Speaker 1 (00:01):
Right can we do? And the only thing with autodya
is you cannot increase dmouth or.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Change to do this. So you see them manantana every seven.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Oh thank you, Okay, we got it now. I don't.
I don't think these people realize I'm doing a live
radio program. And then we are said, well too, it's
our turn. It's our turn. It's not the Mother Doves
coming at you live and the Living color or welcome
to the program. I know you recognize this face. I mean,
(00:31):
I'm telling you I've been knowing her since I knew
about her work and love what she does. This is
the lovely Kate Linder. She is one of the rock
stars on the legendary Young and the Restless on CBS.
And then I just give him a big giant flood. Okay, hey, Kate,
welcome to the program. What you been doing.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
I'm so glad to see you.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
It is good to see you. And I know I'm talking.
She probably got a picture day in gray and her
basically because you have not changed one day. I love
your hairstyle to wow. So listen, you always brought fire
to that program. I mean you were like our best
of levity and and what was so cool about her.
She was always and she is always authentic. She's always authenticic.
(01:14):
You know, you can go right in, you know. And
I love when you call miss C mississ C. You know.
That was really cool. I missed her well now her
when they kicked me off the rail, when they kicked
me off the radio, she said she was coming down
with a protest group. I'm like, please, j you don't
do that. But she was serious. She was serious. So
tell us let us get caught up on pate Linda.
(01:35):
What have you been doing these paths with and how
did you you well, you share farewell during the pandemic?
What was your take on that? And how did you
move Manouvera through that?
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Well? Number one, I'm thankoinous. I'm still on the young
and the rest over forty years in county, so that's
really well.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Why why don't you just date me?
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Why don't you why dy myself?
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (02:00):
There you go?
Speaker 1 (02:02):
So what was it like? What did you have to
hold business for the part?
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Because it's interesting because at that time Tom Palmer was
a captains and I'd gone in and and left him.
I met him and left the tape of some of
my work and then I went home and thought, oh,
this is never going to happen. And then his assistant
(02:28):
called me, Louis Jill Newton at the time, and she said, oh,
Tom's finished with your cape and I said already and
she said, yeah. It's weird because he usually doesn't do this.
But after you left, he went right in and looked
at it. And I said, oh, okay. Well, I said yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Because I didn't live really.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Close there, so I said, I'll be down in a
couple of days. He said, okay, fine. A few days
later he called me. He said, I have this part.
He said, it is really really really small. If you
blame he said, just a miss it.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
He said, I but I'm.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Looking for something else for you on the show. And
usually you know that doesn't happen because once you do
a small thing like that, that's it. But he said, no, no,
I'm I'm I can do it.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
I'm looking for.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Something else to you. So I said, okay, I will
do it. Do that. And that was over forty two
years ago, and I, you know, just so I'm just
so grateful and so honored and that I'm there, you know.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
We personally, I still to this day, I watched it
I'm a faithful, devoted person because you know, sometimes I
can say this sometimes they just had the craziest storyline.
I'm like, really, you got a black man pretending to
be white and it went over.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
A long time ago. I remember that one was remember
put to the woodship where he was like a really
bad a.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Right, I said, well, I guess he won't be revisited,
you know. And I have always been a loyal devoter
fan ever since the beginning of the show. And I mean,
it's listen, you guys are almost well you are record
making because he's still on the air. All of them
just kind of like staded around you. And even the
(04:22):
ones that we thought were good. Now before you got
this part, were you inst the soap person at all?
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Well, yeah, but you know it was interesting because my
mom had, you know, watched him and arrestles from day one,
and so when I when I got this role, she
was of course was thrilled. And then and then of
course she told me in she could tell me everything
because I did not know. And so that was you know, showy, sabulous.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
And you guys put great storylines. I mean, you had
an arc when your daughter finally go'n look, she took
what she changed her name to Chloe, And people were
always trying to connect the dots and I would don't
try to connect the doze, just watching for pure enjoyment
because you're gonna sit there and go. And then we
talked to the TV. You know, I talked to you
when you're on camera, I just let you know. I'd
(05:11):
be like, let her have it cast and just let
her habit. And you are your character, and you and
Jimmie Cooper, you guys are like magical liking y'all. It
really was. It was really something. And and you know
sometimes the story people go off the rail or that
come in the new writers and they want to recap,
they want to change everything. How were you able to
keep as the Valentine online and relevant for so long?
(05:35):
What's your key to longevity, especially in this business?
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Well, number one, you know, we have incredible writers, so
but number two, you know, I think people can relate
to esther because she's you know, she's not wearing the
jewels and the gowns and all that kind of thing.
And she she would, you know, every day person with
(06:01):
everyday problems, like you know, a daughter that you know
she was a single mother. Uh, you know, things that
people could relate. And so that's and I think that
also es to provides which I'm really grateful for. You know,
she can make you smile and you know, laugh, and
you know we all need laughter, we all need commonly up.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
And especially in this climate, especially in this climate, we
have got to step up and show that we're not
gonna take a bunch of craps. You know, that's what
you want to do, okay, because you know that I
know the writer's gonna write this in it some kind
of way because you know, you guys, and I think
I've been well, I know I've been watching it because
I'm so nosy and I want to see what's gonna
happen and where she's gonna go. And you know what
(06:50):
about the arct the one thing in the Agua Loved life.
So what's that like kissing on a man that's like
at their husband.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
Well, Esa doesn't really get to do that, right now, No,
she didn't.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
You were her character was buttoned down.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
This didn't no say so you never know, you know,
actually didn't usually.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
You know, uh get to do that.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
So I bet it would have been fun. But I'm
glad they didn't make you crazy bringing back from the dead,
you know how they'll do it. That's a good thing, right.
