Speaker 5 (03:10):
So twelve years, twelve years since cmpunk has last held
a WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Twelve years. Just let that sink in. And when you
stop and you think about this incredible journey, the second coming,
if you will, of cmpunk in the WWE, this rodeo,
it's been one hell of a magical ride. Remember he
returned November twenty fifth of twenty twenty three. It was
(03:48):
at the end of Survivors series. And I mean to
quote one of my favorite lines from one of my
all time favorite bands, The Eagles, hell froze over, like legit,
hell froz over and everything. And it's been one hell
of a roller coaster of a ride ever since. Yeah,
he got sidelined with that injury that happened January of
(04:13):
twenty twenty four, and he was out for about what
was that four to five months? Six months. You know,
we were expecting him to be out a lot longer.
I bring that up because you just can't help but
wonder had he not gotten injured, what would the trajectory
of his career ben especially as far as the world
(04:35):
title picture and everything like, how would that have played
itself out. It's kind of one of those things where
we definitively will never really know, sadly, but I say
all of ad to say, man, what an incredible ride,
What an incredible journey of storytelling. That is really the
(04:56):
main thing that is really eating at me right now
is the storytelling that has been told brilliantly by WW.
There's a lot of things creatively, especially storyline wise, where
you're kind of looking at some of the things that
WW is doing and you're scratching your head and you're
kind of going, and trust me, there's a lot of
scratching hit stuff that was on this pay per view
(05:17):
tonight that we're gonna dive into. But I tell you,
as far as what they did write the seth Rawlins
CM punk, you just felt if you were following this,
no way, no how is seth Rawlins Whether he gotta
limp his way down there or he gotta get Bronson
(05:38):
Reed and bron Breaker. Whatever he gotta do, ain't no way,
no how seth rawlins on his watch. As long as
there's air breeding in those lungs, that CM punk is
gonna be leaving SummerSlam as a world heavyweight champion. It
is pretty much on site. Take his ass out. And
(05:58):
I gotta tell you, seeing how everything had played out
with that main event match, which, by the way, that
main event match between c Impunk and Goonther, shout out
to whoever the producers were for that match, because I
love the fact that they'd let this match breathe. I
know I toyed with the idea a little bit of hm,
(06:20):
is it possible that maybe Bronson Reed bron Breaker might
get involved? I knew some of you all had toyed
with that idea as well, But make no mistake about it.
When I was looking at that particular match, I definitely
said to myself, definitely out loud, yo, hopefully we don't
get that interference, because these two guys in that square circle,
(06:43):
they gonna put on probably a match of the Year candidate,
and that's exactly what we had got tonight. Whoever the
producers were that mainly decided, Yo, we need to let
this match breed. We don't need to worry about interference.
Just let them go out there and lug it out.
That was a Summer scent, a Summer Slam classic of
(07:05):
a match. People. Seriously, I have not been on the
edge of my seat like that for a match in
quite a long time. Fantastic pacing, fantastic storytelling. I loved
when Guther got busted open and he just he can't
believe that he is seeing his own blood and he
(07:28):
is freaking the hell out. That is something that we've
never seen happen with Guther before. We have never seen
him freak out at the sight of his own blood,
right down to the point he is starting to panic
and he is gesturing to his opponent wait, no, no, no,
(07:48):
I can't do this, and he's actually trying to get
the referee to maybe intervene In all that. He got
busted open pretty damn bad too. I gotta say, I
really hope that's not going to require some stitches or whatnot,
but he got busted open really really bad. But yeah,
I love seem Punk just going in there, literally seeing
(08:10):
the blood, smelling the blood, pouncing on that setting up
not one but two beautiful gts's. Oh that first GTS.
I love how the big tree and Gunther did not fall.
That was beautiful right then in itself, so you already
knew at that point. Yeah, punk On probably had to
go for the GTS again to take him down. And
(08:34):
I'm glad that as far as everybody still remembers when
Gunther tapped out, everybody remembers that he tapped out to
what was that Sammy Zain And so I love that
that distinction because remember talking CM Punk CM Punk has
won his fair share of matches when he's done the
(08:55):
Anacon device. So I'm glad that history books did not
open up up and go, well you keep track. There's
now two men that can lay claim that they have
submitted Goother. No, no, no. I love that that distinction
goes to Sammy Zaye and instead the story that they
(09:15):
told to have see them Punk conquer Goother. And look,
I got admit I was a little concerned there about
Punk and I think many of you all were as
well that watched this Punk look pretty gast didn't he.
I mean, he he was just I'm going, what are
we sure Punk got the cardio for this, Like, legit,
(09:37):
I'm going this Punk really gonna make it through this match,
because if he needs to chill in the corner and
be giving some oxygen real quick, like I'm okay, and
maybe we can just pan to Michael Cole and Waite
Barry for a hot minute and let's see him Punk
get some oxygen. But I was legit concerned. I don't
(09:57):
know what it is. It's kind of weird because I'm
finding that I grow concerned about see im Punk the
longer that a match goes. But yet I appreciate seeing
Punk a little gas seeing him, you know, he obviously
this isn't the Punk from you know, twenty twelve, twenty thirteen,
(10:19):
twenty fourteen, Right, there's some slowness. You know. Father time
is definitely caught up to him. There's a part of
me that's concerned about him the longer a match goes.
But then there's also that part of me that goes,
I love this, digging down deep like anybody that has
seen that Rocky Balboa movie, and Rocky still has he
(10:39):
still has those those those demons, those monsters in the
attic that he hasn't quite got all out of his
system yet remember that one that wasn't How old was
he when he made the comeback in that one, right,
So you kind of linked that back to see them
Punk and how all that played out in this match
to Bud one of the best technical matches I have
(11:05):
seen from WWE in more recent years. Definitely if you're
keeping track as far as twenty twenty five goes from WWE,
it's definitely up there. Definitely up there. I'll have a
lot more to say about that match later on, but yeah,
you know, see them Punk winning. Was only able to
(11:29):
celebrate with that World Heavyweight Championship for about five minutes,
and then we hear that music burging down and you're
just going, ah shit, don't hit the fan. Oh wait
a minute, how's this gonna pan out? And you know,
I gotta say, seeing see them Punk just standing there,
(11:50):
I'm going, well, they didn't pull up the executive producers
Paul Levec and Lee Fitting. Something is still going on.
Something's brewing, something's brewing. And you hear the seth Rowlins music,
seth Rollins comes out on crutches. Paul Hammon's got the
money in the bank, briefcase. But you're looking at seth
Rollins and he is braced up like a mofo on
(12:13):
that right leg, and you're going, no way, no, how
is this guy gonna be cashing in? And all you
see is Rowlins doing a whole bunch of trash talking,
essentially getting in the head of seeing Punk, letting him know, TikTok,
bad boy, TikTok. Cuz you on my time now, you
(12:34):
on my time. Now. I don't know why my Apple
watch just decided to talk. That was kind of weird there,
But okay, I don't know about you, guys. I'm still
looking at my screen. I'm going there is no executive producers,
Lea Fitting, Paul Lovac, I don't know about this. I
don't know about this. And sure enough we see Rollins
(12:54):
turn around. At that point, you're kind of going, well,
maybe just maybe, just maybe seeing Punk's gonna walk out
of here. And then Rollins dropped the crutches. I said,
oh shit, here we go. Guys. I did not want
to be right. If you checked out my summer slam predictions,
I told you, boy, am I scary accurate? If you
(13:17):
checked out my summer slam predictions? Was that scary accurate?
I mean I went way out there. I didn't settle.
I said, Yo, seam Punk is gonna win, but Rollins
is gonna come out and cash that mofo. I was
very specific. I could have easily said Guntha retains within Rawlins.
(13:38):
I could have easily gone that route, But for me,
the easier money was no Rollins Punk. They hate each other?
Why not? Beautiful storytelling by w w WEE, especially from
the standpoint of blurring the lines, how the lines begin
(13:58):
to blur. Everything goes back weeks ago. We saw that
spot that Rawlins did from Off the Ropes. I was
right here on this show reacting to it, just like
you all going. I didn't really see anything. Matter of fact,
I told you guys, hey, I played that footage back
one time to speed, two times to speed negative, one
(14:21):
time to speed negative, two times to speed. Good god,
I didn't see anything. Other people going, no, man, I
saw there was a little bit of a twitch right here,
right right there, that middle of frame of a second.
That's where the knee problem happened. I didn't see anything.
A lot of you guys, and I don't know who
(14:44):
first put it out there. I kind of feel like
maybe it was the guy's over at bodyslam dot net.
I'm not really sure, but somebody had jumped out there,
very very reputable. Somebody jumped out there, and the word
that they were given was Look, from what I understand,
(15:05):
Rawlins ain't injured, not at least not right there. He
is dealing with something and he needs a couple of
weeks to recover. But yeah, no, it was going on
with that right leg. Yeah no, no, no, that's no.
But WWE is very interested in doing a little bit
(15:26):
of an injury angle swerve to get him to the championship.
