Speaker 1 (00:04):
Let me get to this piece from the Minnesota.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Reform Undocumented workers contributed ninety seven billion dollars in federal, state,
and local taxes in twenty twenty two. This is according
to a study that was released earlier this week by
the left leaning Institute on Taxation.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
And Economic Policy.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
In Minnesota, undocumented immigrants contributed nearly two hundred and twenty
two million in state and local taxes in twenty twenty two.
The report authors estimate these workers tax contributions would grow
to more than two hundred and ninety four million if
given legal work authorization because their wages would likely increase

(00:43):
in there would be likely a higher rate of tax compliance.
It's quite the fantasy that they're laying out here. Clearly,
the study is the most comprehensive look and how much
undocumented immigrants pay in taxes. According to Marco Gusman, ITEP
senior policy analysts co op the study in a statement,
and the study rebuts a central message of the campaign

(01:05):
of former President Donald Trump. And this is where they
get into this who portrays undocumented immigrants as a drag
on the American economy. Now, as I'm working through this piece,
I was wondering there's one particular metric. The headline is,
undocumented immigrants pay two hundred and twenty two million dollars
in Minnesota taxes in twenty twenty two. There's one particular
metric that would be very vital relating to the argument

(01:27):
of illegal aliens contributing taxes here in the state. And
I was curious that if they bring it up, I'll
share with you what that metric is when we get
to the end of the piece.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Spoiler alert, They don't.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
They go on to say, undocumented immigrants often pay higher
income taxes than workers with similar incomes because they're unable
to claim tax credits like the Child Tax Credit and
the Earned Income tax Credit or Minnesota's Working Family Tax Credit.
And listen, if they're contributing as much money in taxes
as the study seems to claim that they are, shouldn't
we not reward them with tax breaks? Think it makes

(02:01):
sense there should be some sort of cost for not
respecting the sovereignty of this country. Undocumented immigrants are also
ineligible for most public health programs. Okay, now here's what
the article takes a very interesting turn on average undocumented immigrants.
They say pay eight hundred and eighty nine dollars in federal, state,
and local taxes in twenty twenty two, according to the analysis. Now, listen,

(02:24):
I'm simply accepting this analysis at face value. I don't
trust their methodology at all, But for the sake of
the argument and this piece, we'll just say that this
data is accurate because it still leans into and I
can make my point at the end of this. Now
the article takes a turn when they say the crisis
level surge in illegal immigration, which I thought was really

(02:45):
odd for a piece that is really without trying to
hide it, attempting to justify what they say are undocumented immigrants,
illegal aliens and their task contributures in the state. Suddenly,
now it takes a turn and they talk about this
being a crisis.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
There's a reason for that.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
The crisis level surge of illegal immigration of the southern
border in recent years has focused political attention on stopping
new arrivals, with Congress nearly passing a bill that would
have provided twenty billion to expand detention capacity, speed up
asylum claims, and help local governments respond to an influx
of migrants. The bill collapse under the weight of opposition

(03:24):
by Trump, who said it would be a political gift to.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Democrats as he seeks re election.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
So, in very typical fashion, the article here is trying
to have it both ways. Illegal aliens contribute to one
hundred and twenty million dollars in Minnesota taxes. Oh, but
you know, if it is a crisis, and you think
that it is and they should be held accountable, it's
all Trump's fault for them not being held accountable. Again,
they're trying to have it all ways. And you know,

(03:53):
and I know that the bill that they put forward
relating to illegal immigration reform was dead on a rival
because it wasn't going to go and solve the problem.
It wasn't going to stop the influx of individuals coming
into the country. It wasn't designed to do that. The
Democrats designed that bill to fail. Trump isn't in a
position of power at the moment. They want to continue

(04:14):
to point to him, But the Republicans in Congress were
right to go and vote against it. Now, the piece
goes on to take its shots at Trump, Trump and
his running may J. D. Vans, who have hammered Biden
and Vice President Cameleon Harris for allowing the surge and
illegal immigration. Promised they'll go beyond increasing border security and
create a mass deportation program deporting the millions of undocumented

(04:38):
immigrants in the United States. While a popular idea with
many Republicans, would be a nearly impossible feat, they say,
requiring billions of dollars in new government appropriations while leading
the economy to shrink. Now, that's according to Laura Collins,
an expert with the George W. Bush Institute, to The
New York Times, the mass deport program would also threaten

