Speaker 1 (00:03):
Last night, the Indiana Pacers take care of the New
York nic A Pacas.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Is that that? Was that a pretty good stephen A Smith? Yeah,
I heard it a little bit. Was it there? That
what you're going for? I think it was? Was it
New York nicke Apacas? Yeah? No, No, you sound that's close.
What you say? You say York, you sell You sound
y'all like do I sound like Thibodeau? No, you sound
like a cartoon character. But I don't know which one
needs to get rid of his hair, by the way.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
You know, you know, I don't think I can make
my statement about Thibodeau on air.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
You know you can't. Well, we'll talk about the break.
We will maybe. Yeah, I mean I'm gonna say it
by I can't say it on air, so it's a
version of it.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Yeah, the Pacers take care of the Knicks. And so
now we have our NBA final set, and there's a
lot of people waking up in bigger cities today that
will say NBA starts next year. I'm all, yep, that's right.
Small wins go home and cry. I love the fact
that it's the Thunder and the Pacers. Now, if you
(01:07):
have followed basketball. This is the best matchup that the
NBA needs right now. The Thunder, like Garth Brooks has said,
has rolled nobody can match them. We were saying during
the break that it sounds like Indiana could match them, right.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
Ty, Yeah, I mean we're actually gonna start with Shane
on this one, because Shane watch to bring it up.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Go ahead, Shane. Oh okay, I appreciate that.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
I thought you were gonna start off where because he
robbed Timbadeau and I was like, Okay, he's feen heed
this not no no. I just like I think when
you watch the New York Indiana series, and obviously both
these seams play a high paced, high paced defense. But
what you saw well for the Pacers, they did a
good rotation download playing paint defense, grabbing a lot of
those offensive and defensive boards with obviously Miles Turner and
(01:51):
Pascal Siakam, who we might have a conversation about being
a better player than we thought because this is his
second Finals in five years and I think he might
be emerging one of the better international players in the league.
We just don't talk about him as much because again,
we play for a small market.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
But even though.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Tyree's Holliburton is the face of that team right now.
You saw the depth of that team with guys like
TJ McConnelly and other guys stepping up to where they're
playing such a deep role that that the speed and
elite outside shooting that the Knicks present and like really
like didn't help held up well because the Pacer are
so much deeper. And I think that going I guesst
a thunderd team which is physical and deep in their
own right. I think it matches up better than if
(02:27):
New York had won the series. Okay, I like that.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
I'm actually gonna pass it back to you because I
do have a note to go along with this, and
I don't want to derail the conversation.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Before they get your point in.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Oh man, when ty starts making notes for this show,
I get scared because I'm like, where am I going
to get called out because I say something throughout the
radio nothing to.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Do with you.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
I don't think you said anything Atlantash yet though no,
I always save it for the last hour anyway.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Yeah. Sergio A.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Lozano on Facebook Live, which, by the way, best meteorologist
ever because he's also a fellow Sooner and so he
he's in here saying Indiana can run with the Thunder
and enjoy playing the fast paced Would you agree to
that comment?
Speaker 3 (03:07):
I agree, but I also agree meta allogies are just
paid liars.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Oh clow wow ties odd ones. So let me give
you why I like this series and why I like
this matchup. I like the Thunder obviously, young team, fun team,
you know, a lot of energy, and of course it's
a college atmosphere in Oklahoma City, right. The fan base
there is number one in the NBA out loud, like
(03:31):
they they're told to wear T shirts, they don't fight it.
They wear them, right, So you either get all blue
or a white out, or you get blue and white,
and that to me is amazing and sexy.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
And they don't sit till until they score, right.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Yeah, they don't sit down until the first bucket is
scored by their team.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
They have college traditions on that team.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Yeah, you know, and that's the fun part about it.
If you've ever been to that arena, which i've I've
had a pleasure of going there and listen, it's loud. Okay,
they love this team and that's what makes it fun.
With small market teams because I like it because look
at San Antonio right there, that's our professional team, you know,
(04:12):
and so we get behind them. It's loud and you know,
watching all the old videos. Oklahoma City, same thing, that's
their professional team. Yeah, they have minor league just like
we do Indiana, right. I mean they don't like football
up there because the Colts just suck.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
But it's this small market, right.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
But the fun part about both teams is how exciting
and the energy level. I never saw this with the Knicks. Yeah,
And honestly I didn't see it with Minnesota. Yeah, Minnesota blue.
Oklahoma City out of the water in just one game. Yep,
man has now become camp man.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
You know.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
It's true though, No, I like that, you know, Ashtag.
And the thing is is that SGA equals MVP. I
thought you retired though, No. I went back with it
once he won it. I respect him.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Winners got to win, right, Yeah, and he knocked out
Yo gitch.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
You know.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
And here's the thing in Indiana too, Their fan base
phenomenal is phenomenal.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Oil.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Have you ever been to Indiana high school basketball? You
talk about a state that bleeds basketball. I don't know
if I would ever say, I've been. I've heard Indiana.
It was the way with basketball, the way Texas is. Yes,
like of course Friday night basketball game, high school bastball game,
and their facilities for basketball are superb. I just think Hoosiers, yes,
like the movie. Yeah, like that. That is Indiana basketball culture.
(05:33):
So if you think people aren't watching your at least
getting the state of Indiana walked in every night.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
They got them and the fever right now, who are
playing well? You know, can't look Clark? Is that with
an injury? Like the city of Indianapolis is looking? Is
sitting pretty in their favorite sport? Yeah? Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
See Carl Fisher in here on Facebook with the UTSA
birds up. He's all about UTSA too, about UTSA today.