That really went under the radar. I didn't want to
put that out there. I was aware of that a
couple of weeks ago. I didn't want to put that
out there because I wasn't trying to spoil things for
you guys. But my whole thing was, well, you know,
if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen. Did I take
(15:48):
that report into consideration. No, no, because my mind was
made up actually days before II even came across that report.
That for me, based on what I saw, I felt
Rawlins was fine and there was just going to be
a swerve. Now, some of you guys may look at
(16:08):
the current story arc, and you may go, well, Lee
enough for nothing, but everything considered with Seth Rollins and
all that, you know, why would WWE just kind of
do this swerve the way that they did it here?
Why not just keep Rowlins? Well, you just kind of
answer your own question. And I just kind of told
you Rollins was dealing with something legit. He was dealing
(16:28):
with something he needed some time to recuperate. And so
this is how they pretty much got him out of
the picture, yet at the same time still kind of
keeping him within the whispers, the shadows, current on TV,
the name dropping in all of that. So it's beautiful
(16:48):
how it all really had played out when it's all
said and done here. So, yeah, we got us a
new world heavyweight champion coming out of Summer Slam Night one.
And his name ain't CM punk. It is Seth frickin' Rollins.
(17:09):
Oh my god. We'll circle back more to that later on.
Let's talk about some of the technical aspects and production
aspects for Summer Slam. Okay, I got it. I did
watch the kickoff. I did check that out. Now, see
I ended up coming in I would say after about
the first hour for the kickoff, so I actually decided
(17:33):
to rewind it and just okay, let me see what
all I'm missing, And anytime they took a commercial break,
I pretty much kind of fast forward that so I
can catch up in real time. And I did pretty good.
I wasn't that far behind. I did pretty good. I
gotta say the whole three hour Kickoff show, they did
great production wise, all in that little quirky issues here
(17:55):
and there. I know there were a couple of times
where I was picking up bikes, but they were pretty
It wasn't open that long. The mics were probably open
maybe for about oh I would say, fifteen twenty seconds,
so it wasn't bad. Not like we were hearing anything.
Juicy shout out to Big Ee. His pacing was better
(18:18):
this go around, because remember last time when WWE had
an event, I was noting how Big E it seemed
as though he was just going talking NonStop and he
wasn't taking time to properly breathe in between the sentences,
and it just seemed like he was getting too gased out.
(18:39):
This go round, Biggie really paced himself. I thought it
was great that it was more than just him and
Jackie Redman or I thought it was great that there
was a third wheel as part of that whole act, right,
because that definitely the more to marry you. I always
(19:00):
say that way you can properly, you know, rush your
vocals a little bit mentally, even though you've rehearsed right,
you have your script, so I mean, make no mistake
about it. Like you got your script. These guys got
their script, so they know the bullet points that they're
supposed to cover. They've already prepped, They've already done their
dry reads and all of that. So if it's a
situation that occurs where they get a brain fart, whether
(19:24):
live on the air, they got enough time to recover
and just look at a couple of words on their
script and or a teleprompter if it's available, and they'll
be able to get right back there and feel their
way out and everything. And trust me, they got somebody
in their headpiece counting them down and or the floor
manager letting them know how much time they got left
(19:45):
and everything. Thought the kickoff was pretty good. If you
guys did not watch the kickoff, you really didn't miss
anything special, Okay, with the exception, With the exception of
Stephanie McMahon being interviewed, and she was talking about her
recent What's Your Story podcast with John Cena. I can't
(20:07):
wait to check that out. I'll talk a lot more
about that on this coming Monday's RCWR show Live after
Monday Night, Ral goes off the air. Catch that right
here and all through our social media. But I liked
the question that Biggie ext her, which was, hey, are
we ever going to see you step back in the ring,
(20:28):
and sepan McMahon kind of blushing, but at the same
time she's going, now, you always kind of asking me that,
and she goes, no, you know what's going on with
this current roster, this current women's roster. Yet no, I
cannot hang with them, But I wouldn't mind being a
mouthpiece for somebody that definitely peaked my ears big time,
(20:55):
big time. That peaked my ears and that just got
my gear. There's in motion going, yeah, who would be
pretty badass to see Stephanie pair up with? You know
who would she be a good mouthpiece for. I gotta
put that question out there to you guys now, which
is after hearing that, Yeah, who would you like to
(21:16):
see Stephanie McMahon be a mouthpiece for I think that's
a very very interesting question, and hopefully, I think we
will do it. Most likely tomorrow, I'll put up some
type of a poll where you guys can maybe insert
your own name or whatnot. You know, a lot of
you guys are going to be scared, right, A lot
of you guys don't like those type of polls, or
you got to actually type down an answer. A lot
(21:38):
of you guys, I see how y'all like it. A
lot of you guys like it when we give you
the options and you pretty much go from there. All right,
I'll tell you what. I'll meet you halfway. I'll meet
you halfway. I'll think of some names. Tonight we'll post it.
Maybe I think we'll post it early Monday, all right,
(21:58):
and then we'll go over the results, and I'll give you,
guys my thoughts on who I'd like to personally see
Stephanie McMahon be a mouthpiece for. Other than that, y'all
really did not miss out on anything else. They're like, legit,
nothing nothing else was there. SummerSlam video package, great stuff.
They got My boy Drew Ski. I stay seeing Drew
(22:20):
Ski all over the place. This dude, this dude is
just collecting checks left and right. Look, I can't hate
Drew ski I love his hustle, seriously, I love his hustle.
Cardi B officially opening up Summer Slam. Always love seeing
Cardi B. Yes, and I do get down with Cardi
(22:41):
B's music. I'm telling you that straight up. I may
be a rock guy, right, but I do love my rap.
You will definitely find me. Just ask the family. You
will find me on the weekends, windows down, rooftop on
my car wide open, and I'm blasting my good meat music.
All right, I'm blasting my good music. Cardi B. I'm
(23:02):
definitely blasting Cardi B. Looking pretty damn good too. I
gotta say, with the outfit that she was wearing. Let's
go over some of these matches. Here we had Michael
Cole Wade Barrett on commentary. One other little nuggative information
that we had learned from the Summer Slam kickoff is
that Michael Cole and wait Barrett, Yeah, that's gonna be
(23:24):
our commentating crew for the whole Summer Slam weekend. So
THEO was a you that's kind of going, well, what
about Corey Graves. By the sound of it, and no
Corey Graves for Commentary Weekend. And I know a lot
of people are gonna want to speculate, you know, hey,
what's going on with Corey. I mean, if I hate speculating,
(23:47):
I really really do. But if you want me to speculate,
I'm just thinking from a technical aspect because you know,
you know, when I was learning, what I was learning,
what I continue to learn from media production and all
is you know, once certain people have their respected role
and then you're gonna be doing whatever for that particular
(24:08):
project for a couple of days. Sometimes you may need
to rotate people out. It really just depends on the
scheduling and all that and how quick you're able to
get through what you need to get through and everything.
The only thing that makes sense to me from a
technical production standpoint is logistics wise, that would have been
(24:31):
a lot of overkill for Corey Graves because really take
a step back and think about it. This ain't long windy,
but just think about it in a nutshell. Okay, Well,
if Corey's going to be the guy, Okay, so that
means Corey's gonna do Corey's gonna do Saturday Night, and
then Corey's gonna do Sunday Night, and Corey is demand
right now for Monday night, so tag Corey is it again?
(24:54):
But wait, Corey's also the guy for NXT on the CW,
So that's four four straight nights for Corey, four straight nights.
I think logistically it was kind of one of those
things where you know what, let's not even risk even
if this guy's willing to do it, let's not risk it,
(25:15):
especially as far as burnout goes, because the last thing
we need is him being on the air and he
sounds zapped out. So I think from a logistics standpoint,
you know, they ironed it out and it was one
of those Okay, well, let's have Wade come in russ Ashore.
We'll see Corey definitely first thing Monday, and unless something
(25:38):
weird happens where Wade for some reason he can't do it,
that's like the only way I can see Corey. But
then even at that, even at that, I'm still not
seeing me personally. I'm still not seeing Corey being tagged in.
I think it would be Joe Tessitor if something weird
were to happen as far as tomorrow, Wade couldn't do
Sunday Nights coverage of SummerSlam. Then pretty sure it's gonna
(26:03):
be Michael Cole and Joe Tessitore calling on the action.
So sound off, let me know if you think I
might be one to something there Rormy Rains and the
Yeat Man jay Uso teaming up to take on Bronson,
Reed and braun Breaker. It was interesting to see how
some people were a little bit concerned. I think it
(26:25):
was from this past Monday's raw or the previous raw
where jay Usso did not do his grand virtuoso entrance
from the crowd, and that kind of took some people
back because they were going, Yo, what the hell, how
do you not have this guy go through the crowd.
