Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to The Party Podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
A celebration of professional women's disc golf with plenty of
hot takes, fun stories, and fan questions.
Speaker 3 (00:07):
I'm Hannah macbeth, I'm Christine Jennings, I'm ConA Montgomery, and
we are the Party Podcast. How was Missouri?
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Missouri was really gorgeous. Gave me some Colorado vibes and
surprising amount of elevation. I guess I was just expecting
trees and green, but we had some light hills, we
had to climb in the freak and was a nice
just like week off of just kind of relaxing the
body Colton's birthday week, so it was just a really
(00:37):
nice breath of fresh air.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Yeah, we fired you in the last episode. I don't
know if you heard that, but I did not hear.
So sick of her showing up every week and she
just has good things to say, and she always knows
what you're going to talk about.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
We're just sick of it.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
So we fired you to and awkward that you're here
and Christine's noted.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Christine, I'm sitting in for Christie. Christine's fired.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Yeah, Oh, we already we fired you, and we already
had to call you back.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
Oh, Craig, wait, I need someone to fill in. You're fired,
but you have to feel it hired. I got to
spend some time with Paul. He went up to Lynchburg.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
I was originally supposed to go with him, but we
got in the car and we got an hour from
our house and Paulo got sick. I think he got
car sick. So it was really sad. So we were
quite flustered. I had woken up at five am to
get us, you know, not that I'm doing everything myself,
but I got the majority of the stuff done, and
(01:44):
you know, Paul got up and helped and started loading
the car, and as you do before a road trip,
and we were all said to go. And we had
pulled into a Starbucks firehouse to just get some caffeine,
and I was like, oh, Pablo has his sippy cups.
I gave it to him and he had kind of
like choked on it a bit and started to like
he choked on it a bit and started coughing and
(02:05):
then he threw up. But he does that sometimes because
it's so new to him, so we didn't think anything
of it. I jumped in the back and I like
wiped him up and it was just water. He just
spit the water back up and then kept going with
our trip. And yeah, we were an hour from home.
We had just passed to the sign that was like
you were now leaving Florida, thanks for visiting, come back soon,
(02:27):
and he just vomited everywhere, and then this is embarrassing.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
I cleaned him up.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
I don't know if anybody listening has had kids, but
there are a lot of moments where you're just like,
what the.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Heck do I do? Like where do I start? I
don't know what to do.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
And so I just was like, okay, like cleaned it
all up, and you know, he was in a fine mood,
and changed him, put him back in the car, got
him all wiped down. We started driving, and Paul and I,
I think we're both thinking to ourselves, like this is
not going to work out well. He was pretty convinced
that the reason Pablo was getting carsick is because he
(03:08):
started leaning forward to look out the window because he's
still rear like rear facing, he's not forward facing yet,
and so he felt very strongly about wanting to put
a jacket over the window or a blanket. So we
pulled over my professional disc golfer husband, who has six
world titles, said Love, would you please, as I am
(03:29):
threading this jacket through the window, would you roll up
the window? And I said absolutely, dear, and he said
that's too fast, and I said, I am so on it.
I am your girl. And in my head I was like,
I'm really tired. I got up at five am today
and that's not even real. And he paused and like
(03:52):
was just kind of holding the jacket and I was like, oh,
And then he had said earlier like just do it slower.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
So then I was like okay.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
So then I thought he was anticipating me instead of
being like, hey, do you want me to start rolling
up the window.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
I just did it, and I rolled his fingers.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
In the window, and I rolled his throwing hand in
the window, and he freaked out because I mean, yeah,
I can't even look at you right now.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Oh no, it was his whole career eyes. I was like,
oh God, I'm not the throwing it. You probably thread pell.
I literally cry. I started crying.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
And then because he screamed in pain, I immediately, of course
like rolled it down. I was like, oh God, but
it had pinched him so hard that his finger got
really swollen, and then Pablo got scared and just started
crying and he just was so inconsolable for a long time.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
So here we are on the side of the highway.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
We're an hour into our like nine hour road trip
to Virginia, and we're both just like, let's go home.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Like we're done. We tried the effort, was there done?
