Speaker 1 (00:04):
Shame.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
I gotta say this behind the curtain here.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
I am having production problems today, so I'm going to
say this, and it's a little bit where I'm disturbed.
On Thursdays, somebody decided to break into my truck because
they have no life, and they decided that they should
take a bag out of there, and everybody's gonna say, well,
it's here now. Some low life took my bag and

(00:29):
so he took my headphones, he took some other radio equipment.
He took some of my work equipment, which, by the way,
you're not going to get any money for it. And
by the way, those headphones were twenty dollars. The only
thing he did take was my sunglasses. I was mad about.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Were they good sunglasses?

Speaker 2 (00:45):
I'll do their rabians?

Speaker 3 (00:48):
Oh yeah, you messed up.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
I had a fought that those were a Father's Day gift.
Now I gave them to myself, but again, you buy
yourself a father's So I'm kind of like going in
and out of these headsets because you know, it is
what it is.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
But that will bear you through because right now.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
And man, I got baby that I wear hurts.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
It does, yeah, because I so if you if you
can see like I can see you.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
My ear lobes are like bigger than the rest of
my ear. It's like any ear that any hip on
I have like has to press against it. It hurts like hell,
you know, and you know what hurts like hell?

Speaker 1 (01:18):
College football victories that just didn't make sense for anybody, right,
like for me, Shane.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
Right.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
So one of the college football games that I absolutely
just replay in my head.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
We all know it.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
It's the Statue of Liberty play where Boise State knocked
off Oklahoma.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
I think this isn't what two thousand and eight.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Something like that? Does know that? Oh eight was when
y'all lost to four in the champions.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
I think that remind me again, oh seven, seven? I
think six.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
The only thing about Bob Stoops sometimes is they say
that he couldn't win eating a cereal in a bowl, Yeah,
because he was never winning bowl games.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Yeah, you can't spell a BCS without Oklahoma.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
So that was okay, that was my victory.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
What what's one that you just were like, man, that
that stinks? Was it the time oh you beat Texas Tech? No?

Speaker 4 (02:04):
So actually, you know, like one that really bummed me out,
Like when I was a kid I was a really
big fan of the U, the Miami teams, and when
they lost to Ohio State on that fantom I called
a phantom pass interference call, which which led to UH
which which led to Ohio State getting that second attempt
to win the championship. That really, that really sucks, just
because I really loved those Miami teams.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Like that one really stuck out to me.

Speaker 5 (02:28):
Yeah, did you like the U, because I feel like
the you was very like you know you did I
did when I was a kid, Like I loved it
during the Jimmy Johnson days that you know, the Michael
Irving days, the Dwayne Johnson days, aka for those of
you playing at home the lost.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Any your Hurricane player from that time, they'll tell you
he was he was a bench rider.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
It doesn't matter. That's the w W. Warren Sapp is
a guy that hates everybody.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Yeah, he kind of does, you know he. I mean,
he would yell at coaches, which was scary. But the
reason why we kind of bring these up to you
guys is we've got a couple of clips that kind
of get you a excited. It's one of those that
we would say that they're like head Turners like, if
you're in the kitchen, right, and so we've got our
top three.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
And Shane, we're gonna start with number three.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Because this was back in I believe two thousand and five, correct,
and I think that a majority of our listeners would
remember this call or from five the National Championship on
the line right here, he's for the corner, he's got it,

(03:33):
and of course we all know that please got it.
Was Vince Young that was the call for the National
Championship game by ABC Sports back in the day where
that was one of the greatest games. And I say
that as an OU guy, that was one of the
greatest games because at the end of the day, believe
it or not, I was cheering for Vince Young and
the Texas Longhorns.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
I mean the greatest college game regardless, it was great.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Yeah, it was there for a championship. I would say, yes, okay.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
It was like the great non championship game that you
can think of.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
One of the is actually our top two.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
It is like our former yeah, for our former producer,
Tie Sudik probably listened to this in the future, but
this was when Appalachian State was just a small little
school and you're supposed to lose by forty to the
Michigan Wolverine were number five at that's number five.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
But guess what happened?

Speaker 1 (04:31):
State? You gotta love that because the Appalachian State that
was their last time that they would almost play like
a Division I school Because that kind of scared you know,
that was kind of a history changer, don't you think,
Shane that it kind of made you double think of
what schools you were gonna play in the preseason because
that was known as Michigan should have won that game.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
That also felt like that, like because there was a
time frame where Michigan went from being a power team
to really just being kind of average for a couple
of seasons, right, Like, there was a time for like
a long time but they were just like they were
among the power schools. They were in obvious blue blood,
but then there's like a decade it felt like of
not irrelevance because they hadn't have irrelevant brand, but just
below average play expectations.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Yeah, and Apple Ashtian say has pulled off a couple
other victories because they remember they they beat them Texas
A and m Aggue is not too long ago.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Right, Yeah, but that one't as big a deal of
it's not now, but like that call and from that year,
that changed a lot.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
It made the perspective just be different of who you
would play in preseason, because again.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Those are games that you're supposed to win.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
Like later on, like in August, I'm taking a trip
with my daughter to Texas A and M. Okay, right,
so we're doing a college she's a senior.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
This year, a lot of them more chefs in the cradle.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
So she wants to go to A and M. That's
one of her places. So we're gonna go.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
But you know, UTSA is scheduled to play A and
M up there, So A and M's got a home
game against UTSA. No, I'm not gonna lie, Shane, I'm
kind of cheering for UTSA.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Well. The good thing if she does go to A
and M. It's only two hour drive.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
It's fine. She can stay up there full time students.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
She didn't talk about you. You can go see her.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
I can't see her, You're right, I can see her.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Or just you know, make her drive on facetimer or
call her during the show, because she calls me during
the show, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
So you know.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
It's one of those things with college football. It's exciting,
you know, and you kind of even remember these calls.
And in one of the the number one call for
the fanatics is the Iron Bowl call.

