Speaker 1 (00:02):
And welcome back to another episode of The Locker Room
featuring the Guru himself, none other than Coach Van Peedaway.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Coach, how you doing today, sir?

Speaker 3 (00:11):
Well, I'm doing great surr in Huntsville, Alabama, but I
know things got to be fantastic out at Prayerview. I
am so happy for you all. I want to congratulate
you all. Uh. It does go to show that I
might have wanted to pick them, but you yes. And

(00:33):
I want to apologize to Paitimation for me even picking
against you guys. I had Jackson State winning in a
close one. Remember, yes, me and Son and everybody else wrong.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Well, I was just going to say, coach, you just
welcome to the rest of the group.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
A lot of people were overwhelmingly picking Jackson Stanon matter
of fact, I.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Had a guy tell me direct to me. He said, men,
Jackson was going to beat Preview by four touchdowns. I
was like, are you crazy? You know?

Speaker 1 (01:05):
And so I said, even if he lost, it wasn't
gonna be about four touchdowns. I'm extremely proud of this group,
but it's not complete just yet.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
It is one more leap in front of.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Us, and that's going to be a tough leap with
coach Chennisbury and South Carolina State board dolls. What I'm
more impressed with Coach Barry has not lost the conference
game in two seasons, coach over in the MIAC and
they're looking to continue to roll. But I'm really really
liking the matchup, in particular the defense for the Panthers

(01:41):
and the upteak uptick of the quarterback play and special
team play off late right, Cameron.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Peters was awesome in this game, your quarterback getting outstanding job.
Had two hundred and ninety four yards passing along with
one hundred yards rushing. He had a nominable game. And
I was, I'm gonna be honest, I was impressed with
your defense. I thought I thought that the Panthers man,
they hit, they hit, and they hit again. That I

(02:11):
thought that the defense was on point. But now that
is that's all well and good that South Carolina State
has not lost a mead game in a couple of years,
but they have not come across coach Jackson yet either.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Now, well, this is true, sir, this is true.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
So that that's a that's that's a big factor right there.
So I'm looking forward to the matchup. And of course
I'm swack all the way.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Well, I was gonna say, now, coach, you can't go
against absolutely, no.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Circumstances, no circumstance. And then after that performance and yet
at uh Vetrian Memorial Stadium says no way you can
go against.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
The family absolutely. Now, coach, here is something that people
goes like, oh man, here you go. Friends.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
What I got to be a realist about this, With
the way things are moving so swiftly in collegiate athletics,
if coach is able to put the cherry on top
of winning the Celebration Bowl and the way things are moving, yes,
I know, he just signed a contract that he uh
in year one. What is the likelihood that they will

(03:23):
dangle a big enough carrit that he said, you know what,
I've achieved what I need to achieve here, it's time
for me to move to greener pastors.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
Well, here's the thing that you all got in your favor.
Most of the jobs that are worth anything are being
feeled already, you know. You know, there's been a big
hiring craze in the last five or six days. So
a lot of the jobs that he might be that
might be interested in him, they're already being feeled. But

(03:51):
I'm gonna say this about coach Jackson. Now you name
another coach that's been in two back to back UH
National championship game, because that's what this is. The winner
this game would be HBCU National championship. He played for
a Division two national championship last year.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Yes, sir, yes, sir, that's rare air material for sure. Coach, Yes, sir, yes,
rare air material. And I'm liking the vibe.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
And like I told you earlier and like I stayed
at all season long, I think this team was built
for the road. I think the road Warriors for sure,
and them having to travel to the atl I think
it's like an eight hundred plus mile traveler compared to
with South Carolina. I think it's under three hundred miles
for them to get to Atlanta. Not looking at that

(04:43):
as a strike against the Panthers, I'm looking at it
as a fuel engage, if you would, I do no
PV Nation will represent and be there strong, and I
cannot wait for this game to kick off early kickoff
of course it's eleven am hour time. Now I get
confused a little bit in the Atlanta not Atlanta, but

