Speaker 1 (00:07):
Are you ready what I said? Oh yeah, Jeff, deal
were the queen of the quack. I got one hundred
and forty one and two throws Tess winning, But bron
I am bad and they know how bad? Why are
the many hours? Look there for the dollar you speak

(00:30):
this stop.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Boat.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Welcome to the Grill Out from the heart of Silliam,
West Virginia. Here's your host, Hollywood Chef Petty.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
And his name is Johnson. His name is Johnsoner. Welcome,
ladies and gentlemen to the Grill Out, Episode seventy six.
I'm your host, Hollywood Jeff, and I'm trying to wake
myself up a little bit. He's old, I know. Thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
This is on Saturday, by the way, not Sunday.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
But yes, we normally we have been recording a lot.
That's Josh Cole Babe, by the way, he is with
us today.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
How does it feel forty?

Speaker 1 (01:17):
I'm not forty. I hit thirty. But we have been
normally recording on Sundays. Yeah, it's just sometimes a better way,
uh way to do that because of just all the
news stories for the for wrestling. But they are getting
ready to move studios, so there's been this big thing
going on around here. You know, Josh, you've been here.

(01:39):
We were in the old studio. We got moved over
here to the other side of the building. Well, guess
what next weekend we will actually be in the brand
new studio doing on up. We are we are moving
on up. Well, definitely we'll have the on air sign,
except the on air sign over there is just kind
of right in your face, so we don't have to
look over like this to see it.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
I never really look over there.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
It's there, Jason does. Yeah. Anyway, live, Yeah, we are live,
we are we have semi live, We're semi live. But yes,
John Cena has I don't know if I would consider
John Cena a full heel.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
He's a human.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
He is. He is a human if you haven't justified human.
That was That's what I was getting ready to get
get into. Is John Cena's promo that he just did
on Monday Night Raw. It did not come across like
one heel. I I empathized with him, Yeah, like I
was like, okay, I get it, Like, man, you really

(02:36):
like he got drug through the ringer for years and
he's just he's like, yeah, I'm just a human. He's
not a heel, He's not a face John Cena.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
A lot of people who were like, oh, he copied
Roman Reigns promo where he's like, I'm not a good guy.
I'm not a bad guy. I'm the guy. What's like? Okay, sure,
the first two parts are basically the same, but the
last part, the intent is completely.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Different, exactly Like, I don't that is not how I
took his his promise.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
I saw the similarity in it, but I didn't.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Take it that. Yeah. I mean, wrestling has been around
for so long, you are going to see similarities in
certain gimmicks, certain stories, certain matches like I think the
what was it was? On Dark Side of the Ring,
which first episode comes out March twenty fifth, So that's here.
In a couple of days, Hell in the Cell called it. Yep,

(03:30):
Mankind versus the Undertaker. They're going, that's the very first
episode they're going to talk about. Yep, Josh called it.
But it's just like in the of some Dark Side
of the Ring episode, Jimmy Cornett's talking. He has a
book that has like everything that happened in professional wrestling,
unsty of its existence, and really it has been rehashed. Yeah,

(03:52):
throughout the.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Years, and it happens basically any kind of medium of entertainment.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Yeah, everybody has their what's the word I'm looking for inspirations? Yeah,
I mean, I mean I were watching an old episode
of Saturday the other day and it had Andy Kaufman
in it, Uh, nature Boy, Buddy Roger, Buddy Rogers, And
as soon as I heard Nature Boy, immediately was taking
I thought was Buddy Rogers. Yeah, so then I was

(04:18):
Pandora's boxes open, and I'm sitting there explaining to her
about you know, Rick Flair's Nature Boy, but also Buddy
Rogers's Nature Boy. But Rick Flair's gimmick has inspired a
lot from Buddy Rogers and this and that and Nanny
Andy Yah, Pandora's box is closed.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Yeah. Well, it's like in music, there's a there's like
a soul saying that nothing really original has been written
in years and years. That's just how you write it
differently from the other person, essentially.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Yeah, I mean, creativity deflements and you can only place
only do so many spots.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Going so many different rhythms.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Yeah, exactly. You know, you can only do so much stuff,
change it a little bit, add your own little flavor
to it. But yeah, I did not take the John
scene a promo as a heel. I didn't take it
as a face either. He yes, he was simply a

(05:08):
human and a.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Lot of people have, Yeah, a lot of people who've
turned he have done like a very similar promo like
turning on the fans kind of thing. But it was
like a reaction to what's opposed to years and years
and years of building to this exactly.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
And in a way, it's sort of I felt like
this promo broke the fourth wall more than previous promos
with this type of formula because of just how and
I don't know if you picked up on this, it
was kind of like there was a place sitting there.
He's going, you're the let's go see a guy that's you,

(05:44):
And he's basically saying that, you know, the let's go
seea people are just as much to blame as the
scena sucks people. And does that sound like Josh Yeah,
see him punk the pipe Bob when he says people
are just as much to blame who meet him at
the airport at four o'clock in the morning and shove
a promo in his face and everything and just rehashed

(06:06):
a little bit. Don't know if that's exactly where that
came from, but that definitely gave the vibe there of
that especially a man. We were talking about that off
the air and I was getting ready to start going
into it. I was like, no, we got to talk
about this on the show man. That little kid, Yeah,
that poor little kid. He imagine this, Josh, all right,

(06:29):
you live in a foreign country, you live in in Europe.
WWE is from America. They finally come to your town
or close to your town, and your favorite John Cena,
who even if WWE showed up, you didn't know if
John Cena was going to be there, but you find
out John Cena is going to be there and he

