The civil complaint filed by Virginia Roberts Giuffre against Prince Andrew in 2021 alleged that he sexually abused her on multiple occasions when she was 17 years old, a victim of Jeffrey Epstein’s trafficking network. The lawsuit, filed in New York under the Child Victims Act, claimed that Prince Andrew knowingly engaged in sexual acts with Giuffre despite being aware that she was being trafficked by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Giuffre alleged that the abuse occurred in Epstein’s New York townhouse, in London at Ghislaine Maxwell’s residence, and in the Virgin Islands. The complaint painted a damning picture of a royal using his status and connections to exploit a vulnerable girl, shielded by a global web of power and silence.

Prince Andrew publicly denied the allegations, claiming he had no recollection of meeting Giuffre—even though a widely circulated photo shows them together with Maxwell in the background. Rather than face a public trial and legal discovery, Andrew reached an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre in early 2022, reportedly for several million dollars, without admitting guilt. The settlement effectively ended the case but left critical questions unanswered, including whether others in Epstein’s orbit facilitated or knew of the abuse. The lawsuit against Prince Andrew marked a rare instance where someone of global stature and diplomatic immunity faced direct legal consequences tied to Epstein’s trafficking ring, though many critics saw the quiet settlement as another example of privilege avoiding accountability.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's up, everyone, and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles.
In this episode, we're going to take a look at
Virginia Roberts complaint against Prince Andrew. So let's dive right
in and let's take a look the United States District
Court for the Southern District of New York, Virginia Roberts
plaintiff versus Prince Andrew, Duke of York aka Andrew Albert

(00:23):
Christian Edward in his personal capacity. The complaint Plaintiff Virginia Roberts,
by her attorneys Boys and Schiller and Flexner, for her
complaint against defendant Prince Andrew, Duke of York aka Andrew
Albert Christian Edward, avers upon personal knowledge as to her
own acts and status, and upon information and belief, and

(00:46):
to all other matters as follows nature of the action. One.
This stude arises out of the defendant sexual abuse of
plaintiff when she was under the age of eighteen years old. Two.
During two thousand to two thousand and two, beginning when
plaintiff was sixteen, Plaintiff was the victim of sex trafficking
and abuse by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Three Epstein's

(01:09):
sex trafficking scheme involved recruiting young girls, often by claiming
they would be paid two hundred dollars for simply providing
a massage to a wealthy billionaire. This same pattern was
repeated numerous times with countless children and young women four.
As United States District Judge Kenneth Marra found from between
about nineteen ninety nine and two thousand and seven, Jeffrey

(01:31):
Epstein sexually abused more than thirty minor girls at his
mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, and elsewhere in the United
States and overseas. In addition to his own sexual abuse
of the victims, Epstein directed other persons to abuse the
girls sexually. Epstein used paid employees to find and bring
minor girls to him. Epstein worked in concert with others

(01:52):
to obtain miners not only for his own sexual gratification,
but also for the gratification of others. Opinion and Order

(02:15):
nineteen five. Like other minor children who came before and
after her, Plaintiff was initially recruited to provide massages and
thereafter to engage in a variety of sexual acts for Epstein.
Plaintiff was required to be on a call for Epstein
for sexual purposes and frequently traveled with him both nationally

(02:35):
and internationally. Plaintiff was regularly abused by Epstein and was
lent out by Epstein to other powerful men for sexual purposes. Six.
One such powerful man to whom plaintiff was lent out
for sexual purposes was the defendant, Prince Andrew, the Duke
of York. Seven. Prince Andrew was a close friend of

(02:56):
Glenn Maxwell, a British socialite who spent years overseeing and
managing Epstein's sex trafficking network and actively recruited underage girls,
including the plaintiff. Eight. According to Prince Andrew, he met
Epstein through Maxwell in nineteen ninety nine. Prince Andrew thereafter
became a frequent guest in Epstein's various homes around the world,

(03:17):
including New York City, where he sexually abused plaintiff at
Epstein and Maxwell's invitation when she was a miner. Nine.
After publicly fanning ignorance about the scope of Epstein's sex
trafficking operation and sympathy for Epstein's victims, Prince Andrew has
refused to cooperate with US authorities in their investigation and
prosecution of Epstein and his co conspirators. Ten. Prince Andrew

