Speaker 1 (00:09):
Talking a little bit more NBA basketball.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Now, in the first hour we talked about the teams
that already won, Pacers and Knicks. Is set up in
the East and in the West you have the Tea
Wolves and the winner of today's game between the Thunder
and the Nuggets. Now, the Tea Wolves have had the beneficiary,
have been beneficiaries. Sorry of getting to wait on all this,
and a lot of people have talked about how last
(00:32):
year the Wolves were right there before the MAVs won,
before the MAVs eventually won and got to the finals.
And this Wolves team is young, Hungary and they are attacking,
and it's obviously led by It's obviously led by aunt
Anthony Edwards. So let me ask you this, regardless of
how today's game with the Thunder and the Nuggets finishes out,
(00:52):
are the Thunder the best.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
Team left in the West on paper? Yes? So should
they be favored? I guess I should ask should the
Thunder to be favored?
Speaker 2 (01:01):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Should the Wolves be favored? Yeah? They should be. I
think the Wolves have showed up the most out of
any team in the Western Conference for the playoffs. I mean,
I didn't have a lot of hope for the Lakers.
I know the Warriors faced some injuries, but even despite
all that, the way the Wolves have attacked that they've
been aggressive. They've been aggressive. I mean, you've gotten tremendous
(01:24):
play out of role players. They've gotten under Draymond's skin,
and that'supposed to be his job. Yeah, exactly, They've They've
found a way to frustrate stars time and time again.
And I don't think people give the Wolves enough credit
for the way they beat the Warriors. I mean, they
didn't allow the Wars to hang in there. And I'll
give credit to Steve Kerr in this series, is that
you know, once Curry was officially out and we knew
(01:46):
Curry's not coming back for the series, they had just
their game plan and they built around Jimmy Butler. They
changed their offense and it was very Jimmy Butler in Miami, right.
It was a little bit more, you know, jump shots
from the wing. They rotate things. Community got more minutes,
and that's an adjustment. That's a major adjustment because you're
(02:07):
definitely prepared when you play the Warriors to defend the
three ball.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
The Wolves just took that in stride. Yes they did,
and it wasn't. The thing is, it wasn't just Anthony Edwards.
He was obviously the catalyst for it all. But guys
you brought up Nasried has been huge right now. He's
been and Julius Randall has been maybe the he's been
the Aaron Gordon of this series. He's been doing all
the dirty work. He's been getting you twenty plus points
to night. He's been grabbing you offense and defensive boards.
Because it feels like the Warriors are forced a lot
of times to play small ball. They always feel like
(02:34):
the smallest team out there, and the Wolves just bully them, didn't.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
It absolutely bully them. I mean on all fronts.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
It feels like to me and I might be a stretcher,
but like, I don't know if it necessarily matters. Who
wouldn't seen the thunder the Nuggets and who.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
They play in the Wolves.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
I feel like whoever wins the West is going to
be the champion, just because in the East right now,
I think between the Knicks and the Pacers, just for example,
I think the Pacers are the deeper team between the two.
I think the Knicks are the better shooting team between
the two. So it's gonna come down to either attrition
or consistency shooting with that one. But in the West,
if it comes down to the Wolves or even the Nuggets,
(03:08):
like those teams can bully.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
You, I can agree with that statement. I think I
have more faith in the West at this point. And
let's not me saying this is a Calves hater y'are
you hate the Calves? I thought you're a fan. No? No, no,
I mean no, like as a Cavs fan hating on
Yeah Brown, Yeah, as a Cavs fan hating on the
rest of league. That's not where I'm coming from on this.
