Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yeah, who's your fans? Look Over the last you know
week or so, Indiana football has been been getting some love. Right.
You go into the Rose Bowl beat UCLA. Joe buck

(00:21):
is shotting your team out on Monday night football. You know,
Indiana returns home and kicks the living kicks the life
out of Charlotte for four quarters, like three point eight quarters.
There was like a little blip there early in the game,
but you know, overall Indiana and Alfornoh, the sky's the limit, folks.

(00:46):
And you know what, we try to keep things measured
on this podcast. We try to keep things within reason
on this podcast. Me maybe a little bit more so
than Matt. But this is not gonna be that kind
of episode, all right. This is gonna be one of
these episodes where we maybe discuss Indiana football as a

(01:09):
college football national champion. I don't know, I don't know.
We'll see, we'll see where this goes. Matt and I
will talk about ius ceiling four and oh start the
brunt of Big ten play coming up starting Saturday against Maryland,
and so much more here on episode three three to
three of The Hoosier Sound, Where we are the official

(01:29):
podcast of Indiana HQ We're recording this edition of the
Hoosier Sound on Sunday, September twenty second, twenty twenty four,
where I am your host Nathan Christian. Here with me
is my normal co host, Matt Lukens. Matt. The ap
Top twenty five has not been released yet today, we're
recording this on Sunday morning in the US. But Indiana's

(01:51):
fouri and Oh they're whooping teams left and right. They're
cruising to the finish line in all four of their
games so far. What are you your main first couple
takeaways as far as this IU football team is concerned. Well,
I think the last podcast we did was pre u
c l A. Correct.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
U c l A was terrible and I was kind
of right in context between and a very good IU
football team and U c l A you say, look terrible.
Then they went out and covered against LSU this weekend
in Baton Ruvere, so the to be fair, LSU also

(02:31):
might suck, but that's besides the point. I think this
shooer team is a lot better than than even a
lot of IU people are making it out to be. Again,
I college football was my first love, Like this is
this is the sport I grew up watching I will
always give you. I mean, when it comes to basketball,

(02:53):
I'm I'm pretty much a homer, so you have to
take everything I say with a little bit of a
grain of salt. I'm just I got those rosy Crimson
Creak colored classes. But h when it comes to to
IU football, I mean, I went to every game home
game in the band for four years, including two really

(03:14):
really bad years in Bloomington. I I you know, I
chose to put myself through that so I could go
to all the basketball games, which didn't turn out any better.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
But that's besides the point.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Like I my allegiance to IU football is less than
my allegiance to IU basketball none. And that's not to
say I don't love IU football, but I'm saying that
IU football has hurt me in ways that IU basketball
has somehow also hurt me. Yeah, but I don't have
the same connection to college football or college basketball as
I do to college football because growing up in Florida,

(03:52):
college football is king. So with all that information dumped
on you guys, this is the best IU for you know.
All that being said, all that information I just dumping years,
this is the best college football team I've seen.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
At Indiana, it's not close.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
I don't think it's crazy for me to say that
this team might end up being the best team in
the history of the school. And you know, people will
be like, what are you talking about it? I went
to the Rose Ball in the sixties, blah blah blah,
coach Mallory and that the coach, the coach Mallory really good.

(04:31):
Of course, look twenty twenty team, I understand. Look, I'm
listening to all of you guys, go this guy knows
nothing about college Well, I'm telling you college football is
way more competitive now than it ever was, way more
competitive now. The talent there's way more talent that the
the intricacy of college football has risen very close to

(04:57):
what NFL teams run now. When it comes to offenses, defenses.
You know, in the sixties and seventies, you could feel
a team of really good players. You just get lucky
on one or two guys and they can carry a
team back in those days.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
That's not the case anymore.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
You got to build a squad, You've got to build depth,
which is something that Nithan's going to talk about here
at some point in the podcast. Soon This team has
everything you want in a college football team, in a
winning college football team, and Signetti coach sig has has
laid a foundation for a winning program in Bloomington, which

(05:36):
you know, outside of the Bill Mallory area, really no
other coach has been able to do that or even
you know, come close to accomplishing anything.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
I mean, he's he's the first first coach.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
In the history of the school will start four and
oh during a season. I mean, how how pathetic, but
also how amazing is that that that you know he
comes in four games in four and oh, I get it.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
It was a cupcake schedule.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
You don't have to explain it to me, but you know,
I would be sitting here telling you guys, you know,
kind of pump the breaks if you know, let's say
we struggled with with Charlotte, if we struggled with FIU,
if we got out by the skin of our teeth
against UCLA, if we only beat Western Illinois by forty

(06:26):
instead of seventy, like you know, we I would be
pumping the breaks a little bit, being like, all right,
we still haven't played really anybody yet, and we're lucky
to be four and oh no, we are not lucky.
We're the first team in college football this year to
score two hundred points, and we get it in four games.
We're averaging fifty points a game. Do you know how
hard that is to do in the new college football game,

(06:48):
let alone in real college football, like with real people, you.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Know, full quarters and everything.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
Like, it's hard to do what they're doing, and they're
doing it and they're executing it at a very very
high level, and it's it's breathing confidence into me that
I will say that. How However, with all that, I
just said, Uh, this Maryland game is the litmus test.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
This is the put up, the shut up.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
This is this this, this is what it is.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Because you you played four teams that I think all
four are bad. I think FIU might actually be sneakily okay,
but either way, I think you've played at least four
mediocre college football teams. Maryland, by no means is good.
But Maryland is tricky to play and they have been

(07:40):
tricky to play for IU for a couple of years now.
They all I mean, I you Maryland games are always
crazy back and forth, and even remember last year's game, right,
So if if I can go out there and manhandle
a pretty decently talented Maryland team. I'm going to start

(08:01):
really believing. Sure you're gonna see me tweeting every five
minutes that I think we're going we're going to the
Rose Bowl. But I you know, for me, I'm I
I've come down the high that where I was at
earlier today for me, and I've come down. I've come
down off that high and I'm kind of riding a

(08:23):
very nice smooth and steady, steady uh tiva like.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Buzz where it's kind of like maybe potentially.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Yes, yeah, a couple of cigarettes involved.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Uh but.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
Uh yes, exc I I really think that that this
team is special. But they they got to prove it
this week, and hopefully the fans help them look and
show up. By the way, because I get, I get
the weather was bad, uh uh just too hot on Saturday,
but there should be no excuse. I mean, it's it's

(09:03):
going to be the last Saturday in September in Bloomington.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
It should be perfect, whether it should be beautiful football,
whether you need to get your butts to the rock.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
Yeah, and like look, I get it, okay, you know,
and I'm one of those people similar to you, Matt
that was at every home game. When I was an undergrad,
I was you know, I was willing to travel as
a fan to road venues across the you know, the
big ten footprint, the old school big ten footprint for
a drastically changed you know, you know, and then of

(09:38):
course you know the work we've done with India and HQ,
like like, I know, I want to be on board.
I use football before they've become cool, right, like they
were cool in twenty twenty, which is the only season
they've been really fascinating since the start of my lifetime.
Of course it began in twenty nineteen, right when they

(09:59):
want one eight games.

