wearing your sleep belts night so you can jump out
when it's appropriate. Wait a minute, because I'm not paying
attention to the road here, you'd.
Speaker 1 (01:20):

Speaker 3 (03:00):
I've got it right up into the next snap foo
And then I'm like, well, wouldn't be alive dream something?
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Listen Sunday's greatest It wasn't a snap fool, but you
know I learned about Sunday. Frank doesn't know how to
make pancakes. There was something he he messed up the
recipe and pancakes. Thank you. I dropped my cigar. It
takes a lot to draw. I mean, right, that was funny.
(03:28):
You're right.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
I mean I wish he was here right now. I
tell him, bark, it's not difficult. You know, you pour
out the mix, you mix it with water, you put
you know, you think, what did he get I missed it?
What did he get wrong?
Speaker 4 (03:45):
He added to what sugar, sugar, sugar, right, he makes
up the genes got sugar, so he ended up instead
of pancakes, he ended up making cookies.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
Only if you use beer or even dark beer. You've
used beer instead of water, it makes the pancakes much better.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
H The next time I go camping, I'm gonna have
to put that theory to the test. I don't know,
drink it instead of out that's wrong. You know, Take
some of that. Take take some of that.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
You know, craud beer that somebody brings, you know, mix
it in with some pancakes.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
It might actually make the and there's no alcohol in
the alcohol is going to cook off.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
It's just flavoring is all it is.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
But if you think about it, I'm like, you know
that that would probably be pretty.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Good, too shabby, especially like a peanut butter stuff. You
know what the secrets are. Flipping the pancake. You all
know what that is. Be impatient. No, You watch the
top of the pancake and when it has those little craters,
then you know it's time to turn it over. It's
nature's way of saying, flip me it. Really no, it's
(04:55):
like a little like like nooks and crannies. Like like
a Thomas.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
English Markets dark off his bubbles because he's bowling the batter.
And if I'm telling you, that's the only way I
like to have a pancake. You just throw a whole
spoonful of butter around that pancake and lit it deep
fry the edges that pancake.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Even everyone, welcome to the pancakes chat.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
When you guys come up here, clubhouse boys and Jason,
we got to do this. We got a place called
Christie's the pancake. I'm seriously not the same place down here.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
No no, no, no, no, no, sorry.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Different pancakes. This is okay, This this breakfast establishment. The
pancake is the size of a frisbee. I kid you not.
So you can't walk in there and say give me
a short stack. And the links are nice fresh pork
and you get you have your choice of a patty
or a pork. It's all fresh. It is incredible. M
(05:52):
matter of fact, more than I'm waking McDonald's. I think
I'm no man. McDonald's pancakes are not. I think I
rather have Frank. They make chance what they are. Well,
I've missed you, guys.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
I've been busy as I'll get out. I went to

Speaker 1 (06:25):

got the I got.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
I got a box from the folks over a pot
to power and they gave me this shirt and I
was like, I don't have a hat to match. And
I was like, wait a minute, my uh Formula one hat?
Speaker 5 (06:38):
Is that?
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Also that black cameo? So I am black cameoed out.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Let me tell you that shirt. I got one too,
and tell me if you guys agree. The material is incredible.
That is not no cheap old woven whatever. That is
some nice, nice material against your body.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
I'm just hoping it don't shrink, no mindn't I gotta
wash that.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
I want to ask three pounds making into two pounds sack.
I want to get to get a package.

I don't think Mike could even give his away at Hustbal.
He tried to get his away.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Yeah, I think he still got his. That's funny.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
So you went to Missouri, Shane, I did, went to
the job. I went to the Roots sixty six Balloon
and Kite Festival last weekend, second annual one.
Speaker 5 (09:37):
It was, it was, it was.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
I don't like that five and a half hour drive,
we will say that much, but it was good. You're from Texas, Sun,
that's nothing. Have you ever been Have you drove Highway
six through eastern Oklahoma?
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Yeah, that's how that road will beat you to death.
That road sucks. It's a terrible left length.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
It was a little I would rather just go to
Oklahoma City and cut across forty four. Well we do
that too. Yeah, that that road is terrible.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
I don't like people who ride in the left lane
without reason to the whole left lanes for passing only.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
I really think that's a camp.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
That should be a camouflaged T shirt because nobody can
see that sign. So but in on that road, I
ride in the left lane because all the trucks are
in the right lane and it's pitted to hell. Yeah,
so I do it out there. When somebody comes behind me,
I get over. But still, yeah, that that is a
sucker road. You're right, it's worse coming south. I think, oh,
absolutely worth coming home, worst coming home.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
But yeah, I was like when we left Jappela, I
was like, you know what, I'm just gonna stay on
forty four.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Go to Glawss City. That's that's the way. A couple hours.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
That's the way we went to UH to more Expo.
That that we drove up their shamp You want to
come back to that with this man.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Well, I need to stop getting paid for all these
balloon events.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
If you're getting paid for him, you should be able
to take more time off.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
That's right, works, But so.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
They always scheduled the time that they're going to pay
me when we're you're going to these other ports.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Watch you just ask. But but hold on, I.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Have a cabin for Huntsville next year.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Ah good, all right, good.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
So now we'll.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
See if it lasts. I was canceled, like, oh yeah,
I gotta go somewhere. But no, Joe Joe Brandt sent
me a message like if you call him, they're going
to rent you a cabin. So I called him and
she's like, yeah, just take a pick. Nobody's picked them
up yet, so I'm sure they're.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
All going now. Oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
Like the day that Joe Bratt checked in, he was like,
you better do it now.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
I was like, okay, so I so here's here's something
that we can talk about for the next year.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
So I was.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
I went and rented my camp sited at I've been
in the same spot for the last two or three years.
I went and rented it for next year, and Kyle
was next to me this year. He's been next to
me for the last couple of years. I think he
went went to rent his spot for next year, someone grabbed.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
It from him.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
He has to be two doors down from now. So
whoever's rented spot next to me, you are the subject
of pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
It was.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
Yeah, and yeah, so whoever, whoever snagged Kyle spot.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Yeah that's a plot because because when Kyle came here,
he was wearing pajamas and I didn't know if he
was going to walk in his sleep. If he does
that down in Monta Santal, Oh gosh, he just walks
around hugging his teddy bear.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Yeah yeah, that's not a teddy bear, that's his dog.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
But still.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
Pixie right, Yeah, they had a space gead for a moment.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
What's I don't want to call it like anyway, man.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Like crazy, man, it's time to retire. I'm telling you.
If you get to a certain number of years at
the place and age in your life and you start
saying life is two day, I'm sure and I don't
need this ship and take this job and shoving you
know all you know, all the analogies. Man, this week
was really pushing me to you know, I was like
(13:15):
getting ready to do some yoga and meditation and some
serenity now shit, because it was just getting ridiculous. So
I'm serious, man, It just but I did get to
play polo last week. I'm gonna try to do some
stuff tomorrow and Thursday, I haven't looked at band conditions.
That's how busy and crazy other things I priorities to
(13:37):
take care of what.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
It's been good the last two this whole week has
been good. I've had good luck on the band's one
day last week and two days this week.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
I've had good luck. The day I worked you, Jason, yeah,
about an hour later, all of a sudden, ten meters
started opening up and I worked this park, the park
down in Chili. It was just it blew me away.
I worked this guy over in the UK. So yeah,
and everything, I've been playing with this new q r
P s U m u QMX little q RP radio. Man, Uh,
(14:11):
it's all k A m r D's fault because you
watch one of his videos. You know, he's just he's
He's like one of the six guys that if you
want to if you need an alibi, you better come
up with something. So you know, Jason, I said, I
was never gonna get one hundred, one hundred wat ambry
hour battery watching your stuff. I got, so it happens.
But I'm having fun with this, with this, with this
little radio, and uh, I think it's gonna be I
(14:34):
think it's gonna be an excellent or has been an
excellent radio for the CW guys. It does FT eight yeah,
but now that it does side band for guys like me, Man,
I gotta tell you something. The true test was I
worked uh James k E A p Z and Ham
(14:55):
Radio Venture guys, and he always has a pile up,
so if you can get through him and he it's
obviously it's the two way street. Guys. We all know
how it is. Week q RP. I'm working it, you're
working it to receive it. I'm working at the transmitted.
But man, it really proved this off as well as
the antenna, the reliance Antanna that I was using.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
So just do guys, Just do an Izzo rant one
night when he won't answer you, and then from now
on he'll will answer you.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
Just do that. I've got a QMX. I haven't even
used it yet. I don't have.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Like like it came with. I bought one two years
ago at four days in May. Never put it together,
big surprise, right, So this year I bought one. I
bought one from and I'm like, I'm like, hey, can
can I get it assembled?
Speaker 2 (15:41):
And he goes, yeah, it'll take like a week.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
I'm like a.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
Week really like okay, So I bought one and like
six weeks later it.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Finally not a big deal.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
I think Mike waited six months for him, Yeah he did. Yeah, yeah,
he really ramped up production nud first. Yeah, but yeah,
mine was about four and a half months. And Jason,
when you apply power, just remember you can't use a
traditional bional battery because you need something less than So
I bought one of these little it looks like a ruler.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
It's a fifty five hundred million prey hour RC car
battery and eleven point eight volts snipped off the end
through some power poles on it, boom bing the guff.
And now and that that radio is happy, man, And
between the reliance antenna, between the school antenna. Man, I'm
telling you that the receiver on that thing is beautiful. Yes,
(16:30):
it's not a traditional you know waterfall what you know
signat No, no play around with things.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
I wanted to.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
I wanted to go in a little pack with the
little little tablet and that I can take out somewhere
and set up and do FTA.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
That's that's really why I.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
Want it, Joshua. Yes, I tried that I don't have
a scale here, and literally, when I tell you tomorrow
I have to go to the transfer station, I'm thinking
of throwing it in there and asking the guide away
way this and then subtract me in the truck and shit,
just just for giggles, I know I'm over a pound,
but I don't care. But it's but it's still Isn't
(17:09):
it fun?
Speaker 5 (17:09):
Though?
Speaker 1 (17:09):
Man? We are having so much fun with all these radios. Uh, hey, Jason,
I'm not sure you know what your agenda is for
the for the next you know, what do we are now?
Twenty eight days? But it's like we have so many
choices now. I don't remember this when I got licensed
back in nineteen eighty nine. I don't remember all of
these options. Maybe it was there, mabe, But you've got
(17:32):
multiple modes now, multiple radios, multiple antennas for everybody. Yes,
there's so many rabbit holes and we're man, we are
rocking it as a hobby. I am proud to say
I'm a ham radio operator.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
So I'm impressed that we're sitting here in the clubhouse
talking about Ham radio.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
Ye me too, and we're eighteen minutes yet.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Yeah, right.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
Now, I'm looking forward to using that Q and X
and taking it, you know, being something I can throw
in my backpack or my pot a pack or my.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
That might be like that. So that'll be a good
radio for high air balloon mobile. Yeah, we got to
do that.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
In fact, In fact, Shane, I don't know if I've
told you about this project.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
I'm working on this point. You have, not sure I have.
That's why I'm here tonight.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
But get that always trying to skip me.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
Yeah, my turn? Yet it was your turn when you
were up top earlier. Also, so I don't know what
you complained about.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
Man, I ain't been doing so, y'all son of guns
in this messtastic crap. Like, I'm gonna tell you my
personal personal is You's finna get a Joe bread. That's
what the crowd wanted, right, people asked. When people ask
me about mess Tastic, I'm like, I mean it's a thing, right, Well,
(19:00):
what does it do? It sends freaking text messages. I
don't I don't know what else to tell you. Why
do I want it? I don't know, because other people
want it.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
I don't know. That's why you haven't seen it.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Do videos.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
I'm not an ambassador of fanstastic yet, but I'm getting
a little more interested, Like I don't.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (19:19):
I'm not getting more interested in it, but I'm trying
to do my part for the people that might so
because there's no coverage here around Boomdock, Mississippi.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
And yeah, so I've been.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
I've been trying to uh this thing.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
So I sit there.
Speaker 4 (19:46):
I was sitting there on Amazon other day and I
was like, I need to find me a weatherproof box,
you know, and I can put my healtech up on
the tower because to do a repeater, you don't do
a repeater. You keep in client mode, right, and it
does its thing. It's smart enough to do its thing.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Did you give yourself your own affiliate link?
Speaker 4 (20:06):
Not not yet, because I don't. So this is in
true Joe Bret Joe Brett Fashion. Let me slow down
my words here a minute. I totally spent no money
on this latest little project because it was crap I
had laid around the house and I was thinking, I
need solar to keep it because if I'm gonna put
(20:29):
it forty feet up on the tower, I don't I
don't need more electrical lines going up the tower, creating
more noise than my antenna. So I had these little
little solar lights, a little cheap little solar lights. Yeah yeah,
so all right, so I popped the light out of it.
(20:51):
Don't need that no more, but I got I got
it wired up up in there.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
Not going to show you the rest of it.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
This guy's a hem uh so he needs to do
a videos.
Speaker 4 (21:06):
Gonna coming straight out the box. There ain't no dad
gum coact. Look if you've ever seen my hell Tech
in my huge little gray case that I carry around
because it's got a dj I Matt mctree's three hundred
battery in it. That that's the case. That's the helltick right,
And I just I got it mounted street and see
(21:26):
the antenna, yes right direct Nick.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
There ain't no jumpers in this project.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
So look this ain't here right here, This is that zero.
Look at this bread and butter. So that solar panel
right has a has a little cheap three point seven
battery in it, and it's got to have some type
of solar charge there. There's the circuit board out of
that wire directly to the battery that runs into there.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
That's do you do a video on this?
Speaker 4 (21:52):
No? No, no, this is right. This is all the
videos you're gonna get right here from the club house.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
She would end up stealing the thumbnail for him.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
I've been so worried about this thing catching on fire.
