Speaker 1 (00:02):
Exploring the latest headlines and in depth conversations. It's the
Richmond Weavers Show on one oh four nine Fox Sports
Upstate presented by Ingles Low Prices, love the savings, now
for riches, take on sports. Here's Richmond Weaver ready to roll.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
This Tuesday right here on one oh four nine Fox
Sports Upstate. And we do appreciate you listeners out there
being an investor investing your time right here on this
Tuesday edition of the Richmond Weavers Show, presented by our
good friends at Ingles Markets. Running solo once again, mister
Trey Falco is out, but we do expect him back

(00:43):
later this week, so we will make the best as
far as what we've got going on right here. A
lot of content and I'll make sure to press the
proper buttons to make sure that we stay on the air,
and we want you to join the conversation as always.
Eight six four two four zero five four eight zero.
Again that number to the Engles hotline eight six' four

(01:05):
two four zero five four eight. Zero and of course
we're inching closer and closer to THE Nfl draft twenty
twenty five In Green, Bay, wisconsin Lambeau field and all
of the excitement getting ready for that draft in another host.
City and, AGAIN i think THE nfl does a great

(01:27):
job making sure that they're bringing this event to the.
Fans AND i want to talk about that a little bit,
more But i'm going to save that for the next
segment Because i've got some thoughts on THE Nfl draft
and just the evolution of THE Nfl draft and where
it is today relative to what it used to, be
and how we didn't even blink an eye about THE

(01:50):
Nfl draft twenty years. Ago this was not something that
you really focused. On but in today's world twenty twenty,
five oh, yeah you better believe we're making sure that
we understand what's going on with THE Nfl, draft because
it's the season of, hope or the beginning of that
season of hope for so many, franchises so many, coaches

(02:14):
so many general, managers and obviously so many. Fans BUT
i do want to talk SOME nba playoff, action AND
i know we're going to talk some GREAT nba stuff
tomorrow With Jason, temp host Of Hoops, tonight and we'll
be able to break it down in much more granular
type of. Details some of the x's and o's why
some of these matchups are where they are right, now

(02:37):
and really get an idea of moving forward what we
can start doing in terms of making some conclusions versus
our observations early. On AND i think that's one of
the key things because when we've Had jason on, before
and we've talked about this, before THAT nba playoff, action
it's not necessarily about.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Your star and your role.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Players it's about those players versus the other teams star
player role.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Players so it's matchup.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Dependent And i've joked several times that as we hear
the old mantra in terms of real, estate its, location, location,
location AND nba playoffs in the, postseason obviously it is, matchups, matchups.
Matchups And jason has done a lot of great work

(03:32):
looking at all of the film as we are moving
forward in the twenty twenty FIVE Nba, Playoffs SO i
want to start with.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
That some.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Games last, night The Detroit pistons get a big time
win there against The New York knicks one hundred to
ninety four In Kate cunningham, showcases And jason talked about
him last week that watch out For Kate cunningham because
if The pistons want to win this, series it's going

(04:02):
to be dependent on How Kate cunningham. Plays, now obviously
they have some other role, players but when you're looking
at a performance last night thirty three, points twelve, rebounds
and that's just Separating Kate cunningham in terms of the
elite level type of status and how that's going to
carry The Detroit, pistons a young team here in the,

(04:24):
playoffs get in their first playoff victory in fifteen years.
NOW i remember The Detroit pistons way back in the,
day the Bad. BOYS i, mean they were the elite
of the elite in THE, nba winning back to BACK nba.
Championships and also they were the team That Michael jordan

(04:45):
just couldn't get. Over but then you even fast forward
several years past, that you've got The Ben wallace air
there with The Detroit pistons and winning a national, CHAMPIONSHIP i,
mean excuse, me A nba championship With Rip hamilton, also
and then.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
The sahara The desert for The Detroit.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Pistons and now could they have a resurgence right now
With Kate cunningham and get a big time victory to
even up that series last night one hundred to ninety, four.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
And then the game of the, evening and.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
We talked about this too THAT i think this is
the most intriguing matchup because it's two, stars The joker
Nikola A jokic Versus Kawhi, leonard and The clippers even
up the series one oh five to ONE o, two
and they could easily be sitting in the driver's seat

(05:39):
up TWO oho in this. Series but it Was Kawhi
leonard thirty nine points last night and showcasing what we
remember About Kawhi. Leonard he had thirty nine points on
nineteen field goal attempts and five free throw attempts last,
night shooting what we call a true shooting percentage of

