Speaker 2 (00:51):
For the first time, and I would say, my god,
it has been four years. Longtime listeners will remember this
series of Definitely Near and dear to my heart. We
are bringing back for one night only Impact Showdown covering
TNA Wrestling Fall Lout. TNA Slammer Versary is now in
(01:14):
the books. Yo. If you guys did not watch the event,
you missed out on a historic, fantastic event. Let me
tell you. For those of you that have watched it,
come and testify my brothers and sisters. Let the congregation,
the wrestling congregation, know what they had missed. Sound off,
(01:34):
come in with your comments, your reactions. As we are
minutes removed from Slammer Versary off the air only on
pay per view. Nice selling point forty bucks well worth it.
I definitely came out of my pocket, spent a little
bit of that coin and got that pay per view
(01:55):
hook up and honestly not disappointed what soever. I've got
the interactive polls that's up on Twitter and on YouTube.
At the RCWR show, wanted to know what you guys
had thought about tonight's Slammer Versary event, So definitely make
sure you are interacting on those you know. It's funny.
(02:17):
Before we dive into this, I gotta say that this
is TNA Slammer Versary related, the twenty third annual Slammer
Versary pay per view event. It was funny. I had
polled our community exclusively over on the YouTube channel and
I said, Yo, let me hear from you, this is
(02:37):
what I'm thinking. I'm thinking about bringing back an Impact showdown.
And we had the vast majority of people that did vote,
although it wasn't it wasn't that much, but we didn't
have a disiant amount of people that voted. And they
were like, nah, talk about Slammer Versary on the Monday
post show and I'm going, whoa, that is pretty surprising.
(02:58):
What the And you know, the Boar and Morale was
talking to a couple of friends, podcasting friends, and I
was talking to the wife you about it, like nah, man,
like that's what all is going to be happening on
the card, Like yeah, nah man, you need to cover
you got to do a post show talking about that.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
So here is how we got to this point.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Yo. It did not disappoint from top to bottom. Fantastic show.
For those of you that might have checked out the
pre show, you know, you got two matches there for
that hour pre show pay per view going off pretty
much several minutes before eleven thirty PM, so you're looking
at about a three and a half hour pay per
(03:44):
view event. That's not really too shabby whatsoever. So look,
as many of you guys know, it's been seldom we've
been talking about TNA wrestling here, but I have been
talking about it more and more on the show. Showing
them a lot of love. And then this great partnership
that TNA Wrestling has with WWE right now, and we're
(04:04):
going to talk about that, because I know there's some
TNA fans that's like, oh my god, how does this
make any sense? What is TNA thanking Water Day doing.
We're going to tackle all of that on this special edition,
I promise you. But for me, I really hope that
my takeaways and talking about Tonight's Slammer Versary and just
(04:27):
the overall TNA product. I hope that it falls on
fresh ears. I hope that it opens people's minds up
a bit because you all may not see some of
the things that I'm seeing, especially from a technical aspect,
since that's definitely up my alley. That's what I got
(04:50):
my degree in and media production recently and everything. So
let's talk about first things first. This show, although matches
quality wise pretty on point, this event did face its
challenges when it came to audio issues. Not to mention
(05:10):
it faced its issues when it came to technical directional,
you know, just from a technical standpoint. Besides the audio issues,
from a technical standpoint, this show had issues as well,
definitely from a.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Where do I begin with this.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
It wasn't all that bad. It was just little things
that for me having a degree in media production, I'm
just going, how is this allowed? So let me start
by saying this, Dave Logreca busted open. I love his energy.
He's got great enthusiasm all that. I know. He's been
chipping away at it for years. You're not gonna find
(05:53):
me really saying anything bad about Dave Logreca. I like
how he's been bouncing around doing some things for ww events,
and then he's been doing some things for TNA Wrestling.
Loved that. Tommy Dreamer great as always. I had to
ask who the third guy was because I'm seeing this
third guy that was part of their panel. White guy
(06:15):
looked middle aged or maybe kind of close to being
a grandpa. And that's not me dissing him. I'm just
being honest with you. Guys. Seemed like a stoned out hippie,
you know who maybe at one point was part of
a big metal band or used to be part of Woodstock.
And then I was told, oh, no, that's that's Snake
from from skid Row. I'm like, huh, like yeah, yeah,
(06:37):
that's that's I'm like, okay, but again, I'm trying to
understand what is his connection to wrestling, So I'm doing research.
I'm trying to educate myself while asking social media at
the same time, chat me up a bit on this guy.
Give me the four War one because like obviously I've
been checking out the TNA product religiously, so tell me
who this guy is. But I just felt that as
(07:00):
that fan that hasn't been dropping in on TNA wrestling
at months or a couple of years, I know there's
a lot of fans that's in that same boat. You're
looking at this guy and you're trying, you know, you're
you're the hell with his looks. Put his looks to
the side. Okay, he's talking. What's the substance? What's he
got going on here? And he wasn't offering anything. It
(07:24):
was just yeah, well, I'm from right here in New Jersey,
so you know, uh, I guess I gotta represent Mike Santana.
Mike Santana is gonna win, you know. And it was
just so nonchalant, just so brief, just so that I'm
just going, wow, And this guy is part of a panel,
(07:45):
like a more passionate random TNA fan that's following the
product weekend and week out, would have done a better
job than this guy that they had that was part
of the panel. So that was major buzz kill for me,
and not for nothing. But if you're like me, you're
looking at TNA Slammer Versary, You're going yo Slammer Versary.
(08:08):
This is one of TNA Wrestling's big four events out
of the whole year.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
So man, you gotta come in. You gotta go in
there with the energy.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
You gotta go in there guns blazing, you gotta go
in there popping. It's gotta be sizzling, baby, it's gotta
be hot. It's gotta be hot. Yeah, I just wasn't
feeling it from this snake dude.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
It was a hard pass for me.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
Okay, Dave Logreca brought the energy every time we went
to the panel. Dave Logreca, stay bringing the energy. Tommy
Dreamer is Tommy Dreamer, but he still got that swag.
He's got a little bit of that charisma. Always Tommy
Dreamer on point that skid row dude going forward. No,
we cannot run that back. Let's talk about Gia Miller
(08:54):
for a second, and I'm bringing all this up because
the very first thing I'm watching is the pre show
fast pre show joint, right, won't even need to dive
into it on the matches themselves. I'll definitely give you
guys some quick thoughts, but we don't need to just
dive into it in depth. Right. Let's talk about GM
Miller for a second. This was really my first time
(09:15):
really watching and listening to GM Miller because in the
four years that we pretty much had Impact Showdown on
Hiatus and maybe once in a blue moon, I'm keeping
tabs on TNA Wrestling by looking at some clips online
or on social media. I've heard about GM Miller. I've
never seen our work, so this was my first time
(09:36):
actually getting in a nice, good size sample of her work.
And let me tell you, GM Miller, first of all,
hear what I'm saying now, don't jump on me.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Don't jump on me.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
I think TNA Wrestling, if they're really serious about who
is going to be their faces for hyping up their
pay per view events, entice people for why they need
to spend that money buy these pay per views and
all that, they need to challenge themselves to do better
than Gia Miller. It's asking a lot of her to
(10:14):
be that main salesman. Okay, that is asking a lot.
If you want her in the role of being a
backstage interviewer and all that, yes, like for sure, especially
since you're basically giving her to the fans and bite sizes.
But to essentially ask her to be the lead for
(10:35):
a pre show and then coming in and checking in
with her randomly during the actual pay per view show,
that's asking a lot. That's asking a lot in TNA wrestling,
I think they need to ask themselves again. I'm looking
at things from a production standpoint. My whole thing is, okay,
(10:57):
by this person that you're putting in front of the
camera on the microphone, what is the target demographics that
you're trying to go for here? It's not just about
the age, but you know, it's also like, okay, money wise,
economic wise, what's the target audience? Who are you trying
to go for here? Education wise? Who are you trying
(11:17):
to go for here? And Jiah Miller's dialect, it's very,
very thick. She's got that strong Southern twang that's going on.
It's not necessarily a bad thing on its own, but
when it's paired with her delivery style. It can come
(11:38):
off very as it was evident tonight. It can come
off pageant like okay, especially in high stake moments and
when they were running down the card for Slammer Versary tonight.
You know. But like as far as promos, postmatch interviews,
she really does. She holds her own will in that.
(12:00):
But as far as that big level, big league energy,
this was a mismatch. I felt right here. They really
should have been tagging in somebody else. She has the look,
may you don't mistink about it. She has the look,
but you need a compelling presenter, you know, beyond that,
(12:21):
because after all, this is all about selling. This is
all about selling, and you gotta definitely come off like
you know what you're talking about. We got to hear
that passion, that enthusiasm that's in your voice as you're
talking about key rivalries, and you know, you gotta at
least and look, those of us that's made our rounds
checking out different pre shows, we know what we're talking about,
(12:41):
don't we. Right, You don't have to have a degree
in media production. If you've watched the products from many
wrestling promotions long enough, you know exactly what you're looking for.
You know how you like it, you know how you
want it, right, So that may bring a question to you, guys,
where you go.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
Okay, Lee, I hear you, I hear you.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
I could make many more points, but you get the
cusp of it, right, you get the general cusp of it.
So now that probably has you going, Okay, Lee, Well,
if you can have it your way, who would you
maybe consider sliding in there? Okay? Well, you got some
up and coming names. I'm just gonna throw a couple
of names at you, and you guys can do your
research and all that, but you've got so Calval and
(13:22):
as we know So Calval, she's been doing her thing
for wrestling travel and progress. But she definitely she's got
the maturity, she's got the poise, she definitely has that
ability as far as hyping up a product and all
that goes. She definitely stands out. Gabby La Spisa hopefully
I'm pronouncing that last name right. She's mainly known for
(13:43):
serious XM stuff, busted open. She's definitely got the charisma.
Y'all know that that. Check out the show and everything.
I'll even give an honorable nod to Denise Salacito. I
know she's been doing her thing. I busted open to you.
But see where the thing where she might be disqualified
(14:04):
is the fact that she comes off more like a fan,
more like a mark than anything else. And we're talking
about really being able to sell those those big moments,
trying to get people to Yo, you got to come
out of your pocket. You've got to pay for this
pay per view, right, so you kind of got to
go in a little bit of a more Okay, Well,
who can we really really get to Jenny taff Those
(14:27):
of you that remember her days from FS one when
she was the moderator there for Undisputed with Shannon Sharp
Skip Bayless. She's also been a sideline reporter for Fox
Sports covering NFL college football. Strong, strong live presence, very
commanding voice, and she speaks with on air authority Meghan Olivey.
