Speaker 3 (01:45):
Hey, Jason, I'm so excited to be here.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
I am as well so Christian. I First, as you know,
we're letting the audience and on some behind the scenes,
so we both are members of GC Being. Shout out
to the Georgia Christian Business Network. Christian's got her GGG
hat on at the time of this recording, they're fresh
(02:11):
off that event. We'll have that in the show notes too.
If you don't know about GCB, and you need to,
so we're connected.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
And if you're a woman, you need to know about changed.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Yes, yes, yes, I'm a dude and I'm saying you
need to go. So we're connected through GC Being and folks,
I saw a presentation that Christian did and I'm telling you, Christian,
I saw, I saw you, and I saw the topic
and I was like, yep, she needs to be on
the show. And it's funny how God does that all.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Of my technical difficulties, he still shines and shows up.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Yes, the message still went forth for sure. Well, Christian
like anything. Right, people see the bio, so they see
the head shots, the brand, and oh my goodness, this
person as a business. We know that you didn't just
wake up in twenty twenty five and all of the
sudden do what she did. Kind of give us the
(03:13):
story on your professional background and how you got into
doing what you're doing today.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Yeah, Jason, so it starts back whenever I was actually
twelve years old. My mom had a homeless ministry in Chattanooga, Tennessee,
and we were always living in poverty. We lived that life.
The only way we ate was church pantries. We had
(03:43):
to go over to people's houses a lot of days
before school to get a warm shower because the electricity
had gotten cut off for whatever reason. So we knew
what it was. We always had a home of our
head though, right. God always was there throughout every little thing,
and so we knew what it was like to struggle.
(04:05):
And my mom's heart for just people was so big,
and she you know, she she would do She would
literally give someone the shirt off her back if she
had to do that. She would give them a car
if she thought that they really needed a car. That
was just who my mom was. But she was awful
(04:26):
with money. She was she was not good with money,
and so grew up I was growing up, I was
just like, you know, it's it's great that you're, you know,
helping so many people. However, the way she was doing it,
it wasn't sustaining our family. And she ended up losing
that homeless ministry, so you know it, it didn't sustain
(04:49):
them either. And so growing up, I knew I wanted
to go into ministry. I wasn't exactly sure what. At
fifteen I was. There was this organization called World Changers
where you do home repair on needy families homes, and
I was big into that. And that's where I really
(05:10):
felt the calling, Like, you know, God was definitely pulling
me into ministry. And I was like, yes, let's do this,
you know whatever that looks like. And I had I
had made plans that I was going to be a missionary,
and that's how I was like, let's get out of
the United States, Let's go everywhere else, and I will
(05:32):
help those people you send me to, Lord like that
sounds fun, that's exciting. Let's go do that. And my
freshman year of college, I was a religion major with
a ministry Studies minor, and at the end of my
freshman year, he was like, I'm gonna need you to
be an accounting major and I was like, okay, that.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Doesn't sound fun.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
So I was like, well, you know, I've always been
good at math. I've always been, you know, an AB student,
So all right, we'll see what that's about. And my
sophomore year, I started really getting into those accounting classes
and I was still doing the double major, and I
was like, you know, I feel like God's saying, like,
(06:20):
just drop their religion major right now and just focus
on accounting because it was getting heavy and hard. And
I was like okay, so fast forward graduated with my masters.
I burnt myself out with school. I did not want
to be a CPA. I still am. I really hope
he doesn't call me to that, but it I started,
(06:44):
you know, get my feet wet trying to just kind
of climb that corporate ladder, right, and so I started
entry level and just every single role that I had,
he just kept elevating me and giving me new skill
sets and I even did sales. Back in twenty twenty one,
I actually went and worked for a Christian CPA firm
(07:07):
that worked with churches and nonprofit ministries, and that was
at that time. God told me to go into the
ministry and do this on my own, and I was like, well,
they're already doing it. I'm going to just join them God.
