Speaker 1 (00:09):
Thank you for tuning into the General Session podcast. I'm
your host, Mario Ortist, and today we're joined by a
guest who's no stranger to putting on incredible events. As
the owner of He's been behind numerous festivals and is
now bringing us something new with Fiesta Latina coming up
this weekend. Please join me and welcoming Jesse Fan Seca. Jesse,
thanks for being on the show.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Brother, Yay, welcome.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
How you doing brother, doing pretty good? Thanks for coming
on to the show. Man. I know you've been doing
a lot of things to the city and we want
to just kind of highlight a little bit of who
you are. And then also this festival that's coming up, Man,
it seems pretty exciting. I see you guys promoting really well,
excited about it. I'll be there pretty sure, coming to
be there. But if you want to walk us a
little bit, kind of walk us back to Jesse and

(00:55):
and how you got started in the restaurant business and
then slowly into the the festivals.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Where do you want me to start? Well with the restaurant,
because restaurant I want to touch on a little bit,
but I want to also focus on.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
So so restaurant It's always been a dream. Obviously a
huge fan of food and drink. So on some furniture
stores as well as cell phone stores coming up. But
I want to make you know, obviously my dream wants
to get a restaurant. So open up a restaurant called
Blue a Guy out of Madison.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Uh. We started off there at Madison, Madison, Wisconsin.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
I have little.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Blue Yeah, Blue a Guy.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Where was that in Madison?

Speaker 4 (01:35):
Right?

Speaker 3 (01:35):
That was actually right literally where we.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Were from the capital. Right, how long ago? I lived
in Madison for years.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
That wash I had some board for about six years,
so that was probably about.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Eight years ago here already.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
Yeah, so then what Yeah, we I helped somebody open
that up, my business partner, and then I ended up
just saying, you know what, I kind of know what
I'm doing now, so go ahead and buite me out.
So you me out and opened that money used for
CI War tropical and rest is history.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Yeah. Nice.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
And then so I on K right at KK Yeah,
and uh, i've eaten there before.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
I know, I was there yesterday. I have my favorite play.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Yeah, it's six years. We're gonna be six years old
in November.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
I did open up another one called Caliente, which is
on Blue Mound fiftieth in Blue Mound by the Brewers.
But that was more for my night life, I would say,
more of a night life Latin theme. Problem with that
is it the neighbors. Man, they were just they I
don't I don't like talking about people, but they're definitely.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Yeah, they weren't.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
They weren't Latino friendly, you know so and obviously the
altime was always on their side, my Michael Murphy. So yeah, man,
I just I just sold that and said, yeah, let
me get out of here, go back to Si War
because I wasn't gonna let an incident there ruined my
great relationship I had with Marina. Marina was super amazing
at for Bayview. I didn't want to mess up that

(02:54):
relationship with her, you know, by you know, fights or
something like that. So I was like, surely this, man,
I'm gonna just go to Ward and stay low key.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
So that's what I did. Man, just stay there.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
Nice.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
But we're working on something, working on something house downtown area,
so very cool, very cool. Like it took a different
look the whole You did some updating recently, Yeah, yeah,
I did.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
I was there yesterday and I love you sit in
the chair. I almost sat on the chair. I almost
sat on the chair because it looks so comfortable. Is
the white one that's on the wall, and I said, look,
that looks so cute.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
You're in the city. It was.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
It was nice. I noticed the changes. It's really the
colors really pop out and it's just comfortable. The chairs.
I know that they're very comfortable when they are very cute.
I really like it.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
It has a nice little like floora vibe to it. Miami.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
It changed with like the it seems like it has
a nice night life now in space.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
The look is really it fits really well with everything
with you want to talk a little bit about the.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Night stuff that you guys are doing, nice nice stuff
that we do. Wort Tropical is really low key. It's
really low key. It's really beautiful. Obviously, I stay with
the renovation. I keep it only Fridays and Satday nights.
I don't want to burn I don't want to burn
a name, you know, war Tropical. Plus, I don't want
to let anybody in there. It's more of an older crowd.
I try to keep it an older crowd, not saying
the younger crowd are allowed obviously they you know, like

(04:21):
can come in anytime when they're you know, twenty one
and older.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
But with our vibes and what.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
Our music selection of the DJs and stuff, we get
a more older crowd, so a little bit more chill.
But I mean I like it. Like I said, we've
been doing it for almost two years now. No incidents
at all. Yeah, that's graz Yeah, no no incidents, no fights,
no nothing.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Like I said, I just bring an older crowd.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
So when you have an older Puerto Rican man, they're
more wiser and yeah, they want to have a yeah
some an I mean they have to work in the morning,
so they're not trying to end up in jail for somebody,
you know.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
So you just want a place you're developing or you're
bringing up, a place where people can go have a
drink and listen to music and enjoy and just go
home exactly. That's great.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
So yeah, I don't I don't want to do a
dance the photos yea, the dancing once again, and we don't.
We try not have to go regor throne. We try
to not have to go hip hop. We stay away
from hip hop. We just you know, keep it, like
I said, a nice class year that I've seen this
all summery and get enjoy. But we have to kitchen
open to one am. We do have hook We do
have hookas on the weekends. Yeah, this is this is

(05:24):
a nice crowd. I don't want to get it packed
in that. A lot of night club owners want to
just get it packed in there and look we're we're rocking.
You can rock it all you want to get all
the people. I don't want them. People doing it say that,
but I mean, I just I want to keep a
nice I'm older and I want to be able to
go to a place. You know, let's say you want
to want to date or something with a girl or something.
You know, you take it to the board. You don't
have to worry about anything. So you don't have to

(05:46):
worry about something trying to fight or talk to your
girl right in front of you. You know.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
It's just more chill crowd. So all the fellas, you know,
take some nose night during the day and then the
night you come back.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Back it has some fun and have some fun and stuff.
Hosting this up and coming festival coming up September. First, Yeah,
Latina man a little bit about that.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
It's going to be and then we'll walk.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
Through Like Fitz Lastina is going to be at Veter's
Park September first, twenty twenty four, which is a little
less than two weeks away. Man, I'm excited this, Like
I said, it's it's something I've always wanted to do.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Obviously, I always want I thought I was.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
You know, going to be part of Portico Festival when
USAF shot out to USAF and Victor for what, you know,
giving me the experience that needed to do my own festival.
So I mean, I can't forget about that. But yeah,
I thought I was just I was gonna thought I
joined I joined them. I think it was two years ago.
Based to look, you just go crazy with the stage.
I said, sure, we go crazy with it. So we

(06:45):
brought a lot of amazing local artists. Junior Vera was there,
Jay Lewis was there. We had a lot of really
amazing artists. And then we brought our headline and was
spread a K star. Yeah, and then you had a
following year.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
I don't know what.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
I'm not none of my business. I don't know what
happened to Victory. That's them, that's their business. I don't
want to give that away, but then they end up separating.
So then the next following year, Victor hit me up
and said, hey, man, I'm doing Criban Festival. Are you
down there, you're down you know, help me out. I
was like, of course, let's do it. But I told him,
I was like, it's probably be my first and final
year because I do I always wanted to do. You know, obviously,

(07:20):
when you look at my concept of Sbor Tropical, you
a lot of people supporter restaurant.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
It's not a Porteran restaurant.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
We have Porterican items on the menu, but it's not
a Caribbean port exactly.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
But you know, we also have Cuba. We've got some
Dominican place on there.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
We've got a Argentina Chudasco on there, Pruvian dish on there,
you know, Mexican dishes. So I've always I've always liked
that concept, you know what I mean, just like representing
all all the Latin countries, not just Puerto Rican, not
just Mexico.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
Well you have some good names here, so that yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
So that's what I want to incorporate what I do
with war with Latina. I want to give up platform
to all the countries, not just I mean, like I said,
we were born and rais Milwaukee. So every year as well,
fire to make out. Here we go again, oh Port.
So after a while, I was like, man, what about
the rest of the country. Where's Columbia, Where's like they
don't have a voice and on a platform. So I said,
you know, let me give every let me give Cuba platform,