But the fan bases the players, you know, And you're
right about Siakra Shane, like we need to reevaluate this
kid and how good he is. But again, with small market,
you don't get that coverage, right.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
True.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
You got to remember that the Pacers nobody picked them
to get past the first round. No, they the games
the Calves because out of the East it was going
to be the Calves versus Celtics. Yes, and we watched
both of those teams. Sorry, Tye implode, you know. And
Oklahoma City has stayed the path, right. Everybody has picked
(06:31):
Oklahoma City to get to the finals, and they've had
no problem getting there. Now they have a couple of
games where it's like eh, and I've told a couple
of my friends it's like, Okay, how can you say
a series is over or gonna get interesting? When Oklahoma
City gets blown out by forty and they're like, oh,
Minnesota's coming back, I'm like, huh uh, I say, because
the Spurs they used to do this to us all
the time. They'd win the first two at home, they'd
(06:53):
go on the road and Game three was a blowout
and you stopped watching in the second quarter. But it'll
be an exciting series. I'm going to give it to
you now, ty Yeah, no, I both. I agree with
both of you.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
As far as the sentiments of the excitement around this finals,
I think we all could agree we expected okay So
to be here. They've proven from day one of the
season that they were forced to be wreckoned with and
it's gonna be forced to be reckoned with for some time, right,
So no shock there. And I don't have to go
in depth about Okay, see the one thing, the one
piece I'll give respect to and okay, see beyond that
(07:25):
is chet holmger and stepping up. He's been physical, he's
been gritty for a guy that's the you know, with
the width of a toothpick. To be as physical in
the pain as he as he's been has been phenomenal
to watch.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Right. Yeah, now, now onto Indiana.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
Yes, I think you know, the star of Captain Phillips
should definitely get some more.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
I was gonna let you go there. Yeah, me and
Dylan can't go there.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
Yes you can. We've all seen the movie. And anytime
I man Smiths, I'm like, oh man.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
You need to quit.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
But but yeah, no, when they when when they the
past couple games I've been watching, I was like, man,
he does deserve more respect for not only what he's
doing right now, but he did the same thing in
Toronto and he did interesting thing about when we talk
about this is the break about Indiana that I love
in this series is that Indiana has been shocking the
world by bringing back full court pressure. Right they're playing
(08:22):
defense scrappy, it's scrappy, it's throwing teams off because a
lot of these guys didn't have to deal with this
for a long time, right, So I love the way
they're playing. They're changing their rotations. I think they match
up well against any team in the NBA just because
they have this sleuth of wings that can cover one
through four, one through five, and they also have a
sleuth of bigs. Right, this is the opposite of what
the NBA has been preaching, this three point game whatnot.
(08:45):
They're running off a strong guard play in Halliburton. They
have some a couple of smaller point guard that that
can that can shoot the wall, well, get to the cup,
move the ball around. But the rest of it, they
are cast it off wings that are playing their hearts out.
And this is this is really I don't want to
change the subject, but this is really the message I'm
sending to San Antonio Spurs before draft day. Look at
(09:05):
this again. Watch wings. Ye are getting you to the finals.
What tough defense and the Spurs have that. The Spurs
are buildings, but they also have the ability at two
to acquire another dynamic wing over another dynamic guard. Everyone
says my message I'm sending out here, it comes this
(09:27):
is my message. I'm sending out looking harder at the
wing option. That's sending that wreckers and what that could
do for you chet. Just so you know, he's not
talking about Dylan Harper. Yeah, no, I'm not talking about
doing Harper. Those are you playing at home?
Speaker 2 (09:42):
I I know, I know what who the Spurs. I
think the Spurs should get. So I know where you're
going with.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Yeah, and that's that's the conversation, you know, another segment.
But I'm highly impressed with what the Pacers have done.
They tore up my calves and I was I've been
rooting against them. And then you know, going back to
my superstition out loud, Hey, I want the Pacers to
win this game, because I know if I say I
want them to win, they're going to lose. And that's
(10:08):
for some reason their winning still, so maybe my superstition's off.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
Now maybe you should correct it.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
No, So a friend of the show, Bill brindle right
a good time in front of the show, longtime front
of the show. He wants to know this, what will
the finals national TV ratings be with these two small markets?
Do you what's the over under that you know, golf
might have more ratings on this one because the interest
level from big markets.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
What do you think that's going to be? Who cares?
I'm going to say that, Well, it is about money.
It's about money.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
The end of the day, the NBA will suffer with
this finals, even though it will probably be one of
the greatest finals ever. And later on in the show,
we'll give our predictions on who we think is going
to be the NBA champion, So hold on to that.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
But at the end of the day, it is a
game of money. Yeah, that's about money. By how many
times the Spurs were in the finals and everybody's.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
Like, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. But I think the big
thing that going to attract people, it's not the dynasty.
Like you know, people get bored of dynasties. So maybe
we're watching the start of the okay see dynasty, So
maybe that's why people tune in.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Right, We're not here to watch the start of the
okay see dynasty. We as Spurs fans, are saying, enjoy
it this year because we're winning the West next year.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
Yeah, if you're looking at it from a San Antonio scope, yes, yes,
if you're looking at from San Antonio scope. But I'm
talking about the average fan. Yeah, you're probably looking at
it from that scope, but I'm saying, do your part
and just watch the game. I don't care what the
ratings are to be told, because guess what the final
is gonna be on.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
It's a good game. It's national match to work next
year and the year after.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
It's not going anywhere, and I'm gonna watch and quietly
you're gonna watch too.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
So speaking of not going anywhere, let's get into this guy.
He's really making a lot of people angry. And uh,
I'll give you my fresh, little hot sermon take on
this guy. We're going to talk a little Aaron Rodgers
and how I'm tired of him. That's all next on
the Fanatics on Ticket seven zig z