Speaker 4 (10:01):
But what what you know, the initial the high level
stance I'm taking as far as the fan base is,
there are a lot of loyal supporters of this team.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
There are a lot of loyal believers of this team.
But for the masses to start flowing to Memorial Stadium,
all right, this Maryland game is an example of one
where either a lot of people are going to show
up or I think a lot of people are gonna
see what what this team's about. Like. To be fair,
I use unranked. Okay, now, maybe that changes later on Sunday,

(10:35):
but later today, But I don't know, we'll see what happens.
And uh and uh, you know a lot of players
are you know in this Indiana team now is going
to get the proper Big ten test. But you know,
IU football has has deceived the students and the fans before.
So I think that's the reason why it's taking a

(10:57):
second for for the for the student section, for the
fan base to really really really hop in headfirst without
any hesitation, unbridled like, this is a team I can
believe in. This is a team worth spending six hours
on a Saturday to watch in person, driving pregame, tailgate

(11:19):
at the game. They're not gonna let me down, postgame celebration,
drive back home, that whole experience. You know, I think
Indiana fans, I think Indiana fans will gradually start believing
more and more because if you ask me, like maybe
the Tier one of college football is Texas, Georgia, Ohio State.

(11:42):
First of all, Georgia looks shaky at Kentucky last week.
Ohio State. Ohio State was in a tussle with Marshall
yesterday and looked unfocused with just just just like Indiana was,
and a thing with Charlotte for you know, a little

(12:03):
bit here and there. Now, Indiana also jumped out to
a ten to nothing lead yesterday against Charlotte. That's not
something Ohio State did against Marshall. But I'll give Tier
one Tier one props. But after we get past that,
Like Tennessee looks really good, Ole Miss looks really good,

(12:24):
Miami looks really good, but Alabama looks sloppy against South Florida.
For four quarters, Oregon struggled with Idaho, Penn State struggled
with Bowling Green. USC couldn't be a team that you know,
couldn't throw forward. Yesterday in Michigan they lost to Michigan.

(12:44):
Kansas State got wrecked by BYU Notre Dame embarrassed themselves
against Northern Illinois, who's not as good as we thought
they were. So is Indiana like the fifth best team
in college football? Sixth fourth? Like like I think I
think this is in play now. It's live, That's all

(13:05):
I'm saying. It's live right now. I don't know, but
Maryland's coming in Indiana is significantly favored according to the
sports books. Right now, looks like it's started at five
five and a half. It's moved out to seven and
a half, and I wouldn't be surprised if I got
it to eight, nine, possibly even tenore before kickoff on Saturday.

(13:26):
But the fact of the matter is, regardless of how
great you think this team is, first of all, the
sky is the limit. There is no there is no
achievement this season that Indiana cannot reach. Whatever you want

(13:49):
to call like whatever you whatever you want to say,
Indiana can do. They are capable of doing. Well. It happened.
I don't know, but Curtis work is winning the Heisman Trophy.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
I agree with it's in playing that I'm it's in play. Look,
it's not even just in play. It's a very realistic opportunity.
I think it like if IU goes eleven and one
and there one losses at Ohio State in a close
game and Curtis Rourke it continues to play the way
he does it has been playing. I really don't see
anybody else winning the damn thing.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
Like, I really don't.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
I mean, I think there should be a shout for
Travis Hunter.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Yeah, went out at Colorado.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
I know people hate Colorado and I understand that, but
that dude is the best wide receiver on the field
when he plays, and the best corner on the field
when he plays.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
It's nuts what he does. This is I mean, if
that team.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Had a better offensive line and you know, probably some
better coaching, uh, they they would probably be a top
ten te.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
But they don't, which makes them fun.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
By way, they had a crazy Colorado had a crazy
game yesterday.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
That was nuts. That was nuts. Yeah, Carson Beck, right,
cam Or Jackson Dark, all these guys are capable of
Niko Yamalaieva. Yeah, he could win the Heisman Trophy. You know,
Kurtz Signetti could win Coach of the Year. Indiana could
make the College Football Playoff as an at large team.

(15:17):
Indiana could win in Columbus. Indiana could win the Big
Ten Championship. Indiana could win as far as the College
Football Playoff is concerned. I'm not saying it's likely. I'm
not saying it's happening, but it is realistic. It is
reasonable to think Indiana can do that. They're a professional.
They're a professional football team. Like you talked about how

(15:39):
advanced college football is, this is an NFL team playing
college football. Just as far as their technical discipline, just
as far as their focus, as far as their level
of sharpness and execution, are there blips in certain games
like we saw against FYU or UCLA or Charlotte of
possession here at possession they're short. That's what makes them
a college football team. But as far as their age,

(16:02):
their experience, their focus, their preparation, their professionalism, everyone's bought
and everyone's in the same lockstep. Hopefully no one gets arrested.
All I'm saying is they're playing discipline locked in attentive
football specific you know, detail oriented. They committed a bunch

(16:23):
of penalties against UCLA, cleaned it up only couple yesterday
against Charlotte. I think there was just really one before
garbage time before that took place. The depth is insane, man,
The depth on this team is unreal. I looked at
guys like Donovan McCully and Keyshawn Williams and Jacob Mangam

(16:43):
Ferrar and DJ Warnell, and you know, these are guys
who are third four stringers coming into the game. Hell,
Sam West, yesterday, you talk about tension to detail. True
freshman tight end comes into the game for a couple snaps.
They script a play for him, he's in the right spot,
he makes the catch, he picks up thirty five yards

(17:05):
to cross midfield and go into a phone in terror.
So right as a true freshman from State of Indiana
who's coming and he's ready to go, he's focused, he's prepared,
he knows what his responsibility is and he carries out
his job. This team is focused, they're prepared, they're disciplined.
They're not you know, Ohio State levels of explosive or

(17:25):
Georgia levels of defensive toughness and muscle and NFL scout
prospect talent or whatever. But Kurt Sinnetti knows exactly what
he's doing with this team. And they're old and right now,
in college football, you win with you're twenty and you're
twenty one, and you're twenty two years old. And Indiana's

(17:47):
got a bunch of guys that can do that, and
they are gonna skick you in the teeth or they're
gonna throw a fifty yard touchdown on your head. Because
Curtis Rourke is playing quarterback five oho one right now,
he's playing quarterback at a PhD level. He is picking
teams apart on third down. He's he's he's getting into
a rhythm with this teammates. He's spreading the football around.