(14:55):
She's known for her work in UFC definitely as the
ultimate U insider. So that's just a couple of names
in Emmy Paton, That's just a couple of names, right,
And notice all these names that I've brought up, we've
been showing nothing beloved to the women. Any of those
names kind of connect resonate with you. SoundOff, let me know,
(15:15):
or if you got somebody else you think, hey, yeah,
now that you said that, Lee, they probably should move
on from GM Miller. Maybe they can go in in
disrespected direction. Sound off, let me know. In the meantime,
let's talk about some of these matches. So we had
the pre show pre show, by the way, New York,
Love y'all you BS arena. I was about to say USB.
(15:40):
I always want to say USB when I hear that arena,
New York crowd they represented, man, I mean, that was
a decent amount of folks in attendance. Look to be
about close to eight thousand that was in attendance tonight
at the UBS Arena. I tell you what they did,
many wide shots throughout the night, A lot of seats,
(16:01):
a lot of filled up seats.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
Man, beautiful thing to see.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
Two matches during the pre show, we had the Elegance Brand,
Ash By Elegance and Heather by Elegance retaining their TNA
Knockouts championships against the Inspirations Cassie Lee and Jessica McKay.
(16:25):
Eight minutes, thirty seconds. Okay, little match, I got nothing
else I can say four in regards to that one.
You know, it's it's kind of interesting because this was
my first time really really seeing what ash By Elegance,
who used to be known as oh what was her
(16:48):
name before? Was not Brook Hogan? Right, what what was
her name before that?
Speaker 3 (16:54):
I want to say Brooke Hogan.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
I know it wasn't Brook Hogan though Dana Brook known
as Dana Brooke in WWE. This was really my Okay,
I haven't seen you on the regular on my TV
set in some years. Let's see what you're really capable of.
Let's see all right, it's been a while.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
Wow me what you got?
Speaker 2 (17:18):
And it's kind of okay. It's the same thing, all right.
You dressed it up different, but it's still the same
chicken soup. I'm okay, you can't fool me, you can't
forl me. So then I look at the inspiration who
used to be known as the Iconics, and it's okay, well,
you know, hey, how you doing besides having blonde hair?
Speaker 3 (17:44):
What's going on with you girls?
Speaker 2 (17:46):
You know? And I got to admit I've always had
a soft spot for the Iconics. I thought that WWE
letting them go was a huge mistake. I thought the
girls personality wise and all that. Could you just imagine
and if they were still in WWEE just a lot
of the fun stuff that Triple H would have them doing.
I guarant damn t you that nine times out of
(18:07):
ten they would have been doing stuff for sure with
Chelsea Green. Hell, for all we know, those girls might
have been part of her service. For all we know,
they sure as hell probably would have made it be
a lot more entertaining than what album Fire and Piper
Nevin is doing right now. Sound off, let me know
what you think about that, but you know it just next, Okay,
(18:35):
we gave it more time than it needs. It don't
need to be as long as the match itself. Next
match the hometown man, this was my first time seeing
this guy picking up a win over Triple H. I
mean Eric Young, Eric Young. I love Eric Young. He's
got a cool little show, a vinyl record show that
(18:58):
is on Think gets on Access TV if I'm not mistaken.
I've checked out a couple of episodes here and there.
Love what he's doing. I called him Triple H because
he was pushing a white beard. You know, when I
first saw him, I thought I was looking at Triple
H and not for nothing. But there was that phase
where in TNA he was going with the whole triple
H thing, and I'm glad that died out really quick.
(19:22):
They've got something really cool going on here with the
Hometown Man. I love that that is a running gag.
Of course, Cody Deaner is behind this gimmick and everything.
I love it. I love it. It's it's quirky. It's
(19:44):
a little corny, but it's right up my alley. I
like corny and I like quirky. When you just combine
those two and you put some comedy in there, you know,
some good comedy. You definitely got some memorable stuff and
all that. So I like what they're doing in here
with with Cody Diener. I'll have to rely on you
guys to educate me and the rest of the people
(20:05):
how long this whole Hometown Man gimmick has been going on.
But uh, this has a lot of breakthrough potential. I
gotta say, I love the little theme song that the
guy has too. It's kind of reminding me of ac
DC with Bond Scott and I can't think of the
name of the song, but the way the lyrics go,
(20:29):
love Hungry Man, I just love I'm not gonna say
any rest, but you know, love hungry Man. So, like,
as I was hearing this theme song the Home Town Man,
I kind of had I don't know if that's what
they were trying to go for. I'm very curious to
h to know what what the thought process wasn't doing
that one. Meanwhile, we had the rope Breakers Real One
(20:56):
formerly known as Enzo Amori Zillafa two and Josh Bishop
defeating Steve Macklin, Jake Something and mans Warner with Steph
de Lander six man tag match three minutes. Look great.
Seeing my boy real one Enzo O'mori, I mean he
(21:23):
hit verbally all the hits, everything that we have come
to know and love of this dude. It also had
me going at the same time, what the hell has
this dude been up to since last we saw him,
because like, and he came out with this championship belt
and I'm going, okay, what is this about? And apparently
(21:45):
he is representing the what's the name of this promotion?
I'm looking at my notes here because I like the
concept of this promotion. By the way, because hearing what
this promotion is about got me going, okay, well, I
want to learn more about it. I want to know
when they're going to be doing more events because I
(22:07):
would like to check out this promotion. But the name
of this promotion that Enzo has been working with is
called Fourth Rope Wrestling. Again, it's called Fourth Rope Wrestling.
And what they are about, I just want to feed
you guys bullet points. What they're about is cross cultural appeal.
(22:27):
So they are trying to do this nice merge of
rap fashion and pro wrestling. Hey, I'm sold on that.
That's a really good combination.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
I'm down with that.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
And so far they've only done for events. They did
the Hills Have Eyes one, two, three, four events basically
from what I'm able to see, so it looks like
maybe there was actually five events, but I'm not showing
that eight for the fifth event. Here's what I'm looking
(23:01):
at right now. They did the Hills Have Eyes three,
which was a kickoff event in Chicago November two, twenty
twenty four, and then they had The Hills Have Eyes
four that was in Atlanta, taping on December twelfth of
twenty twenty four. Then they did Hills Have Eyes five
(23:23):
sxsw Empire Garage March thirteenth of this year, and then
they did the Hills Have Ie six for the Culture
Vegas April eighteenth, twenty twenty five. So if you're keeping
track based on what I said, even though I'm missing
a little bit of information, basically, when it's all said
and done, there's basically it's been a handful of events
(23:46):
that they've done, okay, and to give you an idea
on who the champions are. So five events, five events,
one that's upcoming, actually one just went past. There was
one that they did on June twenty seventh, Pray for Paris.
They already did that, so you're keeping track. That's where
we are now as far as who your champions are
for that promotion, Enzo won the inaugural flyweight championship in
(24:13):
a twenty man battle Royale at the Hills Have Eyes
five for the Culture event back April of this year. Meanwhile,
Zillafa two he's the inaugural and current heavyweight champion. And
then your fourth Rowe tag team champions are the Hardy's
(24:34):
Matt and Jeff Hardy. So that gives you an idea
of what's currently going.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
On with that promotion.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Love the fact that as far as championships goes okay,
they only got but this many titles. That's great, right.
You know, I had a little bit of a problem
with this match as I was watching it. Yeah, look
three minutes, right, don't really need to dive al but like,
here's the thing. You had Enzo on mariaka Reel one
(25:01):
spending all this time hyping up the hell out of
his tag partners in Xilava Tu and hyping the hell
out of Josh Bishop and everything, and you're like, ah,
Xilopha two, this is the son of the late ooh Maga.
You know, yeah, you gotta put some respect on this dude. Man,
you gotta show this man some love. And of course,
(25:24):
as we all know, Zilafha two WWE is definitely eyeing
him and all this other stuff and everything.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
Right, So.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
Where I had a problem was the fact that, Okay,
Xilopha two, this is a big man, Jake Something. I
hadn't seen Jake Something in a few years. But I
looked at Jake Something way back when, and I said, man,
this is some heavyweight championship material right here, if you
do this guy right and everything. So you gotta just
(25:55):
imagine me seeing this guy on a pre show. I'm
going huh. Well, not that it's a bad thing, but
just let's see what happens. I didn't like the fact that,
with Zilla and Jake being big guys, they weren't booked
in such a way where Okay, look, when these guys
get eventually tagged in, it's impactful, it means something. Shit,
(26:20):
don't hit the fan because business is about to pick up,
because these are some big boys. And then to get
that tease, where okay, when are we going to see
both of these big men? Okay, now we got them
both in there. Okay, now they're sizing each other up.
Oh man, big man versus big man. Oh you know,
big sweaty meat, you know, right, And just the way
(26:41):
that this was essentially booked, we didn't get that. I
was not a fan, especially after Real One hype the
hell out of Zilla. I did not enjoy seeing Zilla,
like very very early on in this match, like within
seconds he's being put on and I'm going, how does
(27:02):
that make any sense? As big as this dude is,
And then I'm seeing the same thing happening with Jake,
something like how does that make sense?
Speaker 3 (27:10):
So that was really really nerve reckoned.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
And then for there to be no Shenanikins at the end,
and real One is able to have Jake something eat
defeat for the finisher, pin him cleanly in the middle
of the ring one two three size difference and everything
(27:34):
ah doesn't compute doesn't compute. I don't know who was
in charge of booking that match. Wasn't a fan of
how that was laid out at all. Was not a
fan of that at all. Now maybe some people can say, oh, well, lead,
they kind of ran out a little bit on time
or whatever. Audio issues was definitely very apparent during the
(28:00):
pre show that would leak on to the actual pay
per view card.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
Some visual issues as well.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
Actual pay per view We go now. Mustafa al Lee
defeating Cedric Alexander Singles Match, fourteen minutes, thirty seconds. Good
God Almighty, This was a fantastic opener. This was one
of a halfful of favorites I enjoyed for the entire night.
(28:29):
Really great back and forth and chemistry between Musafa Ali
and Cedric Alexander. Cedric Alexander has gotten thicker, and I
mean that in the most respectful way. I mean and
in the most respectful way, he's gotten bigger. I mean this, dude,
(28:50):
is starting to look like a damn powerhouse.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
Now.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
I almost didn't recognize him either, because when you first
came out, you know, dreads are covering his face and everything,
and then I'm remembering, well, not for nothing, I haven't
seen him and.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
Quite a while.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
And you know, there was some rumblings going on out
there that maybe he was going to be joining the
AEW promotion and maybe reunite with MVP and all of them,
but just did not come to be.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
But man, what a match.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Honestly, you know, we've seen these guys lock up before,
so when you hear Mustafa Ali, Cedric Alexander, you can
never do wrong with these guys locking up in everything.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
But this was a fun match.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
A little bit too much interference for my personal taste.
