(00:41):
make a big difference. So now please welcome the host
of the Magic of Chinese Medicine, doctor Kelly.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Hi everyone, lazy doctor Kelly. So today let's talk about
how Chinese medicine works. So in general we have acupuncture,
they have guassha, they have copying, and we have max sebastion.
(01:23):
You know, we have different kind of message to help
you about your health. It's a in general DNA matter,
it's acupuncture or herbs. They all treat the root. So
let's very essential about Chinese medicine. For example, people come
(01:45):
in for depression. In Chinese medicine, depression usually caused by liberty,
degnition and a different organ have different peak time for
example labor you're related with depression. Actually the peak hour
(02:09):
is one to three am. So that is why Chinese
medicine doctor always suggest pation. Go to sleep no later
Likene eleven. So if you go to sleep, say after
one am, which means your labor is not functioning at
(02:34):
peak hour, so your libor cannot really get detoxified, and
your liver chi will be like stagnant. In Chinese medicine,
when your liver che is stagnant, you will have like depression.
You don't have the motivation to do things. You just
(02:54):
want to stay inside, even maybe laying down on the
back or just flipping your phone, check the message stuff.
So to be healthy and not light heart. Actually, in
hondy Nagin, which is one of the ancient Chinese textbook,
(03:20):
it talk about to be healthy, there are only three
do you need to follow? One's called sey tongue, which
means you need to like sleep after the sun is
said like it's dark. Chinese medicine talk about ying and
(03:42):
young all the time. Ying time basically means it's dark,
it's quiet, it's relaxed, like like you really after the
sun set on the Young time is like it's bread,
it's active, it's moving. Let the urally after some russet. Right,
(04:06):
So follow the in young wisdom of the nature, you
can have a good sleep and you can have a
productive day to finish you know the matter. You're student,
or you're working or you know, whatever you do, you
can have effective day and have a good rest. So
(04:29):
let's one or the rule to be healthy. Go to
sleep at the in time, which means in general after
sunset right, and go to work active exercise in the
young time, you know when the sound lives. Okay, let's
one of the rules we should follow. But I know
(04:53):
it's hard, like in nowadays some people work at night
or they have to or sleep in the daytime, madgie.
In general, actually it's not very healthy, I would say.
But you know, if your life just set up in
left when you cannot change, I mean, like try your
(05:14):
best to have a daytime job instead of work at night. Okay.
The other thing to be healthy is you have to
eat healthy. They call in hounding. You know. The Asian
Chinese medicine textbook is said Yin shi yo jeh so yin.
(05:36):
She basically means you know, you eat, you drink like
whatever we are eating. For the nutrients, you have to
have a limitation. You cannot just eat whatever you want
or eat the amount is like you're over full. You
eat too much. That is not that's not good either,
(05:58):
not healthy, So to eat healthy. Like first thing, don't
eat too much Okay, nowadays it's very easy to overrate everyone,
including myself. Even sometimes there's so much food on the
table you can't like pick up Liz, pick up lad
(06:19):
when you ended up have a full stomach, which is
pretty hard for our body to digest. The other thing
about food is make sure you eat healthy food by
for example, don't eat too much processed food. Don't eat
too much you know, we can have a little of flavor,
(06:40):
but not like too spicy stuff, Okay, too much you know, seasoning,
too salty or too greasy. That's another thing about food.
About the drink, there is one common problem is uh,
it looks like everyone kind of like like the cold drink.
(07:04):
We like to add ice in the water or in
the juice like or whatever we are drinking. We like
to put some as in which you may feel, oh,
it's fresh. When I drink ice, cold drink is very fresh,
I feel like very nice. But actually it's not only
(07:26):
in Chinese medicine, even in mass medicine. When you talk
about the enzam right in them didest in our food,
so all the in them has the optimum temperature to
didst the food we are eating. If the temperature goes
below the optimal temperature, simply our food not gonna be
(07:49):
digested that well. So when you drink the ice cold water,
ice cold drink, think about it just lowered down in
them temperature. So the big steak you are eating cannot
be digestic. So what it does, like the steak gonna
just stay in your stomach after all. You know, if
(08:11):
we generate some heat, you may have I said, reflex,
you may have stomach pain. Some kids may even have favor.
That's very calm. Actually for young kids have favor due
to food stagnation. So in that way, we don't really like,
(08:35):
you know, people to drink as cold water or as
could drink or eat like a lot of asce cream.
