Speaker 1 (00:01):
Exploring the latest headlines and in depth conversations. It's the
Richmond Weavers Show on one oh four nine Fox Sports
up State presented by Ingles Low Prices, Love the Savings
Now for richest take on sports. Here's Richmond Weaver.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Ready to roll this Monday right here on one oh
four nine Fox Sports Upstate. This is the Monday edition
of the Richmond Weavers Show, presented by Ingles Markets, and
we are live in studio looking out the beautiful skyline
here in downtown Greenville. We can actually see some mountains
out there. It's a beautiful day in the Upstate. This

(00:40):
is a nice spring day, even though we are getting
closer and closer to summer. As we are moving fast,
but we also are in full force, mister Trey Falco
behind the board and behind the mic as always. As
we are coming off of a weekend where we didn't
have NFL true discussions because NFL Draft is over now

(01:03):
and now teams are trying to figure out exactly how
those pieces are going to fit within their organization. We've
come off of the Shadoor Sanders comments and the talk
tracks all of that. Although I think we're still going
to consistently talk about Shador Sanders leading up to the season,
and then even more so in the season until he

(01:24):
takes his first snap.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Oh for sure.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
I think that's the storyline going into this offseason and
into the new season.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
It's got to be Shador. I can't think of anything else.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
I mean, that's going to be the number one thing
talked about, even more so than I think cam Ward
Tendensee Titans.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
They don't even talk about cam Ward when he got drafted.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
But well, of course, and that's going to be interesting
to see. But we're also getting closer and closer. We
will start talking some college football this summer. Oh yes,
of course, I know there's right now. NBA playoffs are
in full swing, and definitely looking forward to talking with
our good friend Jason Tempf of Hoops tonight. He'll be

(02:01):
joining us each and every Wednesday as he does, so
we'll look forward to breaking things down from the NBA
playoff perspective on Wednesday. But I do have to mention
just from this standpoint, Steph Curry the Golden State Warriors
and getting the big victory there in Game seven against
the Houston Rockets, and now they will face the Minnesota Timberwolves,

(02:22):
and I do love game sevens, and there's something to
be said about all of these game sevens that we're
starting to see, and even in NHL, you have game
sevens that are coming down to the wire, and especially
when you have a team like Winnipeg who scores two
goals and basically the last two minutes right to force

(02:42):
overtime and they win in double overtime. So I mean,
it's those type of things that we absolutely crave for
and love for in sports, and there's something significant about that.
And we also had the Kentucky Derby this past weekend. Yeah,
and apparently they're like record numbers of not only viewers
but also bets that were placed on the Kentucky Derby,

(03:05):
And we talked about it. Has the Kentucky Derby lost
some of its luster, But it seems like right now
that there's not a whole lot of drop off based
on some of the numbers that we're seeing. And I
did watch my wife and I we watched the Kentucky
Derby on Saturday.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Sloppy mess. I mean, it was crazy that they're.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Running in that type of environment with all of the
mud and everything.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
And I would have to say It is exciting.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
And I can only imagine if you had money on
oh Man, a particular horse and or particular horses, if
you're playing a parlay or whatever it might be. But
that's why I don't lay money down, because you get
so invested in so many different ways, and I definitely
do not like losing money. But I can see the

(03:54):
excitement just I didn't have any money in it, and
I'm just excited to watch a finish like that, regardless
of it, regardless if it's a human trying to finish
an animal. I mean, it's amazing how the competitive spirit
and how much as human beings.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
We just love it.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
I was gonna say it goes back to something that
we've talked about before, and the most I would say,
the most basic, the most simplest form of entertainment, the
most simplest sport there is, and that's running.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
What did you do when you were a kid? I
bet I can beat you to that tree fashion. That's it.
That's that's human.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
That is almost like prehistoric, yes, that I can imagine
in the Stone Age. It's hey, I can throw this
farther in you yep, And I can run faster than you.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
That's the basic form of competition and it's been around
since the world began. Oh yes, there's something to be
said about human beings and how we just relish in
those type of situations. As always, we want you to
join the conversation. Eight six' four two four zero five
four eight. Zero again that numbers eight six four two

(05:02):
four zero five to four eight. Zero so we do
have some other things to talk. About Scotti scheffler got.
Hot oh, yeah we talked about it's been a long
time since he's been able to have a victory on
THE Pga tour and he did it in record, fashion
and so it's something that we'll talk about also and
start looking at some of the games in THE nba

(05:24):
playoffs tonight With game ones and how that's going to shape.
Out BUT i did want to talk about something that
caught my, eye and it was in THE. Nba it
Was Greg, popovich and we talked about that he's stepping
down as The San Antonio spurs head, coach longtime head,
coach AND i heard the individuals talking About Greg popovic

(05:49):
and how his name is synonymous with The San Antonio.
Spurs oh, right and there's no question when you think
About Greg, popovich you immediately think about The San Antonio,
spurs and almost even vice. Versa oh, yeah you think
about The San Antonio, spurs you think About Greg. Popovitch
now you can Also Attim duncan monogenobly of those type of,

(06:13):
Players David, robinson even A Kawhi leonard short period of
time there relative To kawhi's. Career and it started making me, think,
though because this is interesting that there are certain, players
there are certain, coaches there are certain, teams whatever it might,

(06:34):
be are synonymous with somebody, else or the team is
synonymous with a player or a coach or vice, versa
that player or that.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Coach is synonymous with the.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Team so it made me think about what are some
of the most synonymous combos out. There that's a good
one that we, have and you, know and it's interesting
the psychology that goes into, that because whether we associate
a player with a team or a team with a
player or, coach whatever it, IS i do think there's

(07:11):
some factors that go into.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
It is it career length and, exclusivity is it the team?

