Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hello, and welcome back to another episode of the Open
Mic Broadcast Network and The Mike Princh Show. It is
our mission to try to bring you some news you
could use today. There's no exception to the rooms I
am so fortunate to have on the other line, way
in the depths of Florida on this Thanksgiving holiday season.

(00:23):
That's notother did mister Melvin Beale?

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Sir? How are you doing today? I'm well, how is
everything going out in Texas?

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Well, everything is looking pretty good right now, said, I
don't have to tell you. I'm about just twenty twenty
five football campaign on how the Panther last time we
got together? I think, sir, I think that my panthers
have given you rattlers are thrashing.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
You know. I'm trying to remember. It's been a while.
Let me help you. Let me help you.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
It was list year and it was my first trip
to our praiview and we lost that game out in preview.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, well, you guys weren't very hospitable.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
We thought that we would do what we had done
in twenty three. I believe you might have remembered a
spanking that occurred here in Tallahassee Florida, and so we
felt like we could go back out there and bring
another victory home.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
And I guess you guys weren't really nice host No.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
You know, and I hate to say it, but I
wouldn't mean it if I said I was sorry.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
You know, but you have what you have.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
But a phenomenal year for my pants, of course, and
a turbulent year for ratler Nation.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
And the truth be told, man, it's been somewhat turbulent.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Past two or three seasons now, which is one of
the reasons why I reached out to you. You got
an important game coming up this weekend. I say important,
but knowing how everything is that there's absolutely nothing to
play this game. There's no type of traditional tides to it.
You'll be taking on the Mississippi Valley, no knock on

(02:06):
Valley Northam. I mean, it's it's like it's a lackluster event.
What's the pulse of rattler Nation right now as they
go to this game?

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Well, you know, the pulse of rattler Nation right now
is one of the I would say that everybody is tense,
if that's okay to say. Florida and m lost the
Florida Classic last Saturday.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
To Bethune coming thirty eight to thirty four.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Here's the deal, doted Florida NM leading the game with
twenty two seconds left on the clock. It's fourth down
eight yards to gone. Coming in last play basically wide
open receiver and ends on Florida INN and lose the
game thirty eight to thirty four. Rat Leer's go from

(02:51):
five and go to five and six on you. That's
the tension here in Tallahish say it's gonna up and
down year as you might imagine. Some blowout losses at
Brad and that has really got the Ratler nation in.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Flux and Doc.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
You know, these things are beyond the athletic feels. Sometime
at Florida and M, there's been a lot happening. Florida
and M named a new president on August I, Marvara Jenson.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
A lot of controversy behind the hire. But with that
you have an ad.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Angela Sucks that was placed on paid leave after some
happenings here in Tallahassee. Florida INM announced it's an interim
athletic director about.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
A month ago. Mike Smith.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
It's his fifth time as to interim. Last week Florida
and M names a new athletic director, John Davis, who
will start on the fifth. I say all of that
to say this, a lot going on off the football
field sometimes impacts what's going on on the field.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Okay, Now with that being said, knowing the turbulence, the inconsistencies,
if you allowed me to put in that as far
as leadership goes, what does that look like for the
future of coach Cozy right now? He came in highly pouted,
coming in filling the shoes with Willie Simmons, a lot,

(04:30):
you know, to feel off that hadn't quite got the
stability that Rattler Nation is accustomed to have.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
The natives grown impatient.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Absolutely, the natives were impatient last year. The wills started
turning for Florida and M. With the Jackson State game
on last year, Florida and was leading that game going
into the fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Lost that game. It spiraled. We came out to Texas,
lost to Prairie. It spiral.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
If you remember, Florida and M had the second longest
home winning street in the nation going into the game
against Mississippi Valley last year. Mississippi Valley came into Bragg
Stadium and won the football game. So you're six year

(05:23):
street at Bragg Stadium. You lose to Mississippi Valley in Tallahassee.
That started something different. Florida and Them finished out the
year against Alabama and M with a win, but it
set the tone for this year. First game Howard, Florida

(05:44):
and M loses that game in Miami at the Orange
Blossom Classic in to nine. Next week Florida Atlantic, that's
the d one. You expect to have some tough competition here.
Florida and M loses that game and it starts spiraling.
And this year has been tough. Three blowout losses in Bragg,

