Speaker 1 (00:21):
I got one hundred and forty one and two thirsts winning,
but brought up.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
I am bad and I ain't know lot bad.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Why are the many hour? And look there with a
dollar you speak me stop sho.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Welcome to the Grill Out from the heart of Sillion,
West Virginia.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Here's your host, Hollywood Chef Petty. Welcome back, ladies, gentlemen,
to the Grill Outs, episode ninety. I am your host,
Hollywood Jeff Petty, and I'm joined by one of my
illustrious co host.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Which one the Reflection Enough Perfection. Jason Linkins greatness himself.
Ladies and gentlemen. When you're good, you're good. When you're great,
you're me. I'm here, so the show is going to
be good. Josh isn't here, so the show is going
to be better.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Josh is off to an undisclosed location.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
I'll tell you exactly where he is, because last night
Josh lost his title that you lost the Grill Up
Predictions Championship. Not to me, no, that's okay, but to
Hollywood Jeff Petty, who is now again the champ we'll
say if I can defend it. Probably not, But the
(01:37):
fact that Josh is so upset that he didn't even
bring Yes, you're right, he's not even he's not here.
We haven't heard from him. But I have it on
good authority that he has found a cave and he
has walked deep into that cave.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
He has to belt with him. He does like he's Schmiegel. Yes,
he's Smigel Smigel, Yes, Segel Spiegelgel. Yeah, not Schmiegelgel.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Hey, they're going to come after me about well you No, No,
I don't want him to get me about I wish
we had I wish hey the Irish.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Yeah, he's not Smiegel, he's Josh is Schmiegel, Smigel Smigel. Yes,
I wish we had an animator to animate all of that.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Josh col Irish. You're not going to take me about.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
No, obviously not, because you're taking me about how would
my pens stay? Well, you know what, maybe he should
not have chose the actual TBS belt.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
I have no idea what he was doing. I don't
know either. Really, he brought this on himself. He kind
of did everything that's bad that happens to him. He
brings on himself.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
He he only got one match right.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Which one was it? I can't remember. I'll be honest,
I'm not even going to look up to see which
one he get right. No, because the fact that he
got any of them right with his picks was one
to two many.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
I am looking real quick to see which match he
did get right, and I think it was the Oh
it was uh Osprey and and swerve. Okay, he did
get that one right. That was the only one he
got right.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Yeah, I don't know which ones you got right. You
got two though, Yeah, I have no idea. Yeah, I
don't know either. I got four.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
So the final score four aw all in is me
with four, Jason with two.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
And Josh with only one point. Yes, yeah, but he did.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
I don't know how he did this, but he was
able to get into the rundown and he put down
his predictions for evolution.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Okay, they're in the document. I don't know how.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
I haven't looking at it this morning putting it together,
and I just saw that he did that. But we
still have not heard from him.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Well, listen, since you mentioned all in, yes, and since
I'm tired of talking about Josh.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Yeah, you're tired of talking about Josh.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
I am the only person I'm more tired of talking
about is Bill Goldberg, and I don't know any reason
why we'd have to bring him up on this show.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Oh boy, you're going to hate me.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
But one person I do want to talk about is
Adam Cole. Pulled from all In. Yes, unfortunately. What's going on, Jeff?
What's happening?
Speaker 1 (04:37):
According to Fightful, select word is backstage that Adam Cole
has suffered yet another concussion. The belief is that he
suffered this within the past week. The decision to pull
him from the show came early yesterday morning, so Saturday morning,
his All In match was changed to a fatal four
way match for the vacant TNT title, with Dustin Rhodes
(04:58):
and Sammy Gavar pulling double duty. Dustin Rhodes did win
the vacant title. Now, Adam Cole has not been in
the ring very much.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Yeah. Now, the TNT.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Title itself has been a little more visible than it
was with Daniel Garcia. But they've had Adam Cole one
commentary a lot on collision. Okay, some people rumor has
it is that he We don't know. We think that
maybe this might be the end for Adam Cole's career.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Really, he did talk yesterday.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
He came out and he spoke to the fans at
aw all in he mentioned the word retirement, okay, and
it was you know, it's not that he's retiring now,
but he kind of needs to take this into consideration
because this has been something that has plugged him is
concussion injuries.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
You know, for some reason, it seems like concussions are
one of the major issues in professional wrestling. For the
life of me, I couldn't imagine. And why Yeah, because
it's all fake. Well, according to some people it is.
It's scripted. Okay, We've had this conversation before and we're
about to have it again. I'm okay with that.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
Yeah, because some people might tune into this on fourteen
ninety am or five eighty am.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Because we are West Virginia's only radio show we about
professional wrestling. There's many radio shows in West Virginia.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
There's like fifteen that come out of this building a loan,
but we are the only professional wrestling radio show in
the state of West Virginia. Yes, I hate calling professional
wrestling fake. I hate it when people call it fake. Yes,
because it is not fake. It is predetermined. Yes, it
is choreographed, Yes it is scripted, it is scripted, all
(06:46):
of that, but it is not fake at all.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Yeah, Like look at the.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Look at the main event last night for all in
there was a fakeness with what the with the Texas
death Match. Whether you like death matches or not, there
was nothing fake about that there.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
You can't fake some of the stuff that I.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Can't say on the air due to FCC stuff that
was going on in that match. How many injuries have
we seen from a move that was done one hundred
times before and just so happened took this person out?