At least it's forty foot there, so I needed something
to keep it standing up.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
I stood it up.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
At first, I had it laid flat, but then I
had trouble getting my USB cable in on this side
when it was going that way, because there you go.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
Because they're all it's called a gramet so.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
The screens on this side. So it needed to lay God,
this is all backwards. It needed late this way. And
then I didn't have room for my USB cable and
so yeah, so I stood it up and I took
a couple of screws on each side to keep it
standing up.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Ain't that nice? And hang on?
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Uh So anyway the box, let's get back to the box.
I was on Amazon and I said, look weather proof.
Uh teld me about it's got that double lift on it.
Don't even need to gasp.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
Those holes in the back went all the way through.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
Oh yeah, I need to putty of those up. There's
a couple that go all the way. There's a couple
to go on with it.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
We'll figure it's like what we do for It's like
what we do to check for a tire, to see
if a tire has.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
That's why, that's why I brought it in. One to
charge it because the little solar thing ain't keeping up
with a charge. And two is supposed to rain overnight,
so swine brought it in. But anyway, this is gonna
be like a repeater. And but let me get back
to the story about still a camera that don't freeze
up so much. Get back to the story about needing
the weather proof box. And I'm on Amazon looking at
(23:32):
these from five dollars to twenty something dollars, and I
couldn't make up my mind.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
What I broke it.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
Sorry, I broke what I wanted. And I got to thinking.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
I was like, wait a minute, remember the cable, television
and internet you cut off like twenty years ago. Yeah,
that box is still on the back of the house. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
So I got my power.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
Drill out and we took it off the house, repurposed it.
I had a free by the whole time, that whole
project costs me no more than what I already have
invested years ago.
Speaker 2 (24:07):
I'm telling you that is the most creative story. If
you if you're gonna ham, if you're gonna ham, call
it hamm it ham it up, that it up.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
What you need to do is create a video. I
know you don't like to do this. Okay, you need
to make a video and you need to call it
your four cent mestastic device. There you go, because that's
what you spent on. It's four cents.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Or how to repurpose the box, charge the cordless thrill,
how to take how to take your your old internet
box and make it into a mesh tastic box with
the seller charger from the garden lights that no longer work.
I really hated, I really hate.
Speaker 4 (24:50):
I really hated the Frankenstein solar light because like it's
still flashed when you walk past it, so when you
only when you walk back, Yeah, it didn't stay on.
It just flashed like pop Rizzi or something.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
And because your energy of your all that JB energy,
that JB energy.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
Your names every time he walks by.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
It was it was kind of a thing that me
and the light had, you know, all all the other
lights when they quit, they just quit this one.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
No, it kept saying.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
Little the life, little light that tried, little.
Speaker 6 (25:25):
Little life that could, little light that could. If you think,
you will, you will you think where there's a way.
My goodness, that's what I've been record this.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
So like this should have been an Internet gold is
what this would have been if so many. I mean,
letting it start all over and just film it.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
It's gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
Just clip it out of this live stream.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
There you already show tell you told me you didn't
want to go on one of Jason or someone else's
affiliate links from Amazon and let them get a couple
of pennies for some of the brand new I.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
Remember where I like, I don't know where I ordered
the hell tech from and I three three D print
of the case and I stole the battery. What affiliate
lak are you talking about? I stole the durned case
from the cable company.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
I will tell them, Jason, thanks for the ninety nine
per cent supersticker.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
I think the statue of limitations has run out on that.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
But they don't want they don't want to. It's like
the satellite company. They just want to box back. They
don't want to dish.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
They leave the rest of the ship on your house.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
Yeah, the old house I used to rent, Like the
first house I moved out into the dish is still there.
I won't every time I drive past it, I'm like,
you know how to stop and take that?
Speaker 2 (26:50):
I mean, what the what the L and b's the
little front thing? Those those are worth some money.
Speaker 4 (26:56):
I ain't worried about that. But you can make a
great two meters slot into an item.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
Hmm. Everything has a value to the right buyer, exactly.
That's true. Well to talk, So there you go.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Congratulations man, fantastic. I'm ready to take Tonics member before months.
And that is a great segue.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
Well before you segue, I'll finished with like what my
gold was here? Is po to power? Was it Huntsville?
So it was good to have power at Huntble. I
believe it was their first Huntsful And uh Vong had
a box full of stuff he was going to sell.
And of course, you know, if you're up on the mountain,
usually get first divs and stuff for the show before.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
It makes it to the show.
Speaker 4 (27:33):
And he had showed me some of the goodies in
his box, you know, And he had this little mestastic
thing and I'd already been kind of talking with Dave
about holding one of those little credit card size with
T one thousand you call it and uh bom whips
out this mestastic things got a like a four inch
screen on it, right, touch screen association.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
Yeah, that a miss a mesh test. That's the team
of one thousand and he was just talking about. I
thought it was a cassette tape around radio. This This
is my eed C. I carry this with me every day, Yeah,
until until I carry Yeah, because you don't watch my video, Shane.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
So I ended up. I set the one I bought
from Vong. I set up because it's a desktop model.
It ain't no battery nothing. It's made to be plugged in,
sit on the desk. But I'm on the third floor
of the office. I've set it up on the office.
Of course, we don't own the building, so I can't
get on the roof for nothing. But I mean good.
It's like a forty minute drive to the office, which
(28:36):
I don't know what way the crow flies, I mean miles.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
I ain't measured that.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
But I said, how cool would it be if I
could get a signal ping from the office from my tower.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
It's called the y Yeah, did you get one?
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (28:52):
Absolutely not okay, but but there's another there's another guy
close to my office that I know, and he's putting
up a tower, and he's going to be putting one
up on his tower, so maybe we could get things
between each other on mam.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
It's like the old pack It's like the old AX
twenty five packet days, thank you. If I couldn't get
if I couldn't get this somewhere, I would find somebody
and ping through them. And it's so different than that.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
Yeah, alls, you can send text messages.
Speaker 4 (29:20):
Well, look, there's some other stuff to it, if you'll
If you go into some of the Mestastic channels on Discord,
you'll see people come up with like bulletin board services
and the fort We hadtspots services in nineteen eighty.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Six, not over Mestastic. You didn't, No, we didn't.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
You had to You had to dial in and put
the phone on the motoot and six megahurts channel.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
The thing about Nastastic is it's all independent of the Internet,
or it's supposed to be.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
You can connect it to the Internet, so.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
You're creating your own networks, right right, that's the explanation.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
Breathe from the man. It's an off grid internet, so
an off grid text messaging service. See.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
I was hoping the young in the beach area this summer,
we're gonna get interested in that. They they looked at
me like I was just old, and yeah, that's exactly
that's exactly what they said. By said, but this is cool, though,
this is cool.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
But you gotta this is like you gotta harvest all
the guts out of your mom's like lawn ship so
that you can make this work.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
I told them to go down the street and just
rip the boxy cable box off of someone's house.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
But you know, ultimately, what it is is another gateway
for us to introduce people.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
It is a serious it is. It really is, and
that's what's important.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
Speaking of gateway, Jason.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
Welcome to the show.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Hey, welcome to Jason. We just kind of just brought
you in as you've been here for every today. You
got something going on, you wanted to chit chat about.
You got a YouTube channel, so yeah, what are we
talking about tonight?
Speaker 1 (31:06):
All of that.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
I've got all of that, So no mestastic is it
can be fun. So I look forward to seeing more
people on it. There's nobody on the island on meshtastic,
so because I checked that last time I was here.
So today's September second, two days ago, yesterday, yesterday, one
day ago.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
Yeah, I've done. I've posted two videos, so it's two
days for me.
Speaker 3 (31:27):
I started a program that I'm calling thirty Days of
hamm Radio where I'm making a new video every day
this month and uh and making it and posting it,
posting a new video every day about something different inside
of ham Radio, something we do. In other words, all
the videos are different a lot of this, Like my
first one was Poda because it's Poda, Mean, why we
(31:48):
should do the first video about Poda the greatest thing
to happen to Ham Radio in the last ten years.
But yep, uh yeah, today's today's video was about all Star.
I got my All Star system up and running a lot.
I talked to a lot of you wanted over the
last few days. But yeah, thirty days of ham Radio
and we're doing this to benefit the Teachers Institute from
a double L. If you go to a DOUBLEL dot
(32:09):
org bard slash thirty days, you will see. In fact,
I could share this if if I can, you should
be able to if I can screen share here window
there and there right there, and yep, that's it. So
you'll see that if you go to ablel dot org
forward slash thirty days, you can sit down here and
(32:31):
see that we are they built this page for me.
Obviously we put my logo on it. You can donate
any amount you want to right here. You can dedicate
the gift, you can acknowledge how can we acknowledge you
donate the donation made by You can do it anonymously
if you choose to, and does your employer match gifts.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
That's a good idea there.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
So, but all of this is going to benefit Teachers Institute.
I set a goal of thirty thousand dollars over the
next thirty days, starting yesterday. Mike did a really fun
live stream two years ago and raised fifteen thousand dollars
in one night, totally cow, and Josh did the Josh
did the same kind of thing last year and raised
(33:14):
twenty thousand dollars in one night on a live stream.
So I'm like thirty days to be thirty grand after
these two guys did fifteen and twenty and one night.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
I don't think that's too far out there.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
So yeah, no kidding, We're I.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
Can link in the chat. So if you guys are
in there, yeah, thank you could jump.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
In on that.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
But it's something I'm doing that. And I contacted Data
Bore at all about this, Steve good game and uh
and Kevin be all over there, who's the donations coordinator,
and he and I told him, I said, hey, this
is what I want to do.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
And they love the idea.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
They're like, this is a fantastic idea.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
So we got on zoom calls together two three times
over the last month and just doing a plan out.
Kevin sends me an email every morning with the updated
counts and how much how much we've raised so far.
As of this morning, we're at about eight hundred and
ten dollars from about I think ten or twelve different.
Speaker 2 (34:05):
Donors something like that. So it's going well.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
It's starting slow, well considering that I've been advertising it
for about five or six days, but realistically we just
started yesterday, so in two days a little bit more
than two days really, but in kind of two days
since the live stream on Sunday night, since the Happy
Hour livestream on Sunday Sunday night, really, we've raised about
eight hundred dollars, so I'm hoping that it gets going
more and more and more. And the kicker is this,
(34:32):
I told everybody in my first video, Okay, I will donate.
I will personally donate a dime for every new subscriber
I get on my channel during this thirty days, and
I will donate one hundred dollars for every video thirty videos,
every video that reaches ten thousand views within this thirty days.
(34:53):
So if all thirty videos reach ten thousand views or more,
that's three grand that I'll donate myself.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
So I'm doing a donation right now. It's good to do.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
That had distracted here, but but that's the that's that's
the thing, that's what we're doing. I'm going to try
to make that work. And so far it's going really good.
Got some really really good feedback in the comment section,
feedback from emails, folks on the on the on the
Discord server, but also on the All Star system, really
good feedback. So it's going to be a fun event.
(35:24):
And by the time thirty days is up and I
recorded and posted a new video every day for the
last month, I'll probably want to.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Sleep for a week. But that's a lot of editing.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
Yeah, I don't do editing, that's right.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (35:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
I contacted my editor guy and I'm like, I kind
of want to do this, and he's like, yeah, I
could do that for you.
Speaker 1 (35:44):
I'm like, yeah, right, I thought about that today.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Things I did because I'm like.
Speaker 4 (35:50):
When I when I was watching today's episode, I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
But that's what we're doing, man.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
So I wanted to I wanted to make the announcement
or I wanted to come out of y'all's channel and
talk about it because just because of the cool audience
that you guys have every week, so I appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
Let me let me pitch it on here. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
So we got links to the donation, links to your channel.
I hope, uh maybe we throw some subscribers your way
and help you grow your channel.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
There.
Speaker 4 (36:21):
You know it's y'all, go support Jason Dolls great content too,
help his channel grow. Let's get him over one thousand tonight.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
You know what Jeff was on that. Jeff was like, Kate,
I could finish this this donation.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
Kate three j r Z.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
He was on the half Yard the other night and
like the day prior to that, he was talking about
trying to get over two thousand subs, and I completely
forgot to bring it up, so I hope he made that.
But yeah, if I get you know, I'm at like
one hundred ninety one thousand right now, so fingers crossed.
If I get ten thousand subs in the next thirty days,
and that's another thousand dollars because a dime per sub,
(36:59):
and that'll put over two hundred. When we hit two hundred,
we got to do another giveaway of an eight TEP radio.
So it's gonna benefit you guys too.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
Hey, three j or Z is a two thousand or
two point and zero one.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
Okay, okay, good, Yeah, I was thinking that he made it.
Good deal, all right. My donation has been oh not.
Speaker 1 (37:19):
That GM really, Hey, guys, Dave, Dave just did some
great math here. We have a one hundred and thirty
nine people watching. If if y'all just give ten bucks,
just ten bucks, that's that's that's just a little shy
of fourteen hundred, just tonight, just tonight.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
I just mine mine was ten bucks. I put ten
dollars in there, So there you go. If the rest
of you guys can do the same, that'd be awesome.
It's true, it's good and it gets you know, right,
it up.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
If you want to talk about you know, he maybe
he's been on your channel already. But have you guys
had KB five U T Y Dave on the channel yet?
I don't think you guys want to talk about mestastic.
Get Dave on here. Sorry, he's the uh you met him?