Speaker 2 (07:17):
History is it the coach and player influence not only
from a winning, perspective but even just looking at like
a college, perspective, RIGHT i mean there's something to be.
Said yes it's about, winning but the longevity of that
coach with a or a player with a particular. Team
so there's all types of scenarios that go into. It

(07:40):
and it just made me, think, Though, okay let's let's
take a look at some of the legends that are
synonymous synonymous with their, team and there's you can easily
start going down the, list and these are the ones
that just popped up into my head. Initially AND i
want to hear, yours tray okay again and we probably

(08:03):
are going to have a lot of the SAME i,
think so, yeah, Yes so for, me you know Where
i'm going first as a basketball, guy as a guy
who believes the goat is one particular guy that war
number twenty three in red and.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Black.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Yeah WHEN i think Of Michael, JORDAN i think Of Chicago.
Bulls WHEN i think of The Chicago, BULLS i think
Of Michael. Jordan and it's pretty. SIMPLE i don't know
if you have to explain much more than. That SIX nba,
titles five, MVPs ten scoring, Titles Air, jordan, Yep you
can't Picture Air jordan without picturing The Chicago.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
Bulls that's just the reality of, it.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
Right AND i think we'll also see a little bit
of a theme in some of these And jordan is
a really good example of.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
This obviously played for The. Bulls great for The, bulls but.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
He came back he played for The. Wizards, OH i,
know we don't talk about. That we don't think about The.
Wizards there are people here that maybe went on to
coach a different team for a short, tenure or went
on and played for another team for a short tenure or.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
Whatever but for some, reason there's there's that one.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
Organization maybe that's the organization that they made the biggest impact.
ON i don't, Know but In jordan's, case it's The.
Bulls you don't think about him with any other team or.
Anything he went out and played. Baseball you don't think
About jordan and.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Baseball, no you do. Not, now you might think Of
jordan And North.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Carolina that's, true just because he was, there won a
national championship as a, freshman and is associated with the
game winning shot all of. That but at the end
of the, day it's when you Think Michael jordan you
think of HIS nba, Career, yes and THAT nba career
with The chicago Bull, yes there's something to be said about.

(09:42):
That but a player that SOMETIMES i think will get.
Overlooked and this is a little bit down the. List
i've got some other. Ones but you talked about what
team is associated with this, player even though he might
spend other years right with another, team and That's Brett, oh,
yes but The Green Bay. Packers he spent time with

(10:04):
The New York, jets. Right what about The Minnesota? Vikings,
oh so close to really getting them over the hump
there in the playoffs getting to the Super, bowl not
for an interception that he. Had but when you think
Of Brett, farv you think of The Green Bay packers
right exactly. NOW i don't know if you think of
The Green Bay. Packers do you think Of Brett?

Speaker 4 (10:24):
Farv THOUGH i think RECENTLY i Think Vince Lombardi That,
Okay Vince lombardi is a great. One AND i also, think,
like if you're thinking just purely, QUARTERBACK i feel like
recency bias would Be Aaron rodgers because he's the most,
recent he's still playing and he's kind of making That
brett farv round and.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
One of The.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
Jets now he's what is he gonna try and go
to The? Vikings? Like it's comical in that. Way but
to your, point, Yeah Vince, Lombardi yeah you Think Packers?
Lombardy you, think no, Question at LEAST i, do just
from a.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Perspective he seems to personify The Green Bay packers. Organization all,
Right so somebody who who personifies an? Organization and this
is an interesting because this will go down two different
pathways here because we are already having this type of.
Debate The New England. Patriots, yes who do you think?

Speaker 6 (11:14):
Of?

Speaker 3 (11:14):
First do you think Of Tom? Brady do you think
Of Bill?

Speaker 2 (11:18):
Belichick and WAS i just biased by Saying Tom brady
first Versus Bill?

Speaker 4 (11:22):
BELICHICK i don't, KNOW i personally for me and maybe
it's just a testament to his, Coaching BUT i immediately
WHEN i Hear, PATRIOTS i Think Bill. BELICHICK i, too
As Tom brady was and is as.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
A, quarterback it's belly goat of all, quarterbacks AND i
think he's the goat in THE. Nfl but WHEN i
think of The New England, PATRIOTS i think Of Bill belichick.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
First, Yes AND i don't know why that.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Is other than the fact THAT i, mean it's hard
to argue he was the mastermind behind the dynasty and
he had that, persona you, know with the cutoff of the.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Hoodie you, know.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
All of that seventeen straight winning, seasons do your job,
mantra you, know all of those, things just scream Of
Bill belichick and the press, conferences you, know so many
of those. Things AND i wonder If Tom brady wouldn't
have had success with The Tampa Bay buccaneers and getting
Another Super, bowl would that have been viewed? Differently would

(12:25):
you view it more Of Tom? BRADY i still don't
know IF i. WOULD i still THINK i would view
The patriots As Bill.

Speaker 4 (12:33):
Belichick, YEAH i THINK i would. Too and that's a
funny thing you bring up With Tom. Brady this is
another player that when you think Of Tom, brady you
think of The. Patriots you don't think he went won
a Super bowl with another. Team he took him to
the ultimate, mountaintop the. Pinnacle he did it with another.
Team how really think about?