(18:09):
I don't know how it would game plan against Indiana,
but as far as I'm concerned, Matt, this is a
this is a professional football team. They're prepared football team.
They remind me of some of some of the really
good Wisconsin teams that we watched over the years, like
the Russell Wilson Wisconsin teams that were able to move
the ball down the field through the air, but also

(18:30):
have a running game, also have a defense. It reminds
me of you know, you know, this is what I'm saying,
you know, some of these teams that are just so,
you know, the cold, like a little bit of the
end of the a little bit of like Mac Brown,
right and you know Texas at the end of the
Mac Brown tenure. I'm not necessarily talking about the team
that made the National Championship, but some of those teams

(18:51):
that were solid and reliable and professional and focused. This
is what I see you with this team. And I
just don't think anything is off limits. No self imposed
limitations is the terminology that Kurt Signetti likes to use.
Am I Crazy year. If there are any limitations to
this team, if there are any potential weaknesses for this team.

(19:15):
You know, what, do you see what areas can Indiana
improve and if they really want to, if they really
want to reach their maximum potential this year.

Speaker 2 (19:26):
I mean I I think Kirk Signetti said that he's
not imposing, you know, limitations on this team himself, right.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
So it's his phrase his term.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
As fans at this point should believe him, and that
really should plemitation.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Trust I can trust him.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
I will say I hate that the sentence is going
to come out of my mouth because then I'm going
to take all responsibility if it happens. But there is
a world in which this season goes off the rails.
That is the health and safety of Art. I'm not
gonna say his name. I'm gonna say our quarterback. I'm
not tempting fate with us. I'm just gonna say the

(20:04):
guy that catches football from the center.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
That dude, he's is so impressive.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
He's so I mean again, we're talking about Heisman Trophy
for him. I don't think that's out of the realm
of possibility. This team goes eleven and one when they
were three and nine last year and they bring him
him to be the QB and he takes Tavin Jackson's
job from last year and and make not only makes

(20:32):
it own, he basically invents a new way to play
the position at Indiana. Turn the ball over yet, I mean,
let's knock up with he may he may not return
it over the rest of the year.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
At this point, who knows.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
The receivers. The receivers don't drop footballs. The offensive line
gets push, the running backs find gaps and find holes.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
The defensive line gets pressure while only rushing four. The
linebackers actually tackle, the coroners actually cover, The safeties do
their thing, you know. I would say that the one
weakness of this team is actually the defensive scheme. I
think there's certain teams that this team is just going

(21:21):
to struggle against. I think one of which is we're
going to talk about whether we think we're good, they're
good or not. But the Michigan Wolverines, I think a
team that can move and rush and run the football.
I think our house stay the same way the way
they play with Quinn Shawn Judgkins, you know, the way
both those teams run the football. Charlotte was able to

(21:43):
move the ball, running the ball against this team. They
were for a couple drives getting like six seven eight
yards of carrying yep on this team, and that's that's
the defensive line is so aggressive that they actually extend
pass the runner.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
Of the football.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
There's been a couple of times where I mean, uh,
you know, yeah, car and and Camara and the carpenter
and they're just behind the ball carrier, like they they
got so deep into the backfield that they Charlotte had

(22:25):
already given the ball off or or was in the
process of getting the ball off, and they were behind them.
Like they get off the line so fast, so quick,
you can really obviously tell that they they they pay
attention and film to the snap count, to the process
in which the quarterback normally goes through to start plays

(22:47):
and whatever. And there they were getting really good jumps
against Charlotte. They've been they've be getting good jumps all year.
But sometimes they're getting too good of a jump because
you kind of want you kind of want your d
lineman to to sort of be like ponds and in
a in a in a chess game, right you you
want them to kind of be the first line of
defense that you know, you kind of have to skip

(23:08):
over first and and kind of go around and work
your work around a little bit so that those linebackers
can find those those those gaps that they're supposed to
hit and and and act, and the safety can come
down and help stop the run, uh you know, hopefully
at the line of scrimmage. And and they're they're just

(23:28):
they're too fasts. They're just they're just they're just getting
there too fast, and they're creating these big holes by
just kind of over pursuing on run plays. And so
that that's that's the one weakness that I really see
in this team.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
But I mean the wide receivers deep, I mean, with.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
Donald mccoley is a backups are maybe our best player
last year. Uh, you know, I thought we were gonna
miss Jalen Lucas a lot in the running back room.
We go and get Kaylon Black and and Elijah Green
and and Tyson Lawton and Justice and as Justice Allison.

(24:06):
I mean, we have a foe headed monster in the backfield.
There the nice change of pace. You have Ellison who's
just gonna do it all back super steady. You know
what you're gonna get from Tyson Lawton runs like he
wants wants to hurt somebody on on the on the
other side of the ball. And I freaking love that

(24:27):
every time he he runs with such ferocity it's it's insane,
such power and added it's awesome. And then Green and
Black they're both you know, their last names might be colors,
but they got they got people get you know, grasping
for for air because because they're so fast, both of them,

(24:50):
the change of pace is crazy.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
So I mean, I can just for a second on that,
you know, I think Kurt Signetti might honestly be re
inventing strategy at the running back position right now in
front of our very eyes. It's it's interesting, he almost
he almost uses it like a pitching staff in in
the major leagues, where it's like modern and and Ellison

(25:15):
are like your starting pitchers six seven innings. And then
he's using Elijah Green as the closer. And maybe this
is all just because Indiana is playing weak opponents right now,
even though like you said, U see, LA looks better
than advertised and you know, we'll see. But could this

(25:36):
be the start of a trend. Could Kurtzignetty be starting
a trend in college football or the NFL where in
the fourth quarter, when the defenses are worn down, you
bring in somebody with fresh legs to push the pile
forward and to make guys who are tired and who
are worn down mistackles, and then Elijah Green just racks

(25:58):
up yards and touchdown because of that. Yeah, it's just strategy.
It's philosophy. And I'm never gonna ask Signetti if I
get the chance to that question, because I don't want
Indiana to really reveal their secrets. But I'm kind of
propelling this. I don't know if it's a strategy or
conspiracy theory or what like. I think Elijah Green is
the is the Mariano Rivera of running backs right now,

(26:22):
where he just comes in in the fourth quarter where
defenses are worn down and they're tired. And we'll see
if it happens against Maryland and Northwestern coming up in
the next couple of weeks. But I'm curious to see
if maybe Kurt Signetti is reinventing strategy a little bit
as far as as far as that position is concerned.

