Speaker 1 (00:01):
Can you dig it? Can you dig it? You dig
so you want to hear something ridiculous? And I almost decided, well,
I almost fought this, and then I realized that I

(00:21):
just don't have the time to go and fight it
and it wouldn't be worth it. And when I can
just go and make an edit so that can you
dig It, which I've been using for years now, I
mean the whole time here for nine years at Twin
Cities News Talk and going all the way back to
when Drew may he Rest in Peace, introduced that when

(00:45):
I started in Tucson, going back to two thousand and
and eight, he thought it would be good to use
for an intro, and we've kind of used it off
and on for years. I used it all the time
in Tucson, and again we've used it off and on
here in Minneapolis. So I have if you haven't heard yet,
I have separate bonus content that I'm doing right now

(01:07):
for you longtime listeners. And welcome to the Post Show.
By the way, first post show of twenty twenty five.
So for you longtime listeners, you know that I do
a Star Wars weekly podcast. I do a Depeche Mode
pretty much weekly podcast. Now it's semi weekly, but as
of late, I've I've been putting those out every single
week for those that like the greatest band in the world.

(01:30):
And you can find those just by searching for my
name Jon Justice on whatever podcast platform that you use.
And I also have my own YouTube page and there's
a ton of videos that are available there. And this
is all bonus content outside of the stuff that I
do at Twin Cities News Talk. So I recently started
sort of a bonus show. I just call it the

(01:51):
John Justice Show, and it's separate from the content that
I do here on Twin Cities News Talk, and just
to provide me the opportunity if there's breaking news in
the middle of the day or if I want to
go and expand upon something that I covered on the show,
I have another place to go and put that and
I do it separate. It's available on the iHeartRadio app,

(02:12):
but I do a separate feed because I'm just trying
to grow the to grow the audience, you know. So
I hope that you'll go and find that because it
is bonus content from what I'm doing on Twin Cities
News Talk. But again, I'm putting it on my YouTube page.
Search for at John Justice jo when you can find
it there. There's sometimes there's videos involved. I've got a
camera and lighting set up here at at home, and

(02:34):
it's just all a part of growing not only my
name identification, but also bringing more people to the radio show.
So I say all of this because I was going
to use this hen you digit hen you dig it,
and I did on one of the shows that I did. Oh,

(02:55):
this was going back to probably in November. I started
pumping out content via the John Justice Show, that bonus content,
I think sometime in early November, but I thought, okay,
you know what, I'll use that as the intro for
the bonus show. I got tagged. I got dinged with
a copyright. But here's what's ridiculous about it. I didn't

(03:17):
get dinged via a copyright because it came from the
Warriors movie. Rapper uses that very same clip in some song,
so he samples it from the Warriors, uses it in
a song, and now it falls under the copyright of

(03:39):
whatever rap R and B music label he happens to
be on, so I can't use it now. And again
that's why I was going to go and challenge it.
Because I'm like, no, he didn't create that, he sampled
it from some other place. Now, if it had been
the studio that had you know, done, you know, created

(04:01):
the Warriors back in the eighties, I would have understood.
But again, you know, why bother when I can just
go ahead and delete it. It's funny though, because it
doesn't get dinged when I do when I use it
on the Twin Cities news talk podcast, so they don't
apparently they don't care. But when I put it out
on it was specifically YouTube. I had done a show
I think I was talking about the drones and it

(04:23):
was a got a. I got a copyright from YouTube
that I don't really remember. The rapper's name. I had
never heard of him, heard of him before. So anyway,
welcome to again the first post show of twenty twenty five.
For this post show podcast, it is just me. I
do plan on bringing in and I'll explain a little
bit here in just a moment, bringing in both Kara

(04:43):
and Brett, who are kind of the rotating producers on
the on the show, and you you're all familiar with
Brett and he's great behind the mic, and Kara is
completely new. I thought for as quickly as she got
up to speed producing the show, which pretty much entails
coming in early, loading up the audio that I have found,

(05:08):
putting that up on the button bar, putting it into
the system, handling the log which has all the spots
and the endorsements and stuff in there, posting of the
podcast when the show is over, and you know, answering
phone calls. I mean, that's pretty much her role as producer.
I handled everything else, including recording and doing my own