(06:50):
singles you out. That kid's look like his whole world
was shattered when they cut the camera to him.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Did you see a WDA posted video rate before that?
He's like, I love you John Cena.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Oh no, no, John, you know maybe he is a heel. Yeah,
but yeah, so John Cena, like I said, it comes
out he says he is. He's not a heel, He's
not a face, He's a human. He talked about how

(07:23):
the fans did nothing but take from him just what
can I get? What can I get? What can I get?
That whole part saying that he is in a toxic,
dysfunctional relationship with the let's go see the people, including kids. Yeah,
that's the child that we're talking about. Sorry, kiddo, I
know that you're probably not listening to this because you

(07:43):
don't speak English, but you know, sorry, I mean from America.
Sena even went as far as to say that we
will get no new gear, no new music, because everyone's
time is up and his time is now.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Yeah, like it would have been cool to hear like
Bad Guy or even the Doctor Thug Domin's theme or
you know, changes gear, but it makes sense to not
do it because it's what we would have wanted exactly.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
I'm not gonna lie. When I watched it, I felt
I felt a person person like that was personal to
me because like, man, we were talking about new gear
and stuff on the show. Here comes Sena out like no, no, no, no,
but no, I think that I think that is uh
smart actually to do it that way, have him come

(08:30):
out looking like regular old John Sena. Yeah, but it's
not the same Johns.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
I'm not changing you changed. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Yeah, like it's It's true. Cody did come out to
tell Sena he was looking forward to wrestling the real
John Cena, and I won't say exactly what he said
to him, but it's not this whiny version of him. Yeah.
And you noticed when Cody came out, John didn't really
have a whole lot to say.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
He was getting ready to and Cody cut him off.
I guess they're just waiting to build that more.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Yeah, Yeah, it could could very well be. I know
that I don't have the exact days we're here in
front of me, but the next three or four dates
for John Cena are all on Monday Night Raw until
he gets to WrestleMania. Yeah, and then after WrestleMania, it's
all SmackDown. Yeah, except for I think he's part of

(09:18):
Saturday Night's main event at one point probably, So can't
say yay, can't say nay. Is this a sign that
Sina might get that seventeenth world title?

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Do you think so, Josh, He's gonna do it. It's
gonna get the big one.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
I think I think there's a strong possibility for that.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
I think you get put the title on him, let
Cody take some time off, and then maybe they have
a rematched summer Slam.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
I don't know, maybe or cause Randy Orton's part of SmackDown, right, Yes,
he's part of that brand, the Undisputed World that the
ww title, yeah is SmackDown. Yeah right, Why not just
have a heal John Cena win the title, hold on
to it for the rest of the year. Follow me

(10:06):
on this, hold on to it for the rest of
the year and leading up to like, because he says
after December he's done, He's not coming back. That's what
he says. That's what he says.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Yeah, salmon jackets. So let's see.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Yeah, he comes out with a salmon jacket. You know
that he lied. Yeah, he lied straight to your faces,
including you child.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
In particular, what color shirt was he wearing when he
announced his retirement.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
I don't know. I don't think it was sam and color,
though I would. It would be hilarious if he actually
got like the actual salmon suit from Mark Henry just
got a retailer to fit him. Yeah, that would be
that would be quite hilarious.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
Or even as blue suit.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
That's true, that's very true. But anyway, so follow me
on this. Yeah, John Cena wins gets a seventeenth world title.
Cody had good run, He had good year long run
with the title. John Cena is the champ. Keep John
Cena as the champ to towards the end of the year.
Just keep having him win and win and win and win.
And who's the one person that can take the title

(11:09):
off of Johnson And it's not Cody.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
Orton.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
A baby face Randy Orton has to step up and
take down a heel John Cena to take the title
off of him before Sena is gone out the door
with the title. Very money in the bank twenty eleven esque. Yeah,
at least that's what I'm thinking of my head.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
I mean, it could work also, but uh, who knows
that we might see them face off at Backlash because
that's Insant Louis and that's Orton's home town.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Oh yeah, that's true, that's true.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
They could be a first encounter, of course.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
That could that that very well could be. Went hold on,
I'm gonna look this up. When is Backlash? We were
talking about this off the air actually mid mayish, Yeah,
exactly May tenth. Wow, it's only a few weeks after WrestleMania,
huh okay, and it is it's in Saint Louis, Missouri.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
Learn miss that one. Yeah, I mean Ohio rocking out.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
Oh yeah, it's Clark. Oh yeah, that's right. You're going
to do the festival up in Ohio.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Yeah, I enjoy safe travels and all of that. Yeah,
and you know, of course we'll do predictions. We looked in,
we looked in the next month and Josh and I
also found this out off the air next month. There's
four weeks in four episodes in the month of April
for our show. Three of them are prediction shows. So
my title, I don't know of them will have it,

(12:32):
even though I'm the current champion. We'll see, we will see.
But yeah, there is a possibility that could be the
first time that they meet. Maybe just having cross paths there.
I don't know. And this also determines it's also like
hangs on the fact if Sina wins the seventeenth world title. Yeah,
which I just this is just my opinion on this.

