Speaker 1 (00:03):
We will give stuff away for free, and that's what
we give away from free of the iHeartRadio app. You
can find us there. You can also find us on
Facebook Live on my page. You can also find me
on Facebook Live on Kleto's page. Hello to all the
kleto viewers over there. Kletto Rodriguez joining us today for
a very special edition of the Fanatics, as we like

(00:24):
to say.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
So, Cleto's here.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Obviously, he's promoting his show at the Woodlawn Theater and
I'm challenging everybody to buy a ticket. Purchase a ticket.
Let's sell that place out. All the proceeds go towards
the Hill Country. By the way, if you are listening
today in the Hill Country, please be careful. I will say, turnaround,
don't drown. They obviously are getting some rain up there
are official meteorologists of the Fanatic. Sergio is telling me

(00:50):
that a flash flood warning is in effect up there,
So please be careful today. And like I told you
before the show, Cletto, can we just push the rain
down south?

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Can we just get it down here? I mean, it's
just a it's an awful thing. So, but we are
here to give you sports.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
We are here to.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Talk about the San Antonio Spurs being the year twenty
twenty six NBA champions proved me wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Yesterday, the number two.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Pick, Dylan Harper and our lovely San Antonio Spurs in
the Summer League defeated the number one pick, Cooper Flag
and the Dallas Mavericks in the Summer League. So that
score was seventy six to sixty nine and no offense.
Mavericks fans, you didn't even stand a chance against our Spurs.
We completely dominated you in the first quarter twenty one
and eleven, and we never turned around.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Actually we made it interesting in the second quarter because
they outscored us twenty one to twelve.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
But you know who does numbers.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Right, Cooper Flag with thirty one points and thirty two
minutes of work. Dylan Harper restricted minutes because of the
growing seventeen minutes sixteen points of work.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Dylan Harper is him.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Were you were you happy with that pick? Were you
happy when it came out? I was pretty happy myself.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
I was like, I mean, you couldn't get Cooper obviously.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Now we all thought that Dallas could have messed it
up because they did with Luca right. We all knew
that Cooper was going to be the number one pick,
but to be so close to having that. But Dylan Harper, Okay,
so Brian Right of the San Antonio Spurs, he keeps
doing it.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
They had to say it.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
No put intended right, Okay, But Dylan Harper, he's had.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
This injury for a while. People are like, wait, he
was injured. What happened?

Speaker 1 (02:28):
He's had it for what four months or something like that.
And so you come back on restricted minutes, you play Shane.
You were on the group text yesterday and you put
Dylan Harper equals him.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Yes, I did go on.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Okay, well, so I think he probably would played even
more minutes had he not been foul trouble. I think
he ended the game with like four or five fouls.
But the thing was, and you know, I've talked about
this a lot, he had a lot of open looks
to the basket because remember this is Summer Leaks.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
We take everything with a grand salt, you know.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yeah, but we're pretty in the Mavericks fair number one pick,
and they did number two and they played Cooper flags.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
He just made it sound like they had a game
pickup game at Highland's part no No.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
I wanted to.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Say that he highlighted what makes him so special coming
out of the draft, and that is he is a
very fast, very athletic player with a drive to the basket.
He took a lot of really good moves there. He
was actually really effective on the defensive end. I kept
a lot of eyes on Carter Bright just because I
know in the first tear he's gonna be more of
a specialist player. He's a guy who's gonna be open
on the wing for three and he's gonna play really
good transitional defense and down low. And he locked up

(03:25):
and there's a clip going around right now on Spurs
Twitter about him locking up Cooper Flag for almost the
entire shot clock.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
He was on him for a lot of the game.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
He looked, if nothing else, like a guy who's at
least in his second thirty as a defender, and he's
gonna be someone I think that we rely on a
lot at the top of the key. But was this
just the rookies or was this like it's like it's first, second,
third year guys. It's guys who are like who were
either drafted him playing right. A lot of Austin Spurs.
Gotch the guy everyone's talking about this this summer, like

(03:53):
those David Jones Garcia.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
This is with twenty one points yesterday, twenty one points.
What he's no, he's been balling out. He's been balling
out the game before that was like twenty eight points. Yep. Okay,
somebody says, put.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Me on the roster, coach, if I'm harrison Ingram, who's
their draftic last year? He's looked good defensively, but he
gives you almost nothing offensively. David Jones, Garcia might be
that fourteenth or fifteenth spot that they just had to
fill up outside of fur agency because remember they added
they traded for Kelly Olennok this past this past week,
So right now that.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
A solid picker. I liked it. We have three seven.
I'm just throwing this out there. I haven't seen the kid.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
I don't even he said Garcia, I'm assuming point guard.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
No, he's a wing. He's a wing. Yeh. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
I have a question for Cletch Cletto. Are your are
your fans and followers? I think Cleto maniacs. Yes, I
love that.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Yeah, I had shirts for a while.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
It's atomaniac because I like to you're wearing.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
I like the hat you're wearing. Thanks.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
I would just like to say that for the record,
people don't know this little known secret.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
I produced one of his DVDs. Really, that's right. Sure did.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
I had my wife at the time, who was about
eight and a half months pregnant, running the.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Camera for me.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
I mean, we had to get it. We had to
get it done. She's like, I'm having a baby. I'm like, no,
we're producing a DVD.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
That's what we're doing. I was like, I was like,
Riley can wait. That's right, that's right. I forgot about that.
I'm just saying that at work or something like that.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
He's actually responsible for he where's glethelhgether?