Speaker 3 (12:51):
It, no we.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Don't we continue to talk about was it him ye
Or Bill belichick for the success of The?

Speaker 3 (12:59):
Patriots chicken or the?

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Egg, yes we don't talk enough About Tom brady and
him actually going to The Tampa Bay.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Buccaneers, right all, right here's another one THAT i have
in THE.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Nfl and it's interesting these quarterback scenarios because WHEN i.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
Think Of Joe, MONTANA.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
I think of The San francisco forty nine, ers, RIGHT
i do not think of The Kansas City chiefs. Whatsoever
AND i would almost say that part of, me WHEN
i think of The San francisco forty nine, ERS i
think Of Joe, montana, right more so THAN i do
like A Bill walsh or A Jerry. Rice and maybe

(13:38):
the end of the, day we're also biased because the quarterback.
Position so that's something within, itself you know what triggers
the psychology of us to associate a player with a
team or a team with a player and potentially based
on their, position, right because my first thought.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Would, be, oh, well typically.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
You would go maybe maybe they won a lot, there
or maybe that's where they won Their Super bowl or.
Whatever but you just cover With Tom, brady he went
from The. Patriots obviously he won a lot more Super
bowls with The patriots than he did with The Tampa Bay.
Buccaneers but he still went to The buccaneers and played
at an elite, level and we still don't think About Tampa.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Bay so it can't be just, oh, well they.

Speaker 4 (14:20):
WON i don't know if it's maybe a larger than,
life like like if you think About Bill, Belichick belichick
with The, patriots it's his. Personality it's that like like
he's he's there's almost a mystique about, it, right and
and that carries and that sits with, you and there's
a gravitas to that same thing with the quarterback. Position
maybe maybe there's this this larger than LIFE i don't,

(14:40):
know or maybe it's just who you grew up on you.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
THINK i think there's definitely part of it who you
grew up on as a. Kid and ALSO i do
think there's something about personalities and that it. Factor, yes
because WHEN i think of The Los Angeles, LAKERS i
do not And i'm sorry to say, THIS i do
not think Of kobe even though he had mendous success
with The, lakers five, championships all of.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
That but WHEN i think of THE La, LAKERS i
don't even think Of.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
KAREEM i think Of Magic, johnson, right because of the
factor Of Magic johnson being out there The lakers show.

Speaker 3 (15:15):
Time you know all of.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
That and he was a point, guard, right you, know
so he was the guy, distributing he was the guy
getting people in their.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Offense you know all of. That and he was the
fun loving type of.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
Guy so personality does play a part into, this especially
when you're looking at a uh a player that is
associated with a team more than a. COACH i think
there's something to be said about. That let us know
your thoughts, though join this. Conversation eight six four two
four zero five four eight. Zero do you have any

(15:50):
synonymous players or coaches with a team and vice. Versa
let's head out to The engles hot line right, now
The Richmond weavers.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
Show who's this?

Speaker 7 (15:58):
Great what's going?

Speaker 1 (15:59):
On?

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Man It's chad of, Course chad The Bending. King how

Speaker 7 (16:04):

chime in, in, man what about Old DABO E cliffs and
man take The. Cliffson you gotta make A davo and no.

Speaker 6 (16:17):
Question and, also, man This nascar, man you see the St,
sex you automatically think Of Richard face the number three
good rights.

Speaker 7 (16:28):
Man you're going straight Darn, hard that's. Right And gordon
And lose And john and the home.

Speaker 6 (16:35):
D pott And Tony, stewart.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
That's, right all? Right So, chad who's the for?

Speaker 2 (16:42):
You who do you associate more than any other team
or player or? Coach who do you think of? First
when you're, Like, okay that's an automatic scenario that those
two are matched.

Speaker 7 (16:57):
Together, Man i'm probably just gonna go back to. Racing,
man probably Earned hard a number? Three, MAN i. Automatic
HAVE i ever seen the word Good rich or seen
the number? Three my mind instantly, goes Aren't?

Speaker 5 (17:11):
Hard?

Speaker 7 (17:11):
Yeah every single.

Speaker 5 (17:13):
Time, man it's hard to argue that.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
Years, yeah which that's crazy in itself right.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
There that just shows you again the impact that these
personalities have.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
REGARDLESS i, mean look at.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
That that's not even A i, MEAN i know you
can say there's a team there WITH, nascar and they
technically are, teams you, know would you include the pit
crew all of, That but that's just a racer and a, number,
yep that you associate. With but because he, dominated because
he was the, intimidator you, know he had that persona

(17:48):
there's something in the psychology that we just immediately associate
that number to that racer and then to that racer to.

Speaker 7 (17:58):
Greatness, NOW i, MEAN i want you On jordans And. Bulls,
MAN i see The bulls automatically think Of jordan And
montana was my hero back in the. DAYS i still
got a little self spot For montana and the forty nine.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
Ers there's something to be said about. THAT i totally understand.
That And, chad we do appreciate the, call my. Friend
you call any time and have a safe time out.
THERE i know you're driving Around chad The Vinnie.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
King thank, you.