(05:06):
the Alabama area some parts of Atlanta. I mean Alabama
or Eastern and central correct, No, no, no, no, we're.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Central, We're central. But here's the thing that that means
that Atlanta, that that's twelve o'clock in Atlanta right for
that game, but Alabama Central time. You go, Okay, here's
the d You step across the border and you're in
Eastern time.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
I knew it was I knew it was something corred
with that because I can recall flying into Atlanta to
come to Birmingham.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yeah, and I lose an hour gain and hour right yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
But now here's the thing. Here's the other thing that
I like about what the pasts did. They're the first
team to win on the road since this wack has
gone to this format where the the number one were
not the number on Yeah, the number one seed hosts
the championship game.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Yes, sir, sir, they're the.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
First team to win on the road at the Championship Series.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Well, what can I tell you about that? Perfected heel coach.
That's what happens, man, when you.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Just have to give it to you, because see they
your pathers came out and just punsed them in the mouth.
I mean, uh, PV came up seven zero with with
with Peter's going a seven yard touchdown run. I mean,
from start to finish, I thought this the Pathers displayed
their moxie. They did everything that they needed to do

(06:36):
to come out on top. I mean they did not
back down. They had they had that crowd and Jackson
sitting on their hands.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Yes, sir, and I'm gonna tell you something, coach, that
was uh the game changer, as you mentioned purview. In
my opinion, I'm not saying this because I'm a PVY supporter.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
They dominated that game from the start, but the the
play in the second half when they drove literally ninety
five yards sixteen plus plays I want to say, sixteen
eighteen play drive and Peters had the first down but
reached trying to get the touchdown, and all they need

(07:18):
to do is get the first down, continue the Milton
Clark and then really put the bloats on them.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
They got the turnover.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
I was like, oh my goodness, not right there, which
gave Jackson a sliver of hope. But because of the
way the defense was playing, it was a great pivotal
point on both sides of the game, but if there
was a touchdown would have definitely separated them even better.
But man, what a performance. And like I said, it's

(07:47):
a good day to be at that perfected heel sir.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Yes, sir, and yeah, you know, I don't want to
be a Debbie Donner. But the only thing that I
was disappointed in was the attendance. Only thirty two thousand
people got a chance to see this championship game and
it deserves more and better.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
Well, coach, for when attendance we've got at home to
gots a bonus for us. I'll take it. I'll take it.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
Oh look, it could be thirty two thousand, twenty two thousand,
and heaven for being under twelve thousand long as at
the end of the day comes this Saturday.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
It's got Prairie View A and M University of Panthers,
the Swack National champions all combined in one, and that's
the ultimate goal. Meanwhile, coach in quote unquote blue Blood Country.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Oh yeah, another champions fam you poor the trigger coach
Cozy has been relieved of duty, sir, Well, I think
a lot of people saw this coming.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
I mean, after two back to back years of media
archy in their mind, and then on top of that,
to lose two straight years to Mississippi Valley. I think
a lot of a lot of them people saw.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
That as an insult and yes, sir and yeah and uh.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
That's them saying not me. But uh, I think a
lot of people saw this coming after those losses.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Right right now, there's some names growing up and my
text uh and hotline is going off. I won't reveal
too much just yet until I get more detailed, but
we'll come with a special episode about that.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
But apparently there are a lot of people interested in
this position.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Oh yeah, yeah, that's that's one of the blue blood programs.
They got, I think just about everything you need. They
got the money, they got the fan base, they got
the support. So they're just looking for the right person
to lead them. But now here, here's my thing, fam
you has had a lot of turnover in the administration,

(10:03):
at the president and as the athletic director. Some stability
had to come from somewhere.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
No doubt, no doubt, no doubt. And we'll see they
just brought in a new ad and just got a
new president.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
I want to say as well, you know, so we'll
see how the train hits yourself up. I know this
is more of an express condition or episode, coach, but
we got some good dudes from that hardwood with those
Southern Jags doing some things. Yeah, right now, they're leading

