Speaker 1 (00:15):
What up, folks, and welcome to episode one thirty seven
of the Kyproculture with myself, Joe and Bonathy Schlanson. We're
here to talk about the latest in Star Wars celebration.
This was like we're fresh off Star Wars celebration. This
was his past weekend. It's like the biggest weekend for
Star Wars nerds everywhere, and there's just a bunch of

(00:37):
news to talk about. We got a bunch of animated news,
live action TV movies, some siting announcements, some are mixed on.
We'll get into it, but before we get started there, Aaron,
how are you doing.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
I'm doing pretty good man, And yeah, I'm super happy
for the super excited for this episode. It's a good one.
I mean, we're the Chipraculture. We talk about Star Wars
for the most part. But I'm doing pretty good man.
I'm just you know, dredging along in work. I'm gonna
go down to California in a couple of weeks see
my parents for like an extended weekend kind of thing,

(01:09):
so it should be nice to see them. Another weird
date coming up for for me is it will be
a year, so it'll be like the first anniversary of
like me and my roommates starting to play Magic the Gathering,
which is if you'll play Magic the Gathering, you can
kind of understand where I'm coming from. It's like like

(01:30):
number one. Just the fact that I've been playing the
game for a year is like holy yeah, like time
flies so fast. But me and him will probably do
something fun to like kind of celebrate because it's an
amazing game, and I always recommend anyone who's interested in
playing to play. Other than that, I've just been grinding
Red Dead Redemption too. Man. I it took me a

(01:52):
while to like actually get you know, get the game
and start playing it, and it's just been like one
of the best game, Like it's a nine point eight
out of ten game. It's just been so fun to play.
The story is so compelling and enthralling, and it's just
a classic Obviously this is older news for people that

(02:12):
have played it like on release, but it's just a
classic wild Wild West tragedy. Man, you got all the
classic tropes, you'd get so invested into all the characters. Yeah,
that's kind of how I've been spending my time, Like
I trying to bust through the story. But like not
do it too fast because it's so good. I just
don't want it to end or anything like that. Yeah,

(02:32):
if any all partners out there haven't played it yet,
I partner I. And you know, it's so weird too,
Like playing through it, I I have these weird thoughts
and like revelations that come to my mind and it
makes me think about like that era of the United
States and like trying to like transplant myself at least

(02:54):
my mind into the world there. And it's like, I mean,
just like the way that this country has formed is
in you know, because the things in the game are
like very accurate. It's not like I mean a lot
of it's not based off of true stories, but it's
so accurate. Like all the inventions. You know, there's all
these like entrepreneurs that are like, oh, I've got the

(03:14):
latest and greatest invention and all this, and it's like
this was like kind of the propellant to like where
we are today, you know, like the wild wild West,
like anything goes, you can do whatever you want kind
of thing. Joe, I know you just played through for
what like your your third time or something like that. Dude,
I've played this game an absurd amount of times. It's

(03:36):
it's my favorite. It's my favorite game ever. It's so good.
It's so good.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
It's probably the only game that I've played more times
is probably like Knights of the Old Republic or something,
But this one, I can I'll admit it, like right now,
Like I I think I beat it maybe for the
fourth or I don't know, fifth time recently, like maybe
like a like a week ago, and I did it,

(04:01):
like because there's an honor system and you can either
be you can either have like really really good on
her and be a good good guy or whatever and
then really bad on her. And I just beat it
with really bad on her. But now I'm like, you
know what, let me just start this over and do
this with good honor. But no, I I know what
you mean when it comes to the like the the

(04:21):
historical like accuracy of it all, Like you could just
tell that there was a lot of care and research
put into that aspect of the game, and that's like
one of the reasons or one of the things that
makes it so good. Yeah, I Like we could talk
about this for for a long time, which is probably
why I like, like, once you actually beat the game
and go through the whole story. We can definitely like

(04:42):
dedicate a whole podcast this to.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
A little bit.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
Yeah. No, I'm a hype that you're that you're finally
playing it, and uh, because I feel like I've been
like me and Brian have been telling you to play
the game for years now.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
For a long time. Yeah, but you know me, man,
I do things on my own terms. Yeah, which imports me.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
No, I think it's I think right now where I'm
at with it is. I definitely played it a few
times when I was living at my parents' house, and
then when I moved to the townhouse of Brian, I
was like, I'm gonna play it again because we both
got into playing it again. So of course I played
it again. And now I'm starting to think, like maybe

(05:23):
this is like, uh, it's one of the things I
do when I move somewhere new. It's like, oh, I'm
not fully settled into where I live until I've played
through a game of Red.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
But it's also like, I think part of that that's
funny you say that, though, But I think part of
that is like there's a comfort element to playing the game, right,
It's like, yeah, you're moving somewhere you're in a new city,
especially in New York, like a big city, you want
something that kind of reminds you of home, that's familiar,
like you know, that's comforting and like for me to
like like rest in my roommate. He he also loves

(05:58):
Red Dead Redemption like he did the whole online thing
like Hardcore. He did the online mode Hardcore, and I
wouldn't have been able to play it unless of like
without him because he already had owned it on his PlayStation,
because his PlayStation downstairs. I've probably like looking back even
without finishing the game, like if I knew how good

(06:19):
it was, but I had to buy the game of
one hundred percent by the game, it's worth the money.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
One can only hope for, Like I don't think like
rock Star is very much focused in on doing Grand
Theft Auto six, And then there there's been like chatter
of a Red Dead Redemption three, but nothing like set
in Stone, like they're they're like if if they talk
about Red deb Redemption three, it won't come out for
like another decade, but one can hope for at the

(06:44):
very least before getting a Red Dead three is like
a remastered Red Dead one for sure, for sure, I
would love that because I know they they tried to
remaster it a little bit like better FPS or whatever
the fuck graphics. Yeah, yeah, better graphics for like for
like PS five or something like that. But I want
like a like a true like like a remake, like

(07:05):
like We're off Pod. We were talking about The Last
of Us and something that they did when they released
Part two was that they remade the first game with
Part two graphics.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Does that make it interesting? Yeah? No, no, yeah, no, no,
I know what you mean.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
That's when I first played Part one of the Last
of Us was after that remaster. So maybe rock Star
will do something like that.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
That'd be cool, I'm and then you know, I'm not
gonna lie. I don't think they'll make a Red Dead
Redemption three if they do pay any mind to either
Red Dead Redemption one or two. Because also one of
my buddies that I play magic with almost every Saturday
absolutely loves the game two. But Rockstar already screwed over

(07:52):
all the people that even loved Red Dead Redemption one
in the online version there because they just like announced it,
implemented it, and then they they didn't do anything with
the world. They kind of did the same thing with
the online version of Red Dead Redemption two, but it
was a little bit better. So my hope would be
that if they're gonna do anything with a first or

(08:12):
second game, just focus on the second game and make
the online platform and the online like mmr BG version
of it better. But I don't think any of that's
gonna happen because they're so focused on GTA six, Yeah, which,
for all we know they're going to postpone the release
date for that too.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Yeah, I think a postpone is very likely. Like I'm
not I'm not expecting like the it's supposed to come
out in September of this year. Personally, I just don't
think that's happening. Like we got one trailer, Like I
feel like we should know a little more about it
by now if it's truly moved along. Yeah, but it's
all good, I mean, like just as long as it's
worth the wait, you know.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Yeah, And you know, just like my final thought on
video games and just Rockstar in general and GTA, I mean,
I know you loved Andreas, and I know you played
quite a bit of Vice City as well. You're you're
you're locked in for GTA six.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Yeah, I am locked in for GTA six. But it's
funny because I don't think I've ever beaten GTA five.
I think I've tried playing it like three or four times,
and I'd never like get around to finishing the game.
Between like Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto, Like,
I like the stories of San Andreas and Vice City,
but after that, I just kind of feel like, like

(09:28):
Red Ded Redemption just all around has better characters and
better story, but I kind of feel like with Grand
Theft Auto, they just want to focus on the on
the multiplayer part, you know, for.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Sure, they're much more I mean, and gta's kind of
always been that way. It's much more focused on, like
what the variety of things that you can do in
the open world. You can do plenty of different things
in Red Dead Redemption two, but they're much more limited
compared to something like GTA and the online element, especially
with GTA five, and like all the private servers, you know,

(10:00):
people make their own service, people do like professional racing
in GTA five servers like that kind of stuff. So
I don't blame you for like not finishing the story
in a GTA game, because it's not the stories are
good as far as I know, But that's not like
the main reason why you play.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
The game, you know, right right, Yeah, that makes sense.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
It's a lot of role playing, like you roleplay your
own thing, you know for sure.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Well, we'll do a deep dive into Red Dead sometime
in the future. But it's like you said, we have
a lot to talk about and Ors coming back this week,
and we're getting three episodes a week for four weeks
and that's gonna be sick. But we will actually talk
about and Or in a bit here.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
And rood of me. How are you man?