(08:17):
let me give Dominican Republic a platform to display you know,
like their their food, their their energy, their vibe, their
I mean their culture, you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Their dances, their their their music and everything.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Yeah, so I mean it's just like I said, it's
a dream come true. And man, I'm really excited.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
It's awesome. It's going to be a veterans park, right, yeah,
Veterans Park in September first.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
Yeah, and there is a fetal gate and get in.
If you purchase your tickets prior to it's ten dollars.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
It's only ten dollars. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Yeah, Hey, if you go at the gate, it's twenty dollars.
But it's worth it. I mean, you guys got to
take a look at the list of artists that he's
got and who's coming in.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
It's going to be pretty good.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Talk to me about those artists artist.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
Yeah, so I'll go, I'll go. But we're pretty much
break it down. Yeah, like he was saying, it's gonna
be ten dollars all the way until the day before
of So, man, if you want to get your tickets,
get it now, only ten dollars basically half all for
buy one free.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
They are going pretty fast. Well thanks to Jesse, He's
gonna have us. You know, we have some free tickets
to give away to our listeners. So we'll follow back
on how you can get some free tickets and two
VP tickets. So if you want to, you know, take
a day, Yeah, perfect.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
Dat, listen later on and we'll give you the instructions
on how you can get some free tickets. I'm sorry, no, no,
you're good.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
Yeah, ten dollars like I said online at the game,
we will do twenty and we're also going to have
VI I P v P pretty much gives you closer
access to the stage. We're gonna have two stages or
whichever you prefer. They can go back and forth if
you want to BEP bracelet. The reason why you want
to be closer obviously because you get better picks. You get,
you know, you get to get a great experience. But

(09:58):
also we're going to have a personal bar, personal drink
station and bar whatever you wanna call it at the
v I P. So the other word, we have three
more for general public admission in court, but those might
I'm not gonna do you like, lines might be a
little a little bigger. We're at the v P. There're
gonna be a little less less packed. So you're also
gonna have your personal bathrooms there as well. So it's

(10:18):
gonna be it's gonna be dope. Time to get your
VIP tickets. Definitely, it's definitely gonna be worth the Trust me.
When if I went after this, I'll show you the
layout of it. You're like, wow, it's definitely gonna be
worth it. So but though we have two stages, how
did the two stages break out? Like?

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Is there we have? We have today? Stage?

Speaker 4 (10:37):
Was which is there or a sponsor for that stage?
Amazing beer? I had MODELO, but you know, things happened.
You know, I don't want to talk about that said
this is our beer. So they went and took it
from It's all good shout out to Modello shout. But
then we all and then the other stage we have Madaiya,
which had a really great relationship with over the years. Yeah,

(11:01):
I mean they don't even do Portercan Festival this year
and there Porto Rican Beard. They said, they said, no,
we're picking you.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
I was like, why not take it? So it's always
loved for Maya.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
So yeah, two stages people you know asking wires there
two stages because this year we're only doing one day.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
Next year we're doing three days.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
So next year I already got a booked, already gosked
some deposits on artists. So Friday is gonna be more
of the house music, Latin house rock, Latin rock and
lat house. So like the Susie was at a little
Susie's in the world freestyle freestyle. So we got we
got Cynthia signed. I shouldn't be saying it, but aside
for next year, we're gonna bring it this year. But

(11:40):
I was like, you know what, maybe I wanna hold
you for next year.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
It gonna be nice, big here in Milwaukee. It's a
big ye. So Friday we're gonna take care of, the
take care of that.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
Saturday we're gonna then we're gonna it's gonna be one
stage next year, two stages because I'm bringing in the
different stage.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
So then our Saturday is gonna be.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
It's gonna be more of like the Corhedos Bondas or
Daniels Kumbia and of that nature. And then our satur
we're gonna go more of like the Saucetum.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
And they can't give you. I'll just try to keep
it the day separate, you know, separate. But let's talk
about this year. That's next year.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Each audience, everybody can choose. The audience will choose each
day they want to go, and if they want to
go three days, which would be pretty cool.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
Yeah, and I'm sure I'll have you know, all three
day pass and stuff like that, like Mexican Fields does.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
So that's next year.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
But this year, man, like I said, we got the
two stages, Madaiah, we got our state at Lease School
say stage. I mean it, people, Why you know, Mexican
fister have everything, they've got Mexican Faster, they've got this,
they've got that, they've got single to mind, they got us,
they have everything.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
But the reason you got to represent Mexico for a
simple fact. We're in Milwaukee. If you know if this,
if this was.

Speaker 4 (12:46):
In Cuba, they'd be having one artist on the stage
if nothing.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
But you know, Colombians and Cubans and portoric So I
get you know what I mean. So you you got
to show them to love you know, I said that
I love your line up, man, like the variety.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
I think, if I'm not wrong, Mexicans are what seven
out of all that you know, like seventy two percent
of the compilations, so that you know, you would be
an idiot not to put you know, some really good
bands for them.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
So yeah, I mean what I said.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
That stage we have we start off to night with
obviously some good DJs, some dope DJs, but we also
have a forgot the name of the dance group that
the girls that on other stage, dance group right next
to he does on there, the dance company. But but

(13:31):
they're more of a Mexican Okay, yeah, they're they're there
some Brazilian, Brazilian brazil that's those are Brazilian dances, SOMEBA dancers.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Okay, so that takes care of brazil d dance.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
So they're always at Mexican fists and they're the ones
with and the little girls and they dance really, so
that's gonna be really dope for traditional dance. We start
off with them, damn man, and then we just start
going into a bunch of bond Actually know we've got
those Thereto they're gonna do it.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
I don't know if it's because I'm getting older, but
I haven't heard of what do they do?

Speaker 3 (14:09):
Their local bandally good. Yeah, they're really good there, Cumbia,
a little bit of Latin rock.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
He's younger. Is that why they call them?

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Not to you?

Speaker 2 (14:22):
I need to get back on track.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
No, they're really good.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
They're good, but you've about a couple.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
Of festivals and slowly they just been doing their things.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
I haven't seen them.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
I'm excited to see them. I never I said I've
seen them once or twice. But it was really fast
and they're they're they're really professional men.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
I mean they into it and everything.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
They get into it. Like I said, they can pretty
much see anything. But they're gonna go hard on New Mexican.
Say they're gonna go more of Cumbia and some Latin rocks.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
All I want to know is which stage is going
to be. You're going to have Frank my diastage.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
You know that's we're gonna put them. That's that's what I.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Want to go in. That side maya side just put
me down for that.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
But the mother side said, I even have.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
Linda and Jeannette don't Oh yeah, they're gonna be in
seeing that stage. So shout out to them, Shout out
to Jeanette. But yeah, they're definitely gonna make make some
noise over there, have some fune with it. So yeah,
we have three different bands, uh Suits from Chicago, so
BANDA black A local local BANDA and then you have
uh Miguel which is pretty big market probably the best
ones in Hawaukee band and then yeah, some good local DJs.

(15:32):
And then our co co headliner of the night is
on that stage would be our North Daniel band or they're.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
Actually from Dallas Sex. They're really hot right now group versa.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
Okay, so Northaniels from Dallas Sexa's these guys are hot.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
For next year. I have a recommendation from Texas that
you must yeah for this. It's really a great group
and I still connect with them and they did a
great job when I brought it. They brought a lot
of people. They were we'll talk a little bit little
about that, but there were Grammy Awards or recipients. So
and they're very humble, very humble, and they would love

(16:09):
to do that. So we'll talk about maybe having that
next year.

Speaker 4 (16:12):
Yeah, we'll talk for cool. Like I said, man, I'm
just a big fan of they're young, they're younger. Usually
when you see that, you know Daniel band with the
cowboy hats, they're all older. These guys are definitely young.
I would say maybe in twenty four, twenty three. Yeah,
they bring out it, but with their music is so
amazing that they're gonna bring out the young and the
old and it's gonna be really really dobe event and
on in the and then the headliner of that stage

(16:34):
selling like a lot of tickets.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
This guy's name is Danny Lux.

Speaker 4 (16:38):
Danny Lux is like a Corrillo House type of type
of guy.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
I really that one. I did have to look up
a little.

Speaker 4 (16:46):
Daddy looks I'm not gonna lie. I'm not gonna lie, lie,
Daddy looks, Donny looks I'm gonna lie. When I was
talking Janetta and Uh Janetta Linda, I was like, man,
I need somebody hot right now. I need somebody as
you know, She's like well there's somebody out in California
right now.

Speaker 3 (16:59):
It's just blown up. Really.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
I mean he's like best of bloo mine and there's
a bunch a couple of other guys undernath him, and
that's him right there.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
But he's coming slowly, you know.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
So I started I started doing some search and I
was like wow, and then I started asking around like
daddy looks, oh my god, he's coming.

Speaker 3 (17:11):
Oh my god. So people you're like women, the little
girls love him, man, So I did have to look
up a little bit. But yeah, well he's actually following though,
like a huge following.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
I think he's gonna be our number one headliner, Like
he's gonna be last one performing at eight thirty, so thirty.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
Yeah, I had to put him at the man because
there's so many little girls that.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
Wanted I saw that he's like closing it out. That's awesome,
and that's that's that stage.