(05:30):
promos now after the show. I've always been a very
hands on host. When Drew was still with us, I
think more was sort of going over to Sam to do.
But still in terms of content and the audio that
gets pulled on the show, all the stories that get pulled,

(05:53):
the direction of the stories, the angle on the stories,
I've always been and even when Drew was here, I
was kind of the creatorative director in terms of we
both compiled stories we wanted to talk about, and then
I would go and piece this all to all together. So,
as you're very well aware, last year, during election week,
after that election, and it happened over the course of

(06:16):
that week, iHeart who of course owns this radio station,
who I work for went through some pretty big company
wide changes and that resulted in a change in the
show of which I was completely unaware was going to happen.
I had absolutely no idea at all. I found out

(06:37):
when everybody, when everybody else found out, and when Robbie
found out. So Robbie's doing fine, He's gonna land back
on his feet. But again I was completely unaware of
what had happened. And this was something that this was
restructuring across the board with iHeart, and it happens the
industry right now. I mean a lot of different industries,
the radio industry, especially the entertainment industry. But you look

(07:01):
at so like, for example, I was just reading that
my NASCAR driver Alex Bowman, his sponsorship ally is struggling
and they're laying off a whole bunch of people, and
that was throwing into question whether or not, you know,
he's signed on through Hendrik Motorsports through twenty twenty six,
whether that would end up having an impact. So I'm

(07:21):
I am optimistic that with the change in the election,
that as soon as we get past the twentieth this month,
that will begin to see things shift. And we've already
seen things seen things shift in a positive way relating
to iHeart, which has been very public in sort of
dealing with, you know, the economic and fiscal issues, financial

(07:44):
issues that again almost every single sector of the economy
has been dealing with in the wake of the disastrous
Biden and Harris administration. So with that, as we headed
headed into the new year and wrapped up last year,
the way it is right now, in the way it's
going to be for the first seeable future is Kara
comes in to produce do the things that I mentioned

(08:05):
twice a week. She's in on Mondays and Wednesdays, and
then Brett is in on Tuesday's, Thursdays and Fridays, and
I think that'll shift a bit. There's one more individual, Jake,
who I believe is supposed to be trained to also
rotate through as well. But Brett and Kara have been
doing great. I enjoy working with the both of them

(08:28):
quite a bit. And like I said, I hope to
go and bring Kara onto the post show to kind
of get her comfortable behind the mic because she has
absolutely no experience whatsoever. She works part time, works in promotions.
I had never met her until they asked her. You know, hey,
did you want to learn how to go and run
the board and answer phone calls and do the things

(08:48):
on you know, on the John Justice Show. And she
jumped at the at the chance, and again she's been
doing a fantastic job. So it's kind of the purpose
of the of the post show today. I wanted to say, hey,
what's going on? Talk a little bit about things that
I can't really get into in detail. In this sort
of format, you know, I can kind of expand upon
stuff like I can't do on the show. I mean, listen,

(09:10):
I could, but I want to cover the material. I
want to get into the news of the of the day.
But I am intending on doing more post shows throughout
the year. I'd love to be able to bring back
movie Talk for those that go back with us, I
guess several years now, but really loved it when we
were doing Movie Talk, and the difficulty that it's been

(09:34):
is finding my cast of characters to bring into movie
Talk because not all of the regulars on the show
are as into movies as I am. Ak is a
is a given, and I'm pretty sure we can bring
Max into the fold in that as well. But that's
something that I'll look at look at later on in
the year, you know, kind of once we get past

(09:55):
the inauguration, once we get past the confirmation hearings, and
we'll be talking about that a bunch on Monday's show.
Depending on when you're listening to this, we'll be getting
into a bunch of that on the on the fourteenth,
And wanted to mention as well, in terms of the
show looking at, getting and expanding the guests on the show.
You've probably heard Representative Elliott Ingen has made a couple

(10:16):
of appearances now really appreciate his contributions to the show
much along the same lines as Walter Hudson, and I'll
have Walter on, especially as we get into this ridiculous
legislative and start to the legislative session and what the
DFL is doing regarding the quorum and the alleged Minnesota

(10:38):
DFL and Nicole Mitchell and all that garbage, of which
I have a bunch of stuff to share this week
again Monday on the on the show. So but Elliott
will be a regular contributor, and I think I'm going
to be bringing him in on Fridays and rotating him
through because we had him on originally to talk just
about legislative items, and I brought him in Friday and