And now with all the stuff that's going on on
the show and all the people that were out of
work that you know that work on the industry, you
know something, most of them came back, Most of us
(07:35):
came back. A lot of people didn't. And you know,
we all went do the same thing. We were all
on that sinking boat together and speaking them together, you
and your cast members. It doesn't get better. Every doesn't
get better day by day, you know. And you guys
get comfortable with one another.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Sure, we're family.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
You know.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
We spent you know, more time with each other than
your own family easily. And so I'm just very honored
and likes to be working with these amazing talented people.
And I blund every single minute of that.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Oh you have to, I'm telling you. I remember people
think he wasn't uh, he was already at the base
of the story, Victor Newman, h huh, okay, everybody thought
that he was a you know, I'm like, honestly, I've
been watching Victor Newman since he's been a villain. When
he had his wife changed up in the basement to
a radiator see, and I was like, why why is
(08:35):
he so cruel like that? And he was running with
it and I still see him in rat Patrol. Did
you know he came.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Yeah, he's an incredible actress.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
He really is. You know, all of you are incredible actress,
even the ones that just they seem like they write
him in, give more art and then they're gone, you know.
And and a lot of times we were just like
hanging okay, well, like what happened to? This is what
I mean, it's all across the board.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
People.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
If you have never seen this program, you gotta watch
it for the shared history of it all. Because you
guys top up, I mean, took on a lot of
very difficult, uh storylines that look like you just said
that people can relate to, you know, and we and no,
you got gussied up a couple of times on the show,
(09:23):
you know not. And that was so good too, because
every day people can see, oh I can get one
day pretty like that, and it was it was a
It was a good thing because we could watch you
and we could watch ourselves. And I wanted to say,
as a fan, thank you, thank you for the love.
It's at the INN program there on your tripping. I'm
just thanking you and giving sending you your roses now
(09:44):
because you have been very entertaining and as a person
like we see each other, we see each other at
a lot of and this you say, you know Pep Linda,
I'm like, what did that to do with the person? Means?
I can't no kid, you do fighty to watch stories there?
Everybody thinks that and all the Black America fact, I
(10:06):
know all the black people in Hollywood. I'm like, yeah,
I'm right you you could give me a date? We
WILLI smith, can't you? O? Mother? I'm like, you know
what is wrong with you? They think I know everybody?
And then when the soap oppers came out, I think
we met at a launch party. I think for the
bolting them and I would be for that because I
was going to radio on the other radio station. Right.
So so when you're there, what motive because I'm saying
(10:30):
where is my money is is? I would always say
I pay for it. I don't want to do it
for so much. General, Claire, what motivates you? That's what
the money asked? The longevity of Estra you know, and
you just expect her to be there. I always expected
Genie Cooper to be there all the time, and then
when she wasn't.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
You know why our show is the number one show
because when people to the end, they want to see
the characters that they've grown up with or that they've
been watching for a long time. And we really don't
have a revolving your policy. I mean, when you two in,
you're gonna see the you know most like, you're gonna
(11:10):
see the person that you expect to see, the to
be expected, and and I think that's what you know
keep helps keep our show number one. Also that we
deal with real life situations and not crazy you know storyline.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Oh no, y'all are the crazy storyline that I'm like, okay,
what and then they just disappeared. Oh still come in
as a kid. You might see him up to the
age of eight, and then you don't see the kid anymore.
And by then they get back from boarding school and
the US I'm gonna really and they come back, they
(11:47):
see that's why they're young. And the Rusty's got to
keep the young people coming in and the new faces
that I see on there. Uh, I'm trying to still
just I'm really kind of, you know, upset about some
of the storylines, you know, like Nick and Chance splitting up.
I don't even know why you do stupid stuff like
that they gonna be together, you know, and then everybody's
all happy, you know with this story and they've been
(12:08):
a storyline that go ahead.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
I'm sorry, you have to have drama, you know, Oh
you got to have something.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
Sharren't talking to the dead guy. It's just, you know,
I'm like, real, come on now, Athlete is back from
the looneymit, shut off my luve. Anthlete is back from
her her vacation, you know, to get herself together, and
because it is so demanding talk to us. But because
I've heard that sometimes you have to memorize thirty pages
(12:39):
of dialogue. And I'm like, I what I'm just I mean,
And the second I don't know if I want you cheating,
but I know what y'all doing. I know how y'all
keep that up her the lock that you're easily entertain
sixty to eighty pages.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
A day, and our show, these people come realize, like
at nighttime, show will take an hour. An hour show
will take a week to choose one hour me to
an hour show a day and we do sixty eight
pages day and you get one take, So you better
be on your gaming. Bt er know you're lying. I mean,
(13:18):
if they have to do it over, I don't want
to see because of me.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Okay, Oh and I told you get that. People don't
understand how time consuming make that. You've got to read
all these member onis, all of these you know, and
look naturals are doing it. And so I'm like, I
wonder if they said no, no, I don't want to
wonder about that card. So what what's your take on
(13:43):
artificial intelligence? And do you see that creeping into the
soap opera business?
Speaker 2 (13:49):
Well, you know our writers are writing in they're nice
to see the artificial Jillson, So I just you know,
I mean it's here to say you know that shouldn't sell. Yeah,
when you just have to deal with this and the
best way we can, and the unions are dealing without
and we.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Just keep going because what else do we do? I mean,
what else can you do but put one foot in
front of the other and keep it moving. So let's
talk about Kate Linder, the little girl. She's like seven
or eight years old, cause you know, we are smarter
than guys. By the time we are five years old,
they like thirty and we can all think them shut up.