And this was one of if I'm not mistaken, four
to five matches where especially back to back, but there
was a little bit of breaking the monopoly where we
saw somebody going over the top rope to basically crash
(30:01):
into an individual or a group of people. We gotta
dow that back. Not every single match needs to have
a dive over and then you're crashing into someone or
a group of people. But it was happening way too
much then I could personally care for. Okay, I don't
know if you guys had noticed that as well, but
(30:22):
I'll tell you what. When Mustafa a Lee did the
dive in between the ropes to crash into Alexander, I
legit got scared through Mustafa because if you go and
you check out some video clips on social media, you'll
see that Mustafa actually when he did the dive in
between the ropes, he landed a little bit funny on
(30:46):
his head slashed and the way his neck kind of
contort it there, you're just going, ah, yeah, dude, because
like immediately you see one of the guys that was
essentially supposed to catch him break the fall, all try
to hurry up and check in make sure he was okay,
and like Mustafa just popped up. No sold that mofo.
(31:08):
That was pretty pretty scary, I got to admit. But
the match continued on. Fantastic start to the show. Enjoyed it,
enjoyed the good stuff. Meanwhile, the system, Yo, I need
to know how they came up with that name. I
really really need for them to tell me how they
(31:30):
came up with that name. And I have a feeling
somebody in that group, if not all of them, is
a big fan of eighties pop music, because let me
tell you something, every time I hear The System, I
think about that band from back in the day called
The System. Now, for you younger folks out there, look
(31:52):
up this song right type in the System, don't disturb
this groove, you'll thank me later. Badass song. And then
there was another popular song that they had, You're in
My System, which the late Robert Palmer did a remake of,
really did a fantastic job making it be his own,
(32:15):
to the point the band liked his version so much
they actually played some of the instrumentals for his version.
So I'm just wondering, like, Okay, that's a very distinct
like who in that band, that little faction of the
System who likes the group the System. I think I
might be on the something there. But anyway, The System
taken on Matt Cardona and Dark State Dark State as
(32:41):
we know n XT Dark State. For me, it just
hasn't been clicking on all cylinders. I think, honestly, it's
been off to a bit of a rough start. You know,
it is what it is. But there's one guy in
that group that reminds me a lot of Sammy Zane.
(33:08):
I don't know if it's Brandon Cutler. I might not
even have the name correct because a lot of these
people I'm seeing for the first time. And by the way,
it was so weird watching all of these faction names
come at me just from the pre show and then
going into the actual pay per view and it's like, Okay,
who are these guys? What the hell are these guys about?
How long have these guys been together? Like give me
(33:31):
some key milestones, because like, I wish that Tom Hanniken
And I'm trying to think of the other color commentator's name.
See I know him as aid in English, So you
guys gotta forgive me, because.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
That's that's how I remember him.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
But I didn't really feel like we were getting enough
backdrops for all of these different factions and at least
three bullet points and helping us understand what these respected
factions are all about out and everything, but system Matt
Cardona picking up a win. I mean, this was a
very short match, one of two shortest matches of this
(34:13):
entire card. Quite honestly, not enough meat on these bones
for this match. You know, Lisia got to see two
Long Island guys connected to New York in there right,
the winning team whatever, Okay? Cool. Meanwhile, Tessa Blanchard taking
(34:38):
on Indie Hartwell, and we had the beautiful and the
lovely Alicia Fox now going by her real name Victoria Crawford,
Victoria Crawford pretty much in the corner there. For Tessa Blanchard,
this was a rough match. This was a rough match.
(34:58):
I gotta tell you, I love me some Indie Heartwell.
I do. I thought, and I still feel that as
far as WWE releases go, she had no business being
released by the WWE. They should have continued to just
you want to talk about properly, underutilized, misutilized. Definitely Indie Heartwell.
(35:22):
Some of the timing in this match was off, and
it wasn't because of Tessa Blancher. You know, you could
see a lot of times invisibly, you could see the
frustration on Tessa Blancher's face as Indy Heartwell was doing
some stuff that you're going Indy like. It's clear as
(35:44):
day that whatever Indy was trying to do that wasn't
what she was supposed to do. And you can see Tessa,
you know a little upset, but not to the point
where she's losing her cool and she's being reckless. But
you can see her face basically steer Indy in the
right direction. I even remember there was this one particular
(36:06):
spot where there was some type of a flip that
had occurred, like Indy was going for a move and
then somehow Tessa counter did, and Tessa was trying to
somehow take that counter and turn it into a power
bomb in the ring basically, and Indy wasn't moving. I
(36:27):
guess maybe Indy thought it wasn't time for her to
do whatever, And you can see Tessa like legit hit her,
and I guess that was kind of her letting the
Q be known. No, no, no, you're supposed to take
this move, and Indy just relaxes afterwards. But there was
a lot of miscues in this one, and sometimes it
(36:50):
can be good when you're seeing these kind of miscues, right,
especially if you're seeing a handful of them, But then
after a while you kind of go get your shit
together off ready, right, And I was almost at that
borderline Indy, whatever's going on?
Speaker 3 (37:04):
Like like I've.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
Seen for many years what she was doing in WWE,
so I don't know if she was having jitterbugs or what,
but this was the first time that I was able
to see of Indy where she just seemed kind of off.
Happens to everybody, right, Not everybody can have a good night,
A lot of us have off nights. But I give
(37:26):
Tessa Blanchard a lot of credit for, you know, trying
to make sure that she steered that match in the
direction that it was supposed to go in.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
Right Woman one.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
As far as I was concerned, you want to definitely
continue to build up Indie Heartwill and her tenure here
in TNA Wrestling and everything. This was the right move
to make, especially given the fact that say what you
will about Tessa Blancherd, but Tessa Blanchard is someone that
(37:57):
has won championships across multiple promotions. Definitely a former Knockouts champion,
Definitely a former TNA World Heavyweight Champion. And you can
for the latter part, you can put whatever little asterisk
by it. But if you're just going from strictly a
storyline standpoint, yeah, Andy Hartwell coming in picking up a
(38:20):
w here over Tessa Blancherd, that's really really good. I
think the right Woman won, especially if it means that
Indy Hartwell does move one step closer to eventually getting
a shot for the TNA Knockouts title and everything, especially
if it means she gets to chase after j C.
Jane right, then it's a good especially if she's gonna
(38:43):
continue to remain in that babyface role Andy Hartwell I'm
talking about. Of course, she had a nice amount of
Tesla Blanchard. She's a racist chance. What are you gonna do?
What are you gonna do? It's crazy to me. I
(39:04):
don't want to go on a dire tribe about that,
but I will just say this. The Rosa n Negra,
the person that counts the most, spoke with Tesla blancherd
years back water under the bridge like Rosa Negra can't
forgive her and everything is kumbai ya and you know it.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
You know it sucks.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
It sucks.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
What's going on. That's all I'm saying. It sucks.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
I wish people like if you want to say, nah,
TNA shouldn't give this person another chance, because look at
all of these other opportunities that she pretty much wasted
away because she got a big hit on her shoulders.
Look what she did over you know, not for nothing,
but she Look how she burned TNA Wrestling when it
counted the most. Look At what happened when she you know,
(39:51):
went back and was wrestling in Mexico or whatever. How
that pretty much squandered that opportunity. Look at how she
squandered her opportunity over and women of wrestling. Man, why
would TNA Wrestling even do? Like, if you want to
stick to me with those, I'd be like, yo, your
own point, your on point. Do I believe that Tessa
Blanchard is a racist? No, I don't believe that she's
(40:15):
a racist. What I do believe is she used a
word that she probably was very comfortable using around the people,
definitely who she was dating or who she has dated
in the past, definitely leading up to when she got engaged.
I think that it's a situation where and everybody don't
(40:36):
even try to lie because you know, you got that
one friend that when you all get together, the profanity
that y'all be using, and you know, you got certain
words that you throw out there. I think it was
kind of one of those things where Tessa, you know,
really you got a little too comfortable there, honey, Right,
(40:56):
that's pretty much in a nutshell. It sucks, it is
what it is. But anyway, Right Woman won in this one.
Final moments of this matchup Indy kicking out of a
of a near fall. Blanchard looked on, I love the
way she sold when Indy kicked out.
Speaker 3 (41:18):
I mean she act like she heard a.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
Gunshot or something. I love it. Then Tessa started kicking
the hell out of Indy, talking some mad trash, slapping
the hell out of her. Indy connects with the Hurts
donut onto the ropes, followed up with another one as
she basically caught Tessa off the ropes when she hit
the first Hertz Donut hit her with the other one
(41:42):
went in for the cover.
Speaker 3 (41:43):
One, two three. That pretty much was it.
Speaker 2 (41:45):
Right Woman went over in this matchup as far as
I was concerned. From there, GM Miller tried to go
in and congratulate Andy Hartwell wanted to know what's next.
I was ready to hear I'm going to Disney World,
and he said, yo, I just beat a former Knockouts champion.
But then Tessa attacks her. Even Alicia Fox there, Victoria Crawford,
(42:13):
even she was getting in on some of the physical action,
but Tessa was beating the leaving hell uh the Ga
Miller Boy talk about a uncomfortable situation there as we
see Santino Morella, he catches up to Tessa and says
to her, what the hell were you thinking? Like she's
(42:34):
not even a wrestler, right, It's like she's not even
a wrestler, Like, what are you doing putting your hands
on her? Not only did he eject her, but he
will reveal later on. To Heal's point in the chat,
Tessa Blanchard would get suspended in Definitely, You're gonna be
interesting to see what happens with the upcoming programming for
(42:56):
Impact as far as if Tessa's going to show up,
she's gonna undermine Santino's authority. But because she didn't care
about being ejected from the arena by Santino, but maybe
she's going to care now that she's been suspended indefinitely.
We'll have to wait and see how that plays up. Remember,
(43:16):
earlier I was talking about there was a lot of
audio issues they definitely continued on during the actual pay
per view, Definitely some directorial issues as well. There was
an ash By elegance backstage segment where we could see
as clear as day most importantly, here we can hear
(43:36):
the floor manager who or whoever is telling them to
get ready. Here we go, Here we go, like we're
getting ready, here we go, and you can see ash
by Elegance trying to hype themselves up, and they're like
looking off in the space trying to figure out, okay,
do I got this line down. I just felt really
bad for them because they got they got dropped in
(44:02):
on a little bit too soon. You even heard the
countdown for them and everything. It was pretty hilarious. Meanwhile,
title versus title winner takes all match Masha Slimovic, current
NA Knockouts Women's Champion taking on NXC Women's Champion j
C Jane j C Jane for the first time in history. Boy,
(44:31):
we got ourselves a double champion. We got a double
TNA and WWE current champion. Like that is unpresent, Like
we've never heard of that before, Like I've been doing
this a long time, like never before. And j C
Jane made some history here as she is now your
(44:53):
new Knockouts Champion while also still holding on to that
NXT Women's Championship. Numbers game played a factor. Remember, at
one point the referee actually had got taken out. Nice
little spot that went down referee. A second referee had
to come in. By the time a pen attempt was made,
(45:17):
there was already a kickout and everything from there just
moving on a little bit later on, finally to try
to even up things, Zaya Brookside and Zaya Lee coming
to even up the odds against the other members there
in fatal influence. Meanwhile, Masha connecting with a kick takes
(45:41):
out the ref. Slow poal snow plow by Masha.