(06:00):
ninety two. Percent and that's the ninth time that he
has scored thirty or more points on eighty point eighty
percent or better on true shooting percentage in a playoff.
Game and that's more than any other player IN nba.
History but a lot of times we forget About Kawhi
leonard because of the injuries and how he has not

(06:22):
been able to play a full. Season and that was
a big time victory for THE La clippers And Kawhi
leonard and could this be a somewhat of a pathway
For kawhi to cement his. Legacy he's won AN nba.
Championship we know that he was able to do that
with The Toronto, raptors a team that nobody thought would

(06:45):
be able to win AN nba. Championship but he was
able to carry that. Team so can he carry THE La?
Clippers and so speaking of, that there is something interesting
THAT i Read Brian WINHORST espn talked about players that
winning AN nba championship would cement their, legacy and it

(07:07):
also made me start, thinking you know what makes a.
Legend and we've talked about this several times when especially
you look at it from a football, standpoint it's the Super,
Bowl it's the playoff. Runs it's the postseason and great regular. Seasons,
yes they can make you a, star they can make you,

(07:29):
rich but playoff, runs that's what makes you a. Legacy
that's what makes you the elite of the. Elite that
what makes you. Immortal that's what you have to have
if you want to be considered for a. Goat Charles,
barklay he's still haunted by No. Ring Kevin garnett went

(07:49):
from first round exits to A boston legend just with one,
championship And Jerry west the logo rest in peace eight
final losses before he became the logo winning a. Championship
and Pat, RILEY i think said it best, quote there's

(08:10):
winning and then there's misery end. Quote and so you
have to understand that the difference between, winning and especially
when you're talking about winning at the postseason, level winning,
championships that's where you can cement your. Legacy and SO

(08:32):
i think right, now When i'm looking at THESE nba,
playoffs there's several players THAT i do believe that can
create their legacy or cement their. Legacy And i'm going
to start With New York Jalen. Brunson he is the
heartbeat Of New york right. Now he's a fearless type of,
leader and he's already a hero In New. York he's

(08:55):
the First nick since the nineteen sixties to average twenty
five points five assists and back to back, Seasons he's
led The knicks to back to back fifty wins seasons
and that's the first time since Pat riley was the
head coach of The. Knicks back in the. Nineties but
here's the issue right now With Jalen. Brunson The, knicks

(09:17):
we know haven't won a title since nineteen seventy, three
And Jalen brunson's record against elite level teams Like, cleveland Like,
boston LIKE, okc out in The. West you start raising
your eyebrows because his record against those. Teams oh and.

(09:39):
Ten you can't create that type of. Legacy you don't
want that type of. Legacy oh and. Ten now this
guy is clutched though twenty eight points per game in the,
postseason but The knicks are two and two in playoff
series with him at the.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Lead and we that in the.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Offseason The knicks made all types of trades this past
summer and they want a conference finals run or even
obviously AN nba. Championship so the question, is at the
age of twenty, EIGHT i Know brunson he still has,
time but can he end that drought with The knicks

(10:22):
and get over that hump again and ten against some
of the elite level teams when you're looking At, Cleveland
boston AND Okc and we know right, now statistically, speaking
you're going to have to go through at least one
of those teams to get AN nba, ring AN nba
championship For Jalen. Brunson all, right we'll stay in The.

(10:44):
East how about this? One is This cleveland's missing? Piece
Mister Donovan mitchell has been a regular season beast for The.
Cavaliers he's led them to a sixty percent winning percentage
over the past five, seasons including sixty four wins for

(11:05):
The cavs this. Year that's a seventy percent win, rate
Six All star, nods An ALL, nba eight straight playoff.
Appearances but, also here's the other problem With Donovan, mitchell
very similar to what we saw With Jalen. Brunson Donovan
mitchell's never made it past the second. Round last, Year

(11:28):
boston took care Of cleveland like nobody's. Business, now part
of it had to do With Donovan mitchell missing two.
Games but to be a franchise, cornerstone you've got to
be healthy and you've also you've got to be able
to get your team.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
Passed to second. Round, now how about.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
This in his playoff, career twenty eight point seven points per,
game but his teams are zero and five in each
of those series where he's been the leading. Scorer, now
he's twenty eight years, old just Like Jalen. Brunson but
at some point you've got to get over that. Hump

(12:07):
and if you're just relying On Donovan, MITCHELL i don't
know If cleveland's going to be able to get over
that hump because they need to play team. Basketball all. Right,
now we'll go to a, guy Mister James. Harden this
is guy THAT i do believe that he has a

(12:28):
legacy in, place there's no question about.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
It but can he be viewed as a?

