Speaker 2 (00:18):
Anybody can be a fan.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Wonderable pull up that ran shupper good for Victor Webbanyama.
These guys are fanatics, and Josa has opened up by
phrase wortly, this is the Fanatics.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Welcome in to the Fanatics. Happy Mother's Day to all
the mother's out there. Happy Mother's Day to my mother. Indeed,
as she's on her way to church, Welcome into our
sports church. Welcome into the Fanatics. On this Mother's Day edition.
Along with Ty Sujik and Shane Carter, we are here
to get you there and to talk about the week

(00:52):
that was and the week that is. But first and
foremost so I gotta give a shout out to the Billies,
the Billies. This is Little League Baseball, folks. I am invested.
I'm all the way in the Billies. Yesterday or a
couple days ago actually one thirteen to two, thirteen to two.
They've been dominating the Fredericksburg Little League and shout out

(01:13):
to Hayes, who had a single.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
He stole second, he stole.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Third, and why not let's pull a Ricky Henderson and
let's steal home. So you gotta like that. And I
got to get you a billy's hat. Yeah, I gotta
get it to you. So shout out to him for
doing that. They're in the championship game. They've got a
makeup game this week though, and so it's like I
was talking to him a little bit and he's like,
I don't really care about this game. I'm like, nor
should you. It's like one of those playoff games, you know.

(01:39):
So hopefully they do great. Hopefully, but we'll see what's
going on. I am back from a volleyball weekend. From
last weekend. That stuff was crazy, Fellas, if your kids
are gonna play, that stuff's crazy. It was about five
to six thousand kids.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
I gotta feel the My daughter's gonna play volleyball just
because my wife played ball.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Bye.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
She was actually an All District of all player of
like two years in a row. Shot at Miranda.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
By the way, it is not on Mother's Day, but
it's also her birthday today, so I get a double
whammy for that double.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
But I had Miranda, I respect your game, dude, birthday
to her.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
No, I blame her mom. I've been having her supposure
here today.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
I mean, she didn't want me to come, but she said,
she said, if you're gonna come, I need to be
shout out every single segment.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
So you're expect to hear a lot of that.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
All right, we'll make it happen.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
If we don't, what's thee over under that that happens,
I'll take over on It'll text me to make sure
I'll tick over on that. But a lot of things
in the week that was Obviously the NBA playoffs are around,
but I think in San Antonio right here, we're more
or less interested in the lottery that happens tomorrow at
six o'clock. Uh, you know, then we officially can be
on the clock. Let's see. I was looking at it

(02:52):
before the show. We had a little bit of a
debate here.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
But the San.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Antonio Spurs, the number one pick odds for them are
at six percent, the top four pick odds at twenty
six point three percent. Now, fellas, this could be very
interesting if they get the number one pick. Now, I
want to go back to the Timmy days right and
the Victor win Binyama days. Our percentage was actually lower
in those days. Our percentage is higher right now. How

(03:19):
are you feeling that we could land the number one
pick tomorrow night?

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Not very confident. I'm be really honest. I mean, you're
not a Spurs fan. All right, Well we're gonna start
with that.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
Here.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
By the way, there's a bar.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
I forget the name of the bar, but there's a
bar out there that if the Spurs get the number
one pick tomorrow, the drinks are on the house.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
They did this a few years ago with Victor.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
I bet you they did not want to do it again,
but apparently they are going to do it again.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
So the bar, I don't know the bar.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Maybe somebody that's listening knows the bar and they can
tell me what the bar is, because I wouldn't mind
going to.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
That bar too when I was seven thirty six, nine
seven sixty. There you go. Yeah, see that's another shout
out for Shane. I think, what are you feeling on it?
So I so I'm actually doing I'm different than you,
I don't.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
I think the Spurs are actually in a nice position
to where like if they don't get the number one pick.
I ain't freaking out because I feel like this is
a deeper draft than it was last year. But just
but just be remember when the Spurs landed Wimby, they
had like the third or fourth best odds to mark
him that year. So like right now, I think he
has like the eighth best odds to get the number
one pick, So it ain't impossible. So I'm actually feeling
pretty optimistic.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Yeah, I will say the odds are better than when
the Calves landed lebron So that was that twenty two
point five percent. Now, how do we factor in that
Atlanta pick to this scenario.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
I think the spurs own pick is probably more likely
than yeah, than the Atlanta.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Pick is very thin. Like I'm not I'm not looking
for that. I mean, they got into the play it
what what is the odds of this one hold on?
It's like three percent or something. It's pretty low.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
It's pretty low, like the spurs own pick that they own,
which is like.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
The eight percent. There you go, okay, so less than
a percent.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Yeah, and for them to get a top four pick,
it's three point eight okay, So it's I love the lottery,
but I just don't want to be talking about the
lottery next year.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
I hate the lottery.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Because and I agree with what they kind of said
here on ESPN. There we're looking san Antonio has designs
of getting healthy Victor woman Yama to the playoffs next season.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
I agree with this one hundred percent. It's playoffs or bust.
Next season.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
It's playoff or bus Like Brian Fox, Brian right, you've
had enough time to cook. I think Spurs fans are
looking forward to that.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Now.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
The Spurs are going to make some moves here. It's
not just the lottery that we're worried about or the draft.
We're going to make some moves to this roster as well.
And remind you that Victor and dearon Fox are very
key players that you would want to play with and
could draw, you know, a veteran in by the way,
Steph Castle. Now the Giannis on a Dakoupo thing, that's

