Right here on Ticket seven sixty for your Sunday Funday.
I am your host, Dylan Emory and driving the boat
today as usual. The original OG of Ticket seven sixty,
mister Shane Carter, mister aka my co host?
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Am I really the OG?
Speaker 4 (00:45):
Now?
Speaker 2 (00:45):
You are the OG? Now?
Speaker 4 (00:47):
It's crazy, I know, because we have a bunch of
bunch of newbies. I guess you would call them there
like trying to learn the stuff in the back end.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
They're doing great, they are, yeah, doing great.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
I just realized that you mentioned that.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Like, I got out to Lisa and Tim, who are
doing a phenomenal job. Y'all got a stressful job, man,
I see the question. Yeah, I sit here and touch
one button Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Sometimes you just keep it on.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Sometimes I keep it on. Yeah, and you know, sometimes I.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Put together scripts. And today is a very long day
for me, Shane, Yeah, because you got the Spurs game tonight.
I've got the Spurs game, but I also have the
Trending with Trudy podcast today at two o'clock from the Hollow,
we will be getting you ready for the Eagles Cowboys,
and of course listen to us later. Here me and
Shane as we argue the Cowboys and I try to
understand the line right now, I don't get it.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
I think it's too small.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
But again, you know, I've got that, and then I've
got to turn around, come back to the station. I've
got to do the Spurs and Suns tonight as they
are in Phoenix to take on the Phoenix Suns.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
You know, you really do?
Speaker 2 (01:45):
I do.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
I think I'll be done about ten thirty or eleven,
and then I wake up Monday morning and do my
regular job.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Have you got any I've been able to listeners to
some of the postgame your show, but a lot of times,
like a lot of times, if it's an earlier game,
I have to put my daughter to bed, so obviously
I can let's do it at that point? Have the
questions becoming in at least better because I know, like
for a while people are kind of struggling with the
talkback function.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
I think people are getting used to that talkback function,
which I can't wait for us to do that here
for this show. I know that's probably in the works,
and you know, we kind of get our Christmas list
for stuff, you know. Yeah, but no, I think people
are catching on to the Spurs post up show. They're
also catching on to the Spurs countdown show. It's on
twelve hundred WOI and I'm having a good time with it,
(02:27):
you know. I think that you know, it's got its
functionality and it's a different vibe and I love it,
you know. And of course we always do Facebook Live,
So good morning to Ricky Bobby who is in here.
Pamela is in here as well, and they're all saying
hello to you, Shane as well.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
They spread the loves.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
I finally get a shout out. You know what's funny is.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Pam is a very good friend of mine and she's
a diehard Dodgers fan. And even this late after the
World Series, I get a go Dodgers because she knows
that I was cheering for the Blue Jays, Ipam, you
know so.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
But no, it's it's fun. You know, this furs is fun.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
But it is a busy day today. But you know
that's that's besides the point. We love doing what we're doing,
and that's what we're here for. And we're here to
argue and be friends at the same time.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
And I have to make those promos, the ones that
say they don't promise they don't hate each other, they
just like to argue, like because people have literally reached
out to both of us like do you all hate
each other?