(10:40):
the big twelve Southern Houston on Sunday seventy to sixty two.
And that's and prior to that, those same Lady Jags
jumped over the University.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Of Arizona and beat them sixty three to fifty seven.
So there they have done an outstanding job.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
I'm I'm about to be I'm about to be so
premature right now, coach. Let's go ahead and get them
a seeding in the in the in the with a
twelve or eleven seed ranking in the tournament.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Let me tell you something. This is I promise you
at the end of the year, if Southern can get
that automatic bid, they will not be a sixteen seeds.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
They were guaranteeing that, coach. See you guaranteeing that, coach?

Speaker 3 (11:28):
Uh, you know I can't guarantee that with them with
the mother people making the final reason. But with these
two victories alone, this means that they should not be
in a sixteen.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
Seed logically speaking. Logically speaking, right, right right speaking you know.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
But we we'll say, look and speaking of sour grapes,
the audacity of Notre Dame pouting.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
Oh oh, come on, please, Hey, they may get it,
but in the Conference one, they got all their sports
in the ACC except football. Football is too mighty to
be in the ACC. That's why they're sitting at home
this year.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Well, you know now they're talking about that this man
put a strain on their relationship for the future, so
they might get up and gather up their toys and leave,
you know, audios, right.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
They just you know, they're taking a basketball and they're
going home. I mean, you know, cause they don't they
don't like the way things are going. That's yes, sir,
excuse me. I really hate to see that. I hate
to see that for the kids. And see, i's not
to me. It's not just the players, it's the other
people involved. To see everybody when when they when they

(12:43):
thought everybody at know the Dame, thought that they would
be postseason play now not necessarily in the college football playoffs,
but they expected to go to a bowl game. So
now you're senior football players, your senior cheerleaders. You see
everybody that was affiliated the dances, all those people they're

(13:04):
affiliated with, Notre Dame football, they got that taken away
from them.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Yes, sir, Yes, yes sir.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
They allowed their egos to get in their way.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Well, they were going to be scared to play against
BYU in a bowl game, and they could have proved
their I guess deserving this and dies by pounding them.
But they, like you said, they pouding went home and
I say, don't let the door Kno, I've hit you
with a good lords bitcher. And if you could take
on and gone down the road, well, coach, I say,
I heard you say you're all swack in all swacked.

(13:37):
Do you dare to give us a final score? As
to get ready to wrap this segment up, sir, Well,
I got I.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
Got PV winning the game twenty eight to twenty one.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Twenty.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
One, okay, I can tell I can take that. I
really think it's going to be more like twenty four
to twenty one. Okay, that's how close I think this
game is going to be. But of course, the Mighty
Panthers and if it makes any difference or note word,
I'm gonna put it out there if you.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Can, TV Coach Ad Coach Jackson.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
Coach gall put them boards back in that ice white, well,
that ice white from top to bottom.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
It's a beautiful sight to see, you know.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
But either way it doesn't matter as long as they're
standing champs at the end. Coach, you got any last
thoughts in commerce server before we get out of here, right?

Speaker 3 (14:32):
Well? Yes, once again. Now, I want to congratulate all
the TV nations. I want to congratulate Coach Jackson. He
has done a phenomenal job in his first year and
I am pulling for TV all the way in his
celebration bowl. And then I want to at the same time,
I want to commend you for the job that you're

(14:54):
doing by keep getting the word out, and I want
you to stay committed, stay strong, stay on your assignment, sir,
and keep the ball rolling.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
Well, thank you, sir. We're gonna keep the ball rolling
as long as we can while we can. With that
being said, I'm the radio guy, doctor Mike Prist. Thank
you guys so much for joining in on this specialist
episode of The Locker Room. And until the next time
you guys, be blessed and we'll see you on the

(15:25):
other side.