I'm just saying. And you know me, I I have
(14:30):
to brighten my tongue and sometimes God just take my
tongue to pull out and put it out in it.
One time I had two knots in it.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Know that.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
You know, and when you get to be this age,
you don't want to be able to do what you
wanna do and do what you need to do. You know,
they look at the elderly as our I call them seasons.
We got the season of flavor. And you know, we
all have a shelf life. If you want to tell
me about you going and where did you come from?
You got brothers and sisters, got a man? What do
you do?
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Oh? Well, you know, I I grew up I'm a
native of California native. I grew up here and and
so I have a brother who who lived in Dallas.
And unfortunately, you know, my husband passed away and and
(15:20):
my mother recently passed away.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
So you know, but you just like you said, we
just keep.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
Moving forward and when one step at a time. I'm
actually doing this art show to.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Bring up the art shows.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
Because this is really great because my mom was an
incredible artist, and I don't think she realized how amazing
he was. And I found so many of her artworks,
so much of her artwork and sculptures and praying anywhere.
We're having me it's in honor of her hundredth birthday,
(16:02):
because she would have been one hundreds on the twentieth
of this month, and so we are having uh, this
is going to be in conjuction with ALS. So it
goes to the six on November twenty.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
Third, and.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
You know, it's free to come in and oh, that's
my favorite word. And we you know, some food and
drinks and and then anything any of the art that
has purchased the money goes to ALS networks. I am
celebrities pokes versus words. So I'm just honored. And and
(16:42):
she's donated to them, you know, all the time. So
she's continuing to donate.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
To them, and that makes me really happy.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
I heard this, uh, this phrase, and I had never
heard it before, which is to my surprise. That guy
says some of us only die once, and other people
get you know, they don't they won't they the other
people won't get that, but he he was saying that
(17:13):
people die, and you could die one death and die
a second death when people don't remember you and there's
nobody that can, you know, not necessarily validate your your
presence here, but pretty much to validate that you you
came here with nothing and you're leaving something good. They're
ugly and different and to be able to to maneuver
(17:36):
through this this society, we really got to understand that
we are in this together. We got to do this together. Now,
what part into the a LSU platform? So y'all we
all don't know it's the lou Garrett's disease. You know,
I'm with him. I wouldn't want a disease name after me,
you know, but hey, keep it he he will not
(17:56):
die a second death because we remember him absolutely.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
And uh. While my brother in law was diagnosed with
AOS and I had heard about it. There were several
people that I know and uh, other and actors from
you know, some of the shows that I knew had it.
I didn't know a whole lot about it. But once
it was diagnosed, I thought I had to do side
(18:21):
this lea, have to find a cure. And unfortunately he uh,
did pass away God, my brother in law. But I said,
I'm in here for the long haul, and until we
have a cure, I'm not going anywhere. And I know
there's a cure out there. We can put people on
the moon. We can find a cure for this.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Okay, wait, wait, hold up for a second, miss big
kil publishers not tell you we cannot do logical talk
before for her. You can't make sense because it can't
make sense that there's no other than green and the
met the met power. They don't care anything about that.
How much money? What is it gonna look at? I
(19:03):
get my profits of a people or the people of
a prophet? You got You're gonna have to go which way,
which way? And it's fully something though, when you really
don't know what you're gonna be doing, because when God
calls you for an assignment, you just what me? Why
not me? You knew why not you? And a lot
of people are afraid to bring it up because they
(19:25):
don't want to because it is a devastating condition and
it just gets worse, gets worse. And I'm like, like you,
you we can put a person on the moon. Oh,
I'm just saying, men down the street. Wait, you can
put them on the moon and you cannot tell us
you can't fix this particular lot of the diseases, the
ALUs and you know, and they're saying that people are
(19:48):
developings ALUs at a younger age, you know, and that's frightening.
And you don't know, you know, got all these pharmaceutical
companies on here. Well, if you're you're as fathers out
of you know, the problem is and you know, you
gotta what if you're allergic the minor bite what not?
But do I got we don't. We don't know what
that is. So we have to trust the medical profession.
(20:09):
Who got to trust uh the pharmacist, you know, make
sure that the doctors are giving us the right kind
of medical might got a program. But whatever the condition
is that you have and you can't tell me, I'm
with you, k I know it's I know it's something
out there. I don't think I don't think it's flaking
in the wind anymore. I think they know more about it.
(20:31):
They know they still saying they don't really know what happened,
but all these scientists, I'm not buying it. But I
have an issue with and this is across the medical field.
That you would rather make ten million dollars. Well, it's
not ten mills. You could make ten billion dollars. And
I've talked to the pharmacy lucal companies, and they put
(20:52):
them out, put them on, put them out, and you
gonna charge one person for a pill for eleven hundred dollars.
And they got to focus on how to stay healthy.
I just get well. And he said, well, we got
this real, we got a Rudimentum, we're working on it.
We're gonna discover, you know what, I'm just not behave.
And so you know, it's always a personal connection. For
(21:13):
the most part. Your brother in law was affected by
h ALS and if he's still with us, No, unfortunately.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
You passed away. But I continue to say, I'm not
going anywhere. You know. I met this gentleman, his named
Andrews Reason, and he had a LS and he said,
it doesn't matter how many breaths you've take in this lifetime,
but rather what you do with those threats. So I said,
(21:43):
I agree with that, and I'm gonna take every breath
I have until we find a cure. I'm not giving up.
