Speaker 2 (01:55):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
From August seventeenth, nineteen fifty two, here is the case
some of the Gorgeous Greek.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Hellone, Yes, this is the Falcon speaking, Oh Twilight, I'm
glad you called. I have a rain checking, I mean,
intelligence is flying me to Athens, Greece. Yeah, seems some
boy over there is proud of his marksmanship, and they
figure I'll give him something to shoot at. Once again,
(02:30):
the National Broadcasting Company brings you the transcribed Adventures of
the Falcon, starring Less Damon. The Adventures of the Falcon
dedicated to private investigators everywhere, those hard hitting detectives who
like Mike Wearing, risk their lives to aid law enforcement agencies.
So join him now when the Falcon salves the case
(02:52):
of the Gorgeous Greek. The boy who first gave out
with the line appearances can be deceiving. Have something there
as a case in point, I'd like you to meet
Theodoros Gunario. Sir Gnario was a chubby little character who
just walked into the Cafe Olympia in Athens. To look
(03:14):
at him as he makes his way to wark table
in the corner. You'd think here was a man who
wouldn't hurt a fly, and you'd be right, which quts
the local flies away ahead of his fellow men.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Ah, Nicholas, my good friend, is a great pleasure for
it to see you.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Unfortunately I can't say the same. You know this isn't wise, Gnario.
Suppose the police is together, so who else knows?
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Nicholas Venezuelus's number one man in Communist Party in or Greeze.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
A position you obviously feel much better qualified to hold.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
You are wrong, Nicholas, I think you are best meant
for a job. I won't tell Comrade Malotov if it
can help the party, Nicholas Venezuelus would quote off his.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Hand or put here never mind, Ganario, did you see
Iris Richards?
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Yes, we have a very nice thought. She knows why
she was about to happen, of course, for to become
good friends with General Yanni. Well Bulgarian comrade would like
to know why they won't advise that Greece would defend
the island of Gamma from their attack. They find out different.
The situation seems to afford you some amusement.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
After all, I am Greek, so and I who is
different for you? Nicholas. Your whole family is living in
England for a long time. I'm still a Greek, but
I'm a communist. First, Why didn't I.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Was informers of general the Yannie's plan. How did she
know when she has not seen him? Why not? He
was interested in us?
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Yes, but she's not interested in him. What You must
not be too hard than girl, Nicholas. But she is
in love. That isn't funny, Gnario, No, it's very sad.
But love is feeling very difficult to control. She used
to give up this man at once.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
I say this to her, but she finds it very high. Well,
if Comrade Richards hasn't enough self discipline to give him up,
we'll have to do it for her. Get rid of him,
Get rid of him. You seem to take a strange
delight in misunderstanding, Ignario.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
You don't understand, Nicholas. To get rid of this young
man's a very difficult problem. This is not boy. We
can drop in Mediterranean. Nobody will ask questions. I don't
care who he is. I wanted it done.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Then maybe you do it yourself. You have best chance.
What are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (05:27):
This young fellow Irish fall in love with is your
brother George?
Speaker 5 (05:32):
What?
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Oh, she's really crazy for him, Nicholas, you're lying. This
is easy enough to find out. Why don't you ask? Iris?
Speaker 2 (05:40):
I will? Oh, I'm so happy.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
Imagine five years I know you, and this is first
idea you take, Gunario. Maybe someday I'll give you some more.
(06:06):
That's the second, Iris, Richard, that's right. I wonder if
you could spare me a few minutes. I'm Nicholas Venezelos. Oh,
obviously you're familiar with the name.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
Obviously, come in.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Thank you. Hmmm, very lovely sweet.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
I like it all right, mister Vanazelas. Let's get on
with it.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Pardon you came here.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
For a reason.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Naturally, I understand you're in love with my brother George.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
Where do you understand that?
Speaker 2 (06:46):
From the usual reliable Sie? Have I been misinformed? No?
You care a great deal for.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
Him, more than anything else in the.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
World, you know, oddly enough, I believe you.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
I'm bewhelmed.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
I'd like to tell you a little about our family.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
Don't bother. George has already briefed me. Why don't you
leave him alone?
