Welcome to the guitar Jet Podcast, where you'll skyrocket your knowledge of theory,
techniques, and fundamentals for guitar.Hey, they're fellow guitarist and welcome to
episode five of the Guitar Jet Podcast. I'm your host, Miles, and
today I'm going to tell you thebasic definition of our peggios, how to
construct minor and major arpeggios, andthe most popular techniques for playing our peggios.

(00:23):
I decided to make this episode becausemy two most recent YouTube videos on
the guitar Jet YouTube channel are allabout our peggios, and on top of
that, I just love our peggios. So so back and let me tell
you what our peggios are on theguitar. So, what the heck's and
our pegio? Well, it's abroken down chord. That means they'll play
the notes of the chord individually ratherthan in harmony, and doing this results

(00:44):
in in our peggio. They're usefulin almost every musical situation, including composing
melodies, improvising, writing and playingfast guitar solos and acoustic fingerstyle. On
top of this, learning our peggioswill help you visualize and understand your fret
and help you understand this further,I'll tell you how to build major and
minor r peggios, which are fundamentalto learn. So, the first and

(01:07):
easiest type of our peggio to learnis the major rpeggio. Major R peggio
contains a root, a major third, and a fifth. For example,
let's apply this to a C majorchord. The notes in the C major
chord are ce ng. When youplay those notes together, you're playing a
chord, But when you play thenotes individually, you'll play the C major
R peggio. And the next typeof our pegio you'll want to learn is

(01:32):
the minor R peggio. Minor arpegiocontains a route, minor third, and
a fifth. Basically, you're justtaking your major arpeggio and flattening your third.
For example, when applied to aC minor chord, you'll get the
notes C E flatten G, andonce again, when you play those notes
individually, you'll be playing the Cminor R pedgo. All right, now,

(01:55):
let's talk about the many techniques thatyou can use to play our peggios.
So first one is probably pretty obvious. Downstrokes. Downstrokes are a great
way to play our peggios if you'replaying them at a slow tempo. And
the second technique is alternate picking, which is a great technique to play all
sorts of different arpeggio shapes on guitar, and of course it's a must know

(02:15):
technique in general and can be appliedto almost everything you play on the guitar.
And the third technique is hammerons andpull offs. Hamerons and pull offs
are useful for playing one octave arpeggiosour peggios on single strings and two notes
per string our peggios. You'll generallycombine hammerons and pull offs with downstrokes and

(02:36):
upstrokes. The fourth technique is tapping. Tapping is the most iconic and fun
way to play our peggios and rockand roll, and it's a relatively easy
technique to learn, a difficult techniqueto master. All those little tapping licks
that you heard at a Van Halenplay are well, they're generally our peggios.
The fifth technique is sweet picking. This is the best way to play

(03:00):
our pegios that use one note perstring. It's similar to a strumming motion.
Is actually not too hard to learnif you're practicing the technique properly,
and the six technique is fingerstyle.Fingerstyle or petios are common, sound great,
and work especially well for acoustic guitars. Just know that finger style or
pedgios do not technically count as trueour peggios due to the fact that the

(03:23):
notes in a finger style or apedgio generally ring together rather than in harmony.
Or sorry, they ring together inharmony rather than ringing out individually.
That's what I mean to say.So now that you've learned what our peggios
are on guitar, go ahead andstart practicing. If you all, learn
some practical and easy arpeggio shapes andcheck out my recent video Guitar Ar Pedgios

(03:46):
for Beginners, where you'll learn sixdifferent arpeggio shapes. And if you like
tapping, check out my YouTube videoabout tapping our peggios, and definitely subscribe
to the guitar Jet podcast to learnabout to learn more about guitar theory,
learn more guitar tips, and learnmore guitar techniques. Thanks for tuning in,

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