(06:06):
first in North North Carolina, Central Jackson State, and it
was just tough here in Tallahassee. And coach Cosey is
in the middle of this. Now keep in mind, let's
put him into proper perspective.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
He got hired a little bit late.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
After Willie Simmons departed in January of twenty twenty four.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
F Lording and him has also.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Had about five athletic directors since he's been there, so
that creates a little bit of a problem. We talked
about the off feel impact in the on field. The
Natives are now restless after this Bethune Cutment loss, and
I would say that he would probably get an opportunity
to come back next year unless he loses the Mississippi Valley.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
This weekend in Itavena. Okay, now, do you really foresee
that being a reality? Knowing how things can be very
contentious in Rattler Nation, Let's be honest, you all are
somewhat in that cowboy era as far as sand Base.
You know the expectations, the tradition, the pride, and it's

(07:20):
really unprecedented at least as far as Aqua. Remember, as
long as I've been calling myself paying attention to this stuff,
the type of year that you and Southern University have
had collectively.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Man, this is this is crazy.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
It is crazy, and I'm glad you brought up Southern.
I think that they just announced that they're probably going
to be bringing on Marshall Fought.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Now.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
I don't think it's official yet. Yeah, I think they
made it up. It was to me it was a
bit premature. I thought they would have waited to the
completion of by your classic.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
But it's in all the papers now. Yeah, I think
so it is official. Okay, yes, sir, yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
I was reading something about it, and I'm like you,
normally these things you wait right until after they buy
you classic.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
I agree with you. So Southern has.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Gone through some things and then what is there going
to be the third coach for them in like the
last two years?

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Is it? Yeah? Actually?

Speaker 3 (08:15):
Yeah, the third quo, the fourth third, fourth course, right,
he would be the fourth, right, So the turbulence is there,
and so yes, this Rattlers season has unfolded. I wouldn't
say it was expected. We were picked to finish number
two in the Swack East, Okay, and we pretty much

(08:38):
held through to form.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
But it has been a tough roller coaster here.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
Cozy has had to replace this offensive coordinator coming into
this year, defensive coordinator coming into this year, wide receiver coach.
There's been turnover among the coaching staff as well as
that the administration. So I understand some of the challenges
that the team is faced, but I'll tell you.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
It's really rocky here in Tallahassee. Wow.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Well, you sometimes you know you have these seasons, there's
a time and season for everything, and you have to
remember that's why you have to be a gracious winner
as well as a gracious loser, sir, and you have
to be a little less to take it and a
audish at the same time. And with all that, Mississippi
Valley will be hosting the family Ratless and it is

(09:35):
our endeavor here at the open mic, we'll be simulcasting
a game for your listening pleasure for those around. Yes, sir,
you know we try to do our parts. So we're
like Avis. You know, we're number two. So we just
have to keep working hard, right, just keep trying to
get you. We can while we can. But with all
that being said, Uh, this business, as you know of

(09:56):
brother Melvick, can be unforgiving. Sometime the decisions are made, Uh,
you have to adjust. And I've developed a q TIP
theory many many years ago, and I think I mean
I shared that q tip un with you about. For
those who are wonder what I'm talking about. Q tip
is called Uh, you know, you don't take anything personal.

(10:16):
It's filled qt ip. Quit taking it personal. That's why
you adjust and you move forward. There was an administrative
change with you in the play by play call for football,
but of recent I'm understanding that, uh, you got the
call to be in attendance on that hardwood man bring
us up the speed on that.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Well.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
As you mentioned, you know, this business dot is about
politics and relations. Sometimes it's not about your talent. And
certainly there was a change after the game too against
Florida Atlantic and uh so I moved away. But you know,
God is amazing. Uh he closed his doors. Sometimes you

(10:58):
don't always understand and why, but doc, I actually needed
that change. And as you know, I'm a general manager
of a television station and I also have my own company.
And so when you put the play by play in there,
you can see my calendar.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
Was very full, right.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
And so the thing is is that still the coaches
show coach at Florida A and N. But when you
have administrative changes, and in this case we had a
deputy athletic director and we also picked up another radio
network which brought in different type partners. The runic thing

(11:37):
is about this business is I received a text from
the athletic director at Florida A and M when we
were doing the game against Florida Inn at lanth and
she said.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
You guides are doing an.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Awesome job, an awesome job. Three days later there's another
call that they're moving in a different direction, but want
to retain me as the Coaches Show host doc. I
called you and you introduced me to the Q tip theory.
Quit taking it personal. I did, And I just want

