Sarah Chapman is on a mission to inspire the next generation of STEM thinkers in QLD and beyond. From setting up the North QLD STEM Hub in Townville to spreading her knowledge gained from her recent Barbara Cail Fellowship into women in STEM, her energy and enthusiasm is infectious. As part of the expert advisory board for Women in Science Australia and the head teacher of science at Townsville State High School, wonder she received the Prime Minister’s Secondary Science Teaching Prize in 2013!Hosted by Ben Newsome from Fizzics Education.

About Sarah Chapman
Sarah has worked tirelessly to promote scientific literacy. Sarah’s work has been recognised with a prestigious Peter Doherty, Outstanding Teacher of Science Award in 2008 (Queensland Government) and an Australian Award for Teaching Excellence in 2009 (Teaching Australia).  She also led a cluster of schools to be awarded the Commonwealth Bank of Australia Showcase Award for Excellence in the Middle Phase of Learning in 2009 (Education Queensland).  In 2010 Sarah was awarded the James Cook University Alumni – Outstanding Early Career Award. In 2013 Sarah was acknowledged by being awarded the Prime Minister’s Secondary Science Teaching Prizes. In 2014 she was selected as a Queensland Government Science Champion  and completed a 2016 Barabra Cail fellowship into ' Engaging the Future of STEM: A study of international best practice for promoting the participation of young people, particularly girls, in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).'