And so a year after that, things fell apart and
(07:28):
I had to leave that position, and I had also
gotten pregnant with my second daughter, so he just kind
of my life was in this like chaos, right. So
I landed at Robert Half as a recruiting manager because
I was like, you know what, let's just take a
break from accounting for a minute. And so I developed
(07:49):
some sales aspects that I didn't have that skill set
in my bag rate and being a business owner, you know,
you've got to have sales. So he used that time
to develop some thing in me that I needed and
then life happened. The economy started going crazy, and he
moved me into another organization. For about a year and
(08:13):
a half, everything looked like it was going amazing, and
then out of the blue, this past February, they terminated
my position and I applied for so many jobs. I'm
talking like hundreds of jobs, right, and I didn't even
get a phone call, and I was like, what is
going on? And God's like, You're gonna do what I
(08:35):
told you to do? Now? Okay? Can yet? Can you
feel me out? And I was like, yes, Lord, okay.
So that's my story. I did a lot of running
away when I should have just ran into his arms
to begin with. But here I am, and I'm super excited.
I'm already, you know, getting to work with these people
(08:57):
that are in my niche. And now I feel, you know,
I finally where I'm supposed to be doing, doing what
he told me to do.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Mmmm. Wow, Christian there there there is a lot there,
so many lessons that I heard you saying so one
and I picked up the joanah vibes to you, like
all right, the Lord's like, okay, time to go do
what I Ultimately, and even in that, Christian God is
so so gracious and merciful, because I think it's important
(09:31):
for the listeners to understand you said something key. Even
with you kind of taking your time, you ended up
doing something that different and picked up the sales skills.
So it's it's just funny how God's sovereignty and his
providence works because ultimately selling, like you said, if you're
(09:52):
going to be business owner entrepreneur, like hey, you know
you you you you You eat what you bring home,
So the ability to sell and influence and close and
all that. So I just want you to expand on
that a little bit. How God prepares us for our
next assignments and even just a on a professional aspect,
(10:16):
even when we're in the midst of something, you can
still pick up talents, skills and be equipped for what's
ahead to What was that like for you, continuing to learn,
even being a little bit slow to ultimately do it,
but still picking up different things along the way that
(10:37):
you learned.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
I think ultimately like through through running and making things
harder on myself, that's I learned the hard way. I'm
one of those people and you know, learning that dependence
on God, that that humility having to you know, look
(11:01):
at certain situations that I've walked through, the relating with
hard personalities, Like every little thing God used to develop
something in me. He uses that with everyone. He uses
every little thing. And whenever you are not plugged into
(11:21):
the source God, everything is hard. Everything's really hard. Whenever
you're not directly plugged in on a daily consistent basis,
and that's the biggest thing that like he he showed me.
That was the biggest thing that like I was always
scared of in running my own business is because I
(11:43):
wasn't fully dependent on him yet. I wasn't to a
place where I was in that complete surrender, right And
I can't even say that whenever, you know, I started
providential accounting, I wasn't to a spot where I was
faithfully stepping into something and leaving something by high knowingly.
You know, he ripped it from me. He was like,
(12:04):
you will do what I said. I'm like, okay, so
I know I'm hard headed, but I know that he
loves me, and he's so good. He's so good. And
I will say, you know, daily prayer daily, in the
Word daily, doing devotions daily, your community GCBN, you know,
(12:32):
having that community surround you with like minded believers that
are going to poor love and pour the heart of
Jesus into you to help just keep you centered. That
is you know what he really had to do with me.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
Wow, that's powerful, Christian. I can't help but think of
the name of the business. Given everything that you've been through,
tell me more about that, because I'm like, I saw
that and I'm like, that just can't, especially after learning
how God took in your journey, so providential accounting. How
(13:08):
did you come up with the name, because I'm if
I'm if I'm right, I'm picking up what you're putting down.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
I mean, it's simple. It's it's his providence. Like he
is the provider, you know, Jehovah Jirah, like God, you
are my provider. That he has always led me. He's
always been good. He's always just picked me up from
anything and carried me. There's been so many times where
(13:39):
I ran straight at I think of myself like a toddler, right,
I have a two year old, So this is like
fresh that that timber tantrum, like screaming. You're they're tired,
screaming and fling themselves towards the floor, banging their heads.