Oh yeah, Huntsville, Joe. But I guess that's the other
list streams of saying him own. I thought he was
(38:12):
on here too.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
You never know.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
I mean this is show number two hundred and thirty one,
so he might have been on in the past, but yeah,
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
So anyway, he represents Seed Studios and they make some
really cool devices. So in fact, if that device that's
on your desk, Joe Brett, I'm guessing that's a Seed
Studio that I forget what they call it, but it's
the one with the screen in the big Yeah. Yeah,
I forget what they call it. But that's uh yeah,
me too, But that's a Seed Studio device. So yeah,
you guys, invite him on. He'll talk to you about
(38:43):
mestastic all night. They got a really cool he's down
here in San Antonio or just a south southwest of
San Antonio, if I'm not mistaken, in Texas, and they've
got a good aris group down there that's put up
a bunch of mestastic stuff and built out a really
cool net work.
Speaker 1 (39:00):
So hey, guys, why don't we do this? Can we
take all of the super chaps we get tonight? Have beer, snack?
Just write a check. Oh he's gonna get mad at
a well good good, I'm glad I said it. Then, yeah,
I'm alright with that. So yeah, but it all fairness.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
All if you sent in a super chat or supersticker tonight,
we'll donate all of that to the education Fund.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
But here's the thing, though, I understand YouTube is going
to take its cut, so I rather have you guys
go directly to the link that Jason posted, will post
it again? Yeah, six or one way? You know, Yeah, yep,
that'll work. Sports you guess here's the link a few
more times. Appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
So, so, what's what's like the next five videos have
you found? Do you have a list of like what
you're gonna make?
Speaker 3 (39:48):
I do have a list, and I'm actually I'm actually
about four days ahead.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
So posted day two today.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
I'm sure your editor appreciates that. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
Yeah, And and I recorded day six today, So I
posted Day two today and I recorded Day six today.
So oh, by the way, those of you who are
Patreon members or YouTube channel members on my channel get
all of this shared early. So I'm posting about I
posted day I posted Day two and three yesterday. So
(40:20):
Day two went live today to the public. Day three
will go live tomorrow. I will probably post Day four
to the to the channel members tonight, but I'm trying
to stay one to two days ahead on that as well.
So if you're a YouTube channel member or a Patreon member,
you get that posted early as well.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
So, yeah, is youre a method? Is there a method
to your thirty? Are you saying have you like back
in August, did you say I want to put some
on a screw up this word myth. I'm gonna think
about what kind of flow of like I want. Today
we're going to talk about a little about some HF stuff.
Speaker 3 (40:55):
Not really what what I did was, I just brainstormed
the list of things and I came up like fi
the ideas, and then I looked at the calendar and
I said, Okay, the Texas q SOO party happens to
be this month. Just kind of worked out that way.
So I'm like, okay, I could do qu so party here.
There's a couple other events. I do this event here,
at this event here, this is, and just kind of
kind of meshed it in together to where I finally
(41:16):
had a schedule, and there's there's like I don't know,
there's four or five six days that are kind of
fluid and I might kind of change around something. In fact,
I changed a couple of days this week, and uh,
just kind of because I discovered something else and wanted
(41:37):
to go and do something else. So I kind of
I'm kind of pivoting a little bit. But I mean
I've got I mean, I've got plenty of content. But
ten thousand foot VHF antenna from a balloon would be
a cool thing, Shane, that.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
Would be really really cool.
Speaker 3 (41:54):
Ten thousand feet we're not I don't know how. I
don't know how high up you go. I know, you
think about five hundred foot. I gont nose bleed.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
Carlos goes to fourteen thousand feet.
Speaker 1 (42:03):
I know that much. So we don't.
Speaker 2 (42:04):
I mean, I've been to ten thousand and balloon. But
what's the what is the standard height.
Speaker 1 (42:10):
In our area?
Speaker 2 (42:11):
You know, three three thy fifteen hundred thousand foot still
just tallerant Yeah, right, absolutely plenty. I wonder I'm trying
to think what I've got coming up in the next oh,
September October, remember like the busiest months for us, And
I'm trying to think if there's a event that we
(42:32):
have coming up, that we could just put the balloon
on a tether like one hundred feet and then, uh,
then we don't have to worry about going anywhere.
Speaker 1 (42:40):
So we'll think about that.
Speaker 3 (42:42):
Well, it need to be this month because I need
to record and post it this month if we do
it for this project. If not, it'd be a cool
video on its own.
Speaker 1 (42:49):
Yeah. Absolutely, and we talked about that before.
Speaker 2 (42:52):
I still think the PODA activation from a balloon would
be the best.
Speaker 3 (42:55):
It'd be awesome if you were here at the ground.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
I just take the balloon out there. They don't even
know where.
Speaker 1 (43:03):
I'll think, you guys gotta go over a park and
call park the park. Oh that's good.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
I mean we could probably get somebody. If someone's over
at Spring Creek, we can probably get parked.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
Apart from Decatur over at the Oh yeah, let'hould be
pretty easy. Yeah, you can get at Cedar Hill also. Yeah, absolutely,
all right, so let's knock these out right quick.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
Uh for got that one day, even for six months,
Thank you so much, Tortoiseevel got that one Lee all right.
Jason with the ninety nine cents Hamory, he.
Speaker 3 (43:37):
Would take Tonic for the films. Scrolling, I'm scrolling, I'm scrolling.
Speaker 2 (43:43):
Ben Williams thirty three months, taking so much, Blue Boy
of the nine ninety nine Supersticker. Thank you blanks again,
nine nine superstick I appreciate that. Jeff with a ten
dollars super chet. Phil with the five dollars, Thank you
so much. It's all on my Google play again, interstar
Starman with the twenty dollars nights in and super chat.
We'll make sure that the beer snack if he's watched tonight,
(44:06):
anything that comes in tonight get sent over to the
link provided in the chat.
Speaker 1 (44:11):
So get that out.
Speaker 2 (44:13):
Thank you guys, and hopefully some of you are donating
directly from the to the event like I did.
Speaker 1 (44:19):
Well and then I got to talk.
Speaker 4 (44:20):
Well, we got a chance here about Paul says he
got banned from chatting on the I saw that, so
what and I was like, man, that must have been
a heck of a night for him, right, and then
one of the guys would live free in him says Nope,
it was because he was being nice, and Jason thought
it was someone impersonating.
Speaker 2 (44:48):
Yeah, I don't know, man, See.
Speaker 1 (44:50):
What happens when you're not being yourself.
Speaker 3 (44:55):
I'm gonna go, I'm gonna I'm looking that up right
now because I think somewhere in here you can go
in here and you can see give that.
Speaker 1 (45:02):
Man a list of the list of power.
Speaker 2 (45:05):
Thanks for the two supersticker, appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (45:10):
So I got the shirt on, so you know. Oh yeah,
if you guys are here from the beginning to do well,
thanks for thanks for letting me shout that out, guys.
Speaker 4 (45:21):
I look forward to seeing some more. So far, the
first two has been pretty interesting.
Speaker 1 (45:26):
Pretty interesting.
Speaker 4 (45:27):
Yeah, I've watched them and clicked the light button on
both of them.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
Holy cow.
Speaker 2 (45:34):
Yeah, you got some some interaction with Joe Bray.
Speaker 1 (45:38):
So, Jason, what are you thinking of that? Of that
of that new yea as you know you've had it out.
Speaker 3 (45:44):
I did a park activation with that today again for
the second time.
Speaker 1 (45:48):
Okay, and my god, what do you think just overall
value options receiver, you know, all the all the all.
Speaker 2 (45:57):
The the F one FTX one.
Speaker 3 (46:01):
I do have the optima, so I have one hundred
white amp on it.
Speaker 1 (46:05):
It.
Speaker 3 (46:06):
The receiver on that thing is not nearly as good
as the ftd X ten really Okay?
Speaker 1 (46:13):
No, and uh, you know I haven't.
Speaker 2 (46:19):
I haven't done a side by side.
Speaker 3 (46:20):
I haven't had my seventy three hundred out in a while,
so I haven't done a side by side yet.
Speaker 1 (46:27):
But I because we're talking older techno, older maybe SDR
early SDR where we are today.
Speaker 3 (46:36):
Correct, Yes, So I I mean it's got more features
than the FTX ten is because it's got all mode
two seventy centimeter, it's got a PRS, it's got you know,
you can separate it.
Speaker 2 (46:47):
If that's your thing, I am going to put mine.
Speaker 3 (46:51):
So, so Yas is coming out with those separation cables
that they said they would never do, right.
Speaker 1 (46:54):
If they said they were.
Speaker 3 (46:55):
Yeah, and ADR co Ax is also working on a
set of those. I've traded some emails with Chuck this
week about that, and they're doing two different versions. They're
doing a version that's just the separation cable, and they're
doing a second version that will have a tarcule controller
cable coming off. That's what I've got absolutely, So I
(47:15):
want to take I want to take my ts F
eighty for a d h X out of the truck,
and I want to put that Yazu in the truck
once I get a set of separation cables so that
I can put the head.
Speaker 1 (47:24):
Up here and put the optimum behind the seat. So
we'll see what they.
Speaker 2 (47:28):
Might get confused which one, No, I.
Speaker 3 (47:33):
Will not, but but I'm going to try that and
see see what happens with that. But yeah, that the
receiver in uh, the receiver in in the ftd X
ten is so much better really so.
Speaker 2 (47:46):
Yeah, So now whenever, whenever it finally arrives, we're gonna
have to do a radio off between the seventy three
mark two.
Speaker 1 (47:56):
One. Yeah, yeah, yeah, because next year I'm presumed by
are you getting one? You're making the money, all that
balloon money. What are you gonna do with that bull?
Buy a bigger balloon? Just keep this one up, right?
Don't you want to buy another radio that you could
test off the shellgate?
Speaker 3 (48:19):
Geez Frank says, the one I won't hold a candle
to the seventy three hundred. I can tell you what
it doesn't do that the seventy three hundred will do.
Is that that constant ov flight that blinks?
Speaker 1 (48:30):
It doesn't do that.
Speaker 4 (48:32):
I can't tell you, Like I am well, I started
out being yeah, how about that?
Speaker 1 (48:39):
I ended up?
Speaker 3 (48:40):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (48:41):
I started out being a Kinwood fan boy. If they
if they would have kept up, I probably would have
stuck with them. But so I'm I'm my I com guy.
This my shack's got I com my mobile. My mobile
rigs are all yazus because the a prs, the and
the athos and all that. But I did notice when
I took at in. This is also like comparing the
(49:03):
seventy three hundred with the FTX. You're talking about decades
of difference than technology, right, Uh so I took my yeah,
eight decade. Yeah, I'm sorry, did mean to pluralize that,
But I noticed when I took my I Com eight
eighty out and put the FtM five hundred in, I
was like, damn, this thing is sensitive. Like I'm picking
(49:25):
up stuff that the eight eighty wouldn't really pick up,
as far as repeaters and stuff. I knew their distance
and everything, and I knew where usually I had to
be at geographically with the eight eighty to pick them up,
and and the five hundred was pulling them in so
I could tell the difference in the receiver on it.
Speaker 1 (49:47):
I don't know, man, I'm still I wonder.
Speaker 2 (49:48):
If I will pay me to drop test to seventy
three hundred mark too.
Speaker 4 (49:52):
No, as Carlos true, welcome Steve.
Speaker 8 (50:00):
Isn't that tonight? That was the book reading? Oh new
office worse? Yeah, anyway, the new what cover new officers
took over.
Speaker 2 (50:09):
So were you finally like not doing that control anymore?
Speaker 8 (50:13):
No, No, you're still doing that control. No, he's a
grand I am not a treasure treasure.
Speaker 4 (50:21):
And the treasure has to do net control and the
books on Tuesday nights.
Speaker 1 (50:25):
Right, Absolutely, you knew you were going to get ribbed.
Speaker 8 (50:31):
Oh I don't though, Yeah, what are you going for?
Stay off the clubhouse, stay off the sauce?
Speaker 7 (50:37):
Right?
Speaker 5 (50:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (50:42):
But yeah, the uh somebody said that I would, Oh
Frank in the chat, he's like, he's like the ft
X one will hold a candle to seventy three hundred.
I'm not sure. I I'm not sure. I agree with that,
but it would be a good test. And I'm very much.
Speaker 1 (50:56):
Looking forward to that mark to seventy three hundred so
that if it's not two thousand dollars, I might get what.
Speaker 3 (51:04):
It probably will be. Because when the seventy three hundred
was brand new, it was fourteen ninety nine, right right,
and that was it date they released it at Dayton
one year and they told and I've got this firstthand
knowledge from one of the retailers, not gigaparts, that they
icon said, please don't sell this blow fourteen ninety nine.
Speaker 2 (51:21):
Don't cut the price on it.
Speaker 7 (51:23):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (51:23):
So everyone, as far as I know, no one cut
the price on it, and everyone sold out.
Speaker 1 (51:27):
They were gone.
Speaker 2 (51:29):
So I mean, I could see fifteen hundred bucks. But man,
if you starts setting in that two thousand.
Speaker 4 (51:33):
Mark, yeah yeah, you had to think about electronics.
Speaker 2 (51:38):
Man, they've all gone up.
Speaker 1 (51:39):
Yeah, everything's high right now. So the.
Speaker 3 (51:46):
I think that I think if it has because the
seventy six to ten has an excellent receiver. Of course,
it's you know, it's a thirty five hundred dollars radio,
so it's it's in another tier of radios, right.
Speaker 1 (51:58):
So but if it.
Speaker 3 (51:59):
Has like if y Yazu took Yasu took the UH
the fifteen hundred dollars ft d X ten and created
the FT seven ten, which is sub one thousand, and
it has almost as good as a receiver. And the
ftd x ten is actually almost as good as the
one to one D which is thirty thirty thirty four
(52:20):
hundred bucks. Also it's in the class same class as
the seventy six to ten. So if they can do it,
yes you did. And they said they're going to take
the receiver out of their top tier radio and maybe
take a couple of filters out of it, but put
it in their bottom tier radio, then I mean that
that would be freaking awesome.
Speaker 7 (52:37):
That.
