Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, let's just start a soprano and you're listening to
Jersey Boys podcast. We host Dave start Show and the
Urns Boys. I mean, I can give a shit about
the Cowboys with New Jersey. These guys got bulls being
Cowboys fans in Jersey. Anyways, enjoy well, whatever.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Good afternoon, everybody.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Welcome to another episode of the Jersey Boys podcast right
here on the Chop Sports Media YouTube channel and wherever
you get your podcasts. Where that be Apple, Spotify, if
Google still has podcasts.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
I don't know they're out there.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Dave starts you alongside nationally No comedian Brett Ernst and
the Grinch is back in the building as well. Mister
America's fan Keith Ernst fellas how we're doing. It's finally
time to start talking, you know, cracking some skulls.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Man. We're gonna get some action today.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
As a matter of fact, as we record this, it'll
be dropped pretty much midway through the padded prectice joint
practice between the Dallas Cowboys and the Los Angeles Rams.
A lot to take away from the first week of
training camp. The pads are on, guys are looking a
little you know, fast, faster with pads on that we expected,
which was cool. But also we have a massive preseason

(01:17):
game to gear up for preseason Game one coming up
against the Rams on Saturday, so there's a lot to
get into. First and foremost, how are we doing, Brett?
You survived all the off roading and everything like that,
which is cool. We've been tracking you online. Glad you're okay?

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yeah, no, bro.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
It was great that that whole.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
Company that I'm working for zee they're live streaming in
a van and then we went like to all these
different towns. It's pretty cool. They had a Super Bowl
commercial last year. They're gonna have another one this year.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Nice.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
Yeah, they're they're really blowing up. So you should check
out zine maybe on it.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Yeah, well, I definitely got a kick out of the
fact that I think it was one of the clips.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
You're like, this is Johnny Knox mill Lunk on the Jackets.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
It's like it's very similar to the ship that those
guys would do, but that he owns his own.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Like you know they have off of Lake Michigan.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
They have like it's like a beach and he had
this whole stretch of beach man and the guy that.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
Owns the company, and it was it was it was fun.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Man, bad ass, bad ass Keith.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
It's like Christmas, and we got a game to play
sooner or later Saturday night, but we got a joint
practice going into today. What are you looking forward to
the most or looking looking for the most? I mean,
obviously you can't get too crazy about preseason football, but
there's a lot of positions that are kind of up
for grabs right now. So what exactly are you looking
for as we head into the first padded practice?

Speaker 6 (02:42):
One? Only one position, only one position, and that's linebacker.
That's all I'm going to be looking at.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Okay, that's it.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Well I was talking to talking to Brett in pre
right before you jumped on. And the Dallas Cowboys, according
to John MASHOWDA, have released their first unofficial twenty twenty
five depth chart, which pretty much goes to show you
where they stand right now heading into their first preseason
game and in that linebacker room.

Speaker 5 (03:08):
Wait, can I I have a question, though, Stearch, is
this ship depth chart for the preseason game or for
the whole season?

Speaker 3 (03:14):
For the whole season, because you know, DAK is listed,
CD's listed, it's everybody that's listed, no matter what they're
gonna do. And I think I really really want to
hear from Brian Schottenheimer today or tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
There's a chance.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
I don't know why, but I got this gut feeling
that we're finally gonna get some of these starters to
do something in the first game.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
I don't know why. I don't think it's going to
be some.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Clear cut you know, dak rest cd ress, all these
guys are not gonna play at all. Like I think
we're actually going to get something out of this, not
really counting the the stellar performance out of Trey Lance
in the Hall of Fame game, our former Cowboys great
Trey Lance balled out, really did.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
But again justin Herbert didn't see the field.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
It's the first of their four preseason games for the Chargers.
For the Cowboys, there's only three, so we'll see. But
speaking of the linebacker room, on this depth chart we
have as starting linebackers right now, it says Kenneth Murray,
it says Jack Sanborn, and it says Maurice lea foul
or Damont Clark. It actually says or on the depth chart.

(04:19):
So look, man, Keith, I know that you've been hard
on him over the last couple of years.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Damont Clark is turning some heads in preseason.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Do you have any ounce of confidence that this kid
can turn it around under the eber.

Speaker 6 (04:33):
Flu in training camp?

Speaker 2 (04:36):
I mean, sure, yeah, I'm sorry, I don't know.

Speaker 6 (04:38):
That's okay, No, I don't. I think don't And that's
just my opinion.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Well, what I was saying is that, you know, we
got to look at it to well, I was explaining
to Dave, Right, So let's say, like I played one
Double A or Division two football. The difference between Division
two football and Division one is like this.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
The difference between Division one and the NFL is like this.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
And sometimes, you know, you get a rookie that comes in,
you get that first year.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Second, what is he in his third year?

Speaker 2 (05:13):
I believe he's in his third year from.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
If you're looking at it, like a lot of times
in college, you get guys that don't really come around
into their junior or senior year. So this is kind
of his junior or senior year. He could be getting acclimated.
He could be you know, because obviously there obviously the
coaches are high on him, because I've been following it
and they say, Yo, he's been having an amazing camp.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
It's his best camp ever. So who knows he could
come into his own Yeah, okay, do.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
You think he just doesn't possess the No.

Speaker 6 (05:46):
I think it's easy to shoot gaps when you're in
shoulder pads and shorts opposed to when you're actually going
full strength at one hundred percent. You tend to you
tend to wait for a running back to get to you,
and those type of things which I know notice from
him more more than any other linebacker we have. Now,
what I will say for Damone Clark, I'm not Hey,

(06:07):
maybe he'd be a better safety or something. I have
no clue. I just don't like him at linebacker. Obviously
he's talented and he's a gifted athlete. I just don't
like him at that position. But once again, I'm excited
about the linebackers, and I'm excited about the preseason game,
mostly because we're not going to see any of those
three guys that you're talking about or four go guys
play most of the game. I should say I want

(06:30):
to see the guys.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
If there's an or on the depth chart, you would assume.

Speaker 6 (06:34):
I said I said most of the game. I know
they're going to play, but I'm saying most of the game,
so I'm talking about the second half or or you know,
you know what I mean something like that. We're going
to get to see some of these linebackers that I've
been reading about. Other guys. I don't have them off
the top of my the names off the top of
my head that are playing pretty well, yes, saying like

(06:56):
James James is the one guy I've been hearing about.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Buddy has been one of those guys that people have
talked about, right, yeah, yeah, yeah, And Justin Barron is
another name to to look at.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
So look competition.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
It does create storylines, yes, but it also creates you know,
Iron Sharpen's iron type deal. Right, So like, let's see
how these guys do a a in a scrimmage today,
which again it's controlled. All you hope for is no
injuries and you don't want any fights or anything like that,
which I don't know if you've got noticed, but Brian
Schottenheimer's no fight policy is unbelievable. I don't know if

(07:32):
you've guys have watched this. Anytime the fight breaks out,
he makes them run suicides. So it's like, you know,
we're going back to high school here here in Pop
Warner shit where he's not taking any crap, which is
to me, it's.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
It's I don't know, man, I'm excited about that kind
of course.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
No, dude, but think about it like this, No, I'm
being realistic here.

Speaker 6 (07:53):
Well you know what about that? Actually? You know what
I do like about it. He didn't do it at first,
like let them fight, and then they just and then
he started doing it. It's like, all right, enough's enough.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Well yeah, well that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Like I feel like if it was McCarthy or Wade
Phillips or Jason Garrett, the guys were like, come.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
On, guys, let's you know, let's be on.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
This guy's going in there saying you fight again, you're
off the field. It feels Jimmy Johnson. I'm not comparing them.
It feels Jimmy Johnson, like oh you got asthma your cut,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Like it just feels like a little bit different.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
You gotta know too, you can get.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Keith Is all over me right now. I can feel it.

Speaker 4 (08:28):
Hurt those fights man, of course.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Yeah, well, morons throw punches at helmets, which.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
Is it's more of like, you know, because you have
the pads on.

Speaker 5 (08:38):
I hurt my lower back in a fight one time
on the field, and uh it affected me, so you know,
because you know you're rolling around on the ground, then
you get piled on.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
You can't. You can get hurt, man, of course. You
know if you get hurt in.

Speaker 5 (08:52):
A drill right digs last year, you can get hurt
in a fight. And you know, you gotta be smart.

