(00:25):
dot com. We have a twenty four hour message text
line you can reach us at nine three six four
six three two four zero five. With all that being established,
let us jump right in two today's episode. Like to
thank the Preiview Athletic Club for being a underwriter for

(00:49):
our coverage of Preview athletics throughout the course of the
twenty twenty five twenty six campaign. Of course, we'll be
coming to you live this weekend from the State Fair
Classic in Dallas, Texas between the Grammar State Tigers and
the Prairie View A and M University Panthers. Kickoff will
start at six pm Central time, and you can join

(01:12):
us on our YouTube channel at open Mic Broadcast Network. Well,
the stage is set between the gram and State Tigers
and the Prairie View A and m University Panthers. The
Panthers will be the home team for the twenty twenty
five edition of the State Fair Classic. Both of these

(01:35):
teams coming off of wins over Southron opponents. Bramlin defeated
East Texas and of course Prairieview defeated Northwestern State. Now
coach Mickey Joseph for the Grammar State Tigers has been
somewhat on what one would call the hot seat, and

(01:56):
coach Jackson not necessarily on the hots but he has
had to kind of double down just a little bit
on some of the bravado that was being rolled off
in the beginning of you know, the season or the
preseason deal. Things have torn down a little bit with

(02:18):
both teams coming off as strong wins and happening this
is a statement game for both programs. Of course, prairie
View coming in two and two, Rambling coming in at
three and one. But if the truth be told, Gramblin
has really not faced any let's say, struggling competition other

(02:44):
than that of Ohio State, and of course we know
the outcome of that. Meanwhile, Prairieview has had a stiffer
road of travel, somewhat of a shakra still to me
depends on who you ask. Lost the unit Russia, Texas, Rio,
Grand Valley, and somewhat of a struggle against Northwestern State.

(03:08):
It did fall short against Rice, but Prairieview has had
I guess more of a trial test and error leading
to this point. If I were to do a measuring
stick right now, I would give quarterbacking advantage to Gramley State.
I would give the running back advantage to Prairieview, while

(03:30):
receivers I would give the advantage to Gramley State. And defensively,
I'm going to give a slight edge to prairie View.
I'm projecting that Prairieview should win this game, but we
do know anything can happen on any given Saturday now,

(03:54):
something that has always been a concern for me, and
I know people say it's not just prairie View all over,
but I can focus and will focus on that that
is right in my grasp, if you would. And that's
addressing the home attendance. It was reported this past weekend

(04:18):
that Northwestern State perion of your game drew forty four hundred,
forty five hundred people. I do not agree with those numbers.
I think those numbers are way off but you know
that's neither here nor there, which gives one the measuring
stick or or how are you using your measuring stick?

(04:39):
Or you're counting tickets sold, or you counting actual people
that came in and maybe left. But I know there
was no way that there were forty five hundred people
at that game. And if that were the case, if
there were forty five hundred people at the game, you're
steal off by about eleven thousand people of the stadium's capacity,

(05:00):
which is a strain and a difficult task for me
to comprehend on why is this? And there are a
bunch of theories and this, that and the other, and
I've come to some minor conclusions and understanding that it
may not make any sense to anyone, but it does

(05:23):
make somewhat logical sense to me. And that's the current
housing situation that the campus has provided with the apartments.
They did away with the dons of course many years ago,
and with the new apartment structures, it has strategically moved
your core client, which is the student, away from the

(05:46):
action of athletics. The Phase one apartments are the nearest
ones toward the athletic complex, ie the football Stadium, the
Baby Doon Softball soccer Complex, and the baseball complex. Other
than that, it is such a journey, whether it's walking

(06:08):
or even a hassle parking to get to those games,
which is part of what I'm seeing the problem or
the challenge, let's just call it a challenge of what
it could be. Now, there is an remedy that I
think would work, and it's old school, so I would

(06:29):
call it relic. But you have to work with what's now.
Instead of trying to reach out so deep into Houston
and even far as the community limits of fur review
right now, how about an internal campaign drive low risk.
Some investment will be spent just trying to get a