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Like whatever? I mean?
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Look at seth Rawlins. Seth Rawlins right now, we'll just
throw this out there. He he may be out. He
had an injury on Saturday Night's main Events.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
What happened? I didn't see it?
Speaker 1 (07:39):
So fightful select is reporting that seth Rawlins is legitimately
injured in his match with La Knight at Saturday Night's
main event. You could see Rawlins he's performing a moon
salt off of the ropes and he's he lands flat
on his feet, but he immediately brings his right leg
up and starts favoring his right knee.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
Now, is that the same knee that he injured whenever
he did the sunset bomb out of the corner?
Speaker 1 (08:04):
I think so. I'm almost positive that might be. That
might be the same injury, because, like concussions with Adam Cole,
knee injuries have been a big problem for seth Rawlins
now because of this, Okay, Brian Alvarez reported that the
last forty minutes of Saturday Night's main event had to
(08:27):
be rescripted, like on the five. Apparently something was supposed
to happen that involves seth Rawlins last night, Saturday Night,
and it did not happen because of his injury.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Again, it's a move that he has.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
Performed one hundred thousand times, thousands of times, hundreds of
times whatever, and just so happens, this was the one
he lands just a little awkwardly and does something to
his knee. We don't know the extent of the injury,
but we do know that it We do know, according
(09:05):
to reports, that he is legitimately injured, which apparently which
real quick throws a huge wrench apparently into SummerSlam. Well yeah, yeah,
like they apparently there's there's all kinds of plans they
had for seth Rawlins and Company. And yeah, because of this,
they they're gonna be scrambling a little bit.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Well, okay, if let's say he's out for over a year.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Yeah, because he was out for over a year close
to a year the last time he injured his knee.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Yeah, but he has the money in the bank and
you have to cash that in within that year to
money in the bank. So do they strip him of it?
Does he hold on to it and never gets to
cash it in? What goes on that's true? Do they
do a free bird rule? And now it's brown breaker
or Paul Hayman? I don't know. Yeah, I don't know either.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
I this is is very much uncharted territory for something
like money in the bank.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
And I guess here's my thing. I would wait.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Until you got word on what his recovery time is
going to be. What injury does he have. If it's
a few months, take him off TV.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Just take him off TV. Don't even don't take him,
don't take the briefcase off of him. Just take him
off TV.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
That way, he's away, he's out of sight.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
Out of mind.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
People kind of forget about the money in the bank, briefcase,
royal rumble, Bam, Rowlins is back, cash is.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
In or do you have Hayman on TV holding the briefcase.
I mean, that's that's that's actually a good idea, you know,
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
Yeah, like there's there's there's a few different ways you
could go about this. But I hope it's nothing too
serious with with Rowlins, and I hope it's nothing too
serious with Adam Cole. No.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
I mean, I definitely hope if both of them want
to get back in the ring.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
I hope they can, Yes, but I hope that they
put their health in front of their profession. Yes, which
it seems like that's exactly what's happening. Well, that's what
needs to happen, yes, with any profession. Yeah, And we
know and this is more of a more of an
old school wrestling mentality of I'm injured, I'm going to
push my way through this match. I'm going to push
(11:24):
through this these injuries that I have, and they just
keep mounting and mounting and outing until it gets to
the point that you can't you can barely walk. We
have the right medicine these days, we have the right technology,
the right science and everything to help such injuries, to
help people you know who who suffer these types of
(11:45):
injuries in athletic settings. So with that in mind, I
do I really hope that they do take their health
very seriously. It looks like Adam Cole definitely is. I
hate to hear him mention retirement. Yeah, but if that
is the route that he thinks that he needs to go,
(12:08):
more power to him. It's not the first time we've
seen it, and I'm sure it's not going to be
the last time we're going to see this.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
No, I mean, and if it is retirement, I hate
that because you should always be able to retire on
your own terms, but sometimes that decision has to be
made for.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
You, exactly, and unfortunately that decision has to be made
for you, and not everybody gets the ability to retire
on their own terms. Yes, and speaking of that, Yeah,
Goldberg had his final.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Yeah, we had to talk about.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Goldberg did indeed have his final match with Gunter at
last night, Saturday Night's main event. They went about fifteen
minutes in the ring, played to Goldberg's strength.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
So they gave each other their own concussion.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
I know they did not they wrestled a slower paced match.
Goldberg did have a brace on his knee, so he
worked Gunther worked the knee over a lot on him.
And I think, listen, Guther's the man. He pulled a fifteen.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
Minute match out of Goldberg.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
Yeah, a fifteen minute good match out of Goldberg, out
of an what almost sixty year old Goldberg.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
It doesn't matter, it's Goldberg, it's what, it's Bill Goldberg.
