the Dallas Cowboys have shifted on down from their massive
number roster down to fifty three. We are here to
break some news and talk about it, and you know,
a lot of good, lot of bad.

There's a couple moves that I would have made and
wouldn't have made, and I'm sure we can go over that.
But anything jumping out at you, Keith, that happened within
the last couple of hours for the Cowboys, well.

Yeah, what you said, probably the most shocking was easy. Yeah.
And then obviously, you know, everyone who listens to the
show knows how I love Douce Fawn. Yeah, those those
two pretty much stood out to me. The actually, the
most shocking one out of all of them, believe it

or not, is we actually cut a draft choice the
seventh rounder, whatever the hell's name is.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
But yeah, so we actually not very it's not very
cowboy like.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
So basically admit to missing in the seventh round exactly
the cowboys. Uh, they made some significant cuts, but let's
go brat anything that's jumping out at you as far
as the top of the roster.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
Now, you know, look, I didn't think Deuce would make it,
even though you know, I don't think we were utilizing
him the best we could. I mean, the guy's definitely
a weapon. Yeah, losing Izzy, but I know that they
kept the children's guy they liked, and I'm glad we
kept Houston and Shamar James. I'm glad they made the cuts.

So yeah, Conoi too, man.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Yeah, so the wide receiver thing was interesting because I
know a lot of people were banging on the desk
for Tray Shawn holding. They liked how he did it,
but we said it last week, and I've I've continued
to say it to a bunch of people. I'm like,
you know, you have nobody else but to blame, unfortunately,
Joe Milton and Will Greer for the departure of a
guy like holding. If you think this guy had a

ceiling and you think this guy was worth being on
the roster, we didn't get to see it. You know,
you can only see so much in practice than when
those live, live reps come around. You're not You're not
able to see it with bad quarterback play, and that
kind of happened last year too.

With Trey Lance. There's no one, no one's gonna pick
him up.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
I mean, he wasn't undrafted free agent, so.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
Yeah, not only that, if you look at him in college,
he was a journeyman, like he never stayed with the team.
He didn't have fantastic stats on any of the college
teams he was on. So there might be something there,
guys that we don't know. It's true, you know what
I'm saying. Yeah, but I think he's definitely going to
a practice squad because he does have an upside. We
know as far as the talent goes, right, So.

Yeah, no, I like the kids upside and then another one.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
You know, we just watched the Cowboys beat up on
the Falcons for our first preseason win, and one of
the bigger catches and bigger moments of the day was
Jalen Brooks went on a nice diving catch. Looked great,
And now Jalen Brooks is on the outs, So Jalen
Brooks would no longer be with the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
So that's that's.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
One that kind of I raised my eyebrow because I
was like, well, you've been here and you possibly got
beat out by guys who haven't been here.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
It's just it's just a different vibe for Brooks as
he departs from Dallas. But again, he's a perfect candidate
to be brought back if they want. But from everything
I'm reading, it seems like he might be one guy
that piqued somebody's interest.

So we'll see. But yeah, so we can go over it.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
The Dallas Cowboys keep two quarterbacks. We know who they are.
His name is Rayin Dakota Prescott. Dak Prescott and Joe
Milton will be your quarterbacks one and two. I guess
Will Greer will make his way probably to the practice
squad unless Keith you said it in pre you have
your eye on what I believe twelve other quarterbacks guys.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
Here's that. This is from CBS Sports, the twelve quarterbacks
that were released, the top twelve, starting with number twelve,
Bailly ZAPPI, No, he's not. Well, now you got to remember,
it's a backup. Now, we don't expect them.

It's a third stringer. It's a third stringer because.

I know, but we know it could be a backup
as well. But I know, I know, we're I know
we're drinking the Joe the Joe juice again after Atlantic
Falcon game. But I'm just saying, okay, so Bailey's appy
John Woolford, I'm that Hendon Hooker who actually is from
Tennessee as well. I believe he was on the same

team as Milton.

Yeah. The Lions at him.

Yeah, the DPR Dorian Thompson. Rob I thought, yeah, he
got he got released from the Eagles because he was
on the Browns. Then he went to the Eagles. Eagles
release from Kyle Trask. That's the guy you like, Brett
out of Florida. He's he was a second pick out
of Florida back in twenty twenty one for the Bucks
and he played behind Tom Brady and I.