Next we did? We tried. It's that little cake that
says like you tried on it, Yes, you deserve that cake. Cana.
Oh poor, oh my god.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
I was like, yes, so go to Regina and he's
gonna have to book a flight, but also can he
throw And.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Then we like didn't. We kind of like didn't speak
for a while in the car because like that was
a lot.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
And then I just kind of like didn't want to ask,
like how's your hand because it was a really sensitive
subject because he was rightfully very pissed that I sure
wished it was bad.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
And so later on I did see today so it
has to be okay, it's totally fine. He is totally fine.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
It just needed to it needed a moment, and it
had a moment and now it's over.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
But he goes later that day.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Like an hour later, we get home, of course, because
we were an hour away, and I go I said
something like, have you thought about like what you might
want to do the rest of the day because it
was his last day there, like he was gonna have
to book a flight.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
And he was like, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
I can't even I can't even feel like my fingers
right now.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
And I was like, oh no, you're like, I love you.
I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
I was like, oh god, here's ice. Let me get
you some ice.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
And my son had thrown up, and I was just like,
I woke him up, find me up.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
I did anything right. The world is falling apart o man.
He was in the car too.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Harrison was fine, Oh my god, Ris is just watching
the chaos he did.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
He's I mean, it's he's seven years old. So I
got him when he was two months old, and he's
just been along for the rides for him. This is
just another day, another day with the nigbit, another day
with my family, my crazy family.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Key.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
But yeah, it was all good. We had a really
good day. Went to the zoo, hung out. Jacksonville Zoo
is really great and fun. Fact, it's accredited by I
don't remember what it is.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
I can post it on.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Instagram or something, but I think it's like Aha or
Awa or something. And it's this really important accreditation where
they have to pass like rigorous testing for their animals
well being. So you can go knowing that the animals
there are either rescued or they're being rehabbed, or if
(07:35):
they are there in captivity, there's a lot of work
being done for like preservation and conservation. So it's a
really good zoo and all the animals look really happy.
They don't look like they're miserable, so they're not just
pacing back. If you have a zoo nearby. Yeah, and
that goes for like any place like you could go
(07:55):
to like a bird sanctuary or you know whatever, and
it could have that accreditation.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
So that's always fun. I'm going to be looking for that.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Yeah, it's super helpful because I just hate I mean,
after Tiger King or whatever.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
That show was that came out, I was like, oh no, no,
not the Tigers.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
All right, So we had some questions come in. I
fielded some fan questions, so I figured we would just
take this episode and kind of go over those. Julia
rode in and asked body recovery methods when playing so much,
And I liked this question because we're going to see
(08:35):
it a lot more, and it's something that's fun to
pay attention to because as the tournaments go on, I
think you start to see it a lot more that
people are like, Okay, I'm feeling it. I've played a
few tournaments back to back and sat on a plane
for however many hours or sat in the car for
ten hours.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Ooh, I'm stiff.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
So what are some of your favorite body recovery methods
you can do?
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Like mental and physical.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
Mental Honestly, after like tournament days, it's just getting the
mind completely off of disc golf, unless it's unless I
had like a horrible round and I'm like I need
to go work on my one hundred and twenty footers
or my put needs some extra work. Other than that,
it's like, all right, let me relax. It's also been
so nice having like Waco mentally, like being able to
turn off my disc golf brain instead of thinking.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Like I wish I did this better.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
You know, she gets me out of the van and
like I don't get to like sulk at the end
of my day, which has been nice.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
But some of my body recovery stuff.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
Is like my uh massage gun. We've had it for
probably like four years now, and that's just something I
do religiously. I also do a lot of cupping, and
if you haven't tried cupping, I super recommend getting it
done by professional first, and then when you learn to
do it yourself, it's just like a game changer. For like,
(09:54):
let's say my shoulder is super tight. If I do
like cupping with some CBD on my shoulder, it like
it feels like an instant din't release, It's insane.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
And then the biggest thing.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
For me for recovery wise, it's scraping. So I have
like a scrape tool and mine's the new Wave or
something off of Amazon, something like cheap but easy, user friendly.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
And I just used CBED or.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Like a like an icy hot sort of topical, and
I scraped my hands. So if anyone ever struggles with
like their knuckles and like their hands hurting, I like
used to have to tape my middle finger, and ever
since I started scraping, I don't have to do that anymore.
