The songs that you've put on there. Um, I think one of them
that's pretty big as well, isis it Fight Fight Me to the Moon
That Yeah, it's Franks and Autrey. Yeah, and that's that's doing pretty
decent on there. I think thatthat actually like blew up. I was
not expecting not to like actually blowup because me, me and my dad
just like I go, you coverson he fails me. And we did

And yeah, so please join meand welcoming Scottie Berg as we find out
more about his busting music career andto see if he can balance life as
well. So Scotty, Hey,how are you going. I'm good?
How are you? I'm doing allright? So you are at home in
(03:29):
the Okanagan right now? I am. I am in the Okanagan. Yeah,
I'm kind of curious because, again, as I kind of mentioned in
the intro there, you're your career'skind of taken off a little bit.
Yeah, I would say, so, yeah, how does it feel to
be kind of like a small townguy just trying to live your teenage life
away and then all of a suddenyou're kind of exploding? You know,
(03:53):
It's kind of it's not kind ofcool, it's really cool. So I
do something that I love and topursue it, but also to be this
teenager that still goes to school andstuff. It's hard because a lot of
people like know you for being singing, and they don't know you for like
being yourself and like stuff like thatbecause they don't know you, so they
like put you as a singer.So I it's it's it's cool, That's
(04:14):
what I'm saying. And I mean, obviously you're following in some interesting footsteps.
I mean we have justin the rusionof a Canadian, um, Sean
Mendez, you know, who kindof found fame the same way you are
right now. Um, And I'mjust kind of curious what you what are
your thoughts on the following that pathand you can, for example, Justin
(04:38):
Bieber went one way, Sean Mendezkind of went another way in terms of
their personality and things like that.Where do you see yourself? Ah,
I don't really compare myself to thosetwo because I kind of just compare myself
to like myself, and I justkind of want to go my own way,
if you know what I mean.If you know, I think that's
yeah, yeah, I think that'sa great approach. Honestly, yeah right,
(05:01):
it's be you. Yeah. Yeah, that's kind of what I'm like
taking into it. Yeah awesome.I mean obviously your your parents are quite
quite supportive of the situation as well. Yeah. Um, and when did
you kind of get started? Youwere relatively young, like Tennis, I
think. Yeah, I started doingvoice lessons when I was about nine,
(05:24):
and I just carried on. I'msixteen now, so a couple of years.
A couple of years, okay,And I wasn't sure about the age
because I wasn't sure what when youwere actually bored. I just knew you
were like probably on that border offifteen. Um. So, when when
was your birthday? We don't mindme asking? It was yesterday? Oh
well, yeah, happy birthday.Thank you so much. Thank you.
(05:46):
Jeez. I feel kind of honoredday to hear out my show just after
your birthday. Um. So,yeah, you started off at ten and
what, like you said, youwere kind of taking lessons. But what
was kind of the first steps youdecided to take to kind of try and
push this forward, um in termsof you know, making videos or um,
(06:06):
singing it in school or whatever thecase may bee. Yeah, like
to keep doing like vocal lessons andstuff. I would also sing the national
anthem a lot. Okay, No, There's like this hockey team in town
and Clona called the Clone a Chiefs. I would sing there are a lot.