Speaker 2 (12:35):
Champion can he be viewed as a guy that contributed
and almost can we say an underrated redemption type of
arc For James harden because we know the bearded maestro
he can, score and it's amazing watching him still be
able to get to the. Rim now it's a little

(12:57):
bit different When yokic is trying to guard you on
the pick and, roll Because jokic can't do, it So
harden can take it to the. Rim but his little
left handed floaters still is so hard to defend. It
and then you have to respect his three point. Shooting,
now obviously his career has been on a roller. Coaster

(13:17):
three trade requests in five. Years, hello that doesn't sound
like a team. Player and he's obviously taken some pr.
Hits but let's talk some of the. Facts James harden
has made the playoffs every single year of his sixteen season.
Career that's one hundred and twenty five playoff. Games he's

(13:38):
an eleven Time All, star AN mvp in twenty, eighteen
and he still dropped thirty two points In game one
of that.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Series so far here with The.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Nuggets now obviously they, lost but still this is a guy.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
Who can still.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Contribute but the knock on him is come playoff, time
he has had some, difficulties some. Stinkers since his twenty
and twelve finals run WITH, okc he hasn't sniffed the
finals and his last conference finals was twenty and eighteen With.
Houston and the stat that's going to haunt, him he's

(14:18):
zero to six in game seven in those.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Series that's not.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Good and at thirty, five time is running out For James.
Harden but you've got to remember he has been, there done,
that and with a team like The, clippers when you
have a guy Like Kawhi leonard that can take, over
it might be a little bit different For James harden
this go?

Speaker 3 (14:39):
Around all?

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Right how about this one traded Mister Jimmy. Butler is
this Playoff? Jimmy is This jimmy buckets last? Shot now
With Golden, state we know if there's one thing About Jimmy,
butler he's a. Dog we've seen him multiple, times two
finals runs With, miami countless. Upsets, again we saw A

(15:03):
miami team that had no business.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Getting to THE Nba.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
Finals and his stat line In game one Against houston
twenty five, points seven, rebounds six, assists five. Steals that's
Vintage Jimmy butler right. There but it is his legacy
tarnished with how he Left miami and knowing that you're

(15:28):
leaving for a team that The, warriors as talented as they,
are as experienced as they, are do they have enough.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
Firepower but you Have Steph curry and you Have Steve.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
Kerr SO i think there's something that tells you right
there That Jimmy butler can be that guy when you
look at his playoff record and you look at what
he's done in the playoffs twenty one points per, game
and he's ten and five in playoff. Series when he
was With, miami he loves the, postseason and that's why

(16:03):
we call him Playoff Jimmy Jimmy. Buckets so his legacy
could definitely be cemented with a ring in THE nba.
Playoffs Shy Gilgus Alexander. Sga is this THE mvp burden For?
Sga because we know right now he's the favorite to

(16:27):
win THE mvp for THE nba this, season he's the
front runner and after finishing second last, season is this
the time.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
Where he gets that?

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Crown but we KNOW mvp, awards those type of things
are great for the, players and we talked about, it
those regular season. Awards they can give you, stardom they
can make you, rich they can make you some.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
Money but these guys want.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
Rings three straight First Team ALL nba, teams three straight
top FIVE NBA mvp, finishes and his resume is already
screaming that he's going to make The hall Of. Fame but,
again there's something that might be. Missing and here's the
stat that looms large For. Sga okac's playoff record one

(17:17):
in four as the number one seed last, year a
first round. Exit guess, what that's not what MVPs. Do
they don't let their team exit in the first, round
winning your number one. Seed his playoff stats are solid
twenty seven points per, game six assists per, game but

(17:38):
his teams are two and three in playoff. Series he's
only twenty six years, old so he's really getting into
that point where he's starting to prove himself that, phase
and there's plenty of. Time and This thunder, team they
do look a little bit different to start this playoff,
run winning by fifty one points Against, memphis so watch OUT.