You pulled a good match out of Goldberg.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
They had various WCW legends there, including DDP and Ernest
the cat Miller. Also Doug Dellinger, who was the head
of security for WCW and would walk out as part
of the security guards for Goldberg's entrances.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Back in the day.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Also there were Josh Barnett, Chuck Zito, and Goldberg's son, Gage,
who is looks like he's larger than Bill Goldberg. Now
we're also part of his walkout from the locker room
and he did not do his traditional head button.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Well that's good, Yeah, let's got I think Gage is
a nineteen and I want to say playing going to
be playing football for Alabama? I think so. I think
he is going to play. I don't know for who.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
I think he is going to be playing college football somewhere, which,
okay for the college football fans out there, Goldberg played
for the University of Georgia, an SEC team. Yes, how
much of a slap in the face is that that
your son's going to play for the SEC but not
for the University of Georgia.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
He's going to go for the Alabama Crimson tid. I
mean if in my mind, uh, it should be well,
my son is going to a school that's giving him
the best deal and he's not having to do exactly
what I did because I am such a self indulged
(14:57):
person that anyone in my fa amly has to do
the same exact thing as me. Very true. That's just
my opinion. No, no, no, no, it's a solid one. No,
I think Goldberg, Bill Goldberg, Bill would be that kind
of person.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
I don't know, We don't know, I don't We don't
know Bill Goldberg personally.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
But he did have his retirement match last night. He's
so he's done. He never have to talk about Bill Golder.
We never have to talk about Bill until they put
him in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
Yes, exactly, until he until we get around Hall of
Fame season and.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
You know they're gonna do it. How much you want
to bet right now?
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Episode ninety of the Grill Outs on July thirteenth, Also
my anniversary, Yeah it's I and anniversary July thirteenth. Yes,
episode ninety of the Grill Out. Yes, are you calling
it right now? That Goldberg is going to be in
the Class of twenty twenty six Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Okay, Bill Goldberg, Bill is going to be. But I'm
going to ask you this, Jeff, who inducts him? Oh hmm,
that's a good question because I think I know who.
Go ahead, but I want to hear yours. You want
(16:13):
to hear mine first?
Speaker 1 (16:13):
Yes, this would be kind of out of left field.
But from my understanding, they are decent friends Stone Cold.
Oh yeah, even though they were they were very like
one was in WWF the other was in w CW.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
From my understanding they are friends another, so I don't
know that was always the comparison. Though. People wanted to
see Goldberg versus Austin, Yeah they did.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
It was because of the the way they look.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
The bald head, goate, black trunks, black boots. Yeah, one
could have a good match. And the other one was
Bill Goldberg. Yes, exactly. So here's who I think. Okay,
Brett Hart.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
You know you think Brett Hart would induct Bill Goldberg.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
I want him to, why because I want to hear
what he's gonna say before Bill Goldberg comes out.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Do you do you think that he has a Do
you think he has a short speech or.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
A long speech? Oh, a very long speech. None of
it will be anything good about Bill Goldberg? Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
No, Like he like he does it, but he does
not mention Goldberg at all.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
Like he just mentions his his career. Brett, Like Brett
just talks about his career the whole time. I think
he should. Brett's career was a lot better than Bill Goldberg.
There's so many people that are booing you right now.
That's fine, It's okay, that's fine, it's okay.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Whenever I mentioned how much I like a ew, I'm
sure I got people booing me.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
That's fine. Yeah, it's I don't care. I don't either.
It's it's all fun. A boo is still a reaction.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
It is, it is, and your boos mean nothing because
we see what you cheer for.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Yeah, Like, I don't care. Yeah, I don't. I don't know.
I think it's perfectly fine to like Bill Goldberg. It is.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
I know plenty of people that are not hardcore fans
of professional wrestling but heard about like when Bill, when
Bill Goldberg, when Coldberg originally came back and faced Brockelsner
in that squash match at survivorcy. I had a lot
of people who hadn't followed wrestling in a long time
come and talk to me like, hey, I saw Goldberg's back,
(18:22):
and they're sitting there talking to me about it, and
I'm like, okay, cool, cool cool, which that one was
okay up until they put the title on them.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Yeah, never should have No, he never should have beaten
the fiend. I think the initial Bill Goldberg experiment in
WCW was a great success for them. Absolutely. They knew
what Bill Goldberg's strengths and weaknesses were. Yes, so they
only had Bill Goldberg in short squash matches, you know,
(18:50):
and then if they needed Bill Goldberg to be in
a longer match, they made it heavy. Reason. How many
people do you think are listening right now and from
here on out, whenever they think of Goldberg, they're going
to immediately say Bill Goldberg. I hoop all of them
because as many times as we it's it's even caught me.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
I want to say Goldberg, but I don't like Bill Goldberg. Goldberg,
Bill Goldberg, that's for you, Brett, Bill Goldberg. It was
also announced yesterday on NXT The Great American Bash that
NXT heat Wave will take place Saturday, August twenty fourth.
This will be the same day as AEW and NJPW
(19:27):
Forbidden to wors.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
What another counter programming? No, no, not competition? Then why
treat like competition?
Speaker 1 (19:35):
You know.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
It's annoying, Yes, it really is. Now.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
I will say this past weekend was fantastic for professional wrestling,
absolutely fantastic, from Ring of Honor, a Supercard of Honor,
to NXT Great American Bash Saturday night's main event last night,
aw all In yesterday, as well to WWE Evolution today.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
But I think when.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
You book it like that, when you book matches like that,
when you book shows like that to counter program this,
like just to do just to counter program AEW on
some of their bigger shows, you are hurting your own product. Yes,
you are just being a detriment to your own product,
which is unfair to the talent. You look petty, yes,
(20:22):
and that listen, my last name is petty. And I
don't approve that of that level of pettiness. I'd like
a good dose, like if Brett Hart came out and did,
in fact, induct Goldberg Bill Goldberg.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
And spent like ten minutes talking about his own career.
