Speaker 1 (00:01):
Exploring the latest headlines and in depth conversations. It's the
Richmond Weavers Show on one oh four nine Fox Sports
up State presented by Ingles Low Prices, Love the Savings,
Now for riches, take on sports. Here's Richmond Weaver ready to.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Roll our two right here on The Richmond Weaver Show
presented by Ingles Markets. As you're listening to the Thursday
edition of The Richmond Weaver Show presented by Ingles Markets. Yes, okay,
let's say that twice because we're or two. We're gonna
say it like as many times as we want to.
Mister Trey Falco behind the board and behind the mic
as usual, and looking out the studio here, mister Falco,
(00:43):
Uh yeah, I see your face right there, and nobody
else on radio saw that. Yeah, but that's a little
bit of a concerned look nowhere. We are looking out
the window and we see some very dark skies moving
this way towards the Upstate. And one of the advantages
of being on the eleventh floor of the Canal Insurance
Building down here in downtown Greenville is that we have
(01:06):
a fantastic view. But man, I'm telling you, we see
some of these storms rolling in because sometime is the watchtower,
little Jimmy Hendrix all along the watchtower as we see
some crazy weather coming in at times, and right now
I see it, Yes, dark, it is very dark. So
(01:26):
everybody be ready. I think we're going to have some
inclement weather coming through. But you can join the conversation
eight six four two four zero five four eight zero.
Again that number to the Ingles hotline eight six four
two four zero five four eight zero. As we are
getting closer and closer to the weekend already, and then
yes Monday, we have SEC football Media Days that we'll
(01:50):
be kicking off down in Atlanta. We will be there
Shane Beemer taking the podium at eleven forty five that morning,
and before that, Brian Kelly with LSU is going to
be there. So yes, there's going to be some pageantry
going on. There's going to be excitement, and there's going
to be some chaos. There's going to be some propaganda.
That's just the way it is that these football media days. Now,
(02:11):
I haven't heard anything from the SEC that they're not
going to do a media preseason poll, but the Big
Twelve remember this past week they said no, no, we're
not going to do it, and Brett Or Mark, the
commissioner for the Big Twelve, he openly said, yeah, the
reason we didn't do it is because we felt that
(02:34):
based on media's perception of our conference, it impacted the
national perspective of our conference. And so therefore, when you
have like an Arizona State that comes into the Big
Twelve and has picked last and then makes it to
the College Football Playoff, is there something to be said
(02:56):
about how human beings, how we could be biased at
times seeing some of these rankings since oh, well, gosh,
if they were picked last at the beginning of the season,
they can't be that good, right, right, Well, I mean
at the end of the day, the assumption is and
to a degree they are, Well, these are experts.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
They can't get it wrong. That's wrong.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
That's literally what you see the numbers and you go, oh,
those guys. Somebody picked it. They had to have a criteria,
there had to be something to it. So, yeah, they
picked them last for a reason. They doesn't matter if
it was.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
Right or not.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
It doesn't matter, no, because perception sometimes can be reality.
Oh yeah, and that's the challenge, and that's why we
see a lot of these times that people get frustrated
with these selection committees. Yes, and we also because we see,
you know, the each conference wanting to push their narratives, Yep,
(03:47):
how great they are, how good they are, how deep
they are as a conference, how hard it is to
win games in their conference, because it is all a
race for that national perception that you're really good. Yeah,
because you want as many opportunities to get as many
teams in the college football Playoff as you can, especially
(04:08):
now that it's expanded, because remember even when it was
just four, right, there was only so much propaganda and
push that you could make because at the end of
the day, you had to have teams that would just
go out there and win, right. And now it's a
little bit more subjective because you don't have to go
undefeated anymore, or only that was one game. So it
(04:29):
does make it a little bit harder for the selection committee.
So there's more onus on them to try to get
this right. And that's where us fans we can get
frustrated that Hey, especially like Clemson fans in the ACC
thinking that, oh, the narrative is all about that Clemson
is a good team, but if.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
They were in the SEC, they wouldn't even.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Been playing for a college national championship, although they would
just go out and beat Alabama in two of the
national championships to win, and lose to Alabama in the
third one and then lose to LSU in the fourth
one that they've played.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
In, Right, And to your point, how obviously dovetailing a
little bit over into basketball. How often do we hear
that last year about Clemson and basketball? But then you
had the same exact narrative coming out of their mouth.