Speaker 6 (08:58):
But fighting has always been part going back of when
you get in pads. It's just something that they let
you do at first, but then it gets especially when
you're grown ass men exactly.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
It has it has nothing to do with it has
nothing to do with the brotherhood, you know what I mean, Like, yeah,
they all love each other, yeah in the day, but
like the tempers are gonna flare. There's testosterone flying everywhere,
like it's going to be a thing if you you know,
trip up on the wrong guy. But anyway, so the
linebackers is obviously something we'll be focusing and zeroing in
on to start. Also, it seems like the secondary has

(09:29):
been taking a little bit of you know, hits here
and there as far as the cornerback situation is concerned
the cornerbacks right now, as listed, if Trayvon Diggs was healthy,
he would be cornerback one. And then you have dron Bland,
and then you have Kyir Elam who's also had himself
a fantastic camp so far. He's doing a lot of
pass breakups, you know, excited to see what he can do.

(09:50):
Because again, recency bias and recency stores. You would look
at a guy like here Elam, and the last time
I saw him in a professional setting, he was getting worked,
you know, in the AFC title game, like just just
badly worked. But again, just like to Demoon Clark, and
just like some of these guys that are unproven, maybe
it is a system change that kind of sparks them
a little bit, or even just a culture change. Just

(10:11):
a location, right, maybe Buffalo ate the place for you, buddy,
Maybe Dallas is so again one of those things we
have to.

Speaker 6 (10:18):
Keep in mind with defensive backs that has to do
with pass rush a lot.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Sure.

Speaker 6 (10:23):
So I meant once again, you know, if going back
to that game there was that you're talking about the
the Ravens game, right.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
The AFC title game. So the Bills and the Chiefs.

Speaker 6 (10:37):
The Chiefs, right, So you got mahomes back there. I meant,
you know, not not getting much pressure running around. If
that happens with us, he's going to get worked again. See,
people don't understand how hard it is to play defensive
back in the NFL. So of course he's having a
camp now once again because it's seven on seven. It's
just regular drills. They the quarterback knows where he's going.

(11:00):
He's not running around back and forth for for you know,
ten seconds before throwing a ball. It's different than game speed.
And me personally, I am excited about this kid, I think,
but we have to get to the quarterback. Very important
to get to the quarterback because if we don't get
to the quarterback and then DB's are getting beat. That's

(11:21):
the first thing you're gonna hear, is these defensive back suck.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
I think.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
I think the defensive line or the edge rushers in particular,
are where we are the deepest, believe it or not,
which it's hard. It's hard to even say that considering
like how he lost somebody like a like a lot
you know, quote locker room leader like DeMarcus Lawrence. But
like you know, yeah, you look at this depth chart, man.
And obviously you know we'll get into the we'll get
into the Micah thing in a little bit. But out

(11:46):
opposite of Micah, you got Marshawn Neeland, you got Tyris Wheet,
you got Dante Fowler Junior coming back, you got Sam Williams,
got Peyton Turner turning some heads.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
So there is a lot.

Speaker 6 (11:56):
Of That's an awesome rotation, bro, that's really leg coming in.
I'm excited about that, I am.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
And like to your point, even if our secondary is
looking a little bleak injury wise, you know, you know,
if you don't have a pass rush, Dion Sanders can't
cover you that long. You know what I mean, It's
all the same, It's all one and the same. So
the defensive pass rush is something to definitely look forward to.

Speaker 5 (12:18):
Brett, Well, you know what's crazy, like again going back
to the older older clips that I sing you guys, Uh,
we didn't have rotations in the eighties. Those guys took
every snap, you know, and now uh you know every dude.

Speaker 4 (12:34):
It's crazy that And yeah, fresh legs are great.

Speaker 5 (12:38):
You have specialists that come in on certain downs. Again,
our our weeks, our week spots linebacker. And I'm excited
to see how they play. I mean, because like he said,
we're gonna look at the guys that are that.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
Could potentially, you know, step up.

Speaker 5 (12:54):
And that's that and that's where you find those I
don't want to say generic, but like the hidden gems.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
You can find them in preseason, you know, and.

Speaker 5 (13:04):
And in a real game situations, how they you know,
fill the holes or get back into coverage, which you
know is is is Mike as strong point, you know,
Like I don't think he's the best edge rusher in
the NFL. I think he's probably the best defensive player
because there's very few that can drop back into coverage.

Speaker 4 (13:25):
Like him and and.

Speaker 5 (13:27):
You know, can can screw up a whole fucking offensive
scheme and game plan with him on the field alone.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
He's got to be accounted for.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
Yeah, and uh, you know, and that's and listen as
you say that, it's it's it's the reason why he's
about to, in my opinion, become the highest paytonn quarterback
in the league, because if you have to game plan
for one guy, that just shows you he's a game
rerecord and he's worth every penny. Now, look, we're not
going to sit there and count dollars and cents, but
he's going to shatter some records once that deal is See.

Speaker 6 (14:00):
I don't I don't think we. I don't think he
should be the highest paid non quarterback in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
That's my really, I do not know.

Speaker 6 (14:09):
Well, look here, can I let me talk about Micah
real quick?

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Okay?

Speaker 6 (14:14):
Sure, I love Micaeh and I think he deserves a
great contract, all right, but let's talk about also what
where was Mike in the Green Bay playoff game when
they on us on every single drive We're talking seven
drives in a row touchdowns? Where is Micah? Then where's

(14:35):
my if someone if someone's going to be the highest
paid like a you think that'll happened to a ray
Lewis or Reggie White?

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Well?

Speaker 3 (14:45):
Well, because I don't know this off top of my head,
but was was ray Lewis at one point the highest
paid non quarterback at any point?

Speaker 2 (14:52):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (14:52):
My point My point is is the person making that
money should be that type of player. That's what I'm
trying to say.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
And while I agree, I agree to you.

Speaker 6 (15:00):
Know, and I think I think Micah. This is my
This is my breakdown on Micah. I agree, you do
have to game plan around it. But what I notice
about him is he goes for the big play and
I love it, But when that big play doesn't work out,
he disappears like basically it doesn't work and you'll see
him stop the whole hustle. I'll do those things, but
it's almost like he's looking before I before the He's

(15:23):
looking to make a huge impactful play and I love that,
but that's not always going to happen. Sometimes you just
got to make a good play and a tackle, you
know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
You watched the first few weeks.

Speaker 6 (15:34):
Last year when we got ran all over. He was
a big part of that. He was not doing the
read option very well against Lamar Jackson. I meant there
was because he was he was trying to make the
big play and he was he was over pursuing and
it was just bad football by him.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
And he got up a good point in in a
in our conversation, you know obviously when we just talk
and they're allowing these guys to be held. Now, yes,
so it does kind of take away from because how
many times was Michaeh held last year and they didn't
call it.

Speaker 6 (16:08):
I mean, you know, maybe the one against the Dolphins.

Speaker 4 (16:11):
Guys.

Speaker 6 (16:12):
Yeah, the dude had him around the neck and and
and you just see fucking Tua just completely and they
don't call and that was a game breaker. That's another thing. Yeah,
And he's right like that, that whole the allowing them
to hold even for two seconds now without calling it.
Then why put that much money into a uh why
put that much money in a pass rusher if you're

(16:32):
not even be able to utilize them anymore?

Speaker 3 (16:34):
So then then I raise you the question, why did
the Raiders pay Max Crosby?

Speaker 2 (16:39):
Why did the Steelers pay.

Speaker 6 (16:40):
T j W I'm not that's not me to I
don't know. I meant that's.

Speaker 5 (16:47):
It's not against And it was the same argument we
had five years ago when we paid Dak.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
Right.

Speaker 5 (16:52):
When you're talking about what the market values, it applies
to everybody, not just the Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (16:59):
I meant, you know, you're.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
Overpaying for a lot of players that really, I mean,
I don't care what the market dictates.

Speaker 6 (17:05):
Yeah, Like why I don't understand, But why follow that?
That's what I'm trying to say. Starts like why are
we following?

Speaker 2 (17:10):
Why?