(26:44):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (26:45):
I didn't expect to Mariana river reference on this podcast,
but it's.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
Where we are, all right, guys, We're gonna talk about
Maryland coming up here. We're gonna talk about a whole
slew of Indiana things here over the next, over the
next you know, fifteen twenty twenty five minutes or so.
But first it's time for who won the week this
past week in i U sports and uh, and look,
we're gonna just shout out, you know, as far as

(27:13):
our Indiana men's basketball team is concerned, they went out
and you know, they it was great to see them
honoring Victor Oladipo. As far as the Hall of Fame
inductee over the course of this past weekend, of course,
a number of other former Hoosiers inducted as well, Daniel o'roor,
Caleb Ashore, Jody Jody Reddington, Kevin Barry, and Max Gervin

(27:38):
as well. It's always fun if you get the chance
to go to the IU Hall of Fame inductee ceremony.
You know, I'm not sure if they're still available to
the public, but if so, Uh, you know, it's kind
of a it's kind of a a sort of a
it's like a night at a i U sports museum,
except except everyone is present and available and giving speeches

(28:00):
and and it's it's kind of fascinating as far as
the real life thing is concerned. And of course all
the depot showed up at the football game yesterday and
the KBTN cameras got him holding up Miller Cops Indiana
versus everybody. It's his shirt clothing line. Is that fair
to say at this point? And so yeah, we give

(28:20):
him a shout out there as well. And so you know,
congrats to all the EU Hall of Fame inductees. Uh
and I can't wait to see who gets who gets
the call next year. Folks, if you enjoy our show,
leave us a review, tell a friend, share our links.
Your support really helps us grow this podcast and reach

(28:42):
over social media. So like our stuff, share our stuff.
That's how we continue to grow bigger. You know, we
talked about hey, you know, hopefully you know, I can't
wait to see which Hoosiers get a Hall of Fame
call next year. I think you might have some EU
Athletics Hall of Famers on this football team right now,
Matt as we kind of look up and down this
roster before we hop into the Maryland game. You know,

(29:05):
we've talked about Curtis Work. I think it's safe to
say Curtis Work is his team's MVP right now. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
When you say that, uh yeah, there's no other choice.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
Who do you think is the best defensive player on
this team right now? You know, man, and I kind
of look at you know, Aiden Fisher is excellent, no question,
I understand that. Okay, Look, I'm not saying I'm a hater.
I'm not an Aiden Fisher hater, all right, But Jalen

(29:38):
Walker there's something about the way he plays that has
really popped on TV each and every week. And then
you know, I look at Mikale Kamara two coming off
the edge, and I don't necessarily know he's the best
defensive player on this team, but I think McHale Kamara
might be the top NFL draft pick on this team.

(30:00):
We talk about the twenty five draft, and so I'm
kind of paying attention to that, especially with the speed
he has off the edge. And once we get into
big ten play Mikhail Kamar right now, who's getting so
many pressures into the backfield on quarterbacks, I would love
to see him convert some of those into more sacks.
But look, I can't really dispute your comment there as

(30:20):
far as Aidan Fisher being the best defensive player on
this team, as far as as far as guys that
you haven't mentioned yet, who's been the most pleasant surprise
for you on this team, the guy that's really stepped
up that you didn't expect.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
That's a good question. I would say maybe it's like
some of the wide receivers. I would say, I thought
surrat was gonna be good. I'm very pleasantly surprised. I'm
very pleasantly surprised by Miles Cross. I'm very pleasant. Sorry,

(31:01):
Miles Price summary both, Yeah, both. That's what I'm trying
to say is both Miles Price and Miles Prest Like
I've been by both.

Speaker 3 (31:10):
Miles.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
Uh. They they have really really impressed me, truly. I
mean they've they've played their way into pushing our best
wide receiver out of the rotation for for wide receivers
right like, uh, and well, I think Miles Price had

(31:31):
led the team in receiving last game and had he
just runs such good routes, you know, Keishaun Williams, step
Omar Cooper, the way Omar Cooper said he.

Speaker 1 (31:42):
Yesterday.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
But I mean he's been playing so so well throughout
the season, and so I knew Surrat coming in was
going to be good. And then I thought number two
was gonna be down to McCauley. They've just this team
has pushed donod mccor or the wide receiver room in general,
pushed Don mccoley basically out the wide receiver rovasion yep,

(32:05):
which is insane to me.

Speaker 1 (32:07):
Yeah, it is no for sure for me. I'll look
at the defensive side of the ball as far as
pleasant surprises, because you know, all the players we mentioned
so far sort of a star level. They've really impressed me,
no question about it. But you know, I look at
the safety Sean Asberry. He's come over. Remember he was
not a JM you guy. I think I believe he
came more from Old Dominion, And yes, it's been noticeable, man.

(32:32):
I mean he also looks like somebody that might eventually
make his way into the NFL. Yeah. As Barry went
to Boston College and then Old Dominion before coming here
Indiana in twenty twenty, when they were very very good
at Jamar Johnson patrolling that safety position at an NFL level,

(32:55):
you know, and Jamar Johnson, I believe was an NFL
draft pick went to Denver. You know, we're talking about
someone who is a game changing player. I think Sean
Asbury plays that position a little bit differently, but regardless,
you know, I think I think NFL teams might look
at him and say, hey, this dude might be able
to play linebacker if we're in a nickel or a

(33:17):
dime coverage. Asbury is somebody you can bring freely into
a blitz. Honestly, as a Bears fan, Asberry reminds me
a lot of Jakwan Brisker when I watch When I
watch Asbury play, He's able to do a few different
things on the football field. And so you know, when
I look at when I look at Sean Asberry, you know,
I'm sitting here and I'm like, Wow, this guy is
so reliable. Especially now as you go into facing teams

(33:40):
they like to throw the ball a little bit more.
Especially when you look at Maryland, right, you know, that's
going to be a massive, massive test for Indiana Secondary
coming up here. And then what we've seen with Dylan Rayola,
as far as a pastor is concerned, will Rogers on
Washington is going to throw the ball a decent bit
before Indiana once again plays option football teams like Michigan

(34:02):
and Michigan State. But Asberry has been really good. I
loved what I watched with him so far. Between now
on the end of the season, Matt, who are one
or two players that you think will need to make
a big difference, who will need to step up? Maybe
they haven't done so quite yet, but who are one
or two players that you think, man they have if

(34:24):
they play well, Indiana can really accomplish a whole lot
of stuff this season.