It's like, this is one of his signatures. What the hell? Honestly,
(26:48):
when I play it back in retrospect now I can't
help but go, Okay, well, if you wanted to hold
it off for this week's raw because you really want
it to sell that grand virtuoso picture, the grand stage
of it all at Mett Life with jay Uso coming
(27:09):
out there and just the sea of fans they're in
attendance selling the whole Yeat everybody eating you want to
hold off doing the yeating for Monday Night Raw, and
instead you want to hold it, you want to preserve
it until SummerSlam. I'm okay with that, and I welcomed
(27:31):
what I saw visually. I gotta tell you, it was
one of those aspects where where Jimmy Usso was coming
out correction, jay Uso. I apologize jay Uso was coming
out because I think I called him Jimmy before jay
Uso is who I was talking about. It's one of
those things I appreciated where when we saw jay Uso
come out, all I could say to myself is thank
(27:51):
God for rehearsals, because for the camera people, could you
just imagine trying to do that live on the on
the cut and you don't even do a walkthrough, you
don't even do a rehearsal. You don't do like at
least two, three, four or five rehearsals to get it
down right. And you're like, okay, all right, let's go
(28:15):
to Jake camera one and camera one has no freaking
clue where the hell j is.
Speaker 4 (28:23):
They're just you see, it's just the sea of people
at everything. To Wade Barrett's point, it was nice hearing
him shout out the Cabric crew because he was like, look,
I ain't gonna even lie.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
He's like, I see where he is on a monitor,
but I'm looking. I don't know where the hell this
dude is. Robbie Rains ja Uso taking on Bronston Reid
and Braun Breaker, fun opener of a tag match. I'm
not too sure about the finish to this match. It
(28:57):
kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Now, look, the
match was good. I thought it was a solid opener,
I really really did. But the fact that Bronson, Red
and Breaker, I'm just gonna start calling them B and B.
By the way, can we get a name for this
stable already? I mean seriously, now, if we don't have
(29:19):
Rawlins in there on some weeks, then I think it
should be called BBP. I don't know what you all
think about that, but BBP or you can go BEHB
all right, But I was kind of thinking about Bell
BIV Devou, right, That's kind of why I was kind
of going in that direction. Google it. If you don't
know that band and everything, you missing some really good
stuff from their catalog. But anyway, I am looking at
(29:43):
this and I wasn't quite sure how to feel about
them losing, even though when I was offering predictions, I
said Roman and Jay were gonna pick up the win,
because there's just no way that Bronson Red gonna whoop
you all asses. And then if you roam your rains,
(30:04):
take your take your Jordan's and there's no receipt coming
for that ass afterwards. Like right, So, but at the
same time, something just kind of felt a little flat
for me, but also at the same time put a
strong foreshadowing on what I felt was going to happen
(30:26):
later on in the night, which I did pull you
guys immediately after that match wrapped up, and I asked
you all, what do you think do you think, after
seeing what happened with this tag match opener, that Rollins
is gonna cash in? And the vast majority of you guys,
last I had saw the poll, it was at about
eighty percent. Eighty percent of you had said, Yeah, Rollins
(30:48):
is gonna return and he's gonna cash in that championship.
Let's let's kick back and watch a couple of points
of observation. If I could somehow have the ear of
Bronson Reed, and I'm hoping that like friends, colleagues, of
his they can get this to him. You're a big dude,
(31:12):
and I say this respectfully. You're a big dude. You're menacing.
You got the whole look down, love everything that you're
doing this go around and have in the past couple
of months. You don't need to be doing suicide dives.
You don't need to be doing any dives over the rope,
between the ropes. You don't need to do that. You
(31:35):
are a big, grounded, tough son of a bitch. Okay,
the only time you need to be leaving your feet
is when you climb up to that top turnbuckle and
you're getting ready to do the tsunami. That's the only
time you need to be leaving the ring. I don't
(31:56):
care if Jay Whoso knows how to fly. I don't
care if Roman Reigns knows how to fly. Hell, I
don't care if ron Breaker knows how to fly. Your
lane should be no. The only time you will see
me do a dive is when I climb up on
(32:17):
that top rope to do my tsunami, because everybody knows
when I get ready to do that, it's lights out.
Somebody's gonna be hurting. I you know that just kind
of rubbed me the wrong way because it's one of
those things where when I'm thinking about it from a
psychology standpoint, I'm going, Okay, okay, you're a grounded dude.
(32:38):
You're a brawler. I get that. I get that you're
you're a brawler. You go up to the top. You know,
you got your whole Vader splash, you know, your own
little Vader bomb and all that, like, okay, cool, But
when you're doing all that other stuff, I just look
at that other stuff, and for me personally, to each
your own, but for me personally, I just go, that's overkill.
(33:00):
It's okay, great, you can do it. That's great, but
it's not needed, you know. And then not to mention
when you do all that type of huha stuff, it'll
take away from the next match, you feel where I'm
coming from. So we definitely got to be a little
bit smart when it comes to stuff like that. I
(33:23):
thought the over the top spots was just a little
bit too overkilled. I didn't mind it when Jay was
doing something in this match. I didn't mind it when
it came to the serious hangtime that Roman Reigns had
showed when he did a dive over the rope. I
mean he went hangtime. Roman had serious hangtime going over
(33:46):
the rope, crashing into B and B. I couldn't believe it.
And when they showed the footage on instant replay and
they showed how much space Roman had between the rope,
that top rope and when he was in the air,
I couldn't help but look at that and they go
do do got height makes me wonder how his ball
(34:10):
handling and all that is, how his jump shot is
and all that. Looking at my notes here final moments
of this match up, Bronson reed with a suicide dive
ont uh yeating Roman as I like to call him again.
The move wasn't needed, Bronson, No, no, no, bron Breaker,
(34:34):
forgive me those bees, man, they get a little tongue tight.
After a while, bron Breaker continued evolution here as far
as the on screen persona and everything. I loved the
amount of trash talking my man was doing during this match,
trash talking the hell out of Roman Reigns, trash talking
(34:56):
the hell out of the crowd. I couldn't help with.
Just do my fingerwag at the TV and say out loud,
this dude, he is getting it, and I really wish
that this would resonate more with the younger folks on
the WWE roster. There's definitely some things that I'm looking
(35:18):
at Elyra of Valkyria, for example. I'm definitely looking at
a Tiffany Stratton, which oh, I got a lot to
say about her match and against Jade car Gil. But
there's a lot that, you know, I'm looking at as
far as checking off all the boxes. What's being done right,
especially as far as working the crowd, connecting with the crowd,
(35:39):
evoking some type of a reaction from the crowd. Breaker
is checking all of those boxes. It was definitely on
full display here tonight. Talk about hangtime too. When he
came in for a damn shoulder tackle outside the ring
to Roman rings, my man was at least five feet
(36:01):
in the air. I wish I was exaggerating, I'm not.
My man was at least five feet in the air
when he connected with Roman. That shit looked sweet. I
love that badass stuff right there. So towards the end
of this one, remember some of the stuff that we
were left with from Monday night raw Paul Haymon going, yo,
(36:22):
how can you even He's talking to Jay usso, how
can you even trust Roman reigns? Like after everything, like,
what the hell? Well, we would see as far as
Roman reigns and that that question of loyalty and all
that other stuff goes. So in the final moments of
this matchup, we see that after Braun was done working
(36:48):
the crowd and everything. If I'm not mistaken, it was
Breaker that was getting ready to go for his trademark
spear on Jay No no, no on no, I said it right,
It was one Jay. But Roman ended up pushing Jay
out of the way and eating the bullet for him.
(37:09):
Jay immediately follows up with the super kick and the
USO splash, And you know, it's that little fat attention
to detail that I really appreciate. I love the fact
that when Roman pushed Jay out of the way to
eat that spear, Jay looks back like what the hell,
and then once he realizes, holy shit, you did that
(37:31):
for me. I can't believe you did that for me, Like,
oh my god, And it was almost kind of like
any other doubt that maybe Jay had in his head.
I love the fact that afterwards it was like, Okay,
he's got my back, and then some and imatchin it
that way. By the way, I popped really hard. When
Roman and Jay have first brawled with B and B
(37:56):
first couple of seconds of this match, opener tossed their
asses out with the ring and Jay's like, can we
run that back? Jay wants to actually have his music play.
Keep in mind, the bell had already rung and everything,
and Jay's like, can we run my music back? And
Roma is feeding into it. He's going, wait, you actually
want to run this back? And they both start doing
(38:17):
the hand gesture and the music comes back on. Funniest
shit I've seen it quite some time. They got to
figure out a way to put that in the next
video game, because that would just be hilarious. Can you
imagine that you're playing your little two K game and
I don't know, you get in the match with Jay
and he tosses you out at some point, and then
(38:37):
he just decides, yeah, let's run that back, and he's
just celebrating. You gotta do that because that is a
serious taught. Seriously, that is a badass serious taught. Right,
team went over when you think about everything else that
was to come later on in the night. So I'm
(39:01):
okay with that. I'm okay with how everything had played out.
Solid tag team opener, though, definitely solid tag team opener.