Speaker 6 (17:11):
Why do we have to follow that nobody. Why can't
we just think of our own think, think on our
own and be like, I'm not I don't want to
know this is the contract you're going to offer him,
which would be very and even Mike has even said
he doesn't want to be the highest paid non quarter.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
That was before David Mulgata or whatever his name is,
got right. That agent has been a thorn in the
side all of a sudden, and that was part of
Micah's long text and release statement where he said he
didn't want to be here anymore, which really kind of
rubbed me the wrong way. I know, this is kind
of like weird, and like Miles Garrett said the same thing,
like I want to be out of here. Thank you Cleveland,
Thank you fans. Just trade me. You know, yeah, he

(17:46):
got a massive deal. It's just it absolutely is.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
But I think his.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
Wordage and verbiage was very very off putting to me,
you know what I mean. It's like Miles Garrett, who
is one defensive player of the Year multiple times, now,
like he he went out there and thanked Cleveland, thanked
the front off like he was. He was very humble
about it, but saying like all right, it's not gonna
work here. I've always want to play here, but it
ain't gonna work. It's time to trade me. Micah literally

(18:10):
blasted and said, I don't want to be here anymore.
I no longer want to be a Dallas cowboy.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
Trade me.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
And I'm like, well, you know, there's negotiation and then
there's like sucking the soul.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Out of out of the fan base.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
Because back when I read that, I was like, oh,
come on, man, like you could have just said, like, look, man,
Jerry and my agent just haven't talked. This is getting
car this is garbage. I'm in the dark with all this.
Can somebody please figure something out? If not, trade me, right,
that's fine, but like I no longer want to be here,
really stuck and resonated.

Speaker 6 (18:39):
I get it, I get it. But he's still number one.
He's still a kid, a number two. Everyone handles things differently.
That means nothing.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
Let's give him his props too. He's been practicing, he's
been showing it exactly.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Well, he's not practicing in the last couple of days.
But yeah, he's there, bro.

Speaker 6 (18:54):
But yeah, I was reading he's just like watching right, like, yeah,
quarterback or something.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
I mean there was one there was one article that
came out there like oh, he's not even wearing his jersey, right,
and then Schottenheimer was like, dude, put your fucking jersey on.
He put his jersey on, but like that's the And
you know what, though I thought, I thought my opinion
right there would have like resonated with you guys a
little better because of the years and the years where
you're like, I care about the Cowboys. I care about
the guys at the star and the helmet, not the

(19:19):
name of the back of the jersey. So for the
first time, I was just like, you know what, man,
if you don't want to be here, then don't then
don't beat It's like DeMarcus Lawrence type shit, like you're
you're I'm the leader.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
I'm the new leader. It's my time now look at me.
I'm the now.

Speaker 5 (19:31):
Because I think he wants to be there. I think
you know, look, he grew up a Cowboys fan. He
loves the Cowboys.

Speaker 6 (19:37):
He uh was it.

Speaker 4 (19:39):
He's just doing.

Speaker 5 (19:40):
He's just posturing right now because I look, they should
have did this deal last year.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
No shit, they always were a year behind.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
We said, I guarantee you if we go back to
listen to our podcast from last year when we were
talking about Dak and Ceedee Lamb. We literally said out loud,
I don't know who said it, maybe myself, maybe one
of you guys. We literally said, and guess what next
year this time will we talk about Micah?

Speaker 2 (20:00):
And here we are.

Speaker 6 (20:01):
So it's like it's not they go back to that
what you said, stirch, And I do like that. You
know you're you're defending the Star when you say that.
But I'll be honest, man, and I'm still that way.
But I keep saying I'm a logo fan now. And
when I say I'm a logo fan, I'm who's ever
wearing it is wearing it because when we signed someone
like Terrell Owens that that took the whole thing, that

(20:24):
whole Oh where the Dallas cowboy? You know, no one
disrespects us and blah blah blah. This is a guy
who's on our star ship all over us, always had
comments to make and then we sign them to a
million dollar contract. I don't even kind of look at
the player, man, I don't I look at the star.
I look at the logo. I root for the logo.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
I hope I look at the production of Tony Romo
when when Torell Owens was there.

Speaker 6 (20:46):
I also look at the fact that with that logo,
you know that the person that is playing is a
good person. I'm not saying that, and they probably are,
and I'd rather that, but whatever they want to say,
Like what Micah said, Hey, just if he's gonna play
for us, and he's gonna and he's gonna get us
a super Bowl, let's.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Just get it.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
And I I to me, when it's a guy like
a general, to me, it's a generational talent. I think
the guy is all world. I think he's one of
the most explosive edge rushers in the game. So therefore,
if again I know you don't like this term or
this phrase, but if market value dictates that he has
to be the highest paid non quarterback whatever the hell
to keep him on this team, then Jerry should have
just been like, all right, here you go, you know

(21:25):
what I mean, Like, we're not in Capell, We're not
in Capel.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
You know, everybody's got the everybody's got to worry about this.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
The fucking Trayvon Diggs and the Terran Steels and the
Zeke second contract and everybody has like this PDS PTSD.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
About all the bad moves that Jerry has made so far.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
And I'm not saying that Terren Steele or Trayvon Diggs
is a bad move per se as far as their
early contract. But it's not playing out the way they
thought it would play out. But like, let's not worry
about those other guys. I feel like Parsons is on
an island by himself.

Speaker 6 (21:54):
Here, go ahead, bro, because I got something to say.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Go ahead, brus.

Speaker 5 (21:57):
Sorry, but we also have injury issues with him. You know,
he a lot of games last year. You know, he seems.

Speaker 4 (22:03):
Healthy now, but he gets hurt.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
It's anybody.

Speaker 4 (22:08):
Yeah, but that's the thing. You're gonna give him all
this money and then he's not even on the field.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Yeah, but dude, that's anybody.

Speaker 6 (22:14):
Literally, This is how I look at that. Okay, this
is what ed I would actually be in favor of
maybe making him a non quarterback the highest paid. But
you just said something earlier, which is so true. We're
deep already on edge rushers.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
Fair.

Speaker 6 (22:30):
Now, here's my thing. Okay, if if that is not
a weakness of ours right now, it's just not The
edge rusher is not is not a weakness.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
An absolute premium when Michael Parsons is one of the guys.

Speaker 6 (22:46):
I'm trying to say, it's not.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
It's not.

Speaker 6 (22:48):
If you could, if and I'm saying, if you could,
if a trade did happen with Michael Parsons and you
can get other needs on this team plus a couple
of first round picks, I would think about it.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
And according to a lot of reports that as soon
as he said I want to be traded, thirty one
other teams jumped down Jerry's throat and see here's my offer.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
Like that, they're all pursuing him.

Speaker 6 (23:11):
They would have to be there. The only honestly, the
only one I would do a straight swap with. There's
only one player I would do a straight swap, no
first rounds or anything. That's Fred Warner. But that wouldn't happen. No, Yeah,
I know it's not gonna happen. But I'm just saying,
if he was he wanted to leave, and they wanted
to leave, and they're like, all right, I would take
Warner in a fucking minute.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
I don't. Yeah, I mean, look, i.

Speaker 6 (23:33):
Think I'm on blogging with the boys. I'm cursing it
apologizing ultimately.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
Ultimately, which don't even have any podcasts anymore. Ultimately, Like
when I when I look at Michael Parsons as a whole,
I do consider him a complete, game record, game changing
type dude.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
And that's why I think you need to just say.

Speaker 5 (23:51):
Okay, we're also negating the fact that he's our best
outside linebacker.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
And if over Shown Kings came back. Let's say we're
deep in the edge and we'd got.

Speaker 5 (24:00):
Mike at one outside and over Shown at the other.
When he gets back, I mean, he's still our best linebacker,
you know.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
I mean, they don't.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
It's been a while since anybody's actually considered him an
all true linebacker because of the because of his ability
to get to the quarterback as an edressure.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
I'm saying, if we have other guys that can rush.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Yeah, a perfect dude.

Speaker 3 (24:23):
In a perfect world, I would have Kneeland and like,
you know, anybody else, like anybody else, and then Micah
on the outside of that.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
You know what I mean, it's like, holy shit, like
and you send five, well, you do.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
Like the key in the the goal for every defensive
line is to get home with four, and we could
do that with Micah Parsons.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
But ship you put him on the you put him on.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
The field stealing and somebody else you're gonna you're gonna
make quarterbacks living.

Speaker 6 (24:48):
Stanborn as as the middle right, he's set in the middle.
So the other two outside Luifo, who's having who I'm
I'm excited about big Yeah, And then obviously K nine,
who I think is basically starting because of the contract
he got.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
I mean my opinion contract.

Speaker 6 (25:06):
Well, I know, isn't that But I mean he was
like the big splash of of our first big splash apparently,
So we'll see, we'll see how he does. But I meant,
he's been on how many teams already, and he's been
horrible against the run. And I don't know if it's
if it is a system thing. Like you guys were saying,
that's the hope, that's the hope. I'm not saying, said

(25:27):
someone like Micah taking that when you already have edge
rushers taking that position.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
Hell yeah, you can float him around anywhere you want.
You can put in my fucking safety at this point,
you know what I mean. Like Michael Park, one.