(11:01):
kind of expanded upon that and just really enjoyed the
dynamic between he and Ak and Max. Rymer will of
course be back. He's been traveling as of late. Just
had a birthday, so congratulat, you know, congratulations and happy
birthday to Max. And then also the return of David
gartan Stein Ross again. For you longtime listeners of the show,

(11:22):
you'll know that, you know, he's been a contributor to
the show here and you know, going back, you know,
over a decade now to when we were first introduced,
I think probably back in two thousand and nine, and
when he decided to leave as CEO of his company
Valins Global as a global threat analyst, he decided that

(11:43):
he wanted to take a break from radio, and his
rationale was that he wasn't going to be following these
particular news items relating to counter terrorism as closely as
he did before. Then of course we started bringing him
on on occasion to talk about AI now that he's
with his new company, Valens Games, which is incredible. Valensgames

(12:05):
dot Com I believe either orger Com I can look here,
but I'll do that in a bit. So we were
bringing him on the Talk AI, but then over the
holiday break we were texting and he said that he'd
like to come back on on a regular basis and
is even doing some testifying relating to counter terrorism efforts
in Congress in the new year, and that he'd be

(12:28):
willing to go and discuss that again as well. So
it looks like we've got David back. I don't think
he'll be getting into the counter terrorism aspect of it
as extensively. He was always the go to guy for
those Middle East issues, but if there is a news
story that fits into his wheelhouse, much in the same
way with the terror attack in New Orleans, the military

(12:53):
vet that blew himself up in Vegas, he was very
keen to come on and talk about those particular issues.
So he will be making a regular appearance as well.
Katie Pavlich will continue to go and make an appearance
on the show. Her schedule has been busy over the
course of the holidays into the new year, especially with
inauguration right around the corner, so she will be coming

(13:13):
on when she's able as she typically does, which is
which is fantastic. She doesn't have to do this. I
know she doesn't have to do this, but we go
all the way back to when she was in college
and have you know, maintained our friendship since then and
has always said that if she has time, she will
come on the show once a week. So I feel
really blessed to be able to continue to have that

(13:35):
relationship with her and to be able to share our
friendship with you on the show as well, and of
course your your senators, you know, your representatives and others
will continue to have on the show on a regular
basis as as well. The other thing I wanted to
do in the post show is and I'm not going
to have this, This isn't going to be a very

(13:56):
long post show. I just again kind of want to
reset in the new year, and also wanted to mention
as well, we've had a lot of the sponsors and
endorsers on the show that have carried over into the
new year, and there's been a lot of changes with
these endorsers. However, because of how segmented the audience is.

(14:20):
People that listen on you know AM eleven thirty one
oh three five FM, people that listen via the stream,
and then those that listen to almost exclusively the podcast.
You may or may not be aware of those sponsors
and endorsements that are, you know, really providing us the
opportunity to continue to do what we do on a
day to day basis, and I wanted to take a

(14:42):
moment here on the show and highlight those endorsers right
now that you can take advantage of, and there's some
amazing offers going on, and again it helps support the show.
The more the more sponsors and endorsements that we have
on the show, the more thing that we can do.
I'd like to bring in a video element this year

(15:04):
to the show on a live basis, much along the
same lines of what they're doing on Kfan. But it's
the support of our advertisers that allows us the opportunity
to go and do that. So I wanted to share
with you a couple of those advertisers on the post
show today and stick with this because listen, there's something
for everybody here. These these companies, these businesses, these service providers,

(15:31):
they support what I do and what Twin Cities News
Talk does as well. There's a lot of advertisers that
are incredibly standoffish and skittish about going on news talk.
I work with the sales department as much as I
possibly can to bridge that gap, reminding everybody that you know, listen.
It's not just conservatives and people that agree with me

(15:53):
that listen to the show. And those individuals that listen
to the show but don't agree with what I say.
You know, they have money to spend as well, and
they want to take advantage of the discounts that these
advertisers provide. And the last thing I'll say before I
share these sponsors with you is if you're just interested,

(16:15):
there's no pressure on all of these you know, I
choose these individuals when they come to us to be endorsers.
You know, I sign on and I agree to go
and endorse their product, and I do it for a
reason because I believe in their services and the products
that they provide. I know that they are you know,
they want to be successful. I want to be successful.
But they also respect you as a potential consumer and customer.