I think that those guys in the West, it just
(03:32):
carries more weight right now. If you could predict right
now who your finals matchup would be, who would.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Be well, So for just for perspective, today I had
the Thunder win, and I think without Gordon and the
fact that it's in Okay See is gonna help the Thunder.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
I think the Thunder win this game today. So it
says of a Thunder versus t he Wolves.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
But the thing that has hurt the Thunder in this
series with the Nuggets is that the Nuggets are more
experienced in the playoffs, which I think the Wolves are
the more experienced team between the two in this, so
I think the Wolves actually would beat the Thunder and
in a seven game series where it.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Goes to five or whatever.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
And like I'm already picking the Pacers versus the Knicks,
So my finals matchup, I guess right now would technically
be the Wolves versus the Pacers, which you know, the
major nevers don't want to hear that because that's two
medium esque markets Indiana and in Minneapolis.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
I would have the Wolves in that one. Yeah, I
think the league does better when these you know, mid
sized market teams are doing well and they're winning. I
think I think there's a better focus on the league
and it's good for everybody because people people buying more
and they need to be LA in New York, Chicago,
Miami and Midwest fans or fans that have nothing else
no other teams latch onto they they need these moments.
(04:40):
They would be told. If I had to pick my
finals matchup today, I'm a little bit different. Well, first off,
picked you didn't pick the today's game? Who's yeah? Well, yeah,
I mean's that too? So today I have the Nuggets
winning it. I think I think, you know, with Aaron
Gordon out, Russ is going to step up to the plate. Okay,
Russ is in Okay, see he can? He can? You
know the guy that don't like him do that. They
(05:00):
soured on him. They respect him, but they threw him
every time he has the ball. Yeah, but there's some
sour feelings there, right. I think Russ and the way
he is, he takes things personal. He's a very petty guy. Yes,
I think Russ steps up to the plate. He n okay,
see reminds okay, see of what they moved from. Okay,
so they moved off. So Wolves versus Nuggets, Wolves versus Nuggets.
(05:21):
I got the Wolves winning that as well, Right, I
got the Wolves winning and six. That's gonna be Greaty,
that's a good series. And then I actually have the
Knicks beating the Pacers. Don't pick the big apple.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
I hate Knicks fans, the team, but those fans like
a dog on anybody who.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Comes to the garden. I'm going chaos here because you
look at that. Now we're looking at that off season
trade Cat to New York, Yeah, Julius Randall to Minnesota
and they're going at it in the finals, right, because
because both teams said, he we're off that guy. I'm
off that guy. We think our team is better this way.
How about we see that in the seven game series
in the finals play out. That's what I want to see.
(05:57):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Okay, so so, but between the so, between the Knicks
and the Wolves, who would.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
You theoretically pick? Then Wolves? You got the Wolves?
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Okay, well, so if we if we take that there
to right, so we both have the Wolves in this series,
we both have them in that I would say if
it's the Wolves Pacers, I would have that in six
or seven games. If it was the Knicks, I would
have the Wolves beating the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
I don't, I don't.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
I think maybe the Knicks would get one game. I
would think the Pacers give them a better series. I
think they match up better physically with the Wolves. Then
then I think you would. But I think that, uh,
I mean, that's not too far out of the spectrum
of the idea. I just think the Pacers would match
a well one on one with with with with Minnesota
with the Knicks that they've showed a lot of grit
because not because they they have been behind a lot,
(06:40):
especially in the series against against the Celtics, and they've
come back and won those games. Now, the last game,
obviously they blew them out of the water, but we
knew that was kind of happened. You're in the garden.
There's no Jason Tatum. It's over right, Yeah, you know
that's happening.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
I just like the I think the Knicks match up
better with the Pacers than the Calves did. The Calves
lacked consistent wing play and that's why they traded for
DeAndre Hunter. But you know, when you look at the
Caves team, it's it's kind of pick your poison with
the wings. DeAndre Hunter is the only wing that could
defend and shoot. Max Strus can shoot, but defending, eh, right,
(07:16):
and then Ocoro can defend shooting absolutely not. I think
there are more wing players with Josh hart og On,
Newbie Bridges, you got so many, yeah, Michael Bridge, You've
got so many wings that can defend and that can guard.
The guys like Siakam and you know the guys that
(07:38):
have been just that just absolutely torched the Calves. There
are a lot of role players that stepped up, and
Halibard was able to rest a lot against the Calves
due to these role players stepping up. I think the
Knicks have a better answer for that on the defensive end.
Let me tell you're right here right now.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
I think player for player, I think that the Wolves
actually match up better than the Knicks. Two the Pacers
matchup better than the next two against the Wolves. Just
play for play with that's, in my opinion, that's going
to do it. Price here on the Fanatics on Tickets