Speaker 7 (18:25):
Sir we'll do, rich we'll be turned in AND i
all the, lease.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
Yes, sir and anybody else that wants to join the.
Conversation eight six four two four zero five four eight.
Zero again that number is eight six four two four
zero five four eight. Zero and trying to come up
with some of the more popular synonymous, player.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
Team or coach. Rankings again we.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Go we've gone through some of the easy, ones like
The Michael jordan's Of Tom, bradys and there's some that
we really.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
Haven't for, ME i Still Dallas.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
COWBOYS i think If Tom, landry oh, yeah AND i
know it's easy to again look At Jimmy johnson because
of the. Success but for, ME i think that's part
of the growing. Up RIGHT i was a, kid it
Was Tom landry and The fedora hat with The Dallas,
cowboys and then maybe even you, know A roger. Stallback but,

(19:19):
now as do, people when you think About Indianapolis, colts
do you immediately think About Peyton?

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Manning that's WHAT i mean me just BECAUSE i grew
up With Peyton.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
Manning, yeah as a, Quarterback that's WHAT i think of
any TIME i think Of indianapolis.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
Calls that's.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
RIGHT i think there's something to be said about. That
and even looking at THE, nhl AND i know this
the great. One he had a lot of success with
The La. Kings but when you think Of Wayne, GRETZKY
i first immediately think of The Edmonton, Oilers, right that's.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
IT i don't even.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
Think about his time with The, kings you, Know so
there's something to be said about. That all, Right we'll
head out to The Ingles hotline real quick one more
time before we take this.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
Break The Richmond Weaver. Show who's this.

Speaker 8 (19:59):
RICH i love? THIS i love. This, okay they're gonna
play a quick. Game you tell me When i've got
to get off, There i'll hang up and. Listen but
first first, Franchise pittsburgh steelis who do you think of?

Speaker 5 (20:09):
You both of you.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
Guys i'm, young SO i immediately Think roethlisberger.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
Personally, yeah you, KNOW i think Of Terry bradshaw to.

Speaker 8 (20:18):
SEE i think it's got to BE i think this
is going to correlate with when he was growing. UP
i think Of. Bradshaw i'm with, you, Yep, Okay Dallas,
cowboys you, Said, lane that's the first ONE i think.
Of who's the first person you think of as a
player when you think of The? Cowboys?

Speaker 3 (20:32):
UH i think Of Roger. Stallbach me.

Speaker 8 (20:35):
Too and if you start getting, LATER i, SAY i
would Say Troy. A.

Speaker 5 (20:39):
Yes how about?

Speaker 8 (20:40):
You Uh, TREY i get, well it's.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
Twofold since you said, player it's a little bit. Different
now my first off Was Jerry. Jones but that's. Negative. Yeah,
yeah but Again i'm. Younger I'm Dak.

Speaker 4 (20:53):
Prescott LIKE i Hear Dallas, cowboys AND i immediately in
my HEAD i, hear, yeah.

Speaker 8 (20:57):
Here we, Go, okay now let's do some. College Now
i'm not talking ABOUT i THINK i think that that
uh sad was. RIGHT i Think dado was Synonymous now With,
clinton he's Past Danny. Ford let's talk about. Players, okay
who do you think of when you think Of clinton? Football?
Rich as far as the, Player.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
Oh, wow that's a good, one.

Speaker 8 (21:23):
Man i'm gonna go First Allen.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
Okay, yeah and he was there WHEN i was a student. There,
yeah SO i that Is that is a good. ONE
i probably would go with The Fridge William. Perry that's uh,
initially but there's also part of Me i'm still torn
on the. Uh the guy who had the second national
championship For clemson at, quarterback and That's Deshaun. WATSON i

(21:49):
still think Of Deshaun.

Speaker 8 (21:51):
Watson, ALSO i would think people in their twenties or,
thirty but think of Either lawrence Or. Watson how about, You,
trey who do you think of when you think Of
plinton football? Player?

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Yeah my first thought would have been Either watson Or Trevor.

Speaker 8 (22:02):
Lawrence, yep that's WHAT i would have. Figured, Okay South,
CAROLINA i think we're probably gonna agree on, this, Uh,
rich but we'll. See the first THING i think of
Is Connor, Shaw, yes.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
Exactly And i've had him on my podcast and he's absolutely.
Tremendous SO i Think i'm biased because of that BECAUSE
i have a personal connection With. Connor, so, yes that's
exactly WHO i would think.

Speaker 8 (22:23):
Of how about, You, TREY i don't, know that's.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
A, yeah that's the other one THAT i would think.
Of would be Either George rogers Or.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
Clowney clowny is a good.

Speaker 8 (22:33):
One, Yeah clowney is a good. One, yes you know.
WHAT i think there's a caveat of. This it's seeming
able what happens in the next year or. Two sailors
is gonna be it's gonna be how that lives if
he continues to win the way he. Has, YEAH i
think this is an interesting. Conversation i'm with. You Tom
brady Is New, england you.

Speaker 3 (22:51):
Know Not.

Speaker 8 (22:52):
Belichick he would be. Second and THEN i also would
agree That Joe montande is the forty nine. Ers, Anyway
i'll hang up and, listen. GUYS i appreciate, you. Guys
IS i love that?

Speaker 3 (23:00):
Topic, yeah thank?

Speaker 5 (23:01):
You quick.

Speaker 8 (23:02):
Thing The. LAKERS i agree with you About Magic johnson
And kareema this first and, SECOND i don't think of
the two Thousand Showtime. LAKERS i think of the Eighties Showtime.
Lakers and if you think about The Boston, celtics who
do you think About Larry bird and that? Era, Anyway
i'll hang up and.