Speaker 2 (07:09):
You must understand Ethers, my brother is very young.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
He's twenty nine.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
He's still a child in many ways.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Maybe that's because you never gave him a chance to
grow up.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
But perhaps I should explain I'm very fond of George
and he hates you. That's not true.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
You've better open your eyes, mister Venezuela's. He can't stand you.
You've interfered with everything in his life.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
Someone had to. This situation proves it.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Meaning I'm not good enough for him.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
If you prefer to believe that, that's your privilege. But
I order you to give him up?
Speaker 4 (07:45):
You order me? Yes, Oh you've got the wrong girl.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
On the contrary, I've got the right one. Does George
know you're a common form agent? What that you're in
Greece and party business? Yep? But you're crazy. You can't
here Theodora's scenario. Why are you?
Speaker 4 (08:05):
You're a comrade yourself?
Speaker 2 (08:07):
My party card bears the name of Paul. Yes, oh,
but I had no idea. Naturally, scenario is the only
one in Greece your nose. The party is outlawed here.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
Please, comrade, may I say something? But I'd like to explain.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
You couldn't possibly you were sent here on an important mission.
To date, you have betrayed that trust. I feel my
brother is responsible. You are never to see him again.
Is that understood? I ask you something, elis, What can
(08:46):
I tell him that you were just using him to
pass the time of day?
Speaker 4 (08:51):
No?
Speaker 2 (08:52):
No, I can't do it, and I say you will.
Good day, Comrade. I know I can depend on you
to fulfill your obligation. I guess we better start looking
(09:19):
for a parking place. Iren.
Speaker 6 (09:21):
Well, I'd love to drive you right into the metropolis,
but unfortunately the road hasn't been paid since five hundred BC.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Eh shall we get hurt?
Speaker 4 (09:31):
Wait a minute, George, there's something I want to tell.
Speaker 5 (09:34):
You now, Darling.
Speaker 6 (09:35):
I'm sure it's not that serious.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Yes it is.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
I'm not seeing you anymore. I'm not plowning George?
Speaker 2 (09:43):
All right? Did I give up? What's the joke?
Speaker 4 (09:46):
It's no joke.
Speaker 6 (09:47):
But you couldn't possibly mean that, couldn't that?
Speaker 7 (09:51):
No, you're in love with me?
Speaker 4 (09:53):
Well of all the conceited egotistical mails. What have you
got that makes you think you're so special? I never no,
but your attitude shows it. Sure you may be hot
stuff here in Greece, but I come from a big country, Honey.
Guys like you were a dime a dozen on every
street corner.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
You don't mean that.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
Irons you want to bet. But you told me I
never had it so good. You didn't believe me, did you?
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Yes, I did, your poor sap.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
I guess your brother was right. My brother, Well, well
didn't you tell me that he said you needed a nursemaid?
As Nicholas been.
Speaker 7 (10:27):
Up to see you.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
No, you're lying, all right?
Speaker 4 (10:31):
So I am. Yeah, Yeah, he was up to see me.
Speaker 6 (10:35):
What did he say?
Speaker 4 (10:36):
Well, it wasn't what he said, sweet, it was what
he did. He gave me a check for twenty thousand drachmas.
You didn't take it, now, baby, be reasonable. A girl's
got to look.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Out for self.
Speaker 6 (10:47):
You can't mean that, Iris.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Heaven's sake, What does it take to convince you? Maybe
I should have made a tape recording of the dialogue.
Get this and get it straight. Mister Venizelis, you never
meant a thing in my young life. You couldn't possible
and stop irising me. I know my name. I've had
it long enough. Now will you take me back to
the hotel?
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Oh, good evening, mister George, Good evening, Paul.
Speaker 6 (11:22):
Is my brother Helm? No, sir, he went out right
after dinner. Have you any idea where I can find him?
Speaker 2 (11:28):
I'm afraid not?
Speaker 4 (11:29):
Or did he say anything about?
Speaker 3 (11:30):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (11:31):
No?
Speaker 5 (11:32):
No?
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Hello?
Speaker 5 (11:34):
Hello? Is this Venezuela's Yes?
Speaker 3 (11:35):
This is How are you afraid?