I'm not going anywhere, you know.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
See, and they're scared of you. Pharmaceutical company. They probably
terrify of you. It's a good thing you've pretty because
you've got to be crazy to take on this, to
say I know this and demand a change, and we
can do that. We could do that collectively. We don't
have to do this all, you know, off of al us. Yeah,
put our support with you. Go to the event, you know,
buy some artwork. This is a good thing. I can't
(22:13):
thaig get some earthwork, and I'm into I love art.
I love people who are creative. I even like the
really creative guys, the women that put the targets up
on the on the buildings. Some of those young people
are so talented. And we have cut off ourselves for
the newness, for the young and the restless. You know,
the young people, you know, they don't let them start
(22:34):
hitting the side and they get the hormown, you know,
they start shaking real bread. They're like, oh, they need
an outlet. And one of the things our mother said
to us was always make new friends. So I'm be
afraid of young people. Remember one day you're going to
be in that position to keep young people in it,
and it keep your mind fresh. Even though they say
(22:55):
some crazy stuff. Nowadays, I'm like, oh, I'm like, is
this what you really turn the kids? That's another thing
because people think back to the soap proper. People think
that that's an easy thing to do. And to be
able to come up or come out and be able
to showcase this is your mother, showcase her artwork and
(23:18):
what she did. And she she'll never die another day.
She got one and she's young. Their father.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
This is in honor of her hundredths for a day
she would have been a.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
Hundred oh, so she would have.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Been a hundred on.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
How about that? So she will be on you know,
that'll be her birthday and a lot of time on it. Two,
it's going to get a year and then you get
a dadd and then you get it. Your year's coming in,
your dad's your year going out. And obviously she knew
that she was gonna leave a legacy for not just
you and your children and your family, but a legacy
(23:52):
to the world, you know, and you could do it
through arn't to get shop her hands out there. This
is gonna be on November twenty. Shut up, mother, look
on November twenty. So did you know that this would
work for you when you first got the part when
you're cast into it, because that's a big deal. When
it came I did.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
I was only hired for one day.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
That's a long day.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
And so the interesting thing was that And it.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
Must have been great acting because it was taking a
joke here because my line was my first line was
something that my family never heard, which was dinner is third.
And here we are. Actually next week we will be
airing our thirteen thousandth shows.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
Can you imagine?
Speaker 2 (24:42):
No, thirteen thousand show will be airing it Wednesday and Thursday. Okay,
it's a two parts and got all kinds of you
don't want to miss it. It's it's great and there's
so many fabulous things coming up. So I'm so proud
and honored. You know, he's part of the young of
our versus.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
What was what was her relationship like with Jeanie Cooper?
Because you are on a camera, you got I mean,
she could get far down, slopped, dead, drunk and you
just go over there. Come on, listen, come on, miss
you get your drunk self. Bo come on, let me
get to the stairs. All right. You were always that glue,
you know, that, that that connection to her to keep
her on the ground to keep her thinking it from
(25:25):
going up because when you got there she was a
very wealthy woman.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Huh. You know, I remember the first day like it
was really I totally remember. I went in there, I
was she was sitting in the makeup share and I
went up to her and introduced myself and said that
I would be playing for me day.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
And she took up, she took the bee.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
She looked at me and she said, vive about time
to say, you know, And I loved her so and
continued after we became you know, he became very close.
I spent you know, I went to her kids graduations,
college graduations. Mean, we did a lot of things together
(26:10):
and was honored to have known her, you know, all
the years, forty years.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
See one of the things when we see each other
at these different events and I'm watching all the people
you know, you know come in as KK cake ca.
A lot of people don't realize that your name is
not as the Valentine.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
My answer to that though, that's it.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
Do you when you get something like that and you
hear your name being called by other people because you
never know who's watching you, You never know what they're thinking,
and I appreciate the fact that you said, you get
one take on the soap Office and you better get
it right. How far out do you want? You don't
get far out to get paid a month oozing with
(26:54):
your thirty party and at the thirteenth thousand, so having
a big party. Listening to me, are we having a
big party?
Speaker 2 (27:02):
Well, we did a pressing up ready a few days ago,
but uneasy, it's just but now the shows are airing,
so you know, we tasted it. We're ahead like anywhere
from four to six weeks when it airs that we
taped it a little while ago. But so it's airing.
(27:24):
It's Wednesday and Thursday, thirteen thousands episodes and I'll be
thirteen thousand and thirteen thousand and one.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
Okay, don't give them up. We want that one back
right there, right there, because we got something else thirteen thousands.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Yeah, that is.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
That is phenomenal in and of itself. And the fact
that you all work so well together. Did sometimes you
like get on your nerve? It was you know, it
just worked okay because you got to love what you do,
you know, And some people I'm gonna here because I
don't want to get a play chick, I don't want teacher.
Oh no, you don't have you don't get ahead that
(28:00):
kind of attitude.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
You know.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
I love what I do. First of all, this is
something that I wanted my entire life. I knew for
me young when when you ask little kids.
Speaker 4 (28:13):
You know, a little there, what do you want to
be when you grow up?
