Speaker 1 (00:02):
And welcome back to another episode of Yeah, I said,
being Jack and Mike. I guess being got lost somewhere
in the at L is still Brother White here with me,
Brother White, Are you recovered yet, sir.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
I'm still in recovery mode. But I'm still proud of
our mighty Panthers. But I'm still recovering.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Yeah, brother, this one, this one, this one is at
ate so bad, ache so hard, and it appears that
it might ache so long.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Where do we begin, Brother White? Good question?

Speaker 2 (00:46):
I mean, uh, I guess we start off with the
first half.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
First half.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
We come out like Gangbusters looking good. I mean the
only the only minus mark in the first half is
the the miss chip shot field goal and so could
have easily been up twenty four zero going in halftime. So,
m that's superb first half. That's I think that's where

(01:15):
we start, what you think.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
In full control, a surprise to many who were watching
the defense, like I said on on point, doing what
needs to be done, executing flowing.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Rhythm control, and you go like okay.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
The halftime comes, you go like okay, man, this is
gonna probably be finishing touch of a good day. Then
you have the third quarter from hell, exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
A lot.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
To say about the third quarter, because the third quarter,
in my honest opinion, before the game was lost. I
know it went to overtime, but so many things that
could have gone wrong appear to have gone wrong in
that third quarter. I'm still kind of mystified on the

(02:24):
trick play when there was no need for the trick
play and you're in full control, but it seemed like
that was the oxygen that kind of started revitalizing the Bulldogs.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
I agree with you, Yeah, a trick play is usually
when you're down, you're trying to get a little you know,
momentum or something going, not the.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Other way around. You get that.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Another play that's looming out to me extremely large. There
was an apparent fumble that the Panthers recovered. The players
are asking for a challenge, but no one from the
coaching staff initiates the challenge, which obviously, if challenged, would.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Have gone in the Panther savor.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
That that's another critical blow because you steal yet feeling
the momentum beginning to change, but it was another way
to kind of slow things down and take back control.
Exactly you're going back.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
I didn't expect a shutout right.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
But anytime you can keep you know, keep your opponent down,
keep them down legally, right. And so you you turn around,
if you if you went to a restaurant break and
you come back, it's twenty one twenty one, You're like,
what did I miss?

Speaker 3 (04:02):
What happened? You know?

Speaker 1 (04:04):
It all happened so fast, so fast, right, you know,
and it was like, yeah, you get the big eighty
eight yard play to do. Okay, okay, now we're getting
things back in the groove. But here's something that people
are failing to realize. Not counting over time. The defense

(04:24):
gave up thirty five points in the second half. That's
unheard of, right if I dare say, it's inexcusable. Right now,

(04:45):
the same people that were working on perfection in the
first half, did we have invasion of the body snatches?
I know I'm trying to make light of it to
keep from crying, but can you explain that that's true?

Speaker 2 (05:07):
I mean, I had told my brother when we're watching
the game that a, you know, I know, it's twenty
one zero, but we had to play our mighty Panthers
had to play.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Like there, like it's zero zero or.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
We're down, or we're down, you know, twenty one to zero.
So as soon as I said that, you know, the
next play we got we got the stumbles.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
So yeah, so it was your fault. Yeah. Hey, I'm
trying to figure out.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
I'm like, okay, brother, what so I'm glad, Okay, we
might have to put you in the witness protection program now.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
But so you're the reason that that happened. Now, I
was putting in the atmosphere that we should play. Was
putting that in the atmosphere. Man, that's what you did.
Put that Jenkins in the atmosphere, come playing like a
zero zero. See that's they didn't They didn't hear me.
That's the problem. They didn't hear it. Yeah. Yeah, I'm

(06:08):
going like, what no, no.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
But but you know what, it's still early you being
you know, okay, you know what, that's only one play.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
That's only one test. Yea, that's you know, that's only
one play.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
But there are so many things that were critical. Okay,
another one that's standing out. It's fourth and fifteen.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Man, mm hmm, well before we get there, before we
before we well the backup quarterback, brother White.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
It's under two minutes left in the game. Man, we
couldn't even get a first down to finish this thing off.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
True, very true.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
And the fourth and fifteen I thought I was watching
the stillers, right, I mean, okay, third and long, well, okay, okay, they.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Gave it up right here. I'm like, come on, man,
we got we got jack Jack. If I would drink
or man, I'd still be drunk.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Right now, buddy, right, I still And I've been asking
people this. I'm gonna ask you this, man, do you
feel that we may have been out coached in this game?