So let's invest way to explain why in Chinese medicine way,
like just in general, we don't really like a lot
of cold stuff. So because when the cold get into
(08:58):
your body, hold pain to k jail means slow down
everything by just think about ice by just that's a
solid by think about the water water is flowing by
very active, but eyes just cannot move. Just a different
form of same matter, like the same thing, but one
(09:23):
can move along whe just sit there still because cold,
so when the coldness get into our body, we may
have pain. Let's actually found the reason some people get
pain sota metrics on their hands or on their shoulders
or on their neck in the summer. Summer is coming.
(09:45):
Like everybody loves the warm weather, including myself. But one
thing about summer is because people don't like to be hot,
lay they will turn the acy gonna just blow on you,
especially when your faith behind an asy. The cold is
(10:07):
just blow on your neck, blow on your shoulder, you
know in the summer, because we really don't really wear
a lot of clothes, cover our neck, cover out shoulder, right,
so in light way, the cold is say, just the
cold wind blow on you, get into your body. Let's
one of the wading people get pain on their neck,
(10:30):
on their shoulder. But of course just sit in front
of a computer whole day. Let it another reason why
people can have pain. Because you see your blood just
stagnant and done the move. Okay, So that's another rule
to be healthy by eat something properly, not too much,
(10:55):
and also something if not healthy, try to avoid it.
I mean it's hard to totally avoid it, but trial best. Okay, Uh,
that's it about food. The second rule to be healthy
is so when you, for example, exercise working out, you
(11:18):
also should shouldn't like overdo it by some people like
like to get muscle. They like they pick up the
dumb bell. It's too heavy, lain lemen up have a
like injury or tear the muscle or even like hurt
their joints. So that's another thing. When you work, I
(11:40):
mean workout or exercise, don't do it too much of course,
this including like even when me literally work you know
for a job. Like if you feel like just too
much going on, you feel like overwhelming, so laying you
need to slow down a little bit, just stay maybe
(12:00):
think about a little bit, come down to clear your mind.
You can think about even more efficiently. You can get
like even better ideas come up instead of just bombombombo
working working working. Okay. So three rules too, uh to
(12:21):
be healthy? Why about sleeping time, about food, about exercise,
you know, including working. Okay, let's three rules we should
follow so Chinese med saying we talk about at the
beginning about acupuncture. So acupuncture we always treat the route
(12:46):
right like I talk about the depression. Nowadays a lot
of people have depression, especially young kids. Why the young
kids have depression? Like teenager? Like college people right or
even in like twenty something, just finish college, start to work.
(13:06):
Why a group of young people have depression? Why are
they're supposed to have like the most energy because they
are young? You know, you just follow energy for if
you just talk about the age. But why the group
of young people have depression? While main reason actually is
(13:27):
because they don't really go to sleep before eleven most
of them actually go to sleep. Why or even two?
So lets can really make the liberty stagnant. So when
your liberty is stagnant, you will have depression, you will
have anxiety. So it's opposite. You want to kind of
(13:51):
like get more things to be done, right, that's why
you don't want to go to sleep at night. But
the result is when you get depressured, you couldn't do anything,
like nothing, you even you want to finish nothing, you
want to accomplish. We have depressure. Like people say, they
just don't even want to get out of the door,
(14:13):
so they don't want to go to school, they don't
want to go to work. So then why why you
want to spend the time at night to do something.
Instead go to sleep, which you can make yourself more healthier.
In that way, you can get everything done more if efficiently. Right.
(14:37):
So I know it's easy, said like it's something easy,
but it's very hard because a lot of people they
already get headay to sleep late. So but now I
explain to you about why. So I hope you can
understand it and try to go to sleep a little
(14:59):
bit early. Okay. Of course there are some people say
I just don't I don't need it our sleep. So
in that way, kin go to sleep a little bit late.
I would say, you can go to sleep early, but
you can get up early if you don't fail you
(15:21):
need it our sleep. Like some people just say, okay,
six already fine to me, Lane, you can get up early.
So normally, for example, I go to sleep before ten,
sometimes even like nine, but I get up like seven
or six, So I fool. I feel I have the
(15:43):
energy to go for the whole day. I don't need
the coffee, I don't even need tea anything. So if
you have enough energy, you don't have to have it
our sleep. Okay, so get up early, it's not a problem.
Like five or even you know, film is pretty early.