How you guys doing, By the way, hope you guys
have been having a good time. You all are enjoying
your weekend so far, You've been appreciating the talk of
Summer Slam. If you have not done so already, make
(39:21):
sure you show the ultimate love. If you haven't subscribed already,
make sure you do so. Also, hit the like Man
really helps out a great great ton. Just thinking if
there's any additional notes I want to add on top
of everything that happened with this tag match opener, Honestly,
everybody busted their ass and this one from what I
(39:44):
was able to see, not disappointed with this tag match whatsoever. Man,
Nice good, slow frenzy build up of some really cool
crazy spots, good bouts of tech, of strength, all that stuff.
Nice big spectacle here breaker though really my main big
(40:08):
standout really came out of this looking like a true
bona fide star. Second matchup on the card, By the
way that match had lasted that opening match, it lasted, oh,
twenty one minutes, twenty one minutes and change. Next up,
(40:28):
women's tag team match Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss defeating
Judgment Days, Raquel Rodriguez and Rock San Perez to become
your new tag team champions. I did not think the
trigger would be pulled this soon. I thought at least
we had maybe one or two more pay per views
(40:50):
potentially to go here before it was all said and done.
Of maybe just maybe we were gonna see new champions.
But I did not think it was gonna happen this soon.
I welcomed did I actually welcome did good stuff? Good
stuff in this matchup. Everybody definitely was working hard. I
(41:11):
love the continuation in the teasing of Charlotte Flair and
Alexa Bliss pretty much working out their issues, which was
definitely on full display here in this matchup, from the
moment Who's gonna go first? Miscommunication right there to right
in the middle of the match, definitely towards the end
(41:35):
where we had saw Charlotte she ended up boy talk
about a huge misfire here. She ended up getting inadvertently
hit by Alexa Bliss, who was trying to get a
hit in there on Rock Sande if I'm not mistaken,
and Alexa couldn't believe what all had happened, and then
(41:58):
she was just devastated by all of it and everything,
but of course she had to focus on the match,
and it kind of looked as though at that point
our girl Alexa was maybe going to cost them the
match and shot at the titles as a result of
inadvertently hitting Charlotte and everything. Next thing, you know, Roxanne
(42:23):
Perez seems like maybe she's getting ready to go for
her finisher. Alexa counters and it kind of seems as
though maybe alexis thinking about the sister Abigail when she
just kind of gets this weird sense and she's looking
over her shoulders she sees Charlotte Flair. Charlotte has this
pissed off look on her face, like maybe she is
about to go ballistic on Bliss. Next thing you know,
(42:48):
we see Rakil Rodriguez, who comes into the camera frame
from the other side. She enters the frame and we
see Charlotte, So now we understand what exactly was going
on here. Looks like Charlotte's eyes was locked on Raquel
the whole time, trying to see what she was gonna do.
Charlotte immediately comes in there seems like she's getting ready
to knock the head off of Alexa Blist, but instead
(43:11):
knocks the head off of where kel Rodriguez sets up
Alexa Blist to do the Sister Abigail one two three,
we get new women's tag team champions. That way a
solid matchup. You know, I've been watching Charlotte Flair. I've
got to be one of the few. The few, it's
(43:34):
a very very short list that has always defended Charlotte.
I know we've had people over the years, Charlotte's always winning.
What the hell, man, why why here's she go politiket
and all this? And I never ever perceived it that way. Never, never,
(43:54):
And I've always said, yo, she gets a bad ravus
for me. It's been one of those you better give
this one her flowers while she's still here, because you know,
once she's gone and everything, you know, that's that's pretty
much it. You ain't gonna really realize how good you
had it until she's gone. Basically, people like her is gone.
And it's nice to see that. And I don't know
(44:16):
if it is because of the latest round of interviews
that Charlotte Flair has done or what, but it seems
like there is this great new sense of appreciation, but
most importantly respect for Charlotte, and it's essentially breathed new
life into her. Definitely from a from a creative standpoint,
(44:42):
definitely from a character standpoint. So I don't want to
see this get broken up anytime soon, because Charlotte is
finally over and then my book more over than that.
Dag on Tiffany Stratton. We're gonna talk about Tiffany Stratton
the hot little bit. I'm I'm probably gonna ruffle some
fetters when it comes to Tiffany Stratton. But just hear
(45:04):
me out, hear what I gotta say, and all of
that stuff and everything. But good, good tag match. Better
than I was actually expecting from this one. I gotta say.
Next up, Carry and Cross Sammy Zay. By the way,
have you guys voted on our Summer Slam polls yet?
(45:25):
If you haven't, if you're watching this via Twitter, we
got the poll up for you guys right now. Go
show that some love Twitter at the RCWR show. Vote
that way. Very last thing I'll put out so you'll
be able to find it with ease my YouTube community.
You can hit on over to the postsection at YouTube
dot com. Forward Slash DRCWR show and you can vote
that way. Let's talk about this carry Across Sammy z
(45:48):
Ain match and afterwards, I want to definitely show some
love to our sponsors for tonight's episode, because we got
to pay some bills. Let's talk carry Across Sammy zan Ah.
By the way, that women's tag match that was thirteen
minutes and some change, Sammy Zaine picking up the w
(46:11):
over Carrion Cross eight minutes and change. I wish this
match would have gone a little bit longer. From my
personal taste here, I kind of felt a little bit sighted,
just a little bit slighted. I felt like here, I
(46:34):
wasn't expecting this. I gotta be honest with you, I
wasn't expecting this. But the more and more that I
thought about it, I said, you know what, I'm okay
with Sammy Zain going over.
Speaker 1 (46:49):
Now.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
If you wanted to make an argument to me that lee.
As far as the matches for tonight's SummerSlam, this was
honestly the weakest match on the entire car, I would
say to you, yeah, yeah, I can give that to you.
But if you're a fan of Sammy zan and or
(47:10):
a fan of carrying Cross internally, you're gideonside, especially if
you're a Cross fan, You're going yo any opportunities that
I'm able to get to see Cross get some type
of love, especially if it's on a pay per view,
Like I'll freaking take it. Was there a whole lot
of meat on this sandwich as far as this match goes, No, uh,
(47:35):
not really thinking about all the drama that has played
out between these two guys over the past couple of
months and how you know it all had played out
here in this match. I was okay with it. I
think I would have booked it maybe a little bit
(47:56):
differently though, Like I loved hearing Carry and Cross and
Scarlet Egg Sammy on and basically they're saying to him,
say it, say it, because a lot of times Carrion
is on the offense, and I mean he is just
knee to the face, rubbing his knee all up in
Sammy's vase, smacking him around, trying to make him say
(48:17):
and he got Scarlet right there at ringside, and she's
just you know, go ahead, say it, say it right.
I would have done a little bit more than just that.
That's what I'm saying to you, guys. I wish this
match would have gone a little bit longer, because I
really really would have played around with this. Now. I
love the fact that they had Scarlet at one point
(48:39):
reach for that trademark lead pipe that Cross introduced to
Sammy's ribs and back some weeks ago. Matter of fact,
he attacked him twice with that pipe, right, So that's
that bone of contention, isn't it. When you stop and
think about it, it's like, Oh, there's that damn pipe, right,
that's gonna be the story. The main focal point right
(49:00):
here is how much of a role is that pipe
going to play, if at all, in this matchup. I
love the role of Scarlet and her involvement in this one,
But man, when I look at Scarlet and Cross, I
love you, dude, you know I love you, man. I
got nothing more respect for you, and definitely respect for
your woman. But when I see a woman like Scarlet,
(49:24):
she has this mesmerizing, mysterious allure that honestly should kind
of stop people dead in their tracks. And I really
wish that at some point something along those lines these
past couple of weeks would have somehow played up to
that and really spilled into this match where Okay, It's
(49:49):
obvious Scarlett has this allure about her where you know her.
Her victims essentially are are in a tran so to speak.
I'm not saying they gotta be y'all who, but you
get what I'm saying. Right that way, it can really
(50:09):
play up to her and whether you want to say
mind powers, whatever the hell is going on. Right once
she locks eyes with you, you are just in a trance.
I think many people can relate to that. I know
for me in my case, almost every other day I'm
looking at one of my three Yorkies and I actually
(50:31):
have a Superman moment with one of them. Usually every
day it's my youngest one, Holly. I will wake up
at times and she will be on my chest, just
like the dagg On Crypto and Superman. She'll be on
my chest, wagging her tail, looking at me, dead in
the eyes, and we'll just be locked for like a
(50:51):
couple of minutes, just looking into each other's eyes, right
and then and then the reality hits she wants to
eat in the case as a Sammy Zay pipe to
the back of you don't okay, So I wish there
would have been a little bit more involvement from Scarlet,
but it's kind of one of those I'll take what
I can get. But that pipe was the main focal
(51:16):
point because this either could have went down two ways.
Either Cross was going to use that pipe or Sammy
was going to use that pipe and win. So final
moments of this matchup crossloading up the pipe while Scarlett
(51:37):
was distracting the referee, but the pipe manages to get
taken away somehow, allowing Zaye to knock him back down.