(12:12):
to really thank you because we're sharing this now with
the world and you are on point, and I just
want to thank you for doing so. But as God
would have it, jumped into the business, I'm going to
be releasing our television show in January. Wouldn't have been
able to do that had I've been broadcasting. And then

(12:34):
I get a call two weeks ago. As you guys know,
Slag TV is in its first year and they've been
doing a phenomenal job with the football series. And I
got a call and they want me to do play
by play for Florida A and M basketball. And I accepted
that role and looking forward to it. For me, it's
a different type of resume item in that is national

(12:59):
basketball all on TV. I've done ESPN right, and I've
done Bouncing, B E T and of course local news.
But this is another line on the resume, and it's
God way, God's way of elevator.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
Well, look, man, you keep getting elevated, I might not
be able to come to the doorsteps anymore.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
Right that, brother, Mike, remember me, brother, you know it
would never get there.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
It would never get there. You're the only guy that
can call me up. And regardless of what I'm doing
this radio show right.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Well, I'm truly thankful, sir for that, and we're actually
proud for you in that.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Then.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
You know, as you say, sometimes we don't understand why
we have to go through certain things that we have
to go through, whether they be professional personal, but they
always want to bring us back spiritually.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
And when we when we understand that.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
We have to look at the grand picture, not just
what right now, and it all works out for a
good if we can just remember that Q tip and move.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Down the road.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
Good doc, Well, look, need to brand that well, I
don't know.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
I don't know how much I'd get through it, but
I decided to give it to those who to receive
it and say.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
Okay, man, whatever you can say, then we'll move forward.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
But now that we're looking into this, you got your basketball,
and the way I'm understanding this, more than likely it
would be less impactful for you because you'll be doing
majority home games.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Now, will it be me at women or just select
right now, it's going to be both it's going to
be men and women. And then as you know, and
the swack the women play on Thursdays. There's a double
header on Saturday, and then it's men's basketball on Monday.
That's a foreman and then they went to last year.
So it's supposed to be men and women. And what's interesting, Doc,

(14:56):
as you know you're there at Prairieville, is swacked team
is really a game changer for the conference.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Yes, yes it is, Yes it is.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
I've been I've been tooting that horn and you and
I've had uh say in depth conversations on the independence.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Even if it's just a slow start, a struggle start, it's.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Still worth it in the long run. And that was
a little slow out the gate with Buffalo. The strange
things intelligent as our fan base and not just HBCU
fan base, but Americans period. They don't understand the dynamics
of internet and streaming and all the horsepower it takes

(15:37):
to get that thing to flow consistently, and and they're
getting it together. I'm extremely proud of them. But I've
always been the radio guy, the audio.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
Version of it. Uh.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
I love it's flexibility, I love it's it's resistance.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
It's not it's not going anywhere.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
Yes, And for those who are care and appreciate it,
A lot of people don understand.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
There is a I'm gonna say a slight big.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Difference if you're allowing me to put it that way,
between an audio broadcast and a radio bro I mean
not an audio but a radio and a.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
Video broadcast or absolute.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
Absolutely, it's about the description, it's about the flow, it's
about the time, and to believe it or not, it's
feeling okay talking to yourself knowing you're not getting any
feedback from.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
You and a little sarcasm helps every now and then,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
So with you being able to be on both sides
of the fence right now, I know you heavy TV
dominant person. What has been some of your I guess
greatest challenges from going from one to the other platform.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
Well, it's gonna be interesting because, as I stated earlier,
I have done play by play.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
Football on ESPN.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
You know, for football, this is going to be the
first time that I actually do basketball on TV. I've
done basketball on radio. And for your audience out there,
I think you make a really good point about the
differences between the two. You know, in radio, you've got
to bring it there for the person that can't see it,

(17:17):
So you've got to be their eyes right, You've got
to really you've got to broadcast, and you've got to
broadcast with energy, and it's a whole different form of broadcasting.
I've been doing prep work for TV. One of the
things is that I think that it's going to be
a natural transition and that I have TV monitors in

(17:40):
front of me.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
That makes sense, So I'm going to actually.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
Have to learn to dial it back a little bit.
That's the opposite of what you want in radio. So
looking forward to the transition and certainly the action unfolding
on the court. Now, I've had the opportunity to cover
the Orlando Magic for the last twenty four years, and
so that's more of.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
A TV element. I think that background will help me.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
I was there as a reporter, but this is the
first time that I'm going to actually do basketball play
by play announcing on TV. So I think that Yeah,
I think that you make a really good point about
the two different platforms, and I agree with you.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
Radio is not going anywhere right.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
In my condozs for you, your Orlando Magic assignment, sir,
for twenty four years of torture.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
You know what it has?

