Welcome to the Fuzz, where weenvision the ideas we'll all be buzzing about
in the future. The buzz thefuture, in the future, in the

(00:21):
future, in the future. Whilethe things we talk about on this podcast
might seem impossible or even slightly insane, so did LED lights, li fi

(00:45):
or light fidelity, and of coursethat old gem the light bulb. On
today's episode, we're talking about lights. How will they illuminate our lives in
the future. You're about to findout, dear listener, Patrick, you

(01:06):
went to the future, you traveledthere, Yeah, and you're gonna take
us there and tell us what lightsare like. Do you think we take
lights for granted we're just like aflip on a switch there they are.
Oh, we we for sure do. We've joked about this recently because you
know, everything is LED, everythingis an LED light. You got to

(01:27):
upgrade all your lights to LED.Remember those fluorescent swirly ones that were going
to be the future for a while. Yeah, those were gone pretty quick.
CFL CFL lights, CFL spiral CFLballs. Yeah. I think those
went away because they were so dumblooking. Probably nobody wants it to look

(01:49):
different. They just wanted to bemore efficient. I guess work different and
nowadays give me color, change themood in my home or my office or
wherever you're at. You want yourlights to reflect the mood that you're in,
or to create a mood for youto be in. Yeah, or

(02:09):
be you know, controllable, customizable, you know, not just a boring
old bulb that you just turn onand it does one thing. It's got
to be a reflection of you asa person, you know, because if
it's not, then what is it. It's just light, just light.

(02:29):
You can get that by walking outside. It's a commodity. You can get
it anywhere. So that's what we'retalking about today, the future of light,
something that we take for granted, maybe or not. So I will
start us off by stepping into thetime machine. Ladies and gentlemen, boys

(03:02):
and girls, come see what's newat the fiftieth Annual Light Show. L
e y et craziest spelling I've everheard. Light show. Some people confuse
it with layette, where the newestinnovations in illumination are on display for the

(03:23):
world to see this year at theLight Show. Are you tired of the
mundane glow of traditional lamps and candles. Elevate your surroundings with the Lumina collection,

all. Steampunk inspired design and craftedby master artisans, each Lumina light fixture
is a work of art, theperfect fusion of vintage charm and futuristic flare.

(04:11):
That light fixtures feature intricate gears, brass accents, and exquisite details that
transport you to a world where thepast meets the future. They are limited
editions, so secure yours today atthe fiftieth Annual Light Show unveiling the Wonders
of Tomorrow today sounds familiar. Somehow, I feel like they were listening to

(04:41):
the fuzz They must have been orinspired bias children. Perhaps they might have
been. They might have been.So this is almost like a work of
art. It seems like I heardsteam punk inspired, you know, I'm
thinking of large and metallic and gearlike. Yeah, what I think we
find in the future is that historyrepeats itself and looking back in the past

(05:06):
and finding inspiration is always a thing. It's never going to go away.
The fiftieth Annual Light Show is atestament to that, right. Yeah,
it's like movies. I want theold thing I loved, but a new
twist on it. Yeah yeah, yeah, So you know you've got some
new illumination with as they say, vintage charm. That's good stuff. Yeah,

(05:33):
it's real good. I felt likeI was at the World's Fair in
like the nineteen twenties. Yeah,oh yeah. One hundred years from now,
it's going to be like one hundredyears before, but one hundred years
from now, they're basically to belike, we have these CFL bulbs,
Why did they bury all these nextto these et atari games? These are

(05:54):
amazing? That would be something.Well, your future very different, very
different than mine, as you'll seein a moment. But you just never
know what you're gonna get. Sowhy don't you step in step into the
time machine. I discovered A populartrend among the wealthier populace of the time

(06:27):
was to replace traditional lighting with lightingfrom phosphorus plants, which provided a more
natural and energy efficient form of light. Different genetic variations of a plant offered
different color hues, many never observedbefore by mankind, and altering the hydration

(06:47):
of the plants could change the brightnessof the lights. Pretty cool, right,
But browsing the future version of amessage board, I also discovered this
new form of lighting was not withoutits downside. I'm going to read you
a little bit from some of theposts I found in one of the bursts
as they're called, that I cameacross. So here's how it kind of

(07:09):
started, domus, friends, Ineed some advice asap. I decided to
embrace the trend and filled my homewith those phosphorus plants for the cool alternative
lighting. At first it was allesthetically pleasing, but now these plants are
getting out of control. They're sproutingeverywhere, and I'm concerned they might be

(07:30):
a threat to my family. Hasanyone else experienced this? Are these plants
a post to multiply like crazy?Or did I get a mutant batch?
I'm worried they'll take over my entireliving space. How do I manage the
situation without resorting to a full onplant war? Help a desperate homeown around?
Then someone wrote this in reply Heythere, I hate to be the

(07:54):
bearer of bad news, but yoursituation sounds like a walk in the park
compared to what I've been dealing with. Those phosphorus plants are no joke.
Mine started innocently enough too, butnow I've practically got a jungle in my
living room. I've lost rooms tothese relentless green invaders. My advice get
out while you still can pack yourbags, find a temporary spot, and

(08:18):
let the professionals handle it. Iwish i'd done the same before my home
turned into a botanical nightmare. Trustme, your family's safety is more important
than the esthetic appeal of those glowingplants. Best of luck, and don't
underestimate the power of those little greendevils. That sounds pretty bad gets a

(08:39):
little worse. Though someone else wrotethis message, Hey, I totally get
where you're coming from. I wasmesmerized by the cool blue glow of those
phosphorus plants at first. The adjustablebrightness based on watering was a game changer.
However, things took a dark turnfor me. I'm devastated to share
that I suspect the plant my havehad a hand in my dog's untimely demise.

