Speaker 2 (00:30):
Shining to Tony make your Jess Mystery podcast. That's how
we drop the dragon stock mat Dragons, Bad Dragons. That's

(00:52):
the wa carrying the back dragons.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Come a dragon man's.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Up, We'll get a dragons fans and welcome to the
Mad Dragons Podcast, brought to you by a complete warehouse Solutions.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
I just wanted to quickly go through our lower grades,
didn't get a chance to do it. On Sunday's show.

Speaker 5 (01:16):
I'll talk a little bit about Reserve Grade and Jersey Fleet,
but mostly I'll focus on the Junior Representative season, which
has come to a conclusion.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
Well, certainly the regular season.

Speaker 5 (01:27):
Has come to a conclusion and we've got finals to
come on and luckily we've got a few teams that
will be involved in finals.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
But starting with the Reserve.

Speaker 5 (01:36):
Grade, it was a gritty draw that we got against
the PARAMOUNTA Reels. We lost Harley's la to another hamstring
injury five minutes into this game. I don't know that
he had a run on the on the field. I
think he maybe did his hamstring running out of the tunnel.
I'm not sure, but it was described as hamstring tightness,

(01:58):
so maybe it's not a tear, was just a bit
of a hamstring awareness that he knew it was there
and decided he didn't want to want to take the
risk by going on any further for another seventy five minutes,
so he was ruled out for.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
The remainder of that game.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
We also lost Connum on Hyphen to a concussion fifteen
minutes into the game, and then Tommy Hysen heard this
one was really sad. It was actually a bit of
a crusher tackle, didn't seem to be too much in it,
but it was his first game after having two months
on the sideline with concussion symptoms and was ruled out

(02:35):
once again with the concussion in this.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Game that was on about the half an hour mark.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
This activated the eighteenth man, but the alieenth man was
Ben Rumbles, so we lost an edge forward, we lost
a middle forward, and we lost the dummy half and
the eighteenth man was a winger center fullback, not exactly
the person that was going to help us fill the role,
so that we had lost. So it was a brave effort,

(03:04):
and the Dragons actually fought back late in this game
to get a draw, so it was it was a
brave performance from them against the Neil's side that to
start the game had more NROL Top thirty players in
their side than we did, and we lost two of
our top thirty players in that opening half an hour,
so it was a much stronger Eels team than we

(03:27):
fielded and still managed to come away with a drawl.
With everything against us, I think that the boys can
take a lot of hard out of that, and you know,
I think Willie Tonga will be very happy with the
way that the Dragons performed. Jersey Flink, I haven't had
a chance to look at this game yet, but we
did lose twenty eight to sixteen. I saw Toby rumbles

(03:47):
length of the field try that this certainly looks.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
Like it was a real highlight moment for the for
the Dragons in that one.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
But going down twenty eight to sixteen hasn't been the
best to start for George Laura Dragons in that competition.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
But as I said, what I wanted to focus on
was the junior reps.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
The regular season for junior reps wrapping up coming to
a conclusion, and this is how our team's fared in
the least the Fiola Cup, the Under seventeens girls, the
Steelers finished in at night and the Dragons finished in tenth.
A very disappointing season for both sides obviously, but I

(04:27):
would say the Steelers in particular.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
I look at their.

Speaker 5 (04:31):
Side and I think there is enough talent in that
side to have actually given this this entire competition a shake,
but for whatever reason, they just did not put it
together as a unit all season. And yeah, I think
it's definitely a very disappointing season to see them finish
down in ninth position.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
Harold Matt's the under seventeens boys.

Speaker 5 (04:53):
Though the Steelers finish as the minor premiers, they'll get
the first week of finals off. If the final system
is as I expect, I think it's a top six,
so I think the top two teams get the first
week off and that should mean we play the winner
of the Newcastle Knights and the Central Coast Roosters in
the preliminary.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Final in a four nights.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
So yeah, the boys, they've had a great, great season
so far and then they're one game away from being
in a ground final, so.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Hopefully they can go on and bring home some silverware
for the club. In that the Harold matts the Dragons
in the same competition.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
They finished fifteenth of the seventeen teams in the comp
so certainly a poor season from the Saint George Dragons
in the Harold Matthews Cup. In the Tarta Gal Under
nine Teams Women's competition, the Steelers finish as the minor
premiers top of the table. They will get the first

(05:52):
week finals off and again I'm not one hundred percent
sure on how that the finals brackets work, but I
think they will take on the winner of the pen
of Panthers and Paramatta for a place in the grand final.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
Similar story all the way through. The Eloris Dealer is
very good.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
The Saint George Dragons quite not so good, a tenth
of thirteen sides in the Tasha Gal Cup and in
the Under nine Teams Men's competition, the Steels they finished
the regular season in fifth.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
That they will take on.

Speaker 5 (06:24):
The Roosters in and in an elimination final. Got me
done around that easy for you to say, elimination final.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
Next weekend up against the Roosters. If we win that
not an easy task if we manage to get the
victory out of the Roosters.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
We've got the unbeaten Eels waiting for us in the
preliminary final to try and get a spot in the
grand final. Again the Dragons they.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Finished fourteenth of sixteen clubs, so a good year, really
good year.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
For Ilwara and the South Coast because they're the Ilor
South Coast Dragons. They wrapped up the Andrew Johnson Laurie
Daily Cups last week, with the the Ilawa South Coast
Dragons getting the premiership in.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
The under eighteens competition.

Speaker 5 (07:09):
So overall and across the boys and men's teams at
least we finished as minor premiers in under sixteens, minor
premiers in under seventeens, the premiers in the under eighteens,
finalists in under nineteens. Well the under nineteens women's team
also minor premiers. So the Alura Steelers they're doing the

(07:30):
club route. The Allora South Coast Dragons as well last week,
so they're holding the club up. We've got a lot
of good juniors coming through those systems with final still
to come.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
So color Dragons fans.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
But where.

Speaker 6 (07:48):
That's tell tales, Agens and Junior Doni and the NV

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