Speaker 5 (23:17):
Listen.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
Guys thank, You, Billy we do appreciate, that and anybody
else joined the.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
Conversation we're going to take this, break but we'll.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
Continue this conversation about some of the most synonymous figures
in sports with their program or maybe the program with
that player or. Coach much more of This monday edition
of The Richmond Weaver show presented By Ingles.

Speaker 3 (23:37):
Markets right after this.

download that through the app store or On Google, play

Nine Fox sports so you can find the station and
put it in your preset. Button that's, Right it's that.
Easy and you can also do that with some of
your favorite podcasts as, well so easypas and the best
part of, it The iHeartRadio app is, free so make

(24:24):
sure you go check that.

Speaker 3 (24:25):
Out we do HAVE Nba action.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
Tonight we have two game ones as The nicks and
The celtics get ready to turn things up seven pm ON,
tnt and then to follow nine thirty pm it's The
nuggets and The thunder also ON. Tnt and this is
coming off of the heels of The nuggets getting the

(24:50):
victory there against THE La clippers In game, seven and
The joker just continuing to showcase just how good he.
Is AND i think that's one of the storylines when
you're looking at this UNDER.

Speaker 3 (25:06):
I shouldn't say.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
UNDERRATED i got to be very careful Because jokic is not, underrated,
yes but it's the stats and the things that.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
He, does not. Flashy he's not flashy.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Yees so that's what's so interesting is that In round
one he averaged a triple double for the third time
in his career in a playoff, series twenty four points per,
game almost twelve rebounds per, game ten assists per, game
and he is the only player IN nba history to

(25:40):
average a triple double in a seven game.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
Series oh, yes we dive into.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
Some of the crazy, stats some of the data out,
there And, kain it doesn't always tell a. Story we
talk about, that but you can't deny this type of
impact For.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
Jokic, Yes AND i THINK i think the big thing
is IS i get what you're saying when you talk
about you're wanting to use the word.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
UNDERRATED i think not even under.

Speaker 4 (26:08):
Underappreciated it might be the WAY i look at it
is like you look at other teams and you've got
the players with like the flash you look.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
Like Ant, man you Look Anthony. Lays you, know it's
a totally different.

Speaker 4 (26:18):
Place whereas Like, jokic he's not here really doing anything,
flashy Although i've seen him hit a couple of like
full court shots which have been. Insane but he is
the glue to this, team AND i think that's just
as important as any of your flashy, plays any of
your highlight reel. Stuff joker's not gonna make a whole
lot of highlight reels with what he, does but.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
He is so integral to what this team. Does he
is The. Nuggets he is The.

Speaker 2 (26:42):
Nuggets but it's interesting and, again now are there certain teams,
also as we're having the conversation about soon being synonymous
with a, team, right who's associated with the team or
what team is associated with a player or a Coach
and it can go both, ways and that's what's very. Interesting,

(27:04):
so but do you think Because jokic doesn't have somewhat
of the it factor and he does out on the
court and he's his own, PERSONA i, mean you, know
he's he's that guy that all of, Us, yes, exactly that's.
Right but when you think Of, jokic do you automatically

(27:27):
think of The nuggets or when you think of The,
nuggets do you automatically think Of yokic only in the
sense of how much do we actually even really.

Speaker 3 (27:38):
Talk about The?

Speaker 2 (27:39):
Nuggets they have won AN nba, Championship but do we
view Them they're not viewed the same as The. Lakers
they're not viewed as the same as The, bulls even
The bulls have been relevant in a long, time or The,
celtics or EVEN i would say even The Miami heat
to a certain degree because they've had some star power

(27:59):
come through. There so there is that side of it
too that some of these, organizations when do they get
over that. Hump as far as the relevancy and how
much we talk about, them.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
That's a good point to your.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
Question me, PERSONALLY i think, like WHEN i think of The,
NUGGETS i think Of. Joker BUT i don't know THAT
i necessarily think of The nuggets WHEN i think Of,
joker which is kind of an odd way to put,
it BUT i think A joker.

Speaker 3 (28:26):
And i'm, like, oh it's star, Player like he's really.
Great he's great at what he.

Speaker 4 (28:29):
DOES i don't think about The nuggets in that, Capacity
but IF i think about The, Nuggets i'm, like, oh,
well it's my first guy THAT i go. To is
jokicen how well he? Plays AND i also, wonder, too
with the prevalence of social media and the way everything
is marketed, nowadays would it be harder or easier to
build that type of connection in today's age where you

(28:49):
think of, like, oh.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
Well Michael, jordan he's with the.

Speaker 4 (28:53):
Bulls is that also because of not only how great he,
was but the type of coverage that he.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
Received in the fact that you couldn't really get.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
More information around, you you didn't have such an influx
of information coming at you and telling, You, hey this
that the, OTHER i wonder if it's maybe a little
more difficult to build that type of connection brand connection
in today's.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
Age, Yes So i'm curious about that because that is very.
Interesting and we've talked about several times where you there
was all this there's almost this mystique around certain celebrities
and athletes in, particular because there wasn't twenty four to seven. Content,
yes and so when you saw, content when you read

(29:33):
an article or you saw a news promo or whatever it,
was you were glued to, it, yes and you were
engaged with. It and now there's so much. Content But
i'm wondering also there has to be something that today's
social media is helping be able to create some of,

(29:53):
that and one in, Particular i'm just this Is i'm
curious because there's also the time that it takes to become.
Synonymous because right, now and this is a, generality this is.
Not so this is what's, Interesting And I'M i, Know i'm, like,
okay hurry, up get to. It tell me what what

(30:14):
are you talking?