Speaker 1 (10:44):
So good?

Speaker 2 (10:46):
We got red redemption?

Speaker 1 (10:50):
No, yeah, I mean yeah, no, it's it's it's fine.
It's totally fine. I'm doing great. I just hit my
three year at work, which has kind of insane. Yeah,
I know, a lot has happened in those three years. Yeah, man,
thank you. You know, like, it's cool. They give us
little cubes. They're like paper weights. They're they're cute, they're nice,

(11:11):
even though I don't have I don't even have a
stack of papers at work that I need to use
this thing for. But I mean, yeah, but no, I
guess it's good desk decorations. So I have it, I'll
be putting it at my desk. That's been going well, still,
just watching a bunch of stuff. I just got into
Severance Severance roles. It's like the hype is very warranted.

(11:33):
I haven't finished season two yet, but I'm glad that
I didn't have to wait three years for season two,
which is kind of insane because right after I finished
season one, it was like, I was like, no way
that people had to wait three years for like after
this cliffhanger, you know, there are number of things that happened,
like strikes and what have you. So yeah, Severn's is
really good. Watching season two. The Last of Us also

(11:55):
very good. What else have I been watching? Saw a
few movies, of course, But today April twentieth, I watched Sinners,
which is Ryan Coogler's new movie. Excellent stuff. It's it's
a five out of five for me. I don't want
to get too heavy into it, but it's just like
culturally rich and like a really layered vampire horror movie.

(12:17):
And honestly, the vampire part of it is not even
like it's like they use it in marketing to kind
of sell the movie, but it's like vampires don't come
in until like the second half. It's cool. I liked
it a lot, And of course the score is insane,
like Ludwig fucking crutches it.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
It might be.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
Yeah, Gornston scored it, and it's like the like the
music itself is a character, and I love it when,
like the score of a movie is like actually integral
to the story itself, which is amazing. So yeah, I'll
probably talk about Sinners a little more on my friend's podcast,
The Dive In, and you know Hayden and The Dive

(12:56):
In guys.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Yeah, yeah, out Hayden.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Yeah, shout out to Hayden. But yeah, so just good
stuff all around.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Yeah, dude. Also, just before we wrap up, like this segment,
twenty twenty six is gonna I think it's gonna be
a pretty good year for movies in general.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
Man, twenty twenty six is gonna be a good year
for Star Wars period.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Yeah, just like and yeah, both of those things, like
not only we're gonna get Mandoin Grogu, but like outside
of Star Wars, we're getting Nolan's the Odyssey, We're getting
another toy story, We're getting a live action Mawana, we're
getting Dune part three.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Uh, it should be coming in twenty twenty six. I'm
not actually, I'm not sure if The Odyssey is coming
in twenty twenty six. It might be.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
I'll have to but and then there's a couple more.
I mean, they're doing another fast and Furious movie. Of course,
probably not something i'd go to the theaters for. But yeah,
things are I think things are. Things are looking up.
I mean I don't I don't go to the movie
theaters at all. Really, Like I I know you you're
a movie buff, so like you see so much different content.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
But like I say, something once once or twice a week.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
Yeah, yeah, like you're yeah, you're about that life, about
that life. But like for those like major like franchises
that there's a lot of hype around. Next year is
gonna be pretty good. Like if you don't go to
the movie theaters, but you would go to the movie
theaters to see this kind of movie type of thing,
you know.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
I think, uh, Doomsday, I think, yeah, I think Avengers
Doomsday is next year. You know how Marvel is right now?
So I don't know.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Weird state.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
But okay, let's talk Star Wars celebration. Shall we get
into it? So first I'm gonna do. I'm gonna do
like a reverse of what they do as Star Wars
celebration weekend. They usually end the show or they end
the weekend saying, like where the next celebration is gonna be?
So as everyone knows, this one was in Tokyo twenty

(14:55):
twenty seven, the fiftieth anniversary of Star Wars. That sane
as a franchise like Stars is fifty years old. Yeah,
that's that's nuts. Uh, It's gonna be in Los Angeles,
so then.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Oh away I'm there.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Oh fuck, I just broke this news to you.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
I didn't know it was in lay read the article.
I didn't read the article. I I more was focusing
on the fact that it was the fiftieth anniversary of
Star Wars as a whole. Do you know why? Like where?

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Probably the Convention Center in Anaheim or in La No,
like downtown La Okay.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
You know, I hate major populated cities and dense crowds
of people. But I'm going.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
Yeah, so that that shit's gonna be nuts. They'll probably
re release a new Hope, which will be great. Speaking
of re releases, I got my tickets to Revenge of
the Sith. That's gonna be great. That's like next weekend.
It's kind of crazy, but yeah, so Los Angeles twenty
twenty seven, that's gonna be a good time. But as
far as news that came out of Star Wars celebration,
let's start with some of their mad stuff. So we're

(16:01):
getting a new show. So we've gotten like, what is it,
Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Sith, Tales
of the Empire, Tales the Empire, right, okay, And these
were all just animated shorts. I think it was like
three fifteen to twenty minute episodes of like one character,
and then another three shorts for someone else. But for
Tales of the Underworld, it's gonna be following two bounty hunters.

(16:24):
I never really thought of a Sage venturess as as
a bounty hunter, but I guess they are for this, well.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Well if you think about some of the arcs, because
she joined up with young Boba Fett in the Clone
Wars for.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
A little that's right. Yeah. I just never, like, you know,
like when when I think the word bounty hunter, like
I never saw a Sage venturess like you know what
I mean?

Speaker 2 (16:49):
She just did it to like kind of escape her
being severed from being an apprentice to Count Dooku kind
of thing. But that's what you think about when you
think about asas saw venturess, right, you think about her
being the apprentice account Dooku and a Seth. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
Yeah, So there's gonna be three I think three episodes
focused on her, and then another three episodes focused on
cad Bane and then lucky for the people that were
at celebration, they screened the first episode with Assage Ventriss
and Aaron. I don't know if you've read the book.
I think she has a book with uh it's called
what is it, Dark Disciples Maybe.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
I have heard of it. I have not read it.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
Supposedly, it's not going to rerecon the book, so that means,
like I think in the book it explored a relationship
that she had with Quinlan Voss, So it's possible that Yeah,
I'm pretty sure that that was like part of it.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
No, because Quinlan did go to the dark side at
one point, I don't I think it was a more
than platonic relationship between the two, but I could be
wrong on that one.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
So I would expect to see Quinlan back in Tales
of the Underworld and possibly starting up that thing they
mentioned in the OBI one show, the path I think
that started in the OBI one show or that that's
when they first when they first mentioned it.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Yeah, yeah, right, okay, interesting.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
So yeah, I mean they released a trailer for this
a couple of weeks ago. It looked pretty fun. I mean,
if there's anything that Star Wars seems to be like
very like kind of like I say, proud of is
the term I'm looking for, or like prideful of, it
is their three D animation stuff. And I mean their
three D animation just gets better and better each time

(18:33):
they raise new things. I mean bad Batch I was
okay with. I definitely like these shorts a little more though,
But yeah, So any thoughts on Tails of the Underworld.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
Yeah, no, I think, I mean it's hard to make
these kinds of comments based off of like a what
two minute little over two minute trailer, but I think
based off of just like the two characters that it's
going to revolve around, and also the fact that, like
you just said, and we kind of talked about this
a little bit before the plot started, but that the

(19:04):
three D animation is is the best it's ever looked.
I mean, it looks phenomenal, but I think out of
all the Tales, this will probably be the best one,
because I think the best one so far is still
Tales of the Jedi. I think the getting to know
like Ah Soca a little bit more after she was
you know, exiled, like exiled herself was great. But yeah,

(19:29):
and even just like the music to the trailer was
like very like very dark, very ominous. And I think
one thing that people like a lot of Star Wars
fans and this is just you know, me guessing that
a lot of Star Wars fans out there right now
are craving at some more dark side kind of stuff,

(19:49):
you know, focusing on the Syth or even if it's
not the Sith, just kind of like the darker side
of Star Wars in general. So I think this is
like kind of a little bit of a small step
towards that because I mean me personally, yeah, I'd love
to get some more some more dark side stuff, more
Bounty under stuff. I think it's gonna be great. I
think it's gonna be I think it's gonna be awesome.
I hate how short it is, but I understand you know,

(20:12):
production and focusing on other projects and all that kind
of stuff.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
So speaking of other projects, well, one more thing on Underworld.
I think there's something about like Tales of Jedi Tales
the Empire, it's clear that I think they put more
care and effort into like one one of the character's
storylines than the other. Like right now, like me and you,
we just talked about Assage Ventress for all of Tales

