(00:07):
Hey, guys, I just wantto welcome you to the Paul Junior Podcast.
This is gonna be a podcast where, you know, I could do
some talking about the things I'm passionateabout. Certainly some recap of American Chopper,
all these years of American Chopper.I'm sure you guys would like to
hear some I don't know, behindthe scenes stuff, maybe some show rewatches,

(00:29):
and then really honestly do some goodfor some charities, talk with some
corporations. Just some of the stuffI'm really passionate about that I love to
talk about that I find interesting, that I hope you find interesting too.
And also, we were gonna waitto get in the can maybe like five
or ten of these before we letthem, you know, let them out

(00:50):
publicly. But there's one in particularthat I think we're gonna release early.
And it's really due to the situationin Afghanistan. I got my producer here
and so hey, folks, he'sbeen helping me through all this, and
honestly I couldn't do this. He'sdoing all the sound stuff and in the
cameras and everything like that, andso in any event, so you know,

(01:14):
with everything that's going on in Afghanistanand the people that are hurting out
there, especially military. We dida podcast about three months ago. It's
for this new institute called the FirearmsResearch Institute, and it was I'm not
gonna lie to you, it waspretty heavy. I mean it was.
It really opened my eyes to someof the problems that we have out there,

(01:38):
heartbreaking, yeah, with veterans andveterans suicide and people who are contemplating
it. And so we just thoughtit'd be really good to release this now
instead of waiting just for you tohear and try and understand some of the
stuff that's happened out there with ourveterans. So just a few statistics that
are more current. The Veteran AffairsVA Suicide Hotline receives on the average seven

(02:02):
hundred and twenty five thousand calls peryear. That's seven hundred and twenty five
thousand calls per year. Is thatshocking team, that's just veterans. Those
are just veterans. Not one ofthem are offered the opportunity for firearm safe
storage. Now, make no bonesabout it, I'm not This hotline's amazing.

(02:24):
So this isn't this isn't anything againstthe hotline because they're obviously they're taking
the calls. They're trying to helpthese guys that are struggling, or women
for that matter. And my pointis firearm safe storage is something that we
feel could have a huge benefit movingforward to prevent veterans suicide. And that's
what this next podcast is really allabout. The last two weeks of the

(02:50):
US military withdrawal from Afghanistan, theVeterans Suicide Hotline received an increased outreach of
more than thirty five thousand made betweenAugust thirteenth and August twenty ninth. To
me, that's just staggering. Youalmost have to remember that that's like a
person behind that each number. Likethat's what's kind of hard to You need

(03:12):
that second to kind of like realizethat it's crazy, you know. And
what we don't realize even from thetwenty years in Afghanistan, a lot of
these guys are young eighteen to thirtyfour men and women that they're all kids.
I mean I say kids, Imean I'm older now, but this
is really not These are not likeolder men and women that were used to
when we think about Vietnam and someof the earlier wards. These guys,

(03:35):
these are very young people. Soanyways, I just wanted to shout out
to you guys, let you knowthat this is what's coming. I'm very
excited about trying to do some realgood and with this podcast, and also
we're gonna have some fun. Thankyou for listening to the Paul Junior Podcast.
