Speaker 1 (00:15):
Hour two of the Richmond Weavers Show, presented by Ingles
Markets is ready.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
To roll here as we will roll.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
On through until five pm and we'll hand things off
to mister John Ellis with Game On and can remember
this is now the new programming block here each weekday
from three to seven pm, four hours of local programming,
So make sure you stay tuned here to one o
four nine Fox Sports Upstate and then on Monday nights,
(00:45):
don't forget overtime with John Ellis. A full plethora. Let
me get the right word out there of football talk
with John Ellis.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
He's been doing a lot of homework.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
I saw him over there ready for not only his show,
Game On with John Ellis, but also overtime. So make
sure you stay tuned right here to one oh four
nine Fox Sports Upstate and again you can join the
conversation anytime you want to. Eight six four two four
zero five four eight zero. Again that numbers eight six
four two four zero five four eight zero.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
All right.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
So I saw some interesting news that caught my attention,
and I know we've talked about it previously, just at
least maybe through like the Daily Rundown, and that rich
Eisen was coming back to ESPN. He was bringing the
Rich Eisen Show back to ESPN. So with all of
(01:42):
that being said, in the efforts that's going into that
in terms of, you know, making sure that they're doing
the things to start promoting Rich Eisen that he's going
to be back on ESPN, they're actually having Rich Eisen
tonight the eleven pm Sports Center after the preseason game
that Rich Eisen.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Is going to be an anchor on Sports Center.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
So reliving back in the day when we would watch
Rich Eisen. It's been twenty years since Its Eisen has
been on Sports Center as an anchor, and so it
made me think how much Sports Center has been in
our lives, how much we have enjoyed Sports Center. And
this was going back to way back in the day.
(02:26):
And we know it started in nineteen seventy nine, but
I'm talking you know, there in the nineties, we didn't
have all of the content that we have right now.
So Sports Center was it. It was the defining show
that you watched in terms of getting all of your
sports content. And then we started seeing personalities for him
(02:50):
there as anchors with Sports Center, and no doubt, Rich
Eisen is definitely one of those personalities that I gravitated
towards quickly. I loved watching rich Eisen, and I know
there's a lot of other people that like Richison, but
it started making me think just over the years since
(03:11):
nineteen seventy nine, and it's harder now because there have
so many different rotating anchors that you might not recognize
as many. But again, back in the day, you knew
who the sports center anchors were and you knew when
their time slots were because it was almost appointment TV
watching at the time, so you could get your sports content.
(03:35):
You could catch up on all of the headlines, the
latest events, the replays, all of the commentary, all of that.
So it started making me think, who are the top
ten sports center anchors of all time? And maybe it's
more of my top ten cause there's something about that
(03:58):
beautiful thing that it's your opinion, your memories, all of that.
And that's why on Friday I did my top ten
NASCAR moments because it was embedded in my hard drive.
It was in my thought process as far as why
I remembered certain things about those NASCAR events and how
it can tank you back in time. So we're going
(04:19):
to take a look at my top ten SportsCenter anchors
of all time? All right, how about this number ten? Yes,
we'll go number ten right here. It's one of those
things though, because there's been so many, it's hard to
just look at a top ten.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
But I'm going to try to give it a try.
I gotta go with Mike Greenberg.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
I know Mike Greenberg has not been necessarily the guy
that has been a true sports center anchor. He made
more of his moving over to Mike and Mike Radio,
but remember he did get his true start there at
ESPN as a sports center anchor and coming from Chicago
(05:06):
where he covered the Chicago Bulls, so he had a
lot of insight in Chicago, so I enjoyed that. Obviously,
he made his name bigger Mike and Mike, and then
now we see him there with Get Up.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
But I'm going with Mike Greenberg there at number ten.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Nine, all right, how about this, I'll go with Linda Cohne.
And she has been a mainstay there with ESPN for
a long long time and almost a trendsetter in all reality,
just based on her breaking into being the anchor there
(05:45):
at SportsCenter. And this is a person that I've actually
been able to sit down and talk with a couple
of times at the National Sports Media Association conferences.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
And I didn't know this, but she played hockey.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
She was a goalie, so she has been somewhat so
to speak, in the trenches there playing sport that you
typically wouldn't see a female playing.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Now.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
I know, yes, we have female hockey, and we have
Olympic hockey for females and all of that, or women,
I should say, but I just always found that unique.