And I'm like, if you just would come to my
(14:00):
arms and rest, it's okay. And God's like, Christian, will
you just come to my arms and rest? Can you
just be right here with me? It's so much easier
if you just lean into me and stop throwing a
temper tantrum. But we have to spiritually mature, We have
to go through those hardships so that we can fully
(14:20):
mature in christ.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Yeah, so good, and I love that. Like you said,
it's right in the name. It's directly in the name. Now, Christian,
I'm not trying to say listen, I'm not the Lord,
so I'm not trying to say, well, Christian, I think
this is next. But I think in telling your story,
the difference between so you have an accountant and then
(14:45):
you have the CPA designation. Maybe for the audience break
that down that, like what is so someone you can
do accounting or be an accountant and then there's a
CPA designation. Talk to us about.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
How that difference. Yeah, yeah, So it's it's kind of
three steps, right. So you have your bookkeeping. Bookkeeping is
like your basic level transactional accounting that's doing reconciliations, that's
kind of all the nitty gritty taking deposits to the bank,
(15:19):
that kind of nitty gritty stuff money management level. And
then you have accounting, which is basically tell your your finances,
tell a story, your numbers, tell a story. Your accountant
interprets the story that they make sure things are in
(15:42):
the right order. I call myself like I'm a I'm
a lagger for numbers.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
Really, so I like that.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
There's there's rules that you can do with your money,
and so I make sure that the rules are applied,
everything's done correctly, and that way you're your numbers are
really useful to you. Okay, So that's accounting. CPA is
that next level. So they they're the ones that they
have the authority, so they have they do taxes mainly,
(16:16):
but not not solely there but more it's just like
a to me, it's just a terminology like basically I
am a CPA, just I don't have that that legal title.
And with the responsibility that comes with a CPA is
(16:37):
you know, you can sign the off on things and
your your signature carries more weight.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Basically in a nutshell understood, that's a good break. Then,
I love what you said, a lawyer for number.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
That's good.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
I'm gonna use that sometimes. The folks you heard it
first from Christian Hailey. I'm definitely gonna use that when
I break that down. So folks, i'd like to think
of think the things and teams. Christian, I think you
just gave me a good idea. Like sure, you got
your financial advisor, you've got your tax professional. You've got
(17:14):
your bookkeeper, but then I like how you're expand expounding on. Okay, yeah,
you have bookkeeping, but then here's the account analyst side,
because it's like you can see the figure eight, the
through line, all those things. So folks, make sure you
have a financial team. My goodness, gracious, it's and we'll
(17:38):
talk about stewardship in a little bit because we're very
we're both very passionate on that, but it's it's just
good stewardship to have it. So you know whether Obviously
a lot of entrepreneurs business owners listen to the show,
and we have a lot of people who work nine
to five. So in either case, have a have a
home team, a financial home team. That's huge. So Christian
(18:02):
and you and your business and providential accounting talk to us.
What services do you offer to your clients and what
can they expect when they work with you.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
Yeah, so I'm doing a lot of like set up
accounting systems, set up I work in quick books, zero sage, intact,
basically anything that works best for your business. I don't
feel like there's one system that's better than all the others.
(18:35):
It all depends on what you specifically are needing it
for and then so that's something that I do is
I have a chat with you and figure out what
your goals are, what's in place now, what your pain
points are, and then let's make sure that your systems
are supporting your true goals and your true mission for
(18:57):
the kingdom. Because if you have a good mission but
your systems are holding you back, then we need to
change something. So having those systems in place, doing setting
it up correctly the first time, or going through figuring
out what was not set up correctly and fixing it,
doing any cleanup that needs to happen as far as
(19:21):
you know there, you know the people that are like
I haven't done my books in five years and getting
it all up to date and no judgment whatsoever. I
want you to thrive. I want you to not be
pulled down by that. That's the biggest thing is finances
(19:42):
should never be a burden on your shoulders. They should
be a tool for you serving the kingdom. So that's
my my biggest thing is you know, we need to
make sure you're set up to serve the kingdom well.