Speaker 2 (07:30):
I mean, we brought up with five different things in
the game where you know, it's pretty much a coaching
a coaching thing. You know, we brought up the trick
play when we're up twenty one zero, we mentioned that,
not challenging the fumble. Yeah, fourth and fifteen, I mean,

(07:56):
I mean, you gotta put some of the blame on
the coaching.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
You have to.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Ooh boy, this was this was a this was a
hard and here's the thing.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Here's the thing.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
No disrespect to South Carolina State, South Carolina State or
the HBCU football champions they are because they end up
winning four to thirty.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
They were not the better team. Man, I agree with
you there.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
They were not the better team, and I think that's
what's more heartache for me, at least if.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
They were that much better than we were.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Okay, hey man, the better team were the better team
did not win. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Maybe I'm sounding
like a fan right now, but oh what a disappointment.
What a disappointment. And it doesn't remove the fact we're
the swack champs. We're the Swack champs. But to lose this.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
Way almost almost.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
I'm saying it very loosely, makes that other one. You know,
what's the point of that. We didn't get the whole archilada.
But I will take it because come twenty twenty six,
when they make the pics on the third week of July,
you know we're going to come in there standing as
defending champion. And whether they want to acknowledge it or not,

(09:23):
Buroll to the celebration comes through two nineties at Prairie Views. Yes, sir,
but as we witness this and focus on this right now,
this was tough, man.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
Yeah, it is, it is.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
And I just saw a note from coach Jackson mentioning
that you know, he's proud, proud of as the team
and it's it's looking forward to his thirty seniors returning,
you know, thirty thirty players of returning. Okay, so yeah,
so's there's a lot of optimism.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Well, a lot of optimism. But let's be real about
this thing.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Man.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
This was lightning in a bottle this year, and to
expect this, yeah, the expectation bar.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
Is definitely higher now.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
But this is not an easy road to travel, right,
this is not an easy road to travel.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
Let's be honest.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Southern Grambling exceptually down years of them. Okay, you could
say the same for all Corn Texas. Southern had a
vast improvement. That's just coming from the west side, and
you know, no telling what's going to be reloaded from

(10:45):
the east.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Not that I'm not liking to odds.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
You got thirty seniors coming back, and hopefully you can
retain all of them, if not most of them, to
continue this run. But man, oh man, you can't take
these opportunities for granted.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
You're right, you know you can't take them for granted.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Uh, you got some numbers, man, on how this thing
unfolded with this celebration bowl.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Yeah, as far as team stats, you know, total yards,
our mighty Panthers. You know how we put up five
hundred and against Jack and State. Right, we had four
hundred and ninety one total yards, right, compared to their
three hundred and fifty seven total and four thirty six,

(11:41):
So that for ninety one is passing. So we were
slinging the ball.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
And congratulations to mister Peters were setting Celebration Bowl record
with the most passing yards in Celebration Bowl.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Here'tory accountable for five touchdowns? Man?

Speaker 2 (11:58):
Yeah, exactly exactly five touch five touchdowns and we lost
and we lost.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
Go ahead, I'm go ahead, y, I'm su uh.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
You know South Carolina State they had two hundred and
seventy nine yards passing one interception throne on the ground,
we had fifty five yards rushing to their seventy eight
yards rushing.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
Paul's right there, brother wife. Yes, sir, yes sir, that
was the silver bullet. It was. It was one of
one of our key strongholds. Is running the toting the ball, Yes, sir, yes, sir.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
Is that because even we're going back to that that
fourth quarter with under two minutes remaining, Uh, if you
if you can get caught for first down, right, So
Carolina State is in no position to have that fourth
and fifteenth play to send it in overtime. You know,

(13:06):
it's so many deals way before, and I know the
big controversy is the two point conversion.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
Oh well, we should have never even got to that point.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
Yes, you're right, that's I didn't want to bring it up,
but like you said, we shouldn't even got to that point, right.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
Right, Well, what are crestlum status? Yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
You're giving me this slow burn reliving all this stuff.
Go ahead, man, right, they finished something here up?