(17:59):
SGA a ring could definitely vault him into That Durant
Kevin durant conversation FOR Okc legends and even Surpass Kevin.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Durant and, lastly It's.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
Luca luka doncik you talking about expectations being sky high
For luca And lebron and The. Lakers we saw What
luca was able to do last year With Dallas electric
making it to the. Finals thirty three, points nine, rebounds eight,
assists two steals per game in The Western conference. Finals

(18:36):
so this guy IS mvp all the. Time but in the,
finals he shot twenty four percent from, three coughed up
twenty three turnovers in five, games and if you, remember
he got disqualified In game three that's not the type
of stuff that legends are made. Of game one Against

(18:58):
minnesota this, year thirty seven, points but guess What lakers
got smoked, one seventeen to ninety. Five and that's something
that worries. Me how will The lakers come back out
in game? Two, oh we're going to find. Out and
also a staff that wears. Me luca's four to nine
playoff record when he scores thirty five or, more so

(19:20):
he's got to be able to translate some of those gaudy.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Numbers into, wins and he needs.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
Support now you Have Lebron, james you Have Austin, reeves
so you have some of, that but you don't have
a true. Center and that's Where i'm just wondering if
that's going to be the downfall of The. Lakers but,
Remember luca's twenty six years.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
Old he is.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Young we talked about it when the trade happened and
how we were all so surprised about the. Trade And
Nico harrison is coming out, now the general manager of The,
mavericks even talking about and it makes it almost worse
how he says that he knew that fans really Liked

(20:09):
luca and that there was something About luca and the,
city the community and how much he meant to the.
Community but he also goes on to state that he
just didn't realize how big it. Was, well isn't that
your role as a general manager before you make a

(20:31):
trade like, that that you go through all of the
pros and cons and understand what you're looking at before
you trade away one of the greatest talents in THE
nba we have right. Now and so For, luca can
you imagine the legacy that he would cement winning AN
nba championship in his first year with The lakers and

(20:53):
not even a full year because he was traded midway
through this past. Season that would be stuff that you
couldn't even script considering coming off of the finals loss
there In, dallas and then get traded away and go
win AN nba championship for The lakers of all, Teams,

(21:15):
yes That, lakers and Helping lebron continue his legacy with another. Ring,
oh that would be the stuff movies would be made.
Of so there's my players right, There Jalen, Brunson Donovan,
Mitchell James, Harden Jimmy, Butler sga And Luka. Doncik they
can cement a legacy by getting a. Ring let me

(21:39):
know your. Thoughts who can win a ring THIS nba?
Season who has the best shot or take your calls
eight six four two four zero five four eight. Zero
again that number is eight six four two four.

Speaker 3 (21:51):
Zero five four eight.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
Zero and we'll talk a LITTLE nfl draft in some
of the history behind it as we continue This tuesday

(22:35):

(22:57):

Speaker 3 (23:19):
It go TO bmw.

Speaker 2 (23:21):

The Richmond Weavers, show presented by our good friends At
Ingles markets and Mister Trey, falco who is usually behind

(23:41):
the board and behind the, mic is, out but we
do expect him later this, week so we are running
a little bit solo so you can join the. Conversation
eight six four two four zero five four eight. Zero
again that number is eight six four two four zero
five four eight. Zero obviously we were talking a lot
a lot OF Nba playoff. Action we've got more games

(24:03):
tonight we saw the games last, night and now who
will continue to have a little bit of an. Edge
we've got The bucks and The pacers tipping off at
seven pm ON NBA, Tv grizzlies And thunder at seven
point thirty ON, tnt and then also the nightcap The
Minnesota Timber bowls and THE La lakers ON tnt also

(24:26):
there In Los. Angeles and you do not want to
go DOWN o two in any of these. Series AND
i know these statistics will start indicating some. Conclusions as
we've talked, about you got to be careful with some
of these. Conclusions let's just make some. Observations but you
go DOWN o, two you're going to be in a tricky.