But Duke man, Duke is so good. It's like, oh,
Duke is so good. They're great, and then you go,
but at the same time, Clemson, Bob, but they're playing
in the.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
AC exactly what. You can't have it both ways. You
can't have it both ways. And that's what we get
frustrated as fans when there's different narratives, yes, just based
on one team versus another team, or one conference versus
another conference, and that can be frustrating. And then when
you start having even some of the other media members
(05:47):
putting out lists about rivalries. Yes, and I know you
and John talked about it on Game On and you
can listen to Game on each weekday from four to
six pm right here on one O four nine Fox
Sports Upstate, and we're going to dive into a little
bit of that as well, because I've got some thoughts
on that, and we talked about it in the podcast hour,
which you can go listen to yes via the iHeartRadio app,
(06:09):
and we talked about more of the specific expectations with
South Carolina and trying to change that mindset of getting
over the hump and not being so consumed that this
is South Carolina of old that you're worrying about a
devastating injury, You're worrying about particular calls that are made
(06:29):
against you that might impact the game, et cetera. You know,
losing some of these games that you're supposed to win,
or not coming through in a big time matchup, whatever
it might be. Because I do believe that Shane Biemer
has South Carolina on a different trajectory than we've seen
in the past in terms of really trying to get
(06:49):
that opportunity of playing for a national championship. And at
the end of the day, it's all about getting to
the College Football Playoff and obviously everything that Steve Spurrier
did for South Carolina, but he was.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
It's limited bit.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Based on the system because he didn't have the opportunity
of getting a team into the College Football Playoff because
it was so relegated to just two teams that could
play for a national championship back then. So this is
a much different scenario for Shane Deemer and South Carolina
fans to be excited about that. You do have the opportunity,
but for the athletic to put their list of rivalries
(07:25):
out and the way they have listed Clemson in South
Carolina is almost a travesty. And yes, I'm saying it
from orange colored lenses as a Clemson grad. And we're
also this station is a Gangcock affiliate, to hear, the
only one in the upstate. So yes, I might be
a little biased, but I think we've got some good
(07:47):
talking points to truly understand that this rivalry doesn't get.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
The attention that it does deserve.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
And I'll talk a little bit more about that, but
as we've mentioned, you can join the conversation eight six'
four two four zero five four to eight zero and
let's head out to The engles hot line right, now
The Richmond weavers.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Show who's?
Speaker 5 (08:04):
This, hey Rich? Trey how are you guys doing this?
Afternoon doing?
Speaker 3 (08:09):
Fantastic? Billy how about? You?
Speaker 5 (08:10):
Sir got some fat rain dry falling on me right,
now so you're all, Right this looks like it's going
to be stormy at least for a little. While we'll, see. Yes,
ANYWAY i just wanted to, well first of, All i've
seen that list AND i can. BELIEVE i, mean if
they did made the top twenty, five, PERSONALLY i feel
like that rivalry should have made the top, ten you,
know And i'm sure you feel the same. Way AND
(08:32):
i would imagine if there's No clemson Or carolina fans
listening that don't feel that. Way so we're on the
same page. There BUT i want to go back and
address something that you, Know mark had called in AFTER
i called In monday and talk, about you, know something
that he. SAID i do, believe, LISTEN i do believe
that the Blue bloods are always going to be the
(08:54):
bull of blue. Blood we all know. THAT i think,
you you, know made that point over and over on
this show since you've been on this station and when
you've been on, Others i've heard you say, that so
THAT i agree. With BUT i do think times are
changing AND i think that we're going to see the
probably a much more level playing field than we ever seen.
Before and the other thing, is you, know there's not
(09:16):
when you start looking at four teams in the playoff
is a completely different animal as opposed to. Twelve AND
i use THE nfl to make my point on this
because there it's not like there's only been one or
two wildcard teams that won The Super. Bowl there's more
than a handful that's won The Super. Bowl and if
you go back and look at just the way that
(09:36):
the old four team playoff was prior to the expansion
of last, Year Ohio state would not even have made
that playoff because of their by virtue of their losing
The michigan game the way that they, did so that
was a surprise. TEAM i think we are going to
see more and more surprise. Teams and that's not to
say it's going to Be South. Carolina it may or
(09:57):
it may not, be BUT i don't think we're going
to see these same three to five teams winning the
national championship every. Year that's just my personal.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Team, YEAH i would agree with, you and there is
still going to be those blue bloods that do make
it we know, that but this is going to be
a scenario where it's going to be harder for them
to actually win the national. Championship it might not necessarily
be harder for them to get into the, playoff but
to win, it because now it's not just about winning
(10:25):
one game or two games to win a national. Championship
it's you're going to have to win multiple games in the.
Playoffs AND i do believe we're going to get to sixteen.
