Speaker 2 (00:06):
Guitar Welcome to the show. I'm Miles and today I'm
going to tell you how to properly hold a guitar pick.
I'm going to start by saying that there's no truly
proper way to hold a guitar pick, but there are
arguably more convenient methods, and the most commonly top method
is to kind of curl your first finger and then

(00:29):
put the pick between your thumb and your first finger.
And this brings me to one of my favorite tips
for learning how to hold a guitar pick, which is
to get a thumb pick. Because the thumb pick solves
this problem for you. You put it on your thumb and
then it's very clear that what you need to do

(00:50):
is fold your first finger so that you can hold
on to that thumb pick. So that's one of the
best ways to learn how to properly hold your guitar
pick and other things to Other things to consider when
it comes to holding the guitar pick are anchoring your
hand or resting your hand on the bridge. Some people

(01:11):
like to anchor their pinky on the body of the guitar.
But you just want to rest your hand in order
to improve your picking accuracy and in order to eliminate energy.
You don't want to exhaust your picking hand. And that's it,
you know. Of course, this is easier to explain visually,

(01:33):
and I actually have a video about this on my
YouTube channel. But long story short, go ahead and buy
a Fred Kelly Bumblebee guitar pick. I'll have a link
to one in my description, and I hope you have
a good day. I'll catch you in the next episode.