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Really? For the station? Yes, yes he was. He was
responsible for all that. Taker. That's right. I like to
put Colecto up in trees.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
He was like, we want He got approached what was it,
the news director, and he asked him if I could
do this thing because he had saw some other guy
from out of town, this sumo guy. He was like
Hawaiian guy doing something on the street, a man on
the street kind of deal.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
And I was like, cleto looks Hawaiian. Yeah, yeah, blend
you know.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
But it was funny because I remember they were trying
to get me to kind of co host with Shelley,
but I couldn't read a prompter to save my life.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
I was reading it like a ransom note.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
And the kids and the cradle and the simmer, little
boy Blue and the man Blue.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
I couldn't read it properly. And behind the scenes you
would see me just sitting.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
There like this, yeah, next, and so we just put
him out in the street.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
That's right. You ever kick a kid out to the street,
You're like, Oh, you're too great. You're gonna do like
a five kids table. Don't forget to put that I
f b in. So you actually heard me when I
tell you, hey, stop talking.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
When we did, we did a joke on Shelley Myles
and and and she never forgave me for that one.
Oh yeah, my wife. He had my wife at Cowboy Breakfast.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
It was the greatest segment that I've ever told, was
the best segment ever.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Nobody knew it was his wife, Okay, only I did, right,
And it's at the Rodeo breakfast, right, And it's Cletcho's debut.
We are putting Cletcha Rodriguez out to the public of
a morning show where I have to tell Cleto, Hey,
you gotta wake up at like three o'clock every day. Yeah,
this is for the news and we're gonna go and
we're gonna do this rodeo cookoff.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
You're gonna be part of it. We're gonna have fun,
but we're gonna have.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Your wife kind of be a Kletto maniac during the
live shots and so like there's like this last one
in Shelley's like, Hi, oh my god.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
We're here. I love it was Shelley talking about Shelley. No,
she knows that I always kid with her.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
But it's like Cletto's standing right there, and then all
of a sudden, live on TV, here comes Cletto's wife
and just lays one on him and starts making out
and then she just takes off.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
And then takes off and I go, man, like this gig,
Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
She called her and he's you need to come get security.
And then we get a call.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
I get a call from the news director and he
was like, hey, in my office after you get back,
and you ever seen fast and furious like the rider
dies sce like.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Hey man, that was worth it, and it's like.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
We came out. I mean, we broth like this might
be our last day. But you know, hey, where's Clyton
for real?

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (08:10):
And speaking of your actually wife is on here commenting
saying that things haven't changed.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
He still doesn't listen to me and his imb.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Speaking of listeners, my brother's listening to the show and
he wants to know just because we're talking about we're
talking about Robert, does that kind of make Daron Fox
darreon Fox expendable and that means we should like because
I don't you know, it's not there was a Bleacher
Report trade thing that went out that's everyone's talking about,
and Lebron was attached to san Antonio.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
It's always been would y'all need to do that?

Speaker 3 (08:37):
No? No, right, it makes no sense for bro. I
love you, I know you listen. I appreciate you listening,
but like, absolutely not. But here's the thing, dearon Fox.
I don't know if we saw it this week. Did
y'all see him on social media?

Speaker 2 (08:49):
I get it. He's dunking on kids. He did a
windmill dunk. Did you hear him?