(12:52):
Take it for what it is. I think there is
a strong possibility that could happen.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Yeah, because truth be told, Cody has had a good run,
but I don't think it started off cold and it
has slowly.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Built Yeah, there's been a couple of good feuds within it,
but overall it hasn't been quite to the level I
think people would have liked it.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
It's been exactly like there was uh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
I lost the straight up thought there Kevin Owens. That
was a good one, this one with John Cena. But
before that, I mean there was solo, but.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
That was yeah, that one that was still like remnants
of the blood. It was just a fallout from that. Yeah. Yeah,
he didn't he hasn't really had like it's it. It's
going to be. I think it's going to be memorable
because of what led up to it. It's another one
of those cases of what the chase to the title

(13:54):
was more compelling than the actual title run. Yeah, which
happens from time to time. But but yeah, have Cody went,
dropped the belt, get him out of the main event picture,
let him cool off a little bit, and then just
have he'll Sena just do his thing throughout the year.
I don't know, that's just my opinion on it.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Here would be a fun fact, So technically the Universal
Championship is still active under the undisputed title. If John
Cena wins the Undisputed title. He'll be the only wrestler
to have held the previous World Heavyweight Championship, the WW Championship,
and the Universal Championship by a technicality.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
I never even thought of it like that.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
I've been wondering this for years of who's gonna be
the first person to hold those three titles? And now
it's like, well, well they got another World heavy champions who's
gonna be the first one? The whod all four of them?
It's no harder with the Universal titles sort of out
of the picture.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
Yeah, yeah, but I mean I don't know it's it.
I mean, it's a possibility.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
My thought on that, just because those are the three
now four original World Championships ww's created.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Yeah, I don't know. We I mean see and like
I said, a lot of this hangs on whether or
not seen it can even beat Cody or they even
pulled the trigger on that. I can see it. I
think it is a strong possibility, but who knows. But
we will see. WrestleMania is April nineteenth and twentieth. Is
it Night two? Are they fight? Are they gotta be? Yeah?

(15:20):
I think it's got It's got to be the main
event of night too. I mean, I know that jay
Uso is going against Gunter and there you know he.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
Said he doesn't care where he's on the car as
long as he's on it and beats to go there.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Well, I mean, I I understand that from a KFE perspective,
but like from a personal standpoint, you win the world rumble,
don't you want to at least close one night?

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Yeah? Well I always hate that they said, oh, you
main event WrestleMania, when like there's been a handful of
times that has not been the case. Yeah, like they
need to stop drop that whole main event thing and
just say you get the world title match.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
Yeah yeah, I mean because first one that comes to
my mind, Yeah, there's that one oscar that's Grandy Orton.
Randy Okay, just spitfiring.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Seamus.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Seamus was I was thinking like Undertaker wrestlming at twenty
four seth.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
Rowans, seth rawlins, Okay rest than twenty four or was that?

Speaker 1 (16:14):
No? It was Undertaker on Batista, No Undertaker and.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Yeah the year you Undertaker won, he main invented.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
Okay, okay, see but like Somes the year he won,
I'm always wrestling thirty five.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
He opened the show Yeah, Randy Orton, which was thirty three,
he was somewhere in the middle because Undertaker and Roman
closed the show. Uh shinsk Nakamura and Oscar both won
the twenty eighteen Rumbles.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
Yeah, and I remember that was a very exciting thing.
That was the first women's Rumble. Yeah, and that was like,
that was a huge thing. And then Shen's get Knockamore
winning it. I remember that was a huge thing. And then
a lot of like the New Japan fans were like
clamoring for this because aj Styles is a champ at
the time. Yeah, she get's going to challenge him, and
then what we get Yeah, yeah, something that I can't

(17:04):
full I can't fully say on the air. Yeah, but
it was very lackluster. Yeah, if you if you, if
you were not watching around that time, it was, Yeah,
it was very lackluster, very much. It could have been better. Yeah,
with the talent that they had at their disposal right there,
it could have been a lot better.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Yeah, like with with that wrestling, but Brock and Room
and closed that WrestleMania. Actually that was think about it.
I think only one Women's Rumble winner, no to two
Women's Rumble winners have actually mainovented Becky Lynch when she
won yep, and then Bianca Blair maynovated night the first
Well Night one of res May thirty seven.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
Yeah, okay, yeah, there's that now now. Well, I guess
it would just depend on what is going on around
that time, because I was I've always kind of been
under the belief that the champ should close the show,
but I think under certain circumstances that should not be
a thing, or the rumble winner should match should closed

(18:00):
the show at WrestleMania, But again depending on the circumstances
that can be.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
Yeah, which I've always the one one of the reason
I've always heard the whole their main eventage like, well,
sometimes the story is just not really there, like the
Tiffany Charlotte story.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Yeah, Triple H and Chris Jericho WRESTLEMANI eighteen, it wasn't
really it was pretty lackluster. I mean it was okay
leading up to it, but if you go back and
you watch like that Attitude era around that time, when
Jericho won both belts, Beat the Rock and Stoke Hold
in the same night, it was sort of a flop
in a way.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
Yeah, it was also had to follow with the Hogan Rock.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
Yeah, like that's and that's also the other thing, like
on the wrestlemaniacord when you got like it's like a
triple h and Randy Orton when they had to follow
Michael's and and Undertaker a Wrestling twenty five, Like, how
are you supposed to follow that?

Speaker 3 (18:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Like it's you know you're not And I think I
think the way the story went. They came in, they're like,
all right, y'all are fifth on the card, and Takers
like fifth, fifth, Yeah, okay, okay, and he just laces
his boots up and he's like, all right, all right, fifth,
you want fifth? Okay? And I don't know if Yeah
that was then we see arguably one of the greatest

(19:12):
WrestleMania matches of all time, and Undertaker versus shar was
one at Wressemania twenty five. So but speaking of WrestleMania Weekend,
one thing is returning though, and that is the Slammy Awards.
If you're new to this and you're just getting into
professional wrestling, the Slams are basically like the Oscars for
professional wrestling. I believe they're fan voted too, Yes, yes,

(19:36):
I think most time they are fan voted, So it
won't be on I don't think it's going to be
on Peacock or anything, or Netflix or anything like that.
It will just be on like all of their social
media platforms. But it will take place April twentieth's pretty
much the weekend every day of Night two, Yes, during
the day of Night two of WrestleMania that Sunday, I mean, yes,
it will go across all social media platforms, and typically

(20:02):
during that they will have awards like you know, Wrestler
of the Year, I think Day the Year, Moment of
the Year.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
Yeah, I was getting I say, while you're doing that.
They used to do these slammis I think at the
end of the year, and I didn't realize that they
actually did it during ww World last year. I didn't
realize they did that.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
Last year, did they?