And I think Linda cohane she's still going strong right now,
so she's still is somebody that continues to.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Move up the ranks.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
And let's go too, number there we go, let me
get the button there. I don't have Trey Falco here today,
so it's hard for me to find some of these
buttons here. All right, So number eight, this is a
tough one for me, but I went with Chris Berman.
Now I know some people would say, oh Berman, I mean,
he's the mainstay of ESPN, you've got to have him
(06:52):
higher than eight. But remember Berman really made his stay
more on the NFL side, And you know it wasn't
he wasn't a consistent regular.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
Sports center anchor.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
He did a lot of the other things, a lot
of the other special events, those type of things. Now
you obviously know his calls and how he would come
up with names, nicknames. I mean, he was one of
the best, and I do believe it was just a
natural gift. I don't know how much at times you
could just be on the fly and have already written
down certain things. I think Chris Berman is just a
(07:30):
complete natural and again still going strong after all of
these years.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Started Originally, I mean he was.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
One of the OG's there nineteen seventy nine, so I'm
going Chris Berman right there at number eight, number seven.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
All right, this is another OG.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Now this guy wasn't flamboyant, just was steady Eddie. But
if you watch also the sports reporters, all of that.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Was Bob Lee.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Bob Lee just was the epitome of He would deliver
the news, but he could make you laughed a little bit.
But he was just that guy that it was almost
like a trusted figure that he wasn't going to lie
to you, and not that saying that these other anchors
would lie to you, but you just felt a different
(08:15):
aura around him.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
He was like a dad, like a grandfather. So to speak.
And so again just an og that's.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
Been around a long time and one is one of
the main stays of Sports Center and one of the
earliest memories of who I remember seeing on the Sports
Center anchor that was mister Bob Lee. Number six, all right,
I'm going with SVP Scott Van Pelt, and he might
(08:43):
actually be higher than this, to be honest with you,
if I look at it again and really break down
this list. He is one of my favorites. And you
talking about an authentic dude, this guy is the epitome
of that. And he just continues to bring different, different thoughts,
different narratives, different opportunities of pulling fans in, especially when
(09:07):
he's delivering the news, but now with his podcast and
obviously you know his Late show and the Bad Beats,
all of the things that he does with Stanford Steve
all of that. But go back and just watch some
of the early days with Scott Van Pelt as the
anchor of ESPN. He was very personable, could make you laugh,
(09:29):
and again didn't take himself too seriously. That was the
beautiful thing about Scott Van Pelt.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Number five.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
All right, Stuart, Scott, I mean, you gotta put Stuart
Scott up here, and but we know we lost him
several years ago.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
But I mean, my goodness, the.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
Epitome of making you laugh and coming up with all
types of sayings, different ways to deliver it. Boo yah
cool as the other side of the pillow. I mean,
he changed the game, and he was there for a
long time. I mean from nineteen ninety three to two
thousand and fifteen. I mean, he seemed to be the guy.
(10:11):
And when you combined him with Scott van Pelt. That's
what was also so special is that some of these
anchors they were even better based on who they were
partnered up with. And so that's why it's sometimes even
hard to be able to look at this list and
pull some of these people just on.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
The top ten when there's definitely many people that could be.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
But Stuart Scott is definitely one of those guys that
deserves to be there and including.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
In the top five.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
Number four.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
All right, I'm going with Kitty Main Now.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
I know Kitty Maine could be polarizing just because of
his dry sense of humor, and sometimes you didn't know
if he was being sarcastic or not. And my wife
is very sarcastic, so I have to be on I
toes at times and making sure that I'm understanding. Okay,
that was a sarcastic comment. But Kenny Mayne was definitely
(11:07):
that type of guy, and I actually liked that. I
mean again, he was very quirky, been there a long time,
and his home run call the main event just was
something that I could appreciate. So Kenny main there, even
though again he had some detractors just didn't like his delivery.