Speaker 3 (45:49):
No ref.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
Ref comes out there. Remember I was saying two refs.
That's where you happened right here. Marsha tries looking for
the recreem, but Jane connect with a jackknife pen. Rolling
encore is followed or is countered rather by Mamasha before
the rolling encore by j C. Jane, which pretty much
(46:12):
connects gets her to victory. Now she's walking out with
two titles, Jay Z Jane double champion. Right here, you
got some outside interference, Yeah, you definitely have some shenanikins
that was going on in this matchup with out a doubt,
but putting that to the side, and look not for
another thing. We've been watching the NXT product. We know
(46:34):
how this goes. Now, one can make up the argument, Yo,
why didn't TNA Wrestling and NXT, why didn't they try
to go with a Yo, these people are banned from ringside,
like what the hell? But then you can kind of
counter and say, well, not for nothing. But at the
end it was balanced out a little bit because you know,
(46:54):
we had all these little things that was going on
outside the ring. I like how they seriously just disappeared
too when it counted. The most I actually was was
a little bit funny and everything, But I walked away
from this. You know, look, I think that for twenty
twenty five j C Jane, and you just think about
(47:17):
where her character was last year and just where her
character is currently, Like, I gotta be honest with you,
I'm not gonna I'm not gonna lie. I'm not gonna lie.
At one point, I thought, with a lot of those
bus flips that was happening in WWE, I honestly was
under the impression that jac Jane was gonna be part
(47:37):
of that flip that I think she deserved. No, because
my whole thing was, well, let's see what she can
really do if you give her an opportunity to really
stand out on her own and everything, and I'm glad
that things are going the way that they're that they're
going for her and everything. Masha Slamovich definitely the real
(47:59):
MVP in this match. Very rare, very far in between
that I get to see some of her matches and everything,
but when I do, she's never been a disappointment. Continues
that streak here in this one. So loved what was
going on here. This was good. So of course, you know,
(48:21):
if you're WWE, you're looking at this and you're going, Yo,
that's what's up. Score one for WWE. How about that
main event match though, we'll talk about that in a
hot second. If you guys been enjoying yourselves so far,
doing me a huge favor. In case you are just
now tuning in for one night only, we're bringing back
(48:42):
Impact Showdown. It's a very beloved series that I used
to do years back. Yere's in years back, we would
cover all things TNA wrestling on Impact Showdown. That was it.
It used to be so cool when we had people
that would try to pop up and they would try
to talk WWE and we'd be like, no, this is
all TNA. Sorry. So it's nice to bring this show back. So,
(49:05):
like all I got to say, you appreciate what we're
doing so far. If you haven't already thumbs up all
that shit, you know what to do, like all that,
subscribe all that jazz and look, if the demand is
out there, it really grows. I will definitely consider bringing
the series back on a more regular basis. Is you
(49:27):
guys dictating, You guys are dictating? All right, we still
got the TNA Slammer Verse repoll. That's going to be
coming up later on too, by the way, so we
have not revealed the results of that just yet, so.
Speaker 3 (49:39):
Stick around for that.
Speaker 2 (49:39):
Moving along, TNA X Division Championship, Moose losing it to
Leon Slater, Europe's finest who now becomes the youngest TNA
X Division champion in the company's history, going down at
(50:01):
the fifteen minute mark. Yo, this was balls out, insane,
stupidly fun.
Speaker 3 (50:10):
I love this match.
Speaker 2 (50:13):
What I would, man, I gotta say this, I don't
know if it's happened yet, so you guys gotta forgive me.
If it has happened, feel free to leave a comment
let me know what your thought about it. If it's
already happened. But I'm just thinking about Leon Slater taking
on Javon Evans. That would be a killer. Let me
(50:36):
see those two guys one on one X Division match.
Make it happen at Boundful Glory. How about that?
Speaker 3 (50:44):
Let me see that.
Speaker 2 (50:45):
I think that would be a phenomenal, phenomenal match. But man, Moose,
just the shit that these guys were doing in this one.
You know, when I think about all the years that
I watched the TNA product and I think about the
X Division, I witnessed in real time those periods of
(51:09):
the X Division where all right, seems like the X
Division is all about these light cruiserweight guys that's fighting
for this championship. And then, you know, I remember the
Bruce Pritchard period where it was, well, what exactly is
the X Division? What exactly is this? You know? And
(51:31):
then the next thing, you know, because Bruce Pritchard didn't
understand it, you know, and it was kind of like,
let's just let's just treat this like an intercontinental championship.
And of course I remember when Big Sexy Kevin Nash
was pushing the X Division belt for a little bit. Basically,
I say all this to say it's had its growing pains,
and it's had some really cool fun moments and everything.
(51:54):
I loved seeing a modified hybrid version of the whole
David versus Goliath. You can never do wrong with that blueprint.
You can never do wrong with that blueprint. And you
had the right participants on this night, between Moose and
Leon Slater. I mean, there were times where Moose was
(52:15):
just knocking the damn head off of Slater's head off
his shoulders, knocking his head off his shoulders, and You're like, damn,
how is this kid even going to recover? And then
this kid was just doing amazing stuff her karana's from
the top side apron or doing her a korana outside
(52:35):
the ring. I remember there was this sick ass, insane
spot where Slater was inside the ring and he runs
and leaps over the corner posts, crashes outside leg going
into the face of Moose, and You're like, Wow, this
kid's got some serious hangtime. I mean, he was going
(52:59):
Michael Jordan hangtime with some of his crazy ass moves. Man.
I loved it his Swan tom Bomb tribute to the Hardy's,
but then his four fifty Swan time man insane insaying
that kid is very talented extremely gifted. I love this.
(53:21):
This was a nice back and forth between both of
these easily as far as Guilty Pleasure goes one of
my favorite matches of the night. And as somebody that
is looking at the TNA wrestling product having not watched
it regularly a long time and just okay, is this
(53:43):
somebody I want to watch on a weekly basis the
Leon Slater kid, I'm going, yeah, I love what I see.
I want to see more of this dude. That's what's
so because I already know what Moose is capable of. We
were doing Impact Showdown long enough States singing the praises
of Moose, so I already know what this dude is
capable of, and that how close he came there to
(54:07):
coming into a WWE signing with WWE on the regular.
But never say never some things, you know, there's still
hope for UWW fans or TNA fans, there's still some hope.
So Moose's classy move after the match was over handing
Slater the championship belt but doing it properly, putting it
(54:31):
around his waist, giving him his dabs, and rolling out.
Speaker 3 (54:35):
But then we get the moment.
Speaker 2 (54:38):
The moment got to pull A. I'm trying to think
of that. I'm trying to think of that group. Oh man,
the group's name is not coming to me right now.
As a musical group. You dropped a bomb on me.
We finally got the bomb that we were waiting for.
AJ Styles making his return, coming now to the classic
(55:00):
get ready to fly theme. I can't tell you how
hard I popped when I saw AJ come out there
pushing that theme that I met.
Speaker 3 (55:11):
I used to hit that theme hard back in the day.
Speaker 2 (55:15):
AJ Styles back for the very first time in a
TNA ring in eleven years. It's amazing how time flies
and newer listeners, newer wrestling fans. You guys have no idea,
no idea. But when all the shit went down with
(55:35):
AJ Styles and TNA Wrestling, it was one of the
ugliest breakups in wrestling history, and it definitely changed the
trajectory overall of TNA wrestling. Just how say what you
will about CM Punk, but just how things were just
(55:55):
at a certain level with CM Punk being there, the
excitement and just the overall domino effect let's see you
Punk had with the aw product, and then once he
left just kind of seemed like things went in a
direction for the longest time of hit scratching WTF.
Speaker 3 (56:15):
Same thing with AJ Styles.
Speaker 2 (56:19):
I don't want to bore you guys with the long
revisionist history, but what I can tell you for a
more definitive look into everything that went down with AJ
and why his run in TNA ended so badly, there
was a couple of shoot interviews that he participated in.
(56:42):
There was one that he did with Rob Feinstein of
R Video Now Signed by Superstars shout out to him.
He actually was at the event. He was pretty excited
to check it out. But AJ Styles did an interview
with him, and then AJ did an interview with the
guys over at High Spots, and those two shoot interviews
(57:04):
I did review. It is available on the YouTube channel.
Just type in AJ Styles Shoot Interview RCWR show and
you'll be able to find it that way. And those
definitively tell you all you need to know about what
was going on with AJ in TNA wrestling and all that.
(57:24):
So definitely it put a warm smile on my face
seeing him back in TNA. It was almost like, speaking
as an older music fan, it was almost like when
the Eagles reformed, you know, and they started doing their
hell freezes over tour and all that. It kind of
felt like that, like, wow, I never thought we'd see
AJ back in a but you know, when you really
(57:48):
take a step back and you think about it. Not
for nothing, but TNA was trying to do something with
AJ styles.
Speaker 3 (57:56):
What was it?
Speaker 2 (57:56):
At least as recent as last year, not the year before.
They were trying to induct AJ into the TNA Hall
of Fame, and AJ declined his whole thing was, you know, hey,
not for nothing. I'm still wrestling. You know, maybe when
I'm no longer active, then yeah, I would definitely entertain
(58:18):
the idea of doing a Hall of Fame induction, But
like right now, I'm still doing my thing, so you
can respect that. You can definitely respect that. So yeah,
but it was interesting to hear how so many people
were going, God damn that WWE. They're not letting him
go get inducted. And remember I was right here on
(58:39):
this show. I told you guys, I said, nah, I
think there's more to this at play. Maybe AJ just
felt the timing wasn't right, And sure.
Speaker 3 (58:48):
Enough, that's exactly what was the case.
Speaker 2 (58:50):
AJ coming out paying it forward, putting over Leon Slater
talking about how Leon Slater, you know, currently being the
new TNA X Division champion. That's what's up. Letting Slater
know you don't deserve it, you earned it, and telling
(59:14):
them straight up, let it sink in. You're the youngest
ex Division champion in TNA history. And for AJ, it
made him realize why he loves TNA. It's because of
guys like Leon Slater who make AJ love what he
(59:34):
loves and it's really cool. It's a really cool moment
that AJ had their AJ also reminiscing about how the
X Division was when guys like him, Frankie Kazarian, Christopher Daniels,
Jerry Lynn, Amazing Red Samoa Joe were there, and just
the evolution of it to where he is now. As
(59:55):
far as AJ styles is concerned, in a nutshell, the
X Division is in really good hands with talented acts
like Leon Slate, Leon Slater. Fans were fans were wondering
if AJ was going to be doing one more match
for TNA, and AJ told them straight up, look, let's
(01:00:20):
talk about Leon Slater here and we'll.
Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
Talk about that later.