The inflammation is down and I can like bend my
(10:40):
fingers before I couldn't like bend my fingers for the
longest time, so scraping's been huge for me.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Wow I sent We had Onikin and her husband Tom
staying here before Supreme Flight open, and I introduced them
to stick rolling. That was a method of warming up
your muscles by just increasing the blood flow to them.
And it's like foam rolling, but instead of laying on
the roller, you're able to like use it with your
(11:07):
hands and just like use it all over your body,
so it's a little bit less. It's a little bit
more comfortable sometimes when you're in public spaces than just
like laying out on a foam roller when you don't
have like a comfortable ground. I introduced that to them,
and then foot rolling was huge. Getting a lacrosse ball
(11:29):
or a golf ball, a tennis ball even sometimes can work,
and just massaging the fascia in your feet like you're
the bottom of your feet. Training fascia is super important
and it's very interesting to learn about. It's all about
flexibility and pain receptors and there's a lot of stuff
going on. So those were the things that I do
(11:52):
and did, and then recently for my mental health, my
anxiety was up pretty high. I think it was maybe
just part of my cycle, and I couldn't eat. I
didn't like have an appetite. I kind of thought of you,
because I feel like you've had this happen before. And
I had a really hard time eating. And the only
reason I realized I wasn't eating is because I have
(12:15):
to take supplements every day. So I did the legs
up on the wall yoga pose, and I did that
for like ten ten minutes. Maybe I just kind of
sat there and like read through my emails and like
did some breathing. And it's just exactly as it sounds.
You find a wall and you put your you lay
(12:35):
down on the wall and you put your legs up
on it and you just enjoy the stretch and it
helps with blood flow, and it's a bent. Apparently it's
been proven that it kicks in your I think it
might be parasympathetic nervous system, but it kicks in a
nervous system reaction that is positive for just being calm,
(12:58):
and so that really helped me. And five or seven
minutes into it, my stomach was growling because I hadn't eaten,
and I just was blown away that I wasn't able
to hear the signals from my stomach because my body
was so high energy. It was so like it was
in like the highest performance and not really for any reason,
(13:21):
just because I was That's just how I was that
it's because it definitely helped me, and I wish, don't know,
it doesn't feel like that. I think it was really
I had taken a lot of like tail and all
and ibuprofen the week before, but I didn't take anything
for my liver, and so the next week I had
like really bad just yeah, I was super amped up,
(13:42):
and I just kind of was.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
It wasn't anxious fearful.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
It was just kind of panicky, like ooh, everything I'm
doing is intense, Like I have to really slow down,
Like I don't have to rush to get to the dishes,
like no one's chasing me.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Yeah, I just have to go to the sink really quick,
you know what I mean? You ever catch your side
flight and you're like every thanks, fine, Yes, I'm okay.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
I'm like fight and flight and all over the place.
Wan Maldonado asks what is your mindset when leading and
trying to win? As an overthinker, I do better pressing
than holding onto the lead. This is a common, very
common experience in the sport.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
Yeah, I mean I would say I would much rather,
do you want to? I would much rather be on
like a chase card and be able to just no,
I can like press hard from the back than to
be on lead card.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
By a few strokes.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
Like that's I haven't really been in that situation because
like Waco was completely different. It was I was leading
my fifteen stroke, so it's like I can't mess up
that bad.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
Where it's like if I maybe had like a two
or three stroke.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Lead going into something, I think I would just have
to force myself into a mindset of attacking the cour
just like not thinking about yeah, the people behind me
and like trying to keep my lead and more like okay,
I need to like beat the course better than I
can like a Kristin tatar Man. I just you know,
(15:15):
one of our episodes, I talked about, Oh, it's just Kristin,
you know, like every athlete has their season, and you know,
like she's really good right now, like we don't know
how long she'll be good. And then she continues to
blow my mind every weekend, So keep proving me wrongostin
maybe this is the season of Christ and tutar for
a long time.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
So yeah, it's kind of a momentum thing.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
I feel people would rather have the momentum than.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Being worried.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
I've think of it like starting a car. You would
already you would rather be like in the car driving
than like be the one who's like, oh, turning over
the ignition and you're like, hey, here we go, like
you know, but then someone's already done, like it's they're
all warmed up and like the heat is blowing and
it's all good, and you're like, I'm getting.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
In my cold car. Here we go.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Yeah, that kind of happened at the Masters this weekend.