(11:29):
But I thought Kenny Mayne was one of the best
that we've seen at Sports Center.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
Number three.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
All right, I'm going to John Anderson.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
I mean again, this is a guy a little bit later,
but John Anderson is a guy who's very very funny. Now,
he did it a long time also, as he just
recently announced him retiring and well deserved. This guy has
done so much and he did it in a fun way. Again,
(12:01):
That's what I loved about it is that didn't take
himself too serious. And I think when you saw him
step out of that Sports Center anchor and then co
host wipeout, which was phenomenal in itself, big balls, all
of that, you definitely enjoyed. John Anderson and I definitely
(12:24):
enjoyed John Anderson seeing him there on Sports Center, and
obviously the opportunity of hearing him deliver.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
The sports Lumber two.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
All Right, I put rich Eisen up there. Yes, I
have to put him up there. I just talked about
him so much to start this segment. Then there's no
way I can't have rich Eison there in the top
five at number two. And again, this guy, once you
paired him with Dan Patrick, it was amazing just the
(12:56):
chemistry that those guys had.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
And I know you could look at Keith Oberman, who
is not on my top ten. Now.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
I did really enjoy Keith Oberman, don't get me wrong,
But it's hard when you have to put.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
This list together.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
And that's why I still would go right now with
John Anderson before Keith Oberman, and I would have rich
Eisen there at number two. And it's probably not too
hard to understand who I'm going to have next number one,
DP Dan Patrick, the one and only.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
I mean, this guy is the it andy of.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
When I think of Sports Center, that's who I think
of is Dan Patrick. And I know he hasn't been
on Sports Center in a long time. The Dan Patrick Show,
which you can listen to right here on one of
four nine five Sports Upstate each weekday starting at nine
a m.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
And the Dan Patrick Show. The Dan AT's all of that,
what he's been able to do, I mean, the.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Second chapter of his career is nominal in itself, let
alone all what he did with ESPN and Sports Center.
And again, when I think of Sports Center, I know
you can definitely think of Keith Oberman, no doubt, but
I think of Dan Patrick first and foremost, and that's
why he's my number one. Let me know your thoughts, though.
(14:20):
You can text your favorite Sports Center anchor eight six
four Triple seven ninety five ninety three. Again, that text
line is eight six four triple seven ninety five ninety three.
Or you can give us a call also eight six
four two four zero five four eight zero. Again, that
number is eight six four two four zero five four
(14:42):
eight zero. Because we want you to join this conversation
here on this Monday edition of the Richmond Weavers Show,
presented by Engles Markets, and we'll continue our two we'll
take this quick break, but much more right after this.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
I've been reading books of Bold, the Legends and the
Men's Achilles and his gold her Achilles and his gifts,
Spider Man's control, the Batman mos fist, and clearly I
don't see myself footpon that list. But she said, where
you want.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
To go, how much you want to ask?
Speaker 3 (15:32):
I'm not looking for somebody with some superhuman gifts, some
super hero, some fairy tale plans, just something I can
turn to, somebody I can guess. I want something aside.
There's always something just side.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Listen. Yes, eight six four two four zero five four
eight zero. That's the number too, the Ingles hotline eight
six four two four zero five four eight zero. You
can join the conversation here on the Richmond Weaver Show
(16:18):
presented by Ingles Markets. Yes, I know, might have missed
that caller right there. You can call back and join
the conversation. Mister Trey Falco not in studio with us today,
So yes, we are running solo right here. And yes,
sometimes yes we have some Grimlins that jump in or
maybe even I just.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Press the wrong button, so I do apologize but about that,
and also you can text in.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
Also you can join the conversation eight six four triple
seven ninety five ninety three. Again that numbers eight six
four triple seven, ninety five, ninety three, And we did
have Chad the Vending King texting in there and says,
what about Pete Yanner? And I know, yes, I was
talking about the ESPN Sports Center anchors.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
But Pete Yanity is the goat in this area.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
We do know that.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
And I have the privilege of working with Pete with
college basketball as the color analyst, as he's the play
by play and he is the best. Enjoy all the
times I get to work with Pete Yanity and has
been a mainstay here in the Upstate for a long
time on WSPA. So yeah, it's hard to argue that
(17:32):
Pete Yanity is by far one of the best. All right,
let's take a look at some of the latest headlines.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
It's only one game player, and that's to take care
of Benn hitting the latest headlines. It's the daily rundown,
all right?
Speaker 1 (17:52):
In college football? How about this for the South Carolina
game Cocks. Yes, they have a now that season. Tickets
are sold out this year, So congratulations South Carolina Gamecox,
the athletic department and everybody involved. Yeah, people are excited
(18:13):
about this season. Yeah, there is no question from that standpoint.
Are you ready are you ready South Carolina less than
two weeks you're going to be kicking off in Atlanta
against Virginia Tech. A lot of excitement going on right
now and home opener September sixth, so get ready for that.