Scarlet would then end up handing Sammy Zaying the pipe
and tells him to embrace your dark side. Zang throws
(52:02):
it down. You're going dawn so close that no cigar? Okay,
all right whatever. This distraction lets Cross grab a roll
up for a near fall, which ultimately sets up Sammy
Zang to connect with the Halluah kick one two three,
(52:24):
So obviously, pertestipulation, Sammy Zing wins, carrying Cross. Hey we're done, dude,
We're done? Are we really? Are we really done? And
I just kind of feel that maybe we're not quite
done just yet. What I personally would love to see
(52:48):
happen with Carrion Cross right here, Yes, they're done, but
they're not that sounds very weird, right, sounds like I
just talked out of both sides of my mouth. Let
me explain. So, yes, Sammy moves on. But what I
would like to see happen with Carrion Cross now is
(53:10):
I would like to see Carrion Cross go I don't understand.
You know, all the signs were there, he should have
embraced it. I don't get it. What did I miss?
I just don't understand. How could this guy like I've
never been wrong before? You know this, Scarlett, like I've
(53:31):
never been wrong before. I don't get this. I want
to see Carrion Cross over the next several weeks, become
obsessed and trying to figure out why, why did this
not work? Why did Sammy what is is? You know,
like because he's that sure of himself that Sammy is
(53:52):
a bad guy. And during the course of the next
several weeks, I would love to see Carrion Cross go
down this mental spiral of a breakdown. And I'm telling
the producers and creative at WWE. If you have never
seen Jack Nicholson in two thousand and one's The Pledge,
(54:17):
go watch that movie. And by the end of the movie,
it was like one of the last great movies of
the two thousands that Jack Nicholson did. By the end
of that movie, to watch the mental breakdown of Jack
Nicholson's character, You're going, holy shit. I mean, it had
(54:43):
remnants of one flew over the Cuckoo's nests, but amplified
even more. I personally felt amplified even more. But that
right there, that is what I ultimately would like to
see happen with the Carry and Cross character, right down
to the point that he's trying to figure all this out,
(55:04):
like how could he be so wrong and everything. I'd
love to see it go to a point where maybe
Cross just you know, he shaves his head not for nothing.
I remember in a recent interview, somebody had said to him, Yo,
what's going on with the ballhead? When are we going
to see the ball head make its return? It just
seems like, you know, with your Moniker and all that.
(55:26):
And he answered I like the way he answered that question.
He said something along the lines of and I'm hoping
I'm not I'm not shortchanging what he said, but it
was something along the lines of, when that bald head
does return, you will definitively know that it is for
the right reasons. He's basically going, Okay, Ultimately, this is
(55:52):
where the true character is, right, Like, that's the character
in its truest form, right, And his whole thing was
it should be a really big deal if and when
that hair is removed, and so yeah, I would like
to see him have a mental breakdown over the course
of the next several weeks, a couple of months, whatever. Hey,
(56:15):
I don't know if maybe you eventually have a Paul
Hayman kind of cross paths and say, let's get you
back on the right saddle or what. But I would
like to see something play out where Cross just felt
in his heart of hearts he was right, and maybe
along the way, some superstars come up to him, you
gotta let it go, man, you gotta let it go,
(56:36):
and he kind of snaps on them boom, instant acme feud,
And who knows, maybe in the next six months it
turns out he was right, Sammy was faking all along,
or whatever you want to call it. Right, as far
as Sammy Zy for you Sammy z Ain fans out there,
(56:57):
I would like to believe that now, at least for
the foreseeable future, till we get the Monday Night, Sammy
z Ain can definitely move on. As far as what
I'd like to see happen for Sammy next, honestly, Oh,
here's the thing. I need to see Seamus and Rusf
(57:17):
maybe go at it one more time, put a fork
in it for that time being. But then I would
like to see Rusef and Sammy Zay in a program
with one another. I think that would be pretty damn entertaining.
Sound off. Let me know what you guys think about
that one. Nick Hogan was in the house as there
(57:39):
was a tribute to his father, terryble leya the Halkster
Hawk Hogan. And by the way, I have it on
good authority that there were a decent amount of you guys,
particularly those of you that work in the business, that
had appreciated my covery of Halconia, and you appreciated my
(58:04):
perspective in tackling the good and the bad, you know,
the controversies with him and and I just got that
news a couple of hours ago, and I was quite
taken back. I was like, not the only thing I
had learned, but to hear that there are a lot
of you all that you know, that means a lot
I appreciate that. I try to do my best to
(58:25):
make sure that you know I look at it the
most neutral way. But give it to you straight up. Okay,
give it to you straight up, like what we're about
to do in a hot second, because we got to
talk about the Smackdowns Women's title. Tiffany Stratton versus Jade
Carr gill or as I like to call it, that
(58:49):
don't work for me. Tiffany Stratton brother taken on Jade
cart Gil. We'll talk a lot more about that match
in a hot second. Right now, I want to recognize
a couple our sponsors for this edition of the RCWRS Show.
First up, I want to recognize the good folks over
there at IME Radio, the IMME Radio station. It's your
(59:12):
global soundtrack featuring the hottest indie artists and nineties to
two thousands throwbacks mixed with today's top forty hits. Think
of it as a world tour for your ears, delivering
crowd favorites and hidden gems from the US, Europe, Canada.
(59:35):
Tune in, vibe out, discover your next favorite track. These
guys play twenty four seven. I love that about them,
so go check them out. Look them up the ime
I radio station. I promise you. I've been listening to
them off and on for the past week and a half,
(59:56):
maybe almost two weeks, and man, I I love these
guys big time, love them big time. I've actually ended
up checking out some artists. I'm going, wait a minute,
these guys exist, Like, how did I not know about
this song? And usually I know like all things music
and all that. So it's nice being able to discover
(01:00:19):
something new. And also I want to give a shout
out to the following author. I want to make sure.
I want to make sure I showed this guy some
love here. So we literally just got this fresh off
the press. Here. Shout out to author Gary S. Park.
(01:00:39):
He's got a new book that is called Parenting with
God's Heart, Loving your Children through Faith. And what I
thought was really cool about this book is the fact
that you know, I know a lot of you guys
that have grown up on me and everything. So I
know I'm an old head now right, I'm still young.
(01:01:01):
I'm very young. But you know, as far as podcasting,
like you, I say, what a lot of you guys
are saying, You're like Lee's the og and all this
other stuff and I appreciate that, I really do. But
I know a lot of you guys that grew up
on me. You eater have children of your own now
or you're getting ready to have children, and you look
(01:01:23):
at the crazy times that we are in right now.
You want to try to do your best to make
sure that your kids that's coming into this world are
off on the right foot, that they have the best guidance, love,
compassion that you can give them and everything. But sometimes
(01:01:45):
that might not be enough. So I definitely would recommend
to you guys. I did read the first handful of
pages that made it probably about thirty pages in. I
want you guys to check this book out again. It's
called Parenting with God's Heart, Loving your Children through Faith,
this new book by Gary S. Park. Those are our sponsors.
(01:02:08):
I know normally you guys you're like, ah, sounds good.
I'll check it out. Hopefully you'll definitely check those out,
and I think you'll be glad you did. I try
to make sure that when we hook up with sponsors,
it's definitely something that a lot of people can relate
to and everything. What I can't relate to is this
SmackDown Women's Championship between Tiffany Stratton and Jade car Gill.
(01:02:32):
Oh Man, let's dive into this. Where do I begin?
I did not like the fact that Tiffany Stratton was
no selling the moves from Jade car Gill. I don't
know who the producer was for this match, but I've
(01:02:53):
got a serious bone of contention to pick. Has nothing
to do with the fact that Jade car Gill did
not become the women's champions. I don't even have an
issue with that, okay. And to the point, like, I
appreciated all the comments that came in from people that
were sounding off about this match, particularly the finish, because
(01:03:14):
there were a lot of people that were upset over
the fact that Jade did not win. A lot of
people felt that she should have won. And everything I'll
read to you just a couple of comments that you
guys can kind of get the idea and everything right
that and like that, Wrestling God, absolutely not. As far
(01:03:35):
as you know, Jade should have won, Absolutely not. You
have a correction as far as was it the right
move that Tiffany Stratton should have retained over Jade car Gill,
Wrestling God said, absolutely not. You have a star in
Jade car Gill and you don't pull the trigger on
(01:03:56):
her winning the championship is a terrible decision. Triple LH
does it again? No confidence? Valuda saying how are you
gonna make Jade beat Osca? And when Queen of the
Ring just to lose? Here a couple of more comments,
(01:04:18):
Sam saying, correct move, Tiffany hasn't had a bad defense yet.
Keep the momentum going, Ti Sanchez, Yeah, it was the
right call. Jade ain't ready for it. I was worried
when they kept talking about how long Tiffy had the title.