Some people may not like it.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
I will laugh because I'm like, Okay, that's a level
of petty. I don't know if I want to aspire
to it, but I can respect it. To constantly be
counter programming aew and essentially showing everybody, yeah, they are
our competition.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
It is.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
It's a level of petty I don't want to be
at because to me, it's punching down. Yes, Like why
do you feel the need to punch down? Yes, Like
just go back, go back to the old days with WWE,
when you just ignored everybody outside of the w W bubble.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
No, don't do that, don't do I almost think that
just doing that is a bigger is a bigger flex
than constantly counter programming, because then it's like, Okay, we're
not even worried about them, like we we don't.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
Care they like, how long was it that like TNA
was going.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
On, never mentioned on WWE programming. Same for Ring of Honor.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
I mean Ring of Honor really wasn't mentioned on WWE
programming into what the pipe bomb? I think there may
it may have been mentioned a couple times before that,
but I know the pipe bomb, it was really apparent
what he was saying.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
So, yeah, I don't I don't understand it.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Maybe it's because I'm not a business person, so I
just it makes it does It makes you look childish,
it makes you look weak, and it is a detriment
to your own product.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Like how many people do you think maybe wanted to.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
Watch Great American Bash yesterday, but it was like, Hey,
I paid fifty dollars for this pay per view with
AW I'm going to watch this pay per view. Or
they're like, hey, I want to watch Saturday Night's main event,
but we still have two matches to go on all in,
so I'm going to.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
Miss the opening to Saturday Night's main event. It's like,
why can't they put Bill Goldberg at the very beginning
of Saturday Night's main event so I don't have to
worry about catching the beginning. That's true.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
Now, last Berg did say Bill Goldberg, You're really trying
to get that.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
Over last night.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
Bill Goldberg did say he was like, I guess thanking
everybody went in the ring and the feed cut him off.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
Okay, Yeah, I'm like, okay, that was well, you see
I have it on good authority that back in the network,
that where Josh is maybe maybe okay, that in the
television truck, the control room for all television. Brett Hart
(23:16):
flipped the switch.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
He was like, I'm gonna get one last one over
on your Bill Goldberg's Oh boy, all right, let's switch
gears to On this day in wrestling history, July thirteenth,
(23:45):
nineteen ninety six, e CW heat Wave ninety six took
place at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
Go look it up, Google it.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
The main events saw The Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, and Terry
Gordy defeat Even Stevie Richards and Brian Lee in a
Rage in the Cage match. A pre match stipulation said
that if anyone pinned Richards in the match, that man
would win Raven's ECW World Championship. Sandman pinned Raven for
the win, so the title change didn't happen. One title
(24:19):
change that did occur was Shane Douglas winning the ECW
World Television title in a four way elimination bout against
reigning champion Chris Jericho Pitball Number two and.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Two Cold Scorpio.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
Then, on July thirteenth, two thousand and five, Matt Hardy,
who invaded Raw in a work shoot angle two days prior,
called into WWE's Bite This Internet Call in show to
take aim at the show's guest lead up the angle.
The angle both were working was derived entirely from the
very real life situation with the lead of cheating on
(24:55):
then boyfriend Hardy with Edge while the former was off
the road nursing an injury. On the show, Hardy aired
all the dirty laundry from their real life and deliberately
addressed her as Amy dumas her real name rather.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Than Lyda.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Oh Yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Then work shoots Brother, and.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
Then finally, on July thirteenth, twenty sixteen, a champion versus
champion match took place at the TNA Impact Wrestling tapings
at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. DNA World Heavyweight Champion
Bobby Lashley defeated X Division Champion Eddie Edwards to win
Edwards title, and we're going to take a quick break
(25:37):
and when we come back, we have WWE Evolution Predictions.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Stay tuned. This conference worth the grow out.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
Here's Mollywood, Jeff Page.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
Well the back, ladies and gentlemen to the grill out.
I'm your host, Hollywood, Jeff Petty, and I'm joined here
with the reflection of Perfection jasonly Likens.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
Yes you are, Yes, I am, And here we go
with Evolution predictions. First of all, WWE get better with
the women's division. Absolutely, absolutely put effort into it. Yes.
The fact that this has just all kind of been
haphazardly put together for Evolution two is pathetic. Yes.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
And the fact that it's been seven years Yeah, yeah,
seven years since the last Evolution pay per view. Like
you have the talent, you have it, use it, yes,
Like quit being petty. Yes, and this is coming from
a guy whose last name is Petty again.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
Stop with the counterprogramming. Yes. If you're going to do
counter programming, make it count, make it build into something. Yes,
there is no reason why this show is getting the
short end of the stick that it is.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
And before people want to say that, I like, I'm
an aw fanboy, I have sung the praises of Triple
H on this program. Yes, I think he's been doing
up until here recently a very good job booking. Yes,
I think you know, he has had some fall off
here and there, which is to be expected of a
product that big. Yes, quit getting lazy with your booking. Yes,
(27:31):
just quit getting lazy with it. I I it's it's very,
very frustrating to to be a be a fan of
professional wrestling and see this.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
I don't like the tribalistic stuff as it is. No,
I think you can like WWE, you can like AW,
you can like Maple Leaf, you can like New Japan,
you can like any of them. You can just like
progress sling.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
We actually had a gentleman uh last weekend at Regatta.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
While we were at Slamburrie.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
Tell us that he he prefers the local stuff over
the national stuff.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
And that's okay. Yeah, I mean that's great.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
Yes, that's absolutely that's perfectly fine.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
Well, again, on a quick tangent here local stuff, you're
getting a cheaper product, so it is something that you
can actually go to, you can afford good seats to
go to. You know, they're not price gouging you. You know,
they're not charging four digits for nosebleed sections at a
(28:35):
local event, you're paying twenty five dollars for ringside. Yeah,
you get to meet the wrestlers, you get to talk
to them. While we were sitting there at Slambury, how
many people did you say, walk up to George South
and huff Manly Quite a few?