(18:35):
And also, how about this today at five pm, streaming
exclusively on Disney Plus, you do get to see Shane Biemer,
head coach of the South Carolina Game Cox as he
will be joining Vibecheck to talk about the twenty twenty
five college football season. Again, that's streaming exclusively on Disney Plus.
(18:58):
That is today at five pm, so make sure you
check that out again. A lot of excitement going on
right now with South Carolina game Cocks and where that
might go this season.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
All right in college football.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Also, Cam Newton is getting his jersey retired by Auburn.
The number two will be retired later this year. He
was a national champion, Heisman winner, Consensus All American First Team,
All SEC SEC Offensive Player of the Year, and the
Walter Camp Award winner that year there at Auburn and
(19:35):
again yes, leading them to a national championship. And rumor,
if you're a Clemson fan, Clemson almost beat Auburn that
year had them, they had the opportunity, missed a field
goal that would have tied. Oh yeah, there's that when
you think about the what ifs, how seasons can change
so quickly just based on one little thing that happens.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
And we do know in off the.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Top six is locked in for the Ryder Cup. Now
that after the BMW Championship. So you've got Scotti Scheffler
at number one, JJ spawn, Xander Schoffley, Russell Henley, Harris
English and Bryson D. Shamba will be your top six
automatic qualifiers there. And now Keegan Bradley the coach or
(20:22):
should say the captain there of the US team for
the Ryder Cup.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Now he gets to choose from the other six.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
You've got Justin Thomas, Colin, Morrikawa, Ben Griffin, Maverick McNeely,
Keegan Bradley himself will he be captain and player? And
you also have Brian Harmon sitting there as the other
top six there are the top twelve I should say
they're in the Ryder Cup point so how will that
(20:50):
play out?
Speaker 2 (20:51):
That is going to be interesting.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
And we also heard the news that mister Joe Flacco
is named the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns forty
year old Joe Flacco, and I contend at some point,
I do think Dylan Gabriel or Shader Sanders is going
to start for the Cleveland Browns, because again, what do
you have to lose? You invested in these guys, And
(21:16):
do you really think, at least long term, that Joe
Flacco is going to be your guy? Probably not, so
at some point I could see them making a move.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
All right.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
That's some of the latest headlines there, and again you
can join the conversation eight six' four two four zero
five four eight zero and let's head out to The
ingles hotline right, now The Richmond weavers.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
Show who's this Rich?
Speaker 4 (21:39):
Man what's going? On big Boy?
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Neil how are you my?
Speaker 4 (21:42):
Friend, uh you're gonna have to overlook. ME i might
be a little bit on the intoxication list right. Now all,
right but it is not, alcohol, sir BECAUSE i do not. Drink,
Okay i'll leave it this. Out but, anyways let's get
let's have some fun, now Rich you tell, me, sir
how do we know it's football season without us talking about?
(22:04):
It can? He? Can you? Guess i'm gonna give you
two Reasons number, One, Actually i'm gonna let you.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Guess go, ahead, no, y, yeah you go, ahead and
you lay it out for.
Speaker 4 (22:11):
Me. Okay number one is because the banter has begun
between all of us young, bucks, yes Be, Rich, Billy, Chad,
sean the Other, sean you, know maybe even your boy
that comes on after. You he likes to talk junk
just as much AS i. Do that's one of the
THINGS i like about. Him but, anyways the banter has.
Begun now here's number two reasons because we have to Let.
(22:35):
Rich we have to Hear rich throw a Little clinton
love in. There first time in preseason three guys from
the same team got a little pick. Six, OKAY i like,
IT i. DO i like. It that was. Nice, NOW
i can't throw Any gator love out there because The
gators have been terrible for about fifteen, years SO i
(22:56):
can't say. NOTHING i can't even back that.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
Up.
Speaker 4 (22:58):
Anyways, Okay, NOW i heard you And billy talking about
AND i also heard you say something about forty nine
Or neil when you're talking about genty running all over.
THEM i wasn't very happy with. That but at the
end of the, day this game these what happens in.
PRESEASON i will never take any kind of, like oh,
gosh he looked good or he looked. BAD i don't.
CARE i don't think it, matters to be honest with,
(23:18):
You it's just like playing like a video. Game you're
playing it for money or you're playing it just for.
Fun you're going to play. Differently so you, know that's
just my take on. That we'll see what happens when
the regular season. STARTS i do like genty by the
WAY i always did when he was coming out last.