Speaker 2 (28:16):
I never said I wanted to be a teacher, nurse,
I'm apply to I never said any of that. I said.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
I told my parents I want to be an actress.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
You know, from when I was a little girls, and
they were going, oh great, but they were extremely supporting,
you know, but they knew what it was a really
really hard business and that I would have to figure
it out.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
They didn't know anyone to help me.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Was very different back then too, and no one in
the business. And so you just had to keep taking
one step forward, two steps back, and you.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
Just keep moving forwards because that you're on your assign
it and you keep you know.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
I do this thing and I you've seen it on Instagram.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
I started it when the pandemic started, and I do
a one minute I keep it every Sunday. I call
it Sunday messages.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
They're only a minute long or less, and I try to.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
Make it, you know, something that's a quote or something
I've seen or something that's really positive, and you know,
and it's just and there's things I say are usually
things I need to hear myself well, you know. And
and that's like this last Sunday, I just did number
two hundred and forty two, so I've never missed a Sunday.
(29:38):
So that's how I know how long ago the pandemic was.
It was two hundred and forty two weeks ago, because
that's when I started it.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
And that's what we have to do.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
You just keep moving forward and you don't give up.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
And you've got it. You got to take care of
you everybody, you know. And it's no different from a firefighter,
a baseball player, a school teacher. You know, we all
want to have a peaceful, uh existence, getting along with
one another. But I think a lot of these people
don't like themselves. And that's why you see all the
(30:14):
anger and the hatred and the animosity because and this
is a cut through business. You know, they soon cut
they put the dude through the woodchipper on the other
the rests. So I'm like, oh, that was pretty extreme.
When he went through the woodship. I couldn't remember his name,
(30:35):
but I know I thought, I'm going through the woodchipper.
He's going to be back for the reunion. So and
because it's been on so long, do you get back
last from it? You know, like, because it's been going
on so long, and I keep wanting to do this
every day, and you could get up and you could
(30:56):
do it every day. See you took a two second
vide life work. Now that's pretty amazing. What have you
learned about yourself through your process of going from this
little girl living in LA telling their parents, you know,
I want to be an actress. And you know when
the first thing is why you want you can't make
(31:16):
any money at that, Well, we better go to college
and get you a good education because I know something
is wrong with you mentally. You're going to come out
and say it's.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
Interesting because I wanted to go to an acting school.
You know when I graduated from high school. Graduates from
high school, and my parents there was one in New York.
They went to visit it and they thought, no, this
is not a good part of town. Anyway, they said
to me, okay, look, if you we want you to
(31:46):
go to college. And you know, if you uh got
to college and graduat from college, then you can go
We'll send you to end up that school you want
to go to. But by you know which I did
go to college. I just I was just just so
stay university and I graduated from there, and uh but
(32:07):
and so and then then I just kept setting, you know,
because they call it show business for a reason. It's
a business of show and this is a craft and
you have to keep ongoing and keep setting. So I
still go to class, my anti class, my dance lessons,
my voice.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
Lessons, you know, because you know what to do. You know,
when you're when your presence is worthy of them calling
you to be to be a part of this. Do
you think that they knew about this right along and
just kept writing you in because you were getting bigger
and bigger and bigger.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
I I don't know. I mean, in the beginning, you know,
they would keep you know, they would call me back
in you know this her you know figures. But then
they put me under contracts and so and thank goodness,
and so that's where I am contract to themselves, you know,
and I'm honored, believe me, it's a huge honor.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
It is for us as well. So you said that
that you were attracted to the A L s uh
because of your brother in law.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
That's how I became, yeah, the smoke person, because of
being diagnosed in nineties. Then I went to them and said,
you know that, I said, we need I need to help,
I need to do something. That's how it all started.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
And that's how you keep it going too. You got
to get the feelings out there, You got to put
the message out there. You gotta talk about it. And
it's a hard A chronic illness is a hard situation
to be thinking about constantly, and oftentimes you have to
you have to take your your you know, step step
back in yourself and see what it is that you're doing.
(33:48):
And oftentimes that you take over it. You keep going,
and you keep going, and you keep going. You tenderally
go up, oh wait there, oh yeah, I know, I'm
smoking hot. So when you you wanted to go to
college and be an actress, and you are an actress,
but on't you also a flight attendant?
Speaker 2 (34:06):
That one, well I still am, Yes, I am.
Speaker 3 (34:13):
In fact, it was really neat because it was World.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
Flight Attended Day and so CBS followed me on a flight.
You can you can still find you can google back
and see it.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
It was.
Speaker 3 (34:24):
It was in So that was not that long ago,
a couple of months ago.
Speaker 2 (34:28):
And uh, that was great. In fact, I was at
the gate and this woman came up to look at me.
She said, I'm in my uniform, my flight attendant said,
on the fly. And she looked at me and she said,
hate hate Linder. Are you k Linder? And I went yeah,
(34:49):
and she went, no, you're not well. I was when
I woke up, So I'm not sure what happened, but
but what are you doing here?
Speaker 1 (34:59):
You know?
Speaker 2 (35:00):
And so it's great to see this because they ended
up interviewing.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
It's very very that is hilarious. And when they say that,
your family and friends said, don't don't lose your day job,
right you know, well, I'll tell you.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
You can't forget who you are when one day you
know you're.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
Serving coffee at thirty five thousand feet, the next day
you know you're on the set of The Young and
the Rest.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
Let's saddy.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
After that, I get to be here with you, you know,
talking to you.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
You know, you don't forget how you are. That way,
we're all, like you said, we are all in this together,
and you know.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
And we can work this out. We can work it
because you know, who's gonna save everybody. You know, it's
gonna always be the windows. We're ever gonna have to
be the one they come up and clean up, they
crack show and let them know. You know, you're crapping
on the floor now, right, Get that a diver. He's
not wearing us all the work, you know, and a
lot of peop we're still in this industry and in
(36:02):
life are terrified I'm growing old. And see, I don't
think it's so much about them being terrified of going
old as it is they feel like, well where do
I fit in? Now? What am I supposatic?