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Yeah, because I was looking up about this and I
found out, Yeah, they did it last year in the
Wrestling Weekend. Oh wow, I don't remember reading anything about
that from last year.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
I say, I don't remember any of that. Yeah, okay,
I got twenty twenty. Yeah, I have twenty twenty. On
March twenty second, twenty twenty four, exactly a year from today,
it was announced that the Slammis were returning and the
winners would be entirely be determined by fans. Fan votes
devoting ran in March twenty second till the with the
winners being announced on April seventh from WWE World Like

(20:52):
What Josh Just Said and the ceremony hosted by Kathy
Kelly and Big E. The were Female Superstar of the Year,
Male Superstar the Year, Best Entrance of the Year, Return
of the Year, Faction of the Year, Rivalry of the Year,
NXT Superstar of the Year, Breakout Superstar of the Year, OMG,
Moment of the Year, Social Star of the Year. You

(21:14):
want to know who won that one? Yeah, Drew mcinturian.
Oh the hatred he has for seeing punk and power
a small village. Let's see Match of the Year, Mike
Drop of the Year, Rizzy of the Year, Trash Talker
of the Year, Villain of the Year, and Fan Chant
of the Year. So and as far as Fan Chant

(21:39):
of the Year last year, it was none other than
yeah So, but that is what they have for last
year so far. Okay, they actually have it up here.
Let's see this twenty twenty five Slammy Awards. So far
they have Female Superstar of the Year. There's just categories
Female Superstar of the Year, Male Superstar of the Most

(22:00):
Memorable Entrance, OMG, Moment of the Year, Faction of the Year,
TAG Rivalry of the Year, NXT Superstar of the Year,
Match of the Year, WTF Moment of the Year, Social
Star of the Year, and Breakout Superstar of the Year. Yeah,
and just to give you a few records right before

(22:21):
we go to on this day in wrestling history, most
wins at the Slammies, It's tied with fifteen Shawn Michaels
and the Undertaker. Most wins in a single year is
tied between Shawn Michaels in nineteen ninety six and Seth
Rollins in twenty fourteen with six most nominations Seth Rollins

(22:43):
with thirty eight. Lord. Yeah, most nominations in a single
year in twenty fourteen, Seth Rollins was nominated fifteen times.
So I guess you could say that twenty fourteen definitely
was the year of Rawlins.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
He did, he did. He really did break out that year.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
He might be having himself a second WrestleMania main event, Hey,
Marquid one.

Speaker 1 (23:08):
Yeah. Third overall, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, maybe well, yeah,
he's gonna have They're gonna have the Tripletic Roman. Yeah. Roman.
They talked about that on SmackDown Roman Range seeing punk
and seth rawlins. Yeah, which some people are now saying
that that should be that should have been one of
the World Heavyweight title match. I can I can see
that point of view, but I also feel like that

(23:29):
kind of discredits Gunter like, and I'm gonna tell you
right now, I ain't saying it to his face. Yeah,
if y'all, if if y'all on the IWC want to
be my guest, I ain't knowing it. I am knowing
that anyway. On this day in wrestling history, March twenty third,

(23:57):
nineteen ninety seven, wrestle mani Y thirteen took place at
the Rosemont Horizon in suburban Chicago. The event would provide
long term fans with one of the greatest matches in
the history of professional wrestling. While the rest of the
card was lackluster to say the least, which was reflected
in the TV built up and low by rate for
the pay per view, the match was that WrestleMania thirteen

(24:20):
that was Austin versus heart.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
Owen Hart, Brett Hart, Red Heart.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
Yep, that was Brett Hart versus Stone called Steve Alston
because then the year before that, WrestleMania twelve Brett Hart
and Sean Michaels have the Iron Man Match. Then yeah,
thirteen was Brett Austin and then fourteen was Austin Michaels.
So there's your quick little history. Listen on that. March
twenty third, two thousand and four, at the WWE SmackDown

(24:49):
tapings in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kurt Angle was declared the
new general manager of the Blue Brand. The night after
Paul Haman quit in storyline as a result of being
drafted to Rawl. In further fallout from the drafting lottery,
Triple h was traded back to Raw without ever making
a SmackDown appearance.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
He didn't want to work SmackDown.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
He didn't want to work Tuesdays. That's what it was.
Another call back to Paul to another promo. Yeah, let's
see the Deadly Boys, and Booker t went the other
way in exchange. On the same show, Bradshaw debuted the
John Bradshaw Layfield gimmick that would transform his career in WWE.
In a matter of weeks and.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
The reason why he became w A champion because Triple
don't want to go to SmackDown.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
Yeah, he didn't want to do that, at least that's
what was said. Yeah, that's what was said at ECW
one night Stand in two thousand and five. Actually, but JBL,
like the Bradshaw gimmick was cool, but the JBL gimmick,
the wrestling god, all of that that put him on
the map.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
Yeah, him and Eddie, Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
Oh. And also, if you you think of it like this,
we're talking about John Cena, JBL, Bradshaw going to JBL
really set it up a year later for John Cena
to take the belt off of him to start his
legendary run at the top. Yeah, so it's all a
domino effect. Yeah. March twenty third, twenty fifteen, Daniel Brian,