Speaker 4 (52:37):
Yeah, the Landport has me. So that's got me excited.
When I seen the Landport, Yeah, I was like, all
this money I spent on SDR control.
Speaker 3 (52:49):
Yeah, and I've got you were talking about being a
kin With guy or an icon guy, Joe Brett, and
you know, I used to tell people I was an
Icon guy, and then I said I was a Yazu
guy and Netflex radio. I'd like to think these days
I'm more agnostic than that. I don't really care who
makes it. If it's a good radio, right, I'm going
to add it to my collection.
Speaker 2 (53:10):
So yeah, so you're saying baffing it is, Yeah, I
just I did think.
Speaker 4 (53:16):
I did think it was funny how I ended up
with my primary radio is in the shack, rah chef
and two meters and stuff. It's that coon in the truck.
It turned out to be yazus. So I mean, let's
just go show the personal needs and won'ts right of radio.
Speaker 2 (53:32):
I mean, I'm really looking forward to that fifty two hundred.
Speaker 3 (53:36):
Also, I have a fifty one the truck that's been
there for five or six years, and that that's a
great radio.
Speaker 1 (53:42):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (53:42):
The only thing about the only thing about that radio
I don't like is it doesn't have pay pure s.
It's okay, but you know, it's an icon. It's not
going to have APRS. But that fifty two hundred looks
pretty slick. So I'm looking forward to that one too.
Speaker 1 (54:00):
I'm sorry, go ahead, Well, like you, I just installed
a fifty one hundred with like zero hours that was
sitting downstairs in the shack, so I put that in
the brand new truck. Then the fifty two hundred comes up.
I think I'll bear it for how I'm using.
Speaker 5 (54:13):
It, but.
Speaker 1 (54:16):
I'm gonna say something here that listen, I'm not meaning
to stir the ship pot or at all, but of
course I think, okay, I'm gonna start a ship pop.
Of course you you take, you take two radios? Okay, No, no,
I'm just trying to apply I'm gonna try to play
logic here in common sense. You take two good radios.
(54:37):
They're all good radios. I think at the end of
the day, it's gonna come down to propagation, feed line
and your antenna. I really really do now, and and
and then I'm gonna challenge someone to say, what is
the difference between a five to five and a five six?
Or there's a difference between a five to five and
a five nine. We all know that. But when we
start splitting hairs over that half an ass unit, is
(55:01):
it worth it? Guys? Are we spending too much time
and we're forgetting about the f u n of of
getting out there and operating, whether you feel portable, whether
you're in the house, whatever. Are we worrying too much?
And listen, get the best radio you can for your money.
You're not gonna do wrong. You're not gonna do it.
(55:22):
You're not gonna go wrong. I rather leave it up
to the companies to you know, pay a third party,
go up to the league, Go call smoking ape, go
you know, smoking ape in his laboratory. He can do
all the spectral testing he can and want. And that's great.
And I'll watch the video like everybody else by thinking,
like I said, at the end of the day, can
(55:43):
I make a contact with you? M hm? And who
cares if we were five five or five six. I'd
rather it's just the enjoyment of making the contact, still
in contact, that's right.
Speaker 2 (55:54):
I like all these people that have commented on my
ft x.
Speaker 3 (55:57):
One video videos about how, oh, I'll just go get
a zigu instead, and I'm.
Speaker 1 (56:04):
Like, that's yes, that's apples and bowling balls.
Speaker 2 (56:10):
I am not. I am not dogging zaigu, okay.
Speaker 3 (56:13):
And if you have a G ninety or a sixty one,
sixty two hundred and you like it, and that's what
you use, you make contacts, Like Zoe said, fan freakantastic,
that is awesome, But damn the number of people that
have obviously never used an icon or a yazu and
understand the difference between the receiver and the filtering on
those radios versus the G ninety. The G ninety is
(56:37):
a RF dump of noise. Can you use it? Can
you make contacts?
Speaker 2 (56:41):
Absolutely? Is it a good radio?
Speaker 4 (56:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (56:43):
Absolutely? Yeah, yeah, sooner and it's fantastic.
Speaker 1 (56:46):
As well as there's a difference between twenty watch and
a hunter watch. We all know that.
Speaker 3 (56:50):
I'm not even talking about that. I'm talking about receivers. Receiver, Okay,
I'm talking because because I have people, Oh, Gen ninety,
I was twenty wise when you talk about the fd
X one, the older IC seven O five, and I'm like, yeah, yeah,
you got twenty wats to punch out there, but you're
not going to hear that station. Who's a four to
four on his zaigu by the way you would on
an icon. Yeah, it's just not gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (57:11):
So, and when you're talking about class of radios, yeah,
you're probably a G ninety is probably your best purchase
in that class of twenty watt radio.
Speaker 1 (57:21):
Probably?
Speaker 3 (57:21):
Oh well yeah, yeah sure, I still think I probably
mean mobile twenty what radio when you say that about
are you talking about Okay? So, so the k X
three is fifteen watts but it's like five times the
cost of the ninety, So how are you classifying that?
Speaker 1 (57:39):
Uh price? I had a X two and the receiver
was incredible.
Speaker 2 (57:44):
Oh yeah, the Allocraft receivers all.
Speaker 3 (57:47):
K X two's a ten watt radio, the KX three
is a fifteen watt radio, and the G ninety is
a twenty wat radio. But the receivers on those KX
series radio is far, far, far exceed the receiver on
the on the G ninety.
Speaker 2 (57:58):
But the G niney know, t in a wet noodle.
So you know, yeah, I'll clarify. I was speaking classes
of price, Okay, yeah, yeah, then then you are correct.
Speaker 3 (58:08):
I agree with your statement then absolutely, Yeah that's as
far as you said twenty watt radio.
Speaker 4 (58:12):
So I was like, yeah, I'm sorry, yeah, no, no, nothing technical, yeah,
just the price.
Speaker 2 (58:16):
Yeah yeah, price layes No.
Speaker 3 (58:18):
Absolutely, And every time that, every time, every Black Friday
that comes around, because it was like it's like four
for forty nine something like that on a normal day,
every time Black Friday comes around or Amazon Prime Day
and that thing drops below three hundred and ninety dollars.
Believing I'm sharing the link to it, I'm like, hey,
G ninety three seventy nine, Go get it, Go get it. So,
uh but yeah, I mean it's it's just it's not
(58:40):
the same thing. I mean, that's just it's.
Speaker 1 (58:44):
A great entry radio.
Speaker 2 (58:45):
It is a great entry radio.
Speaker 1 (58:47):
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (58:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (58:48):
In fact, when I gave my my G ninety was
donated to me by MFJ back in the day, back
when it was brand new, and I used it a
bunch of did some videos on it and sent people
to mfj's website, which is no longer there. Uh So,
when Frank started getting into Poda, I gave him my
G ninety and he still has it, and I was like,
(59:08):
you know what, I haven't used this thing in a
long time.
Speaker 2 (59:10):
Here go use it.
Speaker 3 (59:11):
And then he had some freaking subscriber to give him
an ftd X ten and I wanted to shoot him.
Speaker 2 (59:18):
I mean, people just feel sorry for Frank, you know.
Speaker 1 (59:21):
You know.
Speaker 3 (59:22):
But anyways, and I brought it from him and I
was like, dude, I need that GEN ninety back to
make a video.
Speaker 2 (59:28):
He's like yeah, sure, and he let me borrow and
I gave it back to it's his.
Speaker 1 (59:30):
I gave it to.
Speaker 3 (59:31):
Him, so but it was like, you know, I don't
need it anymore, and he got some use out of
it doing his first Phota.
Speaker 1 (59:37):
Activations with it. So I'm got a good taste. He
got a good yeah. Yeah, and Steve, you go, Steve again.
You made a good point initially, because if you're brand new,
if you're a brand new general, and if money's a
little tight, like it always is for you know, different
parts of our life go with the G ninety. Maybe
(59:58):
it gets you on the air, and maybe you're not
gonna be using it all the time. I know, for
a guy like me who does a lot of HF work,
the G ninety is just not for me. And that's okay.
That's that's the wonderful thing about all these different classes
of radios. I know what you can afford, get the
best value for what you can afford. And then then
(01:00:19):
as you expand more into the hobby or like if
you go down that whole you're spending a lot of
time on HF, you're gonna want a better radio. And
I guarantee you you will spend the money and it'll
be worth it. It'll be worth it's a good investment,
not for resale, but it's an investment towards your pleasure
and fun. That's how I look at it, you know.
Speaker 3 (01:00:38):
So, yeah, people are talking about the FX for CR.
Speaker 1 (01:00:44):
Have you used that one? And you use that one?
I was tempted. I've got a club member that's got one.
I have not personally used to it. What do you
think it's good?
Speaker 3 (01:00:56):
But they say it's a twenty watt radio and it
is on sideband and on FT. The great thing about
its predecessor, of the FX for C, is that it
was ten watts on sideband CW and digital worked great.
Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
Uh the FX four c R, I can only get.
Speaker 3 (01:01:11):
A five watts out of out of it on Digital
M and and on both of those radios, they they splatter.
You got to wrap your USB cable around a tol
roid or it disconnects from the from the computer because
of the RFI coming out of it. So so I
was disappointed. Yeah, it's a twenty wat radio on sideban,
but I was disappointed only in five wats on FT eight.
(01:01:33):
So I don't know if they've had a firmware update
that that improved that since then.
Speaker 2 (01:01:37):
It's been a couple of years since I picked that
one up.
Speaker 1 (01:01:39):
But yeah, that'd be a question for Kevin kzer ok
LB out there, you know, throws it, throws it on
the John Deere on the u TV, goes out to
the cornfields and you know, load loads up a silo
to or whatever, you know. But again the man's making contacts.
He is, you know, great fun with it and everything.
But again for some other people, I said, I was
(01:02:00):
closely looking at it, but like I said that, that
QIX man just really intrigued me. Oh, nothing's net yeah,
you know, And once again I feel like I'm Jay
Leno sometimes because you start collecting all these things and
then your other things that you have here are like,
what about me? What about me? How come you're not
taking me out? You know? So, But that's okay, We'll
give everybody some attention.
Speaker 3 (01:02:21):
I'm doing this thirty day challenge right now and loving it.
I may not love it by the time that day
twenty five gets here, But I thought of another one.
What's I'm like, And I'm sitting here counting in my head.
I'm like, I activated a photo park every day for
fifteen days at a different park with a different radio
and antenna, And I'm sitting there counting in my head.
(01:02:43):
I'm like, yeah, I've got that many reading.
Speaker 1 (01:02:47):
Wow, you read you read counted seventeen. Actually that I
had so, but but when you when you look back now,
Jason Sarah, So let's go back to this thirty day thing.
I think it's wonderful not only for us as viewers,
but even for yourself. You're gonna you're gonna even look
at what type of enrichment this is, this has done
(01:03:07):
for you, not only as a filmmaker, but as the
user of this stuff, that you're really gonna spend some
real hardcore time and figure out so that so maybe
in October November next time, next time you go down
the Galvestend, well probably what maybe be what January for you,
you're gonna say, you know, I think I'm gonna take
this with me. I'm gonna take that this all this
stuff is gonna stay home or or whatever, or maybe
(01:03:29):
I'll bring two of these and the others will stay home.
And I think it really brought it really goes deep
with us when we start going into these into these
little projects that we do. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:03:39):
Yeah, And I said at the beginning of this project,
I'm like, you know, there's several things I'm doing that
I've never done before, and I'm gonna have to learn
how to do whatever. So and I've already learned a
couple of things, so it's it's not all of Oh,
I'm just doing a knowledge jump of stuff that's in
my head. I was like, no, I got to go
learn this thing before I can make a video about it. So,
(01:04:00):
and that's always fun to do. It's always fun to grow, you.
Speaker 1 (01:04:03):
Know, it's gonna be fun. Any b roll that you
had that you didn't put out, I don't want to
say mistakes, but we'll call him mishaps. Oh yeah, if
you do, you do. The compilations are great. Not only
are they funny, but you really learn from them too. Yeah.
So it's kind of it's sort of like a double
edged sword there for us. Yeah, you know, everyone's loving it. Man,
I've been. I mean, we we're I I have I
(01:04:25):
take care of the X account for us. So my
goal is every day is to take your link and
push it out that yeah, thank you. Good but uh
and good game is going to be happy, I think.
I mean, he's a great guy. We've known him for
how many years now, and we see the wonderful things
he's done within the hobby and now it surprised me
(01:04:46):
about some of the things. You know, the cost of
what I think it was forty five dollars a teacher.
What it costs. Yeah, yeah, so and this is for
a worthy cout just made. This is a very worthy thing.
We don't need to get Carlos in here, or we
did last week. We would double ministry things going on.
I forgot what they call it, but multiplier or multiplier
that's it. So I think it's a good thing.
Speaker 3 (01:05:09):
So yeah, yeah, he came on. He was talking to
uh on the on the uh oh that was the
live stream where we had k I A t A.
We presented him with the money from the from the
POTO event at Huntsville. I think Carlos had had a
couple he came on that night. A couple would be
(01:05:29):
I'm trying to be nice.
Speaker 1 (01:05:30):
Yeah mm hmmm. He does. He does know his limits.
So I'm in a couple of copies. That's what I
was talking about. Yeah, m hmm. Half at the time,
it's really quiet without Shane here.
Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
Troy, if.
Speaker 1 (01:05:53):
That's okay, he's not making water. I bet your Walmart
came to the house and they were bringing in the groceries. Yeah,
it could be. That's way to do it. That's how
I do it with there.
Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:06:04):
I don't go to freaking Walmart. Jeez, Jason. What's Galveston
like right now? As far as the population is, it
has it declined a little bit? Or like what's Galveston?
Speaker 9 (01:06:14):
Like?
Speaker 1 (01:06:14):
Here we are in September.