Speaker 2 (01:00:25):
That later did not happen in that same segment, by
the way, because you know, it was kind of weird
because after it was all said and done, you thought
that maybe AJ was going to announce something else because
AJ's music played while Leon made his exit and he's
celebrating holding up the title and you're just kind of going,
wait a minute, didn't they just play the wrong music
(01:00:46):
because AJ should still be talking here, right. It was
just kind of weird. But eventually AJ giving deuces to
the crowd rolling out. I thought for sure maybe somebody
was going to attack him, like if anything. I know
we've had this back and forth that's been going on
with Dominique mysterio. I thought for sure, maybe a maxed
individual was going to come out attack AJ from behind.
(01:01:07):
Nice little continuation you got going on there between AJ
and Dom. I thought for sure, maybe that's what we were
going to be doing.
Speaker 3 (01:01:13):
But no, that's not what happened whatsoever.
Speaker 2 (01:01:21):
So AJ though, really cool, really cool. Love love seeing
that guy, and to heal in the chat. Okay, Peace,
I don't know what his problem is, but yeah, Peace,
it's not like I'm not ignoring you guys. It's just
(01:01:41):
we're here, we're having fun, we're doing our thing, We're
rolling with it.
Speaker 3 (01:01:44):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
We had a couple more matches to talk about. Let's
go ahead and let's get to it. TNA. Oh, by
the way, as far as AJ, I want to address
this real quick for those of you that's wondering in
regards to AJ, will he be wrestling in TNA. Yeah,
I think look, let tonight. If you weren't convinced after tonight,
(01:02:12):
hopefully it really has sinked in that AJ is definitely
going to be doing some work in TNA wrestling. Right Like,
whatever issues that AJ had in the past with TNA,
understand something. It was a different regime that was in place,
and things have changed drastically since then and it's changed
(01:02:35):
for the better. So AJ wrestling in TNA, it's definitely
going to happen. If I were to put some type
of a timetable on when AJ is going to be
doing something, that's a good question, honestly. Honestly, I'm thinking
(01:02:56):
by the end of this year, if not first quarter
twenty twenty five, AJ should be doing something. Now as
far as who potentially it could be, thinking about how
things had played out with the main event match and
Frankie Kazarian being on guest commentary, and he was asked
by the commentary crew, Hey, what are your thoughts about
(01:03:18):
seeing you know, longtime friend rival and AJ styles coming back.
How cool of emotional night that was, How cool of
a moment that was seeing AJ back in TNA. Frankie
Kazarian telling them straight up, I do have thoughts on that,
But those thoughts I'm gonna keep to myself. I'm not
going to talk about that right now. There's a time
(01:03:39):
in the place for it. But ressa short I'll be
addressing AJ's return and in their future. Now Frankie could
have been going in business for himself, or maybe some
seeds has already been planted, and maybe AJ eventually is
gonna do something with Frankie Kazarian. It's it's very possible.
(01:04:02):
It's very possible. It's also possible that if this.
Speaker 3 (01:04:06):
Great momentum picks up with.
Speaker 2 (01:04:09):
Leon, you know, as the X Division champion, It's very
well possible that maybe eventually we see AJ and Leon
go at it for the X Division championship.
Speaker 3 (01:04:22):
That's also possible. So I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:04:25):
It's it's kind of one of those deals where you're like,
anything can happen, right But for me personally, I mean,
there's a list of guys I would I would love
to see AJ Russell and TNA just off the break.
I'm definitely putting Leon Slater at the top of my list.
I would love to see AJ and Moose. I think
(01:04:47):
they would have a really cool kick ass match those guys.
I also would love to see Ace Austin and AJ
styles Ace A. That's amazing what has happened with Hace
Austen like just the And for those of you that's curious,
Tasha Steeles. You know we were talking about Mustafa Ali
(01:05:12):
and Cedric Alexander earlier. I got to make sure I
get this in Tasha Steels. For those of you that
are curious, you know she's been now. She was dealing
with some nagging injury and she pretty much has been
rehabbing that and all that. There is a sick, insane
spot that I loved in that Cedric Alexander Mustafa Al
(01:05:33):
match where Tasha Steeles got in there and Cedric did
the lumbard check on her and the way she bounced
off of that motherfucker and sold that. I loved it.
That told me all I needed to know as far
as Homegirl, she's coming along. We're gonna see her back
in the ring. A lot sooner rather than later. So
(01:05:54):
for those of you that are Tasha Steeles fans like me,
and you're like, I don't really know if I'm really
feeling her. With this whole stuff of a league group
and all that just kind of had that in the
in the back of you all's head. We only got
two more matches to talk about, by the way, then
we're gonna get to those Poland results. TNA World Tag
(01:06:17):
Team Titles Ladder match, Ryan and Nick Neimath defending against
the Hardy's First Class and the Rascals. We got new
TNA Tag champions in the Hardy's for the fourth time
in their TNA career. Matt and Jeff Hardy are your
(01:06:41):
TNA World Tag Champions. Yeah, it's interesting, man, It's it's
funny because number one, I think about, I'm happy for
the Hardys. By the way, I'm more specifically happy for
Jeff Hardy because whatever was going on with Jeff Hardy
(01:07:03):
and WWE and whatever was going on with Jeff Hardy
and ae W, it just seems like now as far
as even more maturity kicking in continuing to stay in
the path of sobriety, being drug free, Jeff, it seems
like he's really finally figured it out. He's conquering his demons,
(01:07:28):
and so it puts a smile on my face to see, Hey,
check out this nostalgia over here. This is what's hip again,
this is what's fresh again. Right, It's kind of got
one of those type of vibes going on and all that. So,
(01:07:49):
you know, I'm happy to see them as the TNA
Tag champions, but I can't help but wonder, Okay, what
exactly does do future hold for these guys as the
champions going forward? Because, as somebody that grew up watching
Matt and Jeff Hardy do death defying insane crazy Tony Hawk,
(01:08:15):
I mean, we think that some of the stuff that
Darby Allen is that less nothing compared to what the
Hardy's was doing. I mean, they took at least fifteen
years easily, and I'm sure Matt Hardy with a test
to that they took at least fifteen years physically off
of their bodies with the insane amount of shit that
(01:08:35):
they used to do back in the day. So you
know the fact that honestly, these guys are even still
alive in twenty twenty five and beyond and they're still
with us. That is just really a powerful testament. This
was an amazing match, by the way, some crazy spots,
you know, not for nothing, but even Big Aj Francis,
(01:08:58):
I know, he gets a lot of he gets a
lot of hate online, he gets he gets, he gets
a lot of shit. He gets a lot of shit.
But even even he shined a bit in some of
these insane spots that they were doing. This was a
crash fest. This was a beautiful crash fest. And I
don't know about you, but sometimes I like a match,
especially a multi batch like this where I'm just watching
(01:09:20):
a bunch of bodies go through some crazy shit. Now,
I gotta tell you, I got a concern for Jeff
Hardy going towards the end because Jeff ended up grabbing
this ladder. And it was cool how this ladder was
introduced because we see Jeff, he's around the ramp area
(01:09:40):
and he pulls out this device and you're going, what
is this guy about to do? Is he about to
like is he about to like introduce some spikes? Is
he about to introduce some barbed wire? Is he about
to introduce some flames? What's what's going on here? Because
you see this little device in his hand, and you're wondering,
what's he getting ready to do here? And then he
(01:10:00):
finally presented it, and you're wondering, Okay, what exactly did
he just do? What were we about to get? And then
you just see this nice, funny ass helicopter ladder drop
that's what I call it. Was like a helicopter ladder.
It just drops, and you're going, oh, it is that
kind of match, isn't it. You gotta reach and grab
(01:10:21):
the titles, like you almost forgot what type of match
this was because they were just doing all kinds of
crazy and same shit with each other. And it's funny
how that ladder eventually came into play for the Hardys
to get the championship and everything, but that dropped down
ladder from the roof. AJ Francis damn near killing himself
(01:10:46):
in this match. All of it just beautiful stuff. I
loved it. But wait, but wait, Bully Ray comes out.
Keep in mind, in New York, it was like eighty
two eighty three degrees and we got Bully Ray coming
out there wearing a freaking black baseball hat, black collar shirt,
(01:11:09):
black jeans, black leather jacket. I immediately looked up what
was going on with the weather out there? Because I'm going,
wait a minute, like, why is this guy? Like I
remember back in my day, I was in my Johnny
Cash phase and I would stay wearing all black. I'm going,
but even I never pushed a leather jacket in the summertime.
(01:11:29):
You know, I would wear T shirts, jeans, whatever. But
like even I had my limbs, I'm going, wait a minute,
why is Bully Ray pushing the leather jacket? Hey? Three
degrees out there? Like, okay, whatever, whatever, You're just trying
to look cool. Okay, dude, I'm so what do you got?
Why are you here? Bully Ray showing up postmatch? Long
(01:11:51):
drawn out segment too. We really should have trimmed this
particular segment down big time. In a nutshell, Bully Ray
chotlenges the Hardy's one more match against Team three D
at Bound for Glory, to which the fans were chanting
where is Devon? Bully Ray addresses them. He says, that's
(01:12:12):
a very good question, but one thing's for certain. One
more time I'll be saying at Bound for Glory against you,
the Hardys, Divon get the table. What do you say
you boys? Up for one last match. Hardy's agreed, So Sunday,
October twelfth, bound for glory in Massachusetts, Hardy's.
Speaker 3 (01:12:37):
Team three D. That's the match we're gonna get.
Speaker 2 (01:12:40):
You know, I get that TNA realizing they had a
lot of eyes on them with tonight's product, and at
many points throughout the night they were trending number one.
So and that's cool. You want to try to capitalize
on that and everything. But here's the thing. Here's the thing.
(01:13:01):
You're talking about a pay per view event that's not
gonna be going down for three plus months, and you
can't help but ask yourself, are we even sure that
the Hardy's are still gonna be the TNA champions by then?
Or it doesn't matter, tag belts are no tag belts.
We're just guaranteed this match one last time between these
(01:13:22):
two historic teams. You guys, sound off, let me know.
I mean, would you like to see this for the
tag titles or is this a case where the tag
titles don't matter to you.
Speaker 3 (01:13:32):
You just want to see the match.
Speaker 2 (01:13:33):
Sound off?
Speaker 3 (01:13:34):
Let me know what you guys think about that.
Speaker 2 (01:13:36):
One. Meanwhile, main event match, TNA World Title Trick Williams
successfully defending against Joe Hendry and Mike Santana. First of
all the entrances, although Trick Williams had the best fucking entrance.
Speaker 3 (01:13:57):
Yeah, the best entrance. Mike Santana.
Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
I mean, my god, Mike Santana was getting the jay
Uso treatment. I'm not exaggerating. I mean this was.
Speaker 3 (01:14:08):
Long and drawn.
Speaker 2 (01:14:09):
Now, the guy that usually sings his official theme was
out there and they just kept over and over. They
must have did like at least ten loops of his
theme song. But yeah, they had him going through the
crowd just like jay Uso and everything. I was chuckling
at one point, I'm going, look, he's good, but he
ain't the yeat man, like come on now. He's good.