Teams and at that, point when you have sixteen teams
that are in the, playoffs.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
Hey as you, Know, BILLY i, mean statistics changed.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Significantly and that's why you can, see like in THE,
nfl The New York giants go from the Wild card
all the way To Super bowl not once but twice
and beating the Almighty New England, patriots and they haven't
sniffed the Super bowl since. THEN i get, that but
just think about the opportunities that these teams have. Now
and that's Why i'm excited about, it and that's WHY
(11:03):
i Think South carolina fans should feel really good that
as much as Blue bloods will still be part of,
it now is your opportunity Of South carolina to get
into the mix because of the.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
Expansion, YEAH i JUST i don't want to. Reiterate, LISTEN
i REALIZED i know What mark was. Saying even though
they wouldn't have made the fourteen playoffs because of their
their loss To, michigan they still are a blue. BLOOD
i get, That AND i THINK i think going, IN
i know THAT i Had Ohio state And Notre dame
playing each. OTHER i think you Had Ohio state playing someone, else, yeah,
(11:38):
winning If i'm not, Mistaken.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
YEAH i actually Had oregon advancing.
Speaker 5 (11:43):
There, Okay, okay WELL i was. WRONG i Had Ohio,
state and you KNOW i Had Notre dame Beating Ohio.
State clearly wrong about. That but still my point being was, That,
okay they are blue. Blood Notre dame technically is a blue,
blood but there was some franchises or SOME i guess
programs technical leet that made that national or that playoff
that would have never had the chance and they won
(12:04):
a game or. Two Penn state is not really considered
a blue, blow AND i know they're, not you, know
on the bottom end of the, spectrum but, there you,
know they've won one national championship as far AS i,
know and they made a deep. RUN i think we're
going to see more of. That and because it's only
one sample, SIZE i think it's easy to, Say, okay
well it ended up still being In ohio. STATE i just,
(12:25):
think give it ten years and see how it looks.
Speaker 6 (12:27):
Like.
Speaker 5 (12:27):
THEN i think it's going to look completely.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Different, YEAH i agree with, You, billy that we're going
to see a little bit of a, shift BECAUSE i
also think in ten years it's going to look completely different,
anyway because we're going to have just one unified conference
and it's just going to be a select group of.
Teams and now it might get to a point where you're,
having you, know just the opportunity of forty teams or.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
Whatever but we see it in THE.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
NFL i don't think fans are too disgruntled other than,
yes you have those villains because they keep getting to
the Super, bowl like The Kansas City. Chiefs but we
still are so entertained by it THAT i don't think
it's going to. MATTER i think at the end of the,
day we just want to see teams that are getting
to the playoffs based on their merits rather than just
(13:15):
willing nilly some selection. Committee AND i know the selection
committee does a yeoman's job with everything that they've got going.
On but that's not just their full time. Job and
that's WHERE i do have some issues with. It that's another.
Conversation but at the end of the, DAY i, mean
just get to the, Playoffs, billy that's all you want
your team to have.
Speaker 5 (13:35):
Access to correct and then you know THE nfl, EXAMPLE
i get, it they are trending towards AN nfl. Bodel
the problem with that is you're going to have the same,
coaches these, quarterbacks these players are going to be different
every three to five. Years so you know it's not
going to be like The Brady belichick run and now
The reed and The homes. Run that's not going to
(13:57):
happen because by virtual graduation and you know you've got
to move. On so and then the other part of
this is that you know the nil on the. Portal,
listen these, kids these. ROSTERS i believe in my heart and.
SOUL i think you can see this. Too everyone should
be able to see. This we're not going to go
back to the eighties or before Where.
Speaker 7 (14:15):
Alabama clemson or who you named the.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
School that was a blue blood at that. Time it's
had one hundred and twenty people on their. Roster that
would probably better than you, know somebody at the, fringe
top twenty five on their third. String because of, that
we're not going to see that, Now SO i do
believe that's just going to BE i think there's going
to be, variety but that's just my personal. Opinion, anyway
everyone stays safe out. There i'll talk to you.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
Later some think, That thank, You, Billy we appreciate.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
It, yes you stay safe out there as, well because
we do see some of that rain coming in. NOW
i would have to say Though billy's, comment AND i
just want to make sure THAT i get this Out Penn.
State i'm, Sorry. Billy they're blue. Blood they. Are they've
got two national championships and they have almost a thousand
(15:00):
victories in college. Football, yeah They're they're one of the
most winningness programs in college football. History now again over
the past twenty, years. TOTALLY i get.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
It they've been down and.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
Out James franklin has them coming, back, obviously and they
made the run this past college football postseason and being
able to you, know get to the final four there
and losing To Notre dame in the. Semifinals As Notre
dame would go on to lose To Ohio state in
The National. Championship As billy was talking, about but, Yeah Penn,
state they're blue blood and that's okay that we're starting
(15:40):
to see some of these programs come back because it's
good for college. Football but there's also the other side
of it, too is that how many times we talk
about this, tray two things can be true at the same,
time and that's it's good to have blue bloods in,
there but it's also it's good to have some young
bucks come, in oh absolutely into some new, teams some new, faces.
