(Intro singing)

Ink Spots everywhere! Hello! I’m Gail Nobles, and you’re listening to the Ink Post, and I’m going to turn over to the music section. I want to take you way back to the 1930’s and 40’s to a group called The Ink Spots. One of the members of the group name was Deek Watson who told of how he was inspired by a fountain pen and how he had to overcome the protests of his fellow members. I guess that’s how the Ink Spots got their name. They were a vocal Jazz doo - wop group with a unique musical style.

It’s All Over But The Crying is a 1947 song by The Ink Spots. But what you’ve just heard is not the original. It’s just something added in for the intro.

In 1954, there have been well over a hundred vocal groups calling themselves “The Ink Spots” without any right to the name, and without any original members of the group. It has often been the case that these groups claimed to be, “Second generation” or “Third generation Ink Spots. Well, Ink Spots can multiply, and I wanted to add some music history about the group to The InkPost.

Thank you for listening everyone. I hope you’ll listen in again soon. I’m signing off for now with the InkPost pen.