(01:14:30):
It's like, but he ain't the heat man. He don't
deserve a fifteen minute entrance, like come on now. And
then we had Joe Hendry, Joe Henry, the usual stuff,
But Trick Williams. As far as entrances of the night,
Trick Williams had the entrance of the night. He had
the Harlem choir. Oh my god, I'm dying here, man.
(01:14:53):
He had the harlem choir. Okay, a church choir, Yo,
you don't get no more gospel than this man. They
was doing a nice a capella version of Whoop that trick, Yo.
I'm trying to find that on social media. I was
trying to find that so I could play it for
you guys. I was not able to find it before
(01:15:16):
I went on air. I'm hoping somebody posts that in
its entirety because I never laughed so hard in my life.
But at the same time, I was bobbing my head
to that. I got to have that on Spotify because
that was a damn good version. I loved it. You
guys got to look that up, assuming it's maybe on
(01:15:36):
YouTube or something. You gotta look that up. Some hilarious shit.
But he had the entrance of the night. I love
the fact that in this matchup, compared to what was
going on with the winner takes All Knockouts NXT Women's Championship.
I love the fact that this match did not have
(01:15:59):
any interferce pearance. This was all about, yo, these three guys.
Let the best man win. I appreciated that, and honestly
it was rightfully deserved. All said and done here closing
moments of this match up. By the way, this was
a thirteen minute plus match. When it's all said and done,
(01:16:21):
thirteen plus minute match, So let's pick it up a
little bit. Towards the end, Hendry runs into Santana rolling
buck fifty outlining chalk to Hendry, followed by a cannonball
and then the cover. Hendry kicking out at two trick,
(01:16:44):
looking as though he is legit injured. As you got
officials checking in on him, and he's looking very very concerned.
He has this very daunting, kind of scared look on
his face. You're going, ooh, whatever's going on. That gets
fixed out right, because now you're starting, as you're seeing
this playoff before your eyes, you're starting to go, you know,
(01:17:05):
we very well could be looking at a new guaranteed
GNA champion here. But as the action continue, we get
a pop up power bomb from Hendri. DVD follows up.
Now you got Joe Henry really filling it.
Speaker 3 (01:17:23):
He's going into that end zone.
Speaker 2 (01:17:25):
He's stopping his feet, he's clapping his hands, you know
what's getting ready to come down. Here goes in for
the cover. Santana kicks out at too. Santana coming right
back headbutts Hendry spin the block another one cover, but
(01:17:46):
then Williams comes back from out of nowhere, throw Santana
out of the ring desperately and quickly, mind you covers Hendry,
keep that TNA championship. Trick Williams steal your TNA champion
(01:18:08):
Isn't this an amazing story? I mean, really, sit back
and think about this for a second. Isn't this amazing?
You have two men from think about this. You had
two TNA guys who had the right mindset when as
soon as the bell rang, they tried beating the holy
living you know what out of Trick Williams so that
(01:18:29):
he could be incapacitated and they could just focus indefinitely.
When it's all said and done, between the two of them,
the TNA Championship is going to stay in house. They
underestimated Trick Williams though. Trick Williams came in there with
with a game plan. He came in there with a
(01:18:50):
game plan when it was all said and done, solid
main event match, a little rough around the edges for
the most part. But obviously and linking this to TNA
and wwe'z ongoing relationship, I know, I'm trying to think.
I believe it might have been I believe it might
(01:19:13):
have been Eddie, one of our longtime listeners. It might
have been Eddie, or it might have been I'm trying
to think it. Actually, if it wasn't Eddie, it probably
was maybe Eric. But we had a longtime listener that
had talked about how TNA wrestling. There's been a lot
of times they've been doing live episodes of TNA im
(01:19:37):
PAC and we know that TNA when it's all said
and done, you know, as far as new episodes of Impact,
you know, either you're watching Access TV or you're trying
to gain access to the TNA Plus channel and watch
the newest episodes of TNA wrestling that way. I really
hope that before the year is how TNA Wrestling is
(01:19:59):
able to get some type of a new distribution deal
and all that going on. Look for the record, I
have no problem with the fact that we've got wwecats
that's pushing the TNA titles right now. I don't mind
that we've got WWE guys pushing these TNA titles and
(01:20:23):
creating that extra incentive for TNA wrestling fans to go, Yo,
I gotta watch this WWE product because I gotta know
what's going to happen with these respected titles and who
is going to come on over and try to challenge
these guys next to bring the titles over and then
not for nothing, But we have been continuing. Don't think
(01:20:47):
it's one sided, because I have paid attention enough to
the TNA product to also know that we stay having
NXT guys pop up on TNA programming.
Speaker 3 (01:20:59):
So don't think it's one side. And I know it looks.
Speaker 2 (01:21:02):
A little questionable right now because when you see what's
going on with the fact that, Yo, when it counts
the most, TNA ain't got no champion.
Speaker 3 (01:21:18):
Okay, they ain't got no champion right now?
Speaker 2 (01:21:22):
What the hell? Right? Like, I get that, But if
you're telling me that the long term storytelling that's happening
right now is for ultimately TNA to be put in
a better position where when it comes to their live
program and yo, we're always going to have something that's
(01:21:43):
going to happen, you know, each week, and more eyes
are going to be able to access that content as
opposed to, hey, you can only check it out on
Access TV or whatever that silly appy is of theirs
that they got right then, I'm totally down for especially
if it also means that with these WWE people that
(01:22:07):
are in place, you're essentially building up from the TNA
brand the individuals that you see eventually, Yo, these are
the people that are ultimately going to dethrone these WWE
cats and bring the TNA titles home. That way, it's
(01:22:28):
a more bigger deal. I've always been a firm believer in,
as you all know, the chase is better than the catch.
So the fact that you know we're going to have
some people chasing, so we've already talked about Indy Hartwell.
Speaker 3 (01:22:45):
I think Indy Heartwell.
Speaker 2 (01:22:46):
Is definitely in the right position, definitely the right baby face.
Speaker 3 (01:22:51):
Crowd loved her and everything.
Speaker 2 (01:22:53):
If you want to just put everything behind her, let
her be the one to ultimately chase after Jane and
all that. Yeah, I'm down with that. Looking at things
over on the men's side, you can definitely continue to
have Mike Santana because it really comes off like Mike
Santana is that guy. Okay, So if you want to
(01:23:18):
do that, yeah, sure you can definitely do that. If
you want to maybe circle to Moose, you could definitely
do that as well, or if you maybe want to
go in a completely other direction. You can definitely do
that as well. But TNA definitely, make no mistake about it.
They got options. It's just a matter of Okay, how
(01:23:42):
are they gonna how are they gonna do this? We
know how they're trying to benefit, but the real question
is how this is possibly being laid out? Is it
really gonna be executed like that? Right? One thing that
we can all be in agreement. When it came to
the AEW TNA relationship, that was extremely one side. We
(01:24:07):
can all be in agreement of that. It was extremely
one side right now. I also would agree with those
that want to push back and say, you know, well,
not for nothing. It just seems like whenever something is
up for grabs, TNA is not taking it home. You know,
they keep choking. I do agree with you all on that,
(01:24:29):
and we do need to break up the monopoly a
little bit there.
Speaker 3 (01:24:34):
Not for nothing right now. I am giving it now
for all I know.
Speaker 2 (01:24:39):
Maybe at some point, maybe a TNA tag team or individual,
maybe they did win something and it went over to
TNA for a hot minute. I don't think it did,
but if it did, let me and the rest of
the community know, so we can get caught up to speech.
Speaking of getting caught up, I'm going to pull up
the poland results now go to Twitter at the rc
(01:25:00):
DWR show and we also got the pulling results available
on YouTube dot com forward slash DRCWR Show.
Speaker 3 (01:25:06):
Let's see how you guys have voted over there.
Speaker 2 (01:25:09):
And as I am pulling this up, I want to
take this time out to thank the many of you
that are tuning in right now checking out this special
Sunday post show of Slammer Versary.
Speaker 3 (01:25:23):
Appreciate you, guys.
Speaker 2 (01:25:26):
Shout out to longtime following and listener Deonte, who said, dang,
it's going to be like this for a long time. Yeah,
he's following up on the louds she's a racist chance
in regards to Tessa Blanchard, because I had made a
(01:25:49):
observation about that particular scene during Tessa Blanchert's fight with
Indy Hartwell. I said, no matter how much time passes,
some things remained the same.
Speaker 3 (01:26:00):
Wolf I am.
Speaker 2 (01:26:02):
Yeah to the Aunte's point, Yeah, it's gonna be like
that for a long time.
Speaker 3 (01:26:05):
Like I don't think it's ever.
Speaker 2 (01:26:08):
She could be donating money to the Boys and Girls Club.
She could be you could say she got married, and
she is in an interracial marriage and has an interracial
child of a biracial child. The people are not gonna care.
They are not gonna care. That's that's the sad part, man.
(01:26:29):
They are not gonna care. She's forever gonna be a racist.
See what else we got here. Let's look at the
Poland results here all right, looking at Twitter right now? Interesting, Wow,
I think this has to do with the TNA Championships.
There we got forty three percent of you that's giving
(01:26:52):
TNA Slammer Versary a thumbs up. Meanwhile, Top Dog right now,
fifty six percent of you are giving it hey thumbs down.
Appreciate you guys that voted via Twitter at the RCWR show.
Let's see how you guys had ranked it over on
YouTube YouTube dot com force Slash the RCWR Show. You
(01:27:16):
haven't just subscribed over there yet, make sure you do.
We're always posting awesome content. You definitely want to check
out Monday's show. Monday's Show is gonna be the bomb.
We got a really cool unboxing that we're gonna be doing.
Speaker 3 (01:27:33):
Early voting.
Speaker 2 (01:27:34):
That's coming in early early voting, Like not even enough
to reveal the results right now.
Speaker 3 (01:27:41):
It's very very early.
Speaker 2 (01:27:42):
We'll see if it picks up within the next twenty
four hours. Looking at the Slammer Versary card, I'm now
going to give you my favorite match and least favorite match,
and then we'll give it a over. We're all rating
(01:28:02):
most favorite match. Oh Man, that's a tough one. Man,
that is a tough one. I think I'm gonna have
to go with It's a toss up, fan. It's a
toss up because on the one hand, I'm looking at
Leon Slater taking on Moose, and then on the other hand,
(01:28:24):
I'm looking at that Mustafa Lee and Cedric Alexander. So
ha ha, I gotta go with. Oh Man, that's a
tough one. I'm leaning more towards Leon Slater and Moose,
(01:28:46):
but I do want to at least give an honorable
mention to Mustafa and Alexander. I do want to give
at least an honorable mention to them. But I'll stick
with Leon Slater and Moose. Least favorite match, least favorite match,
least favorite match. This may be controversial, This may be controversial,
(01:29:12):
and Cutler James is who I was thinking about, I
said Brandon Cutler earlier.