Speaker 3 (30:15):
About all? Right so what about this? Example, okay women's,
Basketball oh, well who do you think Of.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
It's got to be recency, Biased but my initial, thought
maybe it's all the social media coverage and.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
Everything Kaitlyn, Clark Kaylyn. Clark, yeah It's Kaitlyn. Clark she's
in the face of it right. Now, Yes And i'm a.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
Guy who's been following basketball for a long time and
even women's. Basketball but WHEN i think of women's, BASKETBALL
i don't think initially now Of Pat. SUMMIT i don't
think of you, know A Cheryl miller or you know
a superb Or Diane, tarassi you, know or any of.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
Those right, now IT'S i think of women's. Basketball Is
Kaitlyn clark a great?

Speaker 2 (30:55):
Example and that's coming off of just this weekend where
we Saw Caitlyn clark and hitting basically a sixty foot,
shot you, KNOW i mean it was just.

Speaker 3 (31:04):
Insane maybe not that.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
Long but the point is is that this is a
player who is, come i, mean hit the scene like a. Storm,
yes the surge Of Caitlin clark has been phenomenal because
she's been so dominant and she's been so. Spectacular so
there's something about how quickly somebody burst on the.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
Scene oh, yeah and part of.

Speaker 2 (31:28):
That has to be associated with social media and the
coverage one hundred pe that we get right, now so
there's something to. That join the conversation eight six' four
two four zero five four eight zero and let's head
out To the eagles outline right Now The richmond.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
Weavers show?

Speaker 5 (31:43):
Who's, this Hey it's janere or how you doing?

Speaker 3 (31:47):
Doing? Fantastic hey did You?

Speaker 5 (31:48):
Say?

Speaker 8 (31:48):
Jay?

Speaker 3 (31:49):
Yes, sir yes thank you? For callings or what's on?

Speaker 5 (31:52):
Your mind appreciate, you know. IT'S funny. I was i
was immediately when you said, women's BASKETBALL like i don't
know anything ABOUT but, I Mean cheryl miller is the
only name that came to. My Mind pat summit, should
have But But cheryl miller was certainly the number one
that came to. My mind i'm going to show my
age with a couple. Of these BUT when I Say,
cincinnati bengals who do?

Speaker 3 (32:10):
You, Think, OH cincinnati i either Think Of sam Wish Or. Boomer, wow.

Speaker 5 (32:17):
OKAY okay i go Immediately To munio's.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
Oh, yes YES yes, I could, I could i could fall, into, YES.

Speaker 5 (32:25):
Yeah i mean he just for, Whatever Reason anthony munos
Is The. Cincinnati BENGALS that's i mean that that has
always been the, immediate right. YOU know i go to
Guys Like lawrence taylor And, the GIANTS and i think
that that's. An automatic you KNOW what I, THINK giants
i think lt you know YOUR your Mj. AND magic

(32:46):
i would agree, with those, YOU know i think when
it Comes, to boston, YOU know i look At, the
celtics and that one's a tough one for me because,
YOU know i go a couple of, different directions but
it always Comes To, bird yeah, YOU know i mean
IT just i can't go anywhere else With, the. Celtics

(33:06):
right i'm trying, to think like when when you go To,
the yankees you know who automatically pops in? Your, HEAD well,
i mean, you know depending on, your age it's gonna
be one of six or eight. DIFFERENT guys, i mean,
you know it's tough to say that one, is Synonymous
but i'll tell you the ONE that i THAT that,
i mean it's it's more of a joke than, ANYTHING else.

(33:27):
I guess BUT when i think Of The, denver nuggets
OR when i think Of the, NUGGETS period i immediately
Think Of. Andy reid that's that's the automatic. For me,
you know he loves.

Speaker 3 (33:38):
Those nuggets, well, done sir, Well. Done, jay yeah that's
that's one of.

Speaker 5 (33:44):
My favors but, YOU know i mean there are so,
many guys you, know, Hockey RIGHT if I Say, la
kings who do?

Speaker 1 (33:50):
You?

Speaker 2 (33:50):
Think, yeah well THAT'S where i was TORN because i
do not initially Think Of wayne gretzky WITH The.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
La, kings, REALLY yes I think i think Of.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
Gret sky more With The, edmonton oilers but. You Can't
if i'm going, to say if you SAY L, a kings,
THEN yes i am immediately going To Say, wayne GRETZKY
but i still associate him more With.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
The, oilers well and YOU know i would Go.

Speaker 5 (34:15):
J r With. THE blackhawks i mean. THAT'S yeah i
can't not Think Of jeremy ronick when you think. Of Them.
That's lewis, YOU know i immediately Go TO keith.

Speaker 3 (34:27):
I can i can definitely see, the guys.

Speaker 5 (34:29):
But those are those are the COUPLE that i thought.

Speaker 2 (34:31):
Of, anyway yeah and we Think Of. MARIO emu i
mean You're, THINKING pingkins i. MEAN immediately i mean that's
the reality.

Speaker 5 (34:37):
Of it but when You, think penguins do you automatically Go?

Speaker 3 (34:41):
TO mario i don't KNOW if. I do i'm.

Speaker 5 (34:44):
NOT sure I mean i kind of think That that
Sydney might.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
Sidney might, have yeah has. Surpassed him and that's the other.