Speaker 6 (11:37):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (11:40):
Well you have I understand everything is work out?
Speaker 3 (11:44):
Fine?
Speaker 2 (11:45):
What did you say?
Speaker 5 (11:46):
What's the matter? You can't talk now?
Speaker 6 (11:48):
No, no, just a moment, Paul, Yes, mister George, would
you mind leaving me alone?
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Thank you? I'm sorry, Gunario. What will you say?
Speaker 5 (12:03):
It's just got to congratulate you.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
I see now Moscow is right, Moscow when they make
you head of party, increase.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Instead the me head of the party.
Speaker 5 (12:12):
What's matter, Nicholas? You don't seem for to understand me.
Speaker 6 (12:15):
It's it's just that I've been asleep and I'm still
rather gruggy.
Speaker 5 (12:19):
Oh, I'm sorry. It's better I don't call it.
Speaker 6 (12:21):
Oh, I'd never forgive myself if I'd missed this. Now,
if you'll excuse me Gonalio.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
I'll hang up.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
I've got one or two calls of my own.
Speaker 6 (12:31):
I'd like to make.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Alone.
Speaker 7 (12:43):
Have I the pleasure of speaking with mister Michael Wedding.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
I bet your idea of pleasure. Who is this?
Speaker 7 (12:50):
I'm afraid my name won't mean much to you.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
It's George Venezuelo's George Venezuelas.
Speaker 7 (12:55):
Yes, your embassy suggested I get.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
In touch with you, and what can I do for you?
Speaker 6 (13:00):
I believe the shoe is on the other foot. I'd
like to do something for you. You're aware that the
Communist Party is outlawed in Greece.
Speaker 7 (13:08):
Yes, well, suppose I told you that the number one
man is right here in Athens. What would you say
to that?
Speaker 2 (13:16):
Well, the first thing I'd say is what's his name?
Speaker 5 (13:18):
I take it?
Speaker 7 (13:18):
Then you're interested.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Interested as hardly the word.
Speaker 6 (13:22):
Well, I live at fourteen Tricoupess Tricoups.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
That's the street right near the monument to Byron, isn't it?
Speaker 7 (13:29):
That's the one. Can I expect you at ten?
Speaker 2 (13:32):
You wouldn't want to make it earlier.
Speaker 7 (13:33):
Try to be patient, mister Wedding. After all, you chaps
have been looking for this fellow for years, a few
hours more or les shouldn't matter.
Speaker 6 (13:41):
I see you at ten, mister wedding. That's right, in
just a moment, come in. I'm George Venezuela's I figured
(14:02):
as much, and may I.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Take your coat?
Speaker 8 (14:04):
Don't father, I don't think I'll be staying long cigarette.
I'll stick to my own brand if I don't mind.
Speaker 6 (14:13):
Thanks, Funny, you look nothing like I had imagined, does anybody?
Speaker 5 (14:18):
Well?
Speaker 6 (14:18):
I only meant when I was in the state some
years back, I heard a great deal about the Falcon.
I rather fancied he'd be.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
Tall and lean.
Speaker 8 (14:26):
Maybe I'm not the Falcon then what that's right? I'm
not Mike Wearing. Then who are you? Eddie Welch, Eddie
Welch did wearing them? May perish forbid? I'm here strictly
on my own. Let this be a lesson to you, Georgie.
(14:46):
Next time you make a phone call, make sure it
don't go through a hotel switchboard. It's like a radio show.
You never can tell who's listening.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
On the highway's speed is the number one killer. It
takes more than half of the lives lost in traffic
accidents in many states last year. Speeding drivers caused fifteen
thousand deaths in the United States that year. More than
five hundred thousand persons were injured in automobile accidents blamed
on excessive speed. That's the bloody price tag on too
much speed, the cost that you may pay sooner or
(15:26):
later for a few minutes saved by speeding. Slow down
for safety's sake, and remember drive as though your life
depends on it. It does.
Speaker 5 (15:41):
Allow.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
Back to the adventures of the Falcon, well, that's the
way it goes. Sometimes a priority. This wasn't Georgie's day.