Speaker 4 (01:06:17):
He's in Galveston. It technically increased. Literally, yeah, I don't
know that day.
Speaker 3 (01:06:22):
It's Labor Day. Weekend and holiday weekends are always popular.
Most of the most of the people who come down
here come from like the Houston area. About seventy five
percent of all the renters that rent from our property
management that runs our house for us, about seventy five
percent of all just come from Houston. Because it's like,
you know, Galveston's not it's not like it's Hawaii or
Gulf Coast or anything like that, or I'm not the
(01:06:44):
golf code like the Pacific Coast or something like that.
It's the ocean. It's better than the ocean you probably
have in your backyard. But you know, it's not the
it's not the prettiest place in the world. But you know,
if you can drive forty five minutes or an hour
and go to the coast and spend the week and.
Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
On the beach.
Speaker 1 (01:07:00):
That's what that's what people do. So it's uh, it's
it's come up, you know it.
Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
It took a hit in COVID twenty twenty, twenty twenty one,
and it's it's really kind of come back with a
vengeance since then, so a lot of new businesses opening up,
new houses being built, more people move.
Speaker 1 (01:07:18):
Into the area. So yeah, it's it's gal the year round,
does it? Does it see a seasonal trend? Like how
we have it up here. We we have our seasonal trends,
do you it's galley those locations where it's pretty year round,
pretty it's pretty steady to a certain degree, you know,
plus the spikes.
Speaker 3 (01:07:33):
No, it's got I mean, like like the the the
real peak season is when school's out, so basically Memorial
Day ish until the middle of August roughly, and then
it uh and then it slows down and you know,
it picks back up for like Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year,
is that kind of thing. But most our property management
(01:07:54):
company does this thing that they call winter texts, and
that if if someone wants to rent it during the winter,
which is not very popular at a time but if
they'll rent it for a month, they can get like
this huge deep discount.
Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
On it, and we had that happen last year.
Speaker 3 (01:08:09):
In fact, that's why we weren't here for Winter Field
Day earlier in twenty twenty five, is because somebody rented
it for all of January and February, so which was hey,
I mean, that's usually since vacant during that time. So
my wife and I were like, well, we want to
go down, but we'd like to have the income too,
So because the house isn't paid for yet. We paid
off our home a couple of years ago, but we
(01:08:29):
haven't paid We still have a mortgage on this house.
Speaker 1 (01:08:30):
So we try to get it rented as much as
we can.
Speaker 3 (01:08:33):
But yeah, it's it's it definitely peaked season around warmer weather,
and once the weather gets cold, people don't ten.
Speaker 1 (01:08:39):
Come down here at all. Where you go to activate?
Five minutes away, ten minutes away? Do you walk? Do
you take a UTV? Electric bike? I mean, what do
you your truck? What do you do? I drive?
Speaker 3 (01:08:49):
I take my truck. It's about a seven minute drive
I could take. I do have my electric bike down here.
In fact, the reason I got the electric to XP
two point zero with the little fat or tires on it,
and I got the knobby tires on it because I
wanted to be able to drive it on the sand
down here.
Speaker 1 (01:09:08):
That was the main reason I got it.
Speaker 2 (01:09:11):
And so I can. I can.
Speaker 3 (01:09:13):
I can get on the beach. I can ride the
beach all the way to the state park. I've done
that a couple of times. Somebody in the chat says,
you want to you need to do a bicycle mobile.
Speaker 1 (01:09:20):
That's what I was thinking about.
Speaker 3 (01:09:22):
That's actually something that I've I've contemplated and made some
notes on. I haven't actually done it yet, but that
is something i'd like to do so eventually, not that
I won't have a chance to do it this trip.
You asked when we'd be down here again. It's probably
going to be New Year's We might come down sometime
(01:09:44):
next month. I don't really think we have any plans
for next month, and then hunting season starts in November,
so that's generally where I am. Although we have come
down during the week of Thanksgiving several times and invited
friends and family to come down here and join us.
Speaker 2 (01:09:57):
But I think I think our house.
Speaker 1 (01:09:58):
Is rented that that week.
Speaker 5 (01:09:59):
This year.
Speaker 1 (01:10:00):
I'm not sure, but we got it.
Speaker 3 (01:10:02):
Somebody's rented it for the week of Christmas and they
leave on December twenty sixth, and I think we're going
to nab it ourselves and come down on the twenty
six and stay until like January second or third or
something like that, So that'll probably be the next time
we're down here. Excellent, But if I wasn't doing this
thirty day challenge right now, my goal when I'm here,
because the closest park I have to me when I'm
at home is about a thirty minute drive and this
(01:10:24):
park is a seven minute drive. So I've activated this
park more than I've active in any part. And my
personal goal is to activate Poda every day i'm here,
but I haven't done that this trip because I'm doing
this other thing. So when I come down down again,
that's going to be a thing, the activate PoTA every day.
Speaker 1 (01:10:38):
What do you think of the of the electric bike?
Because I started looking and now my Instagram and everything
else is they are then flooding me with you know,
Labor Day sales and this. I know I want to
go with the first thing. I know. I want the
folding bike. I just have to decide do I want
a twenty inch tire or a twenty four inch tire,
(01:10:58):
But the electric bike that my case something like either
like that or something else. I'm I'm in I'm in
R A D mode right now because I need to
figure out what I want. So that's why I like
talking to other people saying, hey, what do you got?
Why do you like it? And that kind of stuff.
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:11:18):
Yeah, so I like the shorter bikes because I'm not
the tall person, and I like but I like the
larger tires for the off roading. I mean, they make
bikes that are like urban made for riding on the
concrete and whatnot with the larger rims, but the lower
profile tires and those are fine, you're gonna ride around
the city and whatnot.
Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
But I like this.
Speaker 3 (01:11:36):
I like I take my I take my b to
the hunting lease and I'll ride it out to the
deer stand in the morning, right, you know, because it's
it's easy to do that, and it's fairly quiet compared
to a pickup truck driving through the field.
Speaker 1 (01:11:49):
So those deers are looking at you like, what the
hell is this going? You know? Which why yeah, yeah, yeah,
they walked in his hand.
Speaker 2 (01:12:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:12:04):
Yeah, yeah, they ought to be.
Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
You know, they ought to be desensitized because we haven't
had like an uh an armada shooting best out there
in quite some time, so they ought to be that's true.
Speaker 3 (01:12:16):
Yeah, yeah, hey dude, we could we could launch your
blue from out there.
Speaker 1 (01:12:21):
I can put it on the tether. That's a big
ass field.
Speaker 2 (01:12:24):
Really yeah, it's not.
Speaker 3 (01:12:28):
It's not a pot of spot, so we'd have to
we wouldn't have any potus stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:12:33):
But is it closed enough? I mean, wait, no, I
just know it's not.
Speaker 2 (01:12:37):
I wish it was.
Speaker 1 (01:12:38):
I really wish it was. But it's not.
Speaker 2 (01:12:40):
No, you're you're like, I think it's five or six
miles from grasslands as the crow flies.
Speaker 10 (01:12:46):
Yeah yeah, something like that. M Sorry, that bird I
was gonna goes on the wrong way.
Speaker 1 (01:12:56):
Okay, now it's just burned.
Speaker 5 (01:13:00):
One.
Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
Huh Yeah, that's well or special reserve, good stuff. That's
a good one.
Speaker 1 (01:13:07):
I was freaking moon. Sorry, that's what That's what I was.
Speaker 3 (01:13:09):
I wish I could hand you this ghost pepper cut
and candy I picked up the other day.
Speaker 1 (01:13:14):
What was that the other night?
Speaker 3 (01:13:15):
Man?
Speaker 1 (01:13:16):
I saw you?
Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
I said, Nope, that wasn't it. It was all heart
for him.
Speaker 5 (01:13:21):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:13:24):
You know I got after that stuff for an hour.
I was like, you know, I need nan tacit or
stuffing to do.
Speaker 2 (01:13:32):
Yeah, yeah, my camera decided to do its thing.
Speaker 1 (01:13:41):
Come on, all right, sorry friend, You're not actually out
of cigar lounge right now.
Speaker 2 (01:13:47):
No, I'm at home. This is the Jeremy Sears cigar
lounge from YouTube. You're he has a really good YouTube channel.
Speaker 1 (01:13:58):
About bourbon and cigars.
Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
Fantastic, So I totally stole his Uh this is so.
He has like a regular, regular house, like nothing special house,
and then he took one of the bedrooms and he
turned it into this cigar lounge and he put like
an air exchanger in there. His wife said, you need
to steal the door so that I can't smell it.
And but yeah, but just regular every day house and
(01:14:22):
Jeremy Sears.
Speaker 1 (01:14:23):
Okay, would that be funny? Matthew comes home from school,
his rooms turned is turned into half is the news
and half is where the astray is.
Speaker 3 (01:14:41):
I have tried to talk Robbie at Gigaparts into creating
a cigar room in the back of the store. That
would be great. He's not going for it. He does
not he has no interest in that whatsoever. But I'm like,
you think that would be a no brainer.
Speaker 8 (01:14:54):
No, no, not at all a little bit. So what
does field Day that's next door to gigaparts.
Speaker 3 (01:14:59):
It's some kind of what it's some kind of like
David Busters but better type joint.
Speaker 4 (01:15:04):
No, we keep people keep mentioning Dave and Busters because
everybody knows what David busters. It's like Campisado five on steroids.
They just got a lot more games and stuff. They
got breweries, and they have breweries in the field. Yeah, okay,
we're gonna go hang out next. Let me let me,
let me back up from Mississippi. I may not know
(01:15:25):
what the true definition of a brewery is. I don't
know that they got big brew in tanks, but you
can get you some drinks there. Well, if they brew there,
then they're a brewery.
Speaker 3 (01:15:37):
If they sell craft beer there, then they're just a
tap house, which is almost as good because you can
actually get more brands than just theirs there, So nothing
wrong with you.
Speaker 2 (01:15:46):
One put the link of the chat for those that
are interested in Jeremy's channel. He's got some cool stuff
in there. If you go back far enough, you can
see where he built out the Actually, I'll just share
the link for.
Speaker 1 (01:15:58):
The the room that he built out because I need
another squirrel.
Speaker 3 (01:16:05):
I was gonna say, probably the cost of his house
six hundred and forty seven thousand subs. I need to
email this guy, hey man, Yeah, would you like to
talk about our Lord and savior Ham Radio's.
Speaker 1 (01:16:20):
Dude? I did.
Speaker 2 (01:16:20):
I did something on I was What was it?
Speaker 11 (01:16:22):
It was?
Speaker 3 (01:16:24):
It was like I did an Amazon gadget video or something.
I was showing this and that and that and like
the top seven things on Amazon that you need your
gadget bag, whatever it was, And like the fifth thing
was this really cool cigar lader that had a punch
and a little stand in a and a and a
stick to stick through the center, you know, to to
open it up and whatnot, and had like a bunch
(01:16:44):
of different tools on it. I was like, Okay, this
isn't technically Ham Radio, but every time we go smoke cigars,
we always meet him radio guys who are also cigar smokers.
And in the comment section, I just got a bunch
of guys saying, hell, yes, cigars are Ham Radio. What
are you talking about.
Speaker 1 (01:16:59):
Let's go a little My people are here absolutely so.
Yeah it was great. Yeah, that letter was on point. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:17:09):
Yeah, I found one that I that I've been using
more often because it's got to be cut into it.
Speaker 1 (01:17:15):
Yeah, that's mind. Yeah, I got the v cart there
it is. Yeah, that's the one I like. I haven't
had the v C since high school. Yeah, it's like
some of you will get that. I can't do the shirts.
Speaker 2 (01:17:29):
Man, Is that what's talking about?
Speaker 5 (01:17:31):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:17:31):
No, no, no no. And I like what you did,
Jo bred to your microphone.
Speaker 2 (01:17:35):
I like that I've changed out the sponsorship plaques.
Speaker 1 (01:17:41):
I've worn out my welcome I guess I'll go now
you're welcome to stay you.
Speaker 2 (01:17:46):
I'm gonna take this out off.
Speaker 1 (01:17:49):
Smart ass and in the green roll man, did you
see that? He says, he says, we're gonna go on that,
We're gonna go off, like what because we told you
nine fifteen and now we're three minutes, four minutes over?
Do you guys?
Speaker 2 (01:18:00):
Are you guys bringing them on?
Speaker 1 (01:18:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:18:02):
Yeah, they're going to companion that was supposed to explain
this to the whole part is evolved.
Speaker 2 (01:18:07):
Oh he told I did he told me?
Speaker 4 (01:18:10):
Edit?
Speaker 1 (01:18:10):
Handled all right?
Speaker 2 (01:18:13):
But yes, uh, before before we get tongue lashed Jason
one more time for your links for the uh the
Teachers Institute donation thirty days in September. It's for from
September first to September thirtieth, right.
Speaker 3 (01:18:28):
Yeah, yeah, I'm just calling it thirty days of Ham Radio.
So I'm not thirty days of Ham Radio. Yeah, able
RL dot org force slash thirty days, which.
Speaker 2 (01:18:37):
Is donate donate, donate there. It is fantastic love of
the stuff, the good games, just doing. Yep, you're more
than welcome to say we have to bring these guys
from the northeast to do you have room?
Speaker 1 (01:18:50):

Speaker 3 (01:18:51):
Yeah, okay, I'll stay for a little bit. We have
we have that big the big Boy paid account.
Speaker 1 (01:18:57):
Wow. Sometimes the.
Speaker 2 (01:19:02):
Show Todd Eric and and Grouch wearing he's wearing I gotta.
Speaker 1 (01:19:11):
Solo him, all right, it's just Todd.
Speaker 2 (01:19:18):
Version.
Speaker 1 (01:19:20):
Yeah. Yes, that's a good Todd. Is this your first
time here?