(05:01):
to divide millions of families. Now, I want to get
back to the economy shrinkage here in just a moment.
Now the piece wraps up with this. The Biden administration,
while cracking down on new immigration at the border, has
taken steps to protect undocumented families from deportation. Last month,
Biden announced protections for undocumented immigrants married to US citizens

(05:21):
deemed to not be a security threat.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
All right, So.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Rule of law sovereignty of the nation means absolutely nothing
relating to individuals, regardless of how much tax benefit that
they provide to a state or the country, that have
come into the country illegally. This entire article is again
a great example of how the left simply once political

(05:47):
capital relating to these particular issues.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
They don't really care about this issue.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
And the fact that they pointed at this both ways,
one being there a benefit and then saying it's a crisis,
trying to score points, saying if you think it's a crisis,
that's all Trump's fault. They're saying illegal aliens contributing in
tax dollars is good for America. But what's one aspect
of this they completely missed.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
That's not it. And this is what I was waiting to.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
See the metric of which you have to add if
this is going to be any sort of rational justification
for individuals being in the country illegally and contributing tax contributions,
and that is what is the drain on taxes that
those that come into the country illegally have. People that

(06:32):
come into the country illegally don't just contribute taxes only,
they also are a massive drain on the social programs
and the taxpayer in this country.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
And look no further.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
This is from January eleventh of twenty twenty four, prepared
testimony of Stephen A. Camarado, director of Research Center for
Immigration Studies. The cost of illegal immigration to taxpayers. Illegal
immigrants are a net fiscal drain, meaning they receive more
in government services than they pay in taxes. The fundamental

(07:09):
reason that illegal immigrants are a net drain is that
they have a low average education level, which results in
low average earnings and tax payments. That also means a
large share qualify for welfare programs and often receive benefits
on behalf of other US born children. Like they're less
educated in low income US born counterparts, the tax payments

(07:32):
of illegal immigrants do not come close to covering the
cost that they create. The current surge of illegal immigration
is unprecedented. According to the White House's own officials and
their reporting, some two hundred excuse me, two point seven
million inadmissible aliens have been released into the country by
the administration since January of twenty twenty one. There has

(07:53):
also been one point five million got aways individuals observed
entering illegally but not stopped. Visa overst also seem to
have hit a record in fiscal year twenty twenty two.
The estimate is that illegal immigration population grew by twelve
point eight million by October of twenty twenty three, and
that's up two point six million since January of twenty

(08:16):
twenty one, when the President took office. This is a
net increase in the illegal population based off a Census
Bureau data. And again, illegal immigrants have a negative fiscal
impact taxes paid minus benefits received, primarily because a large
share have modest levels of education, resulting in relatively low

(08:36):
average incomes and tax payments, along with the significant use
of means tested programs and other government services. But the
tragic reality is, again, not everybody listens to the show,
not everybody goes not nearly enough people go and do
their own research on this. Too. Many people are going
to see the headline on this and probably won't even

(08:57):
bother to get into the details of the article in
and of itself, and if they do, they're not going
to read it comprehensively or with a critical enough mind
to extrapolate exactly what they're attempting to do in what
really is just a hack journalism piece of garbage. They
don't care about those that are coming into the country illegally.

(09:17):
If Walls cared about people coming into the country illegally,
he would get on board, yes, with building a wall,
because a wall is effective. He wasn't wrong in his
assessment that we need all the technology available right now.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
We don't have nearly enough.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
I guarantee you if Republicans were to go and propose that,
Tim Walls would be one of the first individuals out
there pushing back against it for some ridiculous reason. The
most compassionate thing that we can do as a nation
is to take away the ability of people to make
that bad decision, to ignore the sovereignty of this country
and the rules of this country by shoring up security

(09:53):
at the border. We are a nation made up of immigrants.
That's a good thing. It's why so many people want
to come to the United States of America, because we
are a rad and awesome place. For as much as
the left wants to go and vilify us having a
white supremacy racism problem, people still want to come here
from all over the world. Unfortunately, too many people are

(10:14):
doing it by coming into the country illegally, and despite
the best attempts of our progressive media to go and
frame it a different way. It's a drag on our economy,
and it's a drag on this state, and it's perpetuated
by individuals like Tim Walls.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
Who's way more interested.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Right now of trying to get on the VP ticket
for the White House than he is about the actual
tax paying citizens of this state. He's never cared. It's
always been about power for him, just like it is
when articles like this are written. Remember you can listen