Never forget that he was tom Brady's backup.

Yeah, so he's available, Kyle McCord, Brett Rippon, who's not
now Easton Stick, the guy from the Falcons. He wasn't
that bad. I mean he okay, Yeah, I'm just saying
for a decent maybe backup Desmond Ritter for the c

Jake Bethard for the for the Jags. Number two Tommy DeVito,
and number one, believe.

He got a Pro Bowl, so.

You know it might be similar to more Yeah, I
mean I don't know. So, I mean those are those
are the twelve they're saying right there. So out of
all of them, I like, I like Zapp, I like
Trask and Stick, the Vito and Huntley, but whatever I.

Would, I would give a look at Snoopuntley just because
if he's you know, journeyman in the league, good mechanics,
decent legs, you know what I mean. Like, that's probably
the only guy would be a clown show coming to down.
I just it's another situation. No, it's nice that I'm
bringing it up.

The reason I'm bringing it up, and I'm only bringing
it up, is because we know Dak is injury pro
and if if, if Joe Milton isn't who we thought
he was, we need to have somebody in camp, not camp,
but in practice now learning the system as the third quarterback.
We have to.

Can I be honest with you, there's a part of
me that kind of wishes Milton just shit the bed
the third game because it wouldn't. We don't know which
Milton will get.

There was I think systematically, like you know, the offense,
like we had said, and we talked about it on
this show in particular, like the offense wasn't It wasn't
showing us much.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
It wasn't. There wasn't like razzle dazzle design plays or
anything like that.

So who knows. I mean, you like Milton more than
I did originally, Keith, So it's like I still do. Yeah,
we know I like him too. I'm just saying like,
now we now know, we know what's in the chamber,
and we know what they allowed him to do in
the preseason, So like we if you gave him a
full playbook and Ceedee Lamb and George Pickens and I'm.

Thinking right there, buddy, it's like, imagine having those guys around.

I mean, and we won't know that knock on wood
unless something happens to Dak again this year. So you know,
interesting to say the least, but Dak Prescott will be riding.

Well. We just so the Milton that played that one
Patriots game. And also, I mean, because you know, the
unique consistency and those first two.

Games were just you know, they were bad. But then
the last game.

You're like, okay, I mean, you know, hopefully Jak plays
the full season.

You know, the running back room concerns me a little.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
So the running back room is interesting because you had
mentioned that they finally departed with with duce Vaughan. Duce
Vaughan was a great feel good story, like he was
great at Kansas. You know, his dad's on the staff
like all that stuff. Everybody knows that, you know, knows
the story if you know, if you're a Cowboys fan.
But he did not make the cut this time around.
They used the old I got a shoulder injury for MafA,

They're gonna put him on the IR. I don't think
that's a look, they're allowed to do whatever they want.
You know, they don't have to show any diagnostic reports
to anybody. He's gonna be missing for the first four weeks,
if not more. They could put him on a longer term.

Speaker 3 (09:12):

I think they're want to see him develop a little
bit more because we're watching him in preseason and we're like, Oh,
this guy's got some pop and he's also a bigger dude,
so he might be somebody to be wrecking with down
the line right now, not the case they do keep. Obviously,
we all knew the writing was on the wall with
Javonte Williams being RB one, considering that he didn't play

a down in preseason, so you would have to soon.
They're preserving him for something. The Miles Sanders making the
team right now with not a lot of juice behind
him kind of intrigues me, Like, and when I say intrigued,
goes to be like, oh, I'm really interested in this.

It's like kind of makes me kind of scratch my head.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Because if I if anybody was gonna get cut out
of the veterans of the two, I thought Miles Sanders
was easily the one that said, like all right, we
tried it.

It was cool preseason.

Experiment done, so you know, but here he is and
then obviously you round it out with Jaden Blue and
technically you have to consider Hunter Lipke one of our
running backs.

Speaker 5 (10:09):
He's a full back and that's something with Lepke. I mean,
I'm glad we kept him because he can also play
tight end. You know, there's a couple of things he
can do. Yeah, yeah, yeah, so you know he's versatile. Uh,
because we kept three tight ends I think, right, we got.

Yer is going to start maker and Brevin span Ford.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
Yeah.