Speaker 5 (25:38):
Of the fastest guys on the team, runs step for
step with Tyreek Hills.

Speaker 6 (25:43):
Him in a race or something.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
Yeah, like you at least made it close.

Speaker 4 (25:46):
You know, I beat him.

Speaker 6 (25:47):
It was like the Pro Bowl weekend. Yeah, just beat
He's like, yeah, he goes, I got like he but
he downplayed it.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
Yeah, he's one of the fastest.

Speaker 5 (25:58):
If if we're just putting onto our head, okay, sign them.

Speaker 4 (26:03):
It's getting his money.

Speaker 5 (26:05):
Uh he's shown I mean to me, he's shown a
lot of class and character by just showing up for camp,
not holding out.

Speaker 4 (26:12):
He bit his tongue for a while.

Speaker 5 (26:14):
You know, I'm one hundred percent sure the agents are like, look,
we're gonna pull this Miles Garrett move.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
Let's see if that does anything.

Speaker 5 (26:23):
I mean, look in his defense too, why are the
Jones trying to negotiate?

Speaker 4 (26:27):
You know, the agent's got to get involved, so.

Speaker 3 (26:29):
That that is the biggest mystery I can't seem to
figure out.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
I mean, Steven Jones are business men. You know the answer,
They're they're trying to play.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
But what what player in the history of players Brett
has ever signed a contract with.

Speaker 4 (26:44):
I'm an agent, let me put it in my in
my business.

Speaker 5 (26:47):
A lot of times club owners will call me and say, look,
I'm not negotiating what I what I'm gonna get to
go through my agents because they know if they talk
to me, you know, I might be like, yeah, what,
but you you have to go through the agents. And
I think it was a little bit of manipulation on
the Joneses part.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
And sure, I mean there was a there was a
handshake basically a handshake agreement in March April. Right, They're like, Hey,
this is what the contract is gonna look like, you're
gonna get You're gonna get yours, blah blah blah.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
And then Micah ended that conversation was like, yeah, man,
just you know, throw it to my agent. We'll get
this done. Like to it.

Speaker 5 (27:24):
I got a call after this today and the guy
that reached out to me is a legitimate guy, and
he's like, look, let me set this up.

Speaker 4 (27:31):
And I said, well, let's talk first.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
Right you you but I'm not negotiating any deals.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
You know, you just don't.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
Problem is.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
The problem is, Brett, much to your credit, you've made
a lot of good relationships over the time of touring
the country.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Right, So like when when when Jersey, when the.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
Stress factory calls you up, which I saw that you're
gonna be back in December.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
Awesome, let's roll.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
But like when the Stress Factory calls you up, it's
Vinnie and he's talking to you and he's like, hey,
you want to come back to Jersey. Sure, how's this money? Yeah,
that's awesome. The agent is going to be the one
that's going to say, hey, whoa you can get you
can get more.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
Brett, you know what I mean. Like, and then you
have to listen.

Speaker 5 (28:09):
It's more like you say, look, I got this day open,
let me call. But they all go through your agents.
The only ones that don't are ones that are like
trying to not trying to, but are like they don't
want to deal with them, right, But you know there's
a difference between the you know, he's the talent and
that's his job, and you got to go through his agents.

Speaker 2 (28:29):
Now.

Speaker 5 (28:29):
The agents are known though, to fuck things up. Yeah,
because I think.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
This one is kind of almost not fucking it up,
but like I feel like there was something that was
in place already and he stepped up and said, whoa wait, wait,
just hold off letting me write and TJ and these
guys sign their deals. Miles gat let them sign their
deals because once they sign their deals up, up, up
goes the price.

Speaker 5 (28:50):
And the problem though with this type of stuff too,
is Micah becomes a casualty, right, you know what I mean,
Like he in my opinion, he showed good faith and
and he was trying to do the right thing.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
And you know, like he said, he's still a young guy.

Speaker 5 (29:07):
You know, and it's a different world now with the
podcasts and the Instagram and all that stuff. They're all
doing it now, and he, you know, he's kind of
a casualty of this. And I'm pretty sure his agent said, look,
just put this out and let's see.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
Let's see if we can hardball the Joneses.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
Now, his tweek got ten million views in like three hours.
Of course, he put it out there and it went
out there. Of course, we've we've got all the.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
Problems right now.

Speaker 6 (29:38):
Though it's crazy when I look at a like even
thinking having Micah, you know, and we've won one playoff
game with Micah.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
Well, somebody came at me.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
Somebody came at me and said, you've played four playoff
games with Micah.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
He's got four quarterback pressures.

Speaker 6 (29:53):
Okay, but that even the point we have. Once again,
I was saying we had UH. We've won one playoff
game with Micah and it was against UH, a non
winning team, the Bucks that were what they were, seven
and nine or whatever they were in the PLA. Doesn't matter.
It's just it's the fact that you know, we we

(30:14):
haven't even now. And I'm not putting it all on Micah,
just in general, this team really in the last since
we beat Seattle at home in the playoffs, so I
was in twenty eighteen. You're talking about seven years. You
have one friggin with the roster and everyone that's getting
paid and all this talent, we have one friggin playoff
win against a team with that didn't even have a

(30:37):
with a losing record. That's that's that's insane. It's embarrassing, man,
it really is. But here we are, but here we
are discussing once again. We knew that when Dak was
renegotiating his contract to be the highest paid and now
we're talking with Micah now to be the highest paid
non quarterback. But we're not winning games, and we keep
talking about keeping the same stuff around. I just don't

(30:59):
understand the logic. I get the market, but I don't
understand the logic. Something needs to change.

Speaker 3 (31:04):
Well, I hear you there all around every.

Speaker 4 (31:08):
Team is dealing with this.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
That's that was my point too.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
I think every there's only one chap there's only one
champion a year.

Speaker 6 (31:16):
I agree with that, But how come these teams? I
mean who, I mean, what what did?

Speaker 2 (31:19):
What did? I mean?

Speaker 6 (31:20):
I'm just asking, look at look at the Eagles. What
have the Eagles done with all this?

Speaker 2 (31:24):
I mean they resigned Jalen Hurst. They resigned a Jalen.

Speaker 6 (31:29):
Hurt's getting is he gets He's not getting more than
Dak and he won a super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
Well, he got his deal before Dak did.

Speaker 6 (31:34):
Well, he still went to a super Bowl. I'm just is,
why do we always have to be like, oh, we gotta,
we gotta, we gotta top it.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
Man, the bull's eyes on the Cowboys because we're the Cowboys.
You know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (31:46):
That I'm in a Raiders market.

Speaker 5 (31:49):
They're having the same problems too, Like you know, talking
about even Max Crosby.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
And how much he gets paid.

Speaker 5 (31:54):
I mean, he's the only real bright spot on the team.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
And we better win that fucking game that we're gone.

Speaker 6 (32:02):
But I'm saying, like.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
Monday night right November, Yeah, it's Monday night.

Speaker 5 (32:08):
Okay, but you know a lot of that had to
do with coaching issues as well, you know, game prep preparation.

Speaker 4 (32:16):
Uh, who knows.

Speaker 5 (32:17):
I mean, look, there's no again, if this was twenty
thirty years ago, we could predict.

Speaker 4 (32:24):
I mean, you know, you can't build it.

Speaker 6 (32:26):
I get a gem like that anymore. I get, I
get it. But you know, let's talk about those coaches.
Kellen Moore who took the Detroit Lions to an NFC
Championship game and almost not Detroit, fucking uh Philly Washington.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
No, uh he won a super Bowl last year?

Speaker 6 (32:44):
No, Ben Ben Johnson is the one that took Detroit.
So I met the Eagles, right, That's what I meant.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
Yeah, he won the Super Bowl with the Eagles.

Speaker 6 (32:50):
Yeah, wins the Super Bowl with the Eagles. And you
got Campbell, who I was thinking of another another defensive
coach that gets to the NFC Championship game.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
Dan camb was on the defensive coach, not Dan Campbell.

Speaker 6 (33:03):
I'm doing horrible right now and Campbell offense? Bro, why's
the fucking redskin guy?

Speaker 2 (33:08):
Helped me out? Quin Quinn oh, Dan Quinn?