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Yeah, little little not trying to put this out on
the wound.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
Or yeah, oh my goodness.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
On the penalties, we just had five penalties for a
total of fifty three yards. Uh huh yeah, not too bad,
especially for a championship game.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
They had.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
South Carolina State had seven penalties for sixty five yards.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
M hm. So we did not win the time of
possession battle.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
We had the ball twenty five minutes forty five seconds.
They had it for thirty four minutes, fifteen seconds. So
I don't know if that's like you said, we have
you know, four hundred and ninety one yards a total.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Well, we know people always talk about time possession matters
and doesn't matter, but it does matter because once again,
it puts infortus on that run game. If your run
game is on, you chew up more clock.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Is that and it.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
Makes a big difference, especially to come crunch time. So
that was a key factor we identified that has been
one of the contributing factors for success.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
Because, if I'm not mistaken.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
Pery of you came in with thirty one minutes and
fifty nine seconds of time of possession and South Carolina
State came in with thirty two minutes and one second
of time possession. So to have that much of a
gap in time of possession ends up allowing them to
hang around a little bit longer than what you would
have normally wanted them to exactly exactly.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
Oh boy, unbelievable, unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
When you look at this, brother, you got some more
statumental That was that was that?

Speaker 3 (15:21):
Yeah? That that That pretty much sums it up. Yeah,
what kind of letter grade do you give for this? Man?
It's tough. It's tough.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
I mean, I want to get them a be something,
but I gotta I gotta say a C. Plus, I
mean it's still nagging, nagging to me. The two chip
shot field goals, well I call them chip shot field goals.
But and the fumble. I mean, just so many things.
So I definitely got to say, uh, you know, the

(15:53):
first half was definitely a great letter grade. For the
second half, uh, lord is down to a C plus.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
I gave a B plus. Then I'll just leave it
at that. I gave him a B plus. Yeah. Man,
It's almost like it's like you go to to get.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Something that's anticipating sweet and you kind of is bitter
and sour, and you're like, I didn't I didn't ask.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
For this, you know. I'm like, I don't even know
how to put it. Man.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
It's like I just want to go, Ah, somebody wake
me up from this nightmare?

Speaker 3 (16:34):
Man, what is going on? Right a way it's going on?

Speaker 1 (16:39):
So I don't I don't know, Jack, And then uh,
I got report. I don't know if you even have
it in front of you.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
The attendance wasn't one of the.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
Greatest attendants of all time, And I know people don't
like to talk about it, and you know, there are
a lot of moving parts on why it was, what
it still is, what it is I think I said
twenty six thousand seven hundred and three in attendance.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, And I don't know what ranks.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
I know we went over the numbers because look, you
said thirty seven thousand, I said forty.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
Well we missed that by a mile.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Yeah we did, we did. I just knew we would
definitely crack the thirty k, at least thirty k. And
I think I heard a flint preliminary attendance of like
twenty nine thousand and something, but it seemed like the
final number, like you said, was twenty six thousand, seven
hundred and three. Uh huh, that's second, that's second lowest.

(17:42):
In twenty seventeen, the attendance was twenty five, eight hundred
and seventy three. So we're not the lowest, but we're
not anywhere close to the highest.

