Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, and welcome to episode four of the Frugal Entrepreneurs podcast.
I'm your host Miles and today I'm going to tell
you about seven productivity tips for entrepreneurs and why seven
because less is more and sure I could have rounded
up twenty five or more tips, but I wanted to
focus on seven productivity tips that will actually make a
difference in your life as an entrepreneur. That brings us
(00:22):
to the first tip. You need to prioritize based on
your entrepreneurial goals. You need to know your priorities. Let's
use revenue goals as an example. If you want to
make more money, you'll need to identify the three revenue
streams that are bringing you the most income right now
or have the most potential to bring you the most
income right now. Figure out why and how those three
revenue streams are making you the most money. Then go
(00:44):
all in on milking those revenue generating strategies for even
more money. And this brings us to the most important
tip for prioritizing. You need to know and do things
that matter in your business. Here are three examples of
things that matter versus things that it don't matter. Your
revenue matters more than the number of customers and followers
(01:05):
you have. Also, your profit matters more than your revenue.
A high converting website matters more than a beautiful website,
and creating content matters more than consuming content. And speaking
of priorities, you'll never know what to prioritize if you
don't know your focus. And that brings us to my
(01:26):
second tip, which is focus, which means follow one course
and tell success. That's how the host Entrepreneurs on Fire,
John Lee Dumas explains the word focus. Being focused means
finding one thing that matters and going all in. Become obsessed,
cut out distractions, keep your mind on the prize, and
stay focused. And after focus, our third productivity tip is
(01:50):
to throw perfection out the window. You need to take
action once you've gotten focused. This means that you need
to throw that perfection out the window because as perfection
leads to inaction and procrastination, force yourself to start your business, hit, publish,
build a portfolio, put yourself out there, and ignore the haters.
(02:12):
Because what's the worst thing that can happen nothing? And
what's the best thing that can happen everything? You'll always
have nothing if you don't take action and to quote
John Lee Dumas, have a bias for action and a
disgust for perfection. Once you've overcome perfectionism, you'll need to
develop a habit, which leads to compounding, which brings us
(02:36):
to our fourth productivity tip, which is develop habits and
focus on compounding. It's much easier to be productive when
you're working one step at a time, rather than forcing
yourself to move to the next goalpost inconsistently. And to
quote Charlie Munger, the famous partner of Worm Buffett, first,
(03:01):
the first rule of compounding is to never interrupt it unnecessarily.
All right, now let's talk about systems. My fifth productivity
tip is to build systems. So you know your priorities,
you've found your focus, you've eliminated perfection, and you've developed
a habit, and now you can build your systems. Systems
(03:23):
are organized, efficient methods for completing tasks. As an entrepreneur,
you'll build systems for everything that matters. This includes your schedule,
which needs to include deep work sessions, marketing, onboarding, automations
such as billing and messaging, accounting, and all standard operating
procedures which are in the corporate world. Called SOPs. These
(03:44):
are your routine tasks as an entrepreneur and business owner.
Don't make building systems complicated. Do what works for you
and learn from the systems of other entrepreneurs. Now that
you have systems in place, you'll want to refine them relentlessly.
This brings us to the sixth productivity tip, which is delegate, automate, eliminate,
(04:05):
and accelerate. I put these four things under the same
roof because they all lead to the same goal, removing
yourself from your business while increasing revenue. To delegate, you
can hire virtual assistance, freelancers, independent contractors, employees, and white
label companies. If you have a business where it's difficult
to replace yourself, then hire people to do the tasks
(04:28):
in your life that matter outside of work, like cleaning, yardwork, repairs,
animal care, and food slash cooking. To accelerate processes online,
you'll need a collection of digital tools. Many entrepreneurs call
this their tech stack. Here are some tools in my
tech stack. Tiny Wow for conversion and automation, Canva, which
(04:49):
is my design software card, c RRD, a website builder, spreaker,
a podcast host, word press content management system. You cut
a video, editing software, key Search which is KEYWED research
software for CEO, and chat GPT which is AI software.
And some general tools every entrepreneur needs are project management
software and accounting software. From here, you'll simply want to
(05:12):
continue eliminating things that don't matter in your business or
find your standard operating procedures. Honestly, I could break down
and talk about systems for hours, but that would be
a waste of time and energy for you and me,
which brings us to the productivity tip that will make
or break you as an entrepreneur. Manage your energy energy management.
(05:34):
If you learn to manage your energy, your time will
manage itself. After all, your systems won't matter if you
don't have the energy to execute them. To start managing
your energy, go back to the basics. Drink more water,
stay active, get into a high quality sleep routine, stretch
and exercise, cut out sugar and processed food. Eat food
that makes you feel good. And on top of all
these things, make sure you focus on good relationships. Surround
(05:57):
yourself with people that truly matter to you and move
you closer to your goals. Avoid negative people as much
as possible. It only takes one negative person to topple
your emotions, which will topple your energy. Long story short,
hang out with people that make you happy. You'll have
far more energy if you're happy. All right, and before
(06:19):
I recap, thank you for listening and subscribe to the
show for more productivity tips and more tips about being
an entrepreneur. But to recap, My seven productivity tips for
entrepreneurs are one, know your priorities. Two focus, Three throw
perfection out the window. Four build habits and don't interrupt
(06:42):
compounding unnecessarily. Five build systems. Six delegate, automate, eliminate, accelerate,
and seven manage your energy. Do these seven things and
you'll be well on your way to becoming the entrepreneur
you want to be. Once again, thanks for listening, and
