the panel asked the question which Dragon's team would turn

There were so many things to like about that performance,

but perhaps the most impressive thing is that we actually
weren't that good. It was another game where we completed
at just seventy two percent. There were great passages that
the ten minutes just before or just after half time
was phenomenal. We put on four tried and blew the
game apart. But what puts the biggest mile on my

face is that who were clunky at times. We made
a lot of errors. We have a lot of room
for improvement and still one easily. It's theirs to me
that when we get it all right, there's no one
that can lead us. We will get better throughout the
course of this season. A lot of heroes, maybe a

who has man has any sights. I don't think he

honest with myself, they didn't commit any major scenes against this.
In fact, I think, in fact, we were actually the
beneficiaries of at least two forward passes that went unseen

a Friday game in Wollongong at six pm. How the
hell are we supposed to get a decent crowd for
this game when only the Illwarra locals would be able

was actually really tough for the judges. I know everybody

was a pretty tough week for the bounders to come
up with who they thought was the best. There were
actually six different players, so we've got eleven judges. Stick
different players were given Men of the Match across the
eleven judges, so it was pretty well spread out. And

the soups that were given Men in the Match awarded
by someone don't actually feature in our top three so
there'll be a couple of people that will just not
be too happy with the democratic process here, I'm sure.
But the pedals three votes went to the Boom Rookie Sensation,

two votes to the Moneyman. Christian took a lot too,
and third in the voting was actually a tie between
the Valentine Holmes and Blind Half Carl Flanagan.

stands for in this jersey is Lance corporal and Lance
corporal stripes. I can't remember the Lance corporal that played
for the Dragons, but his name is on that jersey
and on the back of the jersey his squadron number
and also the other eight soldiers that were in his division.

They got caught by the Japanese and he was he
was beheaded by the Japanese.

So I love the jersey. It's fantastic.

It's a commemory jersey and z that it was the
soldier was a lance corporal and that's what the v
emulates in this v on the jersey.

it's the same as the collar. There's been a lot
of comments about the collar. The collar is the color
and style of collar when lance corporal walk late with

I've got to say, when when I first saw it
and when I first thought up on my third feed,
my first thought was, that's just our normal jersey. Our
club has done nothing, and I think that's probably that

seen other teams do these sorts of subtle jerseys where

the Roosters might have done one a couple of years
ago that that was it just looked like a rooster's jersey.
But you had to get up close to to see
the you know that there was words and lettering and
different things in in the jersey. You had to be
up close to serve. From a distance, it just looked
like a normal jersey. That might not have been the Roosters,
might have been somebody else. But yeah, again, they got

that's a comment there from Jesse is exactly what I've

the problem with Anzac Day and the Anzac round is
that's what people expect. They want to see. They want

To me, this jersey is exactly what Anzac Day should
be all about. It's not about you, it's not about

respect to people like Lance Corporal walk lay H. You know,

he suffer references the mission where he got taken prisoner,
was tortured, and ultimately died saving the life of one
of the eight members of his crew. There's reference to
his dragon's player number. He's rank out of the names

with seven of them paying the ultimate price. There's his
unit on the jersey as well, just on the on
the collar, and it's got the insignia on the back
of the collar, which is coincidentally the same unit that
I served with when I was in the arms. So
to me personally, this is a very special and Zac

Day jersey. I think it's an absolute winner, but I
can understand that not everybody is going to love it.
Allen men. Mark Poyne joins the board, replacing Martin Newman.
Some are saying that this is once again just jobs
for the boys. Do you agree with that sentiment or

do you think this is a good appointment.

Look, I've got to be honest, I do not agree
with that sentiment at all. Mark Coin is a Dragon's
legend for a start. He has business acumen, which is
what that I can say for a few of the
board members Peter Dowst included, don't know what his credentials are.

You must just be a good ask kister. No, I've
got no problems with him being on the board whatsoever.
In fact, I'm I actually wish he'd actually replaced Dowis
rather than replace Newman. I prefer Newman and going to
be there then.