(20:38):
in the Other World, but the other three episodes are
about cad Bane, and it's like, it's all right, cool,
cad Bane's also.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Here, yeah, and but but the thing is is that
the way that they've created this story, I mean even
just so, I mean, well we already saw this. We
saw this at the end of the Bad Batch, right
that Assage Ventress has a yellow lightsaber, right, that was
at the end of Bad Batch. Yeah, Like just that
alone is way more intriguing than cad Bane because we've
also seen okay, well we've seen i think equal parts

(21:07):
of Sage Ventures in cad Bane and Clone Wars alone,
there's just something about Assage Venturess story that's way more
intriguing than cad Bane. Like cat Bane isn't gonna have
this like change of heart, right, Like he's just the big, biggest,
baddest bounty hunter in the universe at the moment, right,
A sage just has more of She just has way

(21:27):
more character development like in general for sure. But but
I know what you're saying, because like even Tales of
the Jedi, Like I think Dooku had way more intention
than no.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
Who was Tales of the Jedi, because it was for sure,
I thought it was Asa and Qui Gone.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
Ahsoka and Qui Gon Sorry, but I was just.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Both of those were actually pretty good that was there there, Yeah,
but no so but then yeah, for Tales the Empire,
like I I forget who the other half is about,
but like the Douku stuff was way more interesting.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Because the other half was about what's her name, the
one that framed Ahsoka, Like I can picture her in
my mind, I can hear hers in my mind.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Barras yeah, Bearisafi Yeah no, I I barely remember what happened.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
Yeah, Like like she is an interesting character alone, but
it's like, come on, it's Qui Gon or sorry. Yeah,
it's just not it's not as interesting. But I think
I think that's just a fall out of the way
that they designed how they were gonna do the show
in general, like you're gonna split it. One thing is
gonna get a little bit of more attention than the other.
It's kind of like like you know, if you're if

(22:45):
your parents and you have two kids, one kid's naturally
gonna get more attention than the other, you know what I.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
Mean that kind of thing, especially word no, you're right,
you're right. But okay, So moving on to more three
D animated content. I think this one got the biggest
pop at celebration in terms of animated stuff. It's a

(23:11):
new like so they did they did the Clone Wars,
did Rebels right, and then after Clone Wars and Rebels,
their new animated like feature length show was The Bad Batch.
And now the next lengthy animated show is going to
be based on Mal and it's gonna be called Mal
Shadow Lord. It's gonna take place between Clone Wars and Rebels.

(23:35):
He'll be training an apprentice. Possibly people are speculating that's
Darth talent, and mean you talked about this earlier. It
could be possible that this will take place around the
same time as Solo, just because we'll be seeing what
he was up to before like Mal's cameo at the end,
that cameo that was just never followed up on yep.

(23:56):
But I guess now we're we're getting a show to
talk about that cameo. Right, Maybe Kira will show up,
maybe the whole thing about the Crimson Dawn will come
into play, But for for right now, I think they
showed a teaser where he is just like he's just
training this new apprentice. Thinking about Mal as a character, now,
it's crazy to me that he literally beefs with everyone,

(24:18):
not not not only does he beef with the Jedi,
but he also beefs with the Sith, you know, and
he LIFs with all.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
The bounty hunters too, and like all the crime lords
and everyone.

Speaker 1 (24:28):
Like the ops are everywhere for him.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
I mean, it's it's self inflicted too, is the thing. Like,
I mean, he just wants like fucking complete power, you know,
And I think he like his just like pure anger
and drive for power like blinds him to the possibilities
of Like, dude, you don't need to make enemies everywhere.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
So, but any any thoughts from you on.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
This, I think it's gonna be good, you know, not
to like say what you've already said about like timeline
and everything, but it should be it should be fun
to kind of see like how he his character development,
Like like he's his character has already been developed a lot,

(25:11):
but it should be cool to see it in a
different light. Get just get more fat on the bones essentially.
But I will say the one negative thing about this
announcement is that and something that disappoints me a little
bit is the fact that like we're still stuck on
like you know, plugging, plugging the gaps of things between

(25:33):
the prequels and the sequels, right, Like we're not talking
about prior to the Skywalker saga. We're not talking about
you know, post Skywalker saga. But I do have a
theory on all that, and I think that's that Lucasfilms
is intentionally making sure that they fill in the blanks
in all the spaces between everything within the Skywalker saga

(25:54):
before they really move on either past or before, which
I think is is a good move. But I just
want that stuff now, Like yeah, I mean, like I
want like that Dawn of the Jedi. I I want
to see what they do with Ray's character, even though
that's still technically Skywalker saga, right, because she's a skywalker.

(26:15):
So yeah, but I'm here.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Maybe maybe, yeah, maybe they'll they'll walk away from in
that movie. But we'll talk movies in a bit.

Speaker 2 (26:22):
Yeah. I just know that this is gonna be way
better than Skeleton Grew. And it's gonna be not like
Skeleton Groow was bad. We already talked about it. It's
gonna be substantial for sure. It's gonna be like a
little happetizer, I think.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
And I feel like they might go with like like
try to go like a little a little edge here
with this, you know, try to like do things that
they haven't done with U with their animated shows before,
simply because of the nature of like mal as a character,
because I mean, you never really like Clone Wars Rebels
bad Batch, You're just focusing on the heroes. And with this,

(26:56):
it's like, yeah, they could, they could go a little
a little crazy with this one. I like.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
And it's kind of like I was saying earlier, it
kind of like satisfies that fan who's looking for more
of the dark dark side stuff, you know, tragedy and
anger and you know, frustration and conflict and all that
kind of stuff.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
So the last bit of animation stuff. We got news
of Star Wars Vision season three. This is like their
anime stuff, like their their anime anthology series. They're doing
sequel episodes from season one, one of them being they're
doing a sequel episode to like that first black and

(27:33):
White one. I forget the name of it.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
Is that where he is the Umbrella lightsaber.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
Yep, they're doing a sequel episode to that. That shit
was awesome that that was making peak Star Wars episode. Yeah,
there's another one that they're doing a sequel episode two,
I forget the name of it. They're also doing sequl
episodes to the ninth the Jedi. I don't know if
you remember. Yeah, I don't know if you remember the
ninth Jedi episode, but that was pretty fun too. That's
when they did like they introduced this ida where they

(28:01):
had like these translucent lightsabers, and it wasn't until like
you became like fully like a fully formed Jedi that
like it gets its color or something.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
Do you remember this, Yeah?

Speaker 1 (28:12):
Yeah, or Jedi or Jedi or Sith whatever it is.
But yeah, I know, this is getting like a full
on like season of TV. They're doing like a whole
like I don't know how many episodes it's gonna be,
but it's there's gonna be like six or seven episodes
of animated television of the ninth like based on the
Ninth Jedi story, which is kind of interesting, you know,

(28:34):
Like I mean I like Visions. I like Visions more
than like like Skeleton Crew or the Aclyte Like I
just like the anthology stories. But to do like a
full feature like season of TV.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Yeah, I think they could go one way or the
other because I think the reason why I like both
seasons of Visions so much is that it was there's
no story arcing or anything. Every every single episode was
its individual story and it was done by different studio,
and I think that's why it made it unique. I
think it can be really good because I love the

(29:07):
animation style other the Ninth Jedi. The story's cool, like
their kind of idea of what Star Wars is to them,
like the people that made that episode is cool. But
I think it could go wrong, just because I think
a lot of people like Visions for the same reasons
I do. And that's like every single episode was different.

(29:30):
But the first two seasons pretty much every episode was
really good except for kind of like the more g
rated ones.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
Now there was somewhere there, like it was just focused
on a band and for some reason, Boba Fett, wasn't it.
Do you remember that one?

Speaker 2 (29:42):
Yeah? So random, dude, But it's fine. I can't really
talk a lot of shit on that because it's so
like outside of the sphere of main star Wars, you
know what I mean. It's just like a different production
companies or like directors view of what it is or
like their idea, you know, like it's not Lucas or

(30:03):
Felony or Kennedy or anybody in any of the main
people in Lucasfilms.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
Well, I mean they're obviously still like like they don't
have their hands on it, but like they green light
this stuff, right right, they just kind of like bring
on the animators, bring on the like the the different
production companies or whatever, and they just kind of let
them cook, you know, like they let them do what
they want.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
Like Lucasfilm and Disney they're still behind it, but just
to put you know, their logo on it. But for
the most part, it's like do what you want with it.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
I think that's what I think is the most exciting
part about animation as far as Star Wars stuff is concerned,
is that they this is where they do like or
they I feel like where they take the most risks
and where they take the most creative swings, and sometimes,
like i'd say more times than not, it shines. Yeah,

(30:56):
like that they have a better track record as of
recent anyway for their animated stuff versus like everything else.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
I'd say eighty five percent of the total amount of
episodes between the first two seasons of Visions were valuable
and really fun to watch and very artistic and creative.

