Speaker 1 (00:05):
Welcome back into it. So again w NBA.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
We talked about earlier in the first hour, little NBA
action for you. Summer league action is winding down. I
know that these Spurs lost against the Hornets, but the
Summer League was kind of a positive thing for the
San Antonio Spurs. Again, You've got a lot of kids
that are trying to make the roster, you know, and

(00:31):
Jones Garcia.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
This is a guy. He is a score.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
He's a score, And that's the thing we talked about
this last week also, like are they going to fill
these last couple of spots with guys already there or
they gonna look elsewhere. They have three guys on this
summer league team that I would be comfortable filling out
the roster with who I'm okay obviously, David Jones Garcia.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
You have a young score.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Riley Middicks has shown he can be a very effective
free point shooting guy. And I'm not ready to give
up yet on Harrison ingram as a as an off
the bench. Does that makes sense you use a second
round pick on him last year? I think he still
has some of it. He does didn't have a lot
offense yet. Let's just be real about that, right, Yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Mean I know that Dylan Harper has made his mark
for the San Antonio Spurs.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
Obviously Harper, He's gonna be awesome.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Dylan Harper is going to be the guy.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
Now, does your other daughter have a crush on Dyan
Harper yet?

Speaker 1 (01:17):
No? Not yet. We're still We're still on Castle.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
Because I know, did both of them have a crush
on Castle? Just the one?

Speaker 1 (01:23):
No? Just the one?

Speaker 4 (01:24):
Okay, we'll get the other daughter onto the Harper tray.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
And the other daughter has a boyfriend. Oh my god,
I have a boyfriend. Okay, and the boyfriend is in
Hawaii this week. We all have our celebrity crushes.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
I love that the boyfriend's in Hawaii.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
By the way, I've spent so much time with my
oldest daughter this week. I'm like, hey, are you okay.
She's like, yeah, he's just over in Hawaii looking at
the Spurs roster. I got invited to go, but I
didn't go because the flight's really long.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Probably that's my daughter. I've heard her talk and so
I know it's not hers, but it is. He went
full Valley girl in that.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Oh my god, Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
So do you think so I'm you think I'm off
base with those three guys, or like, would you not
give any them a chance?

Speaker 4 (02:05):
I know you, I know you love David Jones.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Garcia, I do. Do you like Minnis? I don't think that.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
I think Minnix is not a household name because he
was injured last year. You know a lot of people
shit like his name too. But you know, I'm not
really set on Ingram. I'm not a lot of people
like David Dude Junior. Yeah, he's a good guy. But again,
the roster here for the summer league. They did a

(02:29):
solid summer league to me in my opinion, you know,
and you know, to go up against the Mavericks, who
obviously had Cooper Flag, you know, the case in the
spotlight of our star versus their stars, that was a show.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
You know.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
And it was funny to me, is that the Spurs
now all of a sudden last year they didn't really
have a percentage chance of making the playoffs. This year,
I was seeing a couple preseason hundred percent the polls. Yeah,
one hundred percent chance that they're gonna make it.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
I've seen them ranked as high as like potentially sixth
in the West and it's the typical fifth.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Who's the fourth fourth?

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Okay, so I mean outside of the Rockets, who's the
other team is the Nuggets?

Speaker 2 (03:07):
The Nuggets number three. I think people forget about the Nuggets,
which is don't do that.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
I don't know how to predict what the Clippers though,
because like their team is that's the team that sleeper,
but they're old.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
That's the team that's the sleeper team in the West. Yeah, okay,
but they're they're old. And by the way, there's reports
out that CP three is eyeing to go to the
Clippers because his family lives in that true, which God
bless you, CEP three. I love cheering for you for
the season that you at.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
The backup roll.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Then he wants me a starter, He's going to accept it.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
At this point, it's kind of you're going to do.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
That if you want to be a starting point guard,
what are you gonna do? Play in Milwaukee?

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Yeah, but here's the fun fact. The Dallas Mavericks are
strong even after what happened.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Yeah, right there, they're strong. You know.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Shout out to Sam Walters, by the way, just joined
us on Facebook Live.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
Hey Sammy, he says, Yo, dog, what's up?

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Sam, there you go.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
But the thing is is the Mavericks are going to
be scary. And when I'm looking at the Southwest, obviously
Houston is Houston. I still wait for the ticking time
bomb that is between the head coach and Kevin Durant.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
He made Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Yeah and Kevin duran both hot heads.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
He may Doka is a very like he's he's young
on the spectrum of coaches, but he's very traditional his
way of thinking. And kd is very much in the
mindset that he's still thinking he's the guy right and
and he has a much of a core around him.
He is very much a spotholder right now.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
True.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
And my thing is is that if we're to break
down the Southwest, obviously you're looking at Houston. I think
San Antonio comes in second in the Southwest this year.
I think they jumped from the second to last place
to second place this year. And then I'm gonna put
Dallas at number three, right, and I'll put Memphis in
the New Orleans.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Memphis is kind of I don't have.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
To make a Memphis right because just to coach for
John Moran and also Jenny wants to coach for him.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
And Jaron Jackson's a huge caveat right, is he going
to play? Is he not? When he's on the court, right,
he's among the best bigs in the game.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
And Memphis owned San Antonio last year.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
And maybe we don't give Desmond Bane enough credits as
an overall player, right, Right, he's maybe the most underrated
star player in the league.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
But when you look at the Spurs and we look
at the potential of what we have, yes, and we
know that the Spurs, the old Spur, we say old Spurs.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
The ones that don't play in the summer League. They
were in Vegas.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
They're participating in practices, they're doing their job, They're coming
together as a team in Vegas. And this is a
young core. Yeah, you know, and I mean you see
them swimming together. You see them, you know, and Wimby's
being Wimby, you know, and trying to create.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
We got the green light this past week. You know
that he's been cleared.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
You know, you love seeing that as a Spurs fan,
but you also look at the fact of the matter,
is is that Sohan is there? Yep, Harrison's there. Castle,
I mean Castle Champagne. You know, everybody in the world,
the gangs out here. Yeah, the gang's all there and
is going to be fun.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
And Wemby was talking about this with reporters like everyone
always folks on the headline, though, I want to be
a Spur for life, right like that was the big
headline of the week.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
Did you see the other thing he talked about?