(06:52):
simple old school flyer into the hands of the students
on campus, IE placing them at their apartments, IE having
foot patrol teams hanging out at the MSc, to get
the attention and remind folks because I've never heard so

(07:12):
many people say, oh, I didn't realize it was a
home game. I didn't realize that. Whatever the reason is
do this. What's happened so far is that everything has
been so reliable on social media, or we posted it there,
we put it on the website, and that's great, but
you got to realize that you have anywhere between what

(07:36):
eight nine thousand individuals who are in their own world,
whether it's focusing on class, personal life, trying to make
sure their job and revenues, or rite for their continued education.
You have to put a little physical, tangible thing in
their hands. And unfortunately, it's like the fan base has

(08:00):
become CMEs in comparison to the church, Christmas, Mother's Day
and Easter attendance for large events, where what we've come
is Labor Day, Classic, stay Fair Classic and Homecoming. So
those are the three main events that there's not much

(08:22):
promotional needs. But when you have to remind the folks
and with a grassroot approach, I think it could help.
It's going to take a little commitment and take a
little capital spent. It's going to cost you more than
a social media tweet or post, and try not get influences.
I think it's just putting something in the hand. It

(08:43):
doesn't have to be anything overcomplicated, but a simple flyer
those gout the party flyers that used to give out.
If they still give it out, I don't know, that's
way past my heyday. But something of that simple will
have another false hope. Is what I'm saying. This weekend

(09:03):
at State Fair Class, you have over fifty thousand people
to show up to the game, and then you say,
hey man, Prairieview does good. They show up and they
show out. My question is this, and I would love
for you to respond back to this on the message
line or the text line at nine thirty six four
six three two four zero. Do you believe that Gramblin

(09:29):
and Prairie Review would have the attender's success that has
had if these games were home and home on the
campuses versus being at the State Fair Classic. Something has
to be addressed. And yes, the administrator, the team led

(09:51):
by Antie golf Ad they've hired out Tamar the ticket
selling people, and this, that and the other, and ticket
sales are essential. But the energy people don't understand and
realize that the students who've already been charged for the tickets,
you're not showing up to these games, and you won't

(10:13):
show up to a game that's on campus, but you
will spend forty bucks fifty bucks to go to Houston
to go to a club, and you're gonna pay for
that cover charge when you've already been charged and won't
come to the game. I'm scratching my head trying to
figure out find out a way of how this reconnect
can get things on board, because, if the truth be told,

(10:36):
a Purview football program has not been as dismal as
it was in times past, and it's worthy of good
strong fans support, it's worthy of synergy at the game,
it's worthy of involvement by the student body, and really
would like to see a greater outcome. I would love

(11:01):
to hear your take on this particular topic once again.
The twenty four hour message text line is nine three
six six three two four zero five. Meanwhile, we got
a game that is going to be electric from the
State Fair. Classic told you Mickey Joseph, if we alluded

(11:21):
to earlier, Seed is warming up? Coach Jack said, not
as much. But the pride in the reputation is on,
as they say, on trial right now and it's going
to be a great matchup. And can't wait to see
how things are going. Want to remind you guys that

(11:41):
we have been in the middle of our listening partnership
drive all month of September. We ask those who cans
is at the website at OBN radio dot com and
click on the donation button. We're asking, if you are
in position, if you would consider a twenty dollars annual.
That's all we're asking. It helps us cover the expenses

(12:05):
of getting to the games, producing these games, and doing
what we can while we can for quality style production.
You can also support by way of cash app at
dollar Sign. OBN Radio kickoff again will be at six
pm Central Time from the State Fair Classic in Dallas, Texas.

(12:29):
I am getting ready to exit stage left for today.
We do appreciate you so much. We'll be hearing from
Coach Northern. We heard from Coach Van Petaway already this week.
We'll also be hearing from Being Jack and of course
yours Cheuley with another episode of Yeah I Said It.

(12:50):
I am the radio guy, Doctor Mike Prince. You guys
be blessed and we'll see you on the other side.