(16:01):
Innovation it's great to have, that and can you have
the balance and that's WHERE i do believe The College
Football playoff allows for that.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
Balance.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Again that's why again we talked About march. Madness don't
expand it because it's fine the way it is a sixty,
eight because you can still have your, upsets you can
have your, Cinderellas but at the end of the, day
typically we're going to see the blue, bloods the best
teams in the country playing for a national, Championship so
that that is definitely part of. It eight six four
two four zero five four eight zero and real, quick
(16:33):
before this, break let's head back out to The engles Hot,
line The Richmond Weaver.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
Show who's this?
Speaker 5 (16:38):
Man?
Speaker 7 (16:38):
Rich there's nothing like turning your show on and the
first THING i hear is my older brother talking.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
Junk there we, Going, neil how are, you?
Speaker 5 (16:46):
Sir i'm doing.
Speaker 7 (16:48):
WELL i hope you guys are doing. WELL i know
you're coming up on a break. NOW i don't know
if you guys can put me on. HOLD i don't
know if you got a guest coming. Up but if
we get to a point where you know you can
put me on hold and we're already talking something, good
you know you can put me on, hold and that's no.
PROBLEM i love. It but, hey, LISTEN i was listening
To billy's. Call appreciate him For, colin AND i appreciate
him for his. INSIGHTS i agree with him going back
to last. Year it just brought me up AND i
(17:09):
was calling BECAUSE i had brought up something from twenty,
Thirteen rich WHERE i used TO i had on covers Dot.
COM i had a fitting Called gators GAY i think
it Was Gators neil seventy Five all sports thread giving away,
picks you, know for in different. SPORTS i was doing
seven different sports AND i was killing.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
IT i just got.
Speaker 7 (17:27):
It somebody just sent me this. Earlier it was a,
screenshot and it made me think about What billy was talking,
about and it made me think about last. Year he's
talking About Ohio state and he did Take Ohio. State
he Had Ohio state Versus Notre. DAME i think he
Had Notre dame. WIN i think he just said. That
but if you go back and this is the theme
that makes sports, great and if you go back and
watch That Ohio State texas, GAME i Had. TEXAS i
(17:47):
Had texas the whole. WAY i Had texas before the,
SEASON i Had texas before the. PLAYOFFS i Had texas
the whole. WAY i still Think texas was the best.
Team if you take Back Ohio state scored a. Touchdown
they got the, BALL i think with under thirty seconds
in the first, half and they hit a seventy five yard.
Touchdown and then they ended up in the third, quarter
either fourth, QUARTER i think it was either late third
(18:09):
or early fourth Where texas was about to tie the
game at twenty. One they got down first and go
at the one yard, line AND i have no idea
what the hell they were calling. There they ended up
scooping score going the other way for a touchdown made
it twenty eight to, fourteen and that was the. Final
SO i still Think texas was the best. Team but
that's what makes sports greats, rich, right is that you
never know what's going to. Happen no matter how the
thing plays, out sometimes it just doesn't play out in your.
Speaker 5 (18:31):
Favor, Right that's.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
Right we talked about. It it's, unscripted it's APPOINTMENT. Tv
that's why we love it because we don't know what
the inding's going to.
Speaker 7 (18:38):
Be, yeah and that's what makes it all fun that
that gives us a little breakaway from the you, know
the entertainment portion of. It, NOW i know THAT i
don't know what he was talking. ABOUT i wasn't listening
to your show On. MONDAY i Heard billy talking about the.
RIVALS i guess he's talking about the Game cocks and The.
Tigers was there like a poll or something where they
came out and said who was the greatest rivalries in?
(18:58):
Sports or what is he talking?
Speaker 5 (18:59):
Abot?
Speaker 3 (19:00):
Yeah, so and that's.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
Disappointing you weren't listening On, Monday, Okay so you got
to get better, Here. Neil you can listen through The iHeartRadio,
app or you know you can listen to it. Live
one oh four Nine Fox Sports, Upstate all right about,
that but, yes on the athletic they put out that
their top one hundred rivalries of all time in college. Football,
(19:23):
Michigan Ohio state was number, One Auburn alabama was number,
Two oklahoma And texas was number. Three Army, Novy army
And navy was number. Four southern Col Notre dame was number,
five And clemson was sitting there In South carolina at
number twenty.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
Four AND i have an issue with.