Speaker 2 (34:51):
Interesting point, jay's like when does somebody pass somebody else
like a and even looking, college football we just Talked
About dabbo Swing, at clemson but what about Like It
Alabama bear Bryant Versus.

Speaker 5 (35:04):
Nick. Saban, yeah well and that's that's the difficult part
of your of, your question right BECAUSE there's, i mean
there's hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people who have
blown through all of these, different organizations and, you know
you can, have, six, seven, eight Nine Ten Perennial, all, stars.
Yes potentially, you know you've got guys who's guys and

(35:27):
gals who's, you know jerseys are hanging from the raptors
and there's a lot, of them. You know but at the,
same time what you're asking isn't who's a great player
that used to PLAY. For x what you're asking is
whose name is synonymous when you think of, those colors
when you think of, that logo when you think of.
Those teams, you KNOW when I when I Say, gallas
cowboys who do you go? To, instantly yes it's.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
Only, one NAME say i Still Go tom LANDRY though.
I do that's just from my Upbringing Or, roger, Stallback
OKAY and.

Speaker 5 (35:58):
I mean either one of those guys would be, at.
SALUTE right, I mean I Think jerry jones was the
GUY that i went, to Automatically, And jay.

Speaker 2 (36:06):
I'm trying to say positive on the, Show, here jerry
but we're.

Speaker 5 (36:13):
Not, thinking again the question is about who do? You
like who do you? Not like it's who's synonymous with,
that TEAM and i mean it's it's that's, YOU know
i go To the seahawks and this is this is
gonna mess you up because this one does not deserve to,
be IT but i can't. Help IT when I, THINK
seahawks i Immediately Think. TYLER lockett i don't.

Speaker 3 (36:31):
Know why, Oh Wow. Tyler lockett, that's interesting.

Speaker 5 (36:36):
But that's the name that comes UP when i think
of Of, the seahawks. You know and of COURSE when
i Think Of, tyler lockett that's the ONLY thing i
think of Is. The SEAHAWKS so i mean it's it's
you know a little, bit, DIFFERENT right, i mean How
About tony gwenn And The.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
Padres, Padres yes AND when i Think Of, tony GWENN
immediately i think of the greatest hitter in all, of
baseball and then it's He's The San. Diego padres so
it's almost INTERESTING that i think of what he was
more so first than who he.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
Played For, Ozzie smith, OH yeah i mean.

Speaker 2 (37:11):
Obviously, THE cardinals i mean the Greatest, short yeah.

Speaker 5 (37:15):
YOU know, i mean there's there's so many of these
guys that, you know, all right they're, all stars they're,
they're superheroes they're they're, you know the best of the
best of. The best but the automatically put, them together,
You Know. TOM brady, I mean I'm a, chiefs FAN
so i have a tough time with. This one but
today there are people who Will Say tom brady is

(37:36):
the best quarterback that's ever played. THE game i don't,
believe it but people will. SAY it i Don't Think
tom BRADY when i think Of The Tampa. Bay, buccaneers,
NO yeah i.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
DON'T either, i mean it.

Speaker 5 (37:46):
Just that's not what comes to. MY mind i immediately
go linebacker. AND bom, i mean it's it's there are
just so many different players that have met so much to.
Their organizations but how are you going to pick one
guy from, you Know The. Milwaukee bucks. You can't. You,
can't yeah you Know, THE lakers, i mean you know

(38:08):
The yan you just. You CAN'T so I mean i
think that when you start having, this conversation you really
need to talk about some of those, you know outside the.
Lines folks RIGHT if I say cincinnati redsch who's the
only name that comes to? Your Mind pete, rose, automatically
yes m it doesn't matter that that's not. The question

(38:28):
but you have to Go to pete.

Speaker 3 (38:30):
You, do yeah. No, Question, well jay we got to.
Hit this we appreciate the.

Speaker 2 (38:35):
Phone call you, call, Anytime sir, thank you, well done
and anybody else that wants to join the CONVERSATION because
i can tell we've got some thoughts. On, this yeah,
oh yeah because it is not easy to. Break Down
as jay's. Talking about it's not again about who, you
liked who, you know it's just and that's a, Great,
point yes it's it's just what hits. You first and

(38:56):
even like talking, about colors we were even talking. About
it do you Think Of tiger Woods It's Sunday. Red,
YEP no i mean that's just the reality. Of it
and so it's amazing how the mind associates certain things
with a player or. A team but you can join
the conversation eight six four two four zero five four.
Eight zero we're back right after this break eight six

(39:17):
four triple seven ninety five. Ninety, three again the text
line is eight six four triple seven ninety five. Ninety
three if you're not able to, call in but you
want to jump in this conversation right here On this
monday edition Of The Richmond, weavers show Presented By, ingles
markets about, synonymous, players coaches or whoever it might be

(39:39):
with the team and. Vice versa because THE more i thought,
about it With The, dallas cowboys it is so easy
To Say jerry jones now he's made himself that. He
has And again i'm tongue in, cheeks, Saying hey i'm
trying to keep things POSITIVE because I Think jerry jones
has done some negative Things, with dallas but overall he's

(40:01):
done a lot of positive things Because The dallas cowboys
are still relevant and they haven't even, won, anything right,
and Now A dallas, cowboys fan BUT and i can attest, To,
that Hey The dallas cowboys still get. Talked about and
some of it has to do With Because jerry jones.
Is involved from a, brand perspective. THEY'RE dominant i don't
think there's. Anything bigger they still move. The needle and as,

(40:24):
we've joked Like At, tiger woods he is, the needle
you know when you're looking at, golf coverage and somewhat
to a, LESSER degree, i Mean The dallas cowboys are not.
The NEEDLE the nfl is. The needle we do, know
that But The dallas cowboys consistently move.