I'll read it to you three more. King says Jade's
(01:04:44):
still too sloppy in her execution. She needs to go
to NXT or stick to mid car titles. Marty, I
think it was actually brilliant storytelling. Jades failed to get
her opponent's shoulder down multiple times on TV this year,
and the refs have had to cover for her her
(01:05:06):
losing this match in story because she watched a pen
is perfect and r et. You guys won more. Ah, nothing,
I'm not looking for anything, long wind did Dawn. Dawn
had this to say female perspective here, Dawn had this
to say, Yes, sadly Jay needs more time. It's probably
(01:05:30):
Tiffany time to lose the title, but Jade isn't quite
ready yet. So that's where we stand on just some
of what's going on out there with comments for this
match up. Look my two cents on this match from
a distance, both women, both women still have a long
(01:05:54):
ways to go. You get past Tiffany Stratton's Tiffy time,
what else does she really have? There's really nothing else
that's there. Her promos, they're nothing to be desired of
as of late. It's not quite at the level of
(01:06:16):
what Lyra of Valkyria put out there. You know this
past Monday night on RAW. You know, it's nothing of
that magnitude. But you know, as far as Tiffany's promos goes,
there's really and as I've said consistently, as far as
the end ring ability goes, Tiffany, she's on point. Something
(01:06:37):
was way off in this match though. That just really
rubbed me the wrong way. Go back and watch this match.
Tiffany was not selling for Jade Cargill. Now what do
I mean by that When I say selling? Yeah, everybody
knows the terminology, but what I mean is visually and
the question. I'm asking you guys visually, what did you
(01:06:59):
see when you were looking at that match. I'm gonna
tell you what I saw, at least on my TV.
Every single time Jade executed a move, I'm seeing Tiffany
land on her back and immediately gets her ass right
back up and goes into the next move. I mean,
(01:07:20):
there was virtually no selling of these moves from Tiffany
Stratton at all. I'm keeping in mind that Jade car
Gill is supposed to be this big, tough you know,
she's this bad bitch you don't want. You don't want
mess with her, so she's gonna mess you up, right.
She's this big, strong, powerhouse Amazonian. I mean, this woman
(01:07:44):
looked like the Greek gods just one day cracked the
thunder in the sky and they just said, boom, let
there be Jade Cargill. Okay, when you got somebody with
that kind of look and you're selling her as a
powerhouse and all that, you know, it's very interesting. You
have her to some of the points that you all
had made and just through my points of observation and
(01:08:06):
all that. So you build this woman up, you have
her wing the you ever win the Queen of the
Ring tournament. You have her goalver oscar a multi time
women's champion, future Hall of Famer, you have her go
(01:08:26):
through all of that, and you serve her up to
Tiffany Stratton. And yeah, granted you had Jade bumping a
lot more than usual, But why are we having Jade
played down to the level of Tiffany. Not that Tiffany's
(01:08:48):
level is bad, but if I've been selling Tiffany Stratton
as a powerhouse, then Jade, forgive me. If I'm selling
Jade Cargill as a powerhouse and Tiffany Stratton is my
technical girl that's got speed on her side as well,
(01:09:11):
then I need to produce this match in a way
where Jade is coming in at Tiffany from the Okay,
I'm gonna come at you from a power standpoint. I'm
gonna come at you with some strikes. I'm gonna come
at you with some swings. If I'm able to grab
on you, I'm gonna show you no mercy. I'm gonna
(01:09:35):
drag your ass around. I'm a body slam you, I'm
a bench press your ass. I'm gonna do whatever I
gotta do. And yeah, that really had rubbed me the
wrong way. It really really did some of the moves.
There were a couple of power moves that Jay car
Gill got in there, but I just felt that it
wasn't power heavy enough. This would have been a great
(01:10:00):
opportunity for WWE and the producers to showcase, Look, Jade
is so much more than Braun. She's got brains as well.
I would have loved it if it would have been
a case where early on Jade would have done something
where she focused on a limb of Tiffany's. We know
(01:10:23):
Tiffany likes to do a lot of not really aerial attacks,
but we've seen her repertoire. She likes doing the handstands, flips,
going into a corner, wham. You know, we know about
the prettiest moonsow ever, you know all that type of stuff.
She relies on those legs. So it would have been
(01:10:44):
great to see Jade go in there, and at least
you could have told the story that, okay, obviously from
Jade's last match with Oscar, Jade is learning, and the
way that could have been fed to your commentators and
then really selling the hell out of Jade really built Hey,
Jade has done her homework, not for nothing. She has
(01:11:05):
scouted it out, and it kind of seemed like maybe
this match was gonna go off to that type of
a start. I remember early on. I think it was
a case where Tiffany Eater did her little handstance flip
or she did whoa, she did something, and Jay just
(01:11:25):
said pump kick bitch and knocked her assle knocked her
right on her ass and Tiffany went rolling out of
the ring immediately, and I'm going, oh, it's gonna be
one of those kind of matches, like, oh, okay, great,
and then it quickly just the blueprint just went out
(01:11:45):
the window. Tiffany, though, what I need for Tiffany to
work on more. I need Tiffany to work more on
selling selling. It's really no fault of her. She don't
know no better. But to the people that's producing this match,
they should know better. You should not have Tiffany go
(01:12:08):
in there and is not selling all the stuff that
Jade's putting out there. Right now, to the point when
Jade wins the match with the Delias Moon saltev she's
holding a championship up and she's just looking at the
camera like, yeah, I did it. And why I did it,
and why she's not huffing. She's not puffing, she's not
(01:12:31):
even breaking a sweat, she's not even pretending to breed
heavenly And I'm literally going, what the fuck did I
just watch? If that wasn't a match, what the fuck
did I just watch? That was not good? Go back
and watch that match. Now that I've said what I've said,
for some people that are Tiffany fans, you'll go, oh,
it was a great performance by Tiffany. Was like, notice,
(01:12:51):
I'm not dogging Tiffany as far as her d ring ability.
What I am getting on is the fact that of
the art of selling and you know, again she don't
know no better. She's still green. Whoever the producers were
for that match, they really should have laid very heavily.
(01:13:13):
They obviously, and honestly, for my perspective, they shortchanged both
of those girls, Both of those girls, and to have
the match in basically with Tiffany beating Jade Cleanley in
the middle of the ring. So we build up Jade,
(01:13:39):
we served her on this platter, and it was pretty
much for no, no, no. Granted, Jade still has a
little ways to go. I'll meet you halfway on that.
I'll meet you halfway on that. Well, man, can we
at least do something where Jay thought she had it?
But no, not quite. Tiffany's able to turn it around
(01:14:00):
and bam, just like that, matches over and Jay's like, damn,
I was that close. Well, you know, if it wasn't
for and then it could always be a what if?
What if? What if? What if? It could always be
a what if? Now looking at what happens next. As
far as Tiffany Stratton goes, your guess is as good
as mine. I know Bianca Belair recently came back from
(01:14:24):
a little injury, and I don't know, maybe that's on
the horizon. Maybe we're gonna circle back to that. Who knows.
Let's keep rocking, Let's keep rolling. Go on to our
next match. Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul taking on Randy Orton
and Jelly Roll. Surprisingly, this is I got this one wrong.
(01:14:48):
Surprising as well as the for the other match I
had Jade going over. Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul defeating
Randy Orton and Jelly Row seventeen minutes, ten seconds. Thoughts
about this matchup here, good amount of time more than
(01:15:10):
I had anticipated. To be honest with you, guys, jelly
Roll tried, tried, tried as hard as he could, but
he definitely looked very winded, very out of it at
many points. But you know what, this dude gave it
everything he had. I know that we're at a point
(01:15:32):
right now where everybody's going hands down, bad Bunny, greatest.
Oh sorry, Galactus, sorry brother, Sorry I met no disrespect homie.
By the way, how about that? Huh? Is that badass?
Or is that bad ass? This is the Galactus popcorn bucket?
Why would you put butter and popcorn in this? Okay
(01:15:53):
you want to put popcorn in here? Okay, at least
you can get a rag afterwards, just clean it. But
I've seen videos where people that were at the theater
or whatever they put hot butter. That's an insult. That
is an insult. Hey, just for good luck, check this
out Coallectus Hungers. You guys definitely want to check out
(01:16:17):
the YouTube channel later this week. Oh, you guys can't
really see it that well? Can you let me move
the mic? There you go. Now, you guys can see
it a lot better. Now, you guys can see it
a lot better. Colectus Hungers that would just hit that back.
So I know, bad Bunny, there's that standard Bad Bunny. Hey.
(01:16:39):
You know, greatest celebrity turn wrestler, Yeah man, Logan Paul
hey Man, forget about it. Look, I hear you, guys,
I hear you guys. Now, for me, personally, every celebrity
that comes in there, I'm not expecting them to be
at the Logan Paul Bad Bunny level. I'm not going
(01:17:00):
to rate them at that level. We that's just unfair.
I mean not unless it is whoa. You know, It's
kind of one of those type of deals. I'm gonna
judge accordingly Jolly Row for what he was able to do.
I'll admit to you, guys, I've seen better, I've seen better,
(01:17:22):
But he did pretty good. He did pretty good. Now,
the wrestling history that I have in my head and everything,
was it at the level of David Arquette good from
back in the day? Not quite? Not quite? Was it
(01:17:43):
better than Jay Leno? Oh fuck yeah, it was definitely
better than Jay Leno. Was it better than Lawrence Taylor?