(16:41):
So even if you just give them a call on
any of these to find out more about their services,
that helps the show too, because it shows the sponsors
and the advertisers that people are listening to the show.
And they're reaching out to find out more and so
just simply making a phone call goes a long way
in their renewals when that time comes up, and also

(17:04):
the opportunity to bring in other advertisers as well. So
we'll start off here, and especially now with these winter months. Listen,
you got to check out the windows in your home.
You know, if they're old, if they've got condensation on them.
I've got high quality vinyl windows in my home and
they're just like the ones that you can get from

(17:25):
wind Donation. And especially here in Minnesota where we know
that our energy costs unfortunately are going to be going up,
you can save a ton on your energy bills and
increase the value of your home by going and getting
new windows from Windo Donation. And listen right now at

(17:45):
windownation dot com fifty percent off all their windows styles.
So half off all their window styles. Plus you're not
going to pay any interest or payments for a full
two years Windownations windows. They're built to protect your home.
It's top quality insulation and seals. These often outperform the

(18:06):
more expensive brands that you're probably more accustomed to hearing.
And again you're going to save money on your utility
bills all year round, and the windows come with a
lifetime warranty. They can be installed in a day or less. Now,
this particular deal only lasts through the end of the month,
so take advantage of it. And I want to mention
too in terms of quality of service, wind Donation has

(18:26):
an A plus rating with the Better Business Bureau as
as well. Listen, I trust Windownation, fantastic group of people.
Head on over to the website right now, windownation dot
com or better yet, it's a free consultation. To call
them today. Give them a call and just tell them,
like with all these sponsors, tell them that John Justice
sent you. Tell them you heard the ad on Twin
Cities News Talk and that goes a long way again

(18:48):
to helping the show. Eight six six ninety nation. That's
eight sixty six ninety nation for wind Donation. So check
out the windows in your home now. Listen, y'all put
on weight over the holidays. I put on a few
pounds over the holidays as well. It's just gonna happen.
You change your routine. You're with friends and family, you're

(19:09):
eating the holiday suites, you're enjoying the meals, but listen,
you need to drop the excess pounds. And what's amazing
about the mnfat looss dot Com program is I've tried
other programs before and I've lost a bunch of weight
and I failed. It was the Yo yo dieting because
none of them really helped change my relationship with food.

(19:30):
That's where mnfatloss dot Com is completely different. Different. Their
proprietary strategies are absolutely amazing and a part of this too.
And this is where I have the opportunity on the
post show podcast to talk a little bit more about
this about how this works. They have this metabolic reset program.
It helps you lose the pounds without all the stress

(19:53):
of trying to go and figure it out on your own.
It actually helps you reset your metabolism so you can
keep the weight off for good. You know, the clients
through mnfatloss dot Com and me personally, listen, you lower
your your metabolic age by about seventeen years by going
through the program. It's quick weight loss and it's lasting

(20:16):
weight loss as well. I lost about twenty pounds in
thirty days. And once you get into the program, I'm
not gonna say it's easy doing that thing with my fingers.
Everything requires commitment. But I've mentioned this when I've talked
about it on the air. It's an exciting and fun
program to be on. I know that you got you
have to put in, you have to put in the commitment,

(20:37):
but you see the results so quickly. That's what makes
it so encouraging. You don't even have to step on
the scale. You can see it in the mirror. You
can see it when you put your clothes on and
you get to pick all the foods that you want
to eat. You have to follow their guidelines, but you
choose the meals that you want to eat. There's amazing
recipes that come with the program, so there's meals that
you and your family can eat together. So you're not

(20:59):
off eating by yourself or having to make special meals either.
You know, diets are really restricting. Don't do this and
don't do that. But here you can eat the real
food that you get from the grocery store. Listen, this
is the kind of thing like JFKG Like obviously I'm
not JFKRFK junior. You know, getting off the processed foods.
This is what it changed. It helped change my relationship
with food to maybe me appreciate those nonprocessed foods. Just