Speaker 4 (17:34):
And then obviously down the other stage we sat off
for he does got to bring them. I mean, I
know you people are like, oh, we see him everywhere.
You're going to continue him everywhere because they're amazing and shout,
We're going to get him on the show too.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
I have been around since the girls were like this side.
And it's really funny because now they're all taller than
me and I look at them and I like, they're
oh yeah. I said, oh my god, I said, you
guys gotta stop growing knock it off. But they do
a great job. They really work very hard. They have

(18:07):
a lot of you know, awards and a lot of
premios and then their receipt from their dancing. So I'm
very proud of them.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
They're good.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
And we also and right after them, obviously, we got
some local DJs. I'm actually proud of those DJ. So
there's a DJ by name of mister New York. He's
not Latino at all. You know, people are going to
confuse him, say, oh, he must be Dominican. Iircute, No,
he's not African American. But this guy has so much
love in the Latin community, man, and they, I mean,

(18:37):
they appreciate him, and he appreciates us and the culture.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
I maybe where we go.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
He I mean, he's probably the hottest he is, he's
the best teaching been voted in so but man, he'll
he'll he's gonna throw it down with some Latin tunes.
So I'm glad to have him up there also to
we've got three local artists that are gonna do it
more like the regged thon bring them all a little earlier. Yeah,
we've got to no Ja. Yeah he'll he'll be next,

(19:02):
but it's gonna be Jay Lewis, who's amazing. And then
we got to carry by name of Gucci Kid.

Speaker 3 (19:07):
He's probably ten.

Speaker 4 (19:08):
Years old or something, I don't know what, maybe nine
years old. The guy can the guy is amazing, little
or guy's amazing. And and then I had a I
don't want to say steal, but I mean I said
I didn't make it to Portican Festival. Fortunately, I had
a lot of things going on that day. I wanted to,
but I just couldn't make it. But uh, I was watching,

(19:29):
you know, I was watching the shows, you know everybody,
you know, I had like lives and stuff.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
I was like, Okay, oh, that's who that guy is.
That's who this guy is. I thought it was okay,
my god. I don't know any of the artists.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
That were brought from Puerto Rico or wherever we're from.
I don't know any of them not sitting there there bad.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
I just don't know. I never heard of him.

Speaker 4 (19:45):
But then there was one guy that stole his should
I was like, no way, this guy just did that
wow like and that was the guy by name was
Zunk Roland.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
So I called him up. I got his number. I
don't know how I got and people you know what number?
You know it's uber.

Speaker 4 (19:59):
I got his number. I was like, hey, I need
you to perform at Fritz Latina. And he was like,
I let you know, I'll let you know. I was like, no, no,
I don't need I let you know. I'm I need you.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
You're gonna be there.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
They say yes, He's like, so we got him to perform.
He's gonna put on the show. He's got his guitars,
he's gonna have his whole band.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
So he's there.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
And then and then we go into a group of exposion.
Who's a medinga band? Really at me? But I would
say a lot of people say why you brought them
last year? While I bring them in this year, you know,
for a Criban festival now Latina. The problem is there's
really no medinga band in Milwaukee.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
And I want to bring it. I want to, but
why not? Though? I mean, it's a different festival.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
Remember, I remember the only group that I remember that
was Mednge was by what's his name? Said Hugh and
he had was good yeah and they did that but
he yeah. So that's the only band that I recall

(20:56):
being Medinge locally.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
Yeah, and now there's not.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
This is the only man in Milwaukee.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
It might even be Chicago Charlie for one in Chicago,
I couldn't find one. Now I know we do chapter
and now that's it. It's crazy.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
Where's a group of explos I'm from? Is this Madison, Milwaukee, Walkee?

Speaker 4 (21:15):
Yeah, local Milwaukee, really really good, really good guys. I
haven't messed aboard some times.

Speaker 3 (21:19):
Bass, you know, I think the base Joey were playing.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
Joe Yeah, he may play the bass because he plays
in different bands.

Speaker 4 (21:26):
I think he's gonna play for them, but he's also
he's gonna stick around and play.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
For j T as well. He's good. He's a good basement.

Speaker 4 (21:34):
Yeah, And obviously j Tours is gonna be our chapter guy.
Local look arts for Milwaukee. Really amazing.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
So the group of explosions on at four o'clock, four
o'clock and then JT's out at five and then and
then we got the legendary South Satto frank On from
the East.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Coat East I'm looking for.

Speaker 3 (21:51):
Yeah, he's a new Jersey guy. So he's he's he's a.

Speaker 4 (21:54):
Good act man. I've met I've met him before a
couple of times. Really cool guy man. The guys still
got a voice for his age. I mean, obviously there's
a lot of soft Settles out there still performing, but
their voice, a lot of their voices have gone down.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
His is still up there.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
So I was like, why not bringing the Milwaukee Yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
And that's uh, what is like, it's gonna be the
my dire stage stage o'clock Frank frank Ye six six o'clock, Oregan, Mariah,
Ryan Angelique is the hell was Ryan? But then I'm like, dang,
she's a little bigger than I thought.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Yeah, Ryan Angelina's he's another one that she's on at
seven thirty. I was like, yeah, I saw that she
was like opening up for Yeah, She's like, look, she's
a she's a Miami She's the princess of Miami.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
What they call her. She's a toxic. She's very ty,
but she's.

Speaker 4 (22:38):
Real, you know. But she's she's very beautiful, very young,
twenty four years old, actually had an opportunity to talk
to her in Miami.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
So super humble woman.

Speaker 4 (22:48):
I mean this is following huge following at one point
following so and then she actually did a song with
Cottle actually want a Grammy off it, so obviously, I
you know, because I think Mark of the Cattle g party.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
But regardless, you still want to grab me. It's still
still part of it. She got the plaque.

Speaker 4 (23:03):
Yeah, so she's gonna perform that song that she was
got on G on stage. Okay, she's super dope. She's
done a lot of tickets as well. I think her
and her and Danny likes her. Two top selling tickets.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
We're actually getting a lot.

Speaker 4 (23:15):
Of people from Chicago for for from Right Angelique, just because,
like I said, man, just the way she performs and
so she puts on the show like and she's such
a diva.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
Like you know, every every.

Speaker 4 (23:25):
Time I book an artist, you get like what they
want up from and trailer, they want this, they want Okay,
you have a bottle.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
So Frankie wants his little bottle, you know whatever. He
wants strawberries with the shape of the on it. So
she was like, she was like, I want M and
MS but they all gotta be pink.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
I gotta be where do you get the pink? You
know what?

Speaker 3 (23:46):
We're gonna find out.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
A lot of artists do that though, because they want
to know if you're attendive to what the detail exactly,
because if you don't like something, the stuff like they
just put in there just to see if you catch it. Yeah,
but if you're good on planning it, you're gonna catch Yeah.
We're gonna take some I'm actually doing. I do want,
I do want myself well, and there's other things in there.

Speaker 4 (24:05):
I ain't gonna say you an embarrass her, but but there's
a couple of things in there. I was looking at
the paper, like she really wants. So we're gonna, you know,
we're gonna take care her needs. But like I said,
she's she's a divas. But she puts on the show
and I can't wait to see her. And I mean,
she's gonna have fire and everything coming out, and.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
She's gonna be at the min that yesterday.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
She's a dast stage just seven thirty as soon as
she finishes in day X was the final act of
the night at eight thirty.

Speaker 3 (24:28):
N thirty is done. Get everybody out of the park
by ten and then yeah, so the whole thing is
from what time to what time eleven am to ten pm.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
And then for those that are vendors, they go in earlier.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
They'll be out. Yeah, they'll be in there earlier. I
already talked a bunch of I wanted to talk on
that because the most important part is the food. Yeah,
food one of the ful. So I asked a little
bit about who's gonna so I had uh. I was
just talking with Marina.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
I said she was excited, see because she went to
put on her husband with alder women and she's like,
I have to have my thoughtstone is and I got
food and she's he's like a total Puerto Rican. Yeah
we got we got you six different vendors. Now no
where you got you? So so yeah, we've got six.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
I didn't try.

Speaker 4 (25:08):
I was trying to stay at five, but we're at six.
Puerto Rican vendors are really good. All of them are
here from here in Milwaukee, except on restaurants from Chicago.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
The other five are local.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
That we've got five, well, I'll say four Mexicans and
then I want to look that guyse was corn corn Man.
Then we got one man of swelling, one man swelling booth,
one proving that's gonna sell proving food.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
Who is there? There's a couple other ones. Oh, bellies,
believe or not, you would think bellies.

