Speaker 1 (00:02):
And welcome back to another episode of After further review,
we are joined None of It by Coach Heights Northern Coach.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
How you doing today, sir.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
Hey man, I'm well. And then I'm glad to be
off the road.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
You know.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
I end up driving over to Jackson, uh with a
with a stopping between Baton Rouge and stayed at my
dad's house. But uh, I'm glad to be back in
the big town of Cyples, Texas. Look then being in
I always say Jackson is one of my favorite places
to go to a game. And with the environment, the
(00:39):
people that I saw, and for the Panthers to.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Get a victory, Uh, I thought that would big.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Oh and by the way, like I say, y'all favorite freshman,
don't old Jackson, Mississippi. One thing man that jokers. I
look down there, he's on the front row at least
just standing up on the wall.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
And his picture gets taken and it's in the photos
from the game and the Jackson newspaper. So like they say, man,
he's not over anything. And then for him to be
able to see some of the guys that remember him
being in the stroll of the bassinet were the cost
(01:19):
seat and meeting rooms or guys that used to take
into the cafeteria to eat because we met at six
thirty in the morning, so I would make sure guys
got out of time to go eat breakfast. And you know,
some of those guys would take him over there and
bring him back if they didn't have an eight or
nine o'clock class. So for him to hang with those guys,
it was a big but it was a great day
(01:41):
for everybody involved in Penis.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Yes, sir, yeah, sir, Well, it's ironic you brought that up, Coach,
because during the broadcast I thought about it, and it
was reflecting you were tied in at two integral parts
of preview Championship history, one us a staff and then
blah blah on the mic. Man to be able to
call that thing and watch it unfold. I noticed that
(02:05):
the end of the game, it got a bit emotional
for me. What was going to your mind at that time, shir.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Man, Just like I say, just from going from.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Where where was Prairie football when I got involved in
it with we had we didn't even have First of all,
we didn't even have the trailers.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Then to go from all.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
The football coaches wasn't even in the same building. Some
of us had offices in the bottom.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Of the baby doll right then.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Some of us had officer or some of them I
should say, had offices in the health center.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
So when we.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Wanted to have a total staff meeting, the defensive coaches
had to walk over to where the offensive coaches were.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Uh so it was you know, you had to deal
with that.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Then to go from that.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
To the trailers, the trailers to I never made it
to the stadium, stash field house phase. And look, before
I took the job at the head coaching job, I
should say, I asked them, I say, hey, man, the
field house is gonna be used if it's a three
hundred and sixty five day year, probably three hundred and
(03:16):
sixty three at a minimum three hundred and fifty five
days a year. Can we get the field house built
first and then bring the stadium along. At least you
could show that to recruits. But you know that didn't happen.
But to go from that to where they are not
winning the championship, the APR penanties me totally staying away
(03:39):
from Prayerview because I knew if I went around it
wasn't gonna be good for myself for certain other people.
Then to come back to it and be around start
doing radio and have my son choose Prayerview and he
chose on his own because I honesty was saying I
(04:01):
really wanted him to go to Southern, probably play baseball there, uh,
you know, anywhere. Then for him to say, look, this
is why I want to go to school. This is
way I feel most comfortable. And to have him be
able to be around those guys, be treated well when
he went to summer programs and now traveling, you know,
(04:21):
going to Southern's homecoming, going to Dallas for the Cotton
Bowl game, going to Jackson to the championship game, and
to see him enjoy himself of you know, like his decisions.
I think that's what really made it more emotional for
me seeing his progress more so than me being around
(04:46):
the championship team. And I'm happy for those coaches, those players.