Speaker 6 (33:12):
Yeah, yeah, you're coordinators, so i'man I don't obviously. So
dan Quinn was our defensive coordinator that we're saying they
didn't have the coaches. Kellen War was our offensive. But
when they get on other teams, Hell, these teams are
These teams are winning, These teams are going the distance
or close enough. We can't even beat a winning fucking
team in the playoffs with the players we have. I

(33:34):
don't under you guys see where I'm coming from here.

Speaker 2 (33:36):
Yeah, yeah, but you just wait till you just wait
till Shoddy gets his hands up.

Speaker 4 (33:45):
As Brian said about, uh did you see that interview?

Speaker 2 (33:47):
Bro?

Speaker 3 (33:48):
First of all, does Bryant That's another topic for another day,
because boyle boy like Jerry Jones and his Rock Nation
bullshit started a war between des Bryant and like Nicki Minaj.

Speaker 4 (33:59):
Yeah, God, why.

Speaker 6 (34:02):
Is she why she wanted She mentioned her her husband
fighting him or something.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
I have no idea, Bro, He's probably just another entertainer
or something. I have no idea.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
But the guy dude that got brutal, and I'm like,
and who's the Who's the culprit that started all this ship?
Jerry fucking Jones, He's the one starting up Twitter b
force between Dez Bryant and Nicki Minaj.

Speaker 2 (34:24):
Only Jerry Jones can pull that ship off.

Speaker 4 (34:26):
By the way, also said he would rather have played
with Dak than Romo.

Speaker 2 (34:30):
Oh he's an asshole for that. I didn't hear that.

Speaker 5 (34:32):
Yeah, yeah he said in an interview. He was like, yeah,
no for five pick. But you know, he tried to
give Romo props, but it's like, well, then he switched
it around to Jason Garrett and made it more about
Jason Garrett, like he said he'd rather play in this
type of offense.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
Well, des Bryan also blocked me on Twitter a long
time ago, so I don't ship.

Speaker 2 (34:51):
What's Bryant has to say?

Speaker 6 (34:54):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (34:54):
And it was such a mean It's such a meaningless joke.

Speaker 3 (34:56):
It was just like he was talking about the front
office and all I did was reply, will there go
your season tickets?

Speaker 2 (35:02):
That was it.

Speaker 3 (35:03):
That's all I took. And he just fucking was like,
oh man, if this kid anyway? So another position battle
we have to talk about. I'm just curious because I
put it on Twitter. Running back, running back, Yeah, there's
a lot of them right now. And again, it was
the weakness of our team last year because we didn't
name an actual number one until like Thanksgiving. For christ six,
I think it was like Rico Dawdll's coming out party

(35:25):
on Thanksgiving. And then the rest of the year earned
him a payday in Carolina, which is good for him.
But this year I feel like we we dipped into
the bargain bin as far as the veterans. You know
Davonte Williams coming off some injuries, right, and then he
had Miles Sanders coming off with something to prove. He's
went on record and say, look, man, the Eagles, they
didn't play me, right, so I'm here to beat the Eagles, now,

(35:47):
you know what I mean, Like shit like that, which
is great. He's last year, right, yeah, but before that
he was a Philadelphia or or vice versa.

Speaker 2 (35:54):
He might have been.

Speaker 6 (35:56):
He was at the Panthers last year.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
Okay, well, so we basically traded in Miles sand Is
for reco.

Speaker 3 (36:02):
But now I look at the back end of that,
right and right now he got h Jayden Blue doing
some really really good stuff. Uh, hitting the holes getting
small if football people know what that means, Like he
just kind of gets through that hole, he migrates through it,
and he's he's a burner, right, and then you have
guys that we've already known about Deuce Vaughn, right, you

(36:23):
don't know much about Phil Maffa, but Schottenheimer keeps praising
him up and down.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
And then you have Hunter Lipk. He listed on the
on the depth chart as a full back.

Speaker 3 (36:31):
But the guy is basically like a Chris Cooley all
of a sudden, where he's playing full back, tailback, tight end.

Speaker 2 (36:35):
All this shit.

Speaker 3 (36:36):
So he's got multiple positions. I got a funny feeling
that you know, one of these guys aren't going to
be on the team, and I don't know who out right, well,
right now he's hurt, but like and he might be.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
He might be a cut, He might be a cut
to bring back.

Speaker 4 (36:51):
And then Javonte Williams is the number.

Speaker 2 (36:53):
One right now, Javonte is listed as the one, right.

Speaker 4 (36:56):
And that Jaden Blue has been, you know, the one
everybody's been talking about.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
So he's he's fun right now. He's the fun new
toy with the speed.

Speaker 3 (37:02):
Right, He's he's like almost like a little bit bigger,
well not bigger, but maybe a similar version in to
with Tony Pollard, Like when Tony Pollard hit the hole
and he got to space, he was a quick running back.
Jaden Blue is actually faster, right, So, like you have
all these running backs, he can't keep them all. Considering
the fact that there's receivers that we got to talk
about for a second after this, but like you can't

(37:23):
keep them all. Unfortunately, Keith, your boy is probably the
target for a cut, isn't He isn't.

Speaker 6 (37:30):
Uh, he's injured. He Fawn's injured.

Speaker 2 (37:32):
That's not doing the many favors right now, because why.

Speaker 6 (37:35):
That's the only is he was doing very well in
camp and then he got injured. If it happens, it happens.
You know, I look at right now, I say, uh uh,
definitely Blue is out of all those running backs you're saying,
I think, believe it or not, he's probably in Hunter
is probably that those two are the safest right now.

Speaker 3 (37:53):
Yeah, I would think that the veteran minimums that they
signed like aren't there there.

Speaker 6 (37:58):
I know they got Williams on first team, but I
don't think I don't even know if he's safe.

Speaker 4 (38:02):
Tell you the truth, I would say they keep Williams.

Speaker 5 (38:08):
Blue and and Lepke And I don't know if if
how serious deuces injury is.

Speaker 4 (38:16):
But I mean I mean, if he's going to go
developmental again.

Speaker 6 (38:20):
That MafA kid was a how do you say his name?

Speaker 2 (38:22):
Phil? That he was drafted right, he was but six
or seventh round?

Speaker 6 (38:29):
When one do we ever cut a draft choice? When's
the last what's the last of the d Never So
he'll make the team as well.

Speaker 3 (38:36):
So you got if anything, I see a practice squad
for him. I could see a practice squad for him to.

Speaker 6 (38:43):
Go to practice squad.

Speaker 2 (38:44):
Uh yeah, yeah, if they clear waivers, it.

Speaker 6 (38:47):
Makes him look too bad.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
That's my thing.

Speaker 6 (38:50):
I'm just saying. I mean, we're talking about them, we're
talking about the Joneses. I mean, we there's been so
many players they could have.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
They don't like to be wrong. I don't like to
be wrong. The don't want to hit on every single draft. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (39:00):
My opinion is is the four are would be if
Williams Blue, MafA and freaking uh Hunter and Hunter.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
Those are the four that's gonna Miles Sanders on the outs.

Speaker 6 (39:15):
Miles Sanders on the outs. Unfortunately Duce Vaughan because he's hurt.
Maybe he'll go to practice squad.

Speaker 2 (39:19):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (39:20):
Yeah, I can't see an NFL team picking up Duce
Vaughn and saying like he has to be on our
fifty three.

Speaker 2 (39:24):
You know, like, let's unless there's teams that are you know,
running back might be. There might be.

Speaker 3 (39:28):
And that's why and that's why they played the preseason
and that's why you got to worry about injuries, and
that's why the rosters aren't cut until the last day
now instead of the whole like remember back there in phases, Yeah,
recently they would have to cut down to this and
then cut down to this and then file.

Speaker 2 (39:42):
Now it's just like who do I like better?

Speaker 1 (39:45):
What?

Speaker 2 (39:45):
Now?

Speaker 4 (39:45):
What?

Speaker 2 (39:45):
What?

Speaker 6 (39:46):
Which one do you like better? Like the system you
like once?

Speaker 3 (39:50):
I'm a fan at the at the little by littles
like that, Yeah, because I mean that because if you
get cut after one week, then you're like this guy
must really stink, you know, like but the fact that
you have to do like one false like swoop of
guys they're like, yeah, thanks for everything.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
It's like, bro, you're going from like ninety to fifty two.

Speaker 4 (40:07):
Bro.