It may have started badly enough when Iris gave him
the air, but Eddie Welsh Whure ended it for him
with a bang. I knew none of this when I
(16:01):
got out of the cab in front of fourteen try Coopers.
I never even noticed the official looking car park of
the curb. I guess I was asleep. But the boy
who answered the door certainly opened my eyes. Yes, please,
I'm looking for George Venezuelas on your name like wearing,
be so good as to enter. Maybe I better not pardon.
(16:22):
And I learned a long time ago. When I'm greeted
by a man in a blue coat and brass buttons better.
I should have stood in bed. Permit me to introduce myself.
I am Emmanuel kumanduris lieutenant in his Majesty's Police. I
was afraid of that. Now, where do we go? Right?
Speaker 5 (16:38):
Here?
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Is that George Venezuelas. You did not know him only
as a voice on the phone. May I allow me?
Or stratos take three men on interview enables?
Speaker 5 (16:53):
Yes, lieutenant, all right? You you you about.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
To be well seen too much? Apparently he knew what
he was talking about. Pardon he called me a couple
of hours ago at my hotel. The American embassy had
referred him to me. Why he claimed he knew the
identity of the number one boy in a communist underground
here more, that was ridiculous. Someone was real anxious to
shut him up. Do you have any family? That's the problem?
(17:21):
What's his name? Nicholas Venezelo? I think I could talk
to him. I do not imagine if it would do
any good. So you never know, and I should try.
I'll be seeing you, lieutenants. I wish there was some
way I could help his wedding, but I'm afraid there
isn't much I can tell you. I don't never know,
(17:42):
mister Venezelis, was your brother a communist?
Speaker 4 (17:45):
What?
Speaker 2 (17:46):
Well? He claimed he knew the identity of the head
man and the party here, and it must have been
George's idea of a joke. Believe me, he took absolutely
no interest in politics. And then what do you think
was the motive for his murder? Robbery? According to the police,
there wasn't a thing taken from his apartment, and perhaps
the burglar was frightened off. That's a possibility. But let's
look at another How did you two get along? You know,
(18:09):
I'd be within my rights to say it's none of
your business, but somehow I've got a great deal of
confidence in you, noll. I appreciate that George and I
never got along too well. I suppose it was all
my fault. I insisted on treating him as a child,
and naturally he resented it. Naturally, I never realized how
much until recently. How did you find out through a
(18:33):
mutual acquaintance, Iris Richards? Where did you learn about her?
Your lieutenant? Comme on, Doris, you think she might know
anything about his murder? And of course not. Still, I
think we ought to have a talk. I'd rather you
didn't tell man, you and your brother weren't rivals for
her affections? Don't be ridiculous. And why do you object
(18:54):
to my seeing her? Because there's nothing to be gained
by it. You never can tell. Nevertheless, I forbid you
to say here, you forbid me? Yes, you sound like
you're used to giving orders. I am what happens when
they're not obeyed? That's a very good question, Wedning. And
if you insist on seeing Iris, you'll have the opportunity
(19:15):
of finding the answer for yourself. I rather doubt whether
you enjoy making the discovery. Yes, Alomus Richards, Who are
you a fellow American?
Speaker 6 (19:35):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (19:36):
And you think this is old home Week?
Speaker 2 (19:38):
Well, I had hopes.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
Sorry, I'm busy.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
A name is Wearing, Mike Wearing.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
I'm still busy.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
I'm a friend of George Venezuela's.
Speaker 4 (19:46):
Oh well, if if George sent you over to plead
his case, he's wasting his time. Well isn't that quiet?
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Yeah? Sure, yes, only I come in.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
Who won't do you any good?
Speaker 2 (19:59):
I won't any harm either. How is George not so hot?
Speaker 4 (20:07):
You'll get over it?
Speaker 2 (20:08):
I kind of doubt that Iris. You never get over
his kind of trouble. He's a fool.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
He'll find a million other girls.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
Not George, Sure he will. He's just a kid. He
sound like his brother Nicholas.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
Now, well that's what he is.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Something tells me you were in love with the boy
to make me laugh? And why did you see so
much of him?
Speaker 4 (20:28):
Oh, girl's got to have something to do in a
place like this. Then he meant nothing to you, not
a single solitary thing.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Ill he won't be interested in the fact that he
was murdered.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
What what did you say?