Speaker 2 (34:31):
Well, I mean it's only been four games, but D'Angelo
pond is only defended against two passes, so you would
think that has played better teams.

Speaker 1 (34:43):
That's a great He's he's gonna have to defend the
ball more.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
I mean, the teams have just been avoiding throwing to
whoever he's covering, which is a good sign, by the way,
because I mean, he's that good. But as teams get more,
you know, better and more, they will start throwing in
his direction. Sure, and this this team hasn't for how

(35:08):
how many you know, how much success they've had, really
hasn't forced a ton of turnovers. So I'm I'm looking
at Dangela Pons to maybe be that guy that can
kind of give Indiana some game winning or game clutching
plays as teams have to start throwing towards their number

(35:30):
one target that hopefully dangel Upons will be covering. And
then on offense, I would say I want to see
even more from Tyson Lawton. I think he's just he's
the kind of the back that I U is going
to need during games that are close and they got

(35:53):
a third and to a third and one, and they
just need somebody who just doesn't really care that there's
a guy standing in front of him and just sees
green grass behind him and just runs like the guy's
not there forward to get a couple of yards. Like
they need that power back. So if he can stay
healthy and stay I mean he's average five yards of

(36:15):
carry last game. If he can stay productive like that,
this team is going to be in a good place.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
Yeah, that's a great call for me. Offensively, Zach horton
the tight end, you know, I think he's a really
really good player. He's someone who can I watched that
I see forty four flying across my screen. It's a
tight end and I'm like Dallas Clark, and I know
he's not down Sark, but like Zach Horton is somebody
that once the weather starts getting colder, you know, I

(36:40):
can definitely see Curtis work relying on him on On
Horton a little bit more. Especially when you get down
into the red zone right now, you really really want
to avoid kicking field goal and kick the field goal yesterday,
keep the field goal against FYU on a red zone trip,
I want to see Indiana continue to convert those possessions
into touchdowns at a high level. I think Zach Horton

(37:02):
will really help as far as that situation is concerned. Defensively,
I'm really looking at the interior of Indiana's defensive line
as a group that are going to have to be
really really critical the rest of the way. I think
about CJ. West, James Carpenter. I love Tyreek Tucker, who
rotates in and does some you know, he makes some

(37:23):
noise when he does step into the game. Marcus Burris
is part of this group as well. I want to
see that group of four players really do some damage.
Now as we start to get into the fake of
big ten play. You are going to need these guys
if you are right, and Indiana is number fourteen in

(37:46):
the country hosting number twelve Michigan, You're gonna need those
guys to make some really big plays. When Indiana hosts
Ohio State, Ohiosta can throw the ball, but they also
have Judkins and and Henderson, You're gonna need those defensive
tackles to really really step through there and do some damage.
So those are the guys that I'm paying attention to
as far as Indiana's concerned and seeing and seeing those

(38:08):
players step up and develop so that you could potentially
reach the college football playoff. I think that is in
play here, folks, that there is the same normal sentence
that we are saying here on this podcast. Matt Maryland
comes to town on Saturday. This is, like you said,
a you know, sort of a more legitimate Big ten
test than UCLA is, even though this game is in Bloomington.

(38:30):
Is a new Eastern start on Big ten Network. As
of nine to thirty am, Eastern Indiana is a seven
and a half point favorite. The Hoosiers remain a seven
and a half point favorite here with an over under
of fifty four and a half. So the books think
this will be something like a thirty three No, that's
not right, like a thirty one twenty four type of game,

(38:54):
thirty one to twenty three, thirty one twenty four type
game at Memorial Stadium on Saturday. This is a solid
Maryland team. You know. Billy Edwards has taken over at quarterback.
Edwards scored a game winning touchdown in Bloomington a couple
of years ago after Talia got injured. Now Edwards is
taking you know, he has taken over as the team
starting quarterback and it's been pretty seamless. He got the

(39:16):
call over MJ. Morris, who transferred in from another school,
and Billy Edwards has won the job and he's been really,
really good. He and Curtis Work are both across a
thousand yards passing and that is because Billy Edwards, unlike
Curtis Work, doesn't really spread the ball around. He force
feeds the guy, and he force feeds the guy a lot.
It's really a cut two headed monster. As far as

(39:37):
receivers are concerned. As far as ty Felton Cayden Prather,
ty Felton has forty one catches and six hundred four
receiving yards on the season, Cayden Prather twenty one catches
of his own and over the two hundred yard receiving mark.
Maryland is three and one, though, Matt, they stubbed their
toe at home to Michigan State in the game that
they just really really should have won. You look at

(39:59):
this Maryland and team Matt, what are some of their
strengths and how do you see Indiana fair against the
Terps coming up on Saturday in Bloomington.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
I think a lot of people are taking this game
for granted. I think a lot of people see this
game as an automatic win. I don't see that. I
think this is a fight stye Maryland team. Again, I'd
be terrified of this game if it was at Maryland,
but thank god it's in Bloomington.

Speaker 1 (40:28):
I mean, they have two wide receivers on their team that.

Speaker 2 (40:33):
You know, make up more than half Yeah, I'm doing
the bath right now, make up more than half of
the receptions for the team. That's type type Felton and
Caden Praither. I mean the two of them have sixty
two catches of the one hundred and ten catches on
the team nuts, So I mean those are the guys

(40:54):
that you're No, it's not a democracy. I would say
the keys to a fray you winning this game is
is You're never gonna be able to take those guys
completely out of the game. But making those other guys
in the rotation that have, you know, a max of
nine catches throughout the season beat you. I think that's

(41:15):
that's what I'm looking for again, a big game out
D'Angelo ponds right like he's he's got. This is the
best wide receiver he's faced so far in a Hoosiery uniform.
So you know, taking or at least giving type Felton
headaches all day is a very important thing. But yeah,
this this Maryland team plays offense. I'm not sure they

(41:37):
play defense very well, but they do play offense. They're
a very offensive minded team. And I could totally see
this this game being the game where the Hoosier defense
finally struggles multiple drives in a row. I mean, we
kind of saw it a little bit against Charlotte in
the first half where they kind of give up two touchdowns.