Speaker 6 (40:08):
It's one of those things too where it's like even
the even if like if you're the final cut, you know,
it's just the kind of a now everyone's the final cut,
but like you know what I'm saying, Like before, like, yeah,
at least, I mean the end. Everyone makes it to
the end.

Speaker 3 (40:21):
Guys are going to be telling their grand kids like
I was on the final cuts in twenty twenty six.

Speaker 2 (40:25):
You're like, dad, everybody was on the final exactly.

Speaker 4 (40:29):
I'll tell you this. The phases was more interesting. But
I prefer all at once because you.

Speaker 5 (40:34):
Know those little phases though though Brett is you can
always bring guys back.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
Well that's the thing.

Speaker 3 (40:39):
But like, if the guy gets cut after phase one,
he at least has like two more weeks to latch
on with another team to prove his worse.

Speaker 6 (40:45):
That's a good call to I didn't even think, you know,
and get.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
Some burn somewhere else. Right now, you get cut on
fucking Labor Day, like you No, that's that's every team.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
So like yeah, no, I know, all at once, So
then they could say, look, we let's we'll take this guy,
this guy.

Speaker 4 (40:59):
Then they all scramble at the end.

Speaker 5 (41:01):
But it's it's more better for the team, I think,
to know who's going to be a go and and
and who's healthy. And because you know, you could cut
somebody they're gone, another team picked them up.

Speaker 4 (41:11):
And then now you get an injury and now you're.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
Like shit.

Speaker 3 (41:15):
To your point, that's that's probably the biggest plus to
this is having all those guys on your depth chart,
and and if something catastrophic were to happen in a
fucking joint practice today this afternoon, you know you at
least have some depth.

Speaker 6 (41:27):
Another thing I want so all at once We're I'm
not in agreement with all I want.

Speaker 2 (41:33):
I'm not either. I'm just saying there is positives each way,
is what I'm I.

Speaker 6 (41:37):
Can't get now. I I just got the Whitney Houston
song stuck in my head.

Speaker 5 (41:42):
So I'm saying, uh, in phases, it's better for the player,
and then all at once is better for the team.

Speaker 4 (41:47):
But if they're all doing it once, now they can
just scramble and get the value. But uh, I'm you
know our O line.

Speaker 5 (41:56):
You know it's funny everybody gets mad when we draft
O lineman, But it's it's situations like this one are
in now where.

Speaker 6 (42:06):
What oh, I thought you were doing that on purpose?
This is exactly what Starch texted to us about the alignment.
I thought you were stealing it because I know you
like to steal ship like and make joke like like
fun with people.

Speaker 4 (42:18):
Oh yeah, I forgot search texts.

Speaker 6 (42:20):
Actually texted that he goes Everyone gets pissed when we
offensive linement when he went down. I thought you were
being perfect.

Speaker 2 (42:27):
My bad. We have conversations.

Speaker 4 (42:30):
We have conversations off off the phone.

Speaker 6 (42:33):
I just remember him putting that in a text.

Speaker 2 (42:35):
Yah, you're right, mm hmmm.

Speaker 1 (42:38):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (42:38):
Just everybody's clear. Michael Parsons is on the field right
now stretching, warming up.

Speaker 2 (42:43):
Not padded, so he will be there in practice.

Speaker 6 (42:47):
I wish you did so much better.

Speaker 2 (42:49):
I know, right, he just shows up, so I wanted
a perfect face.

Speaker 6 (42:52):
I thought it was coming.

Speaker 3 (42:53):
Now, another guy I'm really excited about, which is contrary
to everything I've said in the first five years of
his podcast, is Joe Milton. I'm very excited to see
Joe Milton do his thing. He's going to get a
lot of playing time. Him and Will Career are going
to get a lot of playing time in these first
three games.

Speaker 2 (43:10):
I'm interested to see what he can do. You were
very bullish on him when when we got him. You're like,
I like this kid.

Speaker 6 (43:14):
I've always liked Tennessee with SEC and I was very
excited when he when I I used to like watching
Tennessee play when he was there, and that's why I
was excited. I know people on Twitter were bashing him
and said he was trash, but now here's my thing.

Speaker 5 (43:28):
Raw.

Speaker 2 (43:28):
He's still raw, absolutely So.

Speaker 6 (43:30):
I I actually have a good friend who's a Tennessee
fan that I played football with, and I asked him
about him, and he loves him, he said. But what
he said to me, which was interesting, is his big
knock was his deep ball. He said, that's what his
problem was. And a lot of times he was he
was afraid to throw deep and get picked off. That
he would he would overthrow people a lot in college

(43:50):
because he was so afraid of of someone get So
that's what exactly exactly. So maybe you know someone like Turbin,
you can't really.

Speaker 2 (43:59):
Overthrow, you know, not even if you tried. Uh.

Speaker 3 (44:03):
Just so, yeah, Joe Milton's gonna get some burn today. Uh,
Dak will get some burn today, which is good in
a joint practice. I don't know how many reps you'll get,
but they're starting to warm up now as we record
this on a Tuesday afternoon. I know, trust me, I
I've kicked around the idea. I think I officially want
to go.

Speaker 6 (44:19):
I'm an hour away.

Speaker 2 (44:20):
What are you waiting for.

Speaker 6 (44:22):
A podcast?

Speaker 3 (44:25):
It would have been better if you were Keith Earns
live on location, dude, like you would be like, hey,
Dak's behind me, let's talk the.

Speaker 6 (44:32):
Live yelling at everybody.

Speaker 2 (44:36):
Clark like, who the hell is this guy? And what
is this Jersey Boys podcast? These year? He's wearing no, no,
I don't worry about that. He's not He's not anything.
So look, we talked about a lot of the positions.

Speaker 3 (44:48):
Uh, obviously we'll see how it all plays out, plays
out and shakes out this week and into the weekend.
No cuts to be had. We'll talk a lot about
what we saw, what we liked or we didn't like
next week, you know. But it really the number one
thing is to stay healthy, Like like Brett was saying before,
you know, we do lose a Tyler Geyton, So now

(45:08):
you have to worry about guys like a Sem Richards,
Nate Thomas brock Hoffman, guys like that. I'm not sure
who's gonna win that position. I know we just resigned
Lyle Collins, welcome back. You know, he hasn't been on
a football field in two three years, so that's interesting.
I think twenty twenty two, he suffered a bad injury.
The Cowboys brought him back, never made it past practice squad,

(45:30):
So we brought him back once before and.

Speaker 2 (45:32):
Then he went somewhere else the Bengals.

Speaker 3 (45:35):
Yeah yeah, yeah, but I'm saying like he was also
brought back to the Cowboys prior to this.

Speaker 2 (45:40):
This is not this is like his third stint with us.
He never made it.

Speaker 3 (45:43):
Past the practice squad, so I'm interested to see, you know,
his rev up period. Look, the one guarantee that we
have on this team right now is Brandon Aubrey. That's
about his guarantee as you're possibly going to get one
of the better kickers in the NFL. So we if
we can get to the thirty five, you would think
that we get some points out of that drive.

Speaker 2 (46:04):
So that's a good thing. But there's a like I
said a lot too.

Speaker 6 (46:08):
Did you see the new kickoff implemented?

Speaker 3 (46:09):
Right?

Speaker 2 (46:10):
But you know what it is, right, so you like yeah,
but no, no, no, it's new again.

Speaker 3 (46:17):
If you kick it short of the thing, you get
the ball on the forty as if you kicked it
out of bounds, if you yeah, no.

Speaker 6 (46:25):
I think if it goes if you kick it out
of the end zone, it goes to the thirty five. Man,
you kick if you kick it short of the if
it like goes out of bounds like no no, no,
no no, no, in bounds short of the landing zone,
which is like a box. Whatever it bounces, dude, it's
if you get the ball on the forty. Why would

(46:47):
you bounce?

Speaker 2 (46:48):
Every time they want NBA scores is what they want.

Speaker 6 (46:52):
What they really doesn't make it. So basically, no, I'm
reading it.

Speaker 4 (46:56):
Now, what do you got?

Speaker 5 (46:58):
All right?

Speaker 6 (46:58):
I was gonna say that, all right, go bro.

Speaker 4 (47:01):
All right, it says thirty five yard line the end zone, right.

Speaker 6 (47:07):
Which is great.

Speaker 3 (47:08):
So a touchback used to be the twenty and now
it used to be the thirty and now thirty five
and out to thirty five.

Speaker 6 (47:13):
Which all Dak has to do is get ten yards
for Aubrey's three pointers.