(26:14):
John Cena, Mark Henry and Roman Reigns were victorious over
Bray Wyatt Caine seth Rawlins and Big Show on the
go home edition of WWE Monday Night Rawl for WrestleMania
thirty one from the Staples Centers Center in Los Angeles.
Sting also opened rawle for the first time ever. Yeah,
and we're gonna go a hand and pause right there

(26:35):
and take a quick break. When we come back, we
got some more wrestling news. We got new Japan stuff,
aew stuff, Steven Spielberg news, Yeah we did. We got
some more news coming up, so stay tuned.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
Yeah, it's time for the one of the grill Out.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
Here.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
It's Hartywood Septa.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
Welcome back, ladies, gentlemen to the Grill Out. I'm your host,
Tommy Jay, Jeff Betty. I'm joined by Josh Cole. Bye bye,
You'll get nothing. We got nothing Johnson to make sure
he told us that. Yeah. Also, yes, the memes, We've
talked about this at the break. The memes are wonderful. Yes.
When he said that, when he made a like he's
even made the the you can't see me joke, He's like,

(27:23):
he knows the joke. I love it that he said that.
He's like, y'all have made me into an invisible meme
for years, for the past fifteen years, and then somebody's like,
why is his hat and shirt talking to me now?

Speaker 2 (27:36):
So there's various lines throughout the promo. People have mems
like when your boss tells you something or whatever, you
get nothing or not.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
You and you asked for a race, you get nothing.
Memes are the only thing that is keeping all of
us going. But one thing that is keeping David Finley going.
He just won the New Japan Cup, defeating show to
show to Umino. Yeah, to win the New Japan Cup.
He will face Hiroki Godo for the w GP World
Heavyweight Championship at Soakura Genesis one April fifth. And if

(28:09):
you're wondering Finley, that sounds rather familiar. Yes, that is
the son of Fit Finley. Yeah. I will say when
when I first realized that he was wrestling in New Japan,
he was a little l little lukewarm. But he has
sort of come around now. I don't know if I

(28:30):
would have him main event material, but he yeah, he
he has definitely improved. These you know, part of the
Bullet Club war Dogs, I believe, so he's part of
that faction and everything.

Speaker 2 (28:44):
So yes, I don't really know much about Aim other
than him being Fit Fitley's son.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
Yeah, he's Fit Finley son and he wrestles in Nu Japan.
So another person, Uh, well, somebody else that you have
heard of? I've heard of, everybody has heard of, But
who I just found out is sort of a wrestling fan,
or at least an older old school wrestling fan. Is
Steven Spielberg. Did you believe would you believe that?

Speaker 2 (29:09):
Josh? Not really?

Speaker 1 (29:10):
No, see it catches you off card.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
I mean, granted when there were kids, sure, but yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
Yeah, I don't know if he still follows it, but
he definitely. According to Java Guerrero, who was on Busted
Open Radio, h Steven Spielberg is an old school wrestling fan. Quote.
I just finished working with Steven Spielberg, just finished the
movie is still not out yet, and he was a
wrestling fan. We were exchanging Andre the Giant stories and

(29:38):
when he used to watch wrestling down at the Grand
Olympic Auditorium, and you know John Tolo's The Golden Greek
used to be one of his favorites. Yeah, how you
know he's an old school wrestling fan. Is exactly used
to be one of his favorites. And we're talking about
all of this stuff and these are people that I
grew up with, that I've known since I was a kid.

(29:58):
And to have that report with Smielberg. He was a
fan because he got it. He understood the entertainment value
of pro wrestling. End quote. So somebody who is known
for their movies in the entertainment industry understands professional wrestling. Yeah,
it's almost like professional wrestling is universal. Oh my, I
think it is. I I tell people quite often, well,

(30:24):
I don't want to say quite often. I tell tell
tell friends of mine from time to time, or co
workers or whoever, whoever's willing to listen to me, that
everything circles back to wrestling. Like, and I'm not trying
to get into politics, but you think about politics even
before everything before what's going on now our president as
a Hall of Famer, Yeah, but politics like look at

(30:46):
look at the Jesse Ventura. Yeah, like easily transitioned over
into politics. Like that's there. You know, basic storytelling is
professional wrestling. One. You got a good guy, you got
a bad guy. You have a conflict, and you clash
to have this conflict, you have a climax, and then

(31:08):
you have your resolution. That's basic storytelling. One oh one.
Everything everything reverts back to wrestling, even I would say
even sometimes when it comes to sports, Okay, when you
have like when you have somebody a certain personality on
a team, people are going to gravitate towards that person

(31:29):
I just want to know who that person is. Like
for example, with football, you have Tom Brady. Tom Brady
is the goat. He has called the goat for a reason.
You know, he's a bit of a psychopath, but he
has called the goat for a reason. John Cena a
bit of a psychopath? How dare you do that to
that child? To say that to that child? Yeah, he
was a rude John Cena like yeah, but it all,

(31:55):
all of it reverts back to professional wrestling, and I
don't know, maybe that's much a y'all? Okay, Homicide retires
from professional That was a transition, that was It's just
next story I got lined up Hereide has retired from
professional wrestling after thirty one years. At an Outlaw Wrestling
event in Brooklyn, New York, on March twentieth, Homicide was

(32:17):
an at tag team with Bull James against Mike Santana
and offa junior. The match with a disqualification, but Homicide
demanded the match be restarted with no disqualification to this
being his retirement match. The referee agreed. Homicide announced his retirement.
Dude to his brain and that has started to impair
his speech and vision. Homicide is also most notable for

