Speaker 1 (00:07):
Our number two underway.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Happy birthday to my mother, who is the rifle age
of seventy eight. AKA when you're an emery girl, you
stop at thirty nine. So happy birthday to her. We
will be celebrating her today. So, speaking of celebrating during
the break, we all just got a call that we've
been announced as the general manager of the San Antonio Spurs.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
I'm honored, by the way, so I am too.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
I don't know how I'm going to add it to
my full time job, part time job, but I'll do it.
I'll make it work. So but I like what Ty
gave us. Ty likes to give us challenges every now
and then. That's a smart guy.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
And every now and then he's Derek White, by the way,
as I say, buy you a jersey for him?

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Please don't? I will? Yeah jersey. Now, how you feel,
by the way about the Cavs.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, disappointed now here they're going to run it back
though here they're going to basically keep the same team
and keep it going.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Not surprised by that.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
I wouldn't be surprised if Jared Allen's will move for
some reason one way or another.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Okay, he's I mean that's not a bad piece to move,
especially if you want to keep your core guys. I
like the Hunter pickup y'all had during the trade deadline.
That was that was huge.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Well, I'm not here to say that you had a
great season. You kind of had a disappointing season. If
you ask me, I didn't say that a good season.
I said, like jaredyn was a good piece to you
to move. I just eat for me, though Ty. The
reason why I always ask is I always give like
a forty eight hour let it sink in debate before
I text my friends.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Yeah, you know, I just try to do it that way.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
So, but we are the GMS, and we're on the clock,
and so Ty, since this is your challenge, I'm going
to listen to all two of you, and I'm going.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
To be hired for this job.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
So, Ty, you are the GM for the San Antonio
Spurs for the upcoming draft of June twenty fifth, twenty
twenty five.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
What are the Spurs going to do? My friend?

Speaker 4 (02:12):
All right, Well, the Spurs are not gonna keep two
and fourteen. I'm gonna tell you that right now. I
think they stay put it too. I'm looking at this
and We're we're not going KD, We're not going Giatis.
We're out of those sweepstakes right in my opinion, those
cost too much for us. Right, we're looking at where
we're at on the board, what we got going on.
There's gonna be some smaller movement, you know, free agent pickups, acquisitions,

(02:37):
maybe another trade of a roll slash French starter. I
won't name names on that, but as far as guys
would be adding in from this draft, I'm going Ace
Bailey at two, and then I'm trading back from fourteen.
I'm gonna sae we can get in and trade back
from fourteen. And this is where that fringe starter bench
guy comes into play. With that trade back, I'd say

(02:58):
we trade back into the mid twenties. Right, we sit
in the mid twenties. Maybe we also trade thirty three
part of that, because there's no way they're bringing in
three rookies. And with that, let's say we're sitting at
twenty two and we draft Maxim ray Nad excuse me,
out of Stanford the center seven to one. And this
is the thought process. You get more athletic on the

(03:20):
wing with Ace Bailey. He doesn't weigh a lot, but
he starts a lot of fast breaks. You repair him
with Castle Fox Wemby. Of course, you got a team
that can run. You got a team, I mean Ace
Bailey really attacks that rim. So you got two guys
in Castle to attack the rim, and you got guys
that can swing the ball out in the perimeter, knock
down shots, get rebounds, right, so you can really stretch

(03:41):
teams out. And then you bring in a young, legitimate
center with this kid out of Stanford. Then go and
get those rebounds so you could play four out one in.
Get those rebounds, keep things moving, much like what the
Wolves do. Go bear at the moment, right, So if
you're looking at that, it's a tremendous way to move
the ball. And then we're adding in a veteran center.
So I'm looking at let's say a guy like Clint

(04:03):
Cappella or Steven Adams.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah you were, you were set on Steven Adams. You
said that a couple of weeks ago. Yeah, I think
he'd be a great idea. I don't disagree with you
on him. I think he's done well with Oklahoma City,
he's done well with Houston, and he's a big guy
and he can get some some rest for some other
big guys that we have on the roster.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
Big guy does not mind coming off the bench. He's
an enforcer. So when people want to get tough with Wemby,
Yeah yeah, your inswer'ment line up, he sets a hard
screen and sets him straight.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Okay, So there's your draft, right, Ty Sujic the San
Antonio Spurs GM. That's his twenty twenty five what he
would do? U Shane Carter, I'm gonna be looking over
at you. You are now the San Antonio Spurs GM.
It is draft night, change the world.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
So with my I am gonna by the way, I
am keeping the number two overall pick. Tie, I am
gonna draft somebody, and I am actually more than okay.
I know a lot of people aren't, but I'm more
okay taking Dylan Harper just because I believe the upside
of him, even thof your backcourt is a little stacked.
That's something you figure out later on the back court
of having him up there with Stefon Castle, Daron Fox,