(05:49):
probably out of the woodworks. Now we're done with that, right,
because he's even stated he doesn't want to come here now.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
He wants to go one of those he wants to
go to LA.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
And he wants to you know, and I bet you
the Lakers are going to make a push for him
because after their exit in the playoffs, you gotta go big.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
You know, we're seeing that. I could see the Lakers
as the players. Lebron and his team always figures it
out money wise to land it on the Star, just
like they didn't have the funds and really the personnelity
to land a d But somehow, ads we got there.
You know, I I have faith in that. But going
back to a lot of the odds, I gotta I

(06:26):
gotta tell the people my theory here it.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
Us.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
I think it's gonna be Brooklyn Brooklyn booking to be relevant.
It's a major market team that has not done much
of anything. They did have Superstar started them at one
point when you had Kevin Durant there, you had Jaarden
and they blew it. And now Steve the coach. Yeah
well yeah, Steve Nash is their coach. But now no
one is checking for Brooklyn. No one cares for Brooklyn.

(06:52):
If you're playing at Brooklyn right now, you're going there
to either one your career, I call it a yeah
cash out R two. Put up stats if you're you know,
what's the small shooting guard Cam.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Oh, British No not Johnson.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Yeah, came down to the forward, the three point shooter. Yeah,
you just go there and put up points. They need
a star, they need someone worth putting on TV. They
need someone worth selling expensive Brooklyn tickets to. And that
is one Cooper Flag.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
He's not going to make it on his own in
the NBA. He is not going to be a top
player in the NBA.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
The NBA doesn't care about that.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
I get that.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
I'm ad.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
I get that.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
But I was telling you off air that Cooper Flag
is is a team player.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
I don't. I don't think that. First of all, it
just depends on.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Who gets the number one pick, right, We're pulling everything
out of our what nots, you know, and I just
Cooper coming into the NBA. Look, I'm all about it,
and but to me, this guy is a better fit
for the Spurs in that type of rotation. You know,
I think that Cooper going to Brooklyn or or being

(08:10):
the star. I mean you were kind of saying ty that,
you know he lives in the Northeast, it makes more sense.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
You know.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
Again, it's a lottery. We're supposed to say that he
could go anywhere at this point, but I don't think
Cooper would be excited if he landed in Brooklyn.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
You know, you know where I think would actually like
probably embrace him the most at all, like the high
lottery odd teams. And I think Tyers aren't going with
this is the Utah Jazz, Like can you imagine? I
don't want to bring this out there, but we all
saw the last time that the Utah Jazz had a
top ten white superstar leading the team they made they
made championships and stock and listen, no, no, no disrespect

(08:48):
to Utah, but it well yeah, but yeah, but he
shipped out John stock John Stockton was way.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
More ser star than than than Gordon Hayward losing to
the Chicago Bulls. Yeah, but like they would embrace him.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
I feel like Karmel Wone embrace Utah for a completely
different reason.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Oh my god, it's Mother's Day. Yeah yeah, he did
a lot of that. No, but I agree with you.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
I think that I feel like my gut tells me
if I were to tell you who the top four
are going to be, I think Utah gets the number
one pick.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
I think the Spurs end up with the second pick.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
Oh okay, they taken I don't know because I got,
I got, I got some guys I like, but I
won't know who you think they're taking.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
And I think the Raptors get number three and the
seventy six ers get number four, okay, and the seventy
six ers getting number four again luck of the draw
for them.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
I think Cooper could land there.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
Philly.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Yeah, Philly.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
As soon as you said it, my eyes I was
like ooh.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
I was like, yeah, they can ruin another star.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
That might cause himb to play.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
One got to have the motivation.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
And if you get a top four pick, and especially
if you get the number one pick and you know
that it's going to be Cooper flag, Embiid's gonna say, yeah,
I want to play again.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
Yeah he got Paul George and didn't want to play,
and they have MAXI still right, Maxi Mechano come back.
That's that's a dangerous I'm saying, that's a dangerous team.
When you're looking about making it, you look outside of
the coast.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Yeah, you know. It also gives Philly flexibility. If Embiids
truly doesn't want to play, you can sucker another team,
especially with Giannis wanting to be shipped out in a
three team trade. You can ship out Embiid get something
else back for him, and you're like, all right, we're
building around Cooper, this is this is sports staff. We're
gonna bring in another mid level caliber player for Embiid,