Speaker 4 (25:40):
Belly's gonna be selling wings and I don't know what
they're selling, but bellies, they they're more like a soul,
you know, type of restaurant.

Speaker 3 (25:47):
He throws. I know Mike Mills, Yeah for sure. So yeah,
he's gonna he's gonna be there.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
We got a guy Burgers and yeah, I just learned about.

Speaker 3 (25:59):
Yeah, we need a one on Mitchell.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
You know, they just open, they are looking to start
there doing. The food is really good. It's right on
I think I'm Mitchell and eighteen seventeen around there. Then
you see they have a little grocery store next what
they have their truck and they sell food right there.
And I did try to get her to call for

(26:23):
the Caribbean Festival, but it was too soon for them
because they were just about to start doing that.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Yeah maybe let me know.

Speaker 4 (26:29):
Like I said, every year, I want I want to
bring in a different I don't want to just stick
to Mexican porter because I guess once again it's like
we've we've done this all our lives.

Speaker 3 (26:37):
I want good to have some other like yeah, and
I want to give.

Speaker 4 (26:40):
Them their platform because I mean, it sucks having a
Guatemalan come to the you know, to the fest, love
the music. You know, we got one of our acts
on next year or something like that bars the food ad,
you know, Like.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
So I want to try to get one. Pedros is
good too. I'm working on.

Speaker 4 (26:55):
I'm working on Argentina right now, and I'm working at
a couple other ones. It's hard, you know, because I
said that a lot of them are smaller businesses and
it's just really tough for them. So if I have
to get a disc on, I will. But I want
to make sure every year we get more and more
more cultures from Latin American countries.

Speaker 2 (27:11):
What's the cost if you want to be a food vendor?

Speaker 4 (27:15):
Depending well, and it really depends, like I just said, obviously,
we're we're already cut off Puerto Rican food vendors because
we I think six is good good enough. Yeah, Mexican
at five, we're good enough Mexican wives, but we're open
for anything else. So yeah, and I'm willing to, like,
you know, when it comes to just bringing different food
for different you know, for different countries.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
I'll hook them up and have you.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Have you talked to Marta from Chef pass.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
Yer.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
She does great.

Speaker 4 (27:46):
Actually, I love she calls me. She called me her
sugar baby.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
Say we're put on the show too, like we got
to get on the show. She's a trip home. Her
food is really good.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
I go there and I have a specific plate that
I like and it's the one cilantro and then fill
and then that's yeah, that's good.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker 4 (28:19):
You gotta make me hungry. I might go after that least.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
It's crazy. It's tempting.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
With him being so close to here, I'd be like, man,
I'm a head of just.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
A couple of times. I've had big times.

Speaker 4 (28:34):
Right there, and we're trying to actually to bring some
bring some people from the community as well. Obviously Marina
is gonna come say something. Uh she's talking to alder women.
Joke ass to come say something as well. I think
hose days out of time that we can hose press.
Otherwise he always supports, so I know he would have
been there. But yeah, we're gonna have some people come in.
Obviously you're talking to talking to people.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
Is there like an opening ceremony or anything like, yeah, open?

Speaker 2 (29:00):
What time is your opening here?

Speaker 3 (29:01):
You're probably gonna be.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
Around two o'clock, two o clock, She's just give them
some people and stuff.

Speaker 3 (29:07):
Yeah, around two o'clock.

Speaker 4 (29:08):
So we're gonna have two different open ceremony when I
put or the Sausa stage one of the other stage.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
So yeah, i' we're excited about that. And just to
bring some you know, some people.

Speaker 4 (29:18):
It's bigger community to come and say something, you know,
shake some hands, take pictures, and.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
Especially gives a good positive vibe and stuff, you know, yeah,
to for all of them.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
I mean I think, isn't it a selection for joke?

Speaker 2 (29:29):
Yeah? Selection here. Yeah, and a lot of.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
Over five thousand Latinos the community in her community are
coming to see her. So it'd be good if you know,
for them to see a face and go okay, okay, yeah,
we're gonna vote for her. She was amazing, you know,
she's so nice. She took a picture of us. So yeah,
we're gonna bring all them out there.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
Well, I made some phone calls, as I told you,
and I'm getting some responses back, so.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
Okay, that's awesome. And we're trying to bring the Brewers,
but they're gonna be out of town.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
But I do know Brewers personally because they're coming somewhere
a lot now. Sexting twe of them, I was like, man,
you guys got to come down. They're like, no, we're
going to be in Cincinnati. I think they played there
the year So I'm like, ah, so, unfortunately Birds won't
be in town.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
But Milwaukee Admirals are doing really well. I know that
the president of the Milwaukee Admirals, so Roscoe would be
fun to have walk around. He's awesome. If he's not
playing a game or anything, maybe I'll bring him in.
I'll just tell him he's he's great with with everybody.
And with that Beans that, I wanted to ask you something.
The event is family oriented. Are they allowed to bring

(30:31):
I mean, are you looking to have kids?

Speaker 3 (30:34):
You have so so yeah, so posted yeah, So you're
not following the post.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
Wait, I do know that he's going to have some
bouncy houses and stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
So this is this is what happens. So obviously.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
I was shooting more towards like a Latin music festival
event and kind of what I wanted to do. But
then after talking with you know, some people, and they
were just like, hey, you know, you hear about that
fight that happened at me hit the Fast And.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
They didn't do anything wrong. They create the owner.

Speaker 4 (31:09):
They're actually really good don Bee and Armando. They do
a really good job.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
At it, and that some things you just can't control.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
Somethings you just can't control. But to be honest with you,
though nobody went to hospital and there was no citations issued.
It just looked bad on Facebook, you know the fights.
It looks bad on Facebook. So they took a hit
for that. So I didn't want that. I didn't want
the same thing to happen, obviously. I don't want nobody
wants that to happen, obviously. So we're gonna go more
of a family theme this year. Yeah, I opened up

(31:35):
a kids section. We're gonna have a little ponies, pony
rides for the kids, face painting, con candy, bounce houses
and stuff, and we're gonna now now we're allowing eight
years old and under for free.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
And to them, that sound a good idea because sometimes
with me having ale know, sometimes it restricts me to
for sure, in a couple of places.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
And we're actually gonna hire more security as well, and
we're gonna put one whole security. That's his whole job
is literally be in that section, watch the kids, make
sure nobody's getting hurt, nobody's fighting.

Speaker 3 (32:04):
Nothing. Just make sure that your job is.

Speaker 4 (32:06):
Just specifically just to take care of the kids, you know,
because I don't want to Yeah. So, and I also
suspended the liquor sales. So I want to talk about
So I.

Speaker 3 (32:14):
Did suspended liquor sales. It was like, are you crazy,
that's where the money's at.

Speaker 4 (32:17):
And I'm like, bro, it doesn't Once again, when if
I got rid of Atlantic because I didn't want problems
with the police department.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
I have a relationship with the police department, have a
good relationship with.

Speaker 4 (32:25):
Ali Me Marine Jose Prez j Okay, So I don't
it doesn't matter to me. Money doesn't matter me. I
want to make sure they respect me the same I'm
respect them and the neighborhood, you know, neighborhood, the Latino
you know, community. So I want to make sure I
do my part. So they're like, wow, that's crazy. You
just took a big hit money wise, and like it
just doesn't matter. I want to have a great event.
I want to be success and I want to make

(32:45):
sure everybody leaves out of here and goes wow, Like
you know, he put on a show, we ate amazing food,
our kids was playing. We're happy, you know, and like
you said, paying at twenty dollars at the door or
ten hours online, there's other other festivals out here that
are charging you know, prices me and then they're bringing
I don't know what they're bringing, but we're bringing we're
putting on the show.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
So yeah, that's that's all I care about. Man, I
can safety, So that's good. That's a great idea too.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
So eight and under eight children.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
Do twelve?

Speaker 2 (33:16):
No? I think aden under is basically any age.

Speaker 4 (33:20):
And the reason why I did that was also because
Danny Lux has a big following from like eleven, twelve, thirteen.
So I'm like, I was like, can you imagine how
many thirteen and eleven year olds being there if I
didn't for free, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
That's a good number'd be nothing but kids, you know.

Speaker 4 (33:35):
So I was like, yeah, I don't want eleven year
old you know, so you know, you know, me to
somebody actidentally stepping on an eleven year old. Now, oh,
you step on the kid, and I want the kids there,
but I don't want an entire elementary schools.

Speaker 3 (33:50):
For DANNYX.