I got in got into it with a few people
saying it was jobs for the boys. And so that's
just such a it's such a cowardly throwaway line, like what,
tell me, tell me in what way Coin is not

have you know that the right credentials to be a
to be a member of the board. You're absolutely does.
He absolutely does.

Anyway, we're gonna have a four hours show if we

part of the agenda Billy Raising the Bar Foundation. So
before we I ask you this question, we might just
have a bit of a listen to what Raising the
Bar Foundation is all about. They were raising money for
this at the game on Friday.

Chin, who are our fifty to fifty charity Raffle partners
for a Round six against the Titans. Mate, you want
to tell us a bit about the Raising the Bar Foundation.
How you guys started up?

Speaker 13 (22:10):
Yeah, sure, mate, So we started in twenty nineteen out
of his oil or your local restaurant up in Kira
Street here. We started initially as Amend's mental health group,
the Barstal Brothers, and we transformed into Raising the bar
Foundation that has a number of different initiatives now including
Barstal Brothers as well for men in the local community.
We also have another initiative called Healthy Hospitality where we

train hospitality workers in how to manage stress and manage
dealing in such a tough industry and we train venues
all throughout New South Wales in that program. And we
also have our Veterans initiative which includes Walk with Us
Kakoda where we take veterans and civilians over to Pup
New Guinea and walk the Kakoda track together in a
real tailored experience that's built around being a leadership program

for veterans in our community as well.

Speaker 12 (22:54):
And what is I guess the focus of the program.
What made you want to start up Raising the Barth Foundation.

Speaker 13 (23:00):
Look, we wanted to start because we noticed there's big
gaps in certain communities out there that we could really help.
First of all, being men age kind of thirty to
sixty is a high impact area for poor mental health
and so we wanted to be able to do something
to provide a means for connection, to fight against isolation,
to bring people together, to bring communities together. So that's
really where it started. And Lachlan, the founder of the

charity as well, is a veteran, so being involved in
those veteran affairs and being able to help, you know,
veterans of all ages be able to connect and be
part of you know, sub branches around the area as well,
it was really important. So yeah, just a sense of community.
It's really important for us to bring people back together
and try and get some of those in person connections happening.

Speaker 12 (23:40):
And how can people help the foundation help support it?

Speaker 6 (23:42):
Sure?

Speaker 13 (23:42):
Well, Look, we're always after looking for sponsors of course,
and volunteers. We cook weekly Bunnings, barbecues, we're out here
with the Dragon's volunteer and cell and raffle tickets, so
any kind of volunteers like that, and we're always looking
for corporate sponsorship and corporate people to get involved in
the in the local area as well.

Speaker 6 (24:02):
There we have it, Billy, I know, I know one
of our our panel members, Bennie O'Brian, he hates when
we talk about anything that's not footy related. But how
important is it for the club to be making connections
and raising awareness for the things like this within our community?
I think is great.

Speaker 9 (24:22):
You know, there's a lot of people out there that
struggling with mental health and stress and stuff, so whether
they're connected with Dragons and stuff.

Speaker 6 (24:30):
Is really good.

Speaker 11 (24:32):
You know.

Speaker 9 (24:33):
It's just it brings the community together and it's a
sense of you know, now I explained Draions have just
been on the up with this sort of stuff like
years like two, three, four years ago under Griffin, I
don't think we would have done this sort of stuff.
So it's good to say that we're getting out there

(24:54):
and helping our community out.

Speaker 6 (24:58):
Yeah, yeah, en always fantastic. It's just a little little
partnerships to this like this, you know, raising awareness of
these things that exist within our community. And if if
people laugh struggling, then they've got There's a lot of
different avenues, a lot of different pathways you can go down.
Bar stool Brothers to me, sounds like something I wouldn't

mind being involved in either, just you know, gone sitting
down on the bath door with you know, your dragon's
brother and having a.

Yeah, well I'm just talking about it for the dragons,
but I mean dragons area. So sitting now with your
dragon's brother and having a chat and you know, a
beer and you know, might might be just might just
be a little thing, have a quick chat and you
might say someone's life like it is that serious and uh,

you know that little bit of a bit of connection
in the community can can make all the difference. Big team. Yes,
extension for Christian Tool or two for one year. Obviously
everyone loves CT but were disappointed that it was only
a one year extension.