Speaker 6 (01:19:24):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:19:25):
No, he's been here. Okay. I just want to make sure, okay, man,
and he doesn't need vegan either. There is that I
know that. I know about that. I know he's not
a vegan either.
Speaker 7 (01:19:38):
Oh good, well, I guess.
Speaker 1 (01:19:42):
Or how you get yourself planned? That's a great way
to start to shoot. Well, luckily we're an hour twenty
and so.
Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
Yeah, because everybody else is already left already you challenges
to get there up in the park.
Speaker 1 (01:20:00):
I've got the solution just for you.
Speaker 3 (01:20:04):
Boy.
Speaker 1 (01:20:05):
Oh my god, that went there were my ears? Yeah,
I like it. Jeez. Welcome to show, guys, how are you? Yeah,
welcome guys.
Speaker 3 (01:20:15):
We're good for those that you don't know. These are
the jokesters from the Liffrey and Ham Show. Also, Eric
is on our All Star system. He is and Paul
likes to jump out of the airport group.
Speaker 1 (01:20:29):
These are my brothers from many mothers and this weekend.
Who had the idea to do something twenty four hours? Okay?
Oh yeah, you guys are doing that next weekend, aren't you?
This is coming weekend. It's coming weekend. Tell us all
about there. It is the next weekend. All right, well
(01:20:51):
technically it is coming up. Those that aren't in the know.
Speaker 6 (01:20:55):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:20:55):
Todd was the brainchild to this.
Speaker 9 (01:20:58):
He's somewhere I don't remember what episode it was, but
he's like, we should do it twenty four our PoTA.
I don't think anybody's ever done a twenty four hour
PoTA ever, and we're like, okay, well what do you
want to do? And so it went from this like
we should just do it together to we should just
make this a freaking camp out and have some fun,
and you know kind of just really, you know, it's
it's exploded, I have to say, partially because of my doing.
Speaker 1 (01:21:20):
But at the same time, you know, Todd has always.
Speaker 9 (01:21:23):
Got hey, we should add one more thing, or we
should think about this, or we talk about something new,
and it just kind of, you know, just grows from there.
But yeah, we we've got a little twenty four hour
Poda camp out live stream going on. We'll be up
at Greenfield State Park in our lovely state of New Hampshire.
Got about probably twenty five people camping over the weekend.
(01:21:46):
You know, Mike, you know I list is huge, got
a buttload of stuff, you know, food, It's gonna be
a whole catered event. So Izzo, you're going to miss
out on some awesome stuff.
Speaker 5 (01:21:56):
You know.
Speaker 9 (01:21:57):
I can't tell you much more why you shouldn't be there,
even for the day, but you should be there. You
got the event details nice, Well that's the actual We're
kind of prepared. But if you go to if you
go to twenty four twenty four h dash live dash stream,
that will actually get you the whole details for if
you're going to come for the day or you want
(01:22:17):
to be in the live stream and be part of
uh you know that whole fun. So yeah, like there's
a lot going on and you know, you guys can
fill in, but I'll start there.
Speaker 1 (01:22:27):
Twenty four live flash eight twenty four.
Speaker 9 (01:22:31):
Twenty four h dash live dash stream, and it's difficult
for your job.
Speaker 1 (01:22:36):
It's okay, Northern boys, we talked. I was waiting for Joe.
Speaker 4 (01:22:45):
I don't know if this is the right website. Dude,
you'll just go to Lift Free and imagine the possibilities.
Speaker 9 (01:22:53):
That's not us. I mean, go down to the main page,
front page. From page front, just click on the logo
Joe that must left. Now go a little farther down,
farther down, further down, click that. Yeah, that's it. There
we go and then now the details of rein event.
(01:23:15):
So yeah, we got two streams going on for the weekend.
So Friday night we're doing our official steak and Whiskey night,
So we're gonna have a bunch of folks Mike and
too m Kay will be there making an appearance.
Speaker 1 (01:23:31):
Obviously us.
Speaker 9 (01:23:32):
I mean, the list is huge in terms of who's
gonna be there Friday night, and then if we all
survive from that, we'll be Oh, where we go here button,
sorry guy, apparently a technical difficulties.
Speaker 1 (01:23:45):
There we go.
Speaker 9 (01:23:47):
We'll then roll from there into our Saturday morning events
where people will be showing up Tortoise, you know, a
whole bunch of people. And I think we've got like
twenty two people going that will be camping there for
the weekend, and we're gonna be live streaming from roughly
one pm Eastern Stan time seventeen hundred utc uh. And
we've got a butt ton of sponsors to donate stuff.
(01:24:10):
So those are just a few there that you know
have thrown us schwag or good ease or cool stuff.
We won't reveal what's going to be there, but obviously
by a few that you can tell you know what
might be coming. But we are also in the midst
of all of that craziness for full twenty four hours, uh,
we'll be working what every mood under the sun JSA
(01:24:33):
call FT eight you know, CW Sidebary.
Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
Are you working miss testing well?
Speaker 1 (01:24:39):
Good question. We never brought that up, and nobody in
the chat did, so I assume no.
Speaker 2 (01:24:42):
Yeah, how about you better do it otherwise I brought
it for it.
Speaker 1 (01:24:47):
Well, you got to do a Paul, then you want
to take that on your plate, So listen.
Speaker 7 (01:24:53):
I tried to.
Speaker 12 (01:24:54):
I tried to get it going down in Huntsville, like
you know, activate twenty three centimeters via mession.
Speaker 1 (01:25:02):
And yep, how'd it go?
Speaker 7 (01:25:04):
I think I got three contracts.
Speaker 1 (01:25:06):
Okay, I got twelve. We might get one then, oh,
good job.
Speaker 4 (01:25:12):
I did a copy of your CQ, Paul, but I
thought you were replying to my squ poda.
Speaker 1 (01:25:17):
Oh mestastic.
Speaker 2 (01:25:19):
So then so if you exchange text messages over mestastic,
is that a contact nine hundred and six mega hurts
so on slot twenty.
Speaker 9 (01:25:28):
Technically, I don't know how you would log the contact
in the problem.
Speaker 1 (01:25:32):
Is the mode.
Speaker 3 (01:25:35):
The problem is there's not a mode, right, Yeah, you
can't really log it it is. It is a handband.
It's in the hand hand band is nine two to
nine twenty seven, So it's in the handband shared band obviously,
But yeah, but it's not the eight. It's not JSC call,
it's not PSK.
Speaker 2 (01:25:53):
TOTA had just a data mode that would be perfect.
Speaker 3 (01:25:56):
Yeah, yeah, you know, I know a guy stand by
that's yeah, exactly that guy.
Speaker 1 (01:26:04):
Well, you got a local guy do that with with
some laser beams. Dave nz one Jay he was doing
that with some laser beats.
Speaker 3 (01:26:12):
So laser beams are an actual you can do U
If you ever ever attended the Microwave Update conference, there's
guys sending QSOs over freaking light beams. Yes on, like
thirty forty fifty, one hundred and fifty thousand gigahertz whatever
the heck it is like nano nano meters bands. I'm like,
(01:26:32):
you know, you guys way over my head. Oh my god,
I just figured out what That's some crazy stuff that
they Yeah, it's it's insane the way they do it.
I'm like, like, what lab did you steal that out of?
Speaker 1 (01:26:46):
Well? This guy made it. This guy he made he home.
You have to make it.
Speaker 2 (01:26:50):
Nobody down off the show.
Speaker 1 (01:26:55):
He he open up the back of the SUV, says
come over here, right, yeah, in the back of this
can I light my cigar off?
Speaker 2 (01:27:06):
The whole new men have a laser beam beam? Right?
Speaker 3 (01:27:10):
Is a.
Speaker 1 (01:27:12):
Too? Ready? That's asking.
Speaker 9 (01:27:17):
I guess I could pass as that. No one's gonna
question it. They're gonna be thinking, what modey, why are
you playing in that.
Speaker 1 (01:27:27):
Big deal there?
Speaker 9 (01:27:28):
Yeah, Chris Bricker, We're using our club called Whiskey One
Live Free and ham uh so come operate. We got
two stations set up a lot of my hex Beam
and trip Whiskey one Live Free and him.
Speaker 1 (01:27:44):
L F H y H ham alert as sweet. That's
a great I very much.
Speaker 3 (01:27:53):
I have one every every once every stream. I have
a great idea talking about talking about a hem alert.
Now I've discovered something new today that everybody else probably knows.
But I was going looking at my hem alert and
you can customize your pop up.
Speaker 1 (01:28:11):
Yeah, so yeah, you.
Speaker 2 (01:28:16):
Can change customize what you wanted. Yeah, I made it
more entertaining.
Speaker 1 (01:28:24):
So what does your say now to go back to it?
Speaker 4 (01:28:29):
It says, well, let's do this because it depends on
who's get spotted, right, But you see, just go to
the website. Oh yeah, your website is a lot easier.
The push notification the titles they've been spotted, and it
(01:28:51):
gives the call sign and frequency in the mood and
what state they were heard.
Speaker 9 (01:28:54):
You knew a lot of stuff in school. I changed
my mind to say great Scott every time it goes.
Speaker 2 (01:28:58):
On, Great Scott. So my nieces say, well ship.
Speaker 1 (01:29:06):
Dan Son into the well. Here we go again. I
only have that for PoTA power. But yeah, yeah there. Yeah,
this weekend, are you the Are you the cook this weekend?
Speaker 5 (01:29:20):
Todd?
Speaker 1 (01:29:20):
Or yeah, you're mute to Todd? You're I mute yourself, rookie.
Speaker 9 (01:29:29):
Yeah, this is a normal about twenty five minutes of
our podcast everything but.
Speaker 1 (01:29:37):
What if I them? If he answers in the next
ten seconds, we're going to donate one thousand dollars. Yeah,
from what is from him? You're muted somewhere, Todd, You're
not passing audio.
Speaker 9 (01:29:51):
So to answer the cooking question, yeah, Paul and Todd
have graciously decided to cook on Sunday morning. There'll be
our lovely breakfast chef.
Speaker 1 (01:29:58):
So is that a good or bad thing? We'll have
to find out. Have you say, have you eaten either
of their cooking before Brave? Actually, I can't screw up
eggs and bacon.
Speaker 2 (01:30:11):
Oh yes again, yes, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:30:16):
Did you not hear what happened last years felt with
the ballistic eggs? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:30:22):
Seventy five?
Speaker 3 (01:30:23):
Yeah, I told that story from Kyle numerous times.
Speaker 8 (01:30:27):
He loves to tell as soon as the eggs hit,
they like exploded, like real too hot.
Speaker 1 (01:30:34):
Just you guy, vapor.
Speaker 5 (01:30:41):
Wrong, I had the wrong mic. Sorry about that.
Speaker 1 (01:30:43):
Of course it happens.
Speaker 5 (01:30:46):
I can hear you. Guys. I was like, it happened,
so it would you say? It's a question my cooking?
Speaker 1 (01:30:52):
Yeah you're cooking?
Speaker 5 (01:30:53):
Yeah, yeah, so I'm cooking.
Speaker 11 (01:30:54):
I am making my Uh I used to go to
NASCAR races and I used to cook steak tips mar
mad him in a special Italian.
Speaker 5 (01:31:03):
Yeah, like forty eight hours in a bag and a
fridge and then uh so we'll have that on.
Speaker 1 (01:31:08):
You had me to you that Italian.
Speaker 5 (01:31:11):
Have you never had that, Joe Brick, come on.
Speaker 4 (01:31:14):
Like Italian salad dress, don't knock it till you God.
I ain't saying I ain't still gonna eat it, because
it's still stay. But I'm just saying some like marinade
or something else would have been a much better choice.
Speaker 11 (01:31:29):
Well, you know what, come on, there's still time for
you to get up here for Friday, you know, try
it out.
Speaker 9 (01:31:38):
Yeah, right, or we could just send you some in
a box. I don't know what it'll taste, like when
it gets there.
Speaker 1 (01:31:44):
To go up north, up to the northeast.
Speaker 4 (01:31:47):
This is my is the Mama Noel grill Master or
whatever how many nicknames you've got now just her birthday
weekend and so we're gonna be a campground and dorvy,
I'll try to work you off from from the mobile.
Speaker 5 (01:31:59):
You could have come to ground with an RV.
Speaker 1 (01:32:03):
I don't know that his truck would have made it.
Speaker 11 (01:32:05):
Yeah, well look at we got lucky at this park.
Is this guy Alex who's the park ranger. He I
my flying club goes here the week after we're going
to be there to do a float fly. And when
he became the park ranger, I took him up on
a plane and he got the fly and he was like, oh,
this is awesome.
Speaker 5 (01:32:23):
So I called him up.
Speaker 11 (01:32:24):
I said, hey, uh, what he got going on the
weekend before the float fly? He goes nothing. I'm like,
I'm gonna bring some of my Hamm radio guys.
Speaker 1 (01:32:31):
Are you cool with that?
Speaker 5 (01:32:32):
He goes sure, no problem, And he's like the.
Speaker 11 (01:32:34):
Most laid back guy he could care less, Like, we're
gonna take over the parking lot, right, and he's like, yep, yeah,
do the same thing. It's all good, like all right cool.
So that's how it kind of started, and it kind
of grew. It was going to be like the three
of us and maybe a couple of guys from our club.
And now we've got where is where's Bob from?
Speaker 5 (01:32:52):
Eric?
Speaker 11 (01:32:53):
Yeah, yeah, he's he's coming out. So I'm picking him
up Friday morning go to the park. So uh and
he's gonna is he still testing for his technician? You know,
we'll see us.
Speaker 2 (01:33:08):
Yeah, we can as long as he's got call sound.
Speaker 12 (01:33:10):
He doesn't need it anyway, Yeah, exactly, We're gonna do
a test session on Sunday anyway.