(24:48):
Situation so a lot of MORE nba action coming up later,
tonight and we'll be able to talk all about the
matchups With Jason, temp host Of Hoops tonight tomorrow as
our weekly segment that we Have jason here and excited
that we've been able to have him on. Again if
you have not followed his, channel his YouTube Channel Hoops,

(25:10):
tonight make sure you do. That they just crossed over
one hundred thousand subscribers on that channel because they do
a fantastic. Job he works consistently With Colin cowherd On
collins's podcast through the. Volume so again make sure you
check Out hoops tonight With Jason timph and we'll have
him on talking. Tomorrow, now the other thing that's coming

(25:32):
up THE Nfl. Draft we know it is a big
time event On, thursday and this is something that now
the iconic Lambeau field And titletown district will be front
and center starting On thursday Through, saturday the twenty fourth
through the twenty. Six heart of football country is what

(25:53):
a lot of people want to talk, about and SO
i wanted to look at how we got to this
point with THE Nfl draft because it is taking on
a life of its own over the, past from my,
perspective past five, years but you could even go back
maybe the past ten years when THE nfl decided to

(26:15):
try to do something a little bit. Different now this
has gone from just a sleepy type of, entity something
that we didn't even really take into full. CONSIDERATION i
remember talking With Levon, kirkland Former Pittsburgh, steeler all time,
great Former clemson, linebacker and he talked about that he

(26:38):
was finishing up his exams and driving home when he
got by the time he got home that he found
out that he was drafted by The Pittsburgh. Steelers so
this is not something that a lot of times that
it has been a true focal point in terms of
how much attention that it's been. Getting, oh it has

(27:00):
changed over the years and fans they don't seem to
be able to get enough of THE Nfl draft right,
Now and you have to take a look at it
that now that fans realize what this, is it is
completely different than what it was back in nineteen thirty
six when the draft, started just a bunch of team

(27:22):
execs in a hotel ballroom there at The Ritz carlton In,
philly just writing names on a piece of paper and
that was. It then you fast forward to the nineteen
eighties AND espn starts, televising and suddenly it's got a
little bit of a poult because REMEMBER, espn they wanted,
content any type of sports.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
Content they were all over.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
It by the two, thousands it's At Radio City Music,
hall and then you get the mel kiper juniors yelling
about offensive tackles and the crowd going, Crazy jets fans
booing at every draft, pick that they. Make and then
in twenty, fifteen THE nfl made a, change and they

(28:05):
made a change for, good and they did something THAT
i think is.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
Brilliant they, said let's take this show on the.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
Road if you, Remember chicago hosted that, year and it
was like the draft got some type of shot.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Of adrenaline at that.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
Point we've seen it In, philly we've seen it In,
nashville we've seen it In, Cleveland, Vegas Kansas, City detroit
last year and now Green.

Speaker 3 (28:29):
Bay and last Year.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
Detroit seven hundred and seventy five thousand fans showed up
over the three. Days that's more people that live in some.
States that's how big this. Is and now we're even
seeing the president of The, Lions Rod, wood talking about
there's no way That Green bay is going to be

(28:52):
able to break that type of. Record so you got the,
love the, competitiveness and the pettiness and the rivalry that
go on when you've Got detroit and Green. Bay so
now there's reports that there could be almost three hundred
thousand people descending on the title. Town And i'm telling

(29:13):
you this is an experience because it's more than just The,
draft and THE nfl has done a great job turning
it into fan. Experience it's not just about watching your
team what pick they might, make but there's so much.
More you've got the draft. Experience you've got free football
festival open to. Everybody you can run the forty yard,
dash you can kick a field, goal you can test

(29:35):
your reflexes at A gatorade, booth you can get a
picture with The Vince Lombardi. Trophy there's all types of
things for the, fans and at the end of the,
day that's what the fans want because it has turned
into entertainment and that draws the. Fans but there's also something,
else and this is what we've talked. About one of

(29:55):
the things that WHY i think fans love this so.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
Much Number, one it's.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
Hope every year there's a chance to dream. Big and
if your team is four and, thirteen it doesn't. Matter
you might have the first round, pick you might have
the overall first, pick and can you get that beloved?
Quarterback can you get that guy that's going to elevate your?
Team and then number, TWO i think THE nfl by

(30:21):
making that move going out into the, cities they've made
it personal and they've tapped into local.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
Pride, rodwood the.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
President of The, lions is talking about That Green bay's
no way going to break the record That detroit. Set
so there's something about that that local, pride that team,
pride and that season of, hope and that's one of
the things that has made this, entity THE Nfl draft
what it is.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
Today All, Right we're.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
Going to take this, break AND i know we've got
a caller on hold right. Now we will get to
you right after this break as we will continue This
tuesday edition of The Richmond Weaver show presented By Ingles
markets right after this live from The Ingles studio in Downtown.
Greenville this is The tuesday edition of The Richmond Weavers
show presented By Ingles. Markets and make sure you check

(31:12):

Speaker 3 (31:33):

Speaker 2 (31:35):
Four two four zero five four eight zero is The
ingles hotline and let's head out there right. Now chad
the Vending king wants to join. In, chad how are
you this? Afternoon my?

