Speaker 1 (00:04):
It's one of those things where I sit here during
the break and I'm on Facebook Live and you can
join me there.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
It's on my Facebook page.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
I'm streaming live and I just came up with you know,
Facebook Live, and and my thing is here, Shane is.
I know. I was going to talk to you about
the w n B A and elect crap. But I'm
not such a tea because he talk about here's my thing.
Because I'm a father of a senior this year. I'm
(00:33):
a father of a freshman this year, and as their father,
it is my responsibility to make sure that they have
a good life. Okay, and I have failed them, Oh no,
what you do? I have failed them because I told
them that being in athletics is not your future.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Because the way the ni L is and the way
schools are.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
My daughter who wants to attend the University of Texas
A and M will have to fight for a position
and we'll have to fill out every scholarship out there,
and I will continue to work my three to four
to five jobs because we want to make sure that
Aggie football is on the map. So we're gonna spend
money for it, and we're gonna waste scholarship opportunities because
(01:22):
Shane not to put a receipt on it. You said
that college athletics is just a name. It's now professional sports.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
I said, college athletes is what we used to call it.
They are now athletes in college who are professionals.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
They're athletes in college wasting student space. Look, you want
to change the deal, let's do this. If they're just
going to and I'm specifically speaking to your top top
football basketball programs, right, we know these players Kevin Durant
did not attend the University of Texas and a math class.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Okay, let's be real here.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
There's some athletes that just come in for Hi, I
get to wear the A and M jersey. Hi, I
get to wear the Texas jersey. Let them not play.
Oh wait, we have to find the loophole in the
system to where they go to college. Meanwhile, my daughter
and several other people's daughters and sons that go to
college are going paycheck to paycheck. Okay because my daughter,
(02:21):
hold on, my daughter wants to attend a division IE university.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Do you realize how hard that's going to be.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
And it's not because she's not there in the brains
she's in the.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Top two percent of her class. And do you think
I'm gonna tell.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Her No, No, I'm gonna find the way to do it.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
But it's not gonna be with any help from the university,
because the.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
University is more worried about football, more worried about putting
her name on the map, having Saturday night prime time
at Kyle Field. And I'm just picking on Texas, A
and M. This happens in several universities. Okay, it's not
it's not fair. Education where we lack in the United
States of America is right there. And I'm one of them, Shane.
(03:07):
I didn't finish college. I dropped out because I had
to go make money and I needed money and I
needed to work. I wasted three and a half years
of my parents' income and I made that decision.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
I will not do that for my daughters now.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Okay, But but your situation is not the university's concerned.
The university concern is how to generate as much money
to the university.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
He wants me to go there. The university wants avery
to attend there. Trust me, okay, because their GPAs could
go Okay, But do you understand I had soccer recruits.
I had soccer coaches reaching out to us last year.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
And it wasn't because of playtime for Avery. It was
her GPA.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
This girl has not sunk under the hundred to great average.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
In four years. That's great. And she could attend a
university because of that.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
You know why, because the university now looks good on
the war but the GBA side.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Yes, But listen, you can't.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
You can't use your own situation to control and actually
like make a point for how many situation should be.
That's not the way things are though. The way things
are though, is this is about sports and how the
university's run and how it works.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
It's not college. It's not a scholarship anymore. Stop wasting
scholarship money. Get smarter people. That's it, Fanatics. We're out