Speaker 3 (17:55):
But I will give it this though.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
As far as excitement at the end, yes, sir, it's
got to be one of the classic.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
I was. It's an instant classic.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
Look not at I not at our leisure, but you know,
but man, I mean an exciting sentence.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
It's everything that you want for a Bowl game.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
Yeah, I mean, it's more more exciting than remember the Titans,
you know.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
But oh my goodness, brother Wright, I can't, I can't,
I can't. Oh oh, I keep thinking of the old
old song from the color Purple. You can't sleep at night, right,
and you wonder why? Maybe God trying to tell you something.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Man, Run the ball, That's what he's trying to tell her.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
Run the ball, right, you know, challenge to play you something.
But you know, hey, man, it's still like I stated,
it doesn't take away to a fantastic run for twenty
twenty five. Uh, hopefully the Panthers can lock and reload
and then so we're just running back again jack and

(19:08):
go from there. Man, how do you get your final
assessment on everything that you witnessed the year, the.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
The new era and the future. Yeah, I mean.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
I say as a team, you know, the coach Jackson,
they exceeded expectations. Definitely exceeded expectations. You know, we were
always uh weary and challenging the Panthers too, you know,
get past the glass ceiling, which was the Swack Championship.

(19:52):
So we cracked that glass ceiling and that was the
you know, the benchmark was you know, getting there and
then uh, like we said, you know, previous coaches got
us there. But we didn't get cracked cracked through that
last season, and we wanted that this season.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
Right.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
I remember when I first stated when we were doing
our assessments of what was the expectation what what I
call a successful season, right? And I said winning the
Swack Championship, Right, And I said, of course you want
to win the Celebration Bowl, But winning the Swack Championship

(20:34):
would be considered a successful season in my opinion because
we had been there before we got there.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
We're at Dooney, we got there with Bubba.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
So the fact that Coach Jackson brought home the Swack
Championship makes this a successful season.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
But you know, they say the more you get, the
more you want.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
When you want, you know, and you're like, oh man,
we had this thing shine in her hand Hill and
live rather white and with that dog on Grench showed
up and stole our championship.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
Man, yeah, that's true. That's true. My goodness.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
You know, we had to use it as a stepping
stone and that yeah.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Man, yeah, we're gonna have to be like old Bomb
Shillips with the Houston on the next year. We're just
gonna kick the song gone down. You know, you just
got oh my god, man, Ray, Yeah, you know, I
was telling somebody I'm glad I live in a ranch
country style home because if i'd have jumped out the window,

(21:46):
I wouldn't have hurt myself as bad.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
You know, I wouldn't have won no second or third floor.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
Well, man, make you want to old marbles and make
you want to holler, throw up both your hands, man,
throw up both your hands us. But a job well done, peevy. Yes,
you know, it is what it is. Brother, I don't
even know what to say. Man, I'm like, I'm a mind.

(22:14):
Have seen from life where Eddie Murphy and them were
in the nursing home and the old guy shitting out
with his gown over.

Speaker 3 (22:22):
Man, nobody want to see all that?

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Yeah, I don't want to see all that, brother, Like man, Ray, oh,
I don't want no put in right now, man, after
what I just seen, you don't want to see all that.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
I want to see all that for the celebration.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
Boat right right, Oh my goodness, man, right, oh my
goodness as well.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
It is what it is. Man. Look, I'm gonna get
out of here.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
Man, I'm gonna get you some clothes and thoughts and comments. Man,
before we like said chapter MG.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Yes, yeah, final thoughts, I mean, mighty Canthers.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
Keep your head up, keep your head up. We're gonna
we're gonna.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
Use this celebration Bowl loss as a stepping stone and
not a stumbling block. So uh, it's considered a successful season.
Come back next year even hungrier than this season. Not
seeing that's a tall task or anything. But have the
same energy and fire that we had this season and

(23:26):
going to next season. Uh, Levy Panthers, and just just
keep on going.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
All right, brother White.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
I appreciate, man, all the efforts and the Italian and
the brainstorming that was taking place all season long. Man,
you all just don't know the things that have to
be done to put these segments together, keep everything together. Uh,

(23:55):
the research, the resources and its label of love. Man,
And we appreciate you guys listening and participating. But the
next season starts now, and next thing you know, it'll
be the media day all over again. But on the

(24:16):
old infomercial says, but wait, there's more. You got basketball
season rot to get cranked up. Soon it'll be baseball
softball season, and the hits are gonna keep on coming,
and we're gonna keep on coming. With the hits and