(03:40):
committed sexual assault and battery upon plaintiff when she was
seventeen years old. As such, Prince Andrew was responsible for
battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress pursuant to New
York common law. The damages to plaintiff have been severe
and lasting. Eleven. This action is timely and filed pursuant

(04:01):
to the Child Victims Act and YCPLR. Section two fourteen G.
The actions described herein constitute sexual offenses by the defendant
under New York Penal Law Article one thirty and were
committed against plaintiff when she was a child less than
eighteen years of age, for which he suffered physical, psychological,
and other injuries as a result. Parties twelve. Plaintiff, Virginia

(04:26):
Roberts is an individual who is a citizen of the
state of Colorado. Thirteen. Defendant Prince Andrew is a citizen
of the United Kingdom and is currently residing in the
Royal Lodge at Windsor Great Park, Berkshire, United Kingdom, where
he is domiciled. Jurisdiction and Venue fourteen. This Court has
diversity jurisdiction over this dispute pursuant to us CO twenty

(04:49):
eight Section thirteen thirty two A and two. Plaintiff is
a citizen of a state and defendant is a citizen
of a foreign state, and the amount in controversy exceeds
the sum or value of seventy five thousand, excluding interests
and costs. Fifteen Venue is proper in this court as
a substantial part of the events or omissions given rise

(05:11):
to Plaintiff's claims occurred within this district. US Code twenty eight,
Section thirteen ninety one B and two sixteen. This Court
has personal jurisdiction over the defendant, as defendant sexually abused
plaintiff in this state and thus committed a tortious action
within the state. Pursuant to New York's Long Arm Statute

(05:33):
and YCPLR. Section three zero two A two. Defendant also
visited Jeffrey Epstein in this state on numerous occasions, defendant
could reasonably anticipate that a suit based upon his acts
and omissions with respect to plaintiff could result in him
being subject to suit in this state. And this suit
arises directly out of the Defendant's acts or omissions with

(05:55):
respect to plaintiff in this state. The factual allegations a
Epstein sex trafficking enterprise seventeen. Jeffrey Epstein was widely renowned
as a billionaire who used his vast connections of his
powerful individuals and seemingly unlimited wealth and resources to create
a web of transcontinental sex trafficking that served himself, his

(06:19):
co conspirators, and some of the most powerful people in
the world. Eighteen. Glenn Maxwell is a British socialite and
the daughter of Disgrace publishing tycoon Robert Maxwell. Maxwell was
the highest ranking recruiter in Epstein's sex trafficking enterprise. Maxwell
is currently facing criminal charges in the Southern District of
New York stemming from her role in Epstein's sex trafficking enterprise,

(06:42):
and is set to face trial in the fall nineteen
Epstein had perfected his scheme for manipulation and abuse the
young females. As part of the scheme, Maxwell or another
female recruiter would approach a young girl and strike up
a conversation in an effort to quickly learn about the
girl's background any vulnerabilities they could expose. Epstein's recruiters found

(07:04):
their targets everywhere and anywhere, including schools, spas, trailer parks,
and the street. Twenty The recruiter would then manipulate the
young female into coming back to one of Epstein's residences
by offering the young girls something she needed, depending on
her situation. In many cases, the recruiter sought out girls
who wanted to be professional messuses and invited them to

(07:27):
one of Epstein's homes by offering them what appeared to
be legitimate messuse positions. Twenty one. Once in the residence,
Epstein and his co conspirators would work in concert to
impress and intimidate the young female with displays of vast
wealth and power. They would brag about their connections the
very powerful political and social figures and display photographs of

(07:49):
themselves with those figures around Epstein's homes. They would normalize
the sexual abuse by displaying photographs and art displaying nude
females and a massage table and SPA related products in
an effort to legitimize the area where the abuse was
set to occur. Twenty two. Once abused, Epstein and Maxwell

(08:09):
continue to manipulate their victims, using their financial power, promises
and threats to ensure that the victim returned as directed
and remade compliant with their demands. Epstein and his lawyers
would even gather information about the victims to use against
them if they ever disobeyed them, and his homes were
under constant surveillance twenty three. Message pads recovered during trash