Speaker 1 (28:53):
Yeah, they and they greeted fans, took pictures with them,
sold merchandise. Yeah, like that is the wonderful most That
is the great thing about local wrestling is how much
access you get.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Now, don't don't be a jerk.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
Obviously we've we've talked about on the show about not
being those fans.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
Yes, don't be those fans.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
Be respectful of them, be respectful of their boundaries. But
if you have, if you're sitting there and you're listening
to this show and you got a kid that like, hey,
my kid really is in the wrestling, like like really
getting into it, I want to take them to.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
A show, Take them to a local show. I meant.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
We got a segment coming up here in about twenty
minutes called the main Event where we go ahead and
let you know what your upcoming week of professional wrestling
is going to look like internationally, nationally and locally. Yes,
we always make sure the local shows get their due diligence,
So yes, and real quick. I do want to say
the gentleman that I did talk to at Sir Pro
(29:50):
Tim McDaniel, Okay, yes, it was very hot at Regatta. Yes,
thankfully Jason went and got the car. I was not
going too well because of the heat.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
I had to drink a lot of water, a lot
of fluids, get a lot of fluids on me at once,
uh surfro and then were able to They had a
tint set up that had misters yea, yeah, yeah, I
had a lot of mysters in it and some fans
and that that saved the day for me. Like that
really helped me at that point, not just with you know, coupled.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
With the work that you did, Jason, like helping me, You.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
And Josh help me get me out of that situation.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
Those seven eleven gatorades are good. No, they're really good.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
Oh they're fantastic, Like it's surprising how good they are.
But yeah, Tim McDaniel, he we did get a chance
to talk. He talked about how he does like some
of the local stuff. He likes more of the local stuff,
and that's that's cool, that's fine. Just want to give
a quick shout out to him. Thank you to him
for all of that and for surf Surfro having that
that tint set up, that little little area set up
(30:51):
so that people could cool off.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
That was that was a nice touch. It was. But
you see, we we have talked more about surf Pro,
We have talked more about local wrestling then all of
WWE has done with evolution two exactly. And that's bad.
That is the problem.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
Yes, absolutely, And and you know what, speaking of evolution,
let's go ahead and get through the let's do the
predictions and everything.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
I wouldn't say, get through. Yeah, let's go ahead and
begin our predictions, our picks. Yes for WWE evolution. See
if I can finally defend a title. Probably not, Probably not. Okay,
we might have an I don't know, though, I don't know.
We might have a new champion at the end of this.
I don't know yet.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
All right, Jay C Jane will be defending her NXT
Women's Championship against Jordan Grace. The winner will go on
to face DNA Knockouts World champion Masha Slamovich at TNA
slamm a Versary on July twentieth, in a winner takes
all match, Josh went with Grace Jason.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
As much as I hate to, I have to agree
with them. I think that is going to be the
bigger matchup after the fact, I yeah, I think it's
gonna be Jordan Grace.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
I think the connection I agree with you there, so
I'm gonna go Jordan Grace as well. I think the
connection that Jordan Grace has with TNA, it would not
I think it would be stupid to ignore that going
into this, So I think her connection that plays into this.
Jordan Grace has shown how good of a wrestler she
is since she came to NX. I mean, she was
(32:22):
fantastic in TNA as it was in their Knockouts Division.
She's come to NXT and really shown what she's capable of, and.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
I think it's time to put the title on her. Yes.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
The Judgment Day, Raquel Rodriguez and Roxane Perez will be
will defend their Women's Tag Championship against Charlotte Flair and
Alexa Bliss. Also so Ruka and Zaria also the Kabuki
Warriors Warriors in a fatal four way match. That's Oscar
(32:53):
and Kyrie saying, yes, they are the Kabuki Warriors. Uh,
Josh is going Ruka and Zaria, he puts, I think, ww.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
How did he get into this? I have no idea.
I don't know's it's scaring me a little bit.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
I think WWA are going to kind of turn Ruka
into a bit of a belt collector, as she's the
current NXT and North American Champion and WWE Women's Speed Champion.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
Jason, because of what Josh said, I am strongly disagreeing.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
Okay, is is the belt collector gimmick running its course?
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Now? Yes, Okay, it's too much. Yeah, it's too much.
I think it's going to be Charlotte Flair and Alexa
Bliss because I think we are going to go back
to the old trope of how are these people going
to get along?
Speaker 1 (33:45):
Mmm?
Speaker 2 (33:47):
Fair? I'm I'm thinking wwe might be looking at this
as a way to get people to potentially like Charlotte
again because people love Alexa. Yeah, and you have Alexa
Bliss who is now back. Let's put a title on her,
let's proper up a little bit, and then let's have
(34:07):
Charlotte Flair there because Lord knows, we can't have titles
unless Charlotte is there. That's true, that is very true.
But I'm not going that way. Who are you? I'm
not going with Alexa Bliss Charlotte Flair. I'm not going
with the Legion of Doom. You mean the Judgment Day?
Speaker 3 (34:24):
No?