(21:23):
for the course of the program, I completely changed my
relationship with food. And I still love to eat food.
I still eat the food that I want to eat,
But like right now, I know how this program works.
I know what I need to do because I've put
on a few pounds over the holidays and it's a
different time of year it's expected. In the mnfatloss dot
Com people understand that as well. But I also know
how to get easily back into my routine again to

(21:44):
keep the weight off and lose even more. As a
matter of fact, I'm going through another full round through
the program to try to drop even more weight than
what I lost before. And one more thing too, And
this is another aspect of the mnfat looss dot Com
program that I absolutely love, is the fact that you
can do this program remotely or virtually from anywhere. I
don't like having to go. I like the accountability. And

(22:05):
there's an app that comes with the program and you
can ask questions to the fantastic staff at mmnfatloss dot
com through the app. The recipes are available there. You
can keep track of whatever you want to keep track
of on there. Don't worry. You don't have to count calories.
It's not like that. But I don't like having to
go down to the office. I don't like having to
go into the office and you know, oh, are they
gonna think I haven't lost enough way yet? Right? It's
really uncomfortable. The program at mnfatloss dot com is available

(22:29):
remotely or virtually from anywhere that you live across the country.
So even if you're listening to this and you don't
live in the Twin Cities, maybe you moved out after
the DFL triffect a couple of years ago, but you
still listen to the show every day. I know there's
a lot of you listen. You can do this program
virtually or remotely from anywhere. One last thing right now,
you can get two hundred dollars off, which is an

(22:52):
amazing discount. So go to mnfatloss dot com, reach out
to the fantastic people over there, or give them a
call at seven sixty three three one two seventy six
hundred seven sixty three three one two seven six zero zero.
And with all of these sponsors and advertisers, if you
missed any of the information that I'm sharing with you

(23:13):
on this post show podcast, just drop me an email
Justice at iHeartRadio dot com. I try to answer everybody
that emails into the best of my ability. I have
many of you who email me frequently, and please don't stop.
I love it. I read all your emails, even though
for those of you who email in a couple times
a day or a couple times a week, I may
not respond to every single one. I at least try

(23:35):
to respond to the ones that I can. But if
you have any questions about how these programs work, the discounts,
the numbers, windownation, mnfatloss dot com, or what I'm going
to talk about next with the Good Feet stores, just
drop me an email Justice at iHeartRadio dot com. So
the Good Feed Store is one that I've been working
with for a long long time and I still use

(23:57):
their arch supports. Again, my dear friend who I missed greatly,
he swore by the Good Feet art supports, and actually
we were doing this endorsement together for a while and
again another sponsor of the show committed to what we're
doing on the air as a conservative news talk station,

(24:19):
supportive of we of what we do as well, but
they provide this amazing service for you if you're dealing
with those nagging aches and pains. And listen, what I
was dealing with, not even realizing that it was part
of the problem with my body being out of alignment,
was you know, mowing the lawn, shoveling the driveway. And
definitely when I would go out mountain biking, my feet

(24:39):
would start to hurt, my body would start to hurt.
I'd get just these aches and pains, and I figured, well,
this is just part of getting older. I'm fifty two
years old. Now, Well, it turns out that it's a
lot more than just getting older. My body was out
of alignment. And what the Good Feet Store does is
you go in, takes about forty minutes. They have over
two hundred excuse me, three hundred and fifty styles to

(25:01):
choose from. Of these art support systems. You slide them
into your shoes, You walk around until you find the
right ones, and when you find the right art supports,
it really is like you're walking on clouds. You walk
out pain free. I was skeptical. I was like, how
is this possible? But trust me, they absolutely work. Sore ankles,
foot pain, tired legs. You will immediately feel the difference

(25:25):
because the good Feed art supports it helps to put
your entire body in alignment. I was just talking with
Melinda the other day. There was a meme and it
was two different photos of male calves, not the cows.
I'm talking about legs, right, the lower part of the legs,
and the top picture was a set of really toned
legs and the caption was something like, you know, I

(25:48):
work out on a daily basis, I run whatever, these
are what my calves look like. And then the bottom
was the bottom picture was a pair of really thick
calves and saying, this is a forty two year old Minnesotan.
Why do their calves look this way? And that's the
way mine are, Like, I don't have fat legs, but
I have huge calves. Well, part of it is in

(26:09):
the past carrying around a lot of weight. I do
a lot of biking as well. But it's also how
we kind of we as men walk and women deal
with this as well. We all kind of have a
different walk in a different gate when we walk, and
you know, rather than going and having to adjust how
you walk to deal with getting your body back in alignment,
the good Feed Store handles all of it with their

(26:30):
Good Feed Art supports and right now you have stores
in Roseville, Woodbury, Maple Grove and Burnsville as well. So
reach out again to all of our sponsors depending on
what your needs are. But again, if you're suffering from
nagging eggs and pains, head on over to the Good
Feed store. It is completely no obligation fitting, there's no pressure.