Speaker 1 (31:16):
So good on animation. But I think that's all we
have there. Let's move into live action TV. Like we
mentioned mentioned a couple of times here, and Or season
two coming soon. There have been a lot of early
reactions online, like a lot of journalists that have seen
the full like season of and Or already are saying like,

(31:38):
you know, no surprise here, It's just it's another masterpiece
of supposedly like the cast and like Tony Gilroy, and
people have always been saying like, oh, like once you
finish and or season two, like you will look at
Rogue one differently and and and a New Hope differently.

(32:00):
So that's really exciting. Like there's uh, there's like nods
to a new hope. Supposedly there's even a nod to
the Force Awakens somehow, not not like by a cameo.
I don't know how they're gonna do that because that's
like far far out like that that like reaches beyond
like you know, Return of the Jedi obviously, but didn't
really reveal too much. They were just like, you know, saying,

(32:22):
there fell farewells at celebration and like you were telling
me about that video you saw Diego Luna, like how
like how excited he was about the show.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
Good?

Speaker 1 (32:32):
But yeah, so I mean I'm like, supposedly it's better
than season one. I mean that that's already like such
a bar to clear. But we'll see. Man, I'm excited.
But what any you have any thoughts on and or
before we start watching it?

Speaker 2 (32:46):
Dude? What two days this coming Tuesday?

Speaker 1 (32:50):
Yeah, man, I hope the premiere is at a at
a reasonable hour. I know.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
I mean I'm not gonna get off work until Wednesday
morning at two, so it's gonna be like dangerous for me,
Like I might actually have to hold off until I'm
off of work. So that I can just binge the
first three episodes because I can't stay up for two
hours when I get home, so I because I want
to watch them all in succession. Dude. Yeah, I'm so

(33:16):
excited for it. The number one best thing that I've
seen so far is that Cassie and is piloting a
fucking tie defender. Is just fantastic, and it looks like
he's saving I forget the character's name, but it's like
one like his best friend from Oh my god, what's
the planet where they stayed? Ferris from Feryx? Yeah, it's

(33:39):
his best friend, right, Bix. Yeah, Like he's saving Bix.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
See watching that like first a little bit of the
panel for and or with all the actors, seeing Diego
Luna like just thank all the fans, Like he started
crying because he knows how special the project is, and
then I start crying and just gets me more for everything.
The things that Diego Luna had to say about like
how well Alan Tuddick created and like brings a two

(34:11):
to life is just like so cool and it makes
you look back on season one and be like yeah,
like when you're hearing it from the actors, it just
makes you like, appreciate the project even more. It's gonna
be fantastic. Man, I'm assuming we might see a little
bit of you know, some some characters that hopefully we
get introduced to, like one or two characters that haven't

(34:33):
been introduced yet. I'm super soked Cee Force Whittaker back
fucking love him. His character's amazing. We all love Sagarera.
And yeah, I it's gonna be fantastic. I mean it's
gonna be the best project of the year by far.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
Yeah. No, I'm really hoping that we get It's funny.
Someone asked, I forget his first name, but the guy
that plays Luthen, he's one of the Scars guards. I
think Stone Scars guard.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
Someone asked him, are we gonna get another uh Looten
monologue like we did from season one. He's like, no, like,
we're not gonna top that can, which is fair, Like, yeah,
it's fair. But what I am hoping though, is that
we get a good monologue from from mon Mathma. I
feel like they're I've seen shots from the trailer where

(35:20):
like she's like, you know, speaking to everyone in the Senate,
and I feel like that'll be the like it feels
like it's gonna be a highlight of the show. Bullsy man,
I'm I'm super excited for Indoor season two, and I'm
I'm really happy that we we we have it, you know,
and you know the Star Wars for adults, you know.

Speaker 2 (35:40):
And the ISB has is gonna have no limitations onto
what they can do in this season. Like they're pretty
much gonna have like the ultimate authority of the Building
Empire at the moment. We're gonna get what's this what's
his name? I can't remember the freaking actors name, but

(36:00):
the one who plays the the guy who invented the
Death Star plans or like came up with the Death
Star plans Dylan nerdso no or sorry, he's the one.
He didn't invent it. He's the one who is spearheading
the project.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
Oh, Krenick, Krenick.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
We're gonna get Krenick on sure.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
Ben Mendelssohn, Yeah, Ben Mendelssohn, Yeah, he's for sure. And uh,
he's for sure, and he's been in trailers and stuff.

Speaker 2 (36:26):
So yeah, it's gonna be amazing. It's just gonna be
this crazy final build up to the most like climactic
moment we've seen in Star Wars for a long time,
and I can just feel it.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
I am curious though, because I think Tony Gilroy said
this in an interview that there's a returning character, like
a classic Star Wars character. Maybe not classic like that,
but supposedly they had to. I think it might be
someone from Rogue one, someone that's in Rogue one they
had to be cast for the show because because of

(37:05):
like scheduling conflicts and stuff. But he didn't say who
it was, so I'm wondering who it might be.

Speaker 2 (37:10):
Is it the pilot?

Speaker 1 (37:11):
Oh Rizam ed, Yeah, I don't think it'll be him.
I don't think it'll be anyone that. I don't think
it's gonna be anyone that was like part of the crew.

Speaker 2 (37:20):
Like Super Yeah, like Super main character.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
Yeah, my guess it is, uh maybe bail or Ghana.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
I had to recast him.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
They might have had to recast him because of like
scheduling stuff. That sad to be that or I don't know.
I don't think it's any It shouldn't be anybody that's
too like like, I don't think it's gonna be gin
No because they don't they don't meet until they don't
meet until Rogue one for the first time, Like, but
unless they're showing her like rolling with Sav's crew before,

(37:53):
you know, right.

Speaker 2 (37:55):
The only other person I can think of. I can't
really think of anything else because because if it's a
scheduling conflict, then maybe that person is like filming something
else as well.

Speaker 1 (38:06):
Anyways, Yeah, that's and Or season two. Let's talk about Ahsoka.
Now THEHSOCA season two little details that we got Hayden
Christensen's back. We're gonna get Admiral Akbar's back, and he's
like supposedly like him and Thron are gonna go like
head to head with like some strategic combat or white
have you, and then rest in peace to Ray Stevenson.

(38:30):
But we also got the first look at Rory McCann
as Balin's skull. He looks good, like he looks good
And I didn't know you told me this. I didn't
know Rory and Ray we're friends like that either, But
you could tell that Roy is probably gonna like do
everything he can to make sure he embodies the character,
which is which is gonna be fun. They also showed

(38:50):
us like some concept art. Of course, all the all
the rebels are back. I think we see Ahsoka fighting
like a giant droid or some shit on whatever planet
they ended up at. We'll see. We'll see about Ahsoka
season two. I mean, I'm like, I wasn't the biggest
fan of like I liked Ahsoka like that. I thought

(39:13):
there were parts of it that were obviously awesome. I'm
mostly speaking to obviously the episode with Hayden and Ahsoka
and like the world between World stuff like of course, yeah,
all that show was perfection. It was the rest of
the show that just didn't really hit the mark for me.
I expect season two to be like, you know, a
little a little better. But boy, do you what do

(39:34):
you think any any these things excite you?

Speaker 2 (39:38):
Yeah? No, I mean seeing Rory McCann come, yeah, like
the the first look at him, he looks great. Hearing
that I didn't know that Ray and Rory were were
close friends until like this past couple of weeks, and that,
you know, it's very heartwarming to hear that. The one
thing that I am the most excited about for this

(39:59):
is that we are going to ge more Thron and
him doing like probably strategic like space battles is That's
what Thron is known for like Thron is known for
being one of the best. I guess you would call
it the navy, like one of the best naval commanders.
And Akbar is like one of the best in the

(40:19):
Rebellion two or like the Republic now or the New Republic.
We're also gonna get more Oh wait, no, I'm thinking
of Mandalorian and Grogu. I was gonna say, we're gonna
get Zebnap. I think he is gonna be in both. Yeah,
we're gonna should get more of him. The thing I'm
excited about the most, though, is that this is gonna supposedly,

(40:42):
especially the way that they ended season one, is gonna
explore more of the Mortis gods, which I love. And
then talking about just like theoretical stuff. Do you think
we're gonna get any sort of like able off Natalie
Portman maybe being able off the thing?

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Do you think that's just like and is that the
theory is that Natalie Portman is gonna be Abeloth?

Speaker 2 (41:06):
Yeah, that's what. Well, that's one that I've heard.

Speaker 1 (41:08):
I've never heard that. Actually, I never even like speculated
that or think that would be a possibility, But they're
saying it because like, like Anakin is the father, now,
isn't Abeloth technically the mother yet?