Speaker 2 (34:24):
I mean talk an Animal, Yes, the Legion of Doom.
Speaker 4 (34:29):
What.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
No, I'm not going to go them. I'm not going
to go them. I am going to go Judgment Day. Actually, okay,
why I just don't Now that Live Morgan's gone, you
think they're going to keep the titles on them. Maybe
give Roxane Perez a chance. I could see it, or
(34:51):
maybe this is the catalyst for being like Roxanne Perez.
You you drop the ball. We gave you a chance.
You didn't carry it, you didn't score the Oh you
dropped it, you fumbled it. You suck. I'm not saying
she does. I'm saying, yeah, you know you're flat. Now
I'm going Judgment Day. Okay, that's gonna be my final answer. Uh.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
Evolution battle Royal for a Women's World Championship match at
Clash in Paris on August thirty, first, twenty confirmed participants
so far. From RALE we have Stephanie Vaker, Ivy Nile,
Naya Jacks, Natalia and Maxine Dupree. From NXT we have
Kolanie Jordan, Jada Parker, Lolavice lash Legend, Izzy Dame, and
(35:36):
Tatum Pasley. And then from SmackDown we have Zeleena Vega,
Candice Loray, Meechen Bfab, Piper Nivin, Alba Fire, Chelsea Green,
and WWE Women's United States Champion Julia The only only
main event rosters Women's Champion not defending their title, Josh
is going Vacker and also WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
He's going back her. Yes, ye, I'm going page. Oh okay,
I think page will come back and it will be
a kind of a surprise entrant. There pages in the page. Yes,
the I'm confused right now page as in left wwe
(36:26):
went to aw.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
Oh oh okay.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
Who do you think I was talking? You know? Maybe?
Speaker 3 (36:34):
No?
Speaker 2 (36:35):
No. I think here's the thing I have been saying
for far too long that it's going to be a
j Lee. Yeah. I want it to be aj Lee.
I want aj Lee back, which makes sense because the
Mpunk's back in w W. Now, Yeah, do I think
this would be the perfect pay per view for aj
Lee to come back? Yes, yes I do. But Paige
(37:02):
Sorayah is now a free agent. Okay, I'm I'm going.
You're putting it out into the universe. I am, I am,
I am pushing all my chips into the pot. I
am going page.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
Okay, Okay, I'm gonna Nicki Bella Okay, yeah, no particular
reason I hate you?
Speaker 2 (37:26):
What? Okay? Because Josh is not here? No?
Speaker 3 (37:28):
No?
Speaker 2 (37:28):
Well, I mean no, who do you think was better?
Nicki or Bree? I think they were both terrible? Yeah.
I think Niki definitely had the more charisma of the two.
Free mo yeah, Brimo, that hurts my ear they hear that.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
I don't know. I would say Niki, but not by
much like I said Nicki was. She definitely had more
charisma than Bri. I think I think Brie could have
been more. But yeah, I'm good, But I'm gonna go
Nikki Bella Okay, Ye?
Speaker 2 (38:06):
All right?
Speaker 3 (38:07):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (38:07):
Jade Cargill versus Naomi in a no holds bar match,
Josh is going Naomi?
Speaker 2 (38:15):
Yeah you wanna go to Naomi? No cardgil Oh Okay,
I don't think I keep saying this. I don't think
it's the right time for Jade to lose. Mm hm.
So I'm going Jade Cargill, going Jade Cargo. I'm gonna
go to Naomi really yeah, Okay, I feel like that.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
They have been they have strapped their Rocket Tour, and
I think I don't I don't think that Jade is
going to lose like in bad fashion. I think she's
gonna go down swinging. Yeah, But I do think Naomi
is gonna get one over on her.
Speaker 2 (38:54):
Maybe that's the thing. Anything can happen in the World
Wrestling Federation Entertainment.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
Oh yes, they've been to w w W now longer
than they worthy WWS. I know.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
I brought that fact up on the show quite some
weeks ago.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
Yeah, it's still when you say it out and out,
it's still crazy.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
Yes, I think about it like, oh my gosh, yeah,
oh my gosh, we're getting old, all right.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
Becky lanching a true okay, so triple threat match for
the WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship. Becky Lynch will be defending
her title against Bailey and Lyra Valkyria. Josh is going Bailey.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
Actually, yeah, I am going Becky. I believe Lyra will
take the pinfall, which can lead into a story between
Bailey and Becky of Bailey saying like you didn't beat me.
M hm, So yeah, I think you got a good
point there. So I'm going with Becky. Go back, Jeff,
(39:58):
who am I going to go with? You know, if
you go Lyra, then one of us has to get
this match, right.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
That's true, That's very true. But I don't see it
being Lyra. I just don't Yeah.
Speaker 2 (40:09):
Hmmm, no, Watch win. Yeah, I know Watch pinned both
of them at one time. Uh what Roman rein Style
Restmania thirty six? Stack him? Yeah, stack him up a
triple threat match with Daniel Bryn and Edge. Yep, just
stack him. I mean Brian Danielson and Cope.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
Yeah, well I guess yeah, that's what they go by.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
Now. I still don't like Cope. No, I still don't
like it. I was, I was okay with Adam Copelan
I understood, but people might not be able to tell
him and Adam Page apart. Why couldn't he have been like,
you have Adam Page, so you just get Adam book.
(40:51):
But yeah, this match, this pick Becky Becky. Yeah, Okay,
I don't see.