Oh and by the way, I forgot coach Jackson and man,
I'm drawing a blank, but for them letting my niece
come around and go to practice and treating her like
like you was Coach Jackson's niece or the AD's niece
(05:08):
coming to practice and letting her being a huddle on
two many drives, letting her be involved, giving her a basket,
you know, and she was celebrating the Prairie victory like
her dad was on the coaching staff.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
So like say, what they call a full circle moment that.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Was totally at the end.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
And then seeing my former players, and I talked to
Dalvin Nettles in particular, and he's like, coach, man, I
was he was up there crying because he was on
the championship team. Uh, he said, Man, I was up
there crying, Uh, you know, just thinking about how it
was when when we finally got over the hump there
(05:48):
at Praiview. And then you know me and here I say, man,
the same thing happened to me. I don't know why,
but you know, like I say, you just have all
those thoughts sort.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Of running through your mind. Yes, sir, yes, sir. Well
it was full circle from a broadcaster's point of view,
when your own son picks up the mantle and says, pop,
I got.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
This, we got this. And to hear his excitement to.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Uh see and feel the glow and his presence, and
might I add it might sound biased to those who
may be listening. I think you guys do an outstanding job.
You all work well with each other and off of
each other, and it was a it was a quality
UH broadcast production, and it's a part of history that
could never be taken away, coach. And I'm about to
(06:37):
I'm about to break my my, my alle just a minute, coach.
We got it on history's record, on our archives, and
the university can't even say.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
That look the other thing, and I probably need to apologize.
So I didn't know that it was the open booth
of this, so I had been walking around, so I
go to the press box. Now, mind you, the elevator
was broken when we first got there, so we couldn't
get up there for a while. And I told Philip
be An honest, I said, man, I'm not walking those
(07:09):
stairs more than once if I have to, because I
used to go up and then I come back down
and go.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Into the festivities.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
So I get up there and I'm like, man, it's open.
I only have on a T shirt and a sin
Prairieview pullover. So at halftime, I don't I'm pretty sure
you noticed, but I had to go to the truck
and get me some a knitted hat and a pullover,
so that's why it was no halftime. So if it was,
(07:39):
it was just Philip because I had to go get
another shirt because of how cold I was up there.
But it was a little at least it wasn't cold
and raining, but man, that was and it turned out
to be really good football weather and it was good.
But uh, yeah, it's amazing, I said. I find myself
sometimes because I can see what is about to happen,
(08:02):
having to hold off and apologize almost like touching, like man,
that's my bad because I'm seeing something and to me,
I don't want people to miss, like what is about
to happen or what am I seeing from a football
standpoint that they may not be able to see but
I can visual paint a picture for him, or what's
(08:23):
about to happen based off the formation and stuff.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
Yes, sir, yes sir.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
But in all it's said and done, job well done.
But there's one more assignment on the to do list,
and that'll be coming up this weekend and it's going
to be a very tall order. Taking on the likes
of coach Sheennis Bury and those South Carolina State Bulldogs.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Now an amazing factor about those Bulldogs.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
They have not lost a conference game in two seasons.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Coach a very.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
Physical state and to me, it's going to be Jackson
all over again with a slight bit more aggression coming
from the Bulldogs. Are you saying this thing measuring up?
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Yeah? I think.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
South Carolina State's offense is a more attacking style offense,
where there they'll give you some double moves and they'll
try to do some things a little bit more I
would say creative in the passing game. But at the
same time, man, you gotta have time to block all
that stuff up, and I think that's a good thing.
Like I say, when people see Prairie views three man front,
(09:37):
they automatically think that you're gonna be able to run
the ball against. And I've been telling people for the
longest it's not a three man front because you got
the three men that have their hand in the dirt.
You have a middle linebacker, you have the two overhands,
and then you have those three safes that at time,
if you look up, they are seven or eight yards
(10:00):
off the ball, and some people don't count that as
the box, but if you really look at it, that's
a nine man box. If you the only people you
really can't count or the cornerback because I keep saying, man,
once those guys recognize run they trigger, that means they
gonna they gonna run to the ball very fast. The
(10:22):
other thing is, and I thought Jackson, Jackson's quarterback never
pulled the ball on the zone or the zone reader.
They would have pulled it just a couple of times.
