Speaker 1 (00:04):
So the TV Luca's over here, like looking at little
California body. I'm like, dude, come on, man, I miss
the dad bought in this guy one hundred and sixty
five million over the next three years.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
I just wow.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
You know. So speaking of contracts, you know, it's one
of those things, contracts. Obviously, a lot of people say
sports is in the off season. I don't think there
is an off season for sports. I think obviously there's movement,
there's trades, there's signings, there's the draft, there's Jerry Jones.
There's always something. Yeah, there's always something. It's funny to me,

(00:38):
there's always something, and there's always something. With Jerry Jones
and the Dallas Cowboys. You kind of said before the
break that you don't think Jerry wants to win.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
I don't think winn is as important as other things
are in his mind. It's business. I'll give you that credit.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
His business, family brand, which is fine. Yeah, like monetary
stuff and family.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
I'm okay with the family aspect.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
That's fine us off if I'm not trying to say
as more more important, right, But in the in the
realm of like just run the Cowboys, not as a business,
but as a team, like not the Cowboys brand, not
the business, but the actual team itself. I don't think
winning is as important as it is is maintaining the
wealth of the organization.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
True, I still think the dude wants to win. I
think every year does to put forward a Super Bowl
contending he wants to.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Win his way, though, which hasn't worked since the nineties.
It hasn't worked at all. I mean, I mean, they'll get.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
To the playoffs and all something like that, but like
it has not worked in the way that they won.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
And as much as I'll tell you this is that
you know, the the that tattoo always.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Throws me off, which this one, the one on your finger,
Oh this one.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yeah, But as much as you know, Jerry is Jerry
and I and I say that he's this, and I
defend him at the same time, in a flip of
a switch, I've never seen a business owner blow himself.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Up the way that he has with what he had
in the nineties.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Little for a second, so like, I've never watched a
business owner get three super Bowls and have the staff
and have the coaching and just blow it up because
you're selfish, blow it up because you didn't want Jimmy
Johnson to have any more credit, blow it up to
a point where it took you how many years and
you and Jimmy to like apologize to each other.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
The closest, I guess would have been with the Bulls
because because the relationship between Phil Jackson and the gm
mecamember's name, but like they didn't like each other.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
No, and that's not like the one other time I
could think of.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
But then you've got Troy Aikman, right, and I love
I think Troy Aikman is one of the greatest broadcasters.
He's been one of the greatest quarterbacks ever. But he
criticizes the Cowboys for a reason. Yeah, we all know
that he's mad at what Jerry did you know? And
any time that he gets a chance to kind of
talk about these Cowboys or critique the Cowboys because I've

(02:55):
heard Cowboy fan get upset at Troy Aikman. Troy Aikman,
it's not wrong. Well, because he's critiquing the Cowboys. I
don't want, dude, he's not critiquing the Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
You're talking about because the majority of I don't know Troy.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
No, I'm not saying that but it's one of those
things where it's like, you know, you sit there and
you go, Okay, Troy Aikman is this, and Troy Aikman
is that, and.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
You know, stuff like that, right, and but they're not wrong.
You know, there's a lot of not hate. I can't
say the word animosity.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Yeah, And I just think that I think if he
did not get rid of Jimmy Johnson, there would have
been more Super Bowls. He only got one more after that,
you know, and he hasn't had it since nineteen ninety five.
That's crazy to me. So but where I flip the
switch again and say Jerry is relevant and he's smart.

(03:52):
The Cowboys have not won anything since nineteen ninety five.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
And by anything, you mean like the super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Super Bowl, NFC East titles great, Yeah, like like secondary
stuff like right, I'm okay with them winning playoff games
like that's I'm not talking about that.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
I just want at this point, can I be honest
with you, I would settle just for an NFC Championship
Game appearance, since you know, I think any Cowboy fan would.
Since twenty ten, just twenty ten, fun teen years, huh,
every NFC team has made the combety championship game once
except for one team. Right, And it's like, is that
I don't feel like that's too much to ask, right,
Like I can appreciate Here's I as a Cowboys fan

