Speaker 2 (00:00):
Can You dig It? Can You dig It?
Speaker 1 (00:05):
You dig It's John Justice with some breaking news on
this Monday afternoon.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Welcome to the show. Thank you so much for checking
it out. Again.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
This is bonus content not available on my weekly radio show,
which you can listen to Monday through Friday six until
nine am Central Time on the iHeartRadio app. Be sure
to subscribe to this podcast that you're listening to. It's
on a separate feed from my weekly radio show. And
(00:40):
I had intended to cover a couple of stories that
I didn't get a chance to get to on today's show,
and probably wouldn't have a chance to get to you
on Tuesday show, and especially with the breaking news that's
come out within the past few hours, definitely wouldn't have
a chance to get to. However, I want to give
a bit of a preview and talk about the news
that has broke, one relating to the murder of Brian Thompson,
(01:04):
the United Healthcare CEO, and the other relating to Daniel Penny,
the Associated Press just reported an hour ago, and I'm
choosing the Associated Press for a very specific reason here
breaking Daniel Penny of the veteran who used a chokehold
on subway writer Jordan Neely has been acquitted in Neely's death. Now, listen,
(01:27):
the Associated Press has come a long way from that
reputable news source that I first discovered and used when
I got into radio some twenty eight years ago. To
describe Jordan Neely as simply a subway writer is absolutely disgraceful.
Neely was a criminal, and a career criminal at that,
(01:48):
who was threatening to kill people on that subway. Daniel
Penny is a hero that never should have had the
allegations and had to have gone through the trial and
the accusations that he went through, and thank the Good
Lord Almighty that he was acquitted in what the judge
(02:09):
and the prosecution were attempting to do in creating a
Derek Shauvin. George Floyd two point zero. I lived here
in Minneapolis. I still live here in Minneapolis. But I
was here in Minneapolis when the death of George Floyd occurred.
I went through and I lived through the rioting that
(02:29):
took place. And already there are those attached with BLM
and other individuals that are threatening to burn New York
City down in the wake of this. This was the
absolute right and justified ending to this not guilty because
he's not guilty. He was only guilty in this case
(02:50):
of being white and Jordan Neely being black, even though
there was no racial component. Those that tried Jordan Neely
me Daniel Penny were attempting to make this a racist issue.
And this is where we have such a problem in
this country, and it stems back to Barack Obama getting
(03:10):
elected and the divisions that he sewed here in America
during his two terms in office. I can only pray
that this is the end of this type of.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Vin you know, vigilanteism.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
I don't know what else you call this, because it
was criminal that Daniel Penny had to face these charges,
had to face these accusations. The tragedy here is the
loss of life. It's always tragic when somebody loses their life.
That being said, Jordan Eely shouldn't have acted the way
that he did on that subway, and Daniel Penny did
(03:49):
the right thing in going and defending those individuals. It's
tragic that it turned out the way that it turned out,
but it never would have happened if Jordan Eely hadn't
acted the way that he he did and threatened those
other individuals' lives and subsequently, in the course of this trial,
put more people at risk in New York City because
who's going to want to come to the defense of
(04:09):
anybody if you're simply going to be accused of murder
manslaughter in doing so. And it's incredible that we have
the associated press that frames it the way that they have.
But thankfully the right thing took place given all the circumstances. Now,
the other news breaking today is a person fitting the description,
(04:32):
according to Fox News of the alleged murderer, matching the
CEO murder suspect was found at a McDonald's in Altoona
and taken into custody, and a source says the person
has a similar gun to the one that was used
in the deadly shooting. Now, I had suspected all along
(04:53):
this person was going to get caught. I was concerned
that he wasn't going to get caught, not just because
of having justice be served in the death of the CEO,
but because there's a lot of questions swirling what the
motivation was here despite the clues that he left behind
relating to this potentially being about health care.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
And the quality of health care. Coverage.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
And I understand people's complaints as somebody who has to
deal with an abundance of health care issues, I get it.
But in no way, shape or form does that ever
justify the murder of an innocent individual and family man
in Brian Thompson. But it's been absolutely astonishing to see
the reaction from so many people that are justifying.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
That Brian Thompson be murdered.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Simply because he happens to be the head of the
largest health care health insurance provider in United health Care.
You don't get reform by murdering individuals. And there's a
lot of speculation here about whether or not this individual
and his motivation was really because of health care. And
(06:01):
I'm going to reserve judgment on alleged potential ties to
members of Congress until there is evidence of that beyond
just some loose connections being made. But the last thing
this country needs right now is again speaking of vigilanteism.
Are individuals out there beginning to murder people simply because
they don't like the fact that they're attached to a corporation.
(06:24):
You want to see the downfall of society. This would
have been leading to that very thing Hopefully this is
a suspect. Hopefully this is the individual and they've been caught.
Given the abundance of footage and the national news coverage,
including the fact that so many people have gone so
far as to try to go and justify the murderer
(06:44):
of Brian Thompson, I'm glad to see that we do
have a suspect in custody. So listen as it relates
to this story, as it relates to Daniel Penny.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
I really pray that we are truly.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Setting sail in the right direction of getting rational, you know,
just rational thought and common sense back in this country.
In the wake of Trump's victory and the Republicans grabbing
control of power in Congress, It's time that we get
our crime under control. It's time that we get the
law fair taking place, the social justice aspect of our
(07:20):
courts removed, so that those prosecutors and those judges don't
continue to use their own racial bias, their own belief
in that horrible racist, critical race theory to try to
go and hold heroes like Daniel Penny accountable simply because
(07:42):
they want to perpetuate a false narrative of white supremacy
and systemic racism in this country? Is there racism in
this country? Of course there is.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
It's ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Nobody would you know, should be taken seriously if they
say there isn't. But is it to the extent that
the race vaders say?
Speaker 2 (07:59):
No? Of course, course it isn't. So what a way
to kick off a Monday.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