I watched the final day, so everyone relaxed. IM, I
don't know what I'm doing. Oh, and Rory McElroy ended
up winning. But originally Scotti Shuffler was in the lead,
so he had like the lead and then he just
(16:27):
like slowly gave it up, and then Justin Rose came
and like shot really well, and so he was like
in it. There was like a bunch of people in
it for a while, and then eventually Rory McElroy had
like the equivalent of a twenty foot putt in disc
golf to win, and he missed, and so they went
into a playoff and then that's when he won. But
(16:47):
it was he didn't have the momentum, like Justin Rose
was the one who was coming off of like a
really hot round and was like ready, Like he was like,
let's just keep this going, like I'm connected, I'm in
the zone, Like let's oh. And so he actually went
to the practice green obviously and just kind of kept in,
you know, was ready to go.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
And I think that's what it is.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
I think it's I think your mindset. You have to
be comfortable and the uncomfortable and you have to just
be really humble and that those are two really hard
things to do, and that's why people give up leads
all the time, and that's why people win.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
From behind all the time. Pressure gets to.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
Julian Marquez asked mister Kansas City, which he's actually Paul's caddie,
And well, he's way more than that, but he's going
to caddy for Paul this week, which is really nice.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
I love that.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Which is the best disc golf course to play on
the tour?
Speaker 1 (17:52):
Whether gameplay flow?
Speaker 3 (17:54):
I really like this question I've never been asked this
question before. It's always like, what's your favorite The best
disc golf to play? The best disc golf course to
play on the tour, I would say is Maple Hill.
There is a very large consistency about that tournament. The
course doesn't really change that much year to year, and
(18:14):
the weather is reliably cold, so you know what.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
You're getting into every morning.
Speaker 3 (18:23):
I just think it's beautiful. I think it's a course
that is extremely attackable for the women, but it also
tests them really well. It's really fun to throw over
the water. I just I feel like there's so many
different signature holes. There's not really that one like you
see so many different women remark on like their favorite
(18:47):
moments in that course. There's so much scoring separation that
can happen on that course, and yet it's so beautiful
and it feels like such a celebration of disc golf.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
I think in the morning.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
In the afternoon it can be a little there's a
lot of beer being trick and then you get real crazy,
real quick. But yeah, New England is always my favorite
place to play disc golf. I started playing disc golf there.
It's hard to beat. And then honestly, this is not
(19:19):
a great course, but I really miss it. Is remember
like just playing at Master's Cup every year.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
I miss that. It was like always kind of a mess,
but it was just like fun. It was such a
fun course. It was such a fun course. It was
such a fun weekend.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Santa Cruz was our favorite place to be.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
It was like our favorite town, little beach town. And
that was like.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
One of the first times like hanging out with like
Page Piers for me and like her whole crew with
like James Conrad and our friend David Loginsn's and so
it's like, man, that's like when I think of Master's Cups,
I think of like some of the first years on
me too.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
I think of fun were fun there, like little I
remember when they added the golf course and everyone was
so mad, and then oh man, I remember that, And
then I just remember getting day loud became a thing.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Yes, like I didn't understand. I was like, oh, that's
so unlucky.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
And they were like, oh you got day long, day long.