(32:38):
his time in TNA and Ring of Honor, and we
wish him, you know, retirement, yeah, and all that good stuff.
And yes, this took place in Brooklyn, New York. He
is from Brooklyn. And at the end of the show,
for some of you baseball fans out there, I cannot
say exactly what he said about the Mets, but he
did not have a he did not have kind words

(33:01):
to say about the New York Mets. But just to
transition over, we'll go over to what has been going
on with Alberto L Patron.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
Or Alberto de Rio for the WWE people who don't
know him by any other name.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
Yeah, I mean it's you know, Alberto del Rio formerly
known as Alberto del realm. During a Triple A show
on March fourteenth, al Patron Delrio was seen on fan
footage to have some type of fan. He tried to
jump the guard Yeah, he tried to jump the guardrail
in one spot, but moved over to the left side
of the arena and successfully jumped the guardrail there After

(33:38):
some words were exchanged. El Patron was seen throwing a
chair at a fan, to which he was then met
with a chair thrown at him along with some other
projectiles until he returned to ringside. This was during a
match with Alhejo Deel Doctor Wagner Junior or the son
of Doctor Wagner Junior. Tv as Teka confirmed that this

(33:59):
altercation started after throwing beer and coins at El Patron.
The chair that El Patron threw hit a woman in
the take him to a hot doubt. The local Wrestling
Commission issued a six month ban on l Patron. This
will not affect any Triple A shows unless that show
is in Tijuana and more of the story.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
Don't throw chairs at elderly people.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
Don't don't throw Okay, Okay, this is this is a
double edged sword. Don't throw chairs at elderly people. Yes,
like that, even even if you take professional wrestling out
of just don't do that. Don't do it. Don't yeah,
you know, don't do it. Yeah, if you're even thinking
of going in that direction, don't do it. But why

(34:42):
are you okay with throwing coins at somebody? Yeah? Like that?
That hurts? Yeah, And I know professional wrestling is not easy.

Speaker 2 (34:53):
I know. But El Patron ain't a great guy.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
Yeah, Like we all know that he is. His his
reputationation perceives him in certain aspects, and maybe that is
why this suspension came about the way it did. Why,
like it goes both ways. Why do people think it's
okay to throw beer and and and we don't know
if it was full beers or whatever, but to just

(35:17):
throw beer at him and to throw coins, Yeah, I
mean that's like, I know that there's people out there like, oh,
you know, talking about the old school wrestling and stuff.
I know that. I think it's back in Puerto Rico
with WWC World Wrestling Council, they would throw batteries, battery
acid at people. Good lord, yeah, like it Like, I'm

(35:39):
not condoning that. Don't do that, don't like Okay, a
little bit of a rant from me. I know that
you buy your your ticket and you're like, I can
do what I want. No, No, I hate that. I
hate that attitude of oh I bought I bought this ticket.
I can do what I want. No, you cannot, Like
there are certain things that you should not do. How

(36:01):
many times, Josh, have we seen as professional wrestling fans
over the year somebody jumps the guardrail, Yeah, and they
get into the ring and what happens to them? Yeah,
all right, and like even if it happens these days,
it doesn't it's not nearly as bad as it used
to be. But back in the day, I mean, there
was the there's a video of what Austin and Triple
H in Germany fan jumps, the railing goes after Austin.

(36:26):
Triple H, who is the heel, doesn't know what he's
supposed to do at this point, and he just slams
the fan down. And I think it was Mike Kyota,
who was a referee. They just started kicking the kicking
the snot out of that dude. Yeah, no, I hate
that anyway. I hate that ticket.

Speaker 2 (36:45):
Get your ticket to the show to be entertained, not
to become a part of the show and do things
that might otherwise be illegal.

Speaker 1 (36:52):
Yeah, that might be illegal. That might start, uh, some
type of riot I don't want, maybe not that far,
but like you might injure somebody. Or here's another thing,
and this has nothing to do with professional wrestling. A
couple well, no, about a week or so ago, week
and a half ago. Uh, we are at a a

(37:14):
concert and there's people behind us. I hate this, people
behind us who are talking and they are just and
they're talking so loud you can hear them over the
music that it has nothing to do with the show.
Same thing, like like any type of event, if I
am there and I'm trying to pay attention to the show,
whether it's a professional wrestling show or whether it's a

(37:37):
concert or whatever, do not, like take take the talk
somewhere else. Yeah, take it somewhere else. And like my
brothers and I we've we've went to wrestling shows. My
brothers had beer spelt on him before from people who
were just you know, had had a little too much
and they're not paying attention and they spilled like they
spilled a whole whole beer down the side of him.

Speaker 2 (37:58):
I have a comment on that in a minute, Like.

Speaker 1 (38:00):
It's like I don't I don't know. Just don't just
don't do it, Yeah, just don't do it. I understand
why the Commission did give Patron this six month band
from Tijuana, because I think some of that is his
reputation that does perceive him. But also like this would
not have started if he was not getting coins thrown

(38:22):
at him. Yeah, Like and if he didn't respond the
way he did, I don't think the band would have
happened either. But again, it all started once fans were
throwing coins and beer at him. Yeah, so I'll hand
it off to Josh because he has a comment. So okay,
maybe maybe it started with drunk drunk fans.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
Anyway, It's really like, I'm going to be in a
very small minority here. I don't think beer should be
had shows really, yeah, because fair fair, just stupid things happen.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
Yeah, no, I I get that point of view. I
also I get the other side, because there's people who
I'm also.