(26:50):
This is why I love working with these guys too.
And I've talked to our advertisers, our sponsors. When I
get into the endorsement, I talk to them and because
nobody likes to have pressure, and I think a lot
of people are tuned, are turned off. Well, I want
to go find out about it. But suddenly I get
into this phone call or I visit and I'm feeling
pressured like a used car salesman. Would no offense to
use car salesman. If you salesmen, if you go, don't

(27:11):
go in pressure people. But what's great about all of
these services that they don't listen. You come in, you
check it out, you decide what it is that you
want to do, if you want to go with it,
if you don't want to go with them. The same
thing rings true when it comes to the Good Feet Store.
It's no obligation fitting and it really is a fun process.
You go in, they get your foot size and get
your shoes. You take in the shoes, you wear most

(27:32):
off and you slide them in. You walk around and
it's like that light bulb moment when you find the
exact right and you will art supports for your feet,
get your whole body in alignment, relieve stress and pain
all over your body. So you can go online to
Goodfeet dot com or call good Feet today eight five
five five five four three three three eight. That's eight

(27:52):
five five five five four three three three eight for
the Good Feet Store. And again email me if you
need more information, Justice at iHeartRadio dot com. And then
lastly is probably one of our newer advertisers who have
carried over into the new year, my friends over at
All Elements. All Elements you may or may not have

(28:14):
heard me talk about. They are your roofing specialists in
the Twin Cities in the Upper Midwest and they provide
a ton of services. They have drone thermal technology where
they can pinpoint exactly where the leak is. I know
a lot of people have leaks in their roofs and
they go with companies and they can't find it. That's
not going to happen with the group over at all

(28:36):
elements and your roof you know, listen, it does a lot.
You need to protect it and you want it to
last as long as possible. But as your roof ages,
and especially here in Minnesota with the weather being what
it is, you know, industrial roof leaks are more common
than you think. Residential leaks, all elements again, will pinpoint
the damage. They'll contain the issue. They even go so

(28:56):
far as to deal with your insurance. They take that
pressure off, find out you know what your coverage is,
what your warranty is as well. And listen, they do
again commercial a lot of great businesses. They do a
ton of residential and during the winter months they'll handle
when it comes to cleaning out your gutters, to blowing

(29:16):
the snow off of your roof as well. And it's
not too late to go and schedule a roof inspection. Now.
I know we had some snow that just derived, but
right winner doesn't mean that roofing projects, commercial or residential
come to an end until the spring. You can actually
do flat roof projects all winter long or now is
a great time if you're looking at a spring roofing

(29:38):
project to reach out to All Elements today and get
yourselves on the schedule now so that you're all set
and you're not behind, and you can be one of
the first to have All Elements come out and do
an inspection and take care of any damage you may
have on your roof or roof replacement, because it's a
heck of a lot cheaper than to wait until that
damage comes around that proves to be incredibly costly if

(30:00):
you do end up end up waiting for that. So

Just reach out and just say hey, listen, I heard
about this on Twin Cities News Talk with John Justice
raving about your services. I wanted to find out more.
And that helps and goes a long way again to
encouraging our advertisers to continue to stay on and welcoming
other advertisers as well. All right, last thing, I'm just

(31:26):
gonna take a moment. I'm going to promote my own products,
not just Twin Cities News Talk. Be sure to tell
a friend, but also I'm an author. I'm a massive
science fiction fan, I mentioned that I have a Star
Wars podcast. I was a fan of Star Wars before
I was a fan of anything, and going back to
twenty sixteen, I had an idea my head for a story,

(31:48):
and that story was said in the future based on Earth,
where air and spaceflight had replaced car culture. I wanted
to know. One, I wanted to challenge myself to write
a story, but two, you know, I love going to
the movies, and what movie would I want to go