(09:03):
I've noticed some strange patterns correlating withchanges in the plant's behavior in my
dog's health. It's heartbreaking, andI never thought these trendy plants could pose
such risks. Be cautious and keepa close eye on your pets. I
wish I'd been more aware before tragedystruck. So as you can see some

(09:28):
concerns here from this ultra trendy futurelighting. As we find the future of
lighting, just like so many thingstoday, filled with good intention innovations that
can also completely backfire. Yeah, and be deadly potentially. We don't know.
We don't want to get involved ina lawsuit here. We don't know
a future lawsuit. Yeah, Sowhere are they putting these messages? Message

(09:52):
Boards work different in the future now, it's done through neural conversations and things
like that. I don't totally unstanding, to be honest with you.
So that's probably for another show.Bloom. Is that what you called it?
I was like a burst what youwould call a thread now, I
think, Oh, okay, whereI thought the burst had to do with
the plants? Okay, so theseplants are the source of illumination. Yeah,

(10:18):
so you would replace all the lightsin your house essentially with these plants
that would grow organically I think aspart of the house, but in a
select few cases seem to get outof control in a way they are not
supposed to. It sounds like itturned into a horror movie though for some
people. Yeah, when you haveproblems, it seems like you really have

(10:39):
problems. Is someone selling the plants? Are they? Yeah, there is
a company who there's a corporation whois controlling this. I'm sure they're probably
like, it's fine, this isa unique situation. Yeah. They used
wind decks, and the plants goquick crazy with wind decks. It's like

(11:01):
they're monster energy drink. Can't can'tinstall them in a house that faces the
east. Yeah, you can't havea chihuahalah. That's pretty cool though.
I mean I like the idea oforganic light. I literally could picture the
plants though, you know, youkind of see them the vines around and
them lighting up. Mm hmmm. What I'm not clear on is how you

(11:24):
would essentially, I know, howyou can different levels of water, could
you know, make the light brighter? I'm not really clear how you Like,
I'm going to bed, I wantto turn out the light. Yeah,
maybe that's where they've figured out,you know, because they're organic,
they sense your sleep pattern and theyjust dim or you give them the water

(11:45):
in the morning, they get brighterthroughout the day and then they Yeah,
there's like a cycle. Yeah, but maybe they do. Maybe they as
they live with you, they startto understand you. M one night you
stay up real late for no reason. What do we do? Do we
stay on? Do we not stayon? But maybe you could just put
your hand on them. Yeah,it makes them turn off or on.

(12:07):
They're like, we feel you,Dave, when you need light, Dave,
Dave, it's like two thousand andone, Dave. The concept of
it is sustainable, which is ecofriendly, but then also you've got this

(12:28):
new source of oxygen right, Yeah, so it's also makes you breathe easier.
I mean, benefits a lot ofthings to sell in the marketing,
except what do you think happened tothat lady's dog? I think that sometimes
those situations are someone who's just sayingthat it's that, but they don't really

(12:50):
know, you know, like howyou're calling her crazy from the past,
Yeah, you crazy, lady.It wasn't the plant based to the plants
are safe. Everyone knows the plantsare safe. It wasn't the plants.
It's because you didn't feed it.You're like the guy in the horror movie
before the something really bad happens.Everything's fine, go about your business.

(13:13):
How did he not see it?Sorry, I didn't know. I was
We're talking about one hundred years inthe future. How far in the future
is this, you know, likeI would say close to the year three
thousand. Oh, the year threeI like that, that's pretty far.

(13:33):
Yeah, I'm just curious where theygot the you know, was this genetically
altered or you know, did theyfind it in the space bring it back?
M you know, you know alienplants, plants in the dark of
space. Yeah, Like, that'sthat's something that happens, Yeah, is

(13:54):
it? Yeah? And because oftheir alien plants. Oh, you just
want us sele your home for nothing. We're just gonna sit around and light
your house. We're gonna be alight bulb for you. Okay. Yeah,
I'm gonna kill your dog. You'llsee. You'll see. I'm playing
the long game here. I'm aplant, but I'm gonna make sure you

(14:18):
regret every minute of your life.I'm gonna get in good with you.
I'm gonna get into your home, all your homes. Yeah, and then
I'm gonna biologically merge with you,and I'm gonna suck the life out of
everything. What if the plant waslike feed miss seeing? I mean,

(14:41):
that's the way it ends with everyplan, isn't it? Yeah? Feed
me? Oh no, long? That was really good voice, is it?
I don't know, It's been along time since I've seen that.
Yeah. Oh, we watched thatall the time, dude. Oh yeah,
still good. It still holds up, holds up, looks great.
Oh yeah, man? Is thatstreaming anywhere? It might be on HBO?

(15:05):
Is it? I'm gonna have toif it's a Warner Brothers property.
Off topic, sorry, listeners.Yeah, I know that got away from
us a little bit. Well, those are two very, very different but