Speaker 7 (19:44):
THAT i have a big issue with that. TOO i
don't like either. SCHOOL i would pull for the game
called just because THEY'RE, sec but AND i guess BECAUSE
i have to pull a little bit For billy's. Team
but that's That's. Burgus, look you could put them easily
in the top Can i've lived in a couple of
different spots in this, country AND i know people that you,
(20:05):
know even When i'm sitting at the poker room playing
poker done In, florida done In, Daytona you'll have people
glue to The Clemson South carolina game when they're. PLAYING
i promise you you. Will it's a big. Rivalry and
it doesn't matter what these foulsters are coming up. With
they're doing that because Of South. Carolina that's the only
reason they're coming up because it's a small state when
it comes to. Population that's. BOGUS i agree with the
(20:26):
other ones at the, top which you just read. Off
they's some good. RIVALRIES i tell you one, thing And
i'll let you go with. This RICH i know you
got a break AND i don't know if you want
to hold let me hold on or, not BUT i
will tell you. THIS i tell you the rivalry that
wasn't a rivalry was The Nebraska florida back in the.
NINTHIES a robbery means you actually have to be. Competitive
AND i still got nightmares of that rushing. ATTACK i
(20:48):
Sent billy and his son a couple of weeks ago
about and this is one of the things they do to.
Me and when we play, online either college football or
matt and that's the only games we. Play AND i
tell you one thing they do to. Me it'll be
third and fifteen and the knuckleheads come out and run
the ball and screw me all. Up and that's When
nebraska was doing back then third and twenty.
Speaker 5 (21:05):
Other no.
Speaker 7 (21:06):
Problem we'll run a triple. Option we'll put a. Receiver
we'll bring out four, receivers put one in motion and
run a triple. Option they couldn't stop. It so appreciate.
Speaker 6 (21:13):
It.
Speaker 7 (21:13):
Rich, HEY i can't wait for. Football. Baby it's, on, yes,
sir For Puerto rico On. Saturday we're gonna be going
my wife AND i for a couple of, weeks but
WHEN i get back it's going to be one month.
AWAY i cannot. Wait, man this is like go you.
KNOW i know it's just, entertainment but it is such
a fun time to look forward to something every year
when we get, football not just college BUT nfl as.
(21:33):
Well so one other thing And i'd take it off the.
AIR i saw something for you And. Billy they were
talking About Jalen. Hurts Jalen hurts has been, born played
high school, football college, football and now won A Super.
Bowl since The Dallas cowboys even made it, THERE i.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
Had to get that. IN i had to get that
in before you drop the. Mic thank, You.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Neil we appreciate it as, always AND i know we'll
be ready for your pick them as we get closer
and closer to college. Football so, yes we will have
you back on that is for, Certain but anybody, else
you can join the conversation eight six four two four
zero five four eight.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
Zero let's hit this brake and we'll be.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
Back we've got much more of This thursday edition Of
The Richmond Weaver, show presented By Ingles.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
Markets right after, this.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
The text line eight six four triple seven ninety five ninety.
Three again that text line eight six four triple seven
ninety five ninety, three so you can join the conversation. There,
Also oh, yeah we Had texter ninety four zero five
actually texted in that first. Segment didn't see it until just,
(22:42):
now but he was referring To Penn state and the
national championships and made sure to point out, that, Yes
Penn state did win two national championships back in nineteen
eighty two and nineteen eighty six Under Joe. Paterno there so,
Again Penn state is definitely a blue blood type of
football team in college, football and they've had a resurgence
(23:04):
over the past few years and obviously being able to
get right there on the brink of playing for another
national championship and their run there in the college football.
Playoffs so we'll see What James franklin is up to
this year because there's a lot of. Expectations also For Penn,
STATE i think they might have the best running back
duo in the entire.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
Country so obviously you run the.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
Ball that helps your team quite a bit right, Now
AND i know we talk, about, oh you got to
be able to run the ball to set up the,
pass BUT i think with college football right, now you
have to be able to throw the.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
Ball you have to be able to pass.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
It And Drew aller For Penn, state he's definitely that
type of. Quarterback so when you have running back group
Like Penn state and a, quarterback that can make.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
You, very very.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
Dangerous and because at the end of the, day we
can talk about the, defense, yes And i'm all about
defense at, time but we know you're going to have
to be able to outscore people at times, also and
that's Why i'm talking about you've got to be able
to move the ball through the. Air it can't just
all be the ground. Attack, yes you're obviously in a
much better advantage when you have a really good running
(24:18):
game give me two, o'clock of, course but you've got
to be able to make some plays through the. Air
and again with today's college, football just to today's football in,
general you've got to be able to throw the ball
and be able to move the chains by throwing the
ball at times as. Well so thank You texter ninety
four zero five for texting in and joining the. Conversation
(24:39):
but now you can text in with your chance to
try to win a twenty five dollars gift card To.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
Autobil car wash here in The. Upstate so what you
have to.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Do you have to text in eight six' four triple
seven ninety five ninety three answer to the. Trivia question
not only do you have to text in the, correct
answer but you have to be the first one yep
to text in the correct answer. As well, all Right
so i'm going a little, College, FOOTBALL okay i Love,
SO okay i know WE'VE had nba for the past
(25:11):
FEW and i went deep into. The, archives yeah so some.