Speaker 6 (06:27):
Take a listen, fifty six yarter, it's got no does
not have the leg And when Chris Davis takes it
to the back of the end zoon, he'll run it
out to the tam fifteen twenty twenty five, thirty thirty five,
forty forty five, fifty forty five, there goes divers.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
Oh my god, Chris is don't run it all the
way back.

Speaker 7 (06:48):
Barbara's gonna win a football game. Barber's gonna win a
football game. They ran the best mail go back. They
ran it back one hundred and nine yards. They're not
done kill.

Speaker 8 (06:58):
There's one of the greatest calls because you could tell
him out of breath, and Shane and I that are
just like we know it down to the tee right
because it's it's and the radio callers, God bless all
of them because they put you there.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
And I mean, I think this is kind of one
of those good segments that we should keep for radio calls.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
But it's like they're like.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
He's gonna white the foot ball game, like.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
He's realizing it in the middle of the call, He's like,
no way. So if you remember that one, that actually
cost Alabama a lot more because they didn't get to
go to the National Championship. They ended up playing my
Oklahoma Sooners in the Sugar Bowl and they got spanks.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
And they were so butter that they had to play
that that they couldn't play. They forgot about Oklahoma and
Trevor Knight with Trevor.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Knight, Trevor Knight.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
And by the way, nobody knew that Trevor Knight was
going to start because he was actually injured in the
Bedlam game against Oklahoma State. So it was one of
those things that, oh, you came in there as the
pure underdog, but then what ends up happening is, oh,
you beats Alabama, and of course all the Alabama fans say,
why we didn't really care? Yeah you did, you were
just hurt. Iron Bowl. I mean, it was such an

(08:07):
amazing call, you know, And it's one of those things
that we get amazing calls here in college football and
it just gets you.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Jack, doesn't it.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
What what's your extreme take before we go to break Shane.
What is your extreme take of college football this year?

Speaker 3 (08:22):
My extreme take?

Speaker 4 (08:23):
Okay, so I don't want to stick to like one
of the obvious ones, like oh, this guy's gonna be
the highest when this guy's gonna do that. I'm also
gonna stay with my Red Raiders because I feel like
that's a little too biased. Well it is, it is,
but I you know what, I I really think that
I'm trying to think like that's a wild one. I
could like that I could actually see happening. That's that's
kind of tough, but you.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Know what, put baby in a corner.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
No, you know, I'll do you know, I'll do one
for Yo Oklahoma Sooners. Y'all will win ten games this
year because I think of the four games that I
thought you will lose, y'all will y'all will only lose
three in conference and y'all get a y'all get a
crappy bowl game that you'll win by a lot of points.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
So there's your ten years season.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
That is an extreme take because my expectation for my
ou Sooners are you know.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
What, Actually I got another one. Okay, I forgot about this.
Iowa will compete for the Big Ten championship. What they yes,
because here's why, because they finally got a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
They got this kid, Mark Glowinsk.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
They got to score more than fifteen points a game.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
They will score at least nineteen points a game. No,
because they had no They had this really good quarterback
who is a transferred from South Dakota State, who is
a dual threat. They call him the they call him
the D two bench young he is, he's a night
He's a two time Division two champion up there.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
He transferred from Iowa.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
And I think just because the way the Big Ten
is wor it's very top heavy right now, I think
they are going to make noise in the Big Ten.
I think they're gonna compete for the Big Ten title.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Okay, well, here's my extreme take, and I'm gonna say
it's extreme. We're gonna wake up in January of twenty
twenty six and we're gonna wake up to headlines that
say arch Manning delivers the best national championship performance for
the University of t as they grabbed the national champions.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
I believe that.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
I believe that everything is a lining for the University
of Texas. I do believe that they'll have a couple losses. Okay,
Georgia's in there, and I'm telling you, Shane, you're kind
of giving away the secret of the Oklahoma Zooners because
you know what we did in the transfer portal.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
Oh yeah, y'all. Fihial's quarterback.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Offensive coordinator and quarterback been getting along. That's a good
two year relationship right there. I'm just letting you know.
But the thing is is that I think with Texas
it's a lining. Now.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
The doubt is Manning right, he's only played two games.
But here's the thing. The dude is humble, you know.
I mean he's very humble, Shane. He's not out there
saying yeah, I'm the guy, you know what I mean.
He's not being very Cam Newton like when he was
in college. But doesn't that scare you?

Speaker 4 (10:52):
Not?

Speaker 2 (10:52):
Really?

Speaker 1 (10:52):
What do you think? How is he going to perform?
Is he a Heisman favorite?

Speaker 4 (10:56):
Shane?

Speaker 3 (10:56):
I don't think he should be. He hasn't done anything
to earn that.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Is he the number one pick and next year's NFL drafts.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
Well, he's not going to be in the draft, soom No,
the number one thing's going to be Lenora's sellers from
South Carolina.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Who Lenora sellers quarterback South Carolina.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
You can keep that on record.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
But I think that we see that the Texas Longhorns
win the Natty.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
As the kids would say, or the ship or the chip?
Is it the Chips ship?

Speaker 3 (11:18):
It's the Chip because yeah, that's the ch from Champion
and the IP.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
From now see, I'm learning things left and right, but
that is my extreme take for college football. So coming
up next, I want to get into a little bit
NBA news around the league and see what's going on.
I guess the Spurs are gonna probably win fifty. That's
all next on the Fanatics on Ticket seven to sixty