Prairiview's backside defenders would have had to slow down. And
those guys constantly made plays off the backside running the
(10:46):
ball down once Jackson handed it off, and like they.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Had they pulled it a couple of times, you.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
Have to slow them down.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
When your quarterback is not a threat in the zone
reading game, then.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
You need to stop running zone. You'll like say, you don't.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
Have to kill people, but you got to be able
to hurt.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Them every now and then.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Right right, and man, you're talking about a white house
to outhouse moment it all happened.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
There was one Drive Perview had sixteen eighteen play. Drive
started their own six.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Yard line and methodically eating up clock, moving downfield and
Peters gets the first down to try to reach for
that dog on touchdown, end up turning the ball over
the good thing about that, like we stayed ate up
a ton of time, and so it kind of made
(11:41):
it DEFRIU. But if they could have punched it in
right then, because I'm be quite honest with your coach,
Perview dominated the game. The score indicates that it was close,
but Perview, in my opinion, dominated that game from start
to finish.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
You think about the first three times Jackson had the ball,
they didn't get a first down. They didn't get there
first first down until the beginning of the second quarter,
right so, and it was some quick three in hours.
And I think you know, even though Jackson had way
more people, I think that is what kept previews got
(12:14):
previews crowded me and it was some leather being laid
early in that ball game by both teams. But Prairiview
control the field position because Jackson ran three plays and
punted three plays and punted, where at least Previews drove
the ball, Mister field goals drove the ball punted, and
like like keep going back to the friendly game of putback.
(12:37):
And I said before the game field position was gonna
be way more important, especially when both.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Teams have a ground oriented running tack.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
And then you add in the fact that Cam can
extend plays and you can diagram plays for him. A
lot of quarterbacks you don't diagram, or you don't call
plays with the intention of them run and they run
as a result of a read, or they run as
a result of nobody's open down field.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Right right, right, So back to to this, Uh, this
game is coming up. When you look at these teams
coaches almost like looking in a mirror.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
They're very balanced.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
That they attack from the same areas of time of
possession is scary.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
I really look forward to this being.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Another close contest, competitive contest, but in reality, the meact
has had the Swack's number and I don't know if
it was you. I know, I've talked with several different
coaches in before. I think it's the style of play,
the type of players they're accustomed to recruiting, and where
do you see that Prairie View can be the odd
(13:52):
norm to that prototypical Swack quote unquote swack team.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
But they're very physical team.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
They can run the ball, they can adopt the run.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Uh. And you think about it.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
You know, coach Jackson made his marque or background as
a defensive lineman.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
And coach Barry is an old offensive.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
Line coach, so both of them they want to be
able to run the ball. Both come from the same
type of background. You know, had some success in the
Division two ranks and got to be head coaches at
HBC used and now you know it's one of those
disguise the limit both of them. They say, South Carolina
(14:33):
State has a historical program, look one of the better
HBC used over there. But I think the biggest thing
is South Carolina State and Prairie. You have everything that
you need in order to be successful. I think that's
that's one thing that's seen. But just the running game
is gonna be the key to it once again. And
(14:58):
you know, I can say I don't see what where
Prairiew doesn't have an advantage, not sounding Homer risk, but
when you got Diego who made three field goals as
a true freshman and twag championship game, you have The
kickoff team played much better except maybe one I think
they end up getting a face mass penalty on but
(15:19):
they did a good job of what we call it
corner kick right, avoid right, They kicked it to the right,
put it on the numbers, and why Jackson State didn't
start calling left return like.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
My dad said, it behooves me.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
They kept trying to bring it back to the right,
to their right, to their sideline, and all Prerie did
was use their backside guys.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
To run it down because they didn't block.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
You can't block everybody on the kickoff return, but you
have to block somebody at the point of attacking. If
like I say, if I would have been coaching against them,
I would have ran some left returns. But that was
the that was the weakness that Preiview had. Now, it
may not be a super strint, but it's not hurting
you anymore. And when you get cut down on what's
(16:04):
hurting you, they may be better than.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
Having a strint at times.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
Yes, sir, now we're going to address the elephant in
the role coach. Because it didn't matter who the SWACK
representative was. It was always apparently on the surface, an
advantage for the meact because they have two weeks to
prepare for whoever that opponent might be. How do you
use this to your advantage? I'm thinking that fact that
(16:30):
the SWACK champion in this case, per review, they're in
rhythm because they're still playing. But what you see is
what you get. You're gonna have to dance fore you
got the guy here with you. No time for trickery added,
And that's where you might have a slight advantage if
you're me act. But how do you play this to
your favor if you're in this case Coach Jackson.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
Well, you still got a labb of going. You're still
in rhythm. And you think.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
South Carolina State hadn't played in three weeks now the
only good things And I don't look at it like
they've had this time to prepare, because when you don't
know who you're gonna.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
Play, you have certain things that you work on. But
it's priviege defense. Nobody else runs, so.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
To get ready for this defense in a week is
not the typical task.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
So that's the thing.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
I don't see it as being an advantage when you're
talking about Russ versus rest. The only advantage they have
to me is they may be well rested, but depending
on how you practice, you know, they still having to
do the workouts. The only adjustment they may have to make.