I would sing at a lot ofhockey games, like relatively, um,
(06:28):
you know a lot of wineries, wineries and Brerewies brewies. I kind
of really say, all right, yeah I would. I would just sing
around there bust a lot. Andit just came into like making my own
music and you know, just likewriting, going down to Nashville and just
evolving over time. Okay, soyou have been down to Nashville and all
(06:49):
that and yeah, yeah, yeah, Um, is that where you've done
somebody recording already or yeah, that'swhere I've done all my recording all of
it? Okay, yeah right, yeah, I wasn't sure get like an
in home studio you were doing stuffat or not yet not yet maybe in
the future. Okay, yeah, that's fair. Um. The other question
I was going to ask, yeah, speaking of you know, performing in
(07:13):
different events and things like that, where would you say is kind of the
either the most interesting or biggest eventyou've maybe performed at at this point,
biggest event I performed at there's myvocal where I take vocal lessons. It's
called Wentworth Music and every every yearthey held it two times. Two times
(07:34):
in a year. They do arock show and there's about a thousand people
that sit in sitting a theater andabout like fifteen or twenty songs go on
whole band in the vocalist and I'mgonna lead vocalist on one and I'm singing
on it and it's really cool.Okay, yeah, how long ago was
(07:54):
that? Ah? Probably last oneI did it was probably about two years
ago, I would say, Okay, yeah, actually yeah, so speaking
of I mean, not too manypeople are talking about it nowadays, but
two years ago that was kind ofgreat prime COVID time, Yeah, I
would say. So. Yeah,So did you find a little bit of
(08:15):
a dip in year your career movementduring COVID or Yes and no? Because
nowadays artists it's kind of all dependson social media, so like Instagram,
TikTok, that's how people are gettingfamous nowadays. So I was kind of
like trying to upload a lot ofstuff on TikTok and stuff because that's when
a lot of people are blowing up. And yeah, I kind of felt
(08:37):
a little dip in my career becauseyou know, I like performing live.
I like to busk and stuff likethat. But at the end of the
day, I could. I coulddo it when I when it's out,
okay, when COVID's done. Yeah. Nice. Can you play guitar?
Right, I do play guitar.Yeah, And did you learn that before
you started singing or No. Ilearned guitar about two years ago, so
(09:01):
when I was about like fourteen.Well, you seem you seem to be
a really quick study. Did yourfamily have like a history in music or
singing or anything like that. Iknow they don't actually, so yeah,
well, yeah, it's just me. That's very impressive. I wish um,
(09:28):
but yeah, I definitely can't singit just yeah, No, I
clear a room. That's what Ido. Um. I think you also
did an event. I don't knowif it was actually for the Hollywood Christmas
Parade or was it. Oh,it was for the Hollywood Christmas Preade.
It was okay, Yeah, Ijust read a quick little blurb on that.
(09:48):
I just wanted to ask you aboutthat. Oh, yeah, it
was awesome. It was November twentyseventh, I believe, and It was
my first ever read carpet and itwas awesome. All the pop rozi snapping
pictures and stuff and yeah, allthese blimps going down the red carpet.
Yeah, I was awesome. Didyou did you meet anybody famous or anything
(10:09):
like that while you were there?Yeah? I met Danny Trejo. Oh
awesome. Yeah, breaking back, that's how I know him. Yeah,
yeah, no, that's yeah. And uh he was he was in another,
he was in another couple of movies. But I can't really bring the
name to him right now. Yeah. Well, I think the one I
most known him for his uh machette. Oh that's it, that's it.
(10:31):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think that was one of his
bigger ones for sure. Oh forsure. Yeah. Um in any any
musicians or like us, she mightlook up to you that you may be
met there or anything like that orh not. Not any huge ones,
not not that I could attest to. Now, Okay, that's sure.
(10:52):
Well, I mean being in Nashvilleand doing some according, I'm assuming you
probably made a couple of people there. Oh yeah, yeah, I couple
couple. Yeah, anybody you wantto name. Not at the top of
my head. They're they're they werebig, but not like I don't know,
not, I don't know. Okay, that's right. What was the
(11:13):
first song that you kind of,I guess maybe broke you through and you
know, the numbers kind of skyrocketed. I'm pretty sure I know the answered
this. But there's a song calledNo Time to Waste, okay, and
that one got Oh I haven't lookedat the Spotify streams, but I think
that one got like two fifty twohundred fifty thousand streams. Um what else?
(11:41):
Dreams for sure? You know, probably Dreams. Dreams is doing.
God, it's like top forty ac and in America right now on the
charts, and it's climbing. It'sstill going up there, it is,
okay, Yeah, yeah, Iwas trying to find the numbers, but
I couldn't find them because I wantedto see where you actually were. But
oh, I don't know if they'rereadily available for the public or not.
(12:01):
But I don't know, I don'tknow. I got to look into that.