Speaker 1 (40:57):
Bailey winning it. I just don't Lyra definitely don't see
her winning it. I think you're right. I think Lyra's
going to take the penfall on this one. That way
Bailey doesn't take doesn't look weak. And yeah, that's that's
kind of where I'm at with this.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
Okay, So Battle of the.
Speaker 1 (41:14):
Bonds pretty much WWE Women's at Championship match. Tiffany Stratton
will be defending her title against Trish Stratus. Josh says Stratton.
Speaker 2 (41:25):
Yes, Jason, I believe it is going to be Tiffany Stratton,
gonna be Tiffany Stratton. I am picking Trish because I
think it should be Trish. It should be Yesrish.
Speaker 1 (41:42):
Is it because of Tiffany Stratton's like run so far?
It's been It's been very lackluster. To me, it has
been lackluster. I I think her character is one dimensional.
She gets on the mic, it's the same thing. It's
just it's not great. I think she needs more time
(42:05):
to develop. Yeah, And I think Trish winning and then
whoever beats Trish will give them a much larger push.
And I think somebody like Trish Stratus I think you're
on the something because somebody, somebody like Trish Stratus.
Speaker 2 (42:23):
It's believable that she.
Speaker 1 (42:24):
Could come in and still win the title. Yes, like
she still looks like she's in phenomenal shape. She's definitely
in ring shape, even though she is she's a Hall
of Famer, right, yes, yeah, even though she's a Hall
of Famer and everything, she's not gonna be the only
one competing on this show. I think I think you
are on the something with Trish Stratus.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
Uh, but I don't think that WWE is going to
go that route.
Speaker 1 (42:51):
Okay, I think they're gonna give let Trish Stratus, give
Tiffany Stratton the rub. I'm going Stratton, Oh okay, even
though I agree that Tiffany Stratton's run has been very lackluster,
like I it's it's been boring.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
It's been very boring.
Speaker 1 (43:11):
And Tiffany Stratton's character in general, yes, it's kind of
it's kind of been a rehash of a rehash of
a rehash. But in a way, professional wrestling is that
in general. I mean, look at Rick Flair.
Speaker 2 (43:20):
I mean, with anything in life anymore, there are no
original ideas. There's really not, But you have to take
this played idea and make it your own. You have
to set yourself apart, and she hasn't for me.
Speaker 1 (43:33):
No, no, so still want to go Stratton though.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
All right, So this is what we have. I don't
know if this is in the main event. It may
be the main event for the Women's World Championship.
Speaker 1 (43:45):
Eo Skuy will be defending her title against.
Speaker 2 (43:48):
One Ria Ripley. Josh went with Ria Jason. You see,
it's hard for me to go against Rhea because I
really like Ria Ripley. Yeah, I think she is a
believable champ. Absolutely, I think she is a great worker.
But but there's a butt in there. This is kind
(44:11):
of a David and Goliath story. Yes, it's a David
and Goliath match. You have little little Eo against big Rhea. Yes,
I think EO is going to win because I think
it's going to show that EO deserves the title because
(44:34):
she didn't beat Rhea for it. Didn't Rhea get hurt?
I think so? Yeah, and then Live had the title
and Rhea never never got that title back, and I
don't think it's going to happen now. I think it
will happen maybe SummerSlam, But I think here, it's going
(44:56):
to be EO keeping it. It's going to be EO
keeping it. Okay, Okay, that's your choice, because I also
don't think they're going to change both women's titles on
the same show. That's true. So you so you think
that Trasha is going to win uh Stratton's title. Yes,
(45:18):
he is going to retain Yes, hmm interesting, interesting, I'm
going to rha really yeah, okay, I don't.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
I agree with you that they're not going to let
both titles lose both both title changes.
Speaker 2 (45:34):
Won the same show.
Speaker 1 (45:36):
I mean, in all honestly, part of me thinks that
they're not going to have any title changes or very little.
Speaker 2 (45:41):
They may not. Yeah, we may. We may be.
Speaker 1 (45:43):
Completely wrong on all of this, but I think that
even though I think Sky is fantastic, I don't think
that WWE has as much belief in her as they should.
Speaker 2 (46:00):
I think they have more belief in Rio.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
And Ria also pushes a lot of merchandise she does,
so to me, it only makes.
Speaker 2 (46:07):
Sense putting the belt on Rio. So that's gonna be
my final choice on that.
Speaker 1 (46:12):
Real quick, before we get to the main event, just
go ahead and give you a recap on all of
our predictions, Jay C Jane will be defending her NXT
Women's Championship against Jordan Grays. All three of us went
with Jordan Grace. The winner of this match, We'll go
on to face TNA will knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich
at TNA Slammiversary on July second in a winner takes
(46:34):
all match, then a fatal four way match for the
WWE Women's Tag Championship, The Judgment Day, where cal Rodriguez
and Roxane and Perez will be defending their title against
Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. Also Soul Ruka and Zaria
and the Kabuki Warriors Oscar and Kyrie sing in a
fatal four way match. Uh then the Evolution Battle Royal
(46:58):
for a Women's World Championship match at Class in Paris
on August thirty. First, Josh went with Stephanie Vaker, Jason
went with Paige. I went with Nicki Bella. Then no
Holds Barred match Jade Cargi versus Naomi. Josh and myself
both went with Naomi. Jason is not going to pick
(47:20):
against Jade Cargo.