I'm pretty sure school is out over there, just as
it will be with Priviege. Now, Praview guys got to
(17:47):
take final exams after winning the TWAG Championship, and I'm
hoping that they GPA.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
Are you know they might get a few.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
Little bonus points here and there for winning the championship,
But you know, I don't see an advantage. And the
coach and me talking because they only had one week
two prepared. But the only if there is advantage is
you know, you may be I'm not gonna say, rest
the guys, but your practices may not be as physical
(18:15):
as normal and they may not last as long because
you don't know who you're preparing for.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Okay, now, coach, I'm about to put you on the
hook for real this time.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
I've been giving you a.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
Past all season long because I know you know all
the coaches in the conference and you don't want to
have nobody ain'tt I heard what you said with Mike
Prince over there, But how dare you get out of
my office?
Speaker 2 (18:41):
Get out of my get off my field?
Speaker 1 (18:44):
What's your projection for this this game coming up?
Speaker 2 (18:48):
Coach?
Speaker 3 (18:49):
Can I tell you what what I told a few
people last week. I'm gonna tell you what I told
and you may okay, I told my sister, I told
QK Quinn Kellams I told mister Young, who his wife
was my.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Real estate agent. He used to be with my family
a lot during the games.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
He goes to a lot of Preview games, and it's
one other person. But I told I told Johnny Cole,
I said Prairie gonna.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
Beat Jackson by twenty points.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
That is what I exactly what I told him, And
this is why I told him that. I say, they're
gonna be able to shut down the running game, and
it's gonna be close.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
Praierview may be.
Speaker 4 (19:30):
Up by seven ishs or something like that, and then
Jackson is gonna throw an interception.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
And I said zach Arick was gonna get him a
pick six, and I've been calling for him to get
a pick six, so he might wait untill this game.
But I said Preiview's defense was gonna score twice.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
That was my prediction. It didn't happen that way.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
But I told those people before the game that I
said I wouldn't tell a lot of people.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
I don't tell.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
I'm not gonna tell a media and I look at you,
but I find it hard to believe that based off
the way that Preview's defense has been playing and the
productivity that they've been getting from not only.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
The quarterback spot in terms of passing the.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Ball, but being able to have him get one hundred
yards while your two top rushers were shut down. Now
you got the third rusher who's been coming on as
of late with you might say fresh legs, that's been
making some plays. But I don't see somebody being able
to get ready for Preview's defense in one week and
(20:43):
having a lot of success versus.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
Yes, sir, yes, sir, yes, sir. I think we're in
agreement on that.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
I've been stated early on a couple earlier shows that
the anchor of this team has definitely been the defense
for his consistency all season long, as the offense is
up to picking at the right time, in particular for
quarterback play of Cam Peters. Even though somebody needs to
get that young man's attention, I don't think that'll ever
happen again, especially when you had a critical understanding of
(21:11):
situation of that game. You got the first down, man,
just keep on, let the Clark milk away, then punt
it in. But I do understand the adrenaline going forth. Uh,
So we're looking forward to it. Uh we got one
more coach, and look, I'm look, I'm gonna put your notice.