(32:11):
and see today if it wasn't a Star Wars movie?
Because Star Wars and science fiction is my favorite genre.
That's what I set out to do and feel like
I accomplished with embark. I wanted to write a novel.
I wanted to go through that experience challenge myself. I
went and as a self publisher, as a sort of

(32:35):
self educated author. I've obviously done a ton of writing
for the show, but never anything that I went through
any formal training for. I immersed myself for about a
year in writing author self publishing podcasts to learn as
much as I could. I spent like two summers as

(32:55):
I would go out daily when the weather would permit,
and just go for my daily rides and listen to podcasts.
Listen to podcasts in the car. While I was writing
my first book, Embark, and I enjoyed the process so
much that I decided to go ahead and make an
entire series. I had the idea for a trilogy when

(33:15):
I wrote the first book, but I also had the
first book in mind that if I just wanted to
write the first story, I could and then call it
a day. But with the success of the first book,
I decided to go ahead and do the trilogy. Then
I decided, well, you know what, I'd like to write
sort of a spinoff story. And sorry, my monitor just

(33:38):
went out for some reason. Here hopefully I didn't lose
there we go, okay, sorry about that. I'm recording the
post show from a home and my monitor suddenly went blank,
and I was like, oh my gosh, I hope I
didn't lose everything. So and after I wrote the trilogy,

(33:59):
I thought that was it. And then I had this
idea of mine for a character that I really had.
I really enjoyed writing with this sarcastic AI companion that
he had, Alex b And the character was gone, Corbin.
My stories are written in third person, and I wanted
to know what it was like to write in first person,

(34:20):
so I wrote a spinoff story that ends up being
booked four in the series, Gon Corbin and the Asteroid
of Misfortune. You could pick up that book right now,
you wouldn't be lost and just read read it as
a single adventure story, or it serves as book four
in the series. Well, I enjoyed write writing that book
so much that I decided, well, I had another idea
for a trilogy in mind, and how to basically complete

(34:42):
the entire story arc. So it ended up turning into
seven books in all. I wrote the series for adults
adults in mind, but I also wrote it for the
you know, for the young adult in me. You know,
if I was a kid going to the movies, you know,
going to see Star Wars, I would want to see this,
And I wanted to make the book accessible and appropriate

(35:04):
for kids as well. So basically eleven and up I've
had that's about the youngest I think have read my
stories and really enjoyed them is eleven and older. Even
though I wrote these books for adults, so I had
an editor who handled the editing. I hired a guy
to go and do the covers. I produced the audiobook.

(35:26):
I narrated and produced all the audiobooks on my own,
so you can pick up the entire series. Every single
book is available in ebook, Kindle, unlimited, paperback, hardcover, and
on audiobook. It's on Audible, and all the books are
available on Amazon dot Com. So the description for book
one goes like this, After Earth faces its end, to

(35:48):
follow pilots Taft, Keita, and their crew on a journey
of survival across the galaxy as they fight for humanity's future.
It's no secret that the lead character Taft Guardia is
based on me if I was you know, I basically
was thinking of myself being the protagonist and what decisions
would I make going through this science fiction adventure. So

(36:10):
there's a lot of a music references in it, a
lot of movies references in it. I was heavily inspired
by the Easter eggs and the abundant, the plethora of
them and Ready Player one, and so I wanted to
include the music that I enjoy, you know, my love
of movies as well. And again it's a combination of
all the different genres that I love. It's a post

(36:32):
apocalyptic adventure that basically turns into a space opera. I
love apocalyptic science fiction films, and I wanted the first
story to be based on Earth. But what happens when
Earth is no longer inhabitable and humanity which does have
the ability to travel for interstellar travel? What if they
were forced to have to leave Earth and go out

(36:53):
and colonize distant worlds. And so the story revolves around
that ship mechanic Taft Guardia agrees to help headstrong pilot
Katha Morrow, a girl that he has longed to be
with for a long time, but she's been focused on
her piloting skills after the mysterious passing of her aerospace

(37:14):
engineer father. But Taft agrees to help Kathum investigate a
cryptic message from her late aerospace engineer father. They end
up embarking on this perilous journey of discovery, and while
this is going on, unbeknownst to them, there is a
planet wide industrial catastrophe that's looming in the background. Was