Speaker 2 (20:41):
Yeah, he was shot to death last night at the
quarter of the ten. You're lying. I'm sorry, Angel.
Speaker 4 (20:46):
Where is he? Where is he? I've got to see him.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
I thought he did mean anything to you.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
He didn't.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
You were crazy about him? No, no, Why did you
give him up?
Speaker 4 (20:54):
Because I couldn't stand it?
Speaker 2 (20:55):
Why did you give him up? Iris? Did Nicholas have
anything to do with it?
Speaker 4 (20:58):
How many times must I tell you he did mean
a thing to me? Not a thing? How you get
out of here and leave me alone.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
At the moment, Nicholas, my good friend, what are you
doing here? Gnario?
Speaker 3 (21:22):
I just hear about your brother is making me for
to be very unhappy.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
I mean, thank you.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
I can I tell you what is in my heart? Nicholas,
I know how you feel about Georgy. What do you
think does such an awful thing?
Speaker 2 (21:39):
I wish I knew. Maybe that fellow Michael Wearing. Find
that who told you about Wearing?
Speaker 3 (21:45):
Oh it's little I don't know. It was up to
sea Iris. You tell him anything, not come rather rich
she feel about party like you do. It's like I
tell you on the phone yesterday.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
You told me on the phone. Sure, when I speak
to you around sevent o'clock, where did you call me here?
I wasn't even home at the time.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
It's impossible the fellow I talked of exactly the same accident.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Go on, grael.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
I, I must have made mistake.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
You certainly did you spoke to George? What did you
tell him?
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Nothing, Nicholas say, I just ask how you fear how
his business?
Speaker 9 (22:28):
You're lying. You must have mentioned something about the party. No, Nicholas, stupid,
wondering fool. You should never do this to go an Areo.
I forgive you because you're upset.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
Get out.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Sure, Nicholas, I know I have been great disappointment to you,
But maybe I can make up for it.
Speaker 5 (22:54):
You see.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
If I don't gonna try?
Speaker 2 (23:11):
Yeah, hello, wearing? Do I know you? Well? If you don't,
it's not my fault. I met a Welch, Eddie Welch. Oh, sure,
would you like to come in try and keep me out?
I assume that gun is loaded? Uh huh, then I
wouldn't dare it does flop anywhere? That sofa is pretty good? Thanks?
Speaker 8 (23:34):
And suppose you sit right here where I can keep
an eye on you.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
Anything to oblige an old friend. So you're Eddie Welch
It registered? Yeah, very definitely. You're a trigger man for
the CP. What are you doing in Athens? I'm crazy
about ruins. I thought you made your own. It's pretty good,
not very Did you take care of George Venezuela's what
do you think? I think? Yes? What bothers me is
(23:59):
who gave you your order? Tell you what I'll do
it in make you a deal. You'll make me a deal. Well,
occasionally you have to bargain with rats. You know good?
What's the matter? Nothing, you're sick? Get back. I just
want to help you get back. You want gome on,
drop it?
Speaker 7 (24:17):
Drop it?
Speaker 2 (24:18):
I'll break your arm. I mean it Eddie. All right, now?
Who sent you around here? Get a doctor? Who sent
you around?
Speaker 8 (24:24):
Eddie?
Speaker 4 (24:24):
Please?
Speaker 2 (24:24):
Please get me your doc. I'm on fire. Sure you've
been poisoned? Dirty all who did it?
Speaker 5 (24:29):
Eddie?
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Come on? You want to get even, don't you?
Speaker 4 (24:31):
No good?
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Dirty Eddie? Eddie? Hello operator, it's a dead body in
my room. I'd like it removed. Maybe room service can
help me out. Most of us are looking forward to
(24:55):
the Labor Day weekend and planning to spend it out
of tunnel. That's fine for most of us, but we
should only keep in mind that these long weekend holidays
are often tragic times for some of us who start
out gaily to enjoy them. More than thirteen hundred American
families will lose one or more of their loved ones
in accidents on the highways at all times, and particularly
on long holiday weekends. Drivers, though your life depends on it,
(25:18):
it does allow back to the adventures of the Falcon Well,
I guess it only goes to prove you can't leave
the ads. Hey, the Hotel Olympia boasted of the deluxe service.