(05:14):
and then who will see whoever real estate decide to
keep in there is really is really well built.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
It has a nice stepth I'm.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Then taking my fourteenth pick, and I'm packaging a few
picks in the future, and I'm going in back into
the top five because there is a team in the
top five that has very minimal draft capital for the
next five years. And that's the team that you really
like that you talked about in the first segment, the
Utah Jazz. I believe they only have one draft pick
from like twenty twenty seven, and per pick from like

(05:42):
twenty twenty seven to twenty twenty nine, that's a first
round pick. I am flipping that along with some other
picks to get back in there. And in that trade,
I'm also obtaining their backup center going to the second
year Cop Filipowski. He's going to back up a Victor
and also come off the bench and allow Victor to
play the Four's.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Gonna because you can. You're not gonna get.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Walk Kesler for those are you gouy that like Walk Kesley.
He's not leaving the Jazz. He's gonna be one of
the faces of the Jazz for the next few years
till they decide to do a full rebuild.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
And then with your thirty eighth.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Pick, that's the second round, is where you take a
lot of those chance guys, a lot of those older
guys who you think could be really good deaf pieces.
And I'm going to take a guy who I think
is probably going to land at that point. And it's
just because I don't think he plays a true center position.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
He plays more of a four in the next level.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
But he can play well down down low, but he's
not going to be a true score. Give me Jeni
Broom one of the best players in college basketball, Lasher
from Auburn. He's gonna be guy who's gonna come in
and give you depth at the four if when he
just has to take take to come off the to
come play.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Out the bench. So my draft is Dylan is Dylan
Harper with two trade back in with.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
Number Oh you know, I never said I was gonna
take a number five, number five I'm drafting. Came on, Milwitch,
I'm having my depth b Felipowski, Victor Mena Mala watch
from Duke and the Jeni Broom. I'm taken with the
with the thirty eighth pick because with with with Harper
you have a set back, but they have a set
backpart one of those guys, Becuse's gonna shoot thre for
you have your depth at center and allows Victor to

(07:02):
play less of the center more of the four like
you talked about with him and Gianness, and that also
gives you better depth at the five than you had
in the last couple of years.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
So that's what I'm doing. I like it.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
My only question to that is with john A. Broom,
are you concerned about that vertical? I mean, we watched
a four hundred and five pounds man have a higher
vertical than Johnny Broom.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
I understand that, but that's why he's also falling to
pick thirty eight. He was the second, you argue, the
second third best player in college basketball last year, right,
obviously it was Cooper Flagg, people like Walter Clayton junior
from Florida. He was one of those guys, right, Yeah,
he is a guy. He's one of those like we'll
take a dart, we'll take a chance guys in the
second round. That team has happened every single year. I'm
not going to question a second round pick when the
Lakers drafted Lebron's kid. Okay, so let's just throw that

(07:43):
out the window right now. With jan I Broom, at
the very least, it gives you a guy who he's
a little bit older about it. He's like twenty three, twenty
four or something like that. Whole Arbu team was old
enough to rent a car, and he was. He is
a guy that I think who comes up the bench
and gives you depth at the four. Obviously, your starter
at the four is gonna be Harrison Barnes at least
for this next year. I mean, we'll see what happens
with Sohan. Obviously the option is still out there. But

(08:03):
Broom gives you a guy who's a little bit older
who's going to give you at least like ten minutes
off the bench at the four.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
Yeah, okay, that's good. So that's that's my draft.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Good Dyan Harper, you guys are GM and then you
guys are good GMS.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
I like how you're protecting the future. I like how
you're protecting in the future.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Well here I am. Well, I shipped off some picks
to move.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
I am a general manager and I know that I
am a general manager of the fans, and I just
landed the second pick in the fourteenth pick. I've used
the past couple of years to build a team. I
got the number one pick, not too long ago. I
got Victor win Binyama. I was able to sign Chris
Paul Harrison Barnes. I was able to turn this team,

(08:42):
let's see, from a twenty win team to a thirty
win team without half the season with Victor winbin Yama.
I want to win, and I want to win now.
I'm on the phone. That second pick is not mine anymore.
I'm going to trade it, okay, and I'm going to
trade it to the Milwaukee Bucks. The Milwaukee Bucks are
going to give me, Yannis. I'm not giving them anything.