So they got rid of Princeton Font who laid a
block the other night. We all kind of jumped all
over that and we're like, God, damn he laid the wood.
But yeah, so, uh, span Ford is on the team,
Font is not. They also got rid of Fairweather and Stevens. Yeah,
Stevens Jones, he's gone too. All these guys are subject
to come back.

set the last two days. So I feel like I'm

So you were a third baseman and you know, I
was hanging out with Maganelli today and it was it
was really funny, really real fun time. Jimmy Palumbo and
everybody beer League the series look out for that, all right.
So speaking to the wide receiver room, they only kept five.
I didn't expect them to keep keep six. They start
mingo on the IR. We talked about Tree Shahn Holden already,
we talked about Brooks already. It looks like all signs

are pointing to Ryan Florinoyd being able to kind of
get his feet wet officially on this on season, which
I'm excited about because he's been compared size wise and
the ability to get up and go get a ball
like it does Bryant. He could body you. He's got
some thickness to him. And obviously you have Ceedee Lamb,
George Pickens, Cavanti Turpin as your Swiss army knife. Jalen

Tolbert makes the team even though people are like, I
gotta trade this guy, but that's your five wide receivers
to start the season.

It's not bad.

I mean, obviously we have CD and Pickens, which is
a great duo.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
But again, it's not bad. Man.

No, I mean neither Keith.

You have any objections to the fact that guys like
Brooks and and you know, Mingo obviously is not a
non factor right now, but seems like it was kind
of status quos as far as what we're gonna do.

Speaker 4 (12:44):
Yeah, the only guy looking at the receivers I would
have I still question right now is Tolbert, But I
like everyone else, Yeah, it's for me.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
It seems like Tolbert, he's it's hard to get a
gauge on him, and he's been around for a while now,
so it's like you got Turpin who's going to be
working the slot and all jumping all over the place,
and then you also have Ceedee Lamb who plays the
slot a lot. So Tolbert's gonna serve as that outside receiver,
you know what I mean. So that's why if he's
not going to take the cover off anybody, but at

the same time, he's a body to be out there
to draw some coverage. It's not like you can go uncovered,
you know what I mean. So maybe that's why. And
he knows the system and he's got a familiarity with
Dak and you know, there's there's reasons behind it. May
that be the reason. I have no idea, but Talbert's
on this team. And then we've talked about the wide
receivers already. I mean, I'm sorry, the tight ends already.

Now the offensive lineman. We made a trade today with
the New Orleans Saints, which I found hilarious because you're
looking at a scene Richards, a scene Richards was the
guy that we traded away and not not only traded him,
so apparently he was about to get cut, right, But
then you realize like, oh, you might have to go
through waivers and allso other shit. So we find some

teams and we're like, all right, who needs to tackle?
Just give us something anything, you know whatever. We took
a a twenty twenty eight draft pick, like it's not
even twenty six or twenty seven around right twenty eight.
So I made the joke on online. I was like, well,
Steven's making that pick. It's like over years from now,
uh six or seventh one.

He's a good backup, right, I mean, well that's so

Yeah, So the emergence of Nate Thomas is what.

They're excited about.

So like he played his ass off all camp, training camp,
and into the preseason. Nate Thomas seems to be the
reason why I seen Richards was expendable because then you
look at the rest of them. Your starters, obviously you
have Cooper b b at center. Your left guard is
Tyler Booker, Your right guard is Tyler I mean, I'm sorry,
Tyler Brooker is your right guard.

Your left guard is Tyler Smith? Your left tackle?

Speaker 2 (14:55):
Right now, apparently Tyler Guyton is on his way back.
There's a chance that he plays Week one, they're saying,
so if he doesn't, that might be the role for
Nate Thomas. And of course right tackle is Terren Steele.
Backing all these guys up, you only have Cornelius and
Hoffman and TJ.

And that's why, like, as much as you have trepidation
about the running back room, I feel like, going up

had in that preseason Game one was he kind of
scampered and got like a nine yard and then that
that touchdown where he took on that linebacker one on
one and then still made it in. That was pretty.
But I meant everything else. I mean, I don't know
I meant, but I do like going with young rookies.
I do like going with with uh it's better. I'd

rather have him than Miles Sanders, best way to play it. Okay,
I still I told you, guys, and I'm saying this
again because I'm not I'm not afraid to. It really
is that I'm not impressed by a running back room
right now, and I wouldn't be surprised if by by
the end of the season, if it was it's looked
at as worse as it was, worse than it was

last year. When I look at this, you say worse,
you say worse as last year.