Speaker 3 (47:17):
Man, we're gonna be winning games like twelve six and shit,
like you played a hell of a game.

Speaker 2 (47:23):
Aubrey went three.

Speaker 6 (47:24):
Four for four. How about that? How about we went
how about we went like thirty to nothing. We shut
him out? Man, you know, fantasy wise, Brandon Aubrey has.

Speaker 2 (47:33):
Remember that game, I think we'd beat Green Bay seven
field goals.

Speaker 4 (47:37):
Yeah, it just it says that.

Speaker 5 (47:39):
The NFL has made significant changes for the twenty twenty
five season. The new format, that's what I thought was introduced,
but it's now. The touchbacks are now spotted at the
thirty five line. Additionally, the setup zone for the receiving
team has been expanded, allowing up to three players to
line up off the thirty five yard line, but only
one in each designated area.

Speaker 4 (47:59):
Sign lines to hash hash to hash. And now on
side kicks.

Speaker 5 (48:04):
Now have a dedicated set of rules, and teams can
declare an on side kick at any point in the
fourth quarter of trail.

Speaker 3 (48:09):
Last year, you can only do it if you were
losing right and in the in the final two minutes
or some ship.

Speaker 2 (48:13):
Now you can do it whenever you want.

Speaker 4 (48:18):
If you're trailing.

Speaker 3 (48:20):
Take the fucking element of remember the big one of
the biggest plays in the Super Bowl history is Sean
Payton's surprise on sidekick to start a half.

Speaker 2 (48:26):
And now you can't. You can't even remotely think remember that.

Speaker 6 (48:29):
Do you remember the Eagles game where what Randall Williams,
I think his name was where they tried the on
side kick in the beginning and he returned it for
a touchdown.

Speaker 4 (48:35):
I was at the game.

Speaker 6 (48:38):
He said that, I think that was his name.

Speaker 2 (48:40):
I think it was.

Speaker 6 (48:41):
That's that's the record though, you know for the quickest
touchdown ever. I think it was like six seconds and
it still is.

Speaker 2 (48:46):
You ran the six second forty five years.

Speaker 6 (48:48):
Literally they opened quarter first quarter, they opened on an
on side kick. This dude gets it and pro I
was there, I was going nuts. That's the picture with
me with the makeup.

Speaker 2 (48:56):
On my body. Oh, that's a legendary game. Tex s.

Speaker 6 (49:01):
Graham got inducted to the Hall, to the Ring of Honor.
It's like, dude, it's one of the greatest days. And honestly,
probably yeah, it goes that then maybe my wedding day, maybe, dude.

Speaker 2 (49:17):
I swart of Christ.

Speaker 3 (49:17):
The other night, I'm watching Summer Slam and Brock Lester
comes back.

Speaker 7 (49:21):
And I'm like jump off my chair and my wife
I was like, what is wrong with you? And I'm like,
it's fucking Brock bro so stupid.

Speaker 4 (49:33):
Wrestling keeping wherever at was that Sunday night game?

Speaker 6 (49:37):
That was bro And that is one but I meant
going to Texas Stadium. Yeah, And I met Crazy Ray
and he signed my shirt. He was in a wheelchair.

Speaker 2 (49:46):
Then it was signed my chest.

Speaker 6 (49:48):
It was like the greatest one of the It was
the greatest time. I mean I couldn't I mean beat
him forever.

Speaker 4 (49:57):
I keep thinking though it wasn't it whistling? They called him?

Speaker 6 (50:01):
Who No, it's crazy.

Speaker 4 (50:04):
I thought it was whistling right second podcast.

Speaker 2 (50:07):
Never but it's Crazy Rays.

Speaker 6 (50:11):
I got the shirt, Dude, I got the shirt.

Speaker 1 (50:13):
Man.

Speaker 6 (50:14):
It's crazy whistling Ray.

Speaker 4 (50:16):
He used to whistle all the time.

Speaker 6 (50:17):
Crazy whistling Ray.

Speaker 2 (50:18):
Maybe me.

Speaker 3 (50:21):
And by the way, he should go back by episode
two when we try to start a petition.

Speaker 6 (50:29):
When Harvey Martin's not in there, I mean, when you
think about it and all these other players, oh.

Speaker 2 (50:33):
You know what, you know what? This is perfect to
round out this podcast.

Speaker 3 (50:37):
And I know we talked about Micah a lot at length,
but I was talking on Twitter and one of these
old school cowboy fans jumped down my throat when I
said that Micah Parsons not this second, but when it's
all said and done, Michael Parsons can go down as
a top five top ten Cowboy ever.

Speaker 2 (50:56):
And somebody was like, what the fuck, what are you
talking about?

Speaker 3 (50:59):
And then he's like, he's not even top fifty right now,
and I'm like, all right.

Speaker 4 (51:03):
Yeah, historian.

Speaker 6 (51:05):
You know, it wasn't me disguise.

Speaker 2 (51:08):
I felt like I was talking to you.

Speaker 5 (51:09):
You're talking top five cowboys on defense of all time.

Speaker 3 (51:13):
No, he's saying all time, top ten, top ten all
time cowboys. Maybe maybe I'm not saying saying no. I
see you're saying no, no.

Speaker 6 (51:22):
But I career like, no, stirch, let me defend you here.
I can see what he's talking about, and he's just saying, if.

Speaker 2 (51:28):
He has a five years into this ship, you know after,
you know, he could be the potential. That's why I said.

Speaker 3 (51:37):
I was like on Twitter, I was like, he could
potentially be one of the all time great cowboys ever.

Speaker 2 (51:43):
So that's why you secure this deal. You get it done.

Speaker 3 (51:45):
Somebody jumped down my throat like he's not even top
fifty right now, and I was like, Okay, you can't
name forty nine better cowboys ever right now.

Speaker 2 (51:52):
And I'm not saying you guys get he.

Speaker 5 (51:54):
Has the potential right now. I mean, if you're looking
at potential, I mean I guess, but.

Speaker 3 (52:00):
That's all I said, has the potential to He's four
years into his NFL career.

Speaker 6 (52:06):
His biggest comparison has been LT. If he if he
turns into LT, then.

Speaker 2 (52:10):
Yes, right, so, but I don't have three heads, you
know what I mean. Like it's a fucking guy like Jones.
I'm like, I get it too tall Jones, great bro.
I understand. I wasn't fucking alive when the guy was playing,
but I know you were.

Speaker 6 (52:24):
You are statement he was there one of fifteen season.

Speaker 4 (52:30):
If you're going to make a station statement all I
mean he has potentially. What do you expect.

Speaker 5 (52:34):
I mean when you're saying all time that you got
to consider the Bob Lillies and the Randy Whites. Of course,
of the Hollywood I mean, I compare him more to
Hollywood Henderson. They have that similar type of speed and athleticism.
I mean, remember Hollywood Henderson was returning kickoffs.

Speaker 2 (52:52):
And Michael Parsons can play quarterback.

Speaker 4 (52:56):
He has that athletic potential.

Speaker 5 (52:59):
But there's too many right now to even speculators of course,
like tweet it well because I'm saying, when when they're
talking about why sign the guy?

Speaker 3 (53:08):
When he hasn't done ship yet, right when he hasn't really,
he hasn't won Defensive Player of the Year yet, none
of that.

Speaker 2 (53:12):
So he hasn't want to play offs.

Speaker 3 (53:15):
We haven't won any playoff games and shop of note, right,
so we're like, why why are you even why do
you sign a guy like that? Because because he has
the potential to be one of the all time greats
if you just stick with the kid, that's.

Speaker 4 (53:26):
All okay, but it's all relative.

Speaker 5 (53:27):
Right, he's top five in the NFL, now, sure you
know what I mean, But all time is just such a.

Speaker 6 (53:36):
How about this? How about cow boys?

Speaker 2 (53:39):
I'm talking about the Cowboys in itself?

Speaker 6 (53:40):
But how about this?

Speaker 4 (53:41):
Such a fanboy tweet?

Speaker 6 (53:43):
Well that's what that's what he but that's fan.

Speaker 2 (53:47):
All the time. This is what he does.

Speaker 6 (53:49):
I mean, he this is starts his thing. Man, he's
you know, he's into this. He's in he's got his
own sports network and this is what he does.

Speaker 5 (53:56):
But know what I'm saying is his reaction is he's
surprised as somebody jumped on his throat.

Speaker 4 (54:00):
I get.