Speaker 2 (33:51):
And you know, us latinas parents, we like to bring
our kids along to everything that we doing. Festival and share,
so that's a great you know, I mean aid and
under would be great. I've done events where you know,
you have to be basically five and under a three.
So for you doing eight and eight and under, that's

(34:12):
great because that would be a big help to the families. Now,
even if they're older than eight, if they go and
purchase the tickets ahead, it's only ten dollars, so don't
wait to go to the door to buy them because
they'll be more expensive. But I mean either way, it
is fine if you can afford it. Yeah, but that's great.
That's great that you're doing that. Who are you using

(34:34):
for security as MPD.

Speaker 4 (34:35):
Or Yeah, so we do so obviously MPD that they
don't run the park systems of sheriffs too, so I paid,
we paid them so they'll be they'll be there. Paid
sheriffs to be there. We actual share. We also have
the sheriff cadet sing which is which is cool. Pretty
much you know sheriffs that are about to become sheriff,
but they're look, you know, they're younger and they're just
learning the ways.

Speaker 3 (34:55):
So we've got them coming.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
We also have actually as well, there's a Latino Association
with police officers and sheriffs and state troopers and you
know everything enforcement there.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
Are the ACE.

Speaker 4 (35:05):
Matter of fact, ACE is one of the guys that
run it. So yeah, he set that up for me, man. Yeah,
I didn't ask him for it. He said, brother, I
got you. We're have some paid officers off through the
officers for you. You don't have to pay us anything.
You want to want to donate something great, but you
don't have to give us anything. We're gonna make sure
you know you have a great event. We need we
need more invests like this in the community. And so
a shout out to a shout out to MPD District

(35:27):
two district too especially. Yeah that and plus also we're
gonna have a lot of pay security as well. I
got twelve plus another six, so it was at eighteen
eighteen six. The six are big boys. The other twelve
where I actually paid security as well. So we have
a lot of security in there, man, I guess said,
I'm not I'm not risking it.

Speaker 3 (35:47):
That's good. So it's just going to be safe. Is
there some restrictions on people bringing in? Like can they
bring coolers? Can they bring chairs?

Speaker 4 (35:54):
Can they can bring their chairs? They can bring umbrellas,
but yeah, no, no, no, no cooler, cool quarters. We're
gonna be checking purses. We are going to be what
do you call that go through the Yeah, we're white
people down, so we want to make sure. Like I said,
everyone saying that's that's all I care. At the end
of the day, I'm happy with even if I don't
make a penny.

Speaker 3 (36:14):
I don't care.

Speaker 4 (36:15):
I want to fest you know, when I'm no longer
here to continue on. Whoever takes it over takes over.
But I want to continue on because I think the
city Milwaukee really needs this man. But like I said,
I'm not no, not not bashing all the other festivals,
Mesking Festal those one hundred and ten thousand people.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
That's huge every year. Last year they're about to do one,
twenty year one.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
Last year we hit one hundred and thirty something thousand
something I work with. I have been part of Fiesta
for twenty five years. Yeah, I missed too missed the
year that.

Speaker 4 (36:50):
And I have never made somebody even my girl told me,
we're going right quarter powers here, we'll be there. So yeah,
like I said, no, no, no banging to them or
not because they they're doing amazing, and well I want
them to do amazing.

Speaker 3 (37:02):
But like I said, that just takes care of one
country in Milwaukee. What about the rest? You know what
I mean?

Speaker 4 (37:08):
We just had Puerto Rica. I was text care two.
But what about Cuba? What about you know, Columbia's coming,
Minican Republic, Communicans. Yeah, so there's there's a lot of
other countries that are like man, that's not fair.

Speaker 3 (37:17):
What about us? I want to be their voices. I
got you guys, you know, get them a bag. We're
gonna take you. We're gonna take you.

Speaker 4 (37:23):
Have a good events every year, and every year I'm
gonna change it up. Like I said, next year, I
got a band from Venezuelan band say their name, but
it's old school bat swelling band.

Speaker 3 (37:33):
It's gonna be get even doing it for three days.
That's a big deal. Three days. It's hard to do. Yeah,
to make it one day, right, yeah, exactly, You to
be able to do it three days it's more power
to you, man.

Speaker 4 (37:44):
Yeah, And I'm excited man, And we'll see how things go.
Like I said, there's leave it in God's hand.

Speaker 2 (37:50):
But you know, I know it's going to be a
great event. I know it's going to be a great event.
And I know that you work really hard, work really hard,
very hard. It's not easy. So I do. I do events.
So you got to always pick and choose and not
just that. There's a point where you have to say no,
and then any tiny little details make a big difference.

(38:12):
And I've seen you cover pretty much all of those.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
Yeah, so far.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
Otherwise I was going to say, hmm, no, no, no,
but paramedics, anybody you have.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
We're going to have one paramedic, okay, good, just in case,
you know, just in case.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
And that's only as a precaution. I remember, I used
to work with the Red Crossing. They no longer do that.

Speaker 1 (38:33):
It happens though, I mean people just walking, Yeah, they
want to go outside and the heat or something, yeah,
stroke or something none to do with the event, anything else.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
I've been testing him and throwing questions on things that
normally and and he's.

Speaker 3 (38:50):
Covered all of it.

Speaker 4 (38:51):
And once again, I'm not gonna die. This actually comes
from the experience I've built over the last two years.
Like I said, huge things to a big different cook.
And also, like I said, Morales that just did Porterican Festival.
So shout out to both them guys. Man, Without them,
I would have none of this knowledge, and I wouldn't
be here right now. If it's the Latino wouldn't be here.
And like I said, Latino community would still be going.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
Man, what about us?

Speaker 4 (39:11):
So think, like I said, thank thanks to both them
guys for even even now. I mean, I text Victor
all the time, Hey man, I need help on these
porter potties. Where I go, He's like, are you young?

Speaker 3 (39:21):
And here you go and he gets to me. So
it's it's all love, you know, And that's why it
should be. It's so fortunate.

Speaker 4 (39:27):
Whatever happened with them, I don't I don't know what
happened with them in front of my business. But like
I said, maybe maybe one day, you know, we'll all
get together and sit down and talk.

Speaker 3 (39:34):
Or something else. So what's the future. What's the future
for the festival and for somewhere to be What can
we expect a little bit?

Speaker 4 (39:41):
So we're tropical is gonna stay, stay, stay there. Signed
a ten yearly, so I'm not going anywhere next ten years.
I know a lot of people like you know.

Speaker 1 (39:49):
They're not gonna be a great spot, man, like great spots.

Speaker 4 (39:53):
The baby community supports me so much, man, and I
love the baby baby community.

Speaker 3 (39:57):
I really, I really wanted.

Speaker 4 (39:58):
Walkers walk Chris Area. And I'm working on something. We're
working on, I mean something, you're right there. I mean
what I mean that's so active right there.

Speaker 3 (40:09):
Oh yeah it is. It's probably the most active spot
it is. But I mean, I was born and raised,
you know, in the Jose's district, so I actually believe
it not. I actually was going to get a restaurant
in that district. But then something happened.

Speaker 4 (40:21):
Uh at least fell out with the guy that used
to own Jinks that he passed away now you know,
recipes sad, but it just fell out. So then I
you know, I said, okay, let's let's go to Baby then,
so we made it happen being a business partners.

Speaker 3 (40:33):
So we're excited about that.

Speaker 4 (40:35):
And then as far as Latina, man, we're I'm gonna
put my I'm gonna put my all into it.

Speaker 3 (40:40):
And when I say I put my onto it.

Speaker 4 (40:41):
I mean, I'm gonna I'm gonna better myself if I
have put my house on it.

Speaker 3 (40:45):
If I have to, I'm going to every year. It's
gonna get bigger and bigger. I'm excited already for next year. Yeah,
so every year is gonna be bigger and bigger.

Speaker 2 (40:54):
And to do it on Summer fast ground.

Speaker 4 (40:57):
No, actually, I don't want to go to fest grounds.
I feel as if Summerfest ground. I don't like talking
bad about coming Summer Fest grounds. I talked about this
year and they were just like, no, you know, unfortunately
it's too too close to Mexican Fest and obviously they
have a really good, good relationship with Mexican Festa, which
I was, okay, cool. I was like, you you're not
even giving an opportunity, you know, I mean, you're giving

(41:19):
Irish people opportunity. You're giving Irish and German and Pride
everybody else the opportunity, but you don't want to give
the other countries the opportunity.

Speaker 3 (41:25):
They're like Mexican.

Speaker 4 (41:27):
So I said, okay, that's cool, that's crazy, that's cool.
I was like, I'm I'm not gonna hate you guys.