I know the standard has been shifted, you added an
extra game and like that, but but what's this guy
Ricodello had himself a fantastic second half of the year.

They let him go, But I'm just saying that we're not.

From Jervonte Williams, I don't trust him at all. From
the Broncos, I know you were high on him.

other day, he hasn't ran for a thousand yards. They're they're,

what he's sitting on the sideline during preseason with Tony

see him. I want to I don't. I'm sick of
this half pad stuff that they do all the time.
But that's my point. The only running backs I was
impressed with this pres in preseason was Musa.

Van does at you and and look they did release
Moleigue Davis again, which I feel like they've been down
that road so many times.

But he showed us a little.

Something something towards the backstretch of the preseason that was
cool to see.

It's definitely you can't you can't look at it, even
as as Brett so uh famously says it all the time,
you can't even look at it on paper and say like, oh,
you know, like you just can't write. So it's it's
The running back room is definitely a let's see it,
you know, just let's see what we got.

It's unproven, it's young, You've got guys that look good
on paper. There's a lot of questions and uh, you know.

Talent wise, it does.

until you're in a game. And it's just weird how
the Cowboys do their preseason. I mean again, you had Mahomes,
You had Mahomes starting in a three fourtun rise with everyone.

Yes, I'm pretty sure Jamar Chase had like four touchdowns
in the free seas.

You gotta have that, You got to have him in there.
But you know, it's it's something that we've always done.

talk about and the more the Mica thing drags out,
Like I think, I think Jerry is absolutely petrified to
lose anybody. I really do, Like, I like, just based
off he's like every time they bring that up, he's like, oh, well,
you know he wasn't available for four or five games
last year, Like, dude, we know you know what I mean, Like,
neither was your fucking franchise quarterback either. So let's not like,

let's pump the brakes on all these injuries and worries
and concerns. It's football, right, We're not trying. It's it's
not ballet right, as they say in pro wrestling, it
ain't ballet. So like you're gonna get hurt, you're gonna
get nicked up. Is it the chance and likelihood that
you lose one of your star players? Look around the league?
Did anybody drop this year of its superior significance maybe
I'm drawing a blank right now, but I can't think

Though we we lost over Shown in preseason. We lost
Romo one year in preseason, right.

it would worry me that my first team is getting
burned on opening night against the Super Bowl champions.

The only, the only thing I think we have working
for us, considering the fact that the first, yeah, the
first two games or division opponents.

Is whether they got work, whether they got work.

in the in the Giants, whether they got work. Like
it's still the first two weeks of the season. So
you're not getting the best like we're getting the Chiefs
on Thanksgiving. That's not good to me. If we got
the Chiefs on opening night or or the second week
of the year, I'd be like, you know what, we
got a shot here. I think we have a shot
to pick them off, but you're getting You're getting the

Eagles and the Giants fresh into their season two. So
I feel like if you're going to pick a team
off a good team, and I talk about the Giants,
which you know people are touting them to be a
little better, but the Eagles the champs, Like, this is.

In my opinion, that's a really good question that that
that you didn't bring off. That I just thought of
though while you were talking, is what is the best
team that Dak has beaten on Thanksgiving? Like, what is
the best team we have beaten on Thanksgiving in a
long time?

So so Thanksgiving has been very gracious to us. I
think the last there's been a couple of games where
it just got away from us, Like I believe it
was the Bills, and I believe we got our ass
kicked well you know what I mean, Like it just
it was a runaway train.

We just got completely destroyed. And then.

What the Bills, the Chargers, the Raiders, they all beat
the ship out of us. Yeah, that was that was
a p I frenzy. That was.

But lately we've been getting We've been getting the Giants,
We've been getting the Skins. We'd be getting these teams
where are like we can beat these So this year, yeah,
it's a little bit more difficult.

We'll go there, you go, Chargers, Raiders, Chiefs. It's all
the West.

And it's not like they're traveling too far.

We've got the Broncos on Thanksgiving in the past and
they've done nothing but beat us.

I was at a Bronco win I think Thanksgiving. Yeah,
you know, you weren't. I'm pretty sure it was you weren't.

You were not out of Thanksgiving win with the Broncos against.

Was that a Thanksgiving win against I know for a
fact against Seattle? Seattle sets?