Speaker 1 (01:33:16):
Yeah, right at hit me up if you need a yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 11 (01:33:22):
So anyway, it's gonna be. It's gonna be. I think
it's gonna be a good time. We're hoping if it
works out, well, we'll do it every year. And it's
been like a little mini field day for us.
Speaker 1 (01:33:30):
First one first.
Speaker 5 (01:33:33):
Well the way with all these.
Speaker 11 (01:33:34):
People coming, I mean you keep adding that you said
ten eleven, Now it's like twenty two. I'm like ship
you know how it is? Like I told Alec, I'm yeah,
just a couple of it. It's not gonna be a
big thing. It'll be like thirty campers there.
Speaker 1 (01:33:49):
Okay, but thenk you guys for communicating with my guys.
Sewan down here and Sean said out a big blast
to our groups. I oh, and I'm hoping that's gonna fester.
So some stuff. What do you guys so you have?
You have the Cobweb antenna? What other antennas that you
guys gonna have going out?
Speaker 9 (01:34:07):
So there has been chats on our discord between Matt
and a few others putting together a one sixty we'll
definitely have on the heck buddy, HECKX will have what
twenty through six or twenty through ten, And so Matt
was coming that weekend. So we're pretty much well suited
for whatever intends we want to make. And he can
(01:34:29):
whip something up if he needs to in a matter
of moments and get us up on the air. But yeah,
they were they were talking about almost, you know, a
full one sixty. Why SOX girl I saw a socks
girl was talking about that like, I'm like, I don't
know about am, but you know we'll get you on
eighty either way. A you can well, you know got
(01:34:50):
a school Tenna, we got plenty of antennas well. I
don't know not I going to use the school antenna.
That's a giveaway, but it's not coming out of the box.
Speaker 3 (01:34:58):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (01:34:58):
But yeah, I mean we'll have the X beam and
we'll be able to do forty through probably whatever the
antennas get up in the air. And I'm sure you know,
I'm gonna get overruled really fast, so we'll be okay.
But yeah, for what it's worth, we'll have everything from
ten to one sixty. So work us on any of
those bands, any of the modes. We might try satellite
if I can get Mike to get over his Mike shyness.
Speaker 1 (01:35:21):
I'm talking to you, Mike, but that's the guy to
do it too. He'll do it. Oh yeah, I heard
you froze.
Speaker 9 (01:35:29):
But you know, if he, you know, maybe can step
up the plate, we might actually make a satellite contact too.
Speaker 7 (01:35:34):
So but we'll be great to shoot a shot, you know.
Speaker 9 (01:35:38):
Yeah, Well, you're the right person to be able to
do that. You convert people over the sideband, so it
would be no problem. We'll do that for satellite for
Mike too as well.
Speaker 1 (01:35:48):
You are the You are the possel. Paul well Weather's
supposed to be good. I was checking the weather for
you guys. Weather looks good. Appreciate it. It's gonna be
a little cooler, but that's okay. That's why we have
hoodies and other things to keep us warm at night.
But you know, I even went to the website to
look at the map of the park and just a
(01:36:09):
few other things, and it looks like it's falling right
into place.
Speaker 11 (01:36:12):
And I'm very happy for you guys, So definitely thanks. Yeah,
the park was redone last year. It was closed for
the whole year, and they've redone it, so it looks
pretty good. I went up there when not go up
there eic a week ago or so two weeks ago. Yeah,
it looks really good and it should be. It should
be a nice time. I mean, as long as as
long as the bands cooperate. But my biggest fear is,
(01:36:35):
like these guys aren't worrying about it, but I'm worrying
about it. I've seen these guys late is getting Uh,
who's going to be working three o'clock in the morning, because, uh,
the grouch over here, if he's working, you know, it's
not going to be pretty.
Speaker 7 (01:36:52):
It'll be It'll be CQDA on seventy.
Speaker 2 (01:36:59):
Yoga up in the morning, what has had how many
drinks them?
Speaker 9 (01:37:04):
And the other side of the is it if you
find out that you know, we have a lot of
FDA contacts between one and four in the morning.
Speaker 1 (01:37:11):
Uh, we didn't run W S J T XX at all,
I promise, uh huh, but I won't ask any questions
because we won't be clear and enough.
Speaker 9 (01:37:23):
Although you know we're gonna be in your honor Steve
devoting or bringing a my little pony and pink blanket
for the first person that falls asleep and uh, you know,
the official chair.
Speaker 1 (01:37:34):
So yeah, what's the dinner? What's what's the dinner menu
for Saturday night?
Speaker 9 (01:37:41):
We've got a place up here, barbecue place called Messy
Mike's really good barbecue, local like kind of catering company.
There will be catering, full barbecue. So we're looking forward
to uh some ribs, some full pork, some uh you know,
uh briscuit and all the fixings and triming and everything's
like that. And you know, the the libations and other
(01:38:03):
stuff will be flowing.
Speaker 7 (01:38:04):
You know very much.
Speaker 1 (01:38:05):
So yeah, it'll be fun, excellent barbeque. Him.
Speaker 3 (01:38:08):
Sure, why is it surprising it happens there is barbecue him.
I didn't say good or bad. It's your it's your
poor consciousness test thinking. I mean, it's bad, guilty conscience talking.
Speaker 9 (01:38:22):
It would be the same thing if you said, you
know seafood in Texas, I'd be like, they have no.
Speaker 1 (01:38:29):
You could be on the coast, but you have been
seen they have gas stations that sell barbecue in New
Him I'm sure and Vermont I've seen them. It's you know,
gas stations, is right. Yeah, not to say.
Speaker 3 (01:38:43):
No, we want a buckets hockeys barbecue is yeah, it's
not great, and they've got excellent jerky, but they're barbecue.
Speaker 1 (01:38:57):
Is what about the cinnamon them in No, Yeah, that's good. Yeah,
that's about Yeah. In my opinion, New Hampshire, that ninety
three hooksat that would be a great place for a BUCkies.
Great thing because the amount of traffic that goes through
that area for people who want their their their liquor
(01:39:17):
their lotter tickets, the for you know, the foliage stuff,
the summer stuff, the winters.
Speaker 9 (01:39:22):
I mean, come on, is like for every gas station
that the state owns, plus the liquor stores on the highway,
a bucket should just be sitting right parallel to it
and it would be like golden.
Speaker 1 (01:39:32):
Yeah, and they don't see alcohol. Nope. Well the liquor.
Speaker 11 (01:39:36):
Yeah, I think it's kind of ironic. We put all
our liquor stores right on the highway and then have
and drive.
Speaker 1 (01:39:48):
Texas has drive through liquor stores. We do pack drive
through really. Yeah. Absolutely, is that a McDonald's.
Speaker 7 (01:40:01):
When we won an Old Orchard Beach, it was drive through, uh,
you know places where.
Speaker 1 (01:40:08):
But that's there. But yeah, but that's a that's only
a summer that's just a summer kind of Old Orchards
is just a summer place, right, I mean I've been
there twice.
Speaker 9 (01:40:16):
There's still they're not they're not as lively as they
usually are in the summer after Labor Day, but they're
still open.
Speaker 1 (01:40:23):
Mhmm.
Speaker 7 (01:40:23):
It's actually nice to go in the off God.
Speaker 1 (01:40:26):
Yeah, right. Guaranteed all the mass after Labor Day, the massholes.
Speaker 5 (01:40:37):
Away.
Speaker 1 (01:40:38):
That's that's why.
Speaker 7 (01:40:40):
Memorial Day.
Speaker 9 (01:40:42):
Yeah, if you ever come up to zero zero one,
you got to do it before you know, after Labor
Day and before Memorial Day.
Speaker 1 (01:40:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:40:51):
Yeah, I was thinking probably, like shoot, man, I keep
saying this, last said this last two years.
Speaker 2 (01:40:56):
I speaking like October ish Arcadie, but.
Speaker 5 (01:41:00):
May be getting cool, might get some snow, so.
Speaker 2 (01:41:04):
Would like would like April be better?
Speaker 1 (01:41:07):
They're not April. That's mud April April mud season.
Speaker 5 (01:41:15):
September it's the worst.
Speaker 2 (01:41:18):
When do they open then?
Speaker 6 (01:41:19):
What?
Speaker 9 (01:41:21):
Well, like you could get it after Labor Day, so
like the second or third weekend in September would probably
be perfectly fine.
Speaker 11 (01:41:29):
Okay, in the September, beginning of October, start getting into
late October.
Speaker 5 (01:41:33):
You're kind of hit or miss you, Joe Shane.
Speaker 1 (01:41:38):
Eybody's watching, so you're saying in the fall, in the spring.
Speaker 11 (01:41:44):
Yeah, mud season, Shane is so we get like feet
of snow and then it all melts and then it's
just mud everywhere.
Speaker 1 (01:41:53):
Okay, it's nasty.
Speaker 5 (01:41:56):
It's the worst time up here.
Speaker 1 (01:41:57):
You gotta wear your muck boats, Shane. You it's like
when one tie is in the mud and it's just
spinning and the other one like markers saw little Differently,
you never had muck boots. Look, you don't have muck boots.
About next even I have boots. I love mud boots. Yeah,
(01:42:21):
the same thing. Similar similar, Yeah, Joe Braw, Joe Brow,
what do you think it's that way for Joe B.
Speaker 4 (01:42:29):
That muck is different than mud. That muk is that
stuff is grabs. The old Man six we call over here.
Speaker 1 (01:42:39):
It's wet. Yeah, it's wet. It's more like glue. But yeah,
pull your shoes right off of you. I think I'll drop. Guys,
you look at the thirty videos and thanks look forward
(01:43:01):
to appreciate.
Speaker 3 (01:43:04):
Yeah for sure. Yeah, thanks for being on the All
Star system. Also, Eric, I appreciate you. You'd be down there. Shane,
I'm gonna text you about doing a balloon thing. So
if we can work it out, great, I'd like to.
If not, you worries, we have now until March or
April to work it out.
Speaker 1 (01:43:20):
Okay, he's got days after I would but I'll try.
Speaker 3 (01:43:28):
But if we can't make it happen, we can't make
it happen. It's okay, it's the last minute thing.
Speaker 2 (01:43:32):
He's probably good for next Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (01:43:34):
Yeah, just do it on a Tuesday night, probably, that's
probably good. It would be a good idea.
Speaker 3 (01:43:42):
I will just point it north to see if we
can live stream from the absolute you know. Yeah, So
all right, guys seventy three, thanks a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:43:51):
Thanks, Thanks, Yeah, I have to. I have to pull
a smoking eight. I'll be right back.
Speaker 12 (01:44:01):
I gotta Shane's Shane's dance card is get everybody wants
the balloon.
Speaker 7 (01:44:08):
I want to jump out of it.
Speaker 1 (01:44:11):
Yeah, so does Carlos. Unfortunately, insurance you can fall out accidentally.
Speaker 12 (01:44:20):
There we go, Carlos and I will just fall out
opposite side accidentally.
Speaker 1 (01:44:27):
So Eric, Eric, what are you guys going to be
using for logging software? What are guys going to do?
Speaker 9 (01:44:32):
Yeah, sogging software, Yes, fine, whatever, it's logging software and
it works. Yeah, we're doing two d X tens uh,
and we'll have a dedicated sideband station and dedicated digital
CW and we're running N three f j P and
logging you know, network mode, so they'll be able to
(01:44:55):
feedback to our streaming computer in the Grouch command center there,
and you'll be able to see all of the legit
update you know, to the minute stats as well as
uh everything else. And then you know, on top of that,
which I forgot to mention, was that just like Jason's
doing thirty days you know fundraiser, we're going to be
doing it during that twenty four hours a fundraiser for
(01:45:16):
t I. So you know, one of the things that
I got to you know, be you know very much, uh,
you know, set an example and witness to was you know,
having Hams in my life who you know did awesome
stuff and got me and my electronics teacher at the
high school involved in HAMM radio and and you know
us getting a ham radio club and stuff like that
that you know, our club we put you know, similar
(01:45:38):
teacher through you know TI and he came back. My gosh,
I'm jealous. The fact that what they give to the
TI teachers there, it is phenomenal for both the stuff
they come out of with knowledge but the stuff they
come out of with supplies. I mean Aaron Tenna's radios Adrinos.
I mean, the list is huge, and they just like
come out like totally like, oh, I got to go
(01:45:59):
do this. They're super excited. And so you know, the
one that we kind of sent from our club basically,
what are you doing? Paul wrote dear testing.
Speaker 1 (01:46:11):
What a way to do it? On the show. Yeah.
So with that, we're doing a big fundraiser.
Speaker 9 (01:46:16):
So you know, whatever we raise for the full twenty
four hours, we're going to donate that directly to t I.
So you know, come hang out and everything will go
to TI. We'd love to be able, Like we set
a goal for three grand this year, so we're hoping
you can actually head over to Lyffree Andham. Now there's
a link there if you want to donate if you
can't be there for the weekend. And like I said,
one hundred percent goes straight to Good Game and TI.
(01:46:38):
I'm still you know, and this is my little shameless plug.
I've been conversing with Steve constantly on and back and forth,
and I know he's working on a trailer, you know,
and a bunch of mods and stuff like that. So
I'm hoping he's coming up this way at least on Saturday.
But you know, we've got a slot open for him,
and you know, he come hang out with us, so
we'd love to have him. But ultimately, if you can't
make it either way, I understand because he's a very
(01:46:58):
busy man and doing a lot of awesome stuff. So
either way, after the twenty four hours, whatever we raise,
we'll definitely be donating to t I. And like I said,
I'm looking to break that three thousand mark goal for us.
If you know we can go bump me on that.
We totally be blown away. So you mentioned something about
the Grouch.
Speaker 1 (01:47:17):
Is is the Grouches trailer going to be turned into
like a command center kind of a network operations center
or like, what are we doing with Paul's trailer besides
sleeping you guys, He's kind of shack.