Speaker 3 (18:37):
It has and for me, it all started with this.
It has been torture. I've been there since the beginning.
It has been torture. I will say I started in
that era where there was Shack and Penny, okay, and
that was a really really good era from they built
some really good relationships there. I think they have now

(18:58):
turned the corner. Okay, So they're coming back and they're starting.
They play the other night against Philadelphia and one big
against Philadelphia. I think that that program is definitely coming back.
I actually have a story, a TV story that I'm
going to be doing there next year on a player
from Florida State that's on their squad. So there Orlin

(19:21):
no Magic, It's going to come back, doc, So you know,
just chill out on them, Okay, Okay, Now you do.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
Know I'm originally from Missouri, right, and I am truly
thankful man that you have taken time out to meet
with us on such a short notice like it has men.
But you know, that's that's what we do and why
we do what we do, because you got to be

(19:47):
ready at all.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Times, right, absolutely, absolutely, I want to give you an
opportunity to reflect.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
We're in a holiday season, Thanksgiving time, Christmas, coming up
the New year beginning. Would you reflect on some things
that you are thankful for and what's been an impact
for you and your walk so far.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Absolutely, doc and thank you for asking me. You know,
coming into this year, I have a relationship with the
Lord and one of the things he placed on my
heart coming into this year, he sort of refocused me
by saying, walk in your purpose so that I get
all the honor, all the plays and all the glory,

(20:30):
and that kind of became my mantra this year. There's
been a lot of things that have happened this year
that I didn't quite understand. So first, I'd like to
thank God for good health. I have a beautiful wife
who supports me. That's important. I have friends, family, loved
ones that support me, which gives me the opportunity to

(20:54):
support them. And so I'm extremely thankful this year that
God has allowed me to be in a position to
live what I call healthy. And when I say that,
I mean mentally, physically, spiritually, financially, and emotionally.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
I'm thankful for it.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
God placing me in a position where I can navigate
all of them.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
Very very well stated servant. I can't even come back
with sarcasm mark on. And that's big, folks, that's big.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
That's big. What he doesn't mean. I am so glad
you're recording this. Nobody's going to believe it.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
Nobody is going to believe it at all, but God
not the good doctor.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
Man. Yeah, I have a wife or tear from my
house to mind. Wow.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
Yeah, that was really life film and man, the beauty
about this business is that you get to meet so
many unique individuals such as yourself and throughout the e
and it becomes a brother who it becomes a.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
Tern you know.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
And even though you know, the rattlers are nowhere to
be found this twenty twenty five season and it's all
about that purple and gold right now, but you know,
it is really about the synergy, man, of what makes
it special.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
Because when we look at this thing, there's only a
few of us. That's truly a few of us.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
That's true, and it doesn't seem like much to those
on the largest circus. But what we say matter, What
we what we what we do matters, and how we
do it matters even more and I want to thank
you for being a true professional. I want to thank
you for being a true brother. I just want to

(22:45):
thank you for just being an all right guy, even
for a guy from Ratler Nation. I really want to
think you know, you know, I'm gonna be nice. This
is your show, and I respect you. Everybody knows who
the good doctor is. But I'm not gonna let you go.
Because there's been a journalist by trade for a while.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
You are going to have to tell me about this
matchup between Jackson State the Tigers and Prairie View on tomorrow,
well late on Saturday, on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Actually, actually it's a week away. It's a week away, decent, okay,
to me about that here in this I'm taking off
the purple and gold glasses, okay, and I'm going straight
journalists approach with this answer. And this is about as honest.
This is honest as I can be with you. Right now,

(23:39):
Prairie View is peaking at the right time. They started
off a little uncertain, uh, growing and adjusting to the dynamics. Now,
as far as consistency goes, Prairie's defense has been the
most consistent defense throughout the conference. Hands down, hands down, Uh,

(24:06):
Jackson State, Uh, the big boy on the block. If
you would, TC Taylor a proven winner. A lot of people,
uh give credit to Dion Sanders and the turnaround that
he got. But if you go back and look at
that thing, t C. Taylor was there when Hendrick was
there and was actually going to be the next one

(24:28):
in line. But then who you know, you get a
chance to hire Dion?