And if if I can help you, just get set
up and cleaned up and then you want to take
off with it now that you're you're good, that's let
me partner with you with that. If we get it
(20:04):
all cleaned up and set up and you want your
like Christian, just tell me how much I have to spend,
then I can set it up and I can do
all the things on a monthly or quarterly basis, very
limited like a yearly basis. But you're not gonna get
the most for your business doing it on that, but
(20:25):
you know we can work that out. There's there's different tiers,
there's different levels of service. I provide really hands on service.
I'd like to have a zoom call with my people
to make sure that they really understand the numbers. I
don't like just giving a financial statements and like, Okay,
(20:45):
here's what it says. Like it's that storytelling aspect that
really makes it make sense. And so that's why I'm
really passionate about making sure you really understand what I'm saying.
You really understand what your numbers are saying, so you
know what programs you can do, what ministries you can support,
what growth needs to happen, what things you need to change,
(21:07):
what things are going to call you out I'm gonna
be your accountability partner, right, That's that's the kind of
things that I do. So it's it's all the financial things.
But with you know, I'm going to be praying for you.
I'm going to be I'm going to be coaching your people,
you know, through making changes and stuff. I I it's
(21:28):
really a strategic partnership.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
I love that, folks, I know about you. I'm getting excited.
I'm like, man, that's the She's the type of accountant
that you need in your life for sure. Uh, Christian,
you made me think about something else too. I'm sure
do you have people come and tea? So you have
people Christian that they just like, let me just do
business and worry about that stuff some other time. And
(21:53):
I'm sure you're kind of like yes, And how do
you kind of not that there's a value proposition because
it's just par for the course, you know, gap generally
accepted accounting principles. But what do you normally do when
you have maybe the type of client customer that's like, man,
can I just earn money? And all this stuff? So
(22:16):
what do you do to be like, Hey, this is
your income statement, this is your balance sheet, this is
your statement of cash flow. What's your take on because
a lot of that stuff with gap, I mean, it's
why accountants and cps exist. It can get pretty complex.
So what's your process for something in the buy in
(22:38):
the convo to where they go, oh okay, So I
didn't realize that that's how those things can help me
make decisions. How do you do that?
Speaker 3 (22:49):
Yeah? The biggest thing is so Number one, A lot
what I hear a lot from is from small business owners.
Is especially successful ones. Is they want to sell in
no matter of time, three, five, ten, fifteen years. You
know they want to They either want to sell or
they want to leave a legacy. And anytime you are
(23:14):
going to sell your company, you're going to have people
thoroughly going through your finances with a fine toothcomb. It
means the difference of you getting to sell or getting denied.
That's the cut dry you know answer is And if
you don't do it on a monthly basis, things will
(23:36):
wildly get out of control and you will be spinning
and you will be so stressed out trying to I mean,
I can't remember, like a month ago what I spent
something on. Whenever I look at my own bank statement.
So if I do it right away, then I'm gonna know.
And that's that's the thing. And it opens you up
(23:57):
to liability, misclassifications. You can get in a lot of
trouble with the IRS for you know, misclassifications. Or maybe
you think that all you have is ten ninety nine contractors,
but really you they don't have a choice and some things,
so they're really not contractors. They're employees. You know, there's
there's certain guidelines. There's certain rules that like you need
(24:19):
to be aware of. So number one is you know it.
It keeps you out of trouble, legal trouble, monetary trouble.
And it then it helps you know how you're measuring
towards your goals. And that's the budget, right is you
make your goals for the year and then each month
(24:42):
you check it to this budget and then you know like, hey,
I'm traveling way too much and not getting a return
on this. I'm paying my sales people way too high
and they're not bringing in the cells to cover themselves.
You know, maybe I need to do more training or
maybe I need to let this person go. Like it
makes and then you're making you're making more sound financial decisions, right,
(25:05):
You're not just guessing. You have hard facts. You have
the truth. And that's the thing, is shining light on
the truth of what's going on and what you know
where you need to dig in more, where you need
to you know, realign things, what are challenges that you're facing.