Speaker 3 (54:01):
What I'm saying is I'm not surprised because those are
for debates. Those are four debates, right, So, like I'm
not surprised, but like when somebody comes back and says,
you know, he's one of those guys like yelling at
the clouds, like he's no you know, and I'm like,
I get it, bro, I'm not saying he's not even
Charles Haley yet.

Speaker 2 (54:17):
You know what I mean, he's a cowboy.

Speaker 4 (54:19):
What I'm saying, you can say that about Ceedee lamb.

Speaker 5 (54:21):
He has the potential to be the top five greatest
cowboy receivers of all time.

Speaker 2 (54:26):
Sure does.

Speaker 4 (54:27):
You can say that about anybody with potential.

Speaker 6 (54:29):
Right, But I think I think what triggered the guy
is him saying top ten cowboy of all time, not
pass Rusher, Right, I think.

Speaker 2 (54:35):
That's what's right.

Speaker 6 (54:36):
Let me ask you a question. Would you put DeMarcus
Ware in top ten cowboys of all time?

Speaker 2 (54:41):
De Marcus Ware?

Speaker 4 (54:42):
That's that's what I was gonna I was gonna bring
that up, De Marcus Ware.

Speaker 2 (54:47):
The problem is, to me.

Speaker 3 (54:49):
In my mind, you look at the nineties cowboys. That's
you know, the most successful cowboys were in the nineties
when they won three and five four years. So like
you like right away, I'm like, well, the Triple's got
to be in the top ten, right like E and
Emmet Irvin?

Speaker 2 (55:00):
Right rip so eightman Nevitt Irvin.

Speaker 3 (55:04):
Then you talk about the seventies Cowboys stallback door set,
that's five right there.

Speaker 2 (55:07):
Right.

Speaker 3 (55:07):
So to DeMarcus where I love him. He's a Hall
of Famer. You won a Super Bowl with the Broncos.
Top ten all time. I want to say no, because
then I also start talking about offensive linemen like Larry
Allen and fucking you know, Nate Newton and those guys
like it is tough, but I wouldn't put him there.

Speaker 4 (55:26):
Oh, don't forget about Randy White and Bob Lily.

Speaker 2 (55:28):
That's what I'm saying, guys that I have not seen.
I went to the nineties. You guys can go back
to the seventies, eighties.

Speaker 5 (55:32):
Bob really, just just to put it in perspective, Bob
Lily would have dominated today.

Speaker 4 (55:38):
That's what an athlete.

Speaker 2 (55:39):
That's what I've been told from others too.

Speaker 4 (55:41):
Dude, it was crazy what the guy could do.

Speaker 5 (55:44):
And Randy White, I mean, you talk about a linebacker
converted to a defensive tackle.

Speaker 2 (55:49):
Yeah, and you know this guy.

Speaker 5 (55:51):
If you watch Randy White's highlights, He's running down running backs,
that from behind.

Speaker 4 (55:58):
And not only that, I never stepped off the field.
He played every down they didn't.

Speaker 6 (56:04):
And where's the thing and and and and the defense
too of the old timers. I mean, we never saw
Bobby Lily play. We just you know, I know your
dad did. But I'm saying though, for Brett to say that,
it's just it's kind of like watching the video just
knowing and understanding. And I feel that happens. And I
do it too, man, I mean, people forget about the
old timers way too much. They really do.

Speaker 2 (56:25):
Man.

Speaker 3 (56:25):
It's because it's because of the recency bias between social
media and like much like if there was social media
back then, would there be like would would certain players
have more clout because they have the ability to tweet
their highlight video.

Speaker 5 (56:42):
It's more the athleticism versus like an athlete versus a player.
And the problem today is a lot of people equate
athleticism as being a good player when there there is.

Speaker 2 (56:52):
No doesn't it doesn't translate.

Speaker 5 (56:55):
Fielman, I meant the guy I had one of the
slowest forties of all time, But.

Speaker 2 (57:00):
What's his face?

Speaker 3 (57:01):
Brian Bosworth was outed as one of the greatest linebackers
from in the NFL and he got ran over by
bo you know what I mean.

Speaker 6 (57:07):
So all that the nineties though, the nineties Cowboys, I
don't Bret keeps saying about the rotation in the eighties,
but the nineties, that's what made them so good, was
that rotation.

Speaker 2 (57:17):
I know, Tony, Tolbert, Russell, Maryland, guys like that can come.

Speaker 6 (57:20):
At the end. You had Tolbert Jeffcoat, Charles Haley, Tony
was in there in the interior exactly. You just had
this Daniel Stubbs, Jimmy Jones, like a constant rotation of him.
And that's I mean, they were bad ass, bro. That's
one of the to me, that's the best defense I've
ever seen play was that ninety.

Speaker 3 (57:37):
I don't think I'll ever be able to relate Jim
Jeffcoat to anything other than Brett's skit or.

Speaker 2 (57:45):
Like we just got Jim jeff that's great. Put your
mother on. It reminds me of my childhood so much, like,
no matter what I said, it didn't matter.

Speaker 6 (57:53):
The most underrated cowboy to me, only because yeah, I
mean they did like their top fifty or something that
they didn't even put them on.

Speaker 2 (57:59):
It's like we can get no Bull. We can get him.
We can get him on the career. I think we
can get him on the podcast.

Speaker 3 (58:06):
Please, yeah, Jeff, because I'm now friends with a really
close friend of his now, so like that's just that
connection was just made.

Speaker 6 (58:14):
Not to remember his son Jackson Jeff Code. I think
I think we he's we signed him for a minute
because he had a good college career, but he just
didn't pan out in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (58:23):
You know what was also thinking about, not that I
don't want to go down this rabbit hole, but like
the running backs that were on this team. Oh yeah,
what about Tony set Well, I said set But like
even Drew Pearson, I didn't say to Pearson, you know
what I mean, crazy DeMarcus Ware starts to slide down
the list. But I was thinking about the running backs
of everybody that we've had past Emmett between now like

(58:44):
Emmett and now Bro like go go. If you want
a rabbit hole, look at the players that we were
running the football with. If you guys don't remember, we
had guys like Chris Warren on our team member well he.

Speaker 6 (58:56):
Was actually and it's back they were they were they
were on the set.

Speaker 3 (58:59):
But I'm saying like after I haven't left. It was like,
oh that doesn't maw got Chris Morren. Okay, cool anyway,
By the way, the drama, the drama's unfolding right now.
Before our very eyes, drama showed it, just tweeted out
a video of Micah and Jerry Jones during warm ups
as they are seven yards apart from each other.

Speaker 2 (59:17):
It's like they're not even They're just like doing one
of these like like they're not they don't want to talk,
you know, I don't want to talk to you.

Speaker 3 (59:23):
Uh, anyway, that'll wrap it up for this week's episode.
Grew up Jesus, you know why because he heard my
list of top.

Speaker 2 (59:35):
Right, let's do it.

Speaker 6 (59:35):
Let's do it. Let's do our game predictions because Brett
has a must win game for this Ram.

Speaker 2 (59:43):
Guys.

Speaker 4 (59:43):
This is the first of a very important season game.
We must win this game against them Rams. Will we
scrimmaging today the right?

Speaker 3 (59:53):
Yeah, So we can't give away too many secrets on
this scrimmage, man, we got to save it for the
first I actually like.

Speaker 6 (59:59):
Us in this game because I think Milton's gonna have
and I like career as well, So I'm saying, because
you gotta go with the quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (01:00:06):
You have to.

Speaker 6 (01:00:06):
That's that's what No more Danucci, I said, I don't
know if you guys took my advice, but you would
have won so much money every preseason game Danucci was
in when he was on our team, I told you
to go against it. You would have want a shipload
of money.

Speaker 3 (01:00:20):
Gone. Now shout out to his brand, his true brand,
Dallas Cowboy Hats, by the way. But so you got
the Cowboys winning. Yeah, I'll take the Cowboys double one. Yeah,
let's get that first.

Speaker 6 (01:00:32):
Out of the fencing kid right, the rams, the stets
and the quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:00:37):
Yeah, I don't know. I think I think we handle him.
I think we take their business. I'm me, I'm me
right now. What I gotta clean this up, go clean
it up.

Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
We'll clean up the podcast and post it up. Good
luck to the Cowboys this weekend. No fucking injuries please start.

Speaker 4 (01:00:56):
She'll be all upset. You need to be hitting on everyone.

Speaker 2 (01:01:00):
See them Clark still can't fill a hole. See you
guys next week. Let's go Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (01:01:07):