Speaker 2 (24:31):
Why not? Right? But T C.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
Taylor was the root, the rout, the rut, the router.
I'm sorry to that boat, that ship that was that
was navigating. Dion was the face, but TC was that
pure driver, that anchor that kept that ship savor and
when he stepped off, it was an easy transition, at

(24:54):
least from.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
My vantage point.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
Right, Jackson State's Achilles Hill right now, Justice Pervy's Achilles
Hill is going to be a quarterback in quarterback right, yes, sir,
But in all fairness, I believe Pervy has a little
better defense than Jackson.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
State, and they have a better running game.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
Than Jackson State, which is going to be the neutralizer
special teams.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
I'm going to lean a little bit.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
Toward Jackson State on And I said all that to
say with no purple and gold glasses on straight from
the heart. I see Perriview winning this from twenty one
to seventeen.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
That's a big prediction because I saw Jackson State against
Florida and m and they did not have their quarterbacks,
but they had a fierce running game. They had two
guys to go over one hundred, and I was wondering
about Prairieview, your coach out there, was actually at Valdosta State.
So when you guys hired him, I knew that you

(25:56):
guys are going to turn that program around. I think
that the big question coming from the national media is
do you hold on to this guy?

Speaker 1 (26:04):
Well, it's ironic that you would say that, I've been
catching a little heat Jackson. I call him t J.
Jackson is an outstanding coach, approven winner and has come in.
Uh he came in with he'd ruffled some feathers talking
about turning water into wine, cry talking talking about Atlanta

(26:29):
at l a bus and and everything is lining up.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
My deal is this.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
On our level, on our level, success brings change. And
when I say that is that people will notice you
and people will begin to cherry pick your Heck, you
just experienced that with Willie Simmons. Absolutely, Simmons came in
by the way of periview of course, you know, and

(26:57):
and and and help you know, reestablish that Sam you
way if you would.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Absolutely, when's that championship goes to do? Now? At FIU
doing his thing?

Speaker 1 (27:10):
Okay, we have to accept and embrace who and where
we are. Gone. Are the days of the Eddie Robinson's
gone or the days of the Billy Nicks.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
These are guys I'm.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
Talking about that have been long time staples and head
coaching positioned twenty plus years.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
That day is long gone. That is long gone.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
So just like look at it as an nil opportunity
to a transfer portal. These coaches go in here, they're
gonna exhibition, they're gonna do what they gonna do.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
And then they're moving on down the road.

Speaker 1 (27:43):
Now, once again, as a PV supporter, I can't take
it personal that if the opportunity comes, he leaves.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
That's that's the business. That's that's where we are today.

Speaker 1 (27:55):
You know, just like there a sign I would think
it was a Texas A and M's coach uh Elko
just gets this six year extension, but heck in two
or three years either he gonna be leaving that they're
gonna fire him. I can understand that, you know. But
but back to you know, to the to the main point.

(28:16):
Jackson's name is hot and deservedly so. Right, prairie View,
as much as we would love to, we would love
to keep him, but realistically, if the right resources show up,
we won't be able to afford him. Right, we will, right,
And that's right. That's the nature of the beast. That's

(28:37):
not being a Debbie Downald, that's being a realist. A
lot of people don't like it when you look at
things straight the way they are, you know, So embrace
this river while you can beat up on them rattlers,
while you can, you know, up on them jags, while
you hey what it is?

Speaker 2 (28:53):
You know what?

Speaker 1 (28:54):
You know?

Speaker 2 (28:55):
What you know? Did you explain to those people out there? Folks?
There's two marks on his neck and I kept.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
Pointing to these two marks and he couldn't figure him out.
He was what's happening? And I had to remind him
that Prairie View came down to Tallahassee in twenty twenty three,
Perry we was in the championship game and lost to Florida.
In him, we won a national championship. But Doc didn't
understand because he wasn't feeling well. What happened, folks, He

(29:25):
was bidden by a rattler and I actually stepped in
because I was born in the Florida and Him hospital.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
And the reason he's talking to us.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
We have several levels of n him okay, and we
have several levels.