(04:28):
but also someone who works in sports radio. I can
objectively say this guy's a good player, this guy's good,
this guy's good. But I can also say that they
were wasted by organizational failures or coaching issues or whatever
it is. Right, Like, you like to like make fun
of quarterbacks and all that, but I think you objectively
would say, no, Romo was a good quarterback, No.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Dak was a good quarterback. These guys are These guys
are good players.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
But like the app but the atmosphere around the Cowboys
amplifies it, right, right, Like there's there's an objective, there's
an objective look at the players by themselves. Like if
I said this before, if Dak was doing what he
was doing in I don't know, Jacksonville, like he'd be
an MVP candidate, right, Yeah, he'd be talking about like
guys like Josh Allen.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
If Ceedee Lamb was a receiver but he was played
for like a lower lower team, I don't know, like
the lines or something like that. It didn't matter, like
he would still be a star, but he would, but
he would be seen as a much greater player than
he is now.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
M hm. So that's another thing we talked about with business.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
With brand awareness comes honestly, the deterioration of your employees
because they're expected to hold the same standard of past employees.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Yeah, but.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Jerry at the end of the day, like it was
telling people on off air, is like he could carry
a whole show. You know, as much as we don't
want to bring up Jerry, and I think as much
as we kind of like hold back on Jerry and
we kind of, you know, hold our breath, Jerry is
relevant enough to keep the Cowboys in a conversation.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Sure, you know.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
But the fun fact entering this season is now they're
the oldest team in the NFC East to not make
an appearance in an NFC title game.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
So we're we're also watching the O Show and they
have like that's disc Golf's disc golf discolf.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
When you throw the frisbee into that.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Look disc football, I think it's Yeah, it's ann Arbor
versus Austin.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
Because our friend Mike Bartlett loves the Old Show. I
think it's because I think he might.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Like Pellow Fighting Championships.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
The other day, just because I know we're going to
stop talk about the Cowboys for a little bit, I
do want to throw some news notes that I've seen
from training camp if I can, once you all right,
so positives and negatives that I've seen some positives.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
So we know Tyler Guidon a former Calm Sooner.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Obviously he went down with what was essentially essentially the
hot person and knee.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
He's out for four or six weeks.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Might be back week one, more than likely, find to
guess week two because after the opening game against the Eagles,
they get a ten day break before week two.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Nate Thomas has been taking the majority of the reps
at left tackle. He looks solid.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
He looked even better at d the run, but like
if you saw him play at Louisiana, that was where
he was gonna be succeed early on anyway, it was
giving the run blocking.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
George Piketts looked good. He's looked good as like doubt.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Dak has looked for what he had in Michael Gallup
and Amari Cooper was like sort of like a downfield,
like physical type of threat right and George Pickens kind
of fits that mold. He's looked good on the defense obviously,
Mica not playing has opened up the doors for guys
like second round pick Diamond az Iroku and he has
been a lot of people say and he looks like it.
He's been the best player in training camp, regardless of position.

(07:14):
Things that we're concerned about. Mazzie Smith, a favorite first
round pick. He has been on and off. Has been
the best way to describe. There's some days he looks good,
some days he looks like he's just getting swallowed up.
It's and it's hard to look out. And you know this,
It's hard to look sometimes at nose tackles because their
job literally is to is to take up space. But
if they're in the way and they get pushed out
of the way too often, then that can look.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Bad as well.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
It can I mean, but overall, like, are you feeling
good about the season.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
I'm feeling better than I was last year, I think objectively,
just if I'm being realistic, I think the floor of
this team, assuming health, because health can obviously draw a
lot of things. The floor on this team is an
eight win season. The ceiling is probably eleven. So I
think eight to elevens is like probably what this team
is right now. I don't see them. I like where
they're going because I like the young coach staff in
the moves they made. I don't see them contending for

(08:02):
a super Bowl this year. I do think they'll get better, right,
I think this is a team that probably could win
a playoff game.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
I just don't see them like make it for that
just based on what they have now. Yeah. I like
how you put the ceiling out there.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
Well, yeah, because we're already going to have that a
little later on with college football. Oh okay, I've got
some concerns. As a NOU fan of what I'm watching, I.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Might be more optimistic about them than you or Andy,
EDBTT or Michael. But I also like, I pay attention
more no offense. I pay attention a lot more to
the to the Trasher portal and what I think that
can do for y'all's team. I like, I like y'all's
chances this year not to win the SEC, but I
could see a ten win season.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
I could just you know, I don't know, man, I mean,
of course we'll have that now for me though, for
the Cowboys above five hundred, yeah, you know, I don't
think it's gonna be like.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
It was last season. But win at home, win it home, Yeah,
defend your turf.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
So you don't see you see them, you think they'll
be better than seven and ten, but like, but I
think you're with me that like be better. But I
don't see them as I don't see them as an
MC contender. I don't not this year.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
No, you got Philadelphia and you got Washington, Philadelphia, Washington, Detroit.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
Probably the Rams. I think the Rams are gonna be
Rams are gonna be good. I think it's surprised the Bucks.
The Yeah, the Bucks. Yeah, not just because like the
South is kind of like in flux, but just because
I think they're a good team regardless.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
No, yeah, I I wouldn't be surprised.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
Watch off the Seahawks, I like, really, I don't hate
the stuff they does. Is that's your sleeper that?

Speaker 2 (09:27):
Yeah? I do like the Seahawks. I do. I think
the sleepers. Yeah, the Seahaks are my sleeper. That's a
good way to put it.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Okay, I don't they won't that wone when the West
and the Rams right now, are the best team in
the West.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
But I like the moves the Seahawks made.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
Obviously Sam Donold like going from him to Geo Smith
to Sam Donald like they We'll see how that looks.
But I like the moves they made to refix the
albensive line the defense. They might be a sleeper team
for me.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
I like that.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
That's actually a pretty good because you're right because when
Seattle hit the off season, they hit it pretty hard
and I thought nothing of it.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
But Shane might be right on that one.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Coming up next, I don't know, we'll just recap some
more Jerry Jones, maybe talk a little spurs, sprinkle a little.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Salt on that one.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
That's all next on the Fanatics

Speaker 2 (10:08):