Speaker 2 (41:22):
So the the whole thing with the mother. I think
this is why people are theorizing it is because I
don't well, they haven't quite said that Anakin is the
father at this moment, but I think that's where it's
kind of potentially leading to. But if you go back
to the Mortise arc of the Clone Wars, he did
not become the father right, like he refused it, but

(41:43):
he did clearly exemplify the fact that he could control
the son and daughter. But I think the theory is
that he because he said no to being the father
the mother technically also in like their long storyline and
how long they've been around, she was what the father
was doing as well, Like she used to be evil.

(42:05):
She became the mother to keep balance between the son
and the daughter, but then she like did this whole
kind of like Odysseian kind of thing where she like
drank the water of whatever too much, and then she
became possessed again and became evil again. But why it
would be padme, I don't know where people are getting

(42:28):
that from, Like, I don't know how they're trying to
connect that other than the fact that it's just because
Anakin loved him so much and he was supposed to
be the father and then you know, she was his
wife and you know, you know, bores children and that
kind of that kind of stuff. But yeah, I did,
I did hear that theory, and you know, I think

(42:49):
it's a possibility, but I don't truly think it's gonna happen.
I think that they'd probably more focus on Anakin actually
becoming the father at the end of all of.

Speaker 1 (42:57):
It, right right, Yeah, No, I could see the able
stuff happening. I just don't think it'll be Natalie Portant.

Speaker 2 (43:04):
That liportman, Yeah, or that would be evolved.

Speaker 1 (43:07):
Yeah, that would be interesting, it could if they do
do that would be a yeah, no, that would be
a swing. That'd be quite the swing.

Speaker 2 (43:16):
And also you know that like like I mean, it's
like Padme and Ahsoka were super close for a long
time too, so it's not like that far fetched. Right Again,
I don't I don't think that's the direction in which
they would take it. Regardless, I think we're gonna see
some more great lightsaber combat. In my mind, still, nothing

(43:36):
beats Revenge of the Sith but the lightsaber combat does
continue to get pretty damn good. I mean, even in
the Acolyte that lightsaber combat was great. And Rosario Dawson's
been training even more and more like she's doing more
like martial arts stuff with the lady who plays I
keep forgetting her name, the one she originally fought in

(43:58):
the Mandalorian.

Speaker 1 (43:59):
Oh, I forget her name, but she soa yeah, well
she died at the end of a soca right, Oh
she did die.

Speaker 2 (44:08):
Yeah, that's right. Yeah, because she was like part of
the like Bruce Lee family or something, right, like that
tree of martial arts.

Speaker 1 (44:17):
I think so. Yeah, But but.

Speaker 2 (44:20):
What I've heard is that Rosario Dawson's like continuing continuing
to work on like the martial arts stuff I think
with her even though she's not in the show anymore
or she's dead. So hopefully we're gonna get some good,
some more good lightsaber action.

Speaker 1 (44:35):
With exception to the the Anakin versus ah Soka episode.
I think like she I thought she was pretty weak
with all the lightsabers stuff in Yeah, but you I know,
I one can only hope that she she will be
better and she's improving at the same time, though, It's

(44:55):
like I think Hayden Christian is just that good that
everyone else, everyone else would just look lame in comparison.

Speaker 2 (45:03):
Well, and he worked so hard to do all of
that for this, for the prequel trilogy, like him training
that hard, I think for him at this point now
it's kind of just like second nature, like he remembers
all of it. He probably has continued to practice all
of it throughout all this time. That kind of stuff.
He's hard to beat, man, I mean him and Obi.

Speaker 1 (45:24):
Wan, Yeah, I mean, we'll see, We'll see how it goes.
I think that starts. Like one of the big piece
of news from this too is that I think it
starts filming this week. I think this might have a
twenty twenty six release date as well. So we'll see, man,
we'll see how.

Speaker 2 (45:39):
Yeah, Favro said, all the costumes done, they've they've already
finished building all the sets, like they're ready to rock.
So I think, you know, my final thought on it, it's
gonna be at minimum marginally better than season one, Like
it will be better, but like how much better will
it be? Who knows? It could blow us out of

(45:59):
the water, But time will tell.

Speaker 1 (46:02):
Time will tell. Indeed, all right, let's talk some movies.
First piece of news, we got a little more man
Do and Grogu details. They did show a new teaser
which is not released with the public. I saw leaked.
I didn't see the fold teaser for this, but I
did see a leaked action sequence that they did, which
honestly looks fucking amazing. It's pretty much a one take

(46:26):
like sequence, one take action sequence where it's just a
Mando taking down an Imperial Walker and it's just really
really well done. I was honestly like surprised that they
cooked like this. I always love just like an extended
one take shot, especially if it's if it's action though,

(46:48):
because you really don't see great one take action unless
it's like a John Wick movie. All Right, I'm really
great glad that they went there with this, So that
was really cool. We see Sigourney Weaver in the teaser,
and she's like part of the New Republic, and I'm
guessing she recruits Mando for something. Get a shot of

(47:11):
Groku swimming and then I think, right, but like, uh,
you know, sometimes whenever they do teasers, they flash the
title card and then right after the title card, there's
like one more shot of something that's supposed to be
like a big reveal.

Speaker 2 (47:27):
So like the Big five seconds or something.

Speaker 1 (47:29):
Yeah, so the big reveal for this was Rota was
Rota the Hut. And I guess Rata in this is
like it's the people have described him as a gladiator,
so he like fights people. But I think it's more
so like he hosts fights, you.

Speaker 2 (47:49):
Know what I mean, how does a giant slug fight?

Speaker 1 (47:52):
Supposedly, he's just he's fucking jacked. That's what I hear
is that he's huge, like he has massive arms and
he shredded.

Speaker 2 (48:01):
Just throw some salt on him, he'll burn.

Speaker 1 (48:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (48:03):
So Phylis though I can't believe this Rota stuff is
actually like coming to fruition.

Speaker 1 (48:09):
I I honestly I love that it's real, Like I
just want to see it. It's funny because I tweeted
this this picture, this leaked picture of Rata. It was
just him in the in the arena, just like flexing.
This tweet kind of like went sort of viral and
people are like reposting it saying like like a wait,

(48:30):
hold on, hear me out.

Speaker 2 (48:32):
You know, I don't yeah, I don't want to know
where people are going with those.

Speaker 1 (48:36):
Honestly, sometimes people are like, wait, he's kinda he's kind
of y'all, y'all are real sickos out there. Yeah, So
Mandoin Grogan movie, have no idea what it's gonna be about.
My My only hope is that because I feel like
Disney is trying to do has tried doing this before,

(48:57):
because I'm not, like, I don't really care for the
Milana movies, but supposedly Mawana came out and it was
a huge success, and then like when Disney Plus launched,
they tried doing like a sequel to the Milana movie
by making a Moana show, and the Milana Show they

(49:19):
switched to that from being a show and like tried
piecing it together and putting it in the movies, which
made a lot of money. But from what I hear,
I never watched it myself, but from what I hear,
it was very obvious that like this is like a
last minute piece together type of thing, and so that
ended up being like like people were saying, like, like

(49:40):
it it's noticeable and it doesn't work for the movie.
I'm hoping that's not the case with the Mandoin Grogan movie.
Like I'm hoping that this was not meant to be
like a season four and they're just like restitching it
together to make like a two hour movie instead. I mean,
Rata sounds hilarious. The one take looked really good, so

(50:03):
I kind of think it's not the case. But we'll
see how it goes. I'm excited looking forward to it.
But any do you have any thoughts on the mangnal
Go Good movie.

Speaker 2 (50:13):
Yeah, I really hope that is not the case with
the Mandalorian movie. Like, I hope it's not just an
extension of the like the first three seasons, because I
feel like they could do, like they could probably go
a lot of different directions with the movie, like and
like what they're particularly gonna focus on. I hope the

(50:35):
main focus is action. Honestly, like the fact that you
saw the league scene and it was like that that
one take just like honestly, when you were describing the scene,
it kind of made me think of like like some
of the Boba like Boba or Django Fett kind of
like space battle scenes that are you know, those are

(50:57):
obviously epic, and I really hope that's just what the
MOVI movie focuses on for the most part. Visually. I
hope there's just some amazing action, because I mean, Den
Jarnon's an amazing pilot. But I hope it extends the
story of obviously Grogu and there's actually some substance behind
his story and him like becoming more for sensitive as

(51:19):
like the movie goes on, and then just kind of
laying out the like the lay of the land during
this time of Star Wars, because this is what posts at.

Speaker 1 (51:31):
The sean it's post season three.