Year now getting to your top, ten rich this is
the biggest reason WHY i call because you AND i
(23:40):
over the last couple of, years Since billy got me
to start calling, you we have agreed on a. Lot
we have disagreed on some. Stuff we have been, argumentative
we have had some banner between. Us we have had
our funds AND i usually come to your side or
we kind of see eye to, eye or we will
agree to. Disagree and that's what makes sports, Funds that's
what makes being friends. Fun i'm going to be honest with.
(24:00):
You your top Ten Sports center anchors is the first
Time i've ever, said, okay if you take out about
three of those, guys me And rich and gotten nothing in, common,
Sir AND i mean WHEN i say, nothing let me
just tell you this all. Right first of, All Scott Van,
PELT i agree with you one hundred. Percent he's in
my top three all. TIME i, mean when you're talking about,
(24:21):
Sport i'm gonna Throw i'm going To i'm gonna cheat
a little bit and not just Do Sports center, anchors
But i'm also going to just be people On Sports
center because they've got a couple of them THAT i
know you didn't get to because they're Not Sports center.
Anchors But i'm just gonna throw some them love at.
Them But Scott vampel is one of those. GUYS i,
mean first of, all dude loves to talk about. Gambling
he started it before gambling even became legal in most
of these. States SO i appreciated. That the only one
(24:44):
negative To Scott Van pelt rich the only one negative
that has nothing to do with him. Personally it seemed
like Every, Monday neil The greek is on bad beat with.
Something it is Every Monday Scott Van pelt, Says, okay
we're going to bring up our top two, now And i'm,
like Oh, god oh, no HERE i GO i have
(25:06):
to relive it Again saturday. Night let's go out To boise,
like Oh, god AND i have to slip the channel
BECAUSE i don't want to see it. Again that's the
only thing About scott Van. Pelt, YEAH i get. It
you love that show, THOUGH i mean just a bad
beat second of that.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
Awesome it is absolutely, Fantastic And i'm not a, gambler
BUT i enjoy the show just BECAUSE i do think
there's such craziness when you're looking at how close these
scenarios play out in terms of point spreads and How
vegas is right there so many, times and you know
(25:42):
the heartbreak and the euphoria that happens for fifty percent
of the people that are in that. Situation so it's
hard not to.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
Enjoy, yes, absolutely and whether you lost on it or
one on. It so a couple other. Guys who's the
guy the guy that passed away with, Cancer, Bouyau what
was his? Name Scott Stuart. Scott he's one of my
all time. Favorites him And Rich EISEN i think made
the best tag team On Sports center. Ever WHEN i say,
EVER i mean. Ever but now let's go back to
(26:12):
a couple of people on your. List let's start With Mike,
greenberg who would make me want to hear somebody scratch on? Chalk,
okay first of, all WHAT i can't stand About Mike
greenberg's number? One how he Did Mike. Golick, okay BECAUSE
i loved My. GOLIIC i loved hearing. Him he was
just the average. Guy he seemed to get. It he
seemed to be your next door neighbor talking about a.
Game Mike greenberg getn't doing quite. Right so that's the first.
(26:35):
Thing second, thing he goes out of his way rich
to make you believe that he loves certain. Teams oh
he's talking about, This he's talking about. That it makes
me believe that he doesn't really actually even watch, sports
to be honest with, you that On saturday And sunday
he's out at the having a. PICNIC i, mean he
just goes overboard with trying to make you believe how
(26:55):
much he loves a certain, team like The. JETS i
don't know what it. Is he just rubs me the wrong.
Way can't Do Greenberg berman another? One oh my, god
you Mentioned berman back back, back, back back back. Back
IF i hear, that, MAN i have to, say, back,
back back one more. Time i'm seriously gonna jump off
my second floor, here. SERIOUSLY i, MEAN i Like berman
back in the day. Too i'm going to give a
little love to here. Too this was Not Sports center,
(27:17):
anchor but this was one of the guys THAT i
loved ON. Espn Tom. Jackson remember when him And burman
used to do THE Nfl Sunday that was.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Awesome Tom jackson was just.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
Incredible, yes, yes big. Time LIKE i, Said scott, VANPELD
i agree with. You. Now the last one BEFORE i
get into my. Favorite got two guys on on ON,
Espn Not Sports, center BUT. Espn the one guy that
you mentioned that just literally makes my skin, crawl and
he still does to this day because now he loves
(27:46):
to talk politics. Online Keith. Oberman, literally IF i know
you said he would he was in your mininal mention or,
Something i'd be honest with. You IF i never saw
him on any sports show at, All i'd be better
for it just makes me. Cringe he thinks he's intelligently.