But if you feel fallim, I can get up. I
(16:04):
can do things without any problem, get out by the fact.
That's fine. You can you know, do some stretch, do
some yoga, you know, getting your body, you know, start
to move. That's totally fine. But I wouldn't see as
anybody go to sleep late. Okay, the reading I explained,
(16:26):
labor time is one to three am, right, so god bladder,
on the other hand, god bledger and labor. In Chinese medicine,
it's a ying young pair like god bladder is more young,
labor is more yan, so god bladders pick time. It's
(16:47):
twelve to one. So that's why I really see that
patients go to sleep before eleven. So you you know,
you do some prepare to go to sleep at twelve.
If you already can find sleep, that's very good for
your god bladder, right, So in light way you will
(17:10):
have a healthy life. So let's let's the Chinese medicine.
You know, how we treat the root, like about depression,
even about the pain, like I explain a little bit
about may you have have pain wound? The basing is
(17:34):
the coldness, maund the vision is the stagnation, right she
and all blood stagnation right, so we call it the
blood stacis like if you happen to have some you know,
injury blair, are some blood just stacey or just a
stagnant over there couldn't move, then you will have pain.
(17:57):
So stagnation and cold nas of color can be some
you know, acc accident or something so lame. You know,
you will have some pain. So but the Chinese meazin
can treat it and it's very effective. I have I
(18:19):
have several patients who who are coming for all canoes
within the pane on, some from working out, some from
like just sit in front of a desk, and some
from basically just cold as a blow on their neck.
(18:41):
Because in the summer, like all the office basically everywhere
to turn on the ace is so big you feel
like winter you So I would say that as especially girls, right,
you know, sometimes we very glass shoulder. You know, if
you can't have a scarf courage in lightly dyna matters
(19:04):
at work in the office, you know, on the train,
subway bus, so you have something to cover. So the
cold is in not just blow on you and get
into your body. Pain is not fine like some people
feel so painfully couldn't even fall insleep. Actually, ocupuncture is
(19:27):
very powerful to treat the pain. I will tell you
my own story. Actually, last night I feel I have
a tooth pain. It is so big I couldn't even
fall asleep. So, you know, it's in the middle of
the net. What can you do, Like I don't want
to take a pain killer, I kind of go to the
(19:50):
dentistes either, like in the middle of the net. So,
but it bothered me so much I couldn't even fall
in sleep, like how pain fight is. So I got up,
I took a needle. So I just needled myself on
the gum where I feel the pain. At first, I'm
(20:10):
a little bit afraid because you know it's gone, but
it's kind of sensitive, may feel the pain, so I
don't want to needle it too deep. Uh. But on
the third face actually didn't really work because the needle
didn't really rich where you know the swollen part is.
(20:31):
So then I said I should go, you know, a
little bit deeper, like the needle touch like a swollen
point where you know it's in flame. So I put
it a little bit deeper. That's what happened. The pain
was gone, so I was able to fall asleep. I
(20:51):
mean it's uh, it's pretty rare actually on Chinese medicine.
I mean acupunctures treat toothpain. I mean it's not rare
to treat the tooth pain. But it's not too common
to put the needle on the gum because it's very hard,
like it's in the mouth. It's very sensitive. Because myself
(21:16):
it's much easier, so I can feel where the pain
I can put the needle. But think about it, if
a patient, it's gonna be a little bit hard. That's
why I said. Usually, actually we don't really treat patients,
you know, to put the needle on the gum. But
(21:37):
of course we do have accupuncture pond to treat the
tooth pain because in Chinese medicine, tooth pain actually related
with stomach fair So in Chinese medicine we think a
man of stomach have like too much heat going on,
then you may have toothpain. So actually it's very interesting.
(22:04):
So on on our face, there are several pawns. Uh,
it's the on the stomach channel, but it's on the
face for example, just like right beside the corner of
the moss. There's the pound called stomach file right on
the going on the side, a little bit of stomach file,
(22:26):
then on the muscle, the master muscle, a stomach six.
So it's very helpful to treat toothspin. Actually well, of course,
I said, because it's myself, so I can put a
needle just right on the gum. But even the ponds
just on the face, it's very helpful to treat the toothspin.
(22:51):
We also have other ponds like our balley, like a
belly like we can also can use to treat the
stomach face to clear some heat of the stomach to
relieve the toothpain. So in Chinese medicine, it's very interesting.