Speaker 5 (40:41):
The needle.

Speaker 2 (40:41):
All right we do HAVE again nba action that is
going to be, going on but we also had some
other games, that happen and so we'll catch that up
in the.

Speaker 3 (40:51):
Latest headlines it's only, one game.

Speaker 1 (40:55):
And that's to take care of men hitting the. Latest
headlines it's the, daily rundown.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
All right we talked About the warriors getting their victory
last NIGHT one o three to eighty nine Over The
houston Rockets in game seven on. The road veteran teams
can win on, the road even In a, game Seven
As steph Curry And buddy heald who had thirty.

Speaker 3 (41:20):
Three points in.

Speaker 2 (41:20):
That Game but i'm, Telling You draymond green set the
tone early in, this game especially on the, defensive Side
getting houston out of their offensive sets and just getting
them in a little bit. Of chaos and THEN also
i could tell early on watching, That Game draymond green

(41:41):
hit two three pointers early in.

Speaker 3 (41:44):
That game and that's a Sign If draymond green's hit
three pointers.

Speaker 2 (41:48):
Like that and again you look at, His career he's
hit many more than, you, think right but, You're, like okay. Something's,
clicking yeah they're, on tonight Even though steph was not
On normal. Steph perspective but we Also had game one
In The Eastern conference semifinals With the pacers and the
number One Seed, cleveland cavaliers And the Pacers With tyrese

(42:10):
haliburton get, the, victory Yes without tyrese's dad in, attendance there.

Speaker 3 (42:16):
But they get the victory one twenty one to.

Speaker 2 (42:18):
One twelve so that's a big win For The indiana
pacers As the Cavaliers And donovan mitchell trying to, Figure,
out okay what? Happens next, all right how about this IN.
The nfl we did hear. The news we know in
twenty twenty SIX The nfl draft is Going, to PITTSBURGH
which i know you're, excited.

Speaker 3 (42:35):
About Yes.

Speaker 2 (42:36):
Mister falco but in twenty, twenty SEVEN The nfl draft Going,
to WASHINGTON.

Speaker 3 (42:40):
D c that's.

Speaker 2 (42:41):
Pretty cool they're At The national mall right there At The.
WASHINGTON monument i think it. IS brilliant i think it
is absolutely fantastic that they're choosing not only The, site WASHINGTON,
d c but even more so just that it's there

(43:01):
At The, national Mall because i've spent time THERE when
i Lived in maryland and would go Recruiting, INTO washington
dc and would spend time just going on a jog
there Through The.

Speaker 3 (43:13):
NATIONAL mall, I mean i absolutely.

Speaker 2 (43:15):
Love it and as a, HISTORY guy I mean i'm
running around and thinking about all of. The HISTORY so
i love this idea WITH. The NFL what i think
from a, marketing standpoint it's. Beyond genius What's more american?
Than football, OF course i mean that's what. Right now
it is dominating so many things that we're, talking ABOUT right,
i mean that's it's consistently on, OUR, mind nfl. College

(43:37):
football yet whatever, it is it's the two biggest sports
in All of america. Right now and speaking of, college
football how. About this michigan is expected to give Head
Coach sharon moore a two game ban based on the
investigation Into the connor stallions situation as far as. Sign

(43:57):
Stealing so michigan trying to be ahead of, the curve
be preemptive here and hoping THAT the, Ncaa, says okay
you've already done the self, imposed ban but the suspensions
will be against the week three Opponent and week, four
opponent Which Is central Michigan.

Speaker 3 (44:19):
And nebraska. Oh okay well, so yeah so it's.

Speaker 2 (44:22):
Interesting that they're going to try to pick and choose
who they want from. That perspective. All, right also, real
Quick The. Kentucky derby we did talk about how this
was the uh one of the. Biggest, viewed yeah actually
it was the Most Watched kentucky derby since nineteen, eighty
nine average seventeen point seven million VIEWERS, on nbc up

(44:46):
from six percent from. Last year, so yes people are still.
Watching it, all right we will wrap Up this monday
Edition Of The Richmond weaver show Presented By. Ingles markets

in history to the moments you might have forgotten and
the ones you'll. Never FORGET it's otd on, this day.

Speaker 2 (45:21):
All right nineteen, sixty Nine The boston celtics would BEAT
The la lakers in the seventh game to WIN The
nba championship for the tenth time in. Eleven years and
this was led by, Player, coach yes, Player Coach, bill
russell and he would retire after the game as. A,
player yes, Why not THAT'S what i. Would do and
also on the, same year, same Day The milwaukee bucks

(45:44):
would sign number one DRAFT pick ucla Center Lou, al
sender who would help them actually WIN an. Nba championship
and in, Twenty Thirteen lebron james would be CROWNED THE.
Nba mvp he would receive one hundred and twenty of
the one hundred and twenty, one votes, almost unanimous but
the only player to ever HAVE unanimous mvp IN.

Speaker 3 (46:06):
The Nba. Steph, curry Yes That's. Steph curry. All right THAT.

Speaker 2 (46:09):
Is otd and that Is this monday Edition Of The Richmond,