(37:37):
Was it just circumstance coincidence that Keitha ended up receiving
this message in the middle of this disaster breaking out?
It's one of the mysteries of the story and then
in the middle of the global evacuation, you have a
ruthless enemy emerge as two rival mega corporations are on
the brink of interstellar war. Taft, Katham and their ragtag

(37:57):
crew after having discovered an abandoned freighter, a famous freighter
by the way, I wanted to ship in my story
that was kind of akin to the Millennium Falcon. I
call it the Anniversary, they do end up discovering what
may be the only hope of saving Earth's evacuees from annihilation.
So again, if you enjoy reading sci fi, treat yourself

(38:19):
a friend or a family member. With science fiction. There's
some romance in it, a ton of action. I really
challenged myself to come up with unique action sequences. I
made the technology. It's fantastical, it's not hard sci fi.
But if you can, you know, open your mind a
little bit, you can make it work. Because I wanted

(38:39):
the ability of interstellar travel, and that comes with limitations.
So setting the story in twenty one seventy two allowed
me the opportunity to just put in the story, Hey,
this is the technology of the day. Now, this is
how far we've gone. We have the ability of you know,
faster than light interstellar travel, and so now taf Keita
and their rag tag crew again maybe the only hope

(39:01):
of saving Earth's evacuees from annihilation. And then the story
pretty much turns into a traditional space opera series, even
though every single story has its own unique angle in
terms of genre. So book two is kind of a
kind of a heist centers around a heist at the
beginning of the story. Book three is kind of your

(39:23):
war epic in the Vanishing War Gon Corbin and the
Asteroid of Misfortune again is a humorous adventure. You get
to book five in the series, The Rocket Queen and
probably closest aligned with the Emblem stories of the eighties,
say Anything, a little bit of John Hughes in there

(39:45):
as well. Book six in the series, Fear of the
Dangerous Night, is kind of a kind of a mystery
noir detective story. I was inspired quite a bit by
a tackle of clones of Star Wars as well. In
that and then the final book in the series, Battle Planet,
that story is again sort of wraps up with another
sort of all out war, but there's a lot of

(40:08):
really interesting things I put in that last In that
last book, I wrap that one up in twenty twenty
two at a very tumultuous time in my life. And
as a matter of fact, that book is dedicated to
the thirteen servicemen and women that lost lost their lives
during the botched Afghanistan withdrawal, and they're mentioned in the

(40:29):
book as well that the dedication goes to them, and
there's characters in that story based off of some of
those brave men and women as well. So again I
hope you go in you know, support me being an author.
I'm not going to retire off of these, but when
I retire, I plan on writing more stories and I
am working on a few news stories. So I hope
you'll take it, take an opportunity. Go to Amazon dot

(40:51):
com and check out the series for yourself, pick it
up in your preferred format. I also have a limited number.
I have quite a few, but I've limited number of
hardcover and paperbacks at home, and so if you're interested
in purchasing a hardcover or a paperback from me at
a discounted price and the shipping is five bucks. Regardless

(41:13):
of how many books you end up ordering from me,
autograph them for free to whomever you like. I'll handle
all the shipping apart from the added five dollars, regardless
of again how many books you purchase, and I have
a limited number, but I have the entire series available
in hardcover and paperbacks. If you wanted to not go
through Amazon and purchase them directly from me, just to

(41:35):
drop me an email Justice at iHeartRadio dot com. So
happy New Year. I hope you enjoyed the post show. Again,
There'll be more post shows. I'd like to do one
a week at the radio station with Kara or Brett.
I really enjoy being able to get away from the
more structured format of the weekly radio radio show. So

(41:57):
and thank you so much for listening listen. If it
wasn't for you guys listening, downloading the podcast, listening on
the iHeartRadio app or via the terrestrial signal, I mean,
I obviously wouldn't have this twenty nine year career that
I would have that I've had. And you are you know,
one of the if not the best audience that I've

(42:18):
ever had the privilege to be able to speak to
on a daily basis. And so and thank you so
much for always emailing me as well. I appreciate the
insight your comments based off what we're talking about on
the show, or story suggestions and the like. So again,
just thank you so much. Welcome to twenty twenty five.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the year. Go

(42:43):

have yourself a good one and I'll talk to you
starting at six am after whatever day you happen to