Don't come back without a championship.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
Hey, look, man, look I don't have a player call.
I don't have him study. Matter of fact, I'm gonna
I'm gonna probably go later on today. I got one
or two things to do for my wife. But later
on today I'm probably gonna go to ESPN, HBCU go
and FIGN a South Carolina State game to watch. I
(21:53):
saw a little bit of a couple of games. You know,
I know coach Barry from his time when he was
at Southern. I know that offensive coordinator from when he
played a quarterback at Gramblin. I may know a couple
other guys, but I know those two. But I'm gonna
look at it and see what may cause preview a
(22:15):
problem here or there. I know last year they had
a quarterback that transferred with coach Barry from to South
Carolina State. But this year is another kid that's playing.
So I'll go look and see what may give the
Panthers some problems here and there. Though yes, sir, yes, sir,
well don't forget la John will be an early kickoff
(22:37):
eleven am Central time, twelve noon from Atlanta, Georgia.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
But you'll have the play.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
By play audio style right here at the open my
broadcast network coach. Any comments, comments thoughts before we wrap
this segment up.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
Now, man, look, I want to tell you thank you
and looking a little bit at it because like so
many things have happened, you know, like I say, I
since two thousand and five, since I came to Prayer View,
and I'm just thinking about me and you, meeting to you,
(23:13):
coming by doing some stuff at practice for us to
you Me and you started and I say, we started back,
started talking and then start doing some shows.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
And because of the show.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
That I did with you, are do with you.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Now I get a chance to do a show with Lionel,
who I would say was your protege when you were at.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
KPVU am I correct? Uh huh so.
Speaker 3 (23:39):
And for when I'm at certain places when people come
to the.
Speaker 4 (23:43):
Press box and ask about, hey, where.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
Is Mike, And then I say, well, and I know
Philip probably gets tired of being introduced as Mike's prince son.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
And hey, you know when.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
I tell people, you know, like say this, I don't
say this Bill of prince, this, this is this.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Mike's son right here, not Philip.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
So you know, just thinking about all that, But a
lot of doors have opened.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
You know, I end up on.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
Doctor Caville Show last week, I end up on Johnny
Cole Show last week. So it's a lot of different
doors that have been opened because of you and our relationship.
So I just want a person tell you things like say,
we talked about it a little bit, but just just
all the stuff that happened. So I'm looking forward to
cause nine times out of ten, man, if I wouldn't
(24:27):
be doing I'd probably be gone hunting somewhere. But I
would try to make it to where Adam can enjoy
this as much as possible. Just you know, now, he's
of an age that, like say, one of my players
saw Adam's pitcher in the Jackson newspaper and he said, Man,
Adam ain't gonna forget this. As long as he lived,
(24:48):
he always be able to talk about. Yes, he wrote
us and pray you won the championship. Oh, and he
was in the newspaper.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
He went by the alumni, you know, the brothers and
you know the couple quite a few guys that played
for mere members of Omegast five. So he had a
chance to you know, hang with them guys, get some
grub and you know, just talk about you know, how
he was sitting in the meeting room with him, or
how they took him to the bookstore. You know, hey, man,
(25:18):
I see this prais Jack a man, You think Adam
might want to you know, all this kind of stuff that,
you know, makes it a really a family experience, especially
for me and you having a chance to see our
sons En Georgia played the championship more enjoyable for me
(25:39):
looking across and he was almost diregular across the field
from us, looking at Joker having the time of.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
His life, cheering on the Like I say, I'm talking fright.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
When I'm talking, I'm talking about literally standing up on
the wall that separates the feel from the little walk
around area, and you know, just all that type of stuff.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
So man, I'm just glad.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
I did get involved with you, Like say, man, I'm
gonna have you back no matter what goes on, Like
I say, if I move on or move up and
move down, like I said, I know, I always baby say, man,
if it wasn't for this right here, then a lot
of other stuff that came or will come my way.