(41:58):
But I really do think that this is the kind
of game where after who's your defense not feeling up
for it on Saturday? I mean they could be in
for a really, really long day of staring at Maryland
catching asses up and down the field.

Speaker 1 (42:12):
Yeah. I think that's a very very fair point. You know.
The one thing is I do like Indiana's matchup in
the trenches. Something I said against the you know, in
the trenches, it's something I said in the UCLA game.
I think on both sides of the ball, Indiana is
straight up a better team on the offensive line and
on the defensive line than Maryland is. So I really
want to see Indiana make sure your Curtis work is clean.

(42:34):
I want to see the defensive line fluster Billy Edwards
and try to force him out, try to force him
to make throws because it's it is true. I just
you know, I think Maryland you just kind of budget
the terms to throw for two seventy five every game,
like you just kind of you just kind of like
you could be Georgia, right, Like you know, I mean

(42:58):
it's just Maryland somehow, right, Tell you talk about a
little left Maryland as the as the Big Tens, all
time leading passer like whatever whatever they've got going from
a pass catching standpoint, like you can you basically do say,
look all right, two fifty. Okay, I mean maybe maybe

(43:20):
I'm I'm throwing a self imposed limitation here at Kurt Signetti,
but uh, you know, it just feels like two point
fifty is guaranteed. But the question is, how do you
prevent it from getting to three hundred? Getting How do
you prevent it from getting to three fifty? How do
you you know, make sure that after Maryland catches the ball,
you push them out of bou until you tackle them,
get them on the ground, get them to second down,
third down? How do you get sacks? Right? How do

(43:43):
you get sacks and push Billy Edwards off schedule and
make life difficult for the Turps that way? That's That's
what I'm going to be paying attention to. I love
Indiana's passing gave them this matchup, though, because you you
talked about this as well. Maryland's defense is kind of wobbly,
to say the least. You know, they do have a

(44:03):
couple of solid defensive linemen across the board, but you know,
the terms really haven't faced a proper passing game yet
this season, and even then, like it hasn't looked all
that great as far as Maryland is concerned. Even when
they've gone up against Aiden Chiles in Michigan State. You know,
the Virginia's I think Anthony Calandria is the quarterback for

(44:24):
Virginia in that game. Yep, Yet he wants and so
you know, it's like, you know, this Maryland secondary, it's
not quite what I would expect. Villanova couldn't throw a
proper forward pass yesterday either in you know, the week
four game against Maryland, so all in all right, like
I you know, I do think Maryland's weakness on defense

(44:46):
is Indiana's strength. So you definitely do hope Curtis Work
can go out there win this game via throwing the football,
get up to three twenty five, three point fifty, you know, hope. Hey, look,
I don't know if we'll be setting single game passing
records because some of those Indiana teams and then Kevin
Wilson era just threw the ball recklessly. But you know,

(45:08):
I would love to see Curtis Work go out there,
put up another three hundred and continue his march to
the Heisman Trophy, which we know he's gonna win obviously.
And so look, I think that's where I think that's
where things are at as far as Curtis work is concerned.
I love this matchup as far as elijahsur At, Miles Price,
Omar Cooper against the terp secondary. So I'm hoping for

(45:28):
good weather. It's a little bit too early to call
call that out, but you know, if we do get
some good weather on Saturday, I could definitely see both
teams trying to throw the ball quite a bit. We're
gonna talk about a predictions here who we think is
gonna win this game, any other stuff that picks that
that we'd like to pick out as far as this
matchup is concerned. In just a second, but first it's

(45:49):
time for our social media shout out. Folks. If you

Your support really helps us grow this podcast in eachqual
passing passionate AU fans such as yourself on Twitter, Facebook,

as well as at Indiana HQ on Instagram. Met We're
not Indiana HQ, but what are we in exactly? You

(46:12):
can find us there, Share our stuff, like our stuff,
you know, you know, spread the word. That's how we
will continue to grow here on this podcast, Matt, you
know it's Indiana team. I do like what I'm seeing here.
Last year was you know, the Maryland game was pretty
much the low the low point in the Tom Allen era.

(46:34):
If you ask me, you know, you might argue it
was the Maryland the Akron game at home. But yeah,
en up winning, You ended up winning. And so I'm like,
I don't know if I can call the low point
of a coach's tenure a victory. But it was September thirtieth,

(46:55):
twenty twenty three, when not only did Indiana lose forty
four to seven to Maryland, they were down thirty seven
to three. Okay, I mean this was this was over
before it started. Indiana got wrecked on a fourth down
attempt in Maryland territory. I was at the start of
the game. They got wrecked on a fourth down attempt

(47:16):
at midfield in the second quarter. I think Tavian Jackson
was thrown to the wolves. Whale Bell got fired after
the game ended. A year later, things have changed, Things
have changed drastically Maryland. Maryland is kind of on the
path that they've always been. But this Indiana team has

(47:38):
reversed fortunes one hundred and eighty degrees since that game,
Maryland was five and zero after they beat the Hoosiers
last year. Indiana could potentially return the favor. As we
talked about this, mat Iu is a seven and a
half point favorite, with that over under fifty four and

(47:58):
a half. Thirty four to twenty thirty one twenty four
is roughly the prediction in the sports books. Who do
you think wins this game? Matt, and by how much.

Speaker 2 (48:10):
I believe my Hoosiers. I think Indiana wins this game.
And I think it's like forty two twenty eight.

Speaker 1 (48:19):
Oh okay.

Speaker 2 (48:23):
I think Maryland's gonna be able to move the ball
on this team, and especially since I feel like no,
I don't feel like I know. This team hasn't played
an offense near the caliber of Maryland's so far through
four games. There's going to be a bit jarring for them.
But it would be a good learning lesson At the
same time, I mean, we shouldn't see a team that
spreads the ball out like Maryland. Maybe for the rest

(48:48):
of the year.

Speaker 1 (48:49):
Maybe Washington. I think Washington. I don't know how well
they do. Washington.

Speaker 2 (48:54):
Yeah, Washington will try to do the same thing but
not at the same level Maryland does that.

Speaker 3 (49:00):
I think Washington's worse at it.