Speaker 2 (36:15):
Why do you keep going?
Speaker 1 (36:16):
You see?
Speaker 2 (36:17):
First of all, I'll tell you this, well, I don't
believe in retirement.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
For me, I think you have to have a reason
to get up in the morning.
Speaker 2 (36:27):
And it's really important for me. And people have maybe
a lot of people have, you know, things they want
to do. I mean, it's you know, and then that's
fine for them.
Speaker 3 (36:37):
But I'm just saying for me, I, you know, plan
to keep keep going, just keep on going.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
And see when you say keep on going, and I
can't do to keep on going by myself, I'm still
I'm den with two heathens. I'm down through heathens because
I was two and a half heathens, so now I'm
just half a heathen. So and I know that I'm
gonna work in progress. And I don't take life serious.
I mean, we're not coming out of this alive. Why
not have as much fun? Why not do as much
(37:06):
good as you can? I was walking around here cooking,
and it came to me. I remember when I was
a little kid. We had to learn this in fifth grade.
Sixty second has a minute? How much good can I
do in it? Sixty minutes has an hour? All the
good that's in my power?
Speaker 2 (37:23):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (37:23):
And I bought that.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
I said, okay, I like that.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
I'm not that's really good.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
And it was just you know, because you because she
said always make new friends because and I said, well,
I make young friends. She said, O lord, I have murder.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
You have a task.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
And if you wanted some young people today, negick you
over with the cast was like, ok So it made sense.
It made sense. And my family, I come from a
family and social workers and so They're always around kids
who are in dark places where you know parents, you know,
just completely abandon them. And he's he would say, God
(38:02):
worth herself. She would say, we are all guys kills
us and we all have to take care of he
like your blood, like your sister. And going back to
the retirement thing, I thought I thought I was gonna
do that, Okay, I said, Oh I can, I can.
I'm not resting on my laurels, but I can. I
get to do this. I may. Okay, I get it,
(38:23):
said I.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
And when you.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
Stopped laughing at me, he said, or have an assignment
for you? And I was like, but wait, and I
could want but but but and you know how women
we could talk ourselves out of success because we get
it into the battle. I can't do this. This is
too big, it's gonna take too much. Okay, yeah, and
what so you're just gonna sit on the sign, feel
on the side like a bump on the log. Okay, fine,
(38:49):
you don't want to show your glory, you don't want
to take that bushel off of your like never can
I have it? I say, you don't want your joy?
Please let me have it. Don't let it go The
way the baby, I'll do good with your joy because
you're not doing nothing about it, and they'll open up
because you got authenticity that that's what the key is.
(39:09):
And you don't have to make up who you are.
You know, if you're just coming from a real place,
you know you can't go wrong. And God did not
put us in these positions to just put us in
these positions. I don't care who God you believe in
that they need to know that you ain't the only
pieces of saying only bait to daby like you can't compisate. Okay,
so you leave it to the big guy or the
(39:30):
big woman, whoever you think it is. But have some
kind of foundation, you know, so that you can grow
and learn. Not to get the fact that you says,
I'm not gonna stop doing this. This is what I
want to do. This is what I do for grits too.
I always tell this is what I do for grits,
toilet papers and tip top tell everybody need toilet pit toime.
I'm just fast. So you.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Also because it puts me in the position that I'm
able to give back, which is really really great. I
mean I do I'm out every night doing something just
like I'm ambassador for Lupus organization, I mean their walks
or the LA Mission. I'm there every I'll be there
around Thanksgiving, you know, serving and Christmas and each.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
And you know, and you just in order, you know,
it allows me that people will care. And that's all I'm.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
Able to give back.
Speaker 2 (40:26):
And I felt, well, here I am doing something that
I always always wanted to do. This is all I
ever wanted to do, all I ever wanted to do,
the fact that I get to do this every day,
how can I not give back.
Speaker 1 (40:41):
I got goosebumps, or I got goosebumps, because that's when
you know your assignment and if it's not a big,
guys supernatural thing, might not be doing so well down
the road. And this is a personal commitment and a
personal relationship that you have and nothing but retirement. And
I'm I am a faithful Christian woman. And I was
(41:05):
reading the Bible, because you know, you get the Bible
or the Rosa Crucian or the Karate or whatever whatever
reading materials that you have. Yes, I've read the Cls,
I've read the Rosa Crucian, and there's these are some
books in the Bible, and these are books that you
don't just close up. So I'm reading in the Bible
one day. I went through Genesis and Exodus and King
(41:26):
one two three fifteen dollars, and I'm getting out and
there getting all the blueprints. Okay, this is how he
be a good wife, this is I he to be
a good steward, this is how to be a good daughter.
And I was like, I'm not this is another way
thing wants with me. If I said I'm going to retire, okay,
I didn't think that through. Because the Bible gives you
instructions on how to be a good kid, a good father,
(41:47):
a good mother, a good steward, and all of these
things could be good in your community.
Speaker 2 (41:53):
And it ain't one word in them, all of them books,
and not one world, not one thing that ain't.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
Word that it says, oh, this is what you do
when you retire. We don't retire. You just keep doing
what you do. When you can't do it, teak it
to somebody so that the legacy continues. And you know,
and these kids, now, they they're so selfish they come in,
they don't understand the work that you put in to
get where you are. And then why wat some of
that where you want you're gonna drop forty two years
(42:20):
to get to this. It was to maintain it, you
need to work really hard.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
It's like, I can believe I'm so honored star on
the Hollywood Walk Up thing, and you know, I mean,
I can't even believe it's there. I have to go
there periodically make sure these are so.