Smart my, wife one of the things that she loves
about me is how WITTY i. AM i am so
(28:08):
quick with. Comebacks he thinks he's that, guy AND i
know he's, smart but he's not that. Guy he doesn't
have that, style and he drives me crazy when he
tries to be, funny which brings me to one of
the guys who was my all time favorite ON, espn
by the, way WHO i think is. Funny he is
just so freaking smart that most people don't get his
(28:29):
sense of. Humor and That's Max. Kellerman he to me
JUST i, MEAN i could hear him a whole day
because number, one he knew what he was talking. About Number,
two anytime he walked in a, room anytime he including
that Guy Jay billis they went to. Do Anytime Max
kellerman walked in the, room he was the smartest guy
in the, room. Okay and he is so clever with his.
(28:51):
WIT i loved. It he would say stuff To STEPHEN A,
smith And STEPHEN A smith wasn't smart enough to get,
it but he did, it AND i would sit back and,
laugh and a lot of people, comment and then then
we'd all laugh. LATER i LOVE Nx, KELLERMAN i, SAID
i Love Tom. Jackson there was one more THAN i. Went,
oh if you said Rich Eiman, richien so that would
be my. Guy, OH i know who it, Was, okay another,
(29:11):
guy probably my sacred, favorite Gall On, Espens Tony. KORNHEISER
i like both of those guys that do part in
the interruption Both Michael.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
Wilbon, yeah that that's a. Mainstay and, again my list
was more just the. Anchors so when you start diving into.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
A little, bit, yes, hey And i'm, OKAY i did
a little.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
Bit Mike wilbon are. Great they're.
Speaker 4 (29:36):
Awesome one of my favorite shows of all. Time i'll
leave you with, This rich speaking of, Cheating, okay you
know we had that little feud On friday with my
old nephew Halt. In. Yeah, now he did beat me
four out of. SIX i ain't gonna sit here and
Lie gator And hill doesn't. Lie, HOWEVER i want to
just say two things real. Quick number, one how did
he beat me out of two of those? Games we went?
(29:56):
Overtime on? ONE i stopped him in, Overtime, rich my
Very i'm just trying to get in a field. Goal
first run up the, middle, fumble he gets the ball,
back ends up winning the very next. Game very next,
game he's beating me twenty three to. Nothing but here
comes near The GREEK i started off. SMARTENING i got
it down to twenty nine to twenty. EIGHT i got
(30:17):
the ball and what. HAPPENS i hit a guy right
in the hands for a touch and he was gonna
walk In wilson for The, gators and dude drops. It next,
play he makes me. Fumble he ends up winning the
games that one, too so he ends up beating me
four to. TWO i give him, credit which brings me
to my last. POINT i said a minute, AGO i
was cheating on the game with you as far as
the sports center. Acres, Well i'm gonna be cheating next
(30:38):
TIME i play my nephew, too Because i'm gonna do
ANYTHING i had to do to win. Rich there you, Go,
hey preciate it it?
Speaker 1 (30:44):
Wrong every good day was, yes thank, You. Neil nothing
wrong with trying to make sure you come out on.
Top and there's the rumors That i'm actually reading A
Michael jordan book right now and talking About Buzz peterson
who played At North carolina and was a teammate With Michael,
jordan and they his roommate with him and actually went
(31:06):
To buzz's house during a period of time where you,
know they had some time off and we're playing cards
With buzz's, mom and the story goes is That Michael,
jordan they were Playing crazy eights And Michael jordan hit
an eight card under his leg so he could have
that as an, option and he got. Caught and the
(31:28):
point was is, that hey, Man i'm not going to
get beat even by your. Mom SO i do understand
That neil The greek right, there he does not want
to get beat by his Nephew. Sean but we did
talk about it AND i felt very confident That sean
was going to do.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
IT i think we spoke it into.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
Existence so Congratulations Sean wayed do the yeoman's job of
taking Down neil The greek in that video. Game you
can join the conversation though eight six' four two four
zero five four. Eight zero we're going to hit this
break and we'll come back as we'll continue our Two
Of The Richmond weaver show Presented By.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
Ingles markets right, after this she, TOLD me i mean
(32:41):
jis thank you.