Speaker 3 (01:29:16):
Cutler James.
Speaker 2 (01:29:20):
Ah, that's a tough one.
Speaker 3 (01:29:25):
That's a tough one.
Speaker 2 (01:29:26):
Honestly, Honestly, Mac Hardona in the system JDC taking on
Dark State, I honestly could have done without that match. Honestly,
match not needed. You could have taken that off the car.
I would have been fine. I would have been totally fine.
All the other matches perfect, would have been fine. Grade
(01:29:50):
mm overall grade. I would give this one a. Oh man,
this is a tough one. See, on the one hand,
I'm factoring in you had a lot of redundancy that
(01:30:10):
was going on with a lot of the matches. You know,
it was almost like the same blueprint, same three blueprints
that was happening in every single match. Notice when I
was talking about earlier, man, you had a dive. Almost
every match there was a dive. And it's like, chill man,
chill like because by the time you get to the
(01:30:32):
uh tag match there, the four way ladder match there,
it's like we don't already seen so much.
Speaker 3 (01:30:40):
It's taken away from those guys essentially.
Speaker 2 (01:30:42):
So so matches had too many shenanigans going on. I
am going to say a B minus a B minus
take away AJ styles in his You're definitely looking at
(01:31:04):
a C plus. You're looking at a C plus, and
to James in the chat, the car deserves at least
a B plus for sure. Yeah, Yeah, I'm definitely willing
to give it a B plus. I can't go higher.
I'm not going to go any lower. I'm not going
to go any lower. But I'm definitely willing to give
it a B plus. I think it's definitely looking at
(01:31:27):
a C minus to a C plus if you take
out AJ styles, like if for some weird reason, AJ
wasn't able to show up, then it's like, okay, well
you definitely lose some points right there. But yeah, I
would say a B plus. Have I seen better slammer versaries, yes,
but in the more recent years, I would definitely say
(01:31:48):
this was a very strong slammer verse free. It sucks
that a lot of people just ah TNA and they
slept on it, you know, or they're I don't, but like, man,
it's very interesting how in twenty twenty five. In twenty
twenty five, TNA has been continuing to build up quietly
(01:32:09):
this momentum, and I know we got aw fans that's
going no, no, no, it's actually a really good time.
To be watching the AW product again. I give them
props too. Within recent months, it seems like, especially now
that Moxley and crew are right, we got a hangman
and there's some other interesting stuff that's going on. I
(01:32:30):
watched AW Dynamite this past week. I haven't watched Collision yet,
but I liked what I was watching. It's like, okay,
let me see what's I'm not willing to do standalone
review shows for those guys, but I do love what
I was seeing from the TNA product tonight. It definitely
is gonna make me continue to poke my head in
(01:32:51):
and see what else is going on. Let's see if
we could check out some other reviews that's going online here,
just checking out some some random some random comments here.
I love this part of the show where we just
check out some random comments. I love me some random comments.
(01:33:19):
Just browsing online here. It doesn't even feel like a
Sunday night. By the way, shout out to Dash Impact Wrestling.
Salmon Slimmer Ursery was way better than it had any
right to be. WWE Extreme Rules. The horror show was
super weird because all the matches were good until the
(01:33:42):
end sequence, and then they all sucked, So I don't
know what the hell, what the hell that's about, but yeah,
I don't know what that's about, but you know, hey,
it's all, it's all good. Shout out to NT who
(01:34:03):
says that Slammer Versary and all in greater than Russell
Mania by far. Triple H wasn't even trying with Mania
this year, and it was quite obvious. I don't know,
he might he might be onto something. He might be
he might be onto something there. I kinda I gotta
(01:34:25):
feel him. Key Sean shout out to Key Sean. Santana,
what happened with Santana? Santana deserves better? I feel you,
I feel you on that with Santana does deserve better.
Santana does deserve better. Oh God, Even on social media,
there's not that much. There's not that much Slammer Versary.
(01:34:48):
That's how many people were sleeping on Slammer Versary. I'm curious.
Let's do this real quick. Let's go to my favorite site,
Cage Match, and let's see what people are are.
Speaker 3 (01:35:00):
Saying about Slammer Versary.
Speaker 2 (01:35:04):
So that's what we're hitting right now. And as I'm
pulling that up quick program, and note, we're going to
be live again Monday night Live after WWE Raw goes
off the air, you'll be able to catch dad, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook,
all that jazz. So yeah, this is a sleeper paper.
(01:35:29):
A lot of people slept on this. It's not me,
it's not look right down to the point. Some of
my colleagues in the podcasting world. I remember some of
them were even doing little live watch alongs for Slammer
Versary tonight and they were lucky if they could get
like almost twenty people to pop up. And these are
like guys that have been more established, you know, like
(01:35:53):
maybe by a handful of years, or maybe it's a
case where they have more subscribers than me, and like
consistently throughout their entire live hangouts, they only had like
about twenty people checking out.
Speaker 3 (01:36:06):
So this is a I can totally understand if.
Speaker 2 (01:36:08):
A lot of people were like, ah, I was just
waiting to hear what the usual podcasters or my favorite
wrestling site what they had to say about Slammer Versey
check this out. Though I'm on Cage Match. There's like
a couple of reviews that came in. Ooh, man, is
it harsh. I'm seeing nothing but like ones twos fours
right now, So let's see what's going on here without
(01:36:32):
reading the essay here shout out to Dark Order ninety
six gave it a one out of ten. This is bullshit.
In Bert Hard's voice, this was the perfect time to
crown Santana in his hometown. The story was right there.
Now they're waiting until Bound for Glory in front of
like a thousand people instead of pulling the trigger at
(01:36:55):
their biggest show. What the fuck, diabolical booking man. This
was Senta's moment and they totally blew it. Hilarious company, lmao.
At this point, TNA is a fucking dead horse. They
just keep kicking and hoping it twitches. Well, I feel
Dark Order. It sounds like a lot of his frustration
(01:37:16):
and anger is really just on the fact that they
didn't pull the trigger on Mike Santana in his hometown.
I mean, look, you all that have watched your wrestling
for years upon years upon years, there are those moments
in history wrestling history where, oh man, this is it,
Like it's so perfectly aligned. The hometown hero, he's gonna,
(01:37:39):
he's gonna, he's gonna do it. He's gonna and the
hometown hero comes up short, and usually you got the
hometown hero. Ah. Afterwards, I've let you guys down. I
let myself down, I let my family down, I let
my kids down. But I want to promise you all something.
Speaker 3 (01:37:58):
The next time you.
Speaker 2 (01:37:59):
See me back here in this arena, in this city,
in this state, I promise you I'm gonna be the
world heavyweight champion.
Speaker 3 (01:38:06):
Bank on it.
Speaker 2 (01:38:07):
And so you know, as I always like to say,
the chase is better than the catch. Not for nothing,
Mike Santana hasn't been chasing after the TNA World Heavyweight
Championship that long, at least not that I'm aware of.
If he's been chasing after it for like six seven
eight months, like y'all get me and the rest of
the community caught up to speed, okay, But you know,
(01:38:31):
I'm curious how his rating would have been if he
would have went on ahead and said, you know, okay,
Mike Santana, he's now a TNA champion. Now what you're
raiding in thoughts on the event, because it really just
seems like his whole load is on how Mike Santana
was handled here War one point thirty eight. This was
(01:38:52):
a colossal waste of time. As a jaded TNA fan,
this wasn't very impressive, and the TNA of old is dead.
First off, lots of production issues and botches which we
talked about, which isn't always a bad thing, but just
too many to ignore. I would agree with that to
a degree. Then we get to the terrible booking decisions.
(01:39:15):
Why was aj first appearance in a decade wasted on nothing?
Wasted on a nothing moment? Well, I don't think it
was a nothing moment. I don't think it was a
nothing moment at all. I think this was Look, if
you were looking for him to come back, you know,
(01:39:37):
hey I'm back, and I'm gonna do a match of
two or three and tie it Like no, no, you
got to do the slow burn. You got to do
the slow cooker, right, don't do the instant gratification. That's
the era that we're in now, we're in the instant gratification.
I still remember, perfect example, not being too long winded,
Glenn Ree walking Dead. I remember when they first time
(01:39:59):
it seemed like they killed his character.
Speaker 3 (01:40:01):
People were in an uproar.
Speaker 2 (01:40:03):
They were demanding to know if AMC had really killed him,
and all this other stuff. And you all remember how
that had played out, right, and the instant gratification that
the fans were basically given to reassure them, well, you know,
pretty much in Lama's terms. Yeah, Glenn isn't dead, but
you know, you'll just have to wait and see how
it all plays out. I know many of you wants
(01:40:26):
your cake and ice cream right there on the spot,
But first you gotta take your medicine. You gotta eat
your vegetables, you gotta eat that nasty liver or whatever.
But once you get through all that, then you can
have your dessert. Patience, let's keep going here, Gore continues.
Why did jac a mid level talent, become a double
(01:40:49):
champion when she barely won her whole career and why
did TNA waste a huge moment for Santana to put
over a NXT guy. But anyways, the work and all
the matches was nothing special, and honestly, only one match
was decent Movese versus Slater. Frankly, the the rest was
(01:41:11):
a slog to get through. TNA has lost its entire
identity thanks to the decisions of the bookers, and it
stinks won't be watching again anytime soon. It sucks that
gwar feels that way looking back at the entire car
Just to follow up one, you know, oh, the matches
(01:41:32):
you know, pretty much a bore. You know what he
was saying? Basically, Look, I didn't care for the three
pre show matches, so let's just eliminate all of those.
Mustafa Lee and Cedric Alexander.
Speaker 3 (01:41:43):
That was really good.
Speaker 2 (01:41:45):
The eight man tag match between Matt Cordona and the
System and JDC taking on Dark State. Already told you
guys a few minutes ago, I didn't care for that match.
Eliminate that. Andy Hartwell, Tessa Blanchard, Botches going on solid
matchup still, Jay z Jane taking on Marsha Slimovich. I
(01:42:06):
actually thought that was pretty good. Leon Slater moves definitely
the match of the night. Fatal four way for the
TNA World Tag titles. Nice fun crash tests for sure.
Triple Threat TNA World Championship, pretty solid closer agree to
disagree on that one. Let's go through a couple more here,
(01:42:29):
and while I'm doing this, let me refresh.
Speaker 3 (01:42:34):
All right, let's see here.
Speaker 2 (01:42:37):
Shout out to open the Vault, who gave it a
four out of ten CNA Slammerversary ends up being one
of the most disappointing cards we've ever gotten from TNA.
They seem destined to do something great and then they
lay a big ass shit on it and ruin the moment.
Production issues. I'm glad I'm not the only one that
(01:42:58):
has noticed what was going on with the production issues,
and I'm glad we like stressed that at the top
there plagued the show heavily, as well as poor booking decisions.