Speaker 3 (31:47):
Friend, alright we're doing all, right.

Speaker 4 (31:51):
Man it's just started raining here in the snack. Van
we're gonna have to turn on the.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
Windshield that's, Right, hey be careful driving out there AS i.
Do you see it starting to rain a little bit,
here AND i think we do have more rain coming.
In but your thoughts on THE nfl draft and what
makes it so?

Speaker 4 (32:07):
Popular, MAN i will tell you it's two, things and
you kind of hit on both. Them one of them
is the moving into different. Locations, man that's a big.
Deal you, said what how many thousand people showed up last?

Speaker 2 (32:21):
Year seven hundred and seventy five thousand approximate.

Speaker 4 (32:26):
Fans, wow that's amazing and that's one reason that's doing.
Spopular but the biggest, deal, MAN i won't, say is
Mister meyl Copper. Man that dude's draft pics man has
been a staple for. Years it gets people tuned. In
they pay attention to what that dude's. Saying and Even
Dan patrick hid on, THIS i believe it was yesterday

(32:48):
he wants to Nominate kapper for The hall Of, fame
AND i think it would be well.

Speaker 3 (32:53):
Deserved, yeah and you're spot.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
ON i Heard Dan patrick actually talking about it last
week and then reiterate it. Yesterday as far as him
pushing for mel Kiper junior to be inducted into THE
Nfl Pro FOOTBALL i should Say hall Of fame In,
Canton AND i don't disagree BECAUSE i think there is
something About, obviously we had technology that has helped social

(33:19):
media getting more content out, there but mel Kiper, junior
he was the driver of a lot of, that getting
that type of, content breaking down the draft and guess
what he started being able to do for the. Fans
he started creating. Debates he started creating opportunities for fans

(33:40):
to talk about who they wanted and who he believed
was the best selection for that particular fan. Base and
you know that can be, polarizing.

Speaker 4 (33:51):
Right he changed the game.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
Rising, yeah AND i think there's something to be, Said
AND i Think Dan patrick he's not going to make
mention of that unless he's really got some traction as
far as getting milk kiper at least nominated there to
be into The hall Of. Fame AND i think there's

(34:13):
some real legs to, that and it would not surprise
me if Mel Kiper junior is elected to The Pro
Pro Football hall Of.

Speaker 4 (34:20):
Fame oh, YEAH i definitely agree with, you, Man and
LIKE i, said that duds change the. Game everybody pays
attention to What copper says about the, Draft, yeah AND
i have for.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
Years that's.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
Right and he's also now created a generation of draft
predictors from all types of other people now that are
out there and they're getting graded in how they are
graded relative to Mel kuiper.

Speaker 4 (34:50):
SELECTIONS i, mean even Don't big Kan ellis has got
a mock draft about every, day all, Right.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Yes it'll keep you entertained with those mock drafts because
again it's what the fans they're wanting to understand who's
going to help their team in this beginning the season of.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
Hope.

Speaker 2 (35:11):
Chad we appreciate the phone, call, sir and you stay
dry out there and make sure you stay safe out
on those.

Speaker 4 (35:16):
Roads well do Rich. Man we'll be tuned in My thank,
You chad.

Speaker 2 (35:22):
And greatly appreciate. It and anybody else out there you
can join the conversation eight six four two four zero
five four eight. Zero, again that number is eight six
four two four zero five four eight. Zero and let's
take a look at some of the latest.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
Headlines it's only.

Speaker 1 (35:41):
One, GAME fla and that's to take care Of benne
hitting the latest. Headlines it's the daily. Rundown all?

Speaker 3 (35:49):
Right how about?

Speaker 2 (35:50):
This we did learn in THE nba That Dame lillard
is expected to be back tonight to help The bucks
in that series against The Indiana, pacers And yannis needs
some help as there was questions With Dame lillard going
to be able to participate because of blood, clots but
it does seem like he's been able to get all

(36:13):
of that to. Rectify doesn't have to continue taking the.
Medicine and so will that be a big shot of
adrenaline should.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
We say for The bucks there against The.