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Like that, Like no, it's it's it's like the reality
is is like.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
When we're around each other, we we mostly talk business
and we'll talk a little dad stuff, like we don't
really talk about anything that really warrant, like an argument
or something like that.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
No, I think if people would see us behind the scenes,
and a few people have and you know it's like,
oh you guys, yeah we get along.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
It's way too chill. It's fun.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
It should be more tense, but it's not.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
I mean, when you're a Texas tech guy, I mean
that always gets me fueled up.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
And if I was an Aggie or a Longhorn, you
you probably would have Spoody.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Speaking of Maggy Longhorn, that's gonna be.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
A good one coming off Friday, is well, I mean
Texas kind of put up a lacking Arkansas.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Y Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Again, Like we've talked about this before, Like that's our
friend Andy Ever likes to talk about you need to
beat the teams you're supposed to.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
That's one of it's one of his like vera go
to things to get the wins against.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
Teams are supposed to exactly beaten Arkansas doesn't really qualify
as that to me, I think what's more important is
getting is getting the wins against the teams that maybe
you might not beat.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
For your instant joke Hooba sinners.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Yeah, I don't consider Missouri team they shoudn't beat.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
I feel like yall should beat them worst, if I
mean honest.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
I feel like the Tennessee win was a little surprising,
and obviously Alabama win Obama wins was a little surprising,
and y y'all didn't really struggle at Michigan, but yell,
But the point is y'all have quality wins. I wouldn't
consider Arkansas in that category. Now, I'm not I'm not
downplaying Texas. I think arch Man has played better of
late to his credit. But A and M, if nothing else,
(04:48):
is the most complete both sides of the ball team
in the SEC.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
And I don't think I think it's close.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
No, I agree with you.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
And here's the thing with Texas is that I know
everybody's beating their chest today because they won fifty two
to thirty seven.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Big suy.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Yeah, but it was a very close game in the
first half. And if you were ask, if you ask
my honest opinion, arch manag should have been sitting down
by the second half. This game should have been over
in the first half. This game should have not have
been the way it was.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
I know people are saying, like, oh, he has a
receiving touchdown, a rushing touchdown. It's like, not to discredit Arkansas,
but Arkansas has been down for weeks now.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Hey eighteen of thirty three hundred and eighty nine yards
four touchdowns. Hey man, I wish John Matier could play
Arkansas too, you know, I.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Wish, oh you could play Arkansas as well.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
You know at this point, you know, and you brought
up Oklahoma.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Was I impressed? By the win.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
And the reason why is because I think Oklahoma is
that team right now where it's like I don't want
to face them, not because of their offense, it's because
of them.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
You don't face the hot seam.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Right right, you know.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
And again Derek Brown on Facebook is saying, you know facts,
Archie should have been sat down in the second half,
and I agree. I get your Patty and the stats.
I get your like looking over at A and M
saying hey, sure we you know you guys barely beat them, right?
Speaker 3 (06:03):
Is that Sta Loone? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (06:05):
I don't know who it was.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
I don't know where you're.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Sometimes you have like accidental impressions that are better than you're,
like the ones of your year when I try.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
You know, you know who I think really hurt themselves.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
Obviously, USC losing to Oregon pretty much knocks USC out
of not only the knocks in by the Big ten
race and in the playoffs playoffs Georgia Tech.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
What happened with that Georgia?
Speaker 4 (06:27):
You were one went away from clinching a spot in
the a CC Championship game. They just gotta wait for
Miami and Virginia to finish out their stuff and and
they and they lose to the lost in the first half.
Really the Pitt what was the final score in that game?
I forgot there was something ridiculous for they were never
in it, Pitt Pitt really the coach if Coach Petty
even said last week, this game goes Notre Dame, doesn't matter,
(06:48):
like only matters those two games because they know that
Notre Dame.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
They might lose that game, but it won't matter in
the AEC run.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Because now the a CC Championship game, if if all
the teams went out, is going to be Virginia.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
And you are you watching that game?
Speaker 3 (07:01):
I watch it, but I'm also a collegeable savant.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
I'm not you know, I.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Mean you you know me.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
Like when I'm here and I'm producing a Roadrunner game,
for example, I got the monitors up and I'm watching
multiple games when I'm at home, just because it helps
this job. Also, now the YouTube TV and Disney figured out.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
The multiple the best thing ever, Thank you YouTube.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
I'll have a Now I'll have my volume on in
the game that I care the most about or the
game that's closest. But I had the monitors up and
and uh, and my wife has asked me.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Like, how can you watch this game? How can how
can you watch four screens?