Speaker 12 (01:47:31):
Already in it, I know, right, Yeah, the Grouse command
center is the command center. Like, so yeah, everything, everything
is going to run through the computer that I'm on.
I've got back up seventy three hundred stations to my left,
so all we gotta do is run run the coax
(01:47:52):
out through the window and look it up to it
and we.
Speaker 7 (01:47:54):
Could sit here and offerate as well.
Speaker 1 (01:47:57):
Cool. Nice, cool. Yeah, you just have to, you know,
deal with Watson.
Speaker 7 (01:48:03):
And confined spaces like this. This this little studio space
right here is not very big.
Speaker 2 (01:48:11):
Looks big on TV.
Speaker 1 (01:48:12):
Though. Well that's why they make chairs that spin around
so you could just spin. Man, Is I had to
lose weight just to be able to Oh come on, really,
(01:48:33):
it's close.
Speaker 9 (01:48:34):
At your job, Joe, you get to catch Yeah, you
think you have to lose weight to jump parachute mobile? Nope,
you're just gonna do it. Paul's trailer. So yeah, I
mean outside of that, yeah, we're gonna have a blast.
We're definitely gonna be exhausted by the end of the weekend,
I'm sure. But like to just to add more to
(01:48:54):
the whole excitement, grouch was gonna jump hopefully Friday, Saturday.
But you know, we talked today and the damn weather
doesn't want to cooperate.
Speaker 6 (01:49:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (01:49:03):
I looked at the weather forecast last week and it
looked great through the weekend, and so I was really hopeful.
You know, I reached out to this guy to peprol
and I set it all up. They were cool with
me coming and basically doing whatever I wanted.
Speaker 7 (01:49:20):
But yeah, I checked. I checked the forecast today and.
Speaker 12 (01:49:25):
Friday there's going to be you know, overcast with the
you know, a little bit of brain and low clouds,
and Saturdays is going.
Speaker 2 (01:49:32):
To be like just remember anything, what's that shame said?
Anything greater than forty eight hours is a lie.
Speaker 12 (01:49:44):
I mean, things change, man, fair, you know, and and
if they it may well very well change, you know.
But as of right now, Sunday is looking like it's
going to be a good day. So I won't be
able to get the four e kids on Saturday. But
if even if I can get a parachute mobile in
(01:50:05):
on Sunday like that, that'd still be cool.
Speaker 7 (01:50:09):
I got, I got the parachute mobile down to Bluetooth wireless.
Speaker 1 (01:50:14):
Now, oh.
Speaker 12 (01:50:18):
Yeah, so I got the uh I got, I got
my old COMMS unit out of my motorcycle helmet, and
uh I retrofitted it to fit in my skydiving helmet,
and uh it just happens to sync up to.
Speaker 7 (01:50:31):
The FT three D.
Speaker 12 (01:50:33):
So wow, It's there's a little bit of a delay
in pressing the button on the helmet versus like the
PTT being active and then pressing it to PTT being unactive.
But I think it's totally doable, and uh, it'll be
nice to just not have wires connecting my helmet right
to the rest of me.
Speaker 1 (01:50:54):
So one o'clock Eastern Standard time, guys, let's just start
off here. One on Saturday, Eastern Standard Time starts on
the airthreight, yep, yep, Central, Now Central, you guys in
Central for the real time, right, Joe, You're right, only
time wait know, So, I mean that's gonna offer a
(01:51:17):
lot of opportunities based upon ban conditions for forty and
twenty and you know what that means. So yeah, yeah,
how many? How many contacts would you like to make
if you had a well, what's gonna number? Go ahead, Todd, Todd,
what's your what Odd's number? Wow, it's possible, It's doable.
Speaker 9 (01:51:37):
Yeah, I mean all the different modes. Yeah, I mean,
I'm saying five hundred mm based off of you know,
my luck in life. I'm a little shy at five hundred,
but I'd love to see a thousand, dude, you know,
blow my mind, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:51:52):
Well, so it all depends on how much adult beverage
is flowing well and how many contacts Paul gets on
seven dot two, one hundred. Hey, all she need is
their call sign. That's all. A contact is a contact.
That is true, that's true. So yeah, if anybody wants
to work.
Speaker 5 (01:52:10):
Us, I'm just I did a POTO on When did
I do it? On Sunday? No, Sunday Sunday in Maine,
and I hadn't.
Speaker 11 (01:52:17):
Done one in a long time, And I got fifty
one contacts in fifty minutes, right off, right off, right
off the bat. I mean I called c Q and
it just it was booming. So hopefully no knockout wood,
get a we get a day like that might work. Yeah,
(01:52:39):
I'm looking I'm actually looking forward to the middle of
the night because I don't drink that much and that's
when you get like Australia and New Zealand.
Speaker 5 (01:52:48):
And those things. So I'm hoping work some of those guys.
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:52:52):
So you made a good point because the other last
week and I was out here right where I'm sitting here,
and it's funny forty meters starts going why and I
love it. I love it working into North Dakota and
you know, you start going to Washington State a sketchewan.
I worked into Skatchewan andever. But then all of a sudden,
I'm watching the DX SAT and I'm looking at the
(01:53:13):
vks coming in and I could just just hear them.
And of course I'm playing beat the clock because I'm like,
I gotta be up at five am. Here it is
eleven o'clock my time, and I'm like, do I stay
out a little longer or do I you know, you know,
what do you do? But you know it's like you're
waiting very patiently and you can just start hearing them,
just start coming above the noise level. You know, for
(01:53:36):
like every half hour, every hour, and it's nice. It's
an incredible sensation to hear it.
Speaker 5 (01:53:41):
You know.
Speaker 11 (01:53:42):
Well, when I was working those third shifts, I was
getting Australia New Zealand about between like one and three
in the morning, like five nine and twenty meters.
Speaker 5 (01:53:51):
Crazy.
Speaker 11 (01:53:51):
Yeah, it was crazy. So but I mean that was
two years ago, and it was kind of like it
was just like I was getting bored to getting the
I was hoping to get someone else.
Speaker 5 (01:54:01):
I'm like, oh, another Australia, another New Zealand guy. But
I don't know. We'll see what happens hopefully, you know.
Speaker 11 (01:54:09):
And the other thing too is like I don't know,
Like if you look at like you go into parks
in the air, like twelve one o'clock in the morning,
there's no parks really open, like no one's really doing it.
So we'll be on there and there might be some
hunters that are gonna want to hunt you know, wait,
and we're gonna spread the word. You know, Hey, we're
doing a twenty four hour poda and blah blah blah,
(01:54:30):
spread the word and people will start so who knows, yep.
Speaker 9 (01:54:34):
Yeah, please guys, I don't want a six six six
total context, do not do not make that the target.
I'm sorry, like one thousand and eight fifties five six six,
Come on, you.
Speaker 7 (01:54:46):
Don't think we could have the coolest theme song ever?
Speaker 5 (01:54:49):
Yeah, I'm just gonna anyway.
Speaker 1 (01:54:51):
You don't have to have a sixty six and six.
Speaker 5 (01:54:53):
I'm cutting wires.
Speaker 9 (01:54:57):
You know what's gonna happen is that all of a sudden,
radio is are gonna stop acting, you know, working, and
you know intendas are gonna burst into flames and it'd
be like you know, and they'll be halfway through the activity.
Speaker 1 (01:55:07):
I agree, Eric. I got up today and I saw
thirteen gallons coming. I said, no, we're putting fourteen gallons
and I don't care if I gotta spill it or
put it in the I got back.
Speaker 2 (01:55:17):
I don't time.
Speaker 1 (01:55:19):
We're not pooring thirteen gallons. I agree with you. That's okay.
So is it once you come up after work? I
have to be in early on Sunday morning. I have
to be at work for six am on Sunday morning, okay, right,
and right now I'm supposed to work on Saturday.
Speaker 9 (01:55:39):
So the question is, though, really, is what would keep
you from going to work, Like, what incident would we
have to create in order for that to happen?
Speaker 1 (01:55:51):
Because we're we're we're called essential you maybe yes days,
the old BBS days right there, we have we have
mandatory staffing that we have to do for all three shifts,
and we got some people on vacation. So it's one
of those things.
Speaker 8 (01:56:11):
Of But as though, if you need a positive test result,
I nowhere to get one. I've got a really good
deal on a COVID test.
Speaker 1 (01:56:24):
You just take a sharpie, just put a sharpie and
you put a plus sign next with like it's a
pregnancy test. It's very simple.
Speaker 8 (01:56:29):
No, apparently if you drink what is it sunny d
just before you take it came around again.
Speaker 1 (01:56:37):
Really, that's a that's the internet.
Speaker 9 (01:56:39):
I heard that I was a teenager or something like
some you know this don't give you a chicken pox
or something like that. Well, you know, I guess we're
just not going to be able to.
Speaker 5 (01:56:54):
Next year. Next year? Can you get next year off
the same weekend? Weekend?
Speaker 1 (01:57:01):
So what I'm trying to do? Calendar what I'm trying
to do. Listen, I don't want to jinx it. I
want to go to Huntsville in twenty twenty six. Okay,
what does that have to do with us, well, because
because then I'm gonna I'm gonna know by April, I'm
gonna know where we're twenty six. Yeah, I would like
to go to Huntsville. So what I have to do
(01:57:21):
is just retire. That's what I have to do first,
I think, because it is just it's really interfering. Work,
is really interfering with my ham radio activities. I know
the feeling.
Speaker 11 (01:57:30):
Man, it's just so next year it's at twenty twenty six,
it's Huntsville, Greenville.
Speaker 1 (01:57:36):
I would like to do that, trust me, I would
really and I would love to do Xenia Day Daman,
They're they're all of them. I want to do, you know,
spread them out more. I would like to come down
to Texas for a while, you know, just get myself
in trouble for I would love to do two, probably
two weeks in Texas. I think I don't think a
week is going to be enough. But in August we
(01:57:57):
could all have a dream. So, you know, and thiefs.
I told you guys, I listen. My original plan was
to get a place somewhere in New Hampshire a second place.
Now I find you, guys, and now I have an
even greater incentive to get a second place, you know, So.
Speaker 7 (01:58:14):
I'll sell you in my house three years.
Speaker 9 (01:58:17):
You and Paul, or you know, just you and Paul
need to team up and get a chunk of land
somewhere in Maine, and you know you can go visit
it and Paul can camp out there in the summer spring.
Speaker 1 (01:58:26):
And I don't care if I gotta put a double why,
I don't care if I got to put a double
white up in there, yeah, or at the Hilton or
any you know, three to four star hotel, I don't care.
You know, you know best Western will does me find too?
I don't care. You know again, that's the beauty of
living so close to you, guys. It's only two and
(01:58:46):
a half hours, you know, plus our minds a little
bit of traffic. There's really, like I said, I already
mapped it out. I saw my different alternate roots of
getting up there. It's not hard at all. So it's
all I'm onna say. I know, But.
Speaker 9 (01:59:03):
Crouch is the only one that's been able to actually
confirm that you exist.
Speaker 1 (01:59:08):
Yes, we had a we had a great time I
firm in terms of like the New Hampshire, New Northeast area.
Speaker 9 (01:59:16):
Everyone else has seen them other places, and I know
you've actually been in the official you know, humble about.
Speaker 1 (01:59:21):
So I go out to Rhode I list listen, I
miss salty walp By. I think three weeks from going
out to Rhoda, I could not get out there, especially
his last week, and I wanted to surprise wall I
wanted to bump into him and say where are you.
I was going to text him and say I'll meet
you at the There's a great place. There's a place
called Frank's Nice, a little small, little clamshack, you know.
(01:59:43):
But again, just timing with work and family stuff, just
you know, so you know, I love my kids. They
come first, so totally totally. But if I can classify,
if I could put you guys on my tex to
turn it as my kids, that does say doesn't.
Speaker 9 (02:00:04):
Know there's some issues there for sure. You know, I
demand a lot. Todd, you know, I don't know what
he brings the table, and Paul.
Speaker 1 (02:00:14):
You know what, you know, we've got a lot of
you might and what family doesn't listen On that note,
let's go around the horn here. Let's let's start tying up,
tying up the shoelaces here, and we're gonna start shutting
this thing down. We're at the work a little bit
past the two hour mark. So grouch, you're first, what
do you want to say?
Speaker 12 (02:00:34):
Well, so for me on my channel, I've got a
I've got some videos out that there are channel members
only that are gonna go public here very shortly.
Speaker 7 (02:00:45):
Of course.
Speaker 12 (02:00:45):
You know, I'm gonna do lots of updates and videos
from twenty four hour photo because I was a bad
YouTuber and I didn't take ship for video.
Speaker 1 (02:00:55):
And Huntsville you went said having instead I did.
Speaker 12 (02:01:00):
Yeah, and and trust me, wait till the skydiving video
comes out, and that's.
Speaker 1 (02:01:04):
Gonna be phenomenal good, can't wait for it. Excellent, Right, Todd,
what about you? You got you got your spasual already.
Speaker 5 (02:01:12):
Yeah, I'll be cooking steaks. They're gonna be good. You
guys are gonna like it.

Saturday Sunday, and that's about it.
Speaker 1 (02:01:23):

(02:01:58):
tear things apart, you know, have fun, learn from each
other and you know.
Speaker 1 (02:02:01):

once a month Northeast Ham's goes live with like, I
don't want to say a happy hour, but it is
a fun time. It is fun just whether you're in
the chat, whether you come on stream, it is a

mojo back a little bit? Wintertime coming up?
Speaker 7 (02:04:30):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (02:04:31):
But I've got a couple a couple or two three

Speaker 1 (02:04:37):
One of them.
Speaker 8 (02:04:37):
I don't know how I'm gonna relate it exactly to
him radio, but we're going to do it. So, oh,