(08:33):
pulls at Epstein's Palm Beach mansion reflect messages that his
staff took to relate to Epstein. They show the constant
flow of girls to Epstein, sometimes three per day. Epstein's
employees also have described young girls constantly being present at
Epstein's different homes. Epstein's constant access to young girls is
also evidenced in his Black Book, a book of phone

(08:54):
numbers in contact information listing girls to call for massages
in various cities, flight logs documenting his frequent travel with
young girls and powerful individuals on his private plane, and
troves of lewd photographs of young girls recovered from his homes.
In his black book, Epstein had at least twelve different
contact numbers listed for Prince Andrew twenty four. Plaintiff became

(09:18):
a victim of sex trafficking and repeated sexual abuse after
Maxwell recruited her into Epstein's sex trafficking operation when plaintiff
was working at the mar A Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida,
twenty five. Between two thousand and two thousand and two,
Epstein sexually abused plaintiff at numerous locations, including his mansion
in the district at ninety seventy first Street, New York,

(09:40):
New York, twenty six. Epstein also flew Plaintiff on his
plane nationally and internationally numerous times when she was under
the age of eighteen. Only portions of the flight logs
of Epstein's private planes have yet been recovered, and Epstein
also flew Plaintiff frequently on commercial airlines to meet him
and the However, the chart below, which shows Plaintiff's flights

(10:03):
on Epstein's private plane for the limited logs that are available,
illustrates the international scope of Epstein's sex trafficking. Twenty seven
in addition to being abused by Epstein himself, plaintiff was
also forced to have sex with the defendant, Prince Andrew,
the Duke of York, at Epstein and Maxwell's direction twenty eight.

(10:24):
As part of their sex trafficking efforts, Epstein and Maxwell
intimidated plaintiff into remaining silent about what had happened to
her twenty nine. After years of abuse, Epstein sent plaintiff
to Thailand. In September of two thousand and two. One
of plaintiff's assignments from Epstein was to bring a young
girl back to Epstein in the United States. Fearing for
her life and not wanting to subject another young girl

(10:47):
to the abuse she was forced to endure, plaintiff fled
from Thailand to Australia to escape Epstein. All right, we're
going to wrap up here and in the next episode
we'll pick up where we left off with defendant's relationship
with Epstein and Maxwell. All of the information that goes
with this episode can be found in the description box.
What's up, everyone, and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles.

(11:11):
In this episode, we're diving right back in to the
complaint originally made by Virginia Roberts against Prince Andrew. We're
picking right back up where we left off with Part B.

available flight logs, Prince Andrew began flying with Epstein on
his private plane as early as nineteen ninety nine, and
when he flew with Epstein and Maxwell to Epstein's private island,
Little Saint James. Prince Andrew's name also appears in other

(11:55):

travel with Epstein and Maxwell to and from other locations
including West Palm Beach, Florida, and Titoborough, New Jersey. Thirty two.
In two thousand, Epstein and Maxwell attended Prince Andrew's fortieth

Epstein being charged with procuring a minor for prostitution only
one month prior. Thirty four. Prince Andrew has himself confirmed

(12:37):

Epstein's private island, and state at Epstein's homes in Palm Beach,
Florida and New York, New York. Thirty five. Members of
Epstein's house staff have confirmed witnessing Prince Andrew visited Epstein's
numerous homes, both to the media and in sworn testimony.
See defendant Sexual abuse of plaintiff thirty six. Prince Andrew

(13:01):

age of eighteen years old thirty seven. On one occasion,
Prince Andrew sexually abused plaintiff in London at Maxwell's home.
During this encounter, Epstein, Maxwell and Prince Andrew forced plaintiff,
a child, to have sexual intercourse with Prince Andrew against
her will thirty eight. The below photograph depicts Prince Andrew,

(13:24):
plaintiff and Maxwell at Maxwell's home prior to Prince Andrew
sexually abusing plaintiff thirty nine. On other occasions, Prince Andrew
sexually abused plaintiff in Epstein's New York mansion in this district.
During this encounter, Maxwell forced plaintiff, a child and another
victim to sit on Prince Andrew's lap as Prince Andrew
touched her. During his visit to New York, Prince Andrew

(13:48):
forced plaintiff to engage in sex acts against her will.
On another occasion, Prince Andrew sexually abused plaintiff on Epstein's
private island in the US Virgin Islands, Little Saint James.
Forty one. During each of the aforementioned incidents, Plaintiff was
compelled by expressed or implied threats by Epstein, Maxwell, and