Speaker 2 (51:33):
Yeah, so it's gonna awakens pre Force awakens, so it's
getting close to the Force awakens, and so hopefully there's
enough like connective tissue between this and the sequel trilogy.
But it doesn't focus too much on trying to tie
the timeline together, like I hope it just focuses on

(51:56):
action and then the story of Grogul and and Mando obviously.
But I just think it's gonna be a very weird feeling,
like a weird in a good way, like a great
feeling of seeing just Mando on the big screen. I
think it's gonna be just visually awesome.

Speaker 1 (52:12):
I know, at the very least, I mean, because the
at least the first season of the Mandalorian felt pretty
cinematic and had like a movie quality to it.

Speaker 2 (52:22):
So even just the first scene of the the first
scene of the first episode is very, very cinematic. You know,
are they filming any of this on the volume? I
think I asked that question maybe on a like a
couple pods ago. But do you know if it's any
of it's gonna be done on the volume?

Speaker 1 (52:38):
I don't know for certain. What I do know is
that this is gonna be like one of the cheaper
Star Wars movies that have ever been made. I think
it's like sub two hundred million, So I would assume
you wouldn't usually they like dump money into these movies.
I think we talked about this on the last pot,

(53:00):
but we did.

Speaker 2 (53:00):
Yeah, is it cheaper using the volume compared to like
building new sets, I would assume.

Speaker 1 (53:06):
So I don't know. I mean, I would assume it's
cheaper to shoot on location and do stuff for a practically,
But I guess it's just I guess it's just like
a screen.

Speaker 2 (53:18):
He's just using electricity and then building in the middle
of the three sixties screen like whatever set you need
to be in the middle of it, right, So I
guess the other reason I asked too, because when Anthony
Daniels came on Star Wars celebration, he was talking about
and I don't know if you saw, but did you
see the jacket he was wearing. No, dude, it was

(53:41):
like this like glittered gold jacket. Like it was like
a fancy ass like straight up jacket. Yeah it was. Yeah,
it was dope. But he was talking about his experience
walking into the volume for the first time, and I like,

(54:02):
I kind of want them to do it for Mando
and Grogu because I just feel like they can achieve
like crazy shots with it. I don't know, we'll see.
I mean, the fact that it's cheaper tells me they'll
probably use it. But either way, what's the release date?
It's gonna be May supposed to be May of next year, Yeah,

(54:23):
May twenty six. I need a little bit more, but
at least they did show some stuff.

Speaker 1 (54:30):
It's It's like it was one of the concerns we
had when we talked about like the current state of
Star Wars in the last part was like they're gonna
announce all this shit and like none of it's gonna happen,
But like they actually like showed some footage here, so
I do think we're for certain getting it. Mandalorin and
Grogu like, this is like set in Stone already. But

(54:51):
that's all I have on it. Did you have anything
else on that?

Speaker 2 (54:55):
No, just that like just to kind of like piggyback
on like the last you know, like State of Star
or because it's kind of more of an ending thought,
but just in general, like I just think this Star
Wars celebration already is like a step up from the
last one and the projects that we've gotten prior to
this one. Like it's just like a little bit more

(55:16):
of a step in the right direction.

Speaker 1 (55:17):
I think, yeah, for sure, But like I'm.

Speaker 2 (55:19):
A little lackluster, a little lacklustered by it, but not
as much of what they announced the last one and
what came out of it, like actually seeing the projects
that they announced, you know, but I'm excited. I mean,
I'm you're definitely gonna catch me in the theaters for it,
for Mando and Grogue.

Speaker 1 (55:36):
No, But to be honest with you, like just to
go back to the animation stuff, I mean, I didn't
know anything about this animation stuff, but most of the
live action stuff we already kind of had an idea
about you know, like in or season two wasn't new.
Ahsoka wasn't like they didn't announce anything brand new. Maybe
the last talking point we have maybe kind of brand new,

(55:57):
because I think that was more so just like a rumor.
But well, we'll talk about in a second. But speaking
of things that might still be canceled even though they
announced it again, the only reason why I think they
still there's still like i'd say, like sixty forty chance
that one of these gets canceled is mostly because they
didn't show us anything from this stuff, you know. So
there's why tds Star Wars movie. There's Mangold Star Wars movie,

(56:20):
which is like the down of the Jedi one. And
then I'm butchering this person's name, but I think it's
Obayid Schanoi. She's directing Ray's movie, which is gonna be
like at like postsequel trilogy. And then there's a trilogy
by Simon Kinberg. I didn't know much about Kinberg, but
I just know like one thing was that he was

(56:41):
like one of the I think producers on Star Wars Rebels.
Maybe his trilogy could be good. I don't know when
it's gonna take place. We just know that he's doing
a Star Wars trilogy. So like within those four names,
any one of those could get the boot.

Speaker 2 (56:55):
You know, I mean he said Simon Kinberg. Yeah, he
did a fuck ton of X Men stuff.

Speaker 1 (57:04):
Yeah, x Men and and Rebels.

Speaker 2 (57:09):
And and rebels. He was definitely on Rebels too.

Speaker 1 (57:11):
Well. See, I mean the the X Men stuff wasn't
that great.

Speaker 2 (57:14):
You know, I just didn't realize. I mean, I just
didn't realize how much of it he was tyed to,
like just looking at the IMDb, like, holy Holy hell.
Did mister and Missus Smith too?

Speaker 1 (57:27):
Oh? You know, I like mister Missus Smith. I thought
that was a fun movie. Like I said, though, like
like nothing there really excites me. Just that like they
said it was happening and like, well it could get
canceled tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (57:41):
So so you so you're saying that those three are
like back on Well, they just said that they're they're
like working on it, you know, Like they didn't show
they didn't show stills, they didn't say like what these
movies would be about, Like they didn't show footage or
anything from it, Like how they showed the Mandoin go movie,
you know, Yeah, And I think like out of all

(58:04):
three of those, like a Star Wars White Tt movie
has a lot of potential, like we we we talked
about this when they first announced it, but then you know,
eventually they canceled it. Just a Dawn of the Jedi
movie has a shit ton of potential, but it has

(58:24):
an equal amount of like, you could really fuck this up,
you know what I mean, because there's nothing on screen
that's ever talked about that era of the universe ever.
You gotta be real careful like trying to tackle that
kind of project, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (58:41):
But I like James Mangled as a director.

Speaker 2 (58:43):
Sure, for sure.

Speaker 1 (58:45):
I don't know if you've if you ever watched Logan,
but he directed that. He recently did a complete unknown,
the Bop Dylan movie, which I like, So he has like,
you know, he's he's obviously a good director. But what's
his Star Wars movie gonna be about?

Speaker 2 (59:01):
Yeah, like trying to transplant directors like that into a
giant family like that essentially, you know, because like most
of the people that are in lucasfilms right now are
like have been there for long enough to be like
I'm like seasoned within within the company, but again I
like it. That's that's the whole thing about having potential,

(59:23):
Like you can do something really good with it, or
you can just ruin the opportunity. Right. I think I've
said this before, like a white Tt movie would be
really good if if you went kind of like the
thor Ragnarok kind of direction where there's a lot of
like comedic relief, you know, but then it you know,

(59:44):
pans into a scene that's just like full of crazy action.
And then I think out of the three, yeah, man
goal to be one number one for me that I
would trust the most to do something with Star Wars.
Then white Tt, and then the the third one I
can't pronounce the name either.

Speaker 1 (01:00:03):
Yeah no, I mean yeah, I don't know what she's done,
Lee shall see. And then this was like the first
I think, no, the Mandoin gro Goop panel kicked it off,
but then this one was next, and then I think
this is where everyone kind of has like a strong
opinion on it. It's the Star Wars movie, directed by Sean Leevy,

(01:00:24):
starring Ryan Gosling. This was given a release date for
May twenty twenty seven, so this one has a little
more meat on the bones compared to the other three. Sure,
mostly because they Gosling came out like it was rumored
that this movie was happening and that it was rumored
that Goslin wasn star in it, but they just confirmed it.

(01:00:46):
There they have a cast member attached to it. They're
calling it a standalone movie, like a standalone story that
takes place a few years after Rise of Skywalker, and
it's called Star Wars Starfighter. From what I know about
like Sean Levy's movies, they're all more on the lighthearted side,
you know, like yeah, Free Guy, Deadpool and Wolverine. I

(01:01:08):
mean it's it's silly, but it's very violent, but it's
it's kind of like silly, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:01:14):
Yeah, Deadpool is supposed to be that way, but.