Oh no, And Paul was like You're never getting that
disc back and I'm like, no, yeah, take.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Good bye on the fridge hole. It was so fun.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Yes, and just oh my gosh, and getting some of
those birdies and throwing from on top of the world
for the first time.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
And you think it's going so far. Yours probably went far.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
But you think it's going so far, and then it's
like in the tree and you're like what your feet?
Speaker 2 (20:36):
Yeah for me, I guess favorite course on tour similar
vibe probably the Green Mountain Championship courses. I love both
Fox Run and Brewster Ridge. I think they compliment each
other really nice, like for one tournament, but just like
similar to what you said about MVP, like Brewster doesn't
(20:57):
change a lot, and I think I I like that
about that and very similar what you said as well,
just like Scorble. I think the one thing that would
make Brewster a lot more fun is maybe like a
water feature, like I would love to see like a
lake somewhere on that course. But I would say Brewster
and then I mean of course that I I mean,
(21:19):
you need Master's Cup is just like one you bring
up and it's just like wow, like, oh gosh, such
a so many good memories. So I would say that's
one that's I definitely miss on tour.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Yeah, how likely are you to call a footfall on
your friend during tournaments.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
I feel like that's a good question. Man, I don't
is it. I mean, you have to call it right,
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
I don't care if you're my friend, if your foot
fault and I'm calling you.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
Yeah, what she said? Yeah? What are some.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
What are some common lines or shot shapes women throw
that men tend not to throw?
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Gosh. I mean, yeah, this is a good question.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
I've done a lot of videos on YouTube with Paul
where like I'm his caddy and I have to tell
him what to throw, and then he throws from my
bag and I have to tell him what I would
throw on that hole and he has to do that,
and it's a lot of Heiser flips. He doesn't do
a lot of Heiser flips unless he has to.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
It's not like his go to.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
Like I think he would just rather rip on something
and trust the flight of the disk than like take
something really you know, understable and let it, you know,
fly how it did, like put it on that nice
heiser and let it flip up. But I feel like
it's not you know, I mean, this is take it
with a grain of salt, because you know, everyone's different. Yeah,
I mean I would say that, and then I would say, oh,
(22:49):
what's the other one?
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Sorry?
Speaker 3 (22:51):
He I feel like women throw a lot of forehand
rollers to kind of get out of places, and them
men that I've practiced with tend to just they're so
tall and lanky and long that they just kind of
like patent pedic because they're like, you know what, like
if you walk with Anthony Brella, he's like six', three
(23:13):
so it's, like, yes he'll be, fine he'll just step
out around this.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Tree, yeah or we're like to rect behind. IT i
would say THAT i see a lot of women over.
It they throw over. Stuff see a lot of.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
Women throw heiser, Flips, yes especially with lighter weight. Plastic
AND i see women throw a lot of, ANHEUSERS i
think more than, anything because they have to get like
the extra flight THAT i think the guys can get
from like a simple just flat, shot where LIKE i
think we have to put ourselves on a lot more.
Anheiser LIKE i see a lot of chicks flexing stuff
(23:50):
to get the sort of DISTANCE i guess that the
men would try to.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
Get, Yeah and.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
THEN i would say men like they throw slower speeds
a lot more often than women.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
Do, yes.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
They have the ability to put the spin on the
disk and they can control and it's definitely an advantage
for sure to have that kind of, Power.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
SO i would say.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
That but also it makes me laugh Because i'll go
to a course AND i remember this just back in
the day and sometimes now When i'm walking With Paul,
hey AND i don't know If colton does, this but
it's so annoying because you'll see this perfectly beautiful fairway
and you, know and this happened At European open because
we played that new course AND i Followed paul for
(24:34):
a little while and you'll see this beautiful carved out
fairway and with like you know how the disc needs
to fly and where the green is and you're, like,
okay solid and this you know what is just looking
up in the, trees like, god, OH i can just
hit that Gap and tell me why they do it
At waco all the. Time they do it out all
(24:56):
these deity, events.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
And i'm, like stop throwing it up. There the fairway
is right.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
There it's someone worked really hard to carve out that.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
Fairway just hit the.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
Fairway i'm just gonna throw, yeah play the intended line
and then they find that little gap in the trees
and they're Just i'm gonna send it out, there and it's,
Gonna oh my, gosh drives me Because i'm, like, seven
throw this hole and then he's, like.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
Oh i'm just gonna throw over it. Over, well then
why did they why did they go to the trouble
to clear out this? Hole for?