Speaker 2 (29:41):
Some is just you know, knock you down. And so Doc,
we couldn't. We couldn't.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
We couldn't use level three on him because Doc got
to broadcast to you people.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
You know, you got to. He's got a broadcast, you know.
So Doc, Doc, the heels, the wounds, they're good.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
Now you're back in the championship game and all's well.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
Yes, all well, and you keep referring back to twenty three. Yeah, man,
that was so long.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Ago, you know, you know, you know, I'm just reminded
of Janet Jackson.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
What have you done for me? You know?

Speaker 1 (30:14):
You know, so you know, while we prepare for this
championship game, you prepare for that uh whatsoever bowl.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
That it's weak. You know that you're scary. You're scary.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
I'm hearing that the game into beinga I'm hearing that
the game and into Beena.

Speaker 2 (30:35):
This is president setting.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
I'm hearing that they're going to have free admission to
that game between Florida and m and Mississippi bwing.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
A free admission is an understatement as far as I'm concerned,
because first of all, is there going to be anybody there?
Student wise were gone?

Speaker 2 (30:53):
Right? I don't think the players want to be there.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
So I was honestly joking aside off, man, I wonder
they're going to even having the flayers from both sides
of them show up.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
You know what, Yes, sir, it's interesting.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
I mean, well, the game was originally scheduled for October
to Ford Atlantic, right, and there's something happened with the contractors,
and they moved the game to this weekend, right.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
And so that's the big thing.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
And you're right, it's Thanksgiving weekend and so everybody is gone.
And I think it's a brilliant move marketing wise.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
In it to be No.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
No, I was out there a couple of years ago,
right to have this game free.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
But I want to wish everyone well in this Whack
Championship game.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
This is going to be a tremendous matchup between Jackson State,
the Tigers and Prairieview Panthers. I think that it's really
good that you were able to take off your purple
and goal glasses and I appreciate and respect your viewpoint
because you have the pose.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
And I want to thank you for you and your network.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
You guys Simulcash several of our Florida and I'M broadcasts
and as you know, we're streamed globally, right and so
that was big because I actually during the broadcast, if
you remember, I made mention of your network several times,
and so we were in Australia and Barbados and the action

(32:17):
the network was global, And I just want to encourage
you to continue doing what you're doing. You are trailblazer
that's been doing it the right way for a long time,
and you definitely have support here in Florida.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
Well, sir, that is awful kind of you, and I'm
truly thankful for meeting your acquaintance and just like we said,
being able to carry our stories together on this journey.
He is Melvin Beale, the voice of Ratlers Basketball by
way of Tallahassee. Now give people you're gonna swack TV?

(32:53):
Now are you doing anything locally with basketball? And just
be strictly to Swack TV.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
It'll be strictly to I am the general manager of
a local TV station here, so that's been my primary
focus as my full time job. And as I mentioned,
I have MBJ Communication, which is an emerging multi media company,
and we're going to release the first of one of
my shows in January. It's going to be called Truth

(33:20):
in Action, So that'll be coming out there.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
And so no.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
I'll be specifically focused on Florida and in basketball.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
And as you know, they named their head coach back
in March, Charlie Ward. Charlie Ward is a.

Speaker 3 (33:37):
Heisman Trophy winner from Florida State University. Did not get
drafted by the NFL because at his time back in
ninety three, they really weren't drafting black quarterbacks. He went
on to get drafted by the New York Knicks and
had a successful twelve year career with the Knicks. He

(33:57):
was hired here by Florida and him and he's already
starting to turn the program around in a very positive way,
and that's financial support.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
So yeah, and I'll leave you with this. You know
what's interesting about Florida A and M.

Speaker 3 (34:15):
As you know, we share the city with Florida State University.
Right Florida A and M's HAD men's football coach. It's
James Cosey, graduate of Florida State, men's basketball coach, Charlie Watt,
graduate of Florida State. Jeremy ship Had baseball coach, graduate

(34:41):
of Florida State.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
New athletic director.

Speaker 3 (34:44):
John Davis coming in in January.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Graduate of Florida State.

Speaker 3 (34:49):
Interesting dynamic going on. Idiot Florida is FSU one point five.
You know what, you should be the first to say that,
you see, folks, he always does this.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
You're right, he's the first. He always does that.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
This is why you're successful. See, you keep people on
the edge of their seats, right with bold statements like that,
Well let me quit. Well, I'm a head.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
Thank you so much, even mister Melvindale of fam U Athletics.

Speaker 2 (35:20):