Speaker 3 (32:44):
To never know. Want You.
Speaker 1 (32:50):
The Richmond weavers show Presented By ingles markets continues right
here ON one o Four Nine Fox.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
Sports Upstate the.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
Monday edition as we we are heading into college football
weekend and we're boycotting. Week zero we're not saying, week
zero EVEN though i just. Said it why can't it
just be? Week one but we do have college football
as we get Ready For iowa State And kansas state
(33:19):
kicking off at Noon on saturday There. In ireland it
is a top twenty, five matchup and then there will
be more college football as, we know the rest of,
the day but also even more importantly the. Next weekend
and you don't even have to wait until the weekend
because we've Got Games. Thursday friday and how About The
(33:41):
Georgia tech colorado Game. ON friday i think that's going
to be a very very, interesting Game and i've talked
about it several TIMES that I Think georgia tech has
an opportunity to be a really.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
Good.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
TEAM now i know they're getting a lot of attention,
right now so you do have to take that, in
consideration and sometimes does that mean too? Much ATTENTION but
i Do Think georgia tech And What brent key has
been able to do There At. Georgia TECH and i
do produce the Podcast For kelly Gramlik and, eric McLane
(34:18):
The gram Lick And, MacLane podcast and they break DOWN
All acc action and we're getting ready to START the
acc WEEKLY with mac starting next week as we'll start
PREVIEWING the acc and previewing several teams IN, the Acc Including.
Clemson tigers but They Had brent key on their podcast
(34:39):
and you should go listen. To it, And Again, BRENT
key i think is a different type, of guy but
a different type of guy in a good Way For.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
GEORGIA tech, i.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
Mean he seems to be bringing, the bravado the it
factor and wanting to win in. The TRENCHES and i
think that's the biggest part that when you Look At
georgia tech and, knowing, THAT yes, i know You've Got
haines king quarterback there and a lot of people are
talking about him and everything that you know he can
(35:11):
bring to, the table and especially what we saw last
year just the toughness all.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Of THAT but i think there's More To georgia tech
Than Just.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Haines KING and i think the Game there, september thirteenth
As The clemson tigers heading Down to atlanta there in,
THE flats i think that could be a, very interesting
could be a tricky type of game For The. Clemson
tigers but we are getting oh so close to college,
Football Again iowa State And kansas state at Noon.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
On saturday then You've Got idaho STATE.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
At unlv then You've Got fresno State at Kansas on
fox at six. Thirty pm and then you Also Have
sam Houston At western KENTUCKY On Cbs, sports network And
then Stanford at hawaii ON. On cbs so you HAVE an.
Acc school. REMEMBER that I know, I'm laughing stanford IN.
(36:08):
The acc just think. ABOUT that i know that's actually
a little crazy when you think about how conferences, have
realigned have continued to, move chairs all of those scenarios
that are, Playing OUT and i do think there's something
to be, Said, that hey let's, look at, you know
(36:29):
creating this college football league whatever you want to. CALL
it i don't know exactly the, right title the, right
terminology the, right moniker whatever you want. To DESCRIBE but
i do think we're getting close to that point where
it would just make. More SENSE and i know we've talked,
about it but you can let us know, your thoughts
you can join. The conversation the text line is always
(36:51):
open eight six four triple seven ninety five. Ninety three
again that text line eight six four, triple seven, ninety five,
ninety three and we Do Have hunter bruce actually texting
in and said honorable mention as we were TALKING about
espn and personalities and more Of The sports, center anchors
but Also As neila greek called in with a little
(37:14):
bit MORE of, espn Personalities and, Hunter Says, chris connolly
he's synonymous With ESPN's my, wish series and No Doubt
chris connolly has been a mainstay with that event and
that foundation for a. Long Time And chris connelly goes
all the way back to his DAYS at mtv and
(37:34):
how he's transitioned and been able to somewhat evolve as
well to great. Author everything, SO yes i do agree
with that honorable mention.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
Right there, all right.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
How about, THIS though i did want to Mention Some
south Carolina game cocks And Some clemson tigers getting some
recognition AS the ap has released their Pre Season All
american firs and. Second teams so first Team Quarterback kate
clubnick For The, clemson tigers and then you also have
(38:09):
there For The clemson tigers on the, Defensive Side peter
woods there, at tackle but you also have on the
Edge Mister dylan stewart First Team Preseason all AMERICAN and i, think,
RIGHTFULLY so i know you can talk about the losses
There That south, carolina had especially on that, defensive LINE
(38:31):
and i, Get It, kyle knard and then even in
the secondary you had the leaders Em, and morey you
know all. Of That dylan stewart watch out and the
reports are.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
This dude is his motor is even moving faster.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
This season that he, Is developing, so yeah get ready.