Speaker 3 (41:31):
You know, it is what it is.

Speaker 4 (41:32):
So I moved on and I found Anottle home for
us hopefully next year. I across my fingers, really dope.
I don't want to give there's still the spots, you know. Yeah,
that's beautiful spot. So I don't want to give out
the location yet, but get on to the spot. But
like I said, I was also thinking the same thing.
I was talking about my girlfriend and she's like, well, baby,
you know, be honest with you. Everything's at Summerfest. It's like, oh,

(41:54):
he goes to stage again. You even want to go
to Mexicanast to see power. I go to Sea Portic
and Power. But it's like, already know what to expect.
Food dealers, how was laid out? Nothing new, nothing fresh,
like they did a new renovation.

Speaker 3 (42:06):
The Yeah, it's the same skeleton, the same thing from
the from the eighties.

Speaker 4 (42:10):
It's the same cores. Different yeah, once in a while,
different sponsor. Now they're taking out Miller and putting somebody up.
That's all they're doing. So I was like, I just
feel like they did the renovation. So so yeah, like
I said, the location I have picked out for next
year definitely hot. I say, I'll give you guys, like
I said, he it might be, you know, closer downtown

(42:31):
Bucks area.

Speaker 3 (42:32):
So we're getting ready.

Speaker 4 (42:34):
We're getting ready for for Festal Latina twenty twenty five.
But but no, like I said, every year, man, I
just want to I want to grow it. You know,
like I said, I'm sorry for the bottom. I mean,
if you think if you look at it.

Speaker 3 (42:45):
Portga Festival first year, they did five hundred underneath the bridge.
I was there. It was a pretty dope time. You know.

Speaker 4 (42:50):
They started five hundred and then they got up to
a while. I think I think Victor had it what
like forty thousand people or something.

Speaker 2 (42:57):
He had a really good number. It was actually not
forty round twenty.

Speaker 4 (43:02):
Five twenty twenty five thirty thousand people in the parks
man and this year they probably they probably had about
twenty five hundred, three thousand, I.

Speaker 3 (43:09):
Would say at the door, which is still good.

Speaker 4 (43:12):
That's still good about But like I said, they start
off at five hundred, you know, and then it went
up and then are bright down.

Speaker 3 (43:17):
I think I think it's because of the charging. Yeah,
I just you know, I think it's what it is.

Speaker 4 (43:23):
I'm Puerto Rican, I love my people. I'm Puerto Rican,
but we are chief.

Speaker 2 (43:30):
Finished.

Speaker 1 (43:31):
When you think about it, like you like, the people
that complain about having to pay for the ticket, is
the same one that pay for the ticket that Yeah,
so the same one that goes.

Speaker 3 (43:38):
With the English fair It's the same one.

Speaker 4 (43:39):
I go, right, And that's not fair and that's not fair,
and that's not fair to the Puerto Rican culture. That's
not fair to the community. Yeah, that should be.

Speaker 3 (43:47):
It should be more like I'm gonna supportive exactly. My
people don't want to go exactly, and to be fair to.

Speaker 2 (43:52):
The actual festival itself, whichever one it is. They don't
realize what it takes. There's call, there's cost for every
single thing, every single thing. And if you do it
and you do it for free, which Victor did it
for so many years, I mean, but it was hard.
And I know it's hard because there is a cost

(44:14):
for everything in licensing, impermits and sounds.

Speaker 3 (44:19):
You know she wanted to be so you want it
to be. Yeah, yeah, it's sustainable.

Speaker 4 (44:23):
But at the same time, you want everybody happy, and
and I understand you can't make everybody, that's almost impossible.
But your goal is to try to make all the
vendors happy. You want them you know what I'm saying.
You don't want to burn a relationship with a vendor.
You want the artists to be happy. You know, I
want Bar hits me up to this day.

Speaker 3 (44:39):
Hey can we let's go out.

Speaker 4 (44:41):
I'm coming to Milwaukee when you can bring back you know,
because we have such a good relationship. For when I
brought her, uh, Frank Junior hits me apoliticized. So all
these artists always hitting me up like, hey, you know,
let me know when you're ready again. I got other
artists that can bring you. So you want to build
that relationship with artists, even local artists. You know, you
don't want to piss them off, but also the community,
not only like the mayor and not not only them obviously,

(45:02):
but you don't want to piss off the community as one.

Speaker 3 (45:05):
You know. So that that's tough.

Speaker 4 (45:07):
That's that's tough, trying not piss everybody off. And like
you said, it's can't make everybody. You can't make everybody happy.
But at the same time, I think Victor was close.
He's probably closest to making everybody happy. He doesn't have
the biggest numbers, you know, it's Curban Festival, but everybody's
happy and everybody who had.

Speaker 3 (45:26):
A great time and they have happy.

Speaker 4 (45:27):
Then you have other festivals that have way more people,
but then you got vendors that are pissed, artists are
pissed at them, and then you know, so it's tough.
I said, that's the hardest part of making people every happy,
build relations because you don't want to be known.

Speaker 3 (45:40):
As that asshole in town.

Speaker 2 (45:43):
No you don't.

Speaker 3 (45:43):
But that's the hard part. Yeah, And like you said,
a lot of money, a lot of patience, a lot
of stress, a lot of you know, man like.

Speaker 2 (45:49):
So it's a it's all fair. I mean, it comes.
I mean, if you really want to support, you're going
to pay. Whether it's the ten dollars so they're twenty dollars,
you're gonna pay for it. Besides, who's gonna want to
miss go lineup that you have amazing line and it's
going to be so great, And I think it's going
to be a great opportunity because you have different cultures

(46:09):
within the same festival.

Speaker 3 (46:12):
That's what. That's what.

Speaker 4 (46:13):
That's why I've been preaching on that. You guys probably
stick like IOP talking about all the cultures. No, no,
but that's what I want, you know, like I was saying,
five hundred their first year Protgram Festival, five hundred. I
talked Mexican Fists that when they did it on Fourth
and Bruce, their first year ever, fifteen hundred people.

Speaker 3 (46:27):
Now they're at a one hundred.

Speaker 4 (46:28):
You said one hundred and twenty five thousand, So our
first year, we're looking anywhere from twenty five to a
five thousand people are our first year, So you know
what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (46:36):
So you got to do the math on that. Every year.
Every year, my next year is.

Speaker 4 (46:40):
Somehow get it to ten thousand, and after ten thousands,
they're trying to get it to twenty thousand. After twenty thousands,
I get. So I always I want to do I
always want to outdo myself. And like I said, there's
no competition and in between the festivals. On my end,
I don't know about everybody else's, but on my end,
I wish they all do well. I think the more
festivals in Milwaukee, the better for the better for the people,
no better for community.

Speaker 2 (46:59):
And so I heard somebody from Madison say, hey, you
guys do all these festivals in Milwaukee. There isn't one
festival Latino Festival in Madison at all.

Speaker 3 (47:12):
We're going to.

Speaker 5 (47:15):
And I said, oh, well, I know, a guy said,
had the brand we're branded out, might even might even
show up to Adverton or Green Bay eventually.

Speaker 3 (47:26):
So you know, they never seen they never seen no letting.

Speaker 4 (47:31):
But believe it or not, our tickets, brother, you can
look at when people are buying tickets or names, and
their adjust and their emails and stuff, because we want
some emails, you know, for next year, and a lot
of people are coming from Green Bay and Abington Oscar.

Speaker 3 (47:43):
I was surprised. I was like, oh, Chicago bring a.

Speaker 4 (47:46):
Lot of So to be honest with you, I think
we're selling more tickets than Madison, Green Bay, Oscach, Milwaukee.

Speaker 3 (47:52):
But that's because they don't.

Speaker 2 (47:55):
Have festivals and they want to come and enjoy it
and they want to experience like the whole food and
the cultures and that, so that makes a big difference.
I'm really proud of you, Jesse, because you've done so
much for the community, including you know, when I was
real sick, you still put I mean, you sit up
to the plate and you helped you fundraising for me.

(48:15):
So that's something I'll never forget.

Speaker 3 (48:17):
And I think we're most too. I think you needed
to help with and I did.

Speaker 4 (48:21):
I always tell everybody, yeah, bro to anybody says like,
oh Carmeny, don't don't even say just.