I would have liked to say it to give him
a two year extension of twenty twenty seven, end of
twenty twenty six now, but if he gaz up one
year at a time, if he gets another one of
the dragons, he'll get you'll get a two year contract.

Yeah. I would have liked to see two. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (26:31):
Yeah, I think that he's a guy you know, Fox
bought and now that he is statistically the best winger
in the entire competition.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
Yeah, I read that. Yeah, I was.

I was watching it. That's that's Fox were trying to
present this idea to Melvin Inger and melman Inger was
not buying it. At all. He's like, yeah, maybe based
on those statistics, but there's a lot of great wingers
in our competition. But still he's gone pretty pretty damn well.

All right, before the game started as men, Dylan Egan
aimed to start with Luciano Lei Lua reverting back to
the bench, will talk a bit more about Egan. You've
already spoken about Egan yourself, but is Luciano Lua a
bench forward for the rest of the season.

Speaker 8 (27:27):
Yes, well, based on that performance, I think he's got
to be. I think he's got to be. I think
he's more of a more of an impact back rower,
if there is such a thing than a than a startup.
When you saw the way that Dylan Egan was absolutely
killing it, and then you got do you able to

have someone like what or when he when he came on,
he had an immediate impact. Yes, I think he actually
laid on the pass for rad Well home. So when
he when he's quite his try so No, I would
dead say keep him as a as a bench player.

Yeah, well, Billy, is that something that you agree with,
because I know you you thought Luchila had an absolute warner.

Yeah, I had him as my man of the match,
so never may disagree with me, but you know, he
came and he got involved in the second an third try.

I don't know if he ran a decoy or he.

Past, but he came, like has Man said, he came
on immediate impact streat and I hadn't seen that from
him all seasons when he started. So you know, I
think if we can keep that system going for sure,
one hundred percent, I love it.

Yeah. Yeah, well I think he said going to be
on the bench for a little while after that performance
from from Dylane. Again he sort of locked down. That
guy defensively did everything that he was supposed to do,
was dangerous with his touches of the ball. So I
think that he had had a very good game.

Speaker 10 (29:14):
I think might for game Donny, sorry sorry you got
to talk to me anyway. Well think it might be
going game for game anyway, Like different games will play
start in the game anyway, so they'll be on and
off the bench all year.

Speaker 6 (29:26):
Yeah, I don't necessarily think that's fair. I think with
second rowers as they play the for eighty minutes. So
I think Luchill provides a good impact off the bench.
I can't. I can't think of a scenario where you
would change that. I get that for the middle forwards,
but yeah, certainly, you know, for Looch, I think for

now he's going to be he's going to be to
be that impact player off the bench. And if he
can keep having an impact like this game and I think, yeah,
all the better for it.

The first half hour was it was a bit of
a grind. But one thing that we spoke about on
the show last week that I noticed had improved, and
that was offloading. Toby Counton and Jack de Bellin with
four offloads each, three from Jay and Seward overall overall
seventeen offloads. We were playing some footy off the back

of that second phase play. Do you think the Flano
watched the show and implemented our strategy or great mind
to think alike?

For sure, positive, absolutely positive that it watched our show.
Is it's taken all that good?

But with offloads, Donnie, I'd like to see because we
had about ten to two offloads in the first first
half or something it was, and the two offloads came
from David for Fieda. But yeah, I'd like to see
gains and losses with our floats because a lot of
our floads go back and at least five meters and
floods go back and we make ten meters like it's

going to be a You can't have ten offloads and
lose fifty meters. So I think that's a bit of
a fake, a fake stat that one.

They don't think it would have faked staffed for us
on the weekend because Toby Kauf and the upload from

They played a great game this weekend, this fantastic game
this weekend. They delivered the ball to where it had
to be and we scored out wide set Slang scored
twos two points too, So they got the balls in