Speaker 2 (36:24):
PACERS i still think The pacers are a better, team
But jannis can be the guy that can lead them
in this.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
Series all? Right how about?

Speaker 2 (36:31):
This in college, football it was announced that the quarterfinals
and semifinals in national championship games have been set dates and.
Times so the, quarterfinals you've got The Cotton Bowl, Wednesday
december thirty, first at seven to thirty, pm you've got
The Orange Bowl, Thursday january the.

Speaker 3 (36:52):
First at, noon you have The Rose, bowl.

Speaker 2 (36:56):
Typically a five pm Kickoff Eastern, time has now been
moved back to four pm On, Thursday january the, first
and then also the, nightcap The Sugar bowl.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
On Thursday january the, first is at eight.

Speaker 2 (37:10):
Pm they're the college football playoff, quarterfinals And i'm all
about less adjusting some of these.

Speaker 3 (37:17):
Times the.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
Semifinals we've got The Fiesta bowl On, Thursday january the,
eighth kickoff at seven thirty, pm and then The Peach Bowl,
Friday january the, ninth also at seven thirty, pm and
then The National championship Game, Monday january the, nineteenth twenty twenty,
six seven thirty. Pm oh that is so much, better

(37:44):
so much better at least the. Time BUT i still
don't understand why we're playing a college football game on
A monday night for a national. Championship why would we
not look at That saturday? Night AND i know at
that time you're starting to see THE nfl creep into the,
schedule AND i get, it you don't want to go

(38:06):
up against THE, nfl but my, goodness college football it
is typically played on A saturday and don't we gravitate Towards.
Saturdays don't we almost crave A saturday college football game
in The National. CHAMPIONSHIP i think fans would be all
over an opportunity to have A National championship game played

(38:29):
on A saturday rather than A. Monday but at least
at seven point, thirty that at least gives you the
opportunity on The East coast where it's not going to be. Midnight,
now maybe if it goes into multiple, OVERTIMES i do understand.
That but at least that's a, start and maybe as
the playoff is, expanded we might see some changes in.

Speaker 5 (38:52):
Some of the.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
Days in college, basketball there were reports yesterday That Ian
shefflin And Jayden zachary of The Clemson tiger had put
their names in the transfer, portal and many people were,
questioning what in the world are you.

Speaker 3 (39:06):
Doing you don't have any eligibility.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
Left, well just so you, know there is a potential,
lawsuit a case being heard right now that would overrule
the four year eligibility that THE ncublea has required at
least has put into place as established.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
For dozens and dozens and dozens of, years.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
But it would allow five years of, Eligibility but we
do know that THE NC doublea they will not discuss
whether or not players will receive five years of eligibility
moving forward via legislation until after a final decision on
the house settlement has been. Made and the house settlement

(39:50):
has not been made, yet so, unfortunately it's going to
be a long shot for these guys to get an
extra year. Eligibility And Ian sheflin And Jaden zachary are
not the only ones doing. This there's a lot of
college basketball players that put their name in the transfer
portal just in case there be an advised to go

(40:12):
ahead and do, that because then if it does rule
in their, favor then they have the ability to make
a decision to transfer or stay where they. Are so
we'll be interesting to, see but right, now we won't
know anything for quite a, while and that's something to
keep your eyes on how that plays. Out All, right

(40:34):
that's some of the latest, headlines and we will continue
This tuesday edition Of The Richmond Weaver show presented By
Ingles markets right after. This The tuesday edition Of The
Richmond Weaver show presented By Ingles markets continues right here
on one oh four Nine Fox sports upstate as we
have flown through this, hour and we did need to

(40:56):
make sure to mention big baseball Matchup clemson Versus georgia,
Today clemson the number two team taking on the number
ten team in the. Country, yes that is a big
time matchup in college. Baseball you gotta love a midweek
matchup like. That but we want you to join the
conversation eight six four two four zero five to four eight,

(41:18):
zero and let's head out to The engles hot line right.
Now we've Got billy on Hold. Billy good afternoon to, you,
sir and thank you for joining the.

Speaker 5 (41:25):
Show thank you for having me. In good afternoons to.
You two quick questions THAT i think you'll. Like the first, One,
okay THE nba obviously expanded to. Ten if you count
the playing. Games out of those twenty, teams how many
do you think that when that started had a legitimate
chance to win it?