Deep tracks so it took a little bit for. The
listeners but we've got some smart listeners, out there either
they knew it or they were smart enough to go
be able to. Find it but that's part of, IT
too i. Get it so you might have to do
a little bit, of research. That's Okay so i'm going
with college, football Here and i'm TORN because i think
(25:34):
this might be a little bit of an easy one
or maybe easier yeah than some of, the others but
it could be a. Little tricky so this is interesting
because it's college football and a little BIT of nfl
all Tied, to, yeah, okay, oh yes right here. We go,
All right so the text, line again eight six four
triple seven ninety five? Ninety three, all right which school
(25:56):
has the most first round picks IN the nfl draft
in the history OF the? Nfl draft which school has
the most first round picks IN the? Nfl draft which
school has The most it's a, good, One yes i'll.
(26:18):
Tell you. Number three number three on the List. Is
Alabama so alabama's not, Number ONE so i might have
saved a lot of people From. Picking alabama, Right there
myers their. Number three, so again the question is which
school has the most first round picks IN The nfl
DRAFT in? Nfl history text in the answer eight six
(26:38):
y four triple seven ninety five. Ninety three again that
text line eight six four triple seven ninety five Ninety
three for your opportunity to win a twenty five dollars
gift Card to autobil. Car wash And Yesterday matthew hill
was the respondent and. THE winner i should say of the.
(26:59):
Trivia question so you can be There, with matthew just
text in. Correct answer, all right we're getting some texts
coming in. Right NOW unfortunately i see some wrong answers, so.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
Far keep them. Coming though. IT'S okay i love. The
participation you get? It wrong what's?
Speaker 5 (27:13):
Texting?
Speaker 3 (27:13):
Again exactly, that's right, that's.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Right EXACTLY so i will go and TELL all i
like that because so here's we Had several texters Texting In. Notre,
dame yeah. It's incorrect It's Not. Notre dame so you
Can Eliminate notre dame off. The list, all right how,
about this why don't we? Do, this okay so it's
Not A. Notre dame you can Cross off miami off.
Your list, really Okay so miami's not. Number one and
(27:38):
remember there for a while there was a lot of
people that were All, over miami.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
Especially back in.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
The day they had a lot of people that were
getting Drafted and Southern.
Speaker 7 (27:50):
Cal.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
Oh this is a tough one because they're. Number Two so.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
Southern cal is not number one because somebody just us
recently surpass them and we do have, A winner yes.
We do it, looks, like uh well we.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
This is a.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
Close one we need we need to, verify This. Mister
falco need to check, the time check the clock. You
replay we'll have to do instant, replay, Here, okay okay so.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
We gotta we gotta.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
Solve this and, also yeah we need we need to
figure this out because it, was close, all right so
we we will uh do some investigation here as far
as which was first and who has participated in. The
past is that part of, it Too, Mister falco that.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
Does come, Into, play yeah that does come. INTO play
i think what what?
Speaker 4 (28:45):
IS it i think once a week is what we've
decided on how you.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
Can win so like if you won within the past,
seven days you were.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
Ineligible, ineligible okay so then that that does, identify, It Uh, Hunter, Brew,
yes yes he has. Won, previously yes and he did
text in at the exact same time As another texter
with the. Correct Answer, AND hunter i, do apologize but
you have already won this week because you were able
(29:14):
to answer the question correctly Right with giannis as the
other PLAYER in nba history that was able to win THE,
Season Mvp defensive player Of the year And ALSO. Finals Mvp,
so hunter thank you. For participating thank you for the,
correct answer and the correct Answer is.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
Ohio's state that is the.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Correct answer ninety one players have been drafted in the. First,
round Yes since southern cal actually was. Number one just,
until recently they have eighty five players drafted in the.
First round and We mentioned alabama at number three with
eighty One And notre dame at number four was. Seventy
One in miami at number five was. Sixty Seven so
(30:00):
texter seventy five sixty seven was technically the first one
to be able to text in the winning answer and
That Is. Ohio state so Thank you texter seventy five
sixty seven and everybody else that was able.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
To participate we do.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Appreciate, It yes texter seventy five sixty seven wins a
twenty five dollars gift Card to autobil, car wash and
we will have another, one tomorrow so don't worry. About It,
and hunter if you want to participate next week you
can because we'll reset it. Next week so it's once,
A week so we do appreciate you participating.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
As Always, all.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
Right, the, rivalries yes we do need to talk, about
that and this is probably gonna be something we're going
to talk about a little bit More cause i'm trying
to understand and this IS What i, you know it's
one thing just to put the rankings, out, there right
and there's no context.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
To it it's just the rankings that are.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Out there and so you see this list in, number,
yeah yeah and, you're like what in the world are?