Speaker 2 (49:04):
So yes, you're right, So the what until Washing, until
the Washington game, we won't see a spread like Maryland's.
So I mean, it's like playing It's like a playing
a different basketball team and non conference that kind of
has a different kind of defensive scheme. Like it's good
to get some tape to watch against a team that

(49:24):
kind of plays like Maryland does, because who knows, maybe
we go eleven and one and we play a team
in uh the feetball playoff in the CFP that that
that runs a bit of us a spread like this.
Maybe they're a group of five team that we're playing
in the in in one of the one of the
first games. Right, So it's good to play a team
like Maryland. It's just they're also terrifying because they could

(49:47):
very well put up like, you know, four hundred yards
passing and we could look up.

Speaker 1 (49:54):
You know, on Saturday. We want Bama, We want Bama,
We want a Miami. I guess maybe maybe Tennessee sort
of sort of maybe not saying they run a spread,
but you know, open.

Speaker 3 (50:10):
Tennessee runs runs, Tennessee opens up that they run. It's
very spready.

Speaker 1 (50:16):
Yeah, I also do think Indiana wins this game. You
know you're at home, You're you're going to go into
this game. I'm assuming with the same focus and discipline
and attention to detail that you have in previous games.
It's nice to trust a coach. It's nice to trust
a coaching staff that I think will put the Hoosiers

(50:37):
in position to succeed. Maryland. I think they're okay, but
I think Indiana is really really good, and so so
I think Indiana. I do think this game goes over
as well. I do think Indiana wins this game thirty
eight to twenty. I think that's kind of how this

(51:00):
one goes And you know, I think Indiana takes care
of business. I think it tested. But what I'm looking
forward here. What I'm looking forward to here is Indiana
maybe forcing a couple of Maryland field goals. Meanwhile, IU
converts these possessions into touchdowns and create some separation that way.

(51:21):
I love trusting this staff in developing a game plan
to slow down ty Felton and Caden Prayther in this
passing offense. I could definitely see where Indiana potentially just
forces some of these other guys to beat you, and
if they do, then so be it. But I don't
think Maryland will be able to do that. So that's

(51:42):
how Matt and I see this Indiana Maryland game. We
think Indiana go to five and oh. We both think
Indiana go to six and oh after playing Northwestern in
a couple of weeks. If Indiana is not six and oh,
I got to ask some serious questions about what happened. So,
you know, hopefully we don't have to go down that road.
Anything else stand out to you as far as the
Big Ten, Matt, you know a lot of action across

(52:03):
the conference over the last week. Is anything is it?
Has anything popped to you as far as the conference
is concerned before we wrap up here on this Sunday.

Speaker 2 (52:14):
I think the Big Ten is deeper and at the
same time worse than I thought. And how and how
what I mean by that is uh, I think I
think I use really good.

Speaker 3 (52:26):
I think Illinois is really good.

Speaker 2 (52:28):
I think Nebraska, even though they had a bad showing
and they kind of threw the game at home against Illinois,
I think they're not bad because I think Illinois is
that good.

Speaker 1 (52:38):
Ohio State Oregon or.

Speaker 3 (52:39):
National title contenders, Penn States.

Speaker 1 (52:41):
Right, the Rutgers is good.

Speaker 2 (52:44):
Iowa Iowa might be good, even though they have they
have a loss to Iowa State.

Speaker 3 (52:53):
I don't think. I don't think Wisconsin is good.

Speaker 2 (52:55):
And and then I think there's like there's like those
in Indiana's in that group. Obviously, you know, there's that
sizeable group of teams and USC and Michigan which I
just named about ten teams. And then there's a cliff. Yeah,

(53:15):
and then you know Maryland's maybe holding onto the cliffs
somewhere there, and I think Michigan State's also trying to
hold on to the best they cans.

Speaker 3 (53:23):
I think Wisconsin is terrible.

Speaker 1 (53:29):
They're so bad.

Speaker 2 (53:30):
I mean, they play a spread offense at Wisconsin, which
one makes no sense too. They don't have any wide receivers,
so why are you doing that so they can? They
could they could take two of any two of Indiana's
wide receivers, any two anything. I'm taking the date at them. Yeah,
I know, but I'm saying they could take any two,
and they would they are two wide receivers would be

(53:51):
there too, best wide receivers, any any combination it could be,
you know, Anderson could be yet byj Williams. Yeah, exactly, exactly,
they would be the best wide receivers at Wisconsin. I'm
saying Northwestern and Purdue are that bad. Like they they
are fighting at the bottom for two of maybe the

(54:13):
worst college football teams. And I'm pretty hyperbolic sometimes, so
I understand that this is this might sound crazy, but
they might be two of the worst college football teams
I've seen exist in the big time.

Speaker 1 (54:27):
They are that bad. Purdue.

Speaker 2 (54:29):
Purdue is disgusting to watch and it's kind of fun
because you know, obviously we hate Purdue and it's fun
to watch them lose, but it's also really sad and
just like from a college football mind, like watching them play,
it's kind of disgusting. And then Northwestern's just totally the

(54:52):
I mean, last year was really a fluke season. It's like, seriously,
like with everything that went on with the Fitzgerald situation,
and they kind of bought they kind of came together.
They had the perfect mix of schedule that they pulled
off enough wins to kind of be impressive, and they
had a little bit of excitement going into this year.
They they they can't move the ball forward more than

(55:12):
three yards down the field. It's it's a terrible watch.
Their defense is pretty okay, but their offense is freaking disgusting.

Speaker 1 (55:21):
So then yeah, and then I think Minnesota, U C,
l A, Wisconsin are right like almost there. Like, I
think those three teams are almost there. As far as
the teams that are sort of already already, I think
writing off the possibility of all eligibility, you know, I
don't think I think. I think those programs are focusing

(55:42):
on development and getting better for next year. But yeah, no,
I think that's fair. Yeah, Rutgers, like, like, you know,
because my thing is I'm not I'm really not sure
who the two participants in the Big Ten title game
are right now. I really I really don't know. And
and the out look Ohio State likely sure, fine, but

(56:04):
I'll be honest with you. If Ohio State loses at
Oregon and at Penn State, which is reasonable, it's realistic, Yeah, yeah,
like they might beat Indiana and still not make the
Big Ten title game.

Speaker 2 (56:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (56:23):
And by the way, Ohio State has to go to
Michigan State. It's a primetime game this coming Saturday. Michigan
State's just a unique team. They're weird, They're tough, they're
tough to game plan for you. You really have to
be on your p's and q's as a coaching staff
to make sure you're prepared and you're ready to go
for that Michigan State game. Iowa looks really good. Ohio
State plays them in a couple of weeks, And again,

(56:45):
all I'm saying saying is if Ohio State takes a
couple els, Indiana can lose to Ohio State and make
the Big Ten Title game. And if it's not in Vienna,
I think there are a few other teams that are
really in the thick of contending for a Big Ten
Title game spot. Rutgers Big Ten Champs is in play.