Speaker 3 (06:05):
He had the seal of approval, He get the seal
of approval for the way the roster was built because
we had talked about this all before for free agency.
They needed to give him death at the five because
we can't see Jeremy Sohan, who two years ago we
saw trying to play point guard and then last year
we saw him. Spurs were just kind of But now
now Kelly olennok and and a Cornett, the Cornett.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
That's by the way where I know that, Uh, the
dude that we just got Ah Kelly ola Nick Yeah
Key was out there, Yes, yeah, he was out there.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
And so just to see this, this that has opened
up the floor for Wemby, Now don't you love to
see that?

Speaker 4 (06:44):
Now?

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Now Wemby didn't have to be pigeon held just at
the five. It could be a true like three four
stretch type of player, right, yeah, and we could and
we could see Castle and Harper and Fox control the backcourt.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
That is fun to see.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
And what I like to see is that, you know, like,
in the words of Gordon Ramsey, the chefs are cooking.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Oh, thank god, I think you're gonna start cussing. No, yes,
you're gonna have to run no.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
By the way, I would recommend if you, if you
ever ever really hungry, watch Hell's Kitchen why you're eating,
and it makes the food taste better.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
It does because you think that you're having the beef welling,
but you're grow and cheese. I do that and sometimes
I'm like, oh, it's all the cooked Yeah, what's you
cut paces too?

Speaker 1 (07:24):
Bread? Raw here and raw hit.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
It's it sounds like I just realized that Gordon Ramsey
sounds like Shrek.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
You know, he's fun to watch.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
By the way, on National Geographic, have you seen a
Gordon Ramsey like unchartered ray wild?

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Yeah? That one. I have stuff.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
I've seen a kitchen, you see a you see a
softer side of Cordon.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
But back to now, I'm squarely yeah. So the spurs yep,
it's just gonna be fun to watch. And the other
thing that I like about it is that we're gonna
be under radar. Oh yeah, I'm excited.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
For that, for that, for that schedule to come out,
because I really do want to be like, Okay, who
do we got, because it's not necessarily who we got,
like overall, it's.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Like who do you beat? Because here's the thing about
the What I need.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
Something that needs to be fixed with the Spurs, Yeah,
is winning the games you're supposed to win. That's a
key fact. And that goes back to the Manu Duncan days.
There was games that we were supposed to win and
we didn't. There were games we had big leads in
the game up to lead. You should sweep New Orleans,
no question.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Teams like them and teams like maybe I think maybe
the Jazz or team you need it should be taken
care of, like because Valley, the Spurs are worthy second overall,
pick right. They were among the teams that didn't make
the playoffs, but they very much as a roster constructed
as is today, I think have a playoff roster. So
at the very least, you need to win at least
seventy percent of your games against the against the bottom

(08:40):
half of the least.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
A lot of pressure on Mitch Johnson.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
No this season, No, there's no pressure.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
So yeah, I mean you're kind of stating in the
headlines here that the Spurs.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Roster is a playoff roster. I mean, if I look
at the roster, I think.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
They agree with you.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
I would tell you that every national broadcaster, Yeah, every
NBA person has a vote or a say, is saying
that San Antonio's coming out from the bottom and they're
going to the top.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
I think they've done a really good job of getting
young players through the draft and everything like that to develop.
And I think they did a good job this year
of going through trades and through free agency to get
the guys they needed. They didn't do too much, but
they got darn Fox. We forget about that trade. Kelly Allantic.
They healthy now, Yes, yes he is, Luke Cornett that
was a huge signing. They done a great job of
development what could be a really good playoff roster.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
They have and the Spurs will be there.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
And I think that your Spurs that were a thirty
four win team last season are easily going to jump
into the fifty win or forty five fifty win season.
I don't want to put a lot of pressure on
the Cats because again, I like to go into things
under the radar, and I think the Spurs going into
this season will be under the radar because there's going
to be too many other headlines.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
Lebron is this his last season?

Speaker 2 (09:53):
Houston, we have a problem, Hey, Dallas Cooper flag is
he really the number one pick? I think slowly the
Spurs will start making the national headlines and we'll start
seeing a difference, and we'll start seeing that. But yes,
the true test is when the season does tip. I
think that we're gonna want to get out the gate
quick because if you don't get out the gate quick
in the NBA, you fall behind really fast. Speaking of

(10:15):
falling behind, I want to preview the NFL as we
are t minus forty five days. That's all next on
the Fanatics on Ticket seven sixty