That's all the information that's packed in all your financial statements.
(25:26):
So that's why it's important that you actually look at
them and understand them.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
Well I don't know, folks, she didn't do it, but
could you see the finger shaking. It's like, hey, this
stuff matters. But that's why you have somebody that's right
there walking along side you. Which brings me to the
next point. Christian. This this we're getting to the stewardship.
Come now, folks, her praying for you.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
That's huge.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
So hey, hey this Harry. I was about to call
you last name, but Christian, how do you incorporate the
biblical financial principles and what you do? Obviously I've heard
a teaching training that you did prayer. I mean that
is just a huge one. I mean, if you're going
(26:16):
to be steward in God's resources, that's just you as
a business owner, but all of us it's in the
text about us managing God's It's not our money, it's
his money. So how do you kind of sprinkle in
that into the way that you do business? And folks,
(26:39):
she's already mentioned one of them, and that's prayer.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Yes, yes, And that's I like to start off, you know,
every meeting, you know, before we even jump into things
like what what can I pray for you about? You
know what? And then cover your business in prayer, cover
our whatever we're going to be talking about. I'm gonna
tell you I may not be the best accountant, but
(27:03):
God is, and he he helps figure everything out. He
he guides us, he directs us, and I firmly believe
that in everyone's businesses. You know, He is the owner
of your business. And he gave me this last night.
This has not come for me. This is Holy Spirit.
(27:24):
The person with the most skin in your business is Jesus,
because his flesh was literally torn for you and for
those who you're gonna serve. And that is the biggest
thing is he He loves you and he loves those
you're serving. And that's why you have to be connected
(27:46):
with what he wants you to do, you know, And
how he wants you to do it. And should I
spend money on this, or should I spend money on this?
Ask the Father, He'll he'll direct us. You know.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
That's that's literally Proverbs three five and six. Is being
lived a trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not your un understanding in all your ways,
and folks, that includes our work and our business, our vocation,
in all our ways. We don't have to look at
the Hebrew. I'm sure all means all, and always acknowledge him,
(28:21):
and he will guide and direct our path. My goodness, Christian, Christian.
And we're in twenty twenty five. There's a lot We
have a new administration. There's inflation, there's tariffs. There is
a lot of stuff going on, and then on top
of that a lot of stuff on social media. What
are you seeing? What are you hearing from clients? What
(28:44):
are their biggest concerns? And what are you doing for
reassurance education? What is the conversation like, because I mean
a lot of people are there's panic, there's hysteria, there struggle,
there's throwing my hands up. What's the use? What are
(29:05):
you seeing clients and how are you kind of addressing
things as they come up in this very unique year.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
Yeah, so I'll say I'm blessed because my clients they're
not freaking out about it, you know, because the people
I work with, they know God's in control. They know
that God already knew this before any of us found
(29:38):
out about it. It's not a surprise to him. And
so honestly, like my advice and what I what I'm
experiencing is just breathe just be at peace, rest rest
in that peace. Don't don't get so, you know, wound
(30:01):
up in the hype, and don't don't take don't fill
your mind with that put you know. State it's you
can't just like block out the world, right, but you
can focus on the truth that God has in his
word for us and meditate on that. Surround yourself with
(30:21):
people who aren't going to be negative and pouring like
so focused on the end of the world. I yoah,
this is my stepdad, I do this? Do I have
to reassure him? I'm like, but your God's is it
directly affecting you or are you just freaking out like
(30:43):
you don't know anything yet? It's okay, calm down. That's
so I don't feel like I really answered your question,
but I it's gonna be okay.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
That's good. Uh So, folks, here's one takeaway Christian need
to pray for some Isaiah twenty six three clients. Isaiah
twenty six three is you will keep them in perfect
peace whose minds are steadfast, keep you in perfect peace,
whose minds are stayed on Him because they trust and you.
(31:17):
So Christians basically saying the types of clients that she has,
their minds are on Christ. It doesn't mean the stuff's
not happening, like there's sirs, there's there's inflate, like all
this stuff is happening, but their mind is stayed on Christ.