We can treat a lot of problem. And some people
(23:14):
may say, like it's Chinese medicine, acupuncture can have a
sad effect in general. I would say sometimes if the
needle got into a capulary, like you can't have a
little bit of bleeding lane. You may have a little blues.
(23:35):
That's is a sad effect. I would say, it may happen,
but it will go away, you know. Sometimes I even
treat myself for like facial re doumination, or just like
a general health you know, everyone, like everyone after past
eight thirty, you know, our muscle tone started to decrease.
(23:59):
We start to have some moving calls. Let's just nature.
I mean, like everyone go to you know, a little
bit older every year. So after age thirty, people kind
of like started to slow down. Everything going to kind
of like decline, including our organ So when you have
(24:21):
like kidney deficiency, you may have you know, several problem.
For example, like before you don't even need to go
to go to like bustroom at night, but now you
feel like, oh, I need to get up your the
basroom like during the night. Let's rund with the sad
(24:44):
or kidney deficiency. Let's nag right. And of course it's
not everybody experienced the symptom at just everyone at a
certain age. You know, some people may feel started or
something wrong, like on age thirty forty, some people may
(25:05):
feel like fifty. So everyone in the different. But in general,
in Chinese medicine, we kind of like have the cycle
for you know, for different gender. For guys, it's like
every eighty years, it's a cycle by like eight sixteen. Whye.
(25:25):
So that's why when when the guys hid age fifty six,
let me start to have some problem man's problem like
proceed or even some ed you know, like go to
a bathroom often at night. You know, some people may
even have a lower back pain. Actually, very interesting about
(25:50):
Chinese medicine is we related lower back pain or knee
pain with kidney. So some people start like, actually it's
not even done matris guys or woman like some people
for example for girls, why some people they fail the
(26:13):
crime when they have period. Some people may fail lull
back pain may they have the period, or some people
you may have the knee. Pay man, they help here,
so that's why they they explain to them. The reason
why you feel the lull back pain during the period
(26:35):
or even before the payiod, it's because your kidney is
a little bit deficient. So when you have kidney deficion,
say you will have like luwer back pain, knee pain
because kidney in charge of the bone, you know, including
the tooth. Actually, so some people fail the tooth like
(26:58):
loose start to lose at certain age. That is another
sign of kidney deficiency. Okay, So like for the girls
I treated before, so she because her kideney is division,
so that's why she experienced a low back pain during
(27:18):
the period a knee pain, and her period also the
first time came up a little bit late by in
general be alonge the like thirteen, but her period, the
first period came up like around age sixteen. Let's is
another sign of kidney deficiency. Okay, So I treated her.
(27:42):
I tonify her kidney. Of course she had other problem
like liberty stagnian blood statis. I tortified the blood. So
she said, her pain, her low back pain clamp really decreased,
and her period like more regular, and you know the
(28:07):
color is more brighter than before. So she's really happy.
So Chinese megazine acupuncture you know, also of course herbs
also cutting also it's very powerful. We can really help you.
Some people like coming for facial dedumination because they said,
(28:31):
you know, I don't want to go to the plastic surgery,
like it's painful, it's expensive. And also sometimes after you
do the plastic surgery, after a certain time you have
to go back to redo it. Right, so they don't
want to do it. So Langley coming say, hiy doctor Kelly,
can you help me? So make myself look you know
(28:53):
a little bit younger, like my face a little bit
more glowing. So I look better instead of I go
to do plastic circle. So I said, sure, you know
chining the man saying, how we treat facial donation. One
thing I explain to them. I said, it's like people.
(29:14):
You know, I use a metaphor of bloom when like
young people like the brooom full of air. Right, it's
a beautiful, but after you get to a certain age,
it's kind of like the air like leaking from the bloom.
That's why we start to have a wrinkle, we start
to have like sagging, right. So accupuncture, you know of
(29:40):
cold herbs also can do it. So what they do
is we kind of like tonifict the blood. We kind
of like put back the air into the bloom. So
the blowing fold again, it's a build full, so the
the rink coats kind of like you know, decrease a
little bit, and the second kind of like go back
(30:02):
a little bit, so your face looks younger. An adventure
and I have I have eighteen years old lady. She
started to do acupuncture with me, uh maybe about months ago.