Speaker 3 (25:33):
You that fairway mean thoughts on the tour down under
versus taking a full break for the off. Season we
saw a lot of people go down. There it's very.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
Expensive, REALLY i did not know.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
THAT i MEAN i think we saw like, ten ten
to fifteen touring players go down. THERE i don't think
it's a horrible, idea especially for the players that maybe
aren't getting as much coverage and exposure on the regular
too during the regular. SEASON i think it's like a good. Opportunity,
PLUS i think there's a lot of opportunity for clinics
(26:07):
and meeting with other people you, know in the community
down there because they don't get a lot of pros over.
There so it's like they're looking for that, information looking
for those kind of. Resources but as like a player
off season is just like such a great time to
do stuff for yourself other than like maybe trying to make.
(26:27):
Money but if you say it's expensive to go, there
it sounds more like an experience rather than making a
bunch of. MONEY i think it's one of those disc
golf bucket, lists like check, offs if you have the
time and money for. IT i think it's a great
idea for, exposure BUT i think it's a good time
(26:48):
to relax your.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
Body, YEAH i agree with.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
YOU i think it's one of those disc golf bucket
lists where you kind of you can either plan ahead
so you don't eat the costs as, much or you
can be, sponsor like sometimes they'll pay for your. TRAVEL
i don't know about that because it's not a touring,
event but I'VE i think it is a discolf destination for,
sure AND i don't. Know the off season is. Tough
(27:14):
it's tough to say that it gets you a lot
of publicity because the off season is just full of,
content and the YouTube right now is just a flood
of content even in the off. SEASON i mean in,
season you're seeing all of these. Rounds everyone has a practice,
ROUND i mean those get posted every, week and then
(27:35):
there's a lot of podcast, clips there's a lot of disc.
Reviews there's people who aren't on tour doing. Content now
we're going to start seeing in the bags because it's
spring and people are going to start getting their tour series.
Discs it's just a crazy place and there's a lot of,
content AND i think it's just kind of hard to
compete on that. Platform SO i think if you do really,
(27:59):
well you still have if you, go you still have
to be, entertaining you still have to play, well and
you have to still get people to watch. It BUT
i think the attitude around disc golf content on YouTube
is changing a. LOT i think you have to Be
it's almost like you have to have a shorter video
and then all of the comments are still going to say, like,
oh like you're people are going to stick around for
(28:21):
like six minutes of the fifteen minute, video and then
the comments are gonna be like this should have been.
LONGER i feel, like what my average watch time six
and a half?
Speaker 1 (28:30):
Minutes what do you? Mean, well it's.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Funny you say, that, because Like i've honestly been feeling
so discouraged from making like practice around content because everyone
is doing practice round, Content so it's LIKE i haven't
been even wanting to do those lately Because i'm, like
how DO i find some sort of content that people
actually want to watch that not every person is doing right?