(09:04):
I'm giving them the future, straight up swap. I might
give them one of my players, but not one of
my strongest players. And I would also tell Milwaukee from
day one, we're not putting Castle in this conversation.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
And I'm going to hang up the phone. You want
to build your future.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Second pick, go get Dylan Harper, go get who you need.
Second pick is all yours. So they agree to that,
and I get Yannis.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Look at me.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Wow, guess who else I'm getting on the phone with Phoenix.
Hello Phoenix, I hear you got the twenty ninth pick.
I've got the fourteenth. I hear that you want to
build two. I hear that you're not having too much fun,
and there's a lot of rumors going around that mister
Kevin Durant wants to leave. How about I give you
a fourteenth pick and I'll throw you Kilden Johnson and

(09:51):
I'll take your twenty ninth pick.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
So you're jumping fifteen spots. You're govern have a contract.
I want to win now. Yeah, Kiti is a win
now move. He's a win now move.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Giannis is a win now move right with a couple
years right, right, But you still have a veteran corps.
You're still keeping Chris Paul, Harrison, Barnes and everything else
like that. Sure, so hand, you know, it just depends
on what you want to do. But I, as a
general manager, love so hand. That guy can get in
anybody's face, he can protect my players. He's your enforcer,
he's my enforcer. He's going to be the guy that's

(10:22):
gonna get those rebounds and get what I need from him.
So now I have Phoenix's pick, right, because I've now
got the twenty ninth pick, and you have thirty eight
and I have thirty eight, And so with my thirty.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Eighth pick, I'll tell you.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
You know, there's so many players out there, but there's
one kid that kind of who's who is the kid
from China in the NBA draft. He's stuck out really well,
seven foot one, big guy. I can't think of his
name off the top of my head, but I would
take him. Hanson Yang Hanson Yang Anton yek yep. Developmental player.

(10:57):
He's got big men to look up to. And now
not only do the Spurs have two big men, they've
got three. Okay, now can we trade around like that?
Can we play fantasy Land? Sure that could happen because
guess what, guys, it's called the Spurs Tree for a reason.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
In the NBA. All right, you still got one pick left?

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Yeah, well, you know I would probably end up trading it.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
I'll be honest with you.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
I would trade my picks to get future picks because
I don't see that I want to win now mentality
for the San Antonio Spurs, because I'm spoiled. Right, for
twenty years, I had nothing but playoffs and losing in
the playoffs and losing all this stuff. Do you have
to blow up the roster? Do you have to change
it up a little bit? I believe with the draft

(11:42):
picks that we got. We're also fortunate enough that we
don't have to look at trading away a lot of
these players, right you know, some of them are going
to go play somewhere else because the minutes are going
to be reduced, obviously, and in the NBA, you want
to be you don't want to be seen on the bench.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
You want to be seen playing. You know.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Realistically, do I think that that could happen? Probably not,
but could it sure, you know. And that's the thing.
But that's what I see. I see a win now
mentality coming from the San Antonio Spurs is it's time
to be relevant again. And I think the time to
win now is to win now, you know, and you

(12:27):
keep Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes. Harrison Barnes is a
player that he's the quiet guy. He's the quiet guy
that's consistent. Chris Paul showed us that he can be
consistent for eighty two games. Veteran leadership is key, and
San Antonio right now has a chance with veteran leadership
and young talent. The veterans aren't going to have to

(12:49):
play that much. The young talent is going to be
pushed by the veterans and Mitch Johnson.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
You've got a young coach.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
I mean, after twenty nine seasons, we've got a new coach.
We've got a new dynamic, We've got a new rotation
that's going to be fun to watch. The Spurs will
be on the map again. And if they land Yannis
or Kevin Durant, now we become national spots. Like now
we become this team that everybody's going to talk about

(13:16):
besides lit Lebron James and everything else like that what
San Antonio. The hardest mental thing, guys for the San
Antonio Spurs is do you do what Oklahoma City's doing?
Or do you go you know what we want to
win now? Now, I do say this, if you want
the win now mentality, watch out, because watch what Boston's

(13:37):
doing this offseason. Okay, you have the win now mentality?
Or is this a team that you can stick together
that can win maybe two to three titles together.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
That's what we have to see here with the Spurs.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
I probably just fired myself as the GM, but at
least I rolled the dice right. It's like in draft day,
you can fire me in five minutes. It's watch watch
what I can do. But you've got to look at
other teams that were struggling, right the Suns, they struggled.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
They time to blow it up. They had the window,
they had their window.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
All of a sudden, Milwaukee, but Doc rivers San Antonio Spur.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
You know, so that that that Spurs tree is huge.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
And again what Greg Popovich has done not only for
the San Antonio Spurs, but for the NBA in general,
that's something that we can take advantage of as San
Antonio and reach out to where we need to reach out.
So coming up, these guys are taking over because it
is time for me to celebrate my mother. I think

(14:41):
you guys are going to talk about football and yeah sports. Yeah,
so Shane's gonna slide over to the ship. Hopefully it
doesn't end up like the Navy ship that hit the
Brooklyn Bridge. Oh my god, sorry I had to say
it that out.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
Did you see those guys on the sales people died though, no,
just nineteen were hurt. I heard two people died out
of that. Really, I'm less reported. I heard two people
died in nineteen people were that'll teach them all right.
Coming up next, there's

Speaker 2 (15:08):