Speaker 2 (41:43):
ALL i would say there's four to six teams that
have a legitimate chance to win it.

Speaker 5 (41:48):
All, YEAH i think it's more like three or, four
but we're. Closed the last, question why is it the
D nfl draft is so much more watched popular than
the other? DRAFTS i mean it's just as simple as
it's the league and that's the reason, why or is

(42:08):
it multi. Faceted i'll hang up and. LISTEN i appreciate.

Speaker 3 (42:11):
It thank, You.

Speaker 2 (42:11):
Billy we greatly appreciate. It and those are some really good.
Questions we talked about THE Nfl, draft AND i think
there's something to be said about the shield. Itself it's THE,
nfl it's the most popular. Sport and then when you
have some personalities As chad had mentioned who called in,
previously mal Kiper, junior those type of, individuals and then

(42:34):
you get the predictive. Measure it's almost like Bracketology march,
madness having the ability to predict who's going to advance
in the. Brackets and maybe there's something to be said
there with THE nfl, draft who is going to be that?
Guy BUT i do believe there's something to be said
about hope and the beginning of that if your team

(42:57):
is not that, good can they use the to get
that generational type of. Player and then ALSO i do
believe that there's something to be said about what THE
nfl has done and making it, personal taking it into
these different. Cities now you know for sure at least that,

(43:17):
community they're going to be much more. Engaged but there
is something just the totality of THE nfl draft and
we have so much, coverage we have so much, content
AND i think there's something to be said about that
that THE nfl they have understood how to capitalize and
how to engage the fan, bases AND i think that's

(43:38):
where some of these other leagues are missing.

Speaker 3 (43:40):
Out.

Speaker 2 (43:41):
Now some of it has to do with just the product,
itself and we've talked about how THE nfl ON, tv
it just lends itself beautifully as how it fits into the.
Screen and then when you start talking about THE, nfl
it's what drives the fans to create that, hope to
create that, dialogue to create these debates that, happen and

(44:07):
we can continue to talk about. That so there's something
about the content can be polarizing as, well because there's
fans that think that they have the best idea as
far as what their team needs versus what the general managers,
think what the coaches, think and then what some of
the pundits, think and that's what sparks those. Conversations and

(44:28):
anytime you have polarizing, content there's going to be more,
conversations there's going to be more.

Speaker 3 (44:33):
Eyeballs and now in.

Speaker 2 (44:34):
Today's, world we have that ability to stream, it the,
platforms to distribute it out there and get more fans.
Involved SO i think there's something behind. That but that
is a great question From. Billy we do appreciate. It
and Now april the twenty, Second, yes we do have
to walk back in a little bit of.

Speaker 3 (44:53):
History what happened on this.

Speaker 1 (44:56):
Day let's go back in history to the moments you
might have forgotten and the ones you'll never. Forget IT'S
otd on this.

Speaker 2 (45:05):
Day all, Right we're going to go all the way
back to eighteen seventy. Six, oh, yes eighteen seventy, six
the very first Official National League baseball game is played
With boston Beating philadelphia six to.

Speaker 3 (45:23):
Five, Oh boston.

Speaker 2 (45:24):
And philadelphia all the way back then nineteen, Fourteen Babe
ruth would play in his very first professional game and
it was a six, hit six to zero. Win and
the six, Hits, no he didn't have those. Hits he
was actually the. Pitcher he only allowed six. Hits Remember
Babe ruth started out as a. Pitcher nineteen fifty, four

(45:46):
THE nba would adopt the six team foul, rule and
also the twenty four second shot, clock and that changed
THE nba. FOREVER i know there's a lot of people
that talk about three point shot and most definitely that
changed basketball in, totality but THE hut clock in THE,

(46:06):
nba that definitely created a different type of. Scenario in
nineteen eighty, two The Atlanta braves would lose their first
game of the, season ending their record thirteen game winning
streak to start the. Season and in nineteen ninety The
Indianapolis colts Selected Jeff george as the number one overall pick.

(46:27):
Quarterback nineteen ninety, five the number one overall pick to
The Cincinnati bengals kajohna carter running back From Penn. State,
oh things have changed in THE nfl draft since. Then All,
right that IS otd and that is This tuesday edition
of The Richmond Weavers show presented By Ingles.

Speaker 3 (46:46):
Markets have a great. Afternoon we'll talk to you. Tomorrow