Mike Santana loses at the night everyone was expecting him
to win, just to continue an uninteresting trick. Williams TNA
title reign. We had underwhelming matches for the most part,
(01:43:22):
and even the okay matches, the build wasn't too good.
AJ Styles return was underwhelming as well. Overall, this was
a huge misstep from TNA. Now let me home in
on the AJ Styles part. Let me home in on
the AJ Styles part. I do believe that everything has
smooved out between AJATNA and all that, and it is
(01:43:45):
obviously because if it wasn't the case, AJ wouldn't have
done what he did. I think AJ at this point,
and I gotta double down and say it again. We
have not seen the last of AJ. I think this
is just look. Let me just put my toe in
the water, let me just feel it and let me
(01:44:05):
ease my way back into this. Let me just take
my time with this.
Speaker 3 (01:44:11):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:44:12):
Now, if you guys were looking for AJ to say
something along the lines of, I promise you TNA, I
promise you all going forward, I'll never be far from
home or or I'll never be gone for so long
from home like I have been again, I'll.
Speaker 3 (01:44:34):
See you around.
Speaker 2 (01:44:36):
If he would have said something like that, I think
that probably would have been a better so I can
meet you guys halfway. But it was still a really cool,
fun moment to see AJ come out to his old
get Ready to Fly theme, even kind of looking like
briefly maybe he cut his hair. He kind of maybe
almost went back to how he looked when we last
(01:44:56):
saw him and everything, Ah, you know, yeah, was it
a little flat? I mean he put over a young
guy future of the X division and write all that
good stuff. I mean, was it a little flat? A
little bit a little bit well, maybe this was just
say touch and go type of thing. I don't think
(01:45:18):
it's the last we've seen of him, though, let's go
through one more here. Shout out to JWC. Quite literally,
one of the biggest shows in the companies exist this
and lays a fat fucking egg. The production, the booking,
the enduring work, all of it was embarrassing. Mike Santana
is a star, You're in New York, the crowd is
(01:45:39):
behind him, and you have one of the worst finishes
to a world title match and pay per view you'll
ever see. How can you see? Aw? Just stick to
the landing and immediately don't do the same, instead leaving
both world titles on developmental talent from another company. Also,
(01:46:00):
the Hardy's winning the tag titles in twenty twenty five,
then proceeding to set up a match with the Dudleys. Yeah,
no thanks, something's gonna need to you know. The Hardy
situation is an interesting one because they were talking a
little cryptic there going into tonight's pay per view, like
(01:46:22):
maybe we were in that final endgame phase of their
run in TNA before they go wherever. So you can't
help but wonder if between now and Bound for Glory,
well they still have those tag titles? Are are they
gonna lose those tag titles? You just can't help, but wonder.
(01:46:43):
I really hope that going into Bound for Glory, the
tag titles will be off of them by then, because
if they are gonna be rolling now, and I look,
this is all I'm saying. The tag titles on the
Hardys I'm okay with as long as it is a
short run, and it is a short run that is
(01:47:05):
used to properly elevate a fresher, younger, more established team.
As long as that's you never can go wrong with
that blueprint. I get where some people are coming from,
but as long as you stick to that kind of
a blueprint, you honestly can never go wrong as far
as I'm concerned. So wait and see how that plays out.
(01:47:29):
A lot of people upset about the Mike Santana. I
love this. I love this. Meanwhile, Goldberg loss in Atlanta,
his hometown and all that. Uh and and people are
just fucking it. Yeah, yeah, he should have lost.
Speaker 3 (01:47:45):
What the hell is you bitching about?
Speaker 2 (01:47:47):
Right? I get it. I see how you guys are
doing it. I see.
Speaker 3 (01:47:50):
I mean, not for nothing, not for nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:47:53):
We saw jay Uso go through this, We saw so
many people go through this, and when it was all
said and done, again. It goes back to the chase
is better than the catch when the moment finally does happen.
I honestly don't think most people are going to even like, hey,
remember when no I'll read one more for you guys,
(01:48:17):
shout out to death Seeker. Zero out of ten have
the matches on the car from people with no history
in TNA, and nearly none of them had any real build.
Cedric had a match on the WWE pre show with
Aulei eight years ago and got on this show with
one three minute match in TNA. Still a good match,
(01:48:40):
I don't care what you say. Still a good match.
Dark State have never wrestled in TNA, but got a
match now.
Speaker 3 (01:48:49):
I feel you on that.
Speaker 2 (01:48:50):
I feel you, and I don't even care for dark State,
and I've been watching NXT regularly and I don't care
for dark State. I don't care for Dark State, I
don't care for Tony DiAngelo and family. So you two
for two right now? Let's see what else you got here?
Two losses to NXT and one to Fourth Row. I
(01:49:11):
guess he's talking about dark State or whatever. Whyboughtter watching
TNA instead of them? The only real TNA versus TNA
regular match was Moose and Leon Slater, but they spent
half a year saying Leon deserves the title because of
his age, and I got tired of it by the
second week.
Speaker 3 (01:49:34):
Like I said, y'all chat me and the rest.
Speaker 2 (01:49:37):
Of the community up, look us up, get us cut
off the speed and all that. All right, take a
look at these Poland results one more time before we
get ready to roll out and get the latest update. Here,
let's see where we stand there on Twitter holding about
(01:49:57):
the same. We're almost at dead even though again Poll
of the night for those of you that checked out
TNA Slammer Versary, what did you think right now? We
got forty seven percent giving the event a thumbs up,
fifty giving the event a thumbs down. Poke in my
head in YouTube one more time, YouTube dot Com forward
(01:50:18):
slash the RCWR show. Check out the post section. See
what you guys are saying over there. Early voting is.
Speaker 3 (01:50:25):
Still coming in, but it's not looking good.
Speaker 2 (01:50:26):
YouTube community not looking good, not looking good right now
seeing a thumbs down. So for those of you that's
going to be trickling on in after the fact, represent
Casher vote. Shout out to James in the chat. I
see your comment. Let's pull that up right now. Bear
with me a second here so I can pull that
up boom, James saying that's how you build new stars.
(01:50:51):
I was cool with AJ congratulating Slater ushering in a
new breath in the X division with a lot of
eyes on the show. I agree with you about the
Hardy's Yeah, I mean the combination that they used here,
James and everybody else, this is how you do it.
Because for the longest time, especially after AJ Styles left,
(01:51:15):
there was that period there where TNA they no longer
had those okay, who's the household names, who's the names
that's pretty much going to sell. And we that have
been watching the TNA product for so long, we saw
them go through a lot of hardship. There was a
lot of damage that can still be felt to this day.
I'm looking at you, although I respect his contributions, I
(01:51:39):
love how candid he is now, but I'm looking at
Eric Beschoff. I'm looking at how the Hawkster handled things
like that wasn't I'm looking at Bruce Pritchard. I'm looking
at some of the stuff that was going on with
Vince Russo. Not everything was good, Like there's a lot.
There's a lot of you know, irreversible damage that was
(01:52:02):
done for many, many years by those individuals that I named,
and so the very best talents aj at the top
of that list eventually taking.
Speaker 3 (01:52:14):
Their ball and going elsewhere.
Speaker 2 (01:52:16):
And so TNA has been in this weird purgatory state
for like the longest time, to the point, wow, they're
still around. It's like, well, yeah, good for them, but
I'm not going to watch. And now they finally have
like the right type or roster of a pretty damn
good talent that's in place. But they've got the shittiest
(01:52:39):
TV deal and with this partnership that they got with WWE,
you know, okay, well until we can get that TV
thing figured out, and until we're doing more live shows
that people can access, Like we got to use WWE
as the gateway that we need to send some of
(01:53:00):
our talents over there, right, get that buzz, get that momentum,
bring it on back over here, and we're cross promoting
just like that. I look at it as no different
as podcasting. You go on somebody's podcasts and then you know,
you do them a d you bring your audience and
all that with you, and then vice versa and all
(01:53:23):
that you're cross promoting. You know it's still I know
it looks a little right now, folks, but it's still
a better relationship than what TNA had with AEW, without
a doubt, without a freaking doubt.
Speaker 3 (01:53:40):
So no, I like how they're how they're doing it.
Speaker 2 (01:53:43):
I think people just need to have patience and just
take a step back and just enjoy the right now. Look,
if you're the type of wrestling fan that you don't
care about this cross promoting, you just want to be
able to enjoy your product and peace and not have
to be like, wait, I gotta go watch this show
(01:54:05):
just to find out what's going on with that TNA
championship or that particular TNA talent. I gotta watch this
product just to see what's going on with them. Yeah,
then that's probably not gonna be your cup of tea.
I can I can totally respect the hell out of that.
I mean, not for nothing. Some of my favorite TV
shows they would do these crossovers, and there would be
(01:54:26):
times where it's like I don't care for crossovers. I
don't care for that, Like, I just want to enjoy
my show and peace, Like, what the hell you know,
like you know, sometimes you'll see a Law and Order
crossover and it's like, well, as much as I like,
I just want to enjoy this one Law and Order
(01:54:48):
and Peace, I don't care for this other stuff that's
going on. Let me just enjoy this. But then it's like, well,
if you don't watch it, you're gonna miss some very
important stuff because by the time you get ready to
watch the next episode, it's like, oh, this happened, Like
remember what happened with the CW and they were doing
the whole Arrow verse and if Infinite Crisis and all that.
(01:55:11):
Remember all that? And then like if you weren't watching
every single one of those joints by the time you
ended up checking out ar Row or you were watching
Black Lightning or you were watching you're like, well, with
the exception of Black Lightning, black Lightning did a really
good job and just kind of staying in its own
lane for the most part, but all the other shows
(01:55:31):
was like wait what and you had to go watch
just to figure out what the hell happened.
Speaker 3 (01:55:35):
If that's you, you don't want to do all that.
Speaker 2 (01:55:37):
I hear your gripe, Like legit, I hear your gripe.
I was just waiting to see what continues to happen. Right,
this is in the book that got Bound for Glory,
that's going to be coming up, and that's what's up
all right. At this point, we've been at it for
about a hour and fifty seven minutes. Let's go ahead
and let's call it so once again. We're gonna be
(01:55:59):
live on the air this Monday night, July twenty first,
twenty twenty five minutes removed. After WWE Raw goes off
to air. We'll talk about Raw fallout. We'll also get
it into the very latest and wrestling news and headlines.
I'll be sounding off for the first time about Goldberg's
comments on the Aerial Hawane Show. Oh, we definitely don't
(01:56:23):
want to miss that. We're gonna dive into a good,
good load of stuff. Also, we got a cool unboxing
we're gonna be doing. And uh, if you look in
the background, there's something really cool that we'll be showcasing more.
I'm trying to help you guys get an idea that's
(01:56:44):
watching the visual webcast, trying to help you guys out.
But we'll talk more about that on Monday. Meantime, be
kind of rewind check out previous episodes you might have
missed on demand and on the downloads wherever you get
your podcasts, Just search the RCWR show. If you enjoy