Speaker 1 (01:01:17):
His character, like sometimes it the sometimes the characters in
his movies like have like a like a quick genuine
moment of like like the script just has like a
little heart to it, you know. It doesn't feel like
most like most of it is like kind of sloppy,
but sometimes there's just like oh man, you really you
really tried going for something here, you know. I'm like

(01:01:38):
I'm not like against this, I wouldn't say I'm like
the most excited. I don't really care for Shawn Levy
as director. I think his movies are like more mid
tier for me, except for De Real Steels, Real Steal. Yeah,
but I like Gozzling a lot. I think the biggest
thing here is that it's like whether Star Wars should

(01:02:00):
be casting a list like big stars versus casting unknowns.
I think there's room for both, Like if any if
like White CD Mangled or Obeachian Noise or the Simon
Kimbrig Triple Move Forward, Like that's like four different movies
that are potentially in development that where you could cast
unknowns right right, But like I guess Fresh Slate almost.

(01:02:22):
What I think this will kind of guarantee is that
this will get butts and seats, you know, and I
think Star Wars. I think Star Wars needs a kind
of win like that to kind of try to to
to finance the rest of the stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:02:37):
You know, Like, yeah, that's a great point, would it
be quality?

Speaker 1 (01:02:42):
Who's to say, like, we don't have we don't know
anything about this movie. I don't know anything about this movie,
but I'm definitely not like against it, Like I don't
even think it sounds like, I don't know, I think
it's it's fine to me.

Speaker 2 (01:02:54):
I initially when you sent that to me, like out
of all like the you know, like the small flur
of like news that came out, that was the first
thing that caught my attention was Ryan Gosling being like
the main actor of a new standalone Star Wars movie,
because I kind of had that thought of like, okay,
are we are we running out of like well known

(01:03:16):
actors to get into Star Wars. And that's not a
slight against Ryan Gosling. It's just more of like.

Speaker 1 (01:03:23):
Why Ryan Gosling?

Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
Why right exactly?

Speaker 1 (01:03:26):
Like all like of all A listers and look.

Speaker 2 (01:03:30):
I'm I'm not gonna lie anytime. And this is just
the brain rot part of my head and my brain
anytime I hear the name Ryan Gosling or anything Ryan
Gosling related, I just cannot help but think of the
meme that's like, hey, buddy, what are you having? Waves
it off drinks on the house and then he like

(01:03:51):
shoot snaps his head to from the bar, senor.

Speaker 1 (01:03:55):
This is from the nice Guys, isn't it?

Speaker 2 (01:03:58):
Yeah? Like that that's scene just comes to my head
every time I think of Ryan Gosling. So it's for
my personal brain, it's hard to take him seriously. But
that's just because of what I'm in putting into my brain, right,
I guess I have a question. Do you think that
Ryan Gosling has a lot of range? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:04:17):
I think he's an awesome actor.

Speaker 2 (01:04:18):
Okay, so that being the case. Honestly, I have not
seen a whole lot of Ryan Gosling's movies. One of
my buddies was saying, like, you know, because I like
told I was like, hey, did you see the news
about Starfighter? And he was like, yeah, like Brian Gosling
has as much range as Kiera Knightley does. I don't
understand that. What is it? Like, what does that mean?

(01:04:39):
Does that mean he doesn't means or he does?

Speaker 1 (01:04:42):
Yeah? No, but it's autod actress but it's.

Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
And it's a quote from a movie too. So I
was like super confused, like because I don't know enough
about Ryan Gosling to like kind of make a comment
on it. All in all, thinking about like everything that
he's been in and then the director Sean Levy and
what he's done, I think he can implement like kind
of what Ryan Reynolds has done in the you know,

(01:05:08):
Dead Blowe and Wolverine and Free Guy and kind of
implement that with Ryan Gosling into a star Fighter movie.
And I think that would work if you you can
kind of understand where I'm going with it, Like like
you said, it'll be like there'll be some wholehearted moments,
but like what the actual plot is gonna be and
what the like the movie's gonna be about. Like that's

(01:05:30):
where I'm like, I have no idea where this is going,
Like I'm at a loss. Is it just gonna be
a pilot movie? Is the title of the movie like
a little bit like misdirecting? This is gonna be about
something completely different? I have no idea.

Speaker 1 (01:05:44):
Okay, So I actually have a couple thoughts for you.
I'm not I'm reading too much into it, but it
was just something that I noticed. He was wearing a
hat that said never tell me the odds, which I'm like, Okay,
I feel like he's going for something there, Okay, but
again I don't know with that. What I'm trying to
say is like, because what is that, I don't think

(01:06:05):
Never tell Me the Odds is a Han Solo quote.

Speaker 2 (01:06:07):
That that's Han Solo. Okay, yeah, like not what is
it from? But what part of Star Wars is it from?

Speaker 1 (01:06:12):
I think it's I think it's I think he said
in a New Hope somewhere. So I mean, I think,
you know, if they're trying to go for like that
kind of vibe, like if it's gonna be like like
a riff on like Han Solo, like trying to bring
back that cool type of character to Star Wars. I
think that's in smooth talking, outlaw pilot type of thing.

(01:06:34):
I think Gosling can do that very well. Sure, maybe
he won't be a maybe he won't be a smuggler.
I also have another thought about this is that it's
called Starfighter something. There's a part of me that feels
like this is going to be like a repurpose Remember
that Rangers of the New Republic thing.

Speaker 2 (01:06:51):
Yeah, I forgot about that.

Speaker 1 (01:06:53):
I think that was initially supposed to be directed by
I want to say it was Patty Jenkins, the person
not directed Wonder Woman, and it was strictly supposed to
be like a like an X Wing Fighter pilot movie.
Something happen that. Wait on, I might this might be wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
Hold on, No, there was, but but you're right, there
was gonna be like a like an X Wing Heavy.

Speaker 1 (01:07:17):
Uh oh, it was star It was Star Wars. Rogue Squadron,
Rogue squad That's what it was.

Speaker 2 (01:07:23):
Honestly, those games were great.

Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
So I feel like this could be like a like
a substitute or like they're keeping like the same bones
and idea of Rogue Squadron, right, Like what if this
is like Top Gun in Space. I'm dude, that's what
I feel like. Rogue Squadron or Rangers as the New
Republic was supposed to be was Top Gun in Space.

Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
I'm here for it because if there's anybody that could
be like the Tom Cruise but it's Star Wars. I
feel like Ryan Gosling could could be that, you know
what I mean, But like he knows that, like he's
self aware of like that's what it is, you know
what I mean?

Speaker 1 (01:07:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:08:00):
As an actor, you know, I'm here for it.

Speaker 1 (01:08:03):
Like the cool, suave, like kind of scummy character as
a pilot I think might be the kind of idea
that they're kind of going for here.

Speaker 2 (01:08:13):
Yeah, And as an audience, you're kind of gonna be
like the Leya, you know, like you love them but
you also hate him at the same time kind of thing.

Speaker 1 (01:08:19):
Yeah, So at the very least, this movie will I
think will be fun if any.

Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
Butts in the seats, and it's just gonna be fun,
like a step above, Like it's not just doing it
to attract new audiences, like that's part of it. It's
still kind of focusing on like tropes and things that
we've already seen with Han Solo and other characters and
Star Wars already. So it's nothing like new or like
forcing something too hard into it just to get butts

(01:08:48):
in the seat.

Speaker 1 (01:08:49):
That that was like a big like like assuming of No.
I mean, it feels pretty probable to me.

Speaker 2 (01:08:57):
That's a great, great thought. I think that's probably where
they go with it. I just doubt with just the
little that we do know about it, that it is
going to be a serious movie, you know what I mean.
It serious moments, but it's not gonna be serious.

Speaker 1 (01:09:14):
Yeah, I think it'll be completely void of like the
Force or anything like that. All the seriousness I think
we like and or season one and two are like,
you know, pretty like serious enough for Stars for the
time being.

Speaker 2 (01:09:30):
I mean, and you know what, who knows where Star
Wars goes at that point in the timeline because because
you said this is gonna be post Rise of Skywalker, Yeah,
post right, so who knows maybe, And they said there
would be potential for like sequel trilogy characters to show

(01:09:51):
up in it. Who knows, like maybe when the Ray
movie or like the Ray trilogy starts, like Ryan Gosling
shows up in that, you know, but like it's like
a minor character. Maybe Ray needs some sort of crazy
pilot like Han was in, you know, the original trilogy. Yeah,
I'm not saying that's where it's gonna go, but like
I think that gives them opportunity to do something like that.

(01:10:13):
Not like I want them to do that, but yeah,
I'm I'm here for man, that sounds really fun.

Speaker 1 (01:10:17):
Actually, if they get Oscar Isac in it, I'm kind
of down.

Speaker 2 (01:10:23):
Oscary against the pilot. That's one hell of a pilot.

Speaker 1 (01:10:29):
That's all I got for the movie stuff. And that's
all I really have written down for news out of
Star Wars celebration. Do you have anything at all?

Speaker 2 (01:10:38):
I think that's pretty much it, other than we get
some freaking new Fortnit skins coming up, you know what
I'm saying, oh, fucked.