They doing, you know how do They have Florida And
florida state at, Number Nine, Ohio State penn state at,
Number eight Miami And florida state at, Number, Seven yeah
Nebraska and oklahoma at, Number six and we already gave
out the top. Five earlier but you also have the
(31:20):
Likes of Michigan And michigan state at. Number sixteen You've
got Kansas and missouri at. Number nineteen You got Harvard
and yale at. Number twenty You've got Washington and oregon
at number. Twenty one that is a. GREAT rivalry i
give Them to Iowa and wisconsin at. Twenty two and
(31:42):
then you've got The. Egg bowl, Oh Listen mississippi state at,
twenty three right Ahead of Clemson In. South carolina and
then You've got Oklahoma And oklahoma state at. Twenty five
that's basically Stay in Oklahoma And oklahoma state And the
Clemson In south carolina rivalry are. The SAME and i
don't know, understand it but that's why you got to
dig a little bit deeper into the principles that the
(32:06):
athletic went into in terms of ranking.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
These rivalries so it's not just a.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
True subjective there's a lot of subjectivity, in it don't get,
me wrong but there's data that goes into it based
on how many times they've met as, ranked opponents what's
the win loss disparity is at. One sided the prominence
is it high profile or, you know, Power conferences and
this is, also interesting is the rivalry scheduled with THE
(32:37):
best tv network and time slot that has changed so
much over. The years and there's Also a remember now
we've got the propaganda of these each conference trying to
push their agenda and we know how. That's going so
you have to take that into consideration that it's not
(32:57):
this prominent thing is so subjective and does it matter
to their conference or to. College football if these teams play,
each other is it relevant the trajectory in. The series
is it growing in importance or retracting? In importance and?
Then frequency is this an? Annual series do the programs
(33:19):
work to keep it on?
Speaker 5 (33:20):
Their?
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Schedule proximity are these teams in state or are they?
Speaker 1 (33:25):
Border?
Speaker 2 (33:25):
Rivals competitiveness is this a series where there's upsets or
it's very competitive each and? Every? Year moments are there
games that stand out? Decades later are there certain, games that,
oh man that was an epic rivalry type? Of game
and you can look At The alabama auburn the kick
Six where auburn wins on returning a missed field goal
(33:49):
for one. HUNDRED yards, i mean that's insane when you
think about it from that side.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
Of things?
Speaker 2 (33:54):
And intensity is this a series both fan bases circle
when the schedule.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
Comes out you.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
Can't Tell me Clemson And south carolina fans aren't circling.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
That game we talked.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
About it they're trying to buy calendars with it. Already
circles but do we talk about?
Speaker 2 (34:09):
It exactly there's fans that would they would sign up
for going winless and just as long as they beat, their,
rival Right beating crimson Or Beating. South Carolina and i'm being,
facetious there but to a, certain.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
Degree there is some of that in that. Does happen and.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
Then longevity how many times have they competed against each other?
And history are these teams longtime members of the same
conference or do they have some type of trophy that
they can? Compete for, you know all of those type,
of games all those type of SCENARIOS or i should
say principles as they. Have outlined and that's why when
you Look, AT clemson, i mean There's In, south carolina
(34:49):
there's so many things that are attractive based on what
we're seeing in some of. Those PRINCIPLES and i get
it Outside, of clemson does quote unquote own the series
seventy three to forty four to?
Speaker 3 (35:04):
FOUR ties i do.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
Get that but there's longevity with this series also going
all the way back to eighteen ninety six and they've
played one hundred and twenty. One times that's one of
the most rivalries played in all of. College football, oh
yeah so you, have that and you can't tell me
that the trajectory right now is not increasing for. This
(35:29):
rivalry and that's all we talked about how great it
would be for the State Of south carolina if we
have both of. These teams can imagine right come to
the End, of november Right, after thanksgiving and We've got
Clemson In south carolina competing where they might be jockeying for,
national perspective, national relevancy and national position Into The College.
Speaker 3 (35:51):
Football playoff it would.
Speaker 2 (35:53):
Be phenomenal and then at on top of That That
cad Klubnick And lenora sellers could both Be The, heisman,
canadas right actually both of them Go To.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
NEW york, i mean that would.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
Be insane so you can't tell me that there's not
more To This Clemson south, carolina rivalry because.
Speaker 3 (36:11):
This is it in.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
The state there's no, pro teams there's nothing that this, state,
gravitate yep towards more than. This rivalry so to have
it sitting there at twenty four is such a disservice
to the definition. OF rivalry i don't even know how
to respond, to this EVEN though i did. MY homework
(36:34):
i went and looked exactly understanding the principles that they
looked at and their way off base on some of
these principles based on other rivalries that we see because
it's not just About The Clemson south. Carolina game it's
relative to some of these, other Games and i'm telling
you they're missing the.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
MARK here i agree.