Yet when Eddie Welsh killed over in my room and
(25:39):
I buzzed the operator of a room service. It was
twenty minutes before someone knocked on my door, and when
I opened it, as did Lieutenant Emmanuel Commandors. Naturally, I
was disappointed. Ah, mister wedding, we meet again. Now, don't
blame me, Lieutenant. The gentleman is a friend of yours him.
Haven't forbid that Eddie Welsh? What was he doing here?
(26:00):
Unpleasant idea? He came over to give me a treatment,
a treatment the same kind he gave George Venezuelas you
feel he was responsible for the murder. He practically admitted
it to me. Why should he because he figured he
had nothing to lose. He was going to put me
away too. And what happened and he didn't watch his diet.
He was poisoned. Ridiculous. Just turn them over and take
(26:21):
a sniff. Needn't he help? No, I can't money. Thank
you strycknin That's what it is. I do not understand. Well.
My guess is at the same party who ordered him
to kill George Venezuelus hated loose ends, so Eddie was
sent around take care of me. Then why was he poisoned?
Because Eddie himself was a loose end? I guess his
(26:43):
boss hoped that he would get to me before the
stry name took effect. Lucky for me, his timing was off.
But why was George murdered? Well, I hate to use
the phrase lieutenant, but it fits. It was all a
communist plot. You know who was responsible. I've got a
pretty good idea. But in fairness concerned, I feel his
brother Nicholas should be the first to know.
Speaker 10 (27:03):
I hope he appreciates the honor. Hello, Nicholas, Missus Richards.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
It was comrade Iris the last time we met.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
What are you doing here?
Speaker 4 (27:24):
I wanted to see you? That was most unlast I
thought the situation warranted. It is comrade Gunario.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
Here should he be?
Speaker 4 (27:31):
I took the liberty of telling him you wanted to
see him? Sit down?
Speaker 2 (27:35):
Do you know what you're doing?
Speaker 4 (27:36):
Yeah, it's not a switch. I'm giving the orders now.
It's funny what a little gun can do for you, morrel.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
You regret this, Comrade, I can assure you that the
proper authority is.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
Please don't threaten me with party discipline. I've had all
of that. I can stand for eight years. Every minute
of my time belonged to the party. For eight years.
I did everything they told me without questioning, they were
going to make a better world just between us girls. Comrade,
I haven't seen one soul they ever helped. But it
(28:06):
took your brother's murder to open my eyes. The poor
kid napt Oh, I guess that's Comrade Gunia Shall.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
I'm by all means.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
We couldn't possibly proceed without him.
Speaker 5 (28:17):
Just a moment.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
Hello, Nicholas Dwelling, I think you know, Lieutenant Well, if
it isn't Iris Richards, that's who it is. That wouldn't
be a gun you're holding, wouldn't it. Yeah, I guess
it would. Hat I put it away, Angel, and this
man is a police lieutenant. I must warn you, your young.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
Lady, don't bother Just sit down over there.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Really, miss on all of you. If you're going to
behave like this, Iris, I'm not going to let you
in on my surprise.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 2 (28:44):
I know the motive for George's murder. Well, accidentally George
learned who was head of the local communist set up
in Greece.
Speaker 4 (28:51):
I could have told you that.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
But you wouldn't. Brother Nick, here, isn't it?
Speaker 4 (28:55):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (28:55):
Really, my dear, you're being most absurd.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
No one else could have made me give up George.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
But even grunting all this, you still would like to
know who killed his brother? Yes he did, really, old man.
Speaker 4 (29:06):
Just stay where you are, Nicholas, go on wearing.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
Nicky was completely dedicated to the party. It came first, last,
and all the time. Naturally, when George threatened to end
his use to the common form by exposing him, he
had him killed. That's right. You certainly don't believe this, Lieutenant.
Speaker 4 (29:22):
I don't know about him, but I do.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
And he saidos, well, he's dead.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
Anybody want to buy a second hand cult automatic, I'll
let it go real cheap.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
I'll take it.