That's why I said pray for some of Isaiah twenty
six three clients. Let that oil flow from Christian over
(31:41):
to your business or if you work a nine to five
that let that be the type of May that be
the type of people? Well.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
And the other thing is I think whenever you know
that someone is working alongside of you and your finances
and you have clear answers, you don't get a stressed.
You're able to breathe, and you feel like when everythings
start getting shaky, you're not shaking. Because I heard it
this weekend. Your anchor is dug down deep. So everything
(32:10):
the storm may come, but you're you're solid. You don't
have to freak out.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Amen to that. Yeah, well Christian we are. It's crazy
because this year is like blown by. So we're in
the second half. Yeah, at twenty twenty five. Any upcoming
events or things you're excited about the back half of
the year, maybe going into Q three or Q four,
(32:37):
anything top of mind that you're excited about.
Speaker 3 (32:40):
Yeah. So God has actually been leading me to write
a book, and yeah, and so I'm excited. It's definitely
been good. I've been working with, you know, some people
like Jessica Banner and and I just got the book
(33:01):
that Beth dropped, And so watching watching these ladies walk
through that recently kind of gave me the nudge that
I needed and like, Okay, I'm gonna have to write
a book. And it's God's gonna be doing some things
in that. He's already doing things in that, and the
(33:22):
healing that's gonna take place for me personally having to
address some of this stuff that I experienced, as you know,
like I was saying, like through this poverty into a
stable financial place that I've experienced in my life. I
know that I have the healing that some of my
(33:44):
brothers and sisters in christ need as well. So I'm
excited to work through it myself and then also be
able to, you know, hopefully shine the light and pull
some other people up with me that i'd begin.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
I'm telling you preemptively, Christian, that you will be back
to share whenever the book publishers will be waiting here
on the Fortified Life for you. So folks just know,
whenever she's done, she'll be back. So it's kind of
like the Marvel with the end of the Marvel movies
such and such, we'll return, Christian Haley will return to
(34:18):
the Fortified Life podcast, and I certainly will be excited
to dig into whatever that book ends up being. So
as a fellow, as a fellow author, I'm very excited
for you and with you for sure.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
Thank you. Yeah, I'm gonna have to check your book
out to you. I love to lean in on my
my community. See, okay, let me learn, let me read yours,
and let me learn from you too.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
So I'm excited, absolutely, I'm and I'm happy to do
that anytime. Well, well, Christian, we're coming to the end
of our time here, any any parting words of wisdom?
Number one and then number two. By now the listeners
are like, they're excited. You get wisdom. You've been transparent
and vulnerable at your story. How can people find out
(35:06):
how to connect with you? You know, website, social media,
So any words of wisdom and then what's the best
way for people to connect with you?
Speaker 3 (35:16):
Words of wisdom would just be, you know, lean in
to to God. He's he's pursuing you. He's never going
to stop pursuing you until you He's never going to
stop pursuing you whatsoever. But he has some he has
a purpose for you and needs you to respond and answer.
(35:42):
There's there's others who need you to respond and answer that.
So just just do it, Nike, just do it. Just
answer that call. And the other thing is, don't be
afraid to ask for help, especially in finances. I feel
like people they are shameful about some things. Don't be shameful.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
Wow, those were some encouraging words. Christian people are just
they want to connect with you. Now you left us
with those wise words. What's the best way for people
to connect with you?
Speaker 3 (36:20):
You can go to my website. That's the best place.
It's www dot Providential Accounting dot com. My phone number
is on there, my email is on there as well,
or you can directly email me Christian at Providential Accounting
dot com. I'm on Facebook as well and LinkedIn as well,
so any of those ways you need to find me,
(36:43):
I'm here for you.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
I love it, folks. You heard directly from the source,
and now listen her kung fu is strong if she's
leaving her phone number, so I'm just telling you so.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (36:56):

social media, phone number. She is here to help and
support for sure, Christian. I can't tell you how grateful
