coolest way to play the major scalingguitar. This is gonna be a quick
lesson and it's accompanied by a freepost on my Patreon page. Just go

on top of that, the YouTubevideo this Thursday on the guitar Jet YouTube
channel is going to cover the samething, so you'll be able to learn
more there, and please remember tosubscribe to the podcast and leave us a

(00:42):
review. And let's dive right intoit. So the first way that the
first cool way to play the majorscaling guitar is with two dots per string.
So traditionally a lot of major scaleshapes are caged and they'll be like
they'll vary between two notes and threenotes on each string so that you can
stay in a single position. Now, the cool thing about playing two notes

(01:04):
per string major scales is the factthat you move horizontally and so it covers
a wide portion of the front board, and so that's what makes it cool.
It looks cool, and it's easyto execute, and it sounds awesome,
all right. The second coolest wayto play the major scale on guitar

(01:29):
is three notes per string. Sothree notes per string major scales are used
by a lot of incredible guitar players, including Paul Gilbert and Rick Graham.
Lots of incredible players use the threenotes per string system, and I definitely
recommend you learn it. You canfind the three notes per string major scale
tabs on my website as well ason the Patreon page. And what three

(01:55):
notes per string does is it takeseach degree of the major scale, because
there are seven degrees of the majorscale, and builds a three note string
pattern at each degree of the scale. So there are seven total shapes.
And if you work on those seventhree notes per string major scale shapes,
let's say just one a day fora week, then you'll have them down

(02:17):
probably after that week or after amonth, if you're doing the same thing
every week. They're really easy toget down and they'll really open up the
fretboard and help you understand how youcan visualize the major scale on the fretboard,
all right, And the third coolestway to play the major scale on
guitar is with a one octave shape, so by playing in octaves. Well,

(02:43):
if you don't know, an octaveis when you play the same note
at the next highest pitch, andso an octave shape will be where you
play your major scale on two stringsusing three notes on the first string and
four notes on the second string, which adds up to all seven degrees of
your major scale. Then just moveup to the next octave. So if
you were to do this with theroot note G, you'd start at the

(03:05):
third fret e, then go tothe fifth fret D and then to the
eighth fret beat and you'd be movingthis shape around in octaves and you'd use
the exact same finger structure at eachoctave. Piece of cake, right,
all right, and anyways, thoseare your three cool ways to play the
major scale on guitar. And thanksso much for listening to the show,

(03:30):
and I hope to catch you inthe next episode, and don't forget to
subscribe. Have a good dank

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