Speaker 2 (38:59):
A kind of pristed, like why why do you have
to drink to enjoy a show? I'm not a drinker myself, but.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
Still, yeah, no, I get that. Like I understand where
some people were like I would I would like to
have a couple of adult beverages, not this, you know,
stone cold levels of one beer, beer, three beer, a
bloody Mary. We're not getting blasted. But what but like

(39:24):
I the uh hold on, hold on, where am uh
there it is? Yeah all right, I just had to
throw that in there. I get like, you don't want
to you don't want a few people to be punished
for the behavior of the many. But I get your
I get your point of view there because like that

(39:46):
is the issue. Uh, that that is the problems that
do come about. It's kind of like when Milan Pushcar
Stadium up in Morgantown started selling beer. Yeah, I know
people who went the Mountaineer games for years and they
quit going because they started selling on alcohol. So like,
I don't I guess I'm neither on this. I don't

(40:07):
really care either way. There's some wrestling promotions you go
to that don't sell beer, and then there's some wrestling
promotions you go to and you can buy a whole
picture and sit there and enjoy yourself.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
Yeah, I'll tell you one thing. Crazy beer at bowling
that just does not sound like a good combination.

Speaker 1 (40:26):
I've done that a couple of times. I've been there
a couple of times. Okay, listen, this this involves wrestling. Okay,
all right. I've been to a couple of Uh, they
weren't torn as she's just friends going out. I went
to a couple of times bowling and some drinks have
been brought out, some some buckets and pictures have been
brought out, and next thing I know, I am guttering

(40:50):
the ball while walking around, while turning around doing the
Rick Flair Strutt thinking I'm cool and I just completely
missed the pins, So like that's the entertainment side of it.
Like a friend of mine, we would, uh it was
him and I against some against two other people, and
anytime we would hit the pins, we would too sweet

(41:11):
each other, like we would sit there, we would like
do the whole like Scott Hall and Kevin Nash like
it was. It was see Josh everything reverse wrestling, right.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
But I mean, I'll say catchphrases to my friend who
knows nothing about wrestling.

Speaker 1 (41:26):
Don't you love that? They just kind of look catching
like a deer in headlights like that?

Speaker 2 (41:30):
And then eventually they start saying not even really knowing
what it is, but that's true.

Speaker 1 (41:34):
That's it's it is always, it is always. I'll say this,
It warms my heart when there's somebody that is not
a wrestling fan or wasn't a wrestling fan, and then
they come up to you and they're like they are
they're trying to understand it, and they're like, Okay, this
is a promotion, right, this is a heel, this is

(41:54):
a face, Like they're actively trying to understand this world.
Like it warms my heart I'm happy be when I
when I see such things.

Speaker 2 (42:02):
There's the Zach Ryder, you know, the beginning of his
theme songs like woo woo woo, who a little thing?
I say that stupid like to of my friends. And
he's started to say every now and then.

Speaker 1 (42:12):
It's it was. It was like a like a meme
before like memes became what they are now.

Speaker 2 (42:18):
So yell a lot to them.

Speaker 1 (42:19):
Oh yeah, like I used to. I used to make
my mom mad when I was a teenager because I
would say what she would be talking about? What what? Jeffery,
I'm going I'm gonna give you something. What about here
in a second if you don't, Yeah, listen. Even though
I'm thirty and I'm on the on the younger side
of things, my mother was still old school about things. Yeah. Now,

(42:42):
she wasn't like Undertaker old school like jump like jumping
off the top rope, you know, doing the old school like.

Speaker 2 (42:49):
I used to have a gun to nice and luck room.

Speaker 1 (42:53):
Video games. I think we're better off with the video games.
I got respect for what you did for the business,
but I I think it's better that we got the
video game.

Speaker 2 (43:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (43:04):
Oh, last thing before we go, before we get to
the main events. AW Dynasty is starting to shape up
due to a double pin by Mike Bailey Speedball Mike
Bailey and Ricochet. They both will face ken you Omega
for the AW International Championship at Dynasty in a triple
threat match. Elsewhere, after she defeated Chris Statlander, Meghan Bain

(43:26):
will face Tony Storm for the AEW Women's World Championship. Now,
I've seen some conversation online. Some people want Megan Baine
to go ahead and get it. They want Tony to
go ahead and drop the belt. I'm there yet. Yeah,
she just came off of a hot feud with Mariah May.

Speaker 2 (43:46):
Yeah, it feels way too soon.

Speaker 1 (43:48):
Yeah, I think I think people are people are worried
because they have been giving Meghan Bain, They've been pushing
her and showing her as this this force to be
reckoned with. I think Tony Storm is good enough in
the ring to be able to pull this off, win
the match, but also still make Megan bang look like
a million bucks. Yeah. Yeah, so I'm not too worried

(44:10):
about it, but I still I would rather Tony Storm
have the belt for at least a little bit longer. Yeah,
maybe test this out and then later on circle back
to Meghan Baine. But yeah, also after gruesomely taking Coach's
batspike to the back on this past week's Dynamite and
retaining his title, John Moxley will officially defend the AW

(44:33):
World Championship against Swerve Strickland. That was nasty. Whoa, I'll
say this, that was a pay per view spot. Yeah,
like the fact people, I'll say this. People can say
what they want about John Moxley, and I am not
the biggest fan of the deathmatch stuff hardcore wrestling. Sometimes

(44:55):
I like it. I think there's a time and place
for it. I felt like think there was a time
and place for this. I don't think this was the
time nor the place for such a spot. Yeah. Like
I said, I feel like that was more of a
pay per view spot, Like I would rather people pay
money to want to see that instead of it just
being on free TV. But give John, I'll say this,

(45:19):
Give John Moxley his flowers though, because he was having
a lot of issue like travel issues to get there.

Speaker 2 (45:26):
What eleven hours just to get there?

Speaker 1 (45:28):
Yeah, you drive eleven hours to get there, which is crazy.