Speaker 2 (48:26):
How much what she wanted we get a check book out? No, no,
but I appreciate that. And it's been great working with you.
I know you have a little see that. I mean,
she's so beautiful and all your kids are gorgeous, so
beautiful grand girlfriend and I've seen her so she's cute. No,
but thank you for everything that you're doing. I know

(48:49):
that you're trying to be neutral and you're trying to
get along with everyone, and I know that you work
with Victor and we hope that you continue that relationship
on behalf of the Antm'm not just Carmen myself. You know,
we are going to be sponsoring a little bit on
this year, but next year we'll do better because then
that way I can plan accordingly and then you can

(49:11):
always count on me whenever.

Speaker 4 (49:12):
It's I appreciate it. Yeah, also to ant them there
they sponsored this year as.

Speaker 3 (49:17):
Well, So no shout out saying that's that's our sponsor to.

Speaker 2 (49:23):
I try, I try, I try.

Speaker 1 (49:27):
Yeah, I appreciate your brother for for coming on the
show and stuff and tell some people like how do
they get tickets?

Speaker 3 (49:32):
How to people like right now? Get right now? You
like listening to the.

Speaker 4 (49:35):
Show, go to restaurant, restaurant, Uh, my restaurants, War Tropical
selling tickets, Revival selling tickets, to Loom restaurant and babies
off selling tickets and then what's the name of the company?

Speaker 3 (49:46):
I forget? Uh Linda, Linda, and they're gonna be there
as well.

Speaker 4 (49:51):
I was.

Speaker 2 (49:52):
I was hoping she was there. I love she so
Normally on Sundays she parks on kk like right by
saying Luke Hospital, and every Sunday I kind of drive
to see if she's there to get my strawberry, my
berries with that true role. And then the last couple
of Sunday she hasn't been there, and I'm like, the.

Speaker 4 (50:13):
Festivals a break, she's on the radio, she's got her
text whenever she does the taxing, she got the truck,
she's got.

Speaker 3 (50:24):
A new baby.

Speaker 4 (50:25):
You know what I'm saying, Like she's doing She's doing amazing.
So yeah, shout out to Linda and Jeannette for sure,
like they always looked down. I mean, the Mexican stage
is courtesy of them, you know, because I don't know
anything about Bond does.

Speaker 3 (50:35):
It was like, you know, I was like, all right,
that's what man. So like the listeners again yesterday Yestera Latina, Sunday,
September First Veterans Park. Ye, get your tickets. We'll listed
all the places that Jesse just mentioned, and then also
check out our website. We'll give you a link to
wherever he's selling the links, and then also get We'll

(50:58):
walk you through steps on how you can win tickets.
We got several tickets that you can win courtesy of
Jesse and the fest, and two v IP tickets, so
we won't have you go through too many loops. Some
people get all lazy. We just have you like something like,
we just want you to like a couple of things,
do three steps. Some people be like, I ain't doing
all that. It's like only four steps.

Speaker 1 (51:17):
Man, come on, you're already liking stuff, but don't be lazy,
like yeah, but yeah, like follow them, follow the festival
Fiesta Latina.

Speaker 3 (51:25):
I believe you guys got like a little book, Facebook
and Instagram yep.

Speaker 1 (51:29):
Also yeah, man, and if there's any any way that
they can contact you if you want to give your
your you know how they can contact you forcado if
there's somebody wants to do an event there.

Speaker 4 (51:38):
Oh yeah, and we have we have it on our website.
So we have all the catering and all the events
and stuff.

Speaker 3 (51:43):
On our website.

Speaker 2 (51:44):
Just I'm going to go down my list and start
saying like like like invite them all.

Speaker 3 (51:49):
To like like I appreciate that.

Speaker 4 (51:51):
Yeah, that's that's I haven't I really haven't done a
lot of I have a guy that does a promoter,
guy that's spending argument on flyers and stuff. But I
haven't really done a lot of promo yet where I
actually Calienta now like there, but you know, some promo
here and there on Facebook. But this this weekend after
Mexican Fist, I'm definitely some Monday morning, I'm gonna be
going hard.

Speaker 3 (52:09):
So you'll see us everyway. No, I love how you
you know, the whole theme and everything. You guys, you
come on and I keep sharing.

Speaker 2 (52:16):
Every time I share, I think in my page is
only right now.

Speaker 1 (52:21):
That's also we'll share it, you know, keep even on
our our personal page, even on my business page and stuff.

Speaker 3 (52:28):
I'll share it too. We'll support it. We'll be there.

Speaker 1 (52:31):
Yeah, I'm gonna be there hopefully doing some interviews for
some of the headliners thanks to just Yeah. So that
would be kind of cool to stay tuned for that,
and if you have any last words coming, I actually.

Speaker 2 (52:43):
Am looking forward to it. I'm actually keeping myself very
healthy right now because that's the one I don't want
to miss.

Speaker 1 (52:52):
You booked one of my favorite Puerto riconstructs. But yeah
is over here from Soco over.

Speaker 4 (52:56):
Where they're actually there's so there's good that I'm actually
gonna have. I'm gonna have food backstage, free food and
drinks for the stars and for media and for everybody
who has backstats passes. And I'm just so busy I
don't have time to do some more food, you know,
I'm gonna be with the drinks and entrances and everywhere.

Speaker 3 (53:12):
So I hit her up. I said, look, man, can
you girls do this for me? Like put some food
there like furst And they're.

Speaker 1 (53:18):
Amazing, man, like that all they did. They could really
good food. They're dangerously good. Like they hit me up
like I'm so close again to and be.

Speaker 3 (53:23):
Like the sandwich man. Yeah, they're really good.

Speaker 2 (53:27):
They're awesome. That's great.

Speaker 1 (53:29):
Yeah, no, thank you man, Thanks brother. I know you're
busy doing this whole thing man and taking the time
out to sit on the pod. So yeah, we'll put
it up and yeah, for sure think you will support it.
And I look forward to everything that's happening. I'm coming
out of suth End the festival, sure.

Speaker 2 (53:44):
For sure, and forget September first, from eleven to ten,
ten pm, family oriented. Get your tickets now ten dollars
prior twenty dollars at the store and you can't miss it.
We have a good, good lineup that it's going to
be hitting this festival.

Speaker 1 (54:05):
So come, come, tom you have to follow some man,
some Frankie, get your Yeah, your dance game up, get
your dance game up.

Speaker 3 (54:15):
Yeah, some grass.

Speaker 2 (54:16):
So you know, I'm I'm practicing. I'm not practicing, but
I'm kind of getting back into groups.

Speaker 3 (54:23):
I might have to hit the Danny real quick. He'll
be there, He'll be a little session impact real quick.
He'll be there, actually all three of the biggest.

Speaker 4 (54:31):
Dance companies and walking to his dance studio, which is
our national Danny. Obviously she doesn't. Also, there's a girl
by the name of Michelle Tomorrow. She opened up her own,
she opened up herding.

Speaker 2 (54:40):
Oh nice dance.

Speaker 4 (54:42):
So I got those three coming and you know, hopefully
I can get I'm not working another one, but yeah,
we wanted to ask coming out there.

Speaker 2 (54:48):
That's true Marina Craft. Yeah, she's for Gloricon MaxEnt. They
do a great job.

Speaker 4 (54:57):
Be perfect because we got the sausage a lot. Yeah,
but yeah, we definitely got to put some other.

Speaker 2 (55:01):
Ones so be bends well.

Speaker 3 (55:06):
Well.

Speaker 4 (55:06):
Every year, if you look at my lineup from that
from Brennecastar to the last year Coming Festival and then
this year.

Speaker 3 (55:11):
I always I have to rotate.

Speaker 4 (55:13):
You know, I don't want see I don't I'm not
saying I'll see Junior Rare three times a year, but
you know, we had Junior Rivera at the Portergan Festival,
and then last year I brought any Carota local sauce,
and then this year I was gonna go back to
Junior Vera, but then uh Wichie came out nowhere and said, hey,
I got my own band. I was like, come mom, man,
you guys are killing all these bands and walking and

(55:34):
now I got to put Junior on aside a little bit.
But I'm gonna bring Junior back next year. So I
like to just every year make them different, you know,
because it's it's only right. And like I, like I said,
if I can find another Medenia band and I'll replace
Exposure next year, whatever local I can find. But obviously
I got j T Tours this year. Next year, if
there's somebody else out there, I'll find him, even Chicago,
Green Bay, wherever I'll find, we'll put them on stage,

(55:55):
you know that, you know, big platform for them to display.

Speaker 1 (55:59):
No, that's awesome, and I I appreciate you giving the
opportunity for local X too, because that's like being to
I mean I look at that like working you know,
back in the day with music stuff. You know, like
you always want to encourage some local music so ill
that you you always support that, you know.

Speaker 4 (56:14):
That I had.