Speaker 4 (07:32):
The reality is that one I've taught myself too, and
two in our line of work, you can't just watch
one game.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
No, we have to watch multiple It's too hard.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
To do this job if you watch one game.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Hey, you might know this one.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Greg Carter's in here, oh yeah, and he says Arkansas
hasn't been an SEC team because of their defense. I
absolutely agree. It's horrendous, you know, that's what you look
at that defense. It does look like a pig pin,
no pun intended.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
Has he ever been on Facebook? I'm wanted that out loud,
like right here, I'm okay, hey dad.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
Hello, No, yeah, no, But it's true.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Though, Like I it's funny to me because and I
want to kind of now we're going to start getting
college coaches, right yeah?
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Uh oh? And Greg also in here. I love it.
SMU equals another Texas team in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
That's true. It's very true because North.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Texas and that'll be the second year that SMU gets
in there. That's is a and M and tech shower
to the SMU Mustangs.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
SMU has a really North Texas still alive for that,
so there could be four teams and four teams not
including Texas the Kashwell playoffs like that would that would tick.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Off a lot of people in Austin.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Now you had mentioned USC, uh and of course USC
loses to Oregon yesterday.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Oregon handles business at home.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Now Oregon's only loss on their resume is Indiana, which
potentially is obviously going to be into the playoffs if
they went out, even if they lose in the Big
Ten championship.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Organist so fortunate.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
But have you have you heard the coach?
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Have you heard Dan Lanning?
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Yeah, Dan Lanning?
Speaker 1 (08:59):
After the game, he says, hey, and this was a
shot at SEC. We didn't play a Chattanooga State today,
right like some other places we completed. You know, a
tough playing nine conference games. It's tough playing in this league.
Basically getting on the podium for the Big Ten and saying, hey,
we've got a tougher schedule. I get that, but I
would also tell you that SEC teams have that choice
(09:21):
at the beginning of the season whether they want to
play Chattanooga or Sanford or anything else like that. But
you do still in this league have to pad your
resume because when you go through the gauntlet of the SEC,
Big Ten, Big twelve, any one of those, you need
that game, right am Obama needed their game yesterday against
it Tech. You know, they needed to get that win.
They needed to be relevant again because they're in the
(09:43):
college football playoff talk right And that's where it's like
you start hearing these coaches now because you've got the
Big ten schools, you've got the SEC schools that are like, hey,
we're still relevant. Texas is still going to put up
their resume too. Texas is going to say, hey, why
not us Texas is their national championship game this Friday
against A and M.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Because if Texas.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Can come out and beat A and M, there's a
discussion how do you keep them out.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Of the playoffs. But then people say, well, they got
three losses. Ha ha, that's what I'm gonna tell you,
the Ohio State loss at Florida lost Okay.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
And that Kentucky game, in the West Virginia game and
the UTEH game.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
A wins a win, like aladd.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
Florida State won the a SEC title game and they
kept them out of the playoff. Don't tell me a
win's a win win because because they will consider what
wins have heavier weight than others.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Our promo talks about this.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
I get that.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
But my thing is, though, if Texas beats Texas, A
and M keep this track, Texas will be fighting for
a college football playoff because they can.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Ruin A and M's season by just beating them.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
You know who is right now in the best position
of any team in the playoff race.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
No, it's not them, It's Oregon. Here's why.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
Then why is he playing politics yesterday?
Speaker 3 (10:56):
Well, it's because, like you have, you have to have
like a backup play in.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
But listen, So Oregon plays Washington next week, and Washington
is a really good team. They're eight and three, they're
like fourth in the UH and the and the Big Ten.
Now that now that USC lost, right, Washington and Oregan
obviously have had this growing ribbery over the last like
five ten years, So that's not gonna be easy game.
But the realities is is that let's say Oregon wins,
Indiana wins, Ohio State wins, and so the Big Ten
(11:21):
standings are still Ohio State, Indiana, and Oregon. Oregon can't
play in the Big Ten championship at that game. But
that's okay because they essentially get a first round by
they're gonna get into the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
They don't have to do anything. I know, you know,
I just don't like the politics.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
Look, we can all complain about it's like you see,
it's like Karen in a target line asking if they
could speak to the manager. That's what I felt the
Oregon coach was doing yesterday. Lane ki did the same
thing last year. Well, of course he does.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Him, but not Dan Lanning.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
I'm not saying that. I didn't say it was okay
for Lane Kiffin to do that. I don't think it's
I don't think it's okay for coaches.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
To do that.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
I mean, for for for heaven's sake.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Yeah, Bob Stoops did that down here in the Big
twelve Championship against Miszou, right when they beat Mazoo down
here with Chase Daniels. That was a quarterback, Bob Stoops.