Now LIKE i just you're watching the same, thing different.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
Person, yeah discolf is a.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
Lot it reminds me of high school sometimes in that
aside from the obviously it's like a lot of people who.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
Just keep seeing each other every weekend and.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
Whatever it reminds me of high school and that there's
definitely trends that come and they. Die they come, in
everyone does, it and then it dies and then you
just never speak of it. Again and so, Yeah i'm
just curious of like when it's gonna die and like
what it's going to be replaced for the next.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
THING i know that's why you just have to be
passionate about.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
IT i mean people were starting YouTube channels and they
didn't even have any, Ideas like they were just like all,
RIGHT i got, everything like tell me what you guys
want to, watch And i'll make. That and it's, like,
well they want to watch you be passionate about, Something
like they want to watch you be excited about. Something
so if you're just doing it to do it then
probably not going to bring in the good very Genuine
(29:46):
has there ever been like a poster a video that
you've made where you're, like this is going to be
so good and then it got like two, likes, yes,
several oh.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
SEVERAL i like it like a positive.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
Way i'm, like put so much like effort into, something
and then Like i'm, like, dang this is this is
going to be viral or like this is going to
be shared so, much and then it's like, okay all,
right all, right two, hundred two hundred. Likes, yes that's
WHAT i just worked for hours on. For but that's
also part of the, Passion like you can't be that
pissed off, about you, know a good video obviously that
(30:20):
you put good effort into not getting traction off the top.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
That i've had the opposite Where i'm like doing a
video And i'm questioning myself the entire.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
Time this was my first vlog that hit one HUNDRED.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
K it's one of the only videos to hit a
Hundred BUT i was like blown, away and ACTUALLY i
think what ended up what happened is That paul AND
i weren't touring together at that, point LIKE i, WAS
i decided to do like a fun Little midwest thing
With christine and like go to a couple of tournaments with,
her and SO i wasn't on tour With paul for
the first time in, years AND i think people started to,
(30:53):
SPECULATE i guess because discolf like apparently was very boring back.
Then people were, interested.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
But they were, like why is a hand on?
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Tour and so THEN i posted a vlog and my
thumbnail was like me with a broken heart because of
what happened in my, Vlog and THEN i think people were, like.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
Oh no freaking it was a good.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
Blog but the whole TIME i was like this is,
Dumb LIKE i don't even want to film myself right,
Now like this is so, Dumb Like i'm gonna keep
doing check, ins but Like i'm not even doing them
that often and it's not gonna come together and it's
just not going to be.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Good and then it ended up being pretty.
Speaker 3 (31:27):
Good people are, YEAH i BECAUSE i Filmed paul AND
i produced his. CONTENT i always know when it's going
to be a good video.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
Because it's when he's having.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Fun and like WHEN i filmed him And jonathan competing
against like The mandahano sisters for like who's the best
siblings in disc? Golf they were having so much fun
him And simon when they did That Simon's lines. Video,
yeah because you're having, fun because GENUINE i think it's
easier BECAUSE i just you, know when you're filming and doing,
it like you can kind of tell. Easier but, SURE
(32:02):
i want him to do that. AGAIN i want him
to like do A Simon's lines, video but like see
if we can revert him. Back, yeah because ever since
they did that, video he's won so much And i'm, like, Okay,
simon you have to throw The simon.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
Lines.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Yeah see if it's, like, yes it's. Real, Yeh she's
a universe.
Speaker 5 (32:23):
Imagine and he's like, nah all, Right, well do you
have anything that you want to bring up BECAUSE i
think we're just about out of time for this.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
Week we Have Kansas City Wide open if you want
to intro your thoughts about that so?
Speaker 2 (32:41):
Far, yeah first year playing here at Bad Rock Creek
Disc golf.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
COURSE i like.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
It but What i've noticed more than anything is lots
OF O. B so hopefully the wind is decently down.
Here we're supposed to get, weather Which i'm tired of
playing in crappy. Weather so say, little a little, prayer
a little thought into the universe that we get a
nice round at least a nice.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
Weekend but we'll.
Speaker 3 (33:07):
See, yeah what shoes are you?
Speaker 2 (33:10):
Wearing, Oh i've been wearing Some Solomon Cross, trek nice
tread and gore texts actually some of my favorite And
i'm like a Huge adidas, Fan So i'm cheating AND
i don't, KNOW i might stick with.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
Them solomon's been in the game for a.
Speaker 2 (33:26):

was influenced by these Stupid instagram ads that are personalized

products THAT i really, love And i'm very interested in
your baby. Books would you be interested in sending me

(34:47):
they SENT i sent that copy PASTE i mean a
hand a large handful of, places and so many of
them were, like we're not doing collab content at this,
time but it was worth a. Shot but these people
responded and they were, like, oh we're super. Interested can

did and THEN i got a notification on my phone