Speaker 2 (45:30):
Couldn't take any planes in there because like storms or something.

Speaker 1 (45:33):
Yeah, there was a lot of bad storms last week.
I think there was. I think we had a tornado
outbreak in Midwest down into the South last week, so
that a lot of a lot of flights were cancel
would have not happening. I give him flowers there because
most people would have said, all right, I can't make it.
But instead he got into the car and drove eleven hours.

(45:55):
I mean, give the guy vacation. Now the funny, I'll
say this one of the funnier things that came out
of this. We talk about memes and uh John Moxley's wife,
Renee Petet Piquette, she does not shy away from poking
fun at her husband because she took the screenshot of
the nails in the back and was like, that's my

(46:17):
emergency contact. So I think, yeah, I did not see
Cope winning this one. Anyway. I thought it was an okay,
I thought this. I thought this past Dynamite was a
good episode of Dynamite, especially with what they had at
their disposal, with all the storms that were going on.

(46:38):
But yeah, like that was that was not a free
TV spot, No, that was that was a pay per view.
It's kind of like the the pizza cutter that was
that that was not that's not a free TV spot,
that is a pay per view spot.

Speaker 2 (46:56):
That was great with that one.

Speaker 1 (46:57):
That was perfect time I saw that was sheer coincidence? Yeah,
it had to have been. I wonder, like just coming
from being in with like my background being in production,
I put myself in the head of like that director
that called that that threw that too commercial in his
liquor picture. I was like, oh, oh, we gotta dominates

(47:22):
commercial wise. He's using a pizza cutter on Jericho. Yeah,
oh it a slice of Jericho. No, nobody, Nobody wants
a slice of Jerich. But yeah, yeah, like I said,
I don't know, that's just that's my thought on the
Moxley spot. Do you want to put your two cents
on that?

Speaker 2 (47:43):
It looks like it hurt. Yeah, I think it was
supposed to stick it like that.

Speaker 1 (47:47):
I don't think it was either.

Speaker 2 (47:48):
There's a part I didn't catch it when it was
aired live, but there's a clip Wheeler Uda goes up
and trying to help him get it off, and John's.

Speaker 1 (47:54):
Like, dude, as spot spot. Then he goes out and
co picks to the table like oh yeah, skin off
his back. Yeah, like I then we'll go to the
after I saw that, I had to look up like
old like mc foley and carry funks like hardcore spots.

(48:15):
Apparently there's one. It was an e c W that
involved a flaming chair and it was Tommy Dreamer, Terry
Funk and McK foley. There is not that much footage
of this, that's how bad it was. Yeah, wrestling is
not for the faint of heart. Sometimes I will say
this for children, for you know, if you got small kids. Yeah,

(48:38):
some promotion for kids not for kids at all. There's
certain promotions that are I don't want to say a
of is not for kids all the time. But then
there's spots like that where it's like whoa no, no.
Then again I hear I am thinking about that, and
I remember when Randy Orton got thrown into the thing
of thumbtacks for Mick Foley when he was attempting an RKO.

Speaker 2 (49:00):
Yeah, some text always make me cringe.

Speaker 1 (49:03):
Yeah, it's it's a like visually it is a yeah,
it's a ji. Yeah, but it's like, oh, doesn't that happen? Like,
I know, wrestling hurts in general, but to be willingly
by all right for me on that bed of thumb
tacks right now. I mean that's like the stuff that
you would see over in like how Big Japanburg Wrestling

(49:26):
now back in the day FMW were a deathmatch promotion
over in Japan, Like you see some of the stuff
like we saw from John Moxley is kind of mild
compared to what has what other deathmatch stuff I've seen,
Like yeah, it's a it's a lot. But anyway, Uh,
here's the main event. It looks like all the talking

(49:47):
it's been done. It's time for the main event. Welcome
to the main event. Thursday, March twenty seven, New Blood
twenty YEP startdom as a jokey promotion over in Japan.
Also Saturday and Sunday, March twenty ninth and thirtieth, Game
Changeable speaking of death matches, Yeah, we'll hold No Compadre

(50:10):
on Saturday, followed by America's Most Wanted on Sunday. Speaking
of death matches, but with a Z it's yeah, it's
uh it's edgy. Yeah, and yeah, speaking of death matches.
Game Changer Wrestling be warned, Uh be warned.

Speaker 2 (50:28):
Fus carrying cross just speaking GCW he'll be at the
Bloodsport event during WrestleMania.

Speaker 1 (50:33):
Week, okay, and so we'll be done. Okay, the the
Josh Barnett blood Sport stuff. Okay, cool, cool, which we'll
We'll keep you all updated to the best that we can.
There's so many events that go on the week of WrestleMania, just.

Speaker 2 (50:45):
To fi I was putting it together, there's too many
of the lists, so I just put a.

Speaker 1 (50:49):
Few on that. Okay, just a few ones. Well, you
know what, We'll figure that part out when we get
to it. Oh yeah. Because also, like the weather's getting warmer,
so there's a lot of local wrestling, speaking.

Speaker 2 (50:59):
Of there's not local lot that week just because.

Speaker 1 (51:02):
Yes, yes, but there are still a lot of a
lot of promotions like to put shows on people at
the weather's warmer. But yeah, and speaking of local wrestling.
On Thursday, March twenty seventh, Premier Wrestling at mid Atlantic
returns to Concord University in Athens, West Virginia. This is
a free show with a bell time of six o'clock.
On Friday, March twenty eighth, Real Shoot Wrestling will be

(51:23):
at the Canall Lounge in buck Canon, West Virginia, presenting
No Laws. Bell time is nine o'clock and admission is
ten dollars, but this show is ages twenty one and up.