Wouldn't have happened because of us, you know, talking on
(26:26):
the phone. Are not quite like we're in a barber shop.
But you know, with some good backing for a banter
as well as you know, giving people information, some inside
information without giving away stuff that people can say, Oh, man,
now I see maybe why somebody did have some success,
or why this play worked, why it didn't work, all
(26:49):
that type of stuff.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
I'm thankful for it. Though.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
Well, I'm thankful man. You kind of brought back to me.
You brought up old Johnny Cole. Cole used to bounce
around with us for a little while out here at
the open mic, and he's doing quite well. Caville came through.
He's doing quite well. And my son was kind of
shocked because I don't talk much about it coaching. I
feel like I'm not done, but it's trying to, you know,
(27:15):
to make room for other folks to come through. And
I still got plenty to do. He said, probably, I
didn't know. You know so many people folks there and said, well, son, I've.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Been doing this for a little while.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Man, And I don't name drop. I just try to
stay consistent.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
Man.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
And I appreciate the relationships that you build over the years.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
Let me tell you one other thing.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
So Adam has a personalized privilege jersey with his high
school number on it, but it says it says Panther's
on the front, it says.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
Northern on the back, So like, hey, man.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
You know, I'm not trying to say it, but I
would wear this sometimes to the game because a lot
of people when they realize who he is, that that Adam,
They're like okay. But a lot of times they can
be a simple conversation starter where people say, hey, are
you coaching North? Are you little Adam? As a lot
(28:06):
of people calling, and you know, that's an easy conversation starter.
But sometimes, you know, kids don't always want to be
referred to.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
As as their dad sons. Because when I go.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
To certain parts of bat and Ruge, if me and
my dad are together, like people still call my dad.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Coach Northy because he coached.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
Little league football in baseball, or if me and my
brother are together my brother coach football.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
On the north side of town.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
A lot of people don't know who I am because
I only coach high school ball for one year. So
they'll see my brother and they call him coach Norty.
So like say, sometimes we want to distance ourselves, but
you know, I got telling hey man, get the conversation start,
get your foot in.
Speaker 4 (28:51):
The door, and you never know who knows who.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
And then like say for the guy that played for
me to send me a picture of Adam in a newspaper,
and he just send me the picture of Adam and
then he still calls him little. They don't call him
little Adam is little Adam that you know.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
It's like so it's one of those l I L
l add the last l so, but it's good.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
And look, so only one of my wi former wide
receivers who's a police officer in the Houston area, so
he faced times another former football player and he's like,
hey man, I'm with coach Martin. And then this Adam
back here and the guy sees that Adam is now
taller than my former football player. He starts teasing him like, man,
(29:42):
how you let Adam get taller? And you know all
this so man, it was good for him to be
around the Jerome Howards and the Cleve College and you know,
you name it, for him to be able to say
hey man or they say man, you know, we remember
such and such, so it was a great day, a
great experience. Like say, he is happy with his choice
(30:03):
because look the bad thing about it. His other two
choices were I'm gonna say final choice with North Carolina Central.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Who really struggled in football, and.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
My Southern Zags who only won two games. So he's
feeling proud about the choice that he made to go to.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Praise being in university.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
Well with that, it's it's a it's a gift that
keeps on giving, coach. And as I get ready to
wrap up, my wife reflectors over her talking to his brothers.
So he said, I then became the old man having
any so in one of those deals man, and it
(30:43):
could be worse, but who knows where it can prepel from,
because I want to thank you man, travel travel, save
travel well, and like I said, don't come back without
that celebration championship.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Coach.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
I know you say you're not making no calls, but
you can hit the bat signal or something to help
get some insights. But whatever the case may be, I
think it's going to be a fantastic game. I want
PV Nation to travel safe for that point. We want
the bulldogs to travel safe as well, and let's just
everybody come out, have a wonderful time man and do