Speaker 4 (36:54):
WITH that i would, also say and this ties into
what you were talking. ABOUT earlier i believe you mentioned it,
in hour but definitely in the first, hour too this
fact that you would rather both rivalries be you Would
rather carolina be.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
Really good like you you're in.
Speaker 4 (37:08):
A minority, Then YES and i say that to say
if You're a, carolina fan if You're a, CLEMSON fan
i think you need to get over that and want
both your teams to.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
Be good because if you feel, that.
Speaker 4 (37:19):
Disrespect, oh well we've got a.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
Good rivalry why don't they?
Speaker 4 (37:22):
See, it well if both teams start winning and it's
a game, worth watching you're gonna move up. That list
none of those other, metrics matter ding everything else will fall.
In place you'll get on. Better channels if that's what
they take. Into account it'll be the matches will mean
something because it'll be on a. National level you'd be
playing for. SOMETHING meaningful i get you can be mad
all you want that this is ranked at, Twenty fourth
(37:44):
but if you're gonna sit there and, be LIKE but
i don't want the other team to be, good though
then sit there and.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
Be mad. That's right you might be on.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Your way to get in a twenty five dollars gift
Card to autowori. Car loss because that's a very. GOOD
take i, Like, that, Yes exactly and that's. The point
what's wrong with have both teams?
Speaker 3 (38:00):
Really? Good right it would be.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
Absolutely fantastic and how many TIMES have i said it
here on the, show too that with rising tides all boats. Are,
Lifted right, let's go let's have boath teams. Really, good
yeah it'd be. Absolutely fantastic let me know your thoughts
before we hit this break eight six four two four
zero five four. Eight zero let's head out to the
(38:23):
egansalt line, right Now The richmond. Weavers show who's?
Speaker 5 (38:25):
This tray what's?
Speaker 3 (38:28):
Going, on well what's Happened? IN chad i could tell
it was you just from. The.
Speaker 6 (38:33):
Call man i'm just gonna, tell, YOU man i lis.
Just trash this is a whole. Trash. Man carolina clinton
ain't in the, top, five man it ain't even the.
RIGHT list I mean Clinton. In carolina the Only time
Clinton in carolina game is less important Is when clinton's.
Speaker 5 (38:56):
Playing for the.
Speaker 6 (38:57):
National title that was otherwise that game is the most
important game of the year for. Either, School dude carolina's
not going to play for.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
The title, but yeah, well hey and can you imagine
if both teams did have the opportunity of Making the
College football playoff at the end of, the year and
they're sitting there playing for that potential of where they
might be seeded In The College, football playoff it.
Speaker 3 (39:20):
Would be even.
Speaker 2 (39:22):
More meaningful when you look at, This, List Michigan, OHIO
state I, Get, AUBURN alabama I Get oklahoma texas at, number.
Speaker 3 (39:30):
Three The red, river Rivalry red river.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
Shootout to all, Of That army navy just for their
tradition at.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
Number Four But Southern Callan. NOTRE dame i know.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
Those are two. STORY programs i. Get it but then
you Go to Nebraska. And oklahoma, I'm sorry Clemson And
south carolina at minimum needs to be in the, top
ten no question.
Speaker 6 (39:52):
About, it yeah at least i'd say. Top five, BUT yeah,
i mean you know that might be a Homework for Clemson.
In carolina BUT well's i don't see whoever made that
LIST is i don't have a. Clue man.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
That's, right well we might have To Get scott doctorman
on the show because he's the one who put.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
It together, BUT again i did, My.
Speaker 6 (40:14):
Homework chad i'm won't call in and say please. Explain, yourself, Yeah.

Mike, gundy well you.
Speaker 8 (43:07):
Got to restructure, the system and you got to admit
that the players, are employees and then you can build
a Collective bargaining we've all talked, about it but you
have to admit, their employees and.
Speaker 1 (43:18):
You have you could actually have a.
Speaker 9 (43:19):
Salary cap you can, do it and you, need that
and then you need an entry salary cap like you
need an entry level for a high school player coming
in because it's.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
Not sustainable not sustainable makes a. Good point we've. Said
that and.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
The, easy ANSWER and i shouldn't, say easy but a
logical answer is collective bargaining.
Speaker 3 (43:43):
Salary cabs and we've.

the world and some of these. Other golfers you Look
At ben, Hogan Again, Jack Nicholas bobby, jones man he
(45:28):
was a legit dude on the golf course and a
car wreck that also kind of sidelined him for a
while and changed things. For him but he was an
amateur for a long period of time because the whole
amateurism and not being able to. Go pro, SO again
i just wonder what some of these guys would have
been able to do if they would have gone pro a.
(45:49):
Lot earlier, so yes just think. About that and in nineteen,
Seventy Six johnny miller would beat nineteen Year.
Speaker 3 (45:55):