M No? No. Was it better than Travis Scott For
that brief little hiccup that was Travis Scott in the WWA.
(01:18:05):
Oh yes, by far, by far, Jelly Roll didn't embarrass himself.
I thought that with all the preparation that he did
and everything I felt in my heart of hearts, he
did a very solid job. And look, it wasn't a
case where Jelly Roll only got in there for maybe
(01:18:26):
like three minutes total. Oh, he saw a big chunk
of time in that matchup, and he was bumping like
a mofo. He was bumping like a mofo. I didn't
think he was gonna even if you would have told
me jelly Row was going to be set up over
on the announcers table while Louy and Paul pretty much
(01:18:46):
took two prime bottles, did his own little stone code
and doing a leap frog from top ring posts crashing
on the jelly Roll, I would have said, get the
hell out of here. What is jelly Roll thinking? What
is jelly Row thinking? But jelly Rowe, I mean, he
(01:19:07):
literally coughed up his body for our entertainment this weekend.
Into that, I tip my hat and I say thank you. Now,
look I'll be frank. I'll be frank. I'm still not
a fan of his music. I don't ever see myself
listening to his music. But he's done enough as far
(01:19:29):
as the interviews he's done showing the willingness to cross brand,
cross promote, He's done enough that has definitely caught my
attention from the media standpoint of Okay, Jelly Row's gonna
guess host where, Oh he's gonna do snl Okay, I'll
(01:19:50):
watch that. I'll watch that. Oh he's gonna be presenting
this award and it's gonna show on TV. Okay, I'll
go ahead. He's got my attention now. I think he's
really really good presenter and the fact that he shows
so much dedication to that respected craft that says a lot.
(01:20:10):
You can't teach that you either got that passion, that
curiosity and all that. You either got it or you don't.
You can't force that one to somebody. So I thought
he did really good though Jelly Row did did okay
talk about the final moments of this matchup, which was
obviously a pretty good one. So towards the end, McIntyre
(01:20:35):
going up, gets caught into a sup plex, Jelly Row
sets him up to get back up. By the way,
I love the fact that Jelly Row wanted to open
this matchup, was owning Logan Paul pretty good until he
tagged in Drew McIntyre. Jelly Rows looking at Randy Orton.
Randy's like, give me the tag, dude. Jelly's like, no,
(01:20:56):
I can do this. I can freaking do this. Okay,
all right, we'll go get him. Then, once he sizes
up to McIntyre, Jelly Row realizes he's made a mistake
and he turns around looking at Randy like, dude, I'm sorry,
And I just love how Drew McIntyre pimp slaps him
(01:21:16):
from the back, just hit him on the back of
the hit just pop and Jelly kind of sells this
he hit me. I kind of popped on that one.
That was pretty hilarious. I figured that they were gonna
do a spot there pretty early on where they were
gonna isolate Jelly Row from tagging in Randy Orton. That
(01:21:38):
went down exactly how I thought that was pretty much
gonna play out, which made a lot of sense in
the world. Towards the final moments of this one, though,
Clothesline setting up a choke slam to Logan Paul, then
a boss Man slam or the black Hole Slam, as
I like to call it to McIntyre. Pauls up but
(01:22:03):
dives into a power slam, leaving McIntyre to hit the
claymore Rko drops. McIntyre pretty much sets up Paul to
post up on Orton Logan, Paul hitting the frog splash
on jelly Row. The one, the two, the three pretty
much over and out on that one fun match, fun match.
(01:22:28):
Did it feel like Jelly Row was trying out for
the WWE? Uh No, it didn't come off that way.
It didn't come off that way at all. If anything,
If anything, the way I looked at it, I said, Okay, look,
we know these celebrity wrestler this is the new era
(01:22:52):
of WWE that ran well, not for nothing, we've been
in it for many, many years, but ww is really
really you know, normally WWE, their history would be okay,
who are the established and they've never really been known
to go the indie row, you know, go the but
(01:23:12):
they seem to be much more receptive, right, They're understanding
these new algorithms, particularly when it comes to Yo, this
person's got blah blah blah a million plays on Spotify
and it's like, oh, uh so, what record label are
they with are where they with Clive? Are they with Jive?
(01:23:32):
Are they with Mercury? Like? No, No, they pretty much
sold their own mixtape from the back of their car.
Whoa when they got how many plays on Spotify? They
got thirty five million plays. Oh well, it must be
doing something right. We need to tap into that, right.
That's just basically how they're rolling here. No. I thought
with what Jelly roll did and doing the whole wrestler
(01:23:54):
celebrity crossover, I thought it hit all the marks. I
think it'll hold up in more recent memory. Can we
give a quiet nod to Logan? Paul Logan, Paul was
like the Seawn Michaels in this match, just bumping his
little ass off throughout this joint. I got a good
(01:24:15):
entertaining stuff that was going on right here. And it's
actually nice to see that the villains get a rare
w here because I think for a lot of people
they were expecting for there to be that good feel
moment and everything. By the way, following up from what
we talked about on Friday's RCWR show, we came on
(01:24:35):
live after SmackDown went off the air. I'm curious how
many of you are were successful and pre ordering your
LGN toys from Target. Hopefully you had took my advice
and you were able to snag yourself a couple there.
Last I had saw, and it was about maybe two
(01:24:56):
hours before the post show. Here, last I saw, all
are sold out except for Logan Paul. Nobody wants Logan Paul.
What's going on with that? Y'all despise the man that much.
I have seen Logan Paul available since day one the
figures went on sale for Target. I bet you as
(01:25:18):
soon as the show is over, and I'm gonna check,
I'm gonna laugh my ass off if it turns out
I go online and Logan Paul is still available. It's like, Wow,
that's just so sad. Like seriously, I don't know, maybe
Logan Paul should end up buying all of them out,
just you know whatever. Whatever. CEM Punk gunther World Heavyweight
Championship match. If you guys are just now tuning in,
(01:25:40):
we had talked about this match, but I don't think
we really went in depth in depth on it like that,
But we did talk about this at the beginning of
the show and everything. I loved seeing CM Punk come
out there. Don't think your man didn't notice. I noticed
Phil Brooks Chick Magnet Punk. I noticed that dude coming
(01:26:01):
on the Cookie Monster. I noticed that man coming out
wearing them down. Fantastic for First Step Colors. You ain't
getting that past me, my comic burk, my comic book
nerdy ass, you ain't gonna get that past me. I'm
literally snapping my fingers going I see that. I see No, seriously,
I love that. I love that. That was a really
(01:26:24):
bad ass a tire that he was pushing there. Cempunk
defeating Gunther main event match for the World Heavyweight Championship
thirty minutes and some change. This was my god, Man,
(01:26:44):
I'm gonna say something. I think a lot of people
would actually agree if you really kind of stop and
think about it. As far as best performances of the
year from Goonther, this match is it as far as
one of the best matches from cm punk for twenty
twenty five, This match is it as far as a
(01:27:08):
match of the Year candidate for WWE four twenty twenty five.
This match definitely gets my nod, gets my nomination right, definitely.
I'm putting this in a little foul cabinet here, man,
I mean when it was all said and done, Goother
was just throwing everything at this man, and you honestly
(01:27:33):
just felt that the way this match was going to
play out, the longer this match went, then the more
in favor it would be for Gunther. But there was
CM punk right there, matching chop for chop, matching move
for move. The level of violence CM Punk helped take,
(01:28:01):
at least in my eyes, Punk help add a whole
new layer to Gunther. Even in defeating him, he added
a whole new layer to him and what he added
to him. Believe it or not, this is gonna sound
really weird, but when you really take a step back
(01:28:23):
and you think about the opponents that Gunther has faced,
even right before Goldberg, Okay, there's one thing that CM
punk was really able to bring out of him since
Guther's been on the main roster that really has not
(01:28:44):
been brought out before, and that's grit, that's toughness, that's durability.
Punk was able to bring all that out of Gunther
here tonight. I've seen my fair share of the matches
since he's been on the main roster and everything, and yes,
I definitely remember his stuff in NXT and and all
(01:29:07):
that good stuff, and if I'm gonna go back to
the NXT days, not since Dragon Off, to be perfectly
honest with you, not since Dragon Off, but like since
Gunther's been on the main roster. Nah, Punk, in my eyes,
at least, Punk has been the guy that has been
able to bring out all of those out of Gunther.
(01:29:27):
So definitely, I would like to believe a whole new
side uh or two or three uh to fans and everything,
especially with the level of violence as it had, you know,
went up a notch and everything with the anarchy and
all that. I know some people are gonna look at
this kind of weird and go, well, damn Lee, Like seriously, dude,
(01:29:52):
So we have guther goal for Goldberg at Saturday Night's
main of Hin, only for him to lose the day
titled to see them Punk, Like, what was the whole
point of Like it kind of doesn't make sense, dude,
Like what the hell? Look I told you guys a
(01:30:15):
couple of weeks back, WW and shout out to Mike Johnson,
a PW insider from his respective reporting. As far as
WWE was concerned for Goldberg showing up at SummerSlam, it
was never discussed internally. That was never on the table.