Speaker 2 (56:15):
Remember when Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, I was able
to to bring to the gala, to our gala, Edipan
made you remember who Eddie is, right, So when he
came to Parawatami, which was our gala, I went down

(56:37):
to get him and it was really funny because I
had to escort him everywhere the rest of the night completely,
So I had to tell my Boss. I'm sorry, Boss,
I can't be with you because I have to be
with Edip. I made and he took me everywhere he
wanted to introduce and all that. I still have a
contact with him once in a great moon. He would

(56:57):
send me a message just to see how I'm doing
doing and I would say, hi, how are you? And
I also have a contact for Grand Combo.

Speaker 3 (57:06):
I actually just got off the phone with Grand Combo's manager.

Speaker 4 (57:09):
Yeah, but next year there's I think they got booked
and I they didn't say where.

Speaker 3 (57:14):
I'm guessing it somewhere.

Speaker 2 (57:16):
But I don't think my goal is to My goal
was to bring oh my goodness, what in my head when? Yeah,
I love event only because not only does he sing Spanish,
he also does English and he is amazing. He's one

(57:36):
of my When I was real sick, I listened to
a lot of his music and I listened to a
lot of you know, different artists, because that's when I really.

Speaker 3 (57:44):
Had about what do you think about? Tony Vega is good?

Speaker 2 (57:48):
I saw him. I had the privilege to be part
of the True Miller one of the events we brought in,
and we brought him in. It was pretty good.

Speaker 3 (57:57):
He reached out.

Speaker 2 (58:01):
He's older, but I think he does a great job.
If you want to bring the older group to come.

Speaker 4 (58:07):
In, yeah, yeah, I mean, like I said, the first
of that thing, I want for everybody, So from from
newborn all the way to eighty years old, it doesn't
matter how old you are. I want to make sure
yeah everyone has you know, like I said, I brought
fagetting at all. He'll bring the older crowd. Ranas can
bring the younger crowd. You know over here all them
bonds are gonna be an older crowd, but then kind
to bring the younger crowd.

Speaker 3 (58:27):
So I kind of want to mix together, you know.

Speaker 2 (58:28):
So that's great. You're doing a great job.

Speaker 1 (58:31):
It looks like a great lineup. It's going to be
a fun event. Like I said, we'll be there, we'll
support it. Thank you again for coming on to the show.
One last question, Man, if there's anyone that's looking to
a young dude that's wanting to do follow your footsteps
to try to you know, start events and start a restaurants.
There is any type of advice that you would give
someone that's trying to do what you're doing, just.

Speaker 3 (58:53):
Let me know. I say, I mean, I'm not gonna
lie to you.

Speaker 4 (58:57):
I mean, like like I said, I I let you
said Victor, No, look, I I know I want teach me,
you know, so say the same way I reached out
to somebody, somebody reaches out to me. You know, I'll
take care of my wings and the later on. If
you want to do your own festival, you know, God
bless you. And like I said, that's that's that's how
I am. You know, Like I said, I was able

(59:17):
to learn from two of the best. So I learned,
and like I said, I'm doing my own. So you know,
if somebody ever wants to do their own festival, one
day said, man, my dream is my next two three years.

Speaker 3 (59:26):
I want to do something big. Bring it. You don't
have to tell me what it is. Just you know,
I'll put my wings out. I'll have you.

Speaker 2 (59:34):
So you can become a mentor.

Speaker 3 (59:35):
Yeah, be a mentor, and I mentor you. And you know,
I said Victor, I'm sure it's another one.

Speaker 4 (59:39):
Victor takes some people on their wings because why not
guys get notre now, So yeah, he does mind have
an assistant helping him out.

Speaker 3 (59:45):
So yeah, and I and I'm sure Rick used to
it as well.

Speaker 4 (59:49):
So I'm sure if you hit contact him said, look, man,
I'll do it for free, as you know, you know,
I just want to do my festival day.

Speaker 3 (59:54):
Can you can you help me? I'm pretty sure.

Speaker 4 (59:55):
I'm pretty sure, he said, yeah, So I can't speak
for victor Or, but I know for sure I would.

Speaker 3 (01:00:00):
So you can contact me.

Speaker 2 (01:00:02):
But if you, let's just say you if somebody want
to be in your footsteps as an experience, I know
they can reach out to you. But as a person
that went through all of these details to be able
to build your restaurant, to be able to do everything
that you're doing, what would it take for someone to

(01:00:23):
follow those steps? And how hard? Because they know it's
very hard.

Speaker 3 (01:00:26):
It's really tough.

Speaker 4 (01:00:27):
Opening a restaurants is really really tough. Maintaining restaurants even harder.
I think a lot of people just so I sell plates,
I I can do it. It's not that easy though,
a lot of people think it's that easy, but it's not. Yeah,
it's it's difficult, you know, and I would. I mean,
if you're starting to sell plates, that's good, that's a
good start. Maybe having getting a truck or something, getting
a food truck would maybe be second in line. And

(01:00:49):
then once you get your clientele built up where they
just want to actually want you to have a restaurant,
then maybe go into the restaurant business. And so may
I think, like you said, the girls over here Sokolo,
their girls already pretty soon, So I wouldn't be surprised
in the year or two if they come up with
their own restaurants start killing you with the Puerto Rican food.

Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
Yeah, no, I love it.

Speaker 1 (01:01:06):
I want to try to get them on my podcast
to like collaborate with them more, because, like you know,
just want to collaborate with more businesses, like like a
Hispanic Latino businesses.

Speaker 3 (01:01:15):
You know, Yeah, they be out there, They're going to
be out there.

Speaker 2 (01:01:18):
So basically, work hard, don't give up. It's not going
to be easy. Ask for help. Never be afraid of
the asking for help. The only thing that would happen
is that if you ask for help and somebody says no,
well then there's somebody else. But unless you really want
to do this, if you really do, don't ever hesitate

(01:01:40):
to ask for help.

Speaker 3 (01:01:41):
No, you're our going to get Yeah, people say no.

Speaker 4 (01:01:43):
You know it's funny, brother, I was thinking the other day,
I was like man, you know, baby, like I had
a lot, I had a lot of nose. Like I
had a lot of nose this year, people saying no,
like P and C turned me away, Cermac turned me away.

Speaker 3 (01:01:57):
Uh, I just so many other ones.

Speaker 4 (01:01:58):
I'm like, wow, nobody really want to support support me
or you know, after everything I've done for them. You know,
if somebody dies, I'm the first one donating money, gift
cards to this and that. But when I finally need something,
everybody just disappears.

Speaker 3 (01:02:11):
You know, wow, this is out. It's not even do me,
and it's sad. But I didn't give up. I could
easily give up and say, you.

Speaker 4 (01:02:17):
Know what, I'm not I'm not doing it, screw this scourging, scourging.
But I kept going and and I took the people
that I did come with me. My dad didn't leave me.
Air Force, Wisconsin air Force, and they stood by me.
You know, you guys stuck by me. So I it's like, Okay,
I'm gonna take whoever helps me this year, and when
I grow, they're gonna.

Speaker 3 (01:02:36):
Come with me. Eventually those nose will turn to Yeah,
you know, eventually they're gonna be hitting me up.

Speaker 4 (01:02:40):
Modello said one on me. You know what I'm saying,
so Simmer said on it. So it was just no, no, no, no, no,
I'm like, man, what the hell is going on?

Speaker 3 (01:02:47):
All right? But but like you said, I kept I can't.
I just believe in God.

Speaker 4 (01:02:51):
And I said, man, I'm gonna make it happen. If
they don't want to help me, that's fine, you know.
But like you said, eventually, I just want to when
I see me two three years from now, bringing India
and bringing not all these figure can I get in?

Speaker 3 (01:03:04):
I remember Jesse.

Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
Oh, I'm so sorry twice. What is I'm so sorry.
We're full now, So thank you again. You've done a
great job. I'm looking forward to the event.

Speaker 3 (01:03:22):
Okay, and.

Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
I did have a great dinner the other day. Yesterday
somebody called me and I said, I'm a little busy
and I was stuff in my mouth. No, I'm just kidding.

Speaker 1 (01:03:40):
Definitely visits for lunch and enter after you know, a night.
Definitely visit the festival. Get your tickets. We'll get them
all listed. Again, Jesse, appreciate your brother for coming. I
appreciate the support on the podcast, your time. I appreciate collaborating.
We'll definitely do some more collaborations for sure, and I'll
look forward and then we'll we'll get this out and

(01:04:01):
push it.

Speaker 3 (01:04:02):
So thank you, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:04:09):
M mmmmmmm

Speaker 4 (01:04:15):
Mm hmm