Speaker 4 (42:37):
Goofy you can't believe.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
Yes, it's seven oh.
Speaker 2 (42:42):
Two one Hollywood Boulevards. It's not that I don't know
the address.
Speaker 1 (42:49):
You don't have to know the address. So what was
it like because you have to get I think you
have to get nominated. You can't go in and buy one.
And so when I first got him, like, oh, I
want to stund in Hollywood Walk of Fame, and I'm like,
if they don't even know who I am yet, you know?
And then when they do, and you know, your fans
love you when they they're willing to take the time
(43:10):
out of their lives to spend time with you. That's
why I can't stand some of these nasty least celebrities
because you're nacy and you stink, and you should be
treating your fan base. You shouldn't be treating the people
that are contributing to your paycheck rule. I remember God wreaths.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
It wasn't for your viewers and the people that are
watching you, listening to you, you wouldn't be there. You
and I would not be having this conversation. I'm so
grateful about all of our viewers, all of our fans,
because without them, you know, where.
Speaker 1 (43:40):
Would we be.
Speaker 5 (43:41):
And there I was at a movie premiere and they
this was a big doing movie premiere.
Speaker 1 (43:49):
It could have been one of the movies I was in.
I can't remember my brain, it's kind of fog of you.
But we're here and all these entertainers and celebrities, and
you know they're all everybody want to see slaves on.
Everybody want to see Dan Accord and then no want
to see this that a third I'm not gonna miss
then name because you know how tracking you are. And
I did have to call you behind out on the
carpet deal with it. And he was fully an average.
(44:12):
He would just move right the way, this is my seat.
I want to just and I just walked up, got
in front of him and ask him, so, how how
much stupid are you stuck on? And never oh, that's
a mother love. That's my ye. This is right, this
is mother love. And I want you to explain to
me and this audience because you were talking loud enough
for us to hear everybody else. Ain't gonna say nothing
(44:33):
to Tea. I'm gonna say something, Tea, because you need
to be checked. You need to be regular. These people
paying for you to be in a movie. So back
yourself up, girl. After after I got off my put
my wig back on and got to swear off of
me because I went clean or I went completely clean
off and I actually was talking an hot of body
experience like he did. Hunt. I went off. I said,
(44:57):
now what you do, this is what you need to do.
You need to turn around, tell these people you owe them.
In the pology, he turns around. They're a big actor.
He turns around and he says, I am so sorry.
I didn't think people were looking at.
Speaker 2 (45:10):
Me like that.
Speaker 1 (45:10):
I'm like, who got a boss? These people you know,
like your life depends on this. You might not see
them anymore in life. Why would you want to destroy
a memory of you? And I don't know when people,
I don't know how long this has been going on
in Hollywood. They tell fans don't meet your favorite actor
because they're not gonna be who you think you are.
(45:30):
And for you, I can say you're one of my
favorite actors, and you do very well with what you're doing.
I see the joys. This is not like a oh yes,
I'm throw No, this is this is where we talk
with a purpose. This is where you can let people
know what you are doing. Now, speaking of what you're
doing on November twenty, tell, I do Homer, but I
(45:52):
want you to tell people about the art show.
Speaker 2 (45:55):
What's November twenty third. I believe the day were doing it,
and that's gounn and be h it's an honor of
my mom. Would have been one hundreds on November twentieth,
twentieth and all we're gonna it's freeze open, you know,
to the public, and will have her artwork. There's an
(46:17):
about fifty five pieces and there's sculptures that all she
had different mediums. She had you know, pen and egg oils.
I mean, she was amazing. She she had no idea
how talented she was. The opening has in congunction with
als Network and any anything that sells will the money
(46:41):
will go to them. And so that makes me really, really,
really happy because she's contributed to them, you know, all
this time, and because I'm celebrity folk prison and and
now she's continuing to studio in this way, and so
it makes me very happy. I will be there the
(47:02):
whole time, so I will just see anybody who just
wants to come in nowhere is.
Speaker 1 (47:08):
It going to be?
Speaker 2 (47:08):
Hell?
Speaker 3 (47:09):
It said that I think you had you're don't have
the other thing?
Speaker 1 (47:14):
You know, what's the name of the theater? You know?
Speaker 2 (47:17):
A minute?
Speaker 1 (47:18):
Hold on, John, where am I gonna go? He gets
me to clear east, will move, I'll talk to the
empty care re. Is she delightful? Just and what you
see is who you get. That's what you get. You're
not gonna get anything.
Speaker 2 (47:36):
Say the wrong address, sense you?
Speaker 1 (47:40):
You know I will find it, well, we'll and we'll
put it up on the crawl. Yes, we will.
Speaker 2 (47:46):
Ask me something. I'll find it.
Speaker 1 (47:49):
So anyway, So what other?
Speaker 2 (47:52):
What other?
Speaker 1 (47:52):
Because you said your spokes folks, and for Luther's okay, why.
Speaker 2 (47:57):
I haven't okay, right, I didn't want to say the
wrong thing. So it's that nine Oh no, it's not
the right one. It's a nine to one seven sixth sunset.
Speaker 1 (48:10):
Boulevards nine one seventh.