Yeah, it's very cool though,So yeah, breaking that top forty
that's always a number to hit, right, Yeah, because you've already kind
of mentioned it. Dreams itself isthat when you actually wrote yourself. I
did. I did write of myself. I wrote it with more people in
(12:22):
Nashville. I wrote there one inNashville two. Okay. And when it
comes to writing the music slash lyrics, did you focus more on one aspect
or the other? Like were youmore about the lyrics when you wrote that
or were you more about the musiclike I'm just kind of wondering or did
you were you like everything? I'mkind of everything. I kind of I
(12:45):
want the lyrics to be like good, so they're like, no, it's
like about a teenager and stuff likethat. But I also want to like
the melody and how like catchy it'sgonna be, and like how country will
it be? And how Popula Beeand stuff like that. Right, it's
all like in a in a mix. Yeah, yeah, fair enough.
(13:05):
Yeah is because of course, youknow, like you said, there's pop
country. Do you do you kindof lean one way or the other more
so more country more pop? Yeah? I kind of lean more pop because
I feel like that's how music isnowadays. I kinda wanted to lean towards
like Dan and Shay, the kindof like them. Okay, all right,
yeah, yeah very cool. UmSo if you don't mind, we'll
(13:31):
play dreams and we can talk aboutit after the fact. But if you
don't mind, maybe you can justgive a quick intro to maybe what the
song is about a little bit,and and video itself. For sure,
for sure, go right into it. Yeah, dreams is about I'm helping
a girl chair sur dream so she'llhelp me chase mind perfect right here we
(13:52):
are, folks. Dreams. It'sbeen said, it's been done. I
(14:24):
know you've heard it all before youroll your rise, but your smile says
you're in. So me and meby the creek were to day and tomorrow
meeting together, we'll say good byeto that old county line. Do you

(17:11):
awesome, dude, thank you, thank you. Yeah, it's very catchy.
Yeah yeah, yeah I could.I could see why it's clapping the
charts. A nice little bob too, Thank you, thank you. Um
you know what, I'm just gonnapop this up here. UM so,
folks, if you're watching and youwant to find a little bit more were
about Scottie as well, you canjust check out his website here. He's
(17:33):
got lots of great stuff on there, more videos things like that to check
out. Um, definitely do it. Um. Yeah, So, how
long I guess a did it taketo write the song? And I'm gonna
ask you a little bit about thevideos. How long did you take to
write the song? Oh? Itdoesn't write and record about two days?
(17:55):
Two days yeah okay, yeah, yeah day read the song, one day
to record okay, yeah, perfect. And so when it comes to the
video itself, so I'm assuming itwas filmed in your hometown there it was
actually filmed in Victoria, it wasokay, British Columbia. Yeah. And
who who actually do you know whoactually produced it and that kind of stuff.
(18:18):
The videographer Yeah, yeah, hisname is Sean Lynes. Okay,
yeah, yeah, he's awesome.Does he do mostly music videos or yeah?
Yeah he does, yeah, okay, yeah. I just have an
interest on that side, is inthe film side of things. So I
tend to want to say, yeah, hear those things, you know.
(18:40):
That's but it's all good. Sois this actually part of an album or
is this just a single? Atthe moment, it's a single right now.
I hope that I actually hope togo down to Nashville in May to
finish off my album because I wentdown to Nashville about a year ago and
I finished about five songs, includingdreams with that one. So I hope
(19:02):
to go down and May probably tofinish about five and then the songs they
did a year ago to come togetherto make an album. Nice and do
you have a kind of a timeWell you already kind of said like in
May right here hoping. Yeah,we're aiming from We're aiming from May.
Okay, very nice And do youguys you might not know this, but
(19:25):
do you have a direction where youwant to put it in terms of is
it just you can send it upto the radio stations or what? Do
you have a plan for it?I guess like the marketing side of things,
after marketing exactly. Yeah, yeah, send it to a lot of
radio stations. I'm hoping we couldsend it to Seer E Sex Sam and
(19:45):
it could play on some of thoseI'm hoping. Ah, yeah, I
don't know. I got a Igot a marketing team, so they're like
they push it out to like allthe radio stations stuff. That's kind of
what I'm hoping for. Every prettycool. They my song in the radio.