That was never an option. It was always Saturday Night's
(01:30:37):
main event. That's what it was all about. So, you know,
all things considered, what I really, I mean really the
fan in me here is speaking now, what I really
want to see Bill Goldberg and see them Punk Summer
Slam match for the championship. No O, what I maybe
(01:31:01):
want to see Bill Goldberg defending championship against Punk and
Goonther in a triple threat match. Punk wins. Yeah, you
can give me that. You can give me that. I'll
take that. But look for all the tests and purposes
ww just again, Goldberg was never part of any Summer
(01:31:24):
Slam plans. So kind of interesting how everything just worked
itself out with all things considered here with this match
and everything. But they really really pushed the hell out
of each other and goother in this one. Definitely shows
(01:31:45):
time and time again, but definitely it was on full
display here tonight. Why Goonther is a fucking beast. I
love this one, good, good, good shit right here. Favorite
match of the night for me, hands down, and honestly,
this match for me definitely gets the highest grade rating
(01:32:05):
that's even possible. So for me to be able to
give it the highest grade possible. You know that lets
you know, this was definitely some fine quality a type
shit that we were watching right here. I was having goosebumps.
I was having shades of wrestling from yesteryear almost, And
(01:32:26):
it's so funny, like I'm not even necessarily thinking about
the Attitude era or anything like that. I'm just thinking
about those times where the wrestling in the ring told
the story, told you everything that you needed to know.
CM Punk trying to push past the fact that you know,
he is essentially now eleven years older from basically when
(01:32:54):
we last saw him in the WW or over eleven
years old. He's eleven years old since the last time
we saw him regularly in the WWE, right, I mean,
it's right. He's trying to push past that. He's trying
to get out of his own head, and you know,
he knows this is a daunting task and trying to
(01:33:15):
overthrow one of the longest reigning champions. Remember that weird
stat that WW kept putting out there all throughout the
joint and you're going, that's a hell of a stat.
Stats are made to be broken, though you're hearing for
eighty percent of this dude's time in WWE. This man
has been a champion. It's a hell of a damn
feat That's like the Golden State Warriors pretty much for
(01:33:39):
like the past decade, they've pretty much won five six championships.
That's like, well, that's that's a good little percentage of
that title reign. So we already talked about good match
though I don't have anything more to say about that.
Good back and forth. Loved it, good stuff. All right,
(01:34:02):
So now comes to part where and we already talked
about Seth Rollins Henry Turning. Oh you best believe come
Monday night, Row Seth Rollins is gonna have some daggers,
some daggers in his eyes. He is going to be
But look, Punk can only do but so much. He's
only one guy. Punk is gonna need some type of
(01:34:27):
a alliance of his own, if you will. And I
don't know, maybe Seem Punk needs to get on the
phone and call Tyrone No seriously, Maybe Cem Punk needs
to maybe figure out a way to reform the Nexus.
(01:34:50):
Maybe that's how you counter what's going on with I'm
just saying, I'm just saying, maybe maybe maybe ye had
some new members in there. Maybe you don't, but you
definitely you gotta. Maybe you bring back the straight Edge Society.
(01:35:11):
You gotta figure out something. You gotta fight fire with fire.
I'm very curious creatively where WWE is gonna go now
with this, because you know, you're looking at it from
a storyline standpoint. There's definitely some dark days ahead here
for WWE. You know, with seth Rawlins regime, that new
dangerous alliance. Who is really gonna be able to stand up?
(01:35:34):
And now, look, WWE could pivot in a way where
they go they could pivot in a way where remember
right before Rowlin's pretty much disappeared and all of that,
I do remember that we had Punk Sammy, we had
(01:35:54):
Jay Uso, and you know, not for nothing, but if
you want to, you can definitely at least somehow loop
everything back, connect with Roman Rings, get him involved in there. Right,
you still got that unfinished business, that unresolved animosity that
still exists between CM Punk and Roman Rains. Right, So
(01:36:17):
ww's got some messing directions that they can go if
they want to continue to pursue those respected guys, those
respected factions and all of that. But nice, good old
school wrestling for that main event that really really sold
the hell out of me. I gotta say, uh see,
(01:36:39):
from a psychological standpoint, Zaye versus Cross, I can't wait
to see what happens with the Cross character going forward,
Rowlin's cashing in, even though I had that in the
back of my mind, just to see that played out
the way that it did. Pretty good stuff. Not bad
for three and a half hours of a post shoal
So my high point, low point of the night. My
(01:37:01):
high point definitely see them Punk versus Gunther. My low
point of the night Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill because honestly,
if I have to pick one match where I could
have done without it or that don't impress me much. Yeah,
(01:37:26):
Tiffany Stratton and Jade car Gil. But see, here's the thing,
it's not ultimately on the girls. It's not all their fault.
It really comes down to the producers of that match,
I personally feel, so it's not all on them. I
think they'll be able to clean up and rebound though.
Going into Night two. Let's see how you guys have
(01:37:49):
voted on the Twitter poll at the RCWR show. See
how you guys have voted over here. By the way,
bron Breaker looks like he walked out limping quite a bit,
right down to the point that at the end of
the night we saw Seth, Rollins and Bronson reading all them.
(01:38:12):
They came out Breaker's leg his right leg was taped
up real real good. Kind of makes you wonder what's
going on there. I'm trying to see, by the way,
if I can find out anything about trying to see
if I can find out anything about bron Breaker. Did
(01:38:34):
I say Bronson read or bron Breaker? Hopefully I said
bron Breaker. As I tell you, I get my damn
bees mixed up sometimes. I'm just trying to see real quick,
if we got any updates. That's coming fresh out of
the Summer Slam press conference. Okay, so here's some breaking
news as far as headlines from the Summer Slam conference.
(01:39:00):
Triple H said that Jelly Row has already talked to
him about doing more with w W WEE. So that's good.
What else we got here, I'm just scrolling here trying
to see if there's anything else. I'm looking at some
(01:39:21):
video footage of Seth Rawlins trolling the panel right now.
Drew McIntyre reacted to seth Rawlins cashing in on cempunk, saying.
Speaker 6 (01:39:33):
Karma is a bitch. Karma is indeed a bitch. All right,
that's oh wow.
Speaker 2 (01:39:43):
They got some footage of Becky Lynch reacting to seth
Rawlins cashing in. She was backstage watching it. That's cool,
that is cool, that is cool. Yeah, I'm not seeing
anything else breaking right now from that Summer Slam, So
I think what we'll end up doing is from Night
(01:40:04):
ones conference. Well, definitely, any interesting other points should be
brought across to you. We'll mention it on Night two's
Summer Slam post show. But meantime, let's go to the poll.
Let's see what's going on here with you guys. Uh,
thirteen percent of you are giving Summer Slam a thumbs down.
(01:40:27):
Forty percent of you are giving it a thumbs up.
And we gave you guys on Twitter a bonus option.
Damn that seth Rawlins. That's the top dog right now.
Forty six percent of the votes. Appreciate you guys that
voted via Twitter. Let's see how you guys have voted
via YouTube here, sir says, see what we got here.
(01:40:56):
Forty three percent of you are giving Summer Slam a
thumbs down. Fifty seven percent of you are giving SummerSlam
a thumbs up. Appreciate you guys that voted. So yeah,
already going over the you know, great match, you know
high point, low point, I've already done that. H Now,
(01:41:21):
as far as the overall letter grade, this is night one.
I'm keeping in mind that this was night one. We
got one more night to go. But right now, for
Night one, I honestly would give Night one A. Oh,
(01:41:42):
I'll give it a B. I can't go higher, I
can't go lower. I'll give it a B. I think
with what seam Punk and Gonther did, if you were
to just take that whole match out, just take that
whole match out. Mmm, damn oof. I'm looking at the
(01:42:13):
card here that I'm struggling with this one. I'm looking
at the card here. I think without CM Punk and Goonther,
which definitely that's a A, that's A in my book. Yeah,
without that CM Punk Gunther match the card as it
(01:42:33):
is probably A maybe a C plus, maybe a C
a C plus. So having that Gunther CM Punk that
definitely helps. So I'm just looking at the rest of
the matches. Jelly Roll, Orton McIntyre and all them. Nah,
I'd probably give that one a C plus, Yes plus
(01:43:01):
Tiffany Stratton, Jade car Gill. That's a D. That's a
D D plus. That's final D plus Sammy Zay Carry
and Cross C plus Charlotte Bliss, Judgment Day B minus,
(01:43:24):
Jay Uso, Roman Reigns, Bronson Reed Brown Breaker. Maybe a
B minus, Yeah, maybe a B minus. Yeah. So I
think I think I'm rating it right. I think I'm
doing it right. But you guys can definitely sound off.
Let me know what you all had thought about Summer
Slam Night one, Meg, no mistake about it. We're gonna
(01:43:46):