(14:09):
or Prince Andrew to engage in sexual acts with Prince Andrew,
and fear of death or physical injury to herself or
another and other repercussions for disobeying Epstein, Maxwell, and Prince
Andrew due to their powerful connections, wealth and their authority.
Forty two during each of the aforementioned incidents, Prince Andrew

of gratifying his sexual desires. Forty Seven During each of
the aforementioned incidents, Prince Andrew was acting in his individual

(15:17):
personal capacity and was not performing any duty relating to
his former role as Trade Envoy, any duty relating to
his role as a member of the Royal Family of
the United Kingdom, or any other official or diplomatic function.
Forty Eight Defendants sexual assault and battery of plaintiff have
caused her and continue to cause her a significant emotional

(15:37):
and psychological distress and harm. D The arrest, prosecution, and
death of Epstein and Prince Andrew's refusal to cooperate with
authorities forty nine. In two thousand and eight, Epstein pled
guilty in Florida to the charge of procuring a minor
for prostitution fifty In twenty ten, after Epstein had served

(15:58):
a sentence and registered as a sex offender, Prince Andrew
was photographed with Epstein in Central Park and State at
Epstein's New York City mansion fifty one. Epstein flippantly referred
to a sexual abuse of multiple miners and the slap
on the wrist he received for it. In twenty eleven,
in an interview with The New York Post, billionaire pervert

(16:19):
Jeffrey Epstein is back in New York City and making
wise cracks about his just ended jelstint for having sex
with an underage girl. I'm not a sexual predator. I'm
an offender, the financier told the Post yesterday. It's the
difference between a murderer and a person who steals a bagel,
said Epstein cee Amber Sutherland. Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, I'm a

(16:39):
sex offender, not a predator fifty two. Around the same time,
Prince Andrew began to face criticism over his well publicized
friendship with Epstein fifty three. In the early twenty fifteen,
after plaintiff had publicly accused Prince Andrew of sexually abusing her.
Prince Andrew emailed Maxwell, stating, let me know when we

(17:02):
can talk. Got some specific questions to ask you about
Virginia Roberts fifty four. On July second, twenty nineteen, the
US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York
charged Epstein with sex trafficking, conspiracy, and sex trafficking and
violation of US Code eighteen, Section fifteen ninety one fifty five.

(17:22):
Epstein was arrested on July eighth, twenty nineteen, pursuing to
a seal to count indictment fifty six. Epstein was found
dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center on
August tenth, twenty nineteen fifty seven. Just one year before
his death, Epstein told a New York Times reporter that
criminalizing sex with teenage girls was a cultural aberration and

(17:45):
that at times in history it was perfectly acceptable. James B.
Stewart the day Jeffrey Epstein told me he had dirt
on powerful people fifty eight. After Epstein's second arrest in death,
numerous of his co conspirators and the wealth. The individuals
to whom he trafficked girls, including Prince Andrew, began to
face increased public scrutiny for having close ties to a

(18:07):
convicted sex offender fifty nine. In November of twenty nineteen,
in response to this renewed scrutiny, Prince Andrew sat for
an interview with BBC Newsnight. Prince Andrew stated that he
did not regret his friendship with Epstein and that he
had no recollection of meeting plaintiff, despite photographic evidence to
the contrary. Sixty Prince Andrew publicly pledged, including in a

(18:30):
statement stepping down from his public duties in the Newsnight interview,
to assist the US authorities with their criminal investigation of
Epstein and his co conspirators. Of course, I am willing
to help any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations
if required, he said sixty one. Despite this public pledge,

(18:51):
Prince Andrew has refused to cooperate with US authorities. Former
SDNY US attorney Jeffrey Berman stated that Prince Andrew had
provided zero cooperation despite US prosecutors and the FBI contacting
Prince Andrew's council. Prince Andrew gives zero cooperation over Epstein inquiry.
US prosecutor says, and this is from a BBC article

(19:15):
that's linked here in the paperwork sixty two. Prince Andrew
and his council have also refused to cooperate with Counsel
for the Victims of Epstein Sex Trafficking. Council for the
Victim of Epstein Sex Trafficking, including Counsel for Plaintiff, have
repeatedly asked for a meeting or telephone call with Prince
Andrew and or his representatives to enable Prince Andrew to