Speaker 1 (01:10:47):
Completely forgot about the Fortnight skins. Okay, shout out Eric,
Shut Eric, shout out tomorros as he texted you. Okay,
so the Fortnite stuff. I don't play Fortnite, and I
probably never will not because not because I'm against Fortnite
or like, I hate Fortnite, but I'm just not good
at online gaming at all, and I don't really want

(01:11:09):
to practice either so like and get good at it.
So I'm not playing Fortnite. They announced a Star Wars like,
there's gonna be a Star Wars event happening in Fortnite
where they bring it in. Darth jar Jar the Sith Lord,
and Balpatine's also gonna be there. But man, did he

(01:11:30):
text you back at that? That shit's too funny.

Speaker 2 (01:11:32):
Eric still hasn't texted me back. He might be sleeping.
He's on an early early schedule now. But I kind
of hate Fortnite too. It's not that I don't like
br games like Battle Royale games where you drop in
its one hundred people, you elude you want to be
the last one surviving. It's not that at all. It's
just they just swoop all of the IP into the

(01:11:55):
game and it's just a huge money cow. Like it
it's just a very like millennials started Fortnite, but like
it just gets worse as the generations go on. If
you play, if you guys are listening to this and
you play Fortnite, I you know, I'm not trying to
offend you or anything. It's just not it's not a
fucking thing.

Speaker 1 (01:12:13):
Yes it's not. Yeah, I'm good.

Speaker 2 (01:12:17):
Like it's just the things that they do in the game.
But I think it's hilarious and I'm happy for Eric
because like one of those people that like Star Wars
but they like the most obscure and random things that
are in Star Wars. Back in the day, he always
had this not like what if you know jar Jar
Binks was a Sith lord or something.

Speaker 3 (01:12:38):
And then and then it actually came to fruition because
there were also other theories out there, like you know,
when he falls off the fucking ledge in uh, the
Phantom Menace when they're on he doesn't.

Speaker 1 (01:12:52):
He doesn't fall off ledge. He he does like thirty
flips into thirty into the dive into the water. I
literally just watched this scene the other night.

Speaker 2 (01:13:02):
He was the fun I mean, now o day proceeds
to put on the breathers. No. No, But then there's
the other there's the other scene where they're in Naboo
when they come back from Gungan City and they're with
all the guards and he gets pushed off of the
ledge and he like falls but really he's he like

(01:13:27):
just lands on his feet and people are like, oh
my god, he's a syth lord, like the most arbitrary
connection of all time. These crazy fan theories started coming
out online of like full detail of how jar Jar
Binks was actually gonna be a Sith Lord, and I'm
not gonna lie. Some of them sounded a little bit convincing.
I listen. I listened to a couple of them. But

(01:13:50):
then like like full circle, there's other people out there
like Eric who think this thing. And then they come
out with the show It's the Lego show, right.

Speaker 1 (01:14:00):
It's it's the Rebuild the Galaxy.

Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
It's Rebuild the Galaxy, and which announced the season two
for I guess I watch finished it.

Speaker 1 (01:14:10):
I watched it and I was like, Okay, this is
kind of funny, and then like the gimmick got old,
like really.

Speaker 2 (01:14:16):
Got old really fast. And but but Darth jar Jar
was in that because it's kind of like what if
the universe was like flipped upside down over its head
kind of thing.

Speaker 1 (01:14:30):
Yeah, and pretty much as all the good guys are
bad guys and the bad guys are good guys. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:14:34):
Yeah, And now to make Eric even happier, it's a
fucking character in Fortnite and we're all about to play
some Fortnite pretty soon here.

Speaker 1 (01:14:44):
So yeah, and I broke the news to Aaron before
we started recording this, and then Aaron texted him and
we're waiting for a response. The best day of his life.

Speaker 2 (01:14:55):
Dude, I know. And for all I know, he is
just grind for right now. He's just Fortnite right now.
He's just not even responding. He's like, oh my god,
this shit throws his phone out of the.

Speaker 1 (01:15:07):
Window and just do what if he already knows.

Speaker 2 (01:15:11):
She's He's already logged like a hundred matches and he's
like super good at the game just because Darth char
Jars in it. Well, the skins aren't out yet though,
I don't think.

Speaker 1 (01:15:21):
Yeah, they're not out yet. I'm not sure when they
come out, but yeah, they're coming. They're coming. So funny, dude,
talk about a character that like is just so funny
and fails forward so often, but it's actually not failing forward.
It's literally just him because he's he has the Force.

Speaker 2 (01:15:37):
That's it's just insane to think about. The whole dark
char Jar thing is just ridiculous. And you know what,
if you wanted to make a very widely hated character
even worse, just turn him into a Sith. Why don't
you just do that? And I'm not saying I hate him.
We we here and on Kuygriculture, we don't hate jar Jar.

Speaker 1 (01:16:00):
But yeah, shouts done, ad best.

Speaker 2 (01:16:02):
Dude, I'm ad best man. Only thing I got left
in Star Wars And just like Star Wars celebration, there
were like so many cool like action figures and like
collectibles and stuff that they they showed this one super
like prestigious like action figure kind of company made these
like three D models of like Anakin in his dark

(01:16:26):
robes and his long hair, like doing the Force choke.
They had episode four Obi Wan when he's like looking
at Darth Vader in the end of the movie. They
had Luke when he shows up in the Mandalorian and
you know he's got his lightsaber out in the hood
on but dude, those action figures look so realistic. They're

(01:16:49):
so cool. I kind of want to get my hands
on one. They also revealed like a new like if
you guys are into like Star Wars collectibles and like
helmets and stuff, they release a Death Trooper helmet but
like the lights on it are like, so it's an
all black Death Trooper helmet, but all the lights on
it are green and you can like adjust the brightness

(01:17:10):
and everything. Super super cool merchandise. And yeah, just like
watching some of the clips and like some of the
videos from Star Wars Celebration, I think Rosario Dawson said
that seventy five percent of the attendance were new to
Star Wars Celebration, so like they'd never been into one before,

(01:17:31):
which is really cool potentially new fans, you know, coming
into the the franchise. Yeah, a lot of probably other
cool like minor things from there that I didn't get
a chance to see yet. But I think we're projected
upwards from here, Like I feel like last Star Wars
Celebration and everything that's come out, we're definitely going downwards,

(01:17:52):
but I think we're starting to come back up a
little bit.

Speaker 1 (01:17:55):
Trying to pick back up. Yeah, once once we watched
some and or be we'll be hatching up the some
of the some of the holes that are in the
boat and then we'll be we'll be floating along.

Speaker 2 (01:18:08):
And also shout out to my dad he hasn't watched
in or season one yet and he no, he no, no,
he know he has, but you know what, he hasn't
watched Rogue one. Rogue one, And I'm like, dude, you
are in a special position right now.

Speaker 1 (01:18:23):
Yeah, tell him to save Rogue one until we finish.

Speaker 2 (01:18:28):
Uh. Yeah, oh he knows, he yeah, he knows for sure.
And he's getting all these like Star Wars memes coming
into or like shorts coming into his YouTube feed. Keep
sending me all of them, like he's sent me a
clip of like a.

Speaker 4 (01:18:43):
Perimeter arounte no form a perimeter around.

Speaker 2 (01:18:47):
Them, like you know, like fucking Yoda coming in on
the gunship and fucking episode Yeah, and then like a
bunch of other clips. I'm like, dude, I think my
dad's getting like real geared up for right in Door
season two, it's gonna see the command center took me.

Speaker 1 (01:19:03):
And then and in to the forward command Center.

Speaker 2 (01:19:08):
And that scene has the one time that Yoda did
not speak backwards.

Speaker 4 (01:19:15):
Focus your fire on the forward command ship.

Speaker 2 (01:19:22):
It's literally the one line, the one line.

Speaker 1 (01:19:26):
It just sounds like Kermit the Frog.

Speaker 2 (01:19:28):
Dude, can't expect the way you came.

Speaker 1 (01:19:34):
Larifying thought, dude, replacing all of Yoda's lines with Kermit
the Frog.

Speaker 4 (01:19:39):
Oh my god, careful you must be when sensing the future, Anakin.

Speaker 1 (01:19:50):
Dude, come on, give me one more. I know, I
know you got one more pain suffering.

Speaker 4 (01:19:56):
Damn these reasons you have are they if someone you
know or someone you've lost, carefully, carefully, carefully again, you
must be when sentencing the future.

Speaker 1 (01:20:13):
Uh, what's the fear? What's the fear leads to anger?

Speaker 4 (01:20:17):
Fear leads to anger, Anger leads to hate. Hate means
to suffering.

Speaker 1 (01:20:27):
Oh man, okay, I think we shall. There's a good
spot to wrap.

Speaker 2 (01:20:33):
Didn't realize we were getting here tonight.