She she's a very nice lady and she's beautiful, but
(30:24):
you know she's eighty by so her her face always
the link cold and you know, so I treated her
and I think after the second time, uh she she said,
doctor Kelly, my eyes went up. You know, her eyes
(30:48):
a little bit like groping. But she she's very heavy,
she did. My eyes went up. Yeah, and she said,
can I hug you? I said, yeah, of course, yeah.
So she hardens me. She's very happy. So even eighteen
years old, I mean like, so it doesn't matter or
(31:09):
how old you are, it is never going to be too late.
So you can come in. You know, I can help you.
I'm not saying I can turn eighteen years old to eighteen,
but you will. You will be like, look batter and
more healthier. The reason why you will look better and
(31:31):
healthier because we treat the root. Why we tornify your kidney,
make your kidney stronger. We tornify your splain your explain, bettress.
You can digest food better, you can use the food better.
You know a lot of people are if they're splaining division,
even they eat very well, but they cannot really yield
(31:53):
like nutrients they're taking in, so their body cannot take
in the nutriants. And you on their body, and especially
if you overeat it's a little bit too much and
the food can just like start in your body. If
(32:13):
the food start in your body, they can you know,
turn into actually kind of like garbage, you know kind
of thing. Lane, you may have a big belly which
you don't like like actually, lets another another thing. Chinese
(32:33):
messay can treat it viata loss. Okay, So China messay
is pretty powerful. Uh, we can we can do officially
doing shame. We can do wat loss. We can have
your diadestchain getting stronger, make your sleep better, you know,
(32:56):
make your bangle of it like for sure, like let's
not at all, and make you more balanced. So Chinese
the medicine basically it does your balance. We don't have
the scary term like a Western medicine, but we just say,
oh you're off balance, right, you may only bit of
(33:17):
young division, We give you more young. You're ying division,
We give you more ying, so you're yeing young in
the balance. They kind of can anchor each other lane,
you will be perfect, right. So Chinese the medicine is
beautiful and it's powerful, and you can't get better pretty quick.
(33:39):
So it's it's not like oh it's gonna take a
like long long time or something. Yeah, some chronic problem
may take a while, but some problem can can be
very effective. Maybe more treatment and you'll already feel better.
Actually that happened to a lot of patients. They coming
(34:01):
in once there already feel better like valuely like they
feel they are more coming so more balanced, have more energy.
So in lightly Chinese megazine can really help you. You
will you will like benefit from it. Don't matter who
(34:25):
you are, what kind of problem you have. So so
starting to love Chinese medicine if you have the fall
in love with and so accupuncture is not hurt that
much as you imagine. Okay. A lot of people who
(34:46):
haven't experienced acupuncture would think it's very hurt. For it's not. Okay,
I have a patient never got the acupunctry before lacking
in I put the needle, they said, oh I didn't
really you led, So occupuncature is not hurt. You may
feel a little bit of pinch on thirteen pounds, but
(35:08):
in general it's totally tolerant, okay. And the benefit compare
with the needle is really worth it, okay, And you
really relax, you feel more balanced, So why not why
why not coming in to get the treatment to have
(35:30):
the you know the most relaxed time. Most of my
pigeons really love my office because the value coming and
value relax They feel very comfortable. So they told me
after accupuncture late they have the deepest sleep ever. So
(35:52):
in that way, you may love it, so try it.
So coming in and tried, you may know how good
it is. And it doesn't if you have an insurance.
You know your insurance the courage. Even you don't have insurance,
it's not that expensive at all, so why not give
(36:14):
it to try? Right? Actually, a lot of my patience
they come to me because they went to all the
Wesson doctor and they found out that they couldn't get help.
Then they come to me, say, oh, because this isn't
that it doesn't work, can try acupuncture. Then they found
(36:34):
out the chupund can really help them. Then they say, oh,
why do not I come to you earlier so they'll
never be too late. Right, So the sooner you start
to get the treatment on the earlier, your beneficial from it.
So you know, you can contact me through email or
(37:02):
you can call me. You know, you know, my my
office is very communient. It's on the East City and
the last avenue, you know, so it's it's very easy
to get access the train station just downstairs. You know,
the cost is really fair, to be honest, really fair,
(37:25):
and in this error it's not expensive at all. You
can have a very good experience about acupuncture, you know earths. Okay,
so sorry, so ask a question, let's see Okay, okay,
(37:51):
So let's about today's show. And if you have any
questions you can contact me or call me at three
semi eight five eight sixty five. Okay, thank you, I
wish you how a good day. I see you next time.