(19:37):
provide whatever facts, context or explanation he might have, and
to explore alternative dispute resolution approaches. Prince Andrew and his
representatives have rejected all such requests and responded by escalating
their vile and baseless attacks on plaintiff and others. Sixty three.
On July nineteenth, twenty twenty one, Council for Planting proposed

(20:00):
a tolling agreement that would have enabled plaintiff not to
sue Prince Andrew at this time, while avoiding any argument
that her failure to do so caused her claims to
be time barred again. Prince Andrew stonewalled, ignoring Plaintiff's letter
and emails without any reply or response, thereby making this
action necessary now. A copy of the July twenty twenty

(20:22):
one letter proposing a tolling agreement is attached as exhibit
A to this complaint sixty four. In this country, no person,
whether President or prince, is above the law, and no person,
no matter how powerless or vulnerable, can be deprived of
the law's protection. Twenty years ago, Prince Andrew's wealth, power,

(20:43):
position and connections enabled him to abuse a frightened, vulnerable
child with no one there to protect her. It's long
past time for him to be held to account. The
first cause of action battery sixty five. Plaintiff repeats and
realleges the allegationations stated above as if fully set forth
here In sixty six, Prince Andrew intentionally committed battery by

(21:08):
sexually assaulting plaintiff when she was a minor. As described above,
on multiple occasions, Prince Andrew intentionally touched plaintiff in an
offensive and sexual manner without her consent. Sixty seven. Prince
Andrew's actions constitute sexual offenses as defined in New York
Penal Law Article one thirty including but not limited to,

(21:29):
sexual misconduct as defined an article one thirty dot twenty.
Rape in the third degree has defined an article one
thirty dot twenty five. Rape in the first degree has
defined an article one thirty dot thirty five. Forcible touching
has defined an article one thirty dot fifty two, sexual
abuse in the third degree as defined an article one

(21:50):
thirty dot fifty five, and sexual abuse in the first
degree as defined an article one thirty dot sixty five
see NYCPLR Section two fourteen G sixty eight. As a
direct and proximate result of Prince Andrew's criminal acts, Plaintiff
as in the past and will in the future, continue

(22:10):
to suffer substantial damages, including extreme emotional distress, humiliation, fear,
psychological trauma, loss of dignity and loss of self esteem,
and invasion of her privacy. Second cause of action sixty
nine intentional infliction of emotional distress. Plaintiff repeats and re
alleges the allegation stated above as if fully set forth

(22:33):
here in seventy. As a direct result of these allegations,
is stated Prince Andrew committed intentional infliction of emotional distress
against plaintiff seventy one, Prince Andrew's actions described above constitute
extreme and outrageous conduct that shocks the conscience. Prince Andrew's
sexual abuse of a child who he knew was a

(22:54):
sex trafficking victim when he was approximately forty years of
age goes beyond all possible bounds of decency and as
intolerable in a civilized community. Seventy two. Prince Andrew knew
or disregarded the substantial likelihood that these actions would cause
plaintiffs severe emotional distress. Seventy three. As a direct and

(23:16):
proximate result of Prince Andrew's criminal acts, Plaintiff has in
the past and will in the future continue to suffer
substantial damages, including extreme emotional distress, humiliation, fear, psychological trauma,
loss of dignity and self esteem, and invasion of her privacy.
Prayer for relief. Wherefore, Plaintiff respectfully requests judgment against defendant,

(23:39):
awarding compensatory, consequential, exemplary, and punitive damages in an amount
to be determined at trial, costs of suit, attorney's fees,
and such other and further relief as the Court may
deem just and proper jury demand plaintiff hereby demands a
trial by jury on all causes of action asserted with

(24:00):
in this pleading. And this was dated August ninth, twenty
twenty one, and it was signed by David Boys. All right.
So that's the original complaint that was filed by Virginia
Roberts against Prince Andrew that led to the settlement. And
of course now Prince Andrew has buyer's remorse and says
he never should have settled with Virginia Roberts. But that's

(24:21):
why we go through these court documents so that you
can see for yourself what happened in the courtroom. You
don't need me to tell you. You don't need a journalist
to tell you. It's all right here in these court documents.
And the good news is there's plenty more to come.
All right, folks, that's gonna do it for this one.