So you haven't actually heard it onthe radio yet Dreams one. Yeah,
(20:07):
no, I've heard Dreams on theradio. Oh I thought the album
Oh no, I was yes, sorry, I was talking to the marketing
side. I was talking yeah, okay, yeah, no, no,
it's so good. UM, soI'm kind of curious. So the first
time you did hear it on theradio, what were you thinking? It
was cool to like go to Nashvilleproduce a song and then to like hear
(20:30):
your final work on the radio. Is that it's pretty surreal? And where
were you? Do you remember whereyou were? I was driving in my
car to school. Actually, awesome, Yeah, dude, it was anybody
else in the car with you?Yeah, it was my It was just
my dad. Okay, So wereyou both popping along to it as you
(20:51):
were? Like, oh yeah,oh yeah, awesome. Yeah, that's
the way to do it. Sowhen it comes to school and things like
that, like how do you finda balance? I'm assuming your schedule it
was pretty packed at the moment.Oh yeah, it's packed. Uh.
Over the years, I've kind oflike bounced it out with my school life
and like my homework and like mymusic and stuff. I tend to like,
(21:14):
Oh, that's that's kind of atough question because I don't I don't
really know how to answer that,And that's fair, right, because it's
hard. I'm assuming you don't doa lot of in class studies really,
Oh no, I go to school. Oh, Okay. I wasn't sure
if he was kind of like tutoring. Yeah, yeah, I go to
school. Yeah, and how doyour friends kind of how do your peers
(21:37):
I guess not even just your friends, but yeah, the people you go
to school with, how do theykind of treat you? Well? They
love it. They support me alot, and I just appreciate it because
it's nice to have people support youand just say, just go chase your
dreams, right, Yeah, it'snice and then to find the success as
well as you. Yeah, you'retrying to do that right for sure?
Yeah, how to you? Thesong has actually been released on the radio
(22:00):
at this point or is it justDreams on the radio right now? Dreams?
Dreams is the big one? Yeah, okay on the radio, yeah,
because I do know that, Likeyou said on your website, there
for folks who want to go thereand check it out, but if you
um videos on there as well.So I just was something that was maybe
(22:21):
hit the radio. Uh one,you don't have to be alone. It
got it went on some radio stations, but Dreams is the biggest one so
far for sure. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, which I understand. Yeah,
it's a pop Yeah, you're you'rebig on the YouTube or YouTube on
the TikTok. Yeah, how manyfollowers do you have at this point?
(22:47):
Do you know? Oh, lasttime I checked forty five thousand. Okay,
yeah, but you got quite alike the songs that you've put on
there, Um, I think oneof them that's pretty big as well.
Is is it flight Flight Me tothe Moon? That? Yeah, it's
Franks to Audrey. Yeah, andthat's that's doing pretty decent on there.
Anything like that that actually like blewup. I was not expecting that to
(23:11):
like actually blow up because me,me and my dad just like I go,
you covers on he fails me andwe did one and it got like
half a million views. Wow,half a million, half a million.
Yeah, that's insane. Yeah,I wish this video would get happen,
But one day there we go.Um, So, where do you kind
(23:40):
of see yourself, not in thenear future, but maybe a little further
Like do you plan on doing alot of um touring things like that?
Is that kind of your plan?Yeah, I'm planning on doing festivals this
summer. I already have the CalgaryStampede Peach Fast out in peach Land,
and I'm really trying to like buildmy resume in festivals because then like I'll
(24:00):
get a maybe like an opening I'llopen for like an artist in the future.
Okay, Yeah, And do youhave like I don't know if you
have a schedule yet of work likesome of the best like actual dates or
anything at this point that you maybewant to share with people or I'm not
really familiar when those festivals are,so that's why I was kind of asking.
Yeah, the Calgary Stampede is inJune, and then I kinda I'm
(24:26):
kinda washing about when the Peach festis. Okay, Yeah, all right,
And have you been to the Companystamped before. I haven't. No,
Okay, I heard. It's awesomethough it's a it's an experience at
least at least for for newcomers. For sure, I'm from Calgary, so
um, I've lived with it,so I'm not as big of a fan
(24:48):
in me or oh yeah, butfor yeah, for people that I haven't
experienced as far as I'm concerned,Yeah, it's a great time for them.