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Afterwards? He goes tell everybody I can still do this.
He goes, I just lay up the ball for fun.
Well he didn't hurt his legs as a hand.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
No, but I'm saying like he did a windmill dunk. Yeah, okay,
we can't get rid of that guy. Man, I'm excited.
And here's why they shouldn't. People talk about like that
makes him expendable.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Last year when de Aaron Fox and when we bow
with down, you saw how bad, how low at depth
they were at center.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
You also saw their depth at point guard diminished.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Our best point guard after Fox went down was Chris Paul,
who was like, who's on his leg? He's almost in
a walker at this point. And we saw too much. Honestly,
I thought of Castle at the point guard, who I
think should stay at the two right and with and
with Harper at the very least. And we see this
with Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers. Having depth
in your back is a good thing. God forbid.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
They're all good players, right, And the thing is about
the Summer League yesterday, And there's so much hype now
right because you had Cooper Flag, you had dealing Harper,
so you have the number one pick, you had the
number two pick.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
There's a lot of pressure on Cooper first and foremost. Right,
he's got it.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
He's got to perform, and his performance is showing us
that he's probably the early, early, early, early rookie of
the year. Let's be clear here, he's gonna put Dallas
back on the map. Now, we don't know what Nico's
gonna do. He's probably gonna do something where he's gonna
end up being a Laker. Now the funny part, and
I'll answer your brother's question here, stop talking about Lebron
James career. Okay, here's where Lebron's gonna go the Clippers, Dallas, Dallas.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Now, I just wanted to go.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
To Dallas just because Nico is just like this kid
at the playground that you see in the sandbox and
you're like, don't play with that cat.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
I don't see you with Dallas.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
He's But my thing is is Lebron is always in
the headlines for what attention.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
He's gonna be a Laker.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
He's gonna be out there his son, who's gonna be
an Arizona Wildcat, which we learned last week that bear
down is something from a guy that died in a
car accident and he said, bar down. I think he
forgot what was that? God bless you. But it's Wildcats,
and I don't get that.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
We talked about this last week.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
I don't get that it says bear down in the
middle of their football field.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
I'm like, go Wildcats, let me ask let me ask
cleto this.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Okay, sorry, Cleto, not cleto Sorry a lot of times
a lot of time. A right, I don't really naturally
enunciate the tea.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
You know it's on the I did it gig in Oklahoma.
Go figure, I was in Oklahoma and the lady goes
all the way from Santoni, Texas.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
We have mister Solito Rodriguez.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
So that's actually not a bad name. Solito is not.
I swelled the d not a tea though, Toledo. We're
gonna ask me. I was gonna ask you in regarding
regards to this question about the Spurs. Right, So, we've
upped the depth at the post position behind Wimby. We
got Luke Cornette, we got Kelly Olena could play four five.
We've obviously improved the backcourt with the addition of Harper.

(11:35):
So if you if we're looking at this and everyone
keeps talking about one of the Spurs gonna add three
point shooters, right, do you have like a preference, like
is there a guy out there that you would like
to get that could breed, that could be that extra
guy maybe off the bench for I know, Dylan has
a guy who like I forgot who you said it
last week though, like you're you're you have a preference guy?

Speaker 1 (11:53):
Oh yeah, yeah, I can't remember who that was. I mean,
either because I'm a squirrel. Somebody go rewrap the show.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
I know.

Speaker 4 (11:59):
I think you know you said something a little while
ago and I and you mentioned okay Ce and during
the playoffs, the one thing I saw is exactly what
everyone was talking about, and that's you have to have
depth in the in in your in your team. If
you don't have it, I mean these I think the
days of the three top three uh players, you know,
the big three are gonna be like okay, it's not

(12:21):
want to say extinct, but the fact that if you
don't have that depth coming off the bench to help
me and keep that that that lead going and just
you know, give your your guys some rest just to
be able to go ahead. And yeah, uh, you know
come back through the whole night. I mean it's gonna
be rough. I saw it firsthand with OKC and and
and in Indiana that these two young teams were going

(12:42):
at it and I'm like, good night.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
I'm like, man, we have just this, this and that's it.
Yeah the days, Wow, we need some help.

Speaker 4 (12:50):
So when the draft came and we got these two
guys to pick up on that, I was like, as
far as three point shoots, I mean, of course I
would like to have everyone else. I like Steph Curry
if he's available, but that's not going to happen.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Heyle that.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
I'd probably say, Shane, I'd take, you know, just somebody
that you know we can get that is not it's
not going to hurt our bank, not going to hurt
our team. But it's an addition and it's and they
can shoot. I mean, we got a lot of bigs
that can shoot.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
Yeah, we do.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
And the scary part about the Spurs is that they're
entering that nine man rotation this season. Coach Mitch Johnson
is turning this direction of what we see you say,
okay see, and we're going to see that here in
San Antonio. So it's going to be an exciting season.
And of course, yesterday Cooper was asked about, you know,
playing against Dylan Harper, and Dylan Harper was asked too,

(13:39):
and Dylan said this basically, and it's weird to say
Dylan and Dylan, but it's a Dylan and Dylan thing.
There's a lot better. You know, he's coming back, and
the crowd was electrifying. He said yesterday he had a
good game. I had a good game. We kind of
just showed the NBA what we're about. So the number
one pick and the number two pick, obviously both the
Mavericks and the Spurs have done well and so that

(14:00):
that's exciting to see. So coming up next, what we're
going to get into is kind of the mid season
All Star break for the Major League Baseball area as
we head to Atlanta for an All Star and we'll
give our thoughts on the standings.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Are you shocked or not? I don't know.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
That's all next on the fanatics, I'll take it seven
sixty