Speaker 4 (29:39):
So to the man on my right. All right, fellas,
let's go. I think I took care of everything else.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
Some more wine, Michael, I have a good say No,
you know, I am completely mystified. I don't see why, Lieutenant, Well,
Nicholas and George, who have brothers? So a cana enabel Ah, Yes,
but there was a difference here. Nicholas was very fond
of George.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
He did everything he possibly could for him.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Oh sure, But his first love was the Communist Party
and anything that threatened it was his enemy. So when
it came to a showdown between his brother and the Party.
George didn't have a chance. I see well, I guess
approves one thing. Romancing a woman can sometimes lead to trouble,
but having an affair with the Communist Party is just
asking for murder. Good night, Lieutenant. The Case of the
(30:50):
Silent Butler. The Case of the Silent Butler. That's the
title of next week's adventure of the Falcon, when Mike
Warring learns that a perfect servant around the house can
still be ahead outdoors. The Adventures of the Falcon are
based on the famous character created by Drexel Dray, produced
and transcribed by Bernard el Schubert, written by Eugene Wang,
(31:10):
and directed by Richard Lewis Less Damon was started as
The Falcon with Ann Burr as iris.
Speaker 11 (31:17):
This program came from New York Fred Collin speaking.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
Of Welcome Back. The idea of the Communist Party requiring
(31:40):
colt devotion of its members is a key point that's
often explored in many of the anti Communist stories of
the era, and this sort of thing is something that
many ex Communists will point out when they are talking
about their time with the Party. And of course, the
(32:00):
Murderer's devotion to the party is highlighted in this episode,
although that devotion doesn't explain why he made the really
dumb decision to send out a hit man and poison
him at the same time with something that wasn't particularly
slow acting, and hoped that it would work out where
he would complete the hit before the poison took effect.
(32:24):
Though I will say good on Mike for actually achieving
his goal, though he was robbed of being able to
see his quarry brought to justice. It seems like Eugene Wang,
over the course of the series has moved from denying
the Falcon a chance to get the girl to denying
the Falcon a chance to actually capture a Communist agent.
I've not heard or don't remember hearing Anne Burrow on
(32:48):
radio before, but her voice was very distinctive, so I
had to look her up, and according to what I
can find, she worked on a lot of soaps. Wikipedia
says she was also in mister Keane's Race or Lost Persons,
but I never can never heard or don't recall anyway,
and I think I would with that voice, although that
doesn't mean she didn't appear. There are whole seasons of
(33:13):
that series that are missing, so she could have appeared
in an episode that is just no longer available. All right, well,
now it's time to thank our Patreon supporter of the day,
and I want to go ahead and thank Carissa. Carrissa

(33:56):
the Falcon, but join us back here tomorrow for the
next installment of The Landini Murder Case with Charlie Chan where.
Speaker 12 (34:05):
If you are in possession of Alibi and matter of
the death is doctor Swan, then so is miss Beaton,
who was in your presence. Yes, yes, I never have
a suspicion of mister Beaton. Likewise, mister Rider would be
eliminated from catalog of suspected person mister Ryder he wasn't
(34:25):
with me And asking do you think ar Singh could
have gone down road to deserted house and returned with
the necessary time limit.
Speaker 6 (34:35):
No, no, no, no us seeing it could have not
mister Ward.
Speaker 7 (34:39):
He was in bed.
Speaker 12 (34:40):
Do you think mister Ward would have done.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
So impossibly ridiculous?
Speaker 4 (34:46):
He was in of bed when our singer went to
a room.
Speaker 12 (34:49):
Then there remains mister Hugh Beaton, who was likewise in bed,
that is according to his sister, Miss Beaton.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
And that's I believe it. I believe it.
Speaker 12 (35:00):
Then we come down to Missus O'Hara.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
I can see missus o'farrall plodding through the snow, bent
on killing swam.
Speaker 6 (35:06):
No, no, not to missus O'Hare, but perhaps, oh yes,
that's a season.
Speaker 12 (35:11):
Sorry to disappoint mister Romano, but it was not the
seal's footprints who followed.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
In snow what you been? Or her husband.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
I do not forget that he hates us one where
they hate the like of the poisonous a snake.