Speaker 2 (48:13):
I mean it's the east of Soho House where it is,
and it's called nine to one seven six galleries. It's
a beautiful space. It's it's just an incredible space and
it says here in the afternoon of art to benefit
(48:34):
AOS research and care. It's honoring my mom, Molly Wolback
or Hunter's birthday. And and oh, let me tell you
about the parking there's because it's parking is paid parking
available at the lot at nine oh too two sunset.
It's across that's the cross from the Rossity or there's
(48:56):
street meters and surrounding lots around there.
Speaker 1 (49:00):
But that's good to know. And who is the who
is the audience? Of course I know that's the audience. Okay,
it's all on my mom's work. It's all her work,
everything she and you said she did not the boy
you're interested in the art. You know.
Speaker 2 (49:17):
It's interesting because the wy asked me that, and I
didn't inherit that talent. I an actress and a dancer,
started as a cap dancer when I was like three,
and I still still go to.
Speaker 1 (49:31):
So you could find yeah, but I didn't.
Speaker 2 (49:34):
I didn't inherit her her artistic side.
Speaker 1 (49:37):
That's that I think. I think you're selling yourself just
way too short. No, you you have you have captured
her creative spirit and it's a different kind of artwork,
you know, and you think about it, you know, And
to maintain longevity in this business because they could, well
(49:57):
the kids call it was kept kept camp culture. You know.
When I saw that, I was like, y'all need to
shut up and sit down someplace. You're gonna sit up
here behind a computer and talk about somebody else.
Speaker 2 (50:08):
Like a dog like that.
Speaker 1 (50:09):
I got somebody, oh cause you know I will check.
Now I'm a regulator. Now, I'm not a letter regulator
because so many people need to be regulated. So now,
if you weren't doing what you love and doing this,
I mean could go on. Jenny did it till she died,
so you know it can't be done. And if you
weren't doing this, what would you want to be doing?
Speaker 2 (50:31):
Oh? Well, of course I always glow. I'm not They're
gonna have to draft me out there. I'm not going
I'm like owns you will. But I always thought, well,
I could you one thing I wanted to do? I
would love to do a Broadway show at some point.
I always wanted to do that. I've always wanted to
be okay's just saying, you know, we set.
Speaker 1 (50:52):
Listen, put it in the universal or put it out
in the universe.
Speaker 2 (50:55):
I would love to be a Dancing with the star.
Speaker 1 (50:57):
Have they have not called you? No, let's put it
out there in the atmosphere. Cauk Linda, she can hook
too or else.
Speaker 2 (51:05):
I could be a rock star, But I don't think that's.
Speaker 1 (51:09):
Oh I can give you. I can give you one.
And I know you know this. They told her she
wasn't never gonna make it because she changed the South
Tina Turner. She took her life as a command of
her life. And she she was just an awesome chick.
She was just awesome. I'm so glad it was a
(51:31):
brief meeting. I'm glad I could be in the room
with her, and you know, so, don't say you can't
be a rock star. And wait then, look at the
rolling stones? Are they even really standing up? All these
you know, holograms of them because they maybe Jacket got
to be twelve hundred years old because I remember him
back when we was eight hundred years old together and
like no rider to the wheels fall off. That's my magic.
Speaker 2 (51:54):
That's Oh, I like that the wheel.
Speaker 1 (51:57):
That's it, right into the wheels stall off. You you
can put your foot outside of the bike and just
keep wagging it using all the wheels and fell off,
and you're coming down the stairs plump and confront as
a mother loved our raggedy wagon and that's the others
to say, but she got a wagon. Well you're wagging it,
you know, And this.
Speaker 5 (52:18):
Is a unfortunately it's a business that's still with so
much animosity, you.
Speaker 1 (52:22):
Know, cause I gotta do this one. I got to
say this one. You know, I gotta be seen. I'm like,
they ain't gotta see me. I just wanted to check
the tiers. I could, I could be behind the scenes.
So what was your Broadway musical? Would you write it?
Speaker 2 (52:37):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (52:37):
Why? You know what?
Speaker 2 (52:38):
It's interesting because I Ron and I my lady husband.
He was really good at writing, but I was good
at editing.
Speaker 3 (52:46):
IM good at editing, and I know I.
Speaker 2 (52:48):
Know when something isn't right, I'll say no, you need
to stay this way instead.
Speaker 1 (52:52):
But writing the.
Speaker 2 (52:53):
Whole thing, you know, I.
Speaker 1 (52:57):
Have come to realize and understand. Uh, when I'm like
the credit watcher. I want to see who did well,
what was your position?
Speaker 2 (53:05):
This?
Speaker 1 (53:05):
That and the third? And you see all of these
these things go up, you know, and there's the good.
There's a gap for this, the second a d the
fifteenth baby and wanting in maneuver. And when we talk
about the business end, you need to know the business end.
And I didn't know what any of these were called.
And I made it my business to know what everybody
(53:25):
does on the show.
Speaker 2 (53:26):
Yeah, no, it's really good.
Speaker 3 (53:28):
I did a film at had the film now.
Speaker 2 (53:30):
Called A Little White Lie with Katie Hudson and John
Johnson and Michael Stannon, and that's really.
Speaker 1 (53:36):

So it's called the Little White Line.
Speaker 2 (53:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (53:46):
It was a snapshot of what the what the story is.
Speaker 2 (53:48):
Well, it's interesting. I am the head of a university
and and they're all trying to do they I don't
want to say to us, because they were right. If
you can find it. It's it's interesting because when the
pandemic started, right before the pandemic started.

was in the bank, and I ran across some.

your legacy to be? Well? If I asked.

and loyal.