(57:07):
Their schedule is so soft, and not only is their
schedules soft, they're really good. And Rutgers doesn't play Ohio State,
Rutgers doesn't play Penn State, Rutgers doesn't play Oregon, Rutgers
doesn't play Indiana. Rutgers gets Illinois at home. Rutgers goes
to USC. How good is USC? Rutgers goes to Nebraska?
How good is Nebraska?

Speaker 3 (57:27):
Like?

Speaker 1 (57:29):
If you're the gambling type, like, I think there are
some avenues here as far as the Big Ten Title
Game really opening up, as far as the two participants there,
I'm I'm all aboard Ohio State versus Indiana. Matt, Like,
you know, what two teams do you think are gonna
make the Big Ten title game? When it's all said

(57:50):
and done, it's gonna be sound chalk. But I think
Ohio State Oregon. Yeah, sure, I get that.

Speaker 2 (57:57):
I think I think they're the two best teams. I mean,
I think Indiana has an outside shot. I thought up
until last night that Nebraska might have an outside shot.

Speaker 3 (58:07):
I don't think they do anymore.

Speaker 1 (58:08):
Yeah, that's fair, No, I get it. I mean because
we are assuming state schedules really hard, and we are
assuming too. I think the Oregon defeats Ohio State, right,
so that should give them a leg up on that. Yeah. Yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (58:23):
Think Oregon wins that game, so I think it'll probably
be chucked. But I think Indiana has a shot to
be in there. Especially let's say if Oregon loses that.

Speaker 1 (58:34):
Game to right.

Speaker 2 (58:38):
That I can see them tripping up somewhere else. Penn State,
I don't think wins more than ten games their schedules.

Speaker 3 (58:45):
They're going to.

Speaker 1 (58:45):
Drop one or two somewhere.

Speaker 3 (58:48):
I mean, I mean they're gonna drop two at least
somewhere in their schedules. The schedule is so tough.

Speaker 1 (58:54):
That game at Wisconsin for Penn State looks a lot
easier now than at the start of the season.

Speaker 2 (59:00):
Great, So I don't I don't like playing at Wisconsin
in any sport, whether it's basketball or football. I wouldn't
wish that on my worst enemy. So you know, it
does look a lot easier, but it's still playing at Wisconsin.

Speaker 1 (59:13):
Sure, absolutely, all right, Matt. Final thoughts here on this Sunday,
Indiana's flour or oh i e men's basketball schedule is released.
We'll do something on that later on. Who's yours take
on Maryland and then Northwestern as far as football is
concerned over the next couple of weeks. Any other final
thoughts we wrap up on this Sunday.

Speaker 2 (59:33):
I would be remiss if I didn't at least bring
up the basketball recruiting weekend that was today, yesterday, whatever.
My brain has been melting these days all into one.
The time difference doesn't help either for those that are

(59:54):
living Andre Rock or living in Bikini Bottom these days. Uh,
this weekend was a big weekend for the Indiana basketball
program on top of the football program. Of course, they
honored Victor Oldipo for getting into the Hall of Fame
this weekend, which also happened coupled with in state five

(01:00:17):
star recruit newly five star recruit Brailin Edwards coming into Mullins. Sorry, Mullens,
who's brilliant.

Speaker 1 (01:00:26):
Edwards Michigan receiver, right Mulling from two thousand. Sorry, guys,
I am running on zero hours. I can't keep my
eyes open. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.

Speaker 2 (01:00:38):
Sorry Braylen Mullens, brand new five star recruit in state guy,
top shooter in this year's class.

Speaker 3 (01:00:48):
That's a very very loaded, loaded loaded recruiting class for
the incoming freshman for next year class of twenty five.
I think is what he is. Uh, he's awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:01:03):
I mean, if you guys want to go look up,
there's there's plenty of places online that have an awesome review.

Speaker 3 (01:01:09):
On his game.

Speaker 2 (01:01:11):
But you know, he's in a very feisty recruiting battle
with basically every big name school you have, Indiana, Kentucky, Yukon.
I think produced knocking to the door somewhere there, and
I think he's cutting out his list soon too, So
that's a good thing. I you just had him on
there official visit.

Speaker 1 (01:01:29):
Eric Reeby, you got to commit to Indiana before I
learned your last name.

Speaker 2 (01:01:40):
I think it's I think it's Rebby. Big Man uh
German international guy plays in the state of high school basketball.
Is like a fringe high high four star recruit, one
of the best bigs in the class, can shoot the ball,
can be the ball round on the perimeter, put the

(01:02:02):
ball down on the.

Speaker 3 (01:02:03):
Floor, looks really good.

Speaker 2 (01:02:04):
And then in state four star recruit Trent Sizzley, guy
that we've talked about on this program for a couple
of years now, because he's just been up in the rankings,
even ahead of Mullens for a while, and is still
a very coveted recruit in the state. He's believed to
be down between Indiana and Purdue for his commitments. So obviously,

(01:02:30):
I'm sure those guys had a fantastic, fantastic time at
the Charlotte game yesterday, and hopefully they received a welcome
visit to the local establishments of Bloomington on their visit
last last night.

Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
Yeah, no no rests, no, no reckless driving charges. Please, Well,
we're not Georgia football, so exactly. Oh, I feel like
I e. Basketball has had a couple of reckless driving
issues over the last ten years.

Speaker 2 (01:03:00):
I think we had them, and we had the m
Taco incident left.

Speaker 1 (01:03:04):
Yeah right, yeah, yeah, yeah, So you know, let's not
let's not do that for me. Like my last thought
is just like get off, get off the case. As
far as the fans are concerned, Like the fans will
show up, like you know, it's just the history of
Indiana football is such that you need to get convinced
a little bit. You need to trust before you fall
back in love again. And Indiana football is just coming

(01:03:28):
off a stretch. Don't forget, folks. A lot of the
current students watch Tom Allen do big things when those
students were in high school twenty twenty and then oh,
they're gonna be great, They're gonna be amazing. We're gonna
show up twenty one, twenty two, twenty three, what happened, right, So,
like the fans will show up, they'll start trusting. But
one thing that will help is going out there and

(01:03:49):
kicking Maryland's butt on Saturday if there are empty seats,
so that you can get those filled up. Over the
course of the season, but folk that about wraps it
up for a three hundred and thirty third show. The