For that and then also, second team how about This
Quarterback garrett NUSSMYER At lsu and We Know Kate clubnick
andusmeyer are going to be matched up against each other
there in that. First game and you Also Saw blake
miller second team as an offensive tackle there For The,
(39:07):
clemson tigers And Then antonio williams there second team there
For The clemson tigers at. Wide receiver and then on the, DEFENSIVE.
Side tj parker at edge there For The, clemson tigers
and Then Also, jalen kilgore they're a defensive Back For.
South carolina Second Team Preseason all american was, Just announced
(39:30):
so a lot of hype going into this season for,
both SCHOOLS and i think it's absolutely fantastic that we
are in this position that we have that opportunity to
talk about both schools in this type. Of narrative and
The narrative i'm talking about is contenders for a, national
(39:51):
championship because there's. No QUESTION and I Know south carolina
some of you fans might not want to really believe
a hunt undred percent because of the potential. Letdown FACTOR
and i do understand that As a, clemson grad As a,
CLEMSON fan i lived some of That Until dabos sweeney
(40:12):
And The clemson tigers were able to get over, that
hump so.
Speaker 2 (40:14):
To SPEAK and I Think south carolina can do the.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
Same THING and i think this is a positive thing
that you're getting some of, this attention some of, This
recognition so. Embrace it and as Head Coach shane biemer,
talks about pressure is.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
A Privilege, All.
Speaker 1 (40:30):
Right we're going to wrap Up this monday edition Of
The Richmond weavers show Presented By.
Speaker 2 (40:35):

What happened on.
Speaker 3 (42:08):
This day let's go back in history to the moments
you might have forgotten and the ones you'll.
Speaker 2 (42:13):
Never FORGET it's otd on, this day.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
All right we're going back to nineteen Eighty Two Major
league Baseball As pete rose would set the record with his,
thirteenth thousand nine hundred and forty first.
Speaker 2 (42:33):
Plate appearance that's.
Speaker 1 (42:35):
Absolutely insane and again Looking At pete rose and everything
that he did for baseball as, a player not as.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
A manager when he was betting. On Baseball but i'm
just talking about as.
Speaker 1 (42:49):
A player, IT'S hard, i mean just extremely hard to
Argue That pete rose should not be In The Major
League baseball Hall. Of FAME and i think it's a
travesty that they waited until his death that then he
could be eligible to be voted Into the Hall. Of
fame now we'll see what happens at, that point, BUT
(43:12):
again i Think What pete rose was able to do,
in baseball he definitely Needs the he should have been
In the Hall of.
Speaker 2 (43:20):
Fame before that Is what i'm trying. To Say, all
right how?
Speaker 1 (43:23):
About this in nineteen, ninety two speaking of another legend
In a Hall, Of Famer larry bird would announce his
retirement after thirteen seasons With The. Boston celtics and listen
to some of These For, larry bird Nineteen eighty rookie Of,
the year Twelve Time, All Star All STAR, game mvp
(43:47):
wants a Ten TIME, all nba THREE time mvp OF,
the nba THREE Time, nba champion.
Speaker 2 (43:56):
Two TIME, finals mvp AND.
Speaker 1 (44:00):
The nba Seventy fifth, anniversary team, and yes part Of
The Nay Smith basketball Hall. Of fame that's one hell
of a Career For larry bird and just think. Thirteen
seasons he probably would have continued if he didn't have the.
Back INJURIES when i say probably would, Have continued i'm
talking about being one of the best players that we've,
(44:22):
ever seen because even with a, back injury he was
better than most of the players there IN. The nba
so what a hell of a Career That larry. Bird
had and we know it was Him and magic that
really got things going WITH. The nba and now look
WHERE the nba has. Grown amazing so thirty three years, ago,
(44:43):
today yeah thirty three and that was.
Speaker 2 (44:45):
His number, that's right.
Speaker 1 (44:47):
All right that Is this monday Edition Of The Richmond,
weaver show Presented By. Ingles markets have a great rest
of the evening and we will talk to you tomorrow
