Welcome in. This is the GoGo Travel Show podcast. I'm your host
Johnny heart Well. We are podcastinglive from the Pittsburgh Travel Showcase and we're
talking to Scott Peters. Hello,Scott, how are you? How are
you nice to be here in Pittsburgh? All right, TELC we're talking about
river cruises. We're talking about everythingbecause TALC does land tours, small ship
by teneries as well as river cruises, and we go to every continent on
(00:26):
the planet. All right, let'sstart with the podcast. Uh, the
the website where so tell us aboutthe website. When you go to your
website. I have any questions abouttel can go to TELC dot com and
UK dot com. Okay, solet's talk about river cruises. Let's start
with that exotic river cruises. Europeanriver cruises only. Oh okay, in
(00:47):
places like the Doro, the Rhone, the Rhine, the Sown, the
sen You know. I've had someexperience on you know, Caribbean cruises,
but I've never been to Europe. But I have friends who've gone there and
they have just they have absolutely lu'reoff the charts. I mean, think
of it. It's like having afloating luxury hotel that you're beck and call.
So you've got a hotel you cansleep in, you've got restaurants,
(01:08):
you've got bars, and then youpull into these beautiful towns and sometimes you
can actually walk right off the shipinto the destination. And how large are
these these ships? These but wehave three different sizes of vessels. So
on the Danube, for example,we might have one hundred and thirty guests,
On the Rhone we might have onehundred and ten, and on the
Door we have eighty four. Okay, so all of those are fairly small
(01:30):
when that's part of the you knowthe Caribbean cruises exactly where there's thousands.
Yeah, this is you want itto be intimate, you want it to
be congenial, you want it tobe comfortable. Okay, what are some
of the hot locations? Probably arethe biggest tour that we have, the
best selling tour in the entire company, believe it or not, as the
Blue Danube. All right, Well, I think it's because it's just it's
(01:53):
a classic itinerary. People when theyhear the Blue Danube, they think of
the Blue Danube, they think ofthe composition, right, and they imagine
their minds what it must be liketo cruise down the river and then stop
and go to these incredible palaces andgo to concerts and eat fabulous food and
learn about the history. It can'tbe beat. And some of these are
ancient cities, you know, cities, fantastic cities with great history and great
(02:15):
shopping, great culture and great shoppingand great food. All I was gonna
talk great cheese, all right. So we started with river cruises. So
what else do you provide? Whatother destination? I think the best way
to kind of get an access pointfor TUC is to think about how long
the company has been in business, which is ninety nine years, all right,
(02:36):
So you're brand new to this.Yeah, we've never done this before.
So we've been around since nineteen twentyfive. And it Arthur Talks Senior
took basically six people on an elevenhundred mile journey through New England for thirty
nine dollars all inclusive. Okay,So imagine those humble beginnings. Now we
go to every continent on the planet. Where are you from myself? Yeah,
(02:57):
I'm originally from California, but nowI live in Florida side Tampa,
Okay, And so when what aboutthe do you have locations and you know,
destinations here in the States. Ohwell, imagine the company started in
the States. I was one.So I mean our bread and Butter is
our National park tours, the toursthat we do in the US. That's
the bedrock of the company. Andthen we've expanded from there. All right.
(03:20):
When it comes to the bedrock oftours here in the US, you
mentioned the dam think about trips likegoing to the Grand Canyon, or going
to Yosembite, or doing trips thatare themed around the Civil War, American
history and American culture, trips toJackson Hole for example. Okay, oh
Jackson Hole. Okay, Well, see, I'm kind of a Civil War
buff here you go. All right, So if if I go to you
(03:43):
and say, hey, you knowwhat I'd like to see some locations.
Yeah, I've been to Gettysburg ina few places you go, Yah,
Richmond and things like that, andso what kind of itinerary can I expect?
Well, I'll tell you something. We have a partnership with ken Burns.
Okay, so ken Burns is apartner of talks. Really, so
ken Burns is won fourteen Emmys, has been nominated for two Oscars, and
(04:04):
he actually helps us build and designtours, but he also creates custom made
vignettes that are specific to these itineraries. So like it we do Cowboy Country
in Wyoming, you're gonna learn aboutthe Buffalo, You're gonna learn about the
Native Americans, you're gonna learn aboutthe history of the Cowboys. If you
do a tour that involves Gettysburg, you're gonna have custom made films that ken
(04:28):
Burns has put together to enhance thatitinerary. Ken Burns like automated tour of
it. He helps to arrange thelogistics of the tour to really punch up
the history. I just got goosebumps. It's not it's a fantastic it's crazy.
Yeah. Well that's these are thethings that are unique about tuc all
right. So if somebody wants moreinformation, what is the website tau ck
(04:50):
dot com. That's talc dot com. Yes, thank you so much,
Thank you much, Johnny. Reallygreat day.