Speaker 2 (47:22):
No, not at all.
Speaker 1 (47:23):
No triple threat match for the WWE a Women's Intercontinental Championship.
Becky Lynch will be defending her title against Bailey and
Lyra Valkyria. Jason and I both went with Becky. Josh
went with Bailey. Then Tiffany Stratton will be defending her
title against Trish Stratus. Josh and I both went with
(47:44):
Tiffany Stratton. Josh, I Mean, and Jason went with Trish Stratus.
And then for the Women's World Championship match, EO Sky
will be defending her title against Ria Ripley. Jason went
with EO Sky. Josh and I both went with Ria Ripley.
Let's pause real quick and shift gears to the main event.

time for the main event.

Speaker 2 (50:32):

never understand how these things go. Is it just the
very front row counts as front row.
Speaker 1 (50:45):

(51:26):
doing for their community.
Speaker 2 (51:27):
They didn't give a name to it. So I'm talking
here so I can do the voice. He's doing it
so he can get paid. Yes, I need to get paid.
I have to buy pizza. We'll be back. Take a
quick break and we will be back. A bunch of
bitchers once again. Here's Hollywood Jeff Petty.
Speaker 1 (52:00):
Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen to the grillround.
Speaker 2 (52:03):
I'm your host, Hollywood.
Speaker 1 (52:04):
Jeff Buddy joined herewith the reflection of perfection.
Speaker 2 (52:07):
Doctor Jason like, Doctor Jason likeing. It took me three
secondents to do it. It's okay. I'm not going to
be the type of person who's constantly reminding people that I,
Jason Likens have a doctorate. I'm not going to be
that kind of guy. And Ultimo Dragon ology. Yes, yes,
So do you have any any that you would like
to know about this week? Let's see real quick?
Speaker 4 (52:29):
Uh And essentially, so what it is is I can
tell you if they are or are not Ultimo Dragon.
Speaker 2 (52:39):
Yes, that is my doctorate. Yes, Nikki Bella not Ultimo Dragon. Okay,
Naomi not Old, not Oltimo Dragon. Swerve Strickling not Ultimo Dragon.
Hangman Adam Page, Now this one gets tricky. Not Ultimo Dragon.
Mercedes Monett not Ultimo Dragon, even though she's.
Speaker 1 (52:58):
Kind of going in that direction, but she'll never be
nobody will ever be Ultimo Dragon, holding like fifteen belts
at once.
Speaker 2 (53:05):
No, that was insane. Let's see. I think I got
I got one more for you. Where is it? It's
over here, Josh Cole not Ultimo Dragon. Okay, Okay, I'm
glad we cleared that up.
Speaker 3 (53:18):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (53:19):
But speaking of titles.
Speaker 1 (53:20):
Yes, speaking of titles, we've had quite a few title
changes this past week and this weekend, mainly on WWE
SmackDown This past Friday, the Wyatt Six, Dexter Loomis and
Joe Gacy defeated The Street Profits Angelo Dawkins and Montese
Ford to win the WWE Tag Team Championship.
Speaker 2 (53:39):
For the first time.
Speaker 1 (53:41):
This past Tuesday, at the Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling event,
there were a few title changes over DDT Pro Wrestling's
iron Man Heavy Metalweight Championship.
Speaker 2 (53:51):
Here here we go.
Speaker 1 (53:52):
First, Suzumi defeated Yoshihiko Asagawa in a twenty seven on
one handicap match close it was, which was also Hasigawa's
retirement match. Mazuki then pinned Suzumi, followed by a pin
from Mayu Watanabee, and then after the event ended, Watanabe
was struck by a plastic hammer named Piko Pico, which
(54:16):
fell on her, thus pinning her to win the title.
And finally, son Shiro Takage pinned Piko Pico after kicking
the hammer out of the referee's hand to be the
Ironman Heavy Metal Weight Champion. A few title changes at
aw all in due to the unfortunate news that Adam
(54:37):
Cole was injured and would be out indefinitely.
Speaker 2 (54:39):
We talked about that earlier this.
Speaker 1 (54:40):
Episode, the TNT Championship match became a four way for
the vacant title, where Dustin Rhodes defeated Daniel Garcia Semigavar
and Kl Fletcher to win his first singles title since
nineteen ninety nine, when he last won the WWF Intercontinental Championship.
This also makes Dustin a triple crown a triple champion,
(55:03):
as he also holds Roh's World Tag Team Championship and
World six Man Tag Team Championship. Also, Continental champion Kazusko
Okada defeated International champion Kenny Omega and a winner takes
All match to win the International Championship and become the
inaugural Unified Champion. So Okada is now a triple champion
(55:24):
in AEW as neither the Continental or International titles were
retired and the Unified Championship is recognized as its own title. Also,
since Okada won as the Continental Champion, the Unified Championship
will be contested under Continental rules in which no one
is allowed at ringside and outside interference is strictly prohibited.
(55:45):
And finally, Hangman Adam Page, the main character for AW,
defeated John Moxley in a brutal absolutely Brutal Texas Deathmatch
to win the AEW World Championship for a second time,
freeing the belt from the briefcase it's.
Speaker 2 (56:03):
Been in for the last nine months. So the belt
has been in the briefcase for nine months. Yes, so
the briefcase gave birth to a baby belt. Yes, Mozzle
mazzle tov. That's gonna do it for us, ladies and gentlemen.