So yeah, I'm excited. I'mexcited. You'll enjoy it. I'm
pretty sure I would. Side.I mean, like I said, you've
got a huge schedule already. You'reyou're doing recordings and videos and all that
kind of stuff and school. Butwhat do you like to do for yourself
to kind of just relax and havesome fun. Uh? Probably play my
(25:15):
play my guitar. I like playingbasketball. Um, I got a membership
for golf. I like the golflike a quick nine hole? Um what
else? That's that's kind of it? Like I like, yeah, just
simple okay, Yeah, so youdon't you don't you're not in front of
(25:37):
the Xbox or the PlayStation? Ohyeah, oh yeah, I forgot about
that one. Yeah I've PlayStation.Yeah all right, that's fair. So
were you playing like I mean, geez, I might be actually aging myself
at this point, but liked, were you playing like Guitar Hero or anything
like that when it was kind ofa thing. Uh nah, I was
(25:57):
more into like, uh oh whatgame is right? Into like Mario Kart
and stuff like that? Fair enough? Yeah yeah yeah, okay, Um,
just this is more of a personalcuriosity. How many interviews have you
been doing recently, like oo,like this past month? Sure? Uh,
(26:25):
not not a lot. I'm Iwould say this is my first one.
Oh really? Oh yeah, actuallyI actually surprised by that. I
thought you were booked right up.Surprise you're not. Let's just put it
that way. Um. And Iknow you said your your parents aren't really
on the musical side, but doesyour dad help it all with lyrics or
(26:47):
anything like that? Oh? Yeah, yeah, my dad's My dad's right
in there helping me out with likethe verses and stuff, and it's awesome.
Okay, yeah, very cool.Um, well, we are kind
of coming up under that thirty minutemarkets, which is surprisingly quick, to
be honest, that was quick.Um. So I'll just ask you a
(27:08):
couple more questions, just kind ofyou know, rounded off. But if
if you had the choice, oryou know, not the choice, but
if you had the opportunity to workwith any other musician, who would it
be? Probably right now Morgan Wallen. Oh okay, yeah, yeah,
(27:30):
he's so good all right? Haveyou? Um? Oh my goodness,
his name is escaping me now. He's actually another gentleman out of BC,
Wes Mac. I don't know ifyou've heard of him, but he's he's
also a country musician. What hisname's West Mac? Yeah, I don't
(27:52):
think I don't think I've heard ofhim. Okay, I don't think so.
He's similar to you. He's alittle bit older than you, of
course, but his career is likekind of taking off, both on the
country music side and the acting side. So I just wasn't sure if maybe
you got you'd heard of him andeven collaborated or nothing, but um,
because it's a fairly like do youfind the music scene in BC is fairly
(28:17):
large or is it fairly small especiallyin Okanagan? Rights? Probably in the
Okanagan, it's pretty big. Inin DC, yeah, I would say,
I would say it's pretty bag Okay, Yeah enough. I just yeah,
I don't spend enough time in BC. So and if you again,
(28:38):
if you were to perform anywhere,it's kind of similar to the other question.
Do you have a place country citythat you would really like to perform
in Nashville, like an arena orlike anything? Yeah? Yeah, anything
really probably Madison Square Garden not beunreal. Oh that'd be cool. Yeah,
yeah, yeah, that would beamazing. Actually, Okay, I
(29:03):
think you know what, I thinkwe can kind of wrap it there,
unless there's something else you kind ofwant to share, any any feature songs
that are you think might be releasedor something else. You want to share
as to people can kind of goand check you out, even if it's
your TikTok handle something like that.Just let people know, Hey, I'm
here, check me out. Ohnig right now? Sure? Yeah,
(29:26):
Hey, I'm Scottie Berg. Iam sixte year old musician. You can
find me on Instagram, Scottie Drewscore Berg and TikTok at Scottie underscore Berg
too. Perfect awesome man. Well, like I said in the beginning,
if you don't mind sticking around fora couple of minutes after I stop recording,
great, But for everybody else,I'd like to thank everybody for watching
(29:48):
the show and we'll definitely see assoon because we have a huge lineup of
people this season already. So thankyou and tune in and we'll see you
next time. Perfect, Thank you. Thanks,