I sat in that press conference room.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
He was arguing computers.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Sitting there arguing computers, right and and Y two k
that's what these college coaches have to do when they
have a crappy loss. I don't understand why, Oregon, dude,
you had a you had a loss against a top
two team, like it's okay, and today it's not like
you went off and lost to Washington State, yeah you know,
(12:35):
or you lose to Oregon State like you're you're I
don't understand his argument. There's no argument Oregon's in the playoff.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
So like so like just for like cause, I want
to segue just a tiny big he's about to go
to a break, but it's still on topic.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
So right now I'm looking at the updated standings across
like all the all the leagues that you consider likely
in there.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
So you have.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
Obviously the SEC, the Big ten, Big twelve, a SEC,
and then probably a team from the American. Oh yeah,
is gonna get that one. Okay, so check so check
out the standings right now. I'm gonna give you like
the top three teams in each one and like how close.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
It is the final spot. Okay, So we'll start the American.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
It's gonna come down to North Texas at ten and one,
to Lane at nine and two, and the Navy eight
and two. That's the American. They're all tied at six
and one, so two of them are gonna get in.
Something's got to give and the ACC. Now this one
is even tighter. So Miami right now, Miami right now
is actually fifth with one game left to go. So
right at the top is Virginia, Pit SMU, Georgia, Tech, Miami,
(13:29):
and they're all separated by a game. All these teams
that ninety two or eight and three records, and it's
all separated by a game that's gonna come down to
the finish.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
Obviously, the Big twelve. The only teams that are alive
for that one.
Speaker 4 (13:39):
Are Tech BYU Utah and Arizona State and those and
those are like at worst eight and three up to
ten and one. The Big ten, as you know, it's
really just Oregon, Ohusetate in Indiana. Indiana is actually ahead
of Ole House State because of a tie breaker. And
then but obviously that's semantics at this point. And then
the and the SEC. The SEC is very very tight
right now. So just the teams that are in contention
(14:00):
still live somehow for the for the SEC Championship game,
A and M Georgia, Ole, Miss, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt
and uh.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
No, Tennessee's out. Yeah, Tennessee's out.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
Okay, So like those teams make up a one game separation.
If A and M were too if let's say hypothetically
A and M wins, they're in No matter what, the
chaos comes down to Georgia.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
It comes down to old Georgia Bama. Yeah, because because because.
Speaker 4 (14:25):
A lot of them are done playing SEC ball, they
play like I think Georgia plays Georgia Tech.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
Next. It's gonna come down to.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
Ranking absolutely, and it's it's about come down to the five.
Oklahoma is still alive for the SEC championship.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
To you want that?
Speaker 2 (14:39):
Buy I no, I don't.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
I know the conference championship. Buy no.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
I would like to have that.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Buy And I would like to have a home playoff
game because I feel like our home playoff game is huge,
especially if we take on and we'll get into it
here in the in the next segment or so, but
if you're taking on Notre Dame, I'd rather play them
at home right now, especially with this in a defensive
minded team. You know, Brent Vinnables said it best at
the end of the game. Hey, it's not pretty, but
(15:07):
it's a win and it's football, and that's how that's
that's Britt Vinables football right there.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
And that's how tight.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
All these conferences are, no one has secured a spot
yet and we're about to go into the last week
of the.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
Regular season and that's why we love college foot is
the best.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
So coming up next, I want to go over the
playoff scenario because really, when we look at it, nobody.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Lost that was in this bracket.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
But does momentum and shift change based on resumes? That's
all next on the Fanatics on ticket seven sixty