(10:42):
and you know, we're gonna kind of restart this thing
the process kind of, yeah, it starts off.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
And I think the thing of it this way too,
for the Spurs going back to them, is we have
a lot of draft picks already.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
Yes, we did.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
We've got a lot of things in our pocket, you know.
And I know that head coach, now we can say
it now officially, head coach Mitch Johnson will be up
there representing the Spurs. He will be up on the stage,
you know, which kind of gets me into that little
conspiracy theory, right they don't you get that little conspiracy.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
Like we don't have the GM up there, you know.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
And and the way this all falls down too is
before it goes live, they already know, oh yeah, because
they they they draw them, I guess in the back
room or whatever they do, and then then then they
have their national televised you know, drawing.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
That's why I already know. I just say that the.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
NBA has the worst draft in sports, I hate the
lottery because all it does is me it says that
if you tank, it's it's almost worthless.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
It's all based on fate.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
And then in the draft night, when when teams are
making trades, these players are already rocking one hat they've
been traded as they're getting interviewed and they said, hey,
I got and Vermina Shelbourne's like, oh, hey, I got
word that you actually traded to Memphis.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
And now the player like has to answer on the
spot how they react.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
And we've seen that with all sports. But I agree
with you that the NBA Draft lottery and the NBA
Draft raft is it's what two rounds.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
Yes, two rounds. I love the lottery. I hate the hat.
That's I agree with you in the hat like, just
give him a different hat. You know what I'm saying.
If the trade is we know the trade's going on,
swap the hat aut or.

Speaker 4 (12:13):
Don't or don't announce the pick until the trade is done.
I have a better system. The NFL has figured this
out for decades. I don't know why the NBA is
so far behind. It's so disrespectful to the players and
the fans who were excited by this one guy, and
it's like, oh, never mind.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
By wish the NFL did have a lottery for top ten.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
No, the NFL has the best draft, the best round draft.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
But hear me out, you land in that top ten,
it's a percentage chance, and now you're no longer tanking
for Art, You're no longer tanking for one player. I
do like that for the NFL.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
I'm not taking for Arch. I'm taking for the for
the Norse, for the Norse sellers.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
I respect that, But I think top ten should be
a lottery for the NFL.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
No, it is.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
It's find the way it is because if you think
about it, it's think about it this way.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
The lottery is there to kind of help teams, not tank.
Does that make sense? Yeah, I'm telling you right now,
I guarantee like so in your perspective, Shane, which is again,
Utah should get the number one pick. You tall here,
who was the second worst New Orleans or one of
those teams right them in Washington. But see when you
do that, though, here's the problem. Cooper Flag would have

(13:14):
pulled out and said I'm not gonna go because he
knows who the teams are. Because in the NFL. You
see the same thing. That's okay, No, it's not.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
It is okay. I I kind of like it because
the NFL process do it every year.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
But the thing I hate, and I think this determined
a playoff spot. If I'm if we're going to NFL,
I'm almost certain a team the Bengals. I think the
Bengals were victims of this, a team tanking and just saying, hey,
we're calling it quits. We want this spot in the playoffs. Yeah,
and the Bengals end up missing the playoffs because another

(13:47):
team just packed it up and said we're gonna take
that early draft pick.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
We're good, right, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
But the Bengals were already in a position to where
they were gonna likely landed at worse to pick fifteen.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
So pick fifteen, they weren't worry about the pick.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
They lost the playoff spot because the team they were
depending on had called it quits. Because they're like the
team that were depending on was ready for the PA.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
They weren't getting worse than picked fifteen based on the
standings at that point.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
Though. That's the point. No, The point is Cincinnati didn't
care about the pick.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
Cincinnati cared about getting to the playoffs, but now they
needed another team to be competitive in week fifteen, Week sixteen,
Week seventeen, and they already called it quits because the
team they were depending on wanted to pick and they
know if we tank, now we're sitting somewhere in this
four to sixth range rather than sliding to maybe eight
to eleven.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Yep, I mean I like it.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
I know the Browns personally could have won a few
more games down the stretch, but at the certain point
were looking at mirror like cam Warts channel right there.
I'd rather take the shot. And once again, I forget
who the Titans ended up losing to in the last
second to.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
Wasn't it the Buffalo No, no, no, no. The Patriots beat
the Bills in the last second.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
Yeah yeah, something like that, and that cost us the
number one pick. It was something super close. But once again,
I wouldn't be mad. Top ten is put into a
lottery system for the NFL. I think that would make
it very interesting.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
I think every team would be competitive no matter what,
no matter their record. Yeah, I mean, better percentage for him,
more lottery balls for him, the worst the record is.
But at the same time, if you have a top ten.
You're able to maybe that number ten, who had the
tenth worst record in the NFL, ends up getting the
number one pick because that's all they need.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
And that's the way the NBA works, folks.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
So coming up next, I want to get into these
wild playoffs and in Cleveland and Indiana, is somebody gonna
win at home? That's all next on the Fanatics on
tickets seven sixty
